A part of you couldn’t even fight the urge to roll your eyes at his statements. Your hands gently messing with the strings of jewels he’d fastened around your neck. The gems shining in the sunlight that came in through the grand bay window as you grazed the pad of your finger over each of the gemstones.

“I’m trying my best” you murmured, trying not to shoo him away when he pressed a tender kiss to the small little symbol he had inked onto the back of your shoulder with magic.

The soft white and lavender of the silks he claimed to have lovingly sewn with needle and thread rustling against the plush fabric of the chair you sat on. The feeling of the soft shells scaled fingers running through your hair and delicately braiding each little purple rose or peony into your hair…it was soothing, you could admit that.

However the reason for him seeming to try and include himself even more into your morning routine was that today would be one year anniversary to the day he’d spirited you away to his kingdom.

Which made the actions less tender to you and more of a painful reminder of how long you’d been stuck here. A reminder that no matte how far you walked or a there was now way out of this paradise that some days felt like a maze of nightmares.

Huh, I didn't even realize it'd been a year since BG3 came out until I opened tumblr this morning. Kinda wild. I didn't think much of the game's release: I like Larian's games, and I like the BG series. I wasn't ever going to skip the game, but I didn't think I'd play it at launch because I was busy working on a novel in 2023 and not doing well financially.

Thankfully, circumstances left me with a little bit of extra money last year just before launch and it meant I could spend on a video game. I needed a pick-me-up after said 2023 novel failed to go anywhere, and BG3 was right there. Like most CRPGs, I played it in basically every moment of free time that I had and did as much as I possibly could in one playthrough.

It's so odd how these small happenstances can snowball into coming back to fandom, finding some friends I might've never met otherwise, and writing a lot of fanfiction along the way. I'll probably have something more interesting to say/share when it's the 14th, AKA when I sat down and wrote my first fic for this fandom.

Anyways, it's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more years to come 💜

While i work I've been listening to an LP of the Telltale Walking Dead Games (the ones with clementine, I do not care about the others lmao). Ages ago when I played these I was well aware/amused that part of season 2 takes place in Parker's Crossroads/Parker's Run because I grew up right next to it and the detail stood out to me. But I never caught the line of "We'll head to parker's run. It's just up the road from here" until just right now. So I had a sort of "wait, where the fuck are they supposed to be right now?" ARE YOU SHITTING ME LMAO So by process of elimination, since it's the only city with anything even remotely resembling a large home supply store, that would mean they're in my literal hometown. Saw you reblog your ROTM/Mr Grizz post and yea- I think the main issue with Splatoon lore is just how hard it is to access if you aren't in Japan. Nintendo of America does a REALLY bad job of making things obvious, and so much worldbuilding is either mistranslated or just never makes it over here. I don't want Splatoon to become super lore-heavy and ignore the fun parts it currently has, but I do want Nintendo to make things more explicit so we avoid things like the Octoling mind control or all mammals being extinct.

yeah it really sucks that its how it is. i remember in 2018, when i started getting more deeply interested in understanding splatoon's canon, i would see people making up everything about salmonid culture, or making mammal characters for their splatoon oc worldbuilding, and id say to myself "am i the only one who has tried going through these developer interviews with google translate to get info???" and it turned out the answer was. yes sometimes i hate to say it but. facts. ever since i started making videos consequently getting more people curious about splatoon's lore, ive noticed a huge improvement in the splatoon community's overall understanding of the lore and worldbuilding. we cant change how NOA handles splatoon, but i do what i do to try and get people to understand my favorite game series better and i think its paid off

as someone who isnt super excited for sotm for certain reasons I am really glad that like. it's clear that since ruin theyve been setting up for carnival and sotm IS carnival. so now that carnival is finally coming out, afterwards theyll be moving on to other plotlines since the main villain stuff is sorted out

I'm just rlly happy to finally see a clear direction for how the story is gonna be playing out with like "okay these games were leading up to this so after this will be open possibilites" instead of like. absolutely no info about each upcoming game and being left guessing before it releases and just having to wait and see what's in it and if anything you're looking forward to will be in it

it feels like they have a plan and a solid direction for what they're trying to do and after carnival releases thatll be all that buildup coming to fruition. & we already know from the Scott interview that theres another release 'beyond sotm' that's 'super exciting' so maybe thatll be focusing on another big currently untouched (which is basically all of them) plotline, or even the big campaign game that dawko has been calling security breach 2

one thing I dislike is the sophomoric idea that society should, naturally, move towards a completely genderless model. I get where it's coming from, but it assumes an impossible level of homogeneity rather than accepting that - in the infinity of genders that DO and WILL exist - there are some which will take familiar forms and patterns and names.

Like, look, I don't live in the androgynous future ze're imaging. But if I did I would still feel alienated and out-of-place in a slightly different way from the way I felt growing up under gendered capitalism. Because I'm not genderless, and I know damn well that I'd still feel some calling to change... something about myself. Even without words like "woman" or "witch."

It's a nice dream. it might be comforting to some. But it seems like an airy fantasy to me, and not one I can see myself living in.

Obviously I agree that the barriers between genders need to be broken down. Obviously I don't think the traditional gender roles as our society sells them to us are working. But the future I see has more kinds of people and not less.
