tawbah: turning back when things go wrong
you made a mistake. you knew it was wrong, but you didn’t control your nafs. something inside you whispered it was wrong but you ignored that little voice. you’ve committed a sin. what now?
say, "o My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. indeed, Allah forgives all sins. indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." {sura zumar: aya 53}
our Lord ﷻ is most Forgiving, so fret not! all one has to do in order to seek Allah’s ﷻ mercy and forgiveness is tawbah.
what is tawbah?
tawbah literally means to return back, because by repenting we are essentially turning back to Allah ﷻ after turning away from Him ﷻ whilst choosing to sin.
how does one perform tawbah?
it has been reported that abu bakr ‏رضي الله تعالى عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ: “there is no one who commits a sin, then purifies himself and stands in salah and offers two raka’at and seeks forgiveness, except that Allah ﷻ will forgive him.”
tawbah consists of the salah and dua. 2 rak’ah nafl with the intention of tawbah followed by a sincere dua asking Allah ﷻ to forgive you and keep you in His ﷻ mercy is all you really need
there are three main requirements:
stopping the sin- you can’t ask for forgiveness for something that you are still involved in. cut the sin off from its core so you make be more firm in your repentance
sincere repentance-that guilty feeling you feel that won’t let you go? that’s a blessing. feeling remorse means Allah ﷻ wants to forgive you, all you have to do is reach out
a firm intention to never, ever commit that sin again- even if you’ve promised yourself this a hundred times, DO IT AGAIN! believe in yourself and ask Allah for His help in keeping your promise. deep down, we should believe that we won’t ever do anything to displease Allah ﷻ ever again
also, if the sin you want to repent from involved someone else’s rights, you must seek their forgiveness first. for example, if you stole from someone, you need to return the item before you can ask Allah ﷻ for forgiveness, otherwise you’re still oppressing your brother, and how can Allah ﷻ forgive the one that oppressed His ﷻ servants? however, if the sin was such that revealing it to the person now would cause them harm, conceal the sin and make abundant dua for your brother. for example, if two brothers backbite a third in complete privacy, it may be best not to reveal this to the third brother, especially if it will hurt him. rather, we can make sincere dua that Allah ﷻ places forgiveness in his heart for us and that Allah ﷻ also forgives our brother just as we want him to forgive us.
this is the most complete manner of tawbah that i know of. this is required when committing a major sin, like leaving salah on purpose or listening to music.
i pray this suffices the interested party.

This kind of dish is very well known the Arabian Gulf area and around it in general. I didn’t find any recipe of this kind of dish made by Westerns. If there is let me know as I am interested it deferent variations. All you need are bread, cheese or cheese sauce and your favorite filling like chicken, tuna anything really. As usual I doubled the recipe 😋but the one below serves 6. 12 slices of bread 1 onion chopped 2 chicken breasts cubed 2 grated carrots 1 cup of corn 2 tablespoons chopped parsley 1 cube stock spices Mozzarella cheese Cheese sauce: 2 cans of cream 6 tablespoon of cream cheese 2 tablespoon of cream Either you cook the chicken with the onions, corn, carrots and add stock cube and spices or cook the chicken with cube stock and spices alone and then add the fresh vegetables. Lay the slices of bread in your baking dish. Spread the chicken filling, sprinkle some mozzarella. Make a second layer of the slices of bread. Pour the cheese sauce over the bread and sprinkle some mozzarella and bake it for 10 minutes. #breadand chickendish #chicken #brownbread #wholewheatbread #mozzarella #cheese #healthyfood #ramadanrecipe #nadaleinskitchen #tomato #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiarabia https://www.instagram.com/p/B_fKVRzF7ac/?igshid=5ezrpzqpgwps

Ramadan is a reflective time, a time for charity and strengthening one’s connection with Allah. Yet Ramadan during a pandemic has presented its own unique challenges. There were days when my connection with Allah was lost. Days when I questioned ‘how?’ and ‘why?’ was Allah putting us through this—putting me through this. I’ve been angry and hopeless as I witnessed, yet again, the ugly truths about this country. I try my best to manage what I can control and leave the rest to Allah. I continue to fast and pray and take each day as a new opportunity to love myself. To make sure I let my family and friends know that I love them and when the light hits right in my living room—I have a photoshoot.

things i learned this ramadan
every ramadan has many important lessons to teach us individually, but this year we’ve all learnt some collective lessons. here are the three that i feel deserve to be the most preserved and internalized:
Allah ﷻ does not reside in the masjid nor in the haram, but He ﷻ is with the believer
a major reason why we feel absolute euphoria when visiting the kaba is because it’s the first time in a long time that our sole focus is our relationship with Allah ﷻ. we pray, read His ﷻ quran, and make every dua that finds its way to our heart.
but Allah ﷻ isn’t only in the haram, nor is He ﷻ confines to the masjid. the reason we feel closer to Him ﷻ in these places is because entering them is the only time we attempt to put aside all of our worldly worries to focus on building a connection to Allah ﷻ. this ramadan, we learnt that Allah ﷻ is as much in our homes as He ﷻ is the masjid. in fact, He ﷻ is wherever we may be when we call upon Him ﷻ.
life becomes blissful when we adopt a mentality of, “Allah ﷻ has planned it out best for me”
much of our day to day stress comes from planning out the future and get rattled when things don’t go according to plan. some of us had travel plans. others were supposed to be getting married. some even lost their jobs or a loved one.
so much has happened in these last few months, but ramadan was our opportunity to reconcile all of our worldly plans with Allah ﷻ perfect predestination. internalizing the thought that, “had it happens the way i had wanted, i would have suffered or lost out on something better” or even better, “i got this because it’s the absolute best for me” is the key to unlocking a more content life. suddenly, stress melts away and tawakul in Allah’s ﷻ perfect plan replaces it.
the best deeds are those that are performed in difficulty
regardless of how much of an impact the worlds current state has had on your individual life, we can all agree that a great burden has taken hold of humanity. the healthy are now sick, the financially self-sufficient are now struggling, and the most social of men and women are trapped in their homes without any gatherings to attend.
this calls for gratitude for whatever state we may be in, and seizing every opportunity because well never know when our condition might change. however, it also teaches us the value of deeds that are performed in spite of adversity. the charity you give when you don’t know where your next meal is coming from. the salah you pray when your feeling sleepy. fasting at a time when everyone else is emphasizing the need to stay hydrated. we might overlook these obstacles, but Allah ﷻ doesn’t. He ﷻ sees and values and appreciates and records.

bidding farewell to ramadan
thirty days have come and gone, and now it’s time to move on...
‏قال الحبيب ﷺ" وَإِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالْخَوَاتِيمِ ‏"‏‏
our Beloved Prophet ﷺ has said, “verily, (the rewards of) the deeds are decided by the last actions (deeds)"
on this final day of ramadan let us strive to end of ramadan on the best possible note. let’s use this extra time to accomplish those ‏أعمال we wished to do but didn’t.
if you’re feeling down about not having had the best ramadan this year, remember that the success of any ramadan is judged by the change that remains in the servant even after it has gone. so if you were able to eradicate even one bad habit, or you established one good habit, then know that you’ve reaped the fruit of ramadan
i pray that Allah ﷻ accepts all of our fasting, our prayers, our duas, our zakaat, our sadaqah, and all our good deeds, despite how incomplete and lacking in sincerity they were
may this ramadan be the one we look back to and say, “that was the year it all changed, that was the year i fell in love with Allah ﷻ”

This dessert is delicious. It has three layers. First the toasted semolina and milk powder. Next dipped biscuit in coffee and milk. Third cheesy condensed milk topping. The special thing you do here is toasting the milk powder and semolina. Don’t toast over high heat to hurry up the process. You will end up with very bitter taste, you need to be patient. This recipe is from @am_almhaa4 I send the picture to my sister and she kindly made it. Ingredients first layer 1 cup of semolina , toasted 1 cup of milk powder, toasted 1/3 cup of powdered sugar 1 can of cream 1 Tbsp of cocoa powder Mix the first layer ingredients together and place them in a baking dish lined with baking paper. for the milk dipping mixture, mix 1 Tbsp of milk powder in 1 cup of water 2 tsp of instant coffee. Dip the biscuit in the milk and coffee mixture and layer over the semolina base. For the topping 1 can of Nestle condensed milk + 6 squares of Kiri cream cheese, whisk and then pour over the biscuit layer. Bake it in a preheated oven just so the layers hardens a bit. We let the top layer to brown a bit. Let it cool in the fridge for an hour before serving. #milkpowder #milkpowderdessert #semolina #semolinadessert #condensedmilk #condensedmilkdessert #coffeedessert #Yummy #Desserts #deserttime #ramadanrecipe #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiaarabia #nadaleinskitchen https://www.instagram.com/p/CAc4UAwlnLp/?igshid=1r342a1y2tpng

Mushroom oat soup You can add spices and vegetables to this versatile oat soup. You should use 2 cups of broth for 1 cup of oat but I like mine a bit runny. I would have added broccoli or spinach but I didn’t have any also it would be delicious if you can use fresh mushroom. This recipe is oil free. You can add oil when cooking the onion if you like. 1 onion chopped 2 cloves of garlic minced 1 small can mushroom 1 cup oats 3 cups of broth Salt, pepper, oregano, paprika to taste White cheese and parsley to finish the soup. In a small pot on a medium high heat cook the onion garlic and mushroom. Add the oats and cook for a minute then add the broth and spices. Cook until the oats become kinda thick but still a bit runny ( depends on how yup like it) serve with white cheese. #mushrooms #mushroomoatsoup #oatsoup #soup #oats #healthysoup #vegetarian #vegetarianrecipes #vegetariansoup #healthyfood #ramadanrecipe #nadaleinskitchen #tomato #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiarabia https://www.instagram.com/p/CAaR56lFFu3/?igshid=12fcv4wp432b6

Bean pasta salad In this recipe you can add whatever beans and peas that you have or prefer. Same with vegetables. The main thing I think when it come to salads is the dressing. I have found lots of recipes for this salad with mayo based dressing which I didn’t want to use a lot of. I did add a bit of mayo. Try this one it is so yummy. For the pasta salad: 8 ounces pasta, cooked in salted water according to package directions & drained 1 can red beans, drained & rinsed 1 can white beans, drained & rinsed 1 can corn, drained & rinsed 1 can chickpea , drained & rinsed 1 big onion, sliced thinly 2 bell peppers, chopped 2 cucumber, chopped 2 tomatoes, chopped For the dressing: 1/2 cup olive oil 2/3 cup lemon juice 3 Tbsp vinegar ( it was red wine vinegar, so I used 2 tbsp white vinegar and 1 tbsp balsamic) 2 cloves garlic, finely minced 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper 1 tsp cumin ¼ cup mayo 2 Tbsp chopped cilantro INSTRUCTIONS Make the dressing by whisking all of the ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly incorporated. Set aside. Place the cooked pasta, peas, corn, beans and vegetables and pour the dressing over top. Gently mix all of the ingredients with a large spoon until well combined. Refrigerate for several hours to allow the flavors to blend. #Salad #Pasta salad #BeanSalad #MexicanSalad #SaladDressing #ramadanrecipe #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiaarabia #nadaleinskitchen https://www.instagram.com/p/CAXwi7GF6kK/?igshid=1o7j9fayxg8g5

I found a can of strawberry pie filling in the cupboard so I looked around and I found that I can use it in a coffee cake. I didn’t want to make cheesecake so that’s how the recipe started. I don’t know why my crumble doesn’t look crumbled but looks like sand. Maybe I didn’t add enough butter. 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 large egg 2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup yogurt 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 1 can strawberries filling For the Crumble Topping: 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted then cooled For the Cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and liberally spray 8x8 sized pan with non-stick baking spray. In the bowl of your stand mixer (or using a hand mixer), beat together butter and sugar on high speed for 4-5 minutes until light and fluffy. Add in eggs and continue to mix until combined. Change mixer to low speed and slowly add in flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda until just combined then pour in yogurt and vanilla extract and mix until it all just comes together without over mixing. Turn off mixer. Evenly spread cake batter in pan then top with strawberries filling. For the Crumble Topping: Whisk together flour, both sugars, salt, and cinnamon until mixed. Drizzle butter over flour mixture and using a fork, stir together until crumbs form. Sprinkle crumbs over strawberries. Bake cake for 30-38 minutes OR until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow cake to cool for at least 20 minutes then serve. #Strawberry filling #Strawberry #CoffeeCake #crumblecake #Yummy #Desserts #deserttime #ramadanrecipe #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiaarabia #nadaleinskitchen https://www.instagram.com/p/CAVJ8erl-2x/?igshid=1vflhlq1k8uel

This is a Chinese all purpose stir fry sauce. The original recipe is from @recipetin please check out her recipe and notes the link is in the bio. I did some changes because I used what I had on hand and of course I didn’t use wine but she did list substitutions. You are all set with this real Chinese all purpose stir fry sauce by Nagi. I made chicken and vegetables stir fry but I will not share the recipe as there is no recipe. All you have to do is stir fry chicken and your chosen vegetables. The star is the sauce.I will however give notes of I did right and wrong. Right: Using @recipetin recipe of the sauce. Using garlic and ginger as sometimes I omit the ginger.   Wrong: The oil which I fried the chicken with was not hot enough. The consequence was the final look. That is why I will not post the recipe of this dish. The taste is amazing, but the look is terrible. All was fine until I poured the sauce on the chicken and vegetables. The chicken coating ( cornstarch and flour) turned mushy. The chicken was not crispy in the first place because the oil was not hot enough. 1/2 cup  soy sauce  1/2 cup oyster sauce 1/4 cup ketchup 1/4 cup cornstarch 1 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp oil 1 - 2 tsp ground white pepper    Mix all the ingredients well together. #stirfry #chinessstirfrysauce #stirfrysauce #recipetin #ramadanrecipe #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiaarabia #nadaleinskitchen https://www.instagram.com/p/CASI89zl4kO/?igshid=mngl3b9c25wt

You know that old custard Ramadany dessert with jello and canned fruit on top? Well if you don’t have custard powder try this recipe and you will like this one even more. The key to the old nostalgic taste is the banana essence. Don’t ask me why we put banana essence I have no idea at all. Perhaps it was the only essence to import at that time. This is a very very old recipe people in 60s and 70s have made this. 4 cups or 1000 ml water 1 tin sweetened condensed milk 397g 4 tbsp full cream milk powder 4 tbsp corn starch 2 tbsp banana essence Add water, sweetened condensed milk, milk powder, corn starch to a large saucepan. Bring to boil under constant stirring. Reduce heat and simmer while stirring for 10 minutes. Stir in the banana essence and remove from heat. Pour it into cups and chill. Make the jello to the packet direction. Add the canned fruit or fresh. Pour the jelly gently over the milk pudding. Let it chill in the fridge and then serve cold. #ramadandesserts #milkpudding #milkpuddingandjelly #jelly #jello #cannedfruit #cocktailfruit #ramadanrecipe #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiaarabia #nadaleinskitchen https://www.instagram.com/p/CAKXsU6lYce/?igshid=4g4bwddb8bx0

Caramelized apple pie? Wait the picture is not an apple pie! Well, it started as @gordongramrecipe, but the dough was so difficult to roll out. Maybe it’s my rolling skills 🤔 maybe it’s the dough. I couldn’t roll out the other top half so I just grated it. Do try caramelizing the apples so yummy and don’t say this is an apple pie just say apple tart or apple bar 🤣 As usual I doubled the recipe and no there was no piece left. This is the first dessert I make this Ramadan where there is no leftovers. ½ cup sugar ½ tsp ground cinnamon pinch of freshly grated nutmeg 3 pounds green apples ½ stick unsalted butter sweet tart pastry Mix the sugar, spices. Peel, quarter, and core the apples, then cut into thick chunks. Place in a bowl and sprinkle with the spiced sugar . Fry the apples in two batches: Melt half the butter in a wide, nonstick frying pan, add half the apple chunks, and fry over high heat until golden and caramelized around the edges, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl. Repeat with the remaining apples and butter. Let cool completely. Preheat the oven to 375°F. ( here where you are supposed to roll out the dough but it was crumbly so I just pressed the pieces with my fingers in the baking dish to make the shell)Spoon the cooled apples into the pie shell. Grate the remaining pastry on top. Bake until the crust is golden brown and crisp, 35 - 40 minutes. Let stand for 15 - 20 minutes before serving. PASTRY Makes about 1 pound 1 stick unsalted butter, softened 7 tbsp sugar 1 extra-large egg 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour Place the butter and sugar in a food processor and blitz until just combined. Add the egg and blitz for 30 seconds. Tip in the flour and process for a few seconds until the dough just comes together. (Be careful not to over-process, or the dough will become tough.) Add a tablespoon of cold water if the dough seems too dry. Knead lightly on a floured surface and shape into a flat disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes before using. #applepie #appletart #gordonramsy #sweetpastry #applebar #appledessert #caramelizedapples #ramadanrecipes #nadaleinskitchen #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak https://www.instagram.com/p/CAFViOiFr50/?igshid=115moyx4r5uin

Call it Asian chicken salad or Chinese chicken salad anyway it is inspired by the Cheesecake Factory famous salad. Personally I never tried it but I tried a recreated one by my friend and it was delicious. The ingredients for the salad is not that hard to get but the dressing is another story. It calls for sesame plum dressing 🧐where am I supposed to get that? I looked for substitutions and I will share it. How much and how you cook the chicken is up to you. I didn’t have rice noodles or wanton stripes to fry so I just smashed ramen noodles and fried it for just seconds. Again in the pictures the recipe is doubled for my large family. 2 cups shredded cabbage 1 cup lettuce shredded 1/2 cup cucumber cut diagonally thinly 1/3 cup carrot cut thinly 1/3 cup green onion 1/3 cup green bell pepper 2 cups of cooked shredded chicken Mandarin pieces optional Dressing: 3 tbsp lemon juice 2 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp honey 2 tbsp peanut butter 1 tsp fish sauce 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes 3 garlic cloves smashed 2 tbsp chopped coriander Fry the rice noodles or ramen or wanton strips. Mix the salad ingredients. Whisk the dressing ingredients and pour into the salad. Sprinkle the fried noodles on top. #chinesssalad #chinesechickensalad #cheesecakefactory #peanutdressing #saladdressing #nadaleinskitchen #m#ramadanrecipe #ramadan #ramadan2020 #ramadaninquarantine #ramdanmubarak #ramadankareem #jeddah #ksa #saudiatrabia https://www.instagram.com/p/B_9noQUllyi/?igshid=45ivtpz7rdrk
