i have a theory about deltarune,
i think ralsei is a darker who (somehow) got determination because he is a paralel to flowey/asriel he is the one who (tries) to teach you how to fight (but he doesnt try to kill you) so maybe he was a normal darkner (or just a light world object) who somehow got determination
maybe thats the reason on why he doesnt turn to stone

Running on the idea that ralsei in some way was made by Gaster and/or parallels the secret bosses b/c he interacted with Gaster, it would be kind of nuts if he dropped a voice acted line at a crucial point in the story. Like he's shutting the door on you and goes "sorry guys" out loud.
Depending on your interpretation, you could consider Don't Forget as Ralsei singing... Kind of interesting comparing that to Big Shot, but it's probably a stretch both ways.

my probably nonsense but really cool to me personally Deltarune theory is that Ralsei is, or is based on, a fomhórach. It feels like it fits, the monsters in Undertale also seem like they were kind of based on fomhóraigh (or the daoine sídhe,) and, I don't know, I like the idea that Ralsei is Irish.
Chara is also Irish but that's just because of their name.

Ok, let's start at the beginning. A lot of people wonders what is Ralsei, well
I believe that Ralsei is created from the Player's memories of Asriel, since he speaks similarly to him. It also explains how he got to the cyber darkworld quickly, as well as him knowing the school's layout, since he's made from the player's memories of Asriel, he basically goes everywhere the player goes.
Remember how's the knight, Flowey is trapped somewhere in Deltarune and is making darkworlds in a desperate attempt to go home? Well, I've been thinking about how's the player is going to be able to free him, and I only have one idea: Creating a darkworld inside a darkworld. Yes, my theory is that Ralsei made the roaring up, in order to stops the player from freeing the Knight. It would explains why he didn't tell us about the Roaring until chapter 2 as he didn't need to, it wasn't until Berdly almost made a darkworld inside another darkworld that he needs to find a reason why we shouldn't do that. As for why he's stopping the player from saving the Knight, Remember how the said that he goes everywhere the player goes? Yeah, it's quite possible that if the player leaves Deltarune, he essentially DIES. He does NOT want to dies, and so since the only reason the player is in Deltarune in the first place is to save the Knight, he decided to stops them from doing so, in order to force them to stay longer.
It would explains a lot about Kris' behavior. First the reason why they're noticeably uncomfortable around Ralsei is because they knows about his secret, and is DISGUSTED by what he's doing. It's also explains why they made a darkworld in their house. Aside from doing it In order to spite Ralsei it's likely that they were intentionally making it so that there will be a Flowey inspired darkner, both to gets the player to remember him, and to find out how the player feels about him. They also made sure Susie is there, so that she would ask the player about their reaction to "Flowey".
As for how it'll ends, I believe that we'll be sent to Sans' brother in Chapter 6(With us meeting him during chapter 5 at the latest)and he'll tell us about Ralsei's secret thanks to Kris telling him in between chapters, as well as how to free the Knight. The Chapter will ends with the Player creating the final darkworld, inside of the darkworld made this chapter. Chapter 7 will focus on the Player's final confrontation with the final boss.
The Final boss will NOT be Ralsei, but FLOWEY, who will likely be very PISSED off if he were to find out why his escape attempts had failed before.
It'll ends for Ralsei one of two ways
1.Flowey ends up murdering him brutally.
2.The Fun Gang managed to protect him from Flowey or Flowey decided on different tactics for dealing with Ralsei. He soon begin to says goodbye to the rest of the characters, finally accepting his fate...Only for someone(Probably Susie) to point out "Hey, it never stated that you need the PLAYER'S memories of Undertale's Asriel to exists, just that you SOMEONE'S memories of him to exists. Since we have memories of him, thanks to him being the knight, you could still exists.", however it'll causes Deltarune to essentially become a "We could've avoided this plot", as if he simply allows the Player to free the Knight a lot earlier, and allows the Fun Gang to interact with him normally, Ralsei would still be fine.

Are there any hypothetical tea charts for Frisk and Chara here? I've always found those interesting.
Okay it's been a LOOOOOONG time someone asked about the tea stuff, and I can't find the old posts. If you do, just consider them as not canon. This here is the current one (The game doesn't say what the teas taste like to canon kris. So these are just what they taste like TR!kris)
Tumblr media
(Please don't ask me what they heal for. You should be able to gather that with how the characters behave towards each other)

WAIT I forgot one!
4. Deltarune is the ultimate plushie marketing scheme
Ralsei is a marketable plushie... of himself! This means every Ralsei plush is technically a real Ralsei. If you buy him and turn off the lights in your room, then you too can canonically have a totally real huggable little goat prince as your bestie!
(Spamton is just meta commentary of this)
My Ralsei theories
While I'm a big fan of the "Ralsei is Kris' horns" -theory and think it's very much plausible, I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket (and also speculation is fun)
So, here are some of my own Ralsei theories:
The Don't Forget song
I got the idea for this one while reading the first few chapters of Paper Trail. Ralsei could be sheet music for the credits song.
The first verse seems like an alternative telling of the legend, and the overall tone of the song is very much in line with Ralsei's personality.
2. The green crayon
Not surprised I'm not the first person to think of this. The green crayon being missing could very well be just a random detail for immersion (or Kris ate it), but knowing Toby Fox, it could just as well be important.
Tumblr media
Most darkners resemble their light world counterpart in some way, and Ralsei is very much green, and sort of crayon shaped too. His hat is pointy, and that sprite of him also lacks arms
Tumblr media
3. Chalk
Kris and Susie went to the supply closet to get chalk, yet there wasn't any in the darkworld! Unless...

i forgot that ralsei just says this directly to lancer's face. he doesn't even turn to kris to whisper in secret he just said this in front of (quite literally) god and everyone. ralsei you're going to kickstart this round boy's seam arc if you keep saying things that don't make sense but don't not make sense either like this right in front of him.

I feel like the four leads of Deltarune--Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and Noelle-are just. Somehow two different levels of queer-coded.
(Edit: Just to be clear: not saying any of this to disparage or insult shippers of Kralsei, Suselle, or Kriselle, I've just seen a lot of cool analysis about tropes, romance, and lack of choice in Deltarune and wanted to chime in with some of my own thoughts. If you ship any of those ships in Deltarune--fantastic! May you find a lot of content precisely to your taste.)
Like. On the one hand, if you're looking at tropes, they are very neatly set up into two romantic partnerships. Noelle is very blatantly interested in Susie, and Ralsei's feelings for Kris are often portrayed similarly. On a surface level, both pairings appear very clear. Noelle is a girl in love with another girl, while Ralsei is a very effeminate boy in love with a teen who doesn't appear to use pronouns. And a big deal isn't made of either pairing, there's nothing really in the way of Suselle or Kralsei on a societal level we've encountered so far. At least in terms of gender and sexuality. But if you look a little closer, it's kind of...'these are a very straight idea of queer ships', y'know?
Noelle and Susie are both girls, but one is very effeminately coded, anxious, uses magic, and is more traditionally cute, while they other is crass, crude, intimidating, and physically strong. Ralsei and Kris are gender-noncomforming, but Ralsei is a sweet pacifistic healer who bakes cakes while Kris uses a sword, and keeps being mistaken for a boy by much of Youtube and Reddit. The active one and the passive one, the fighter and the mage, the one with cute hobbies and the one who eats moss, the one in pants and the one in a dress.
And here, I start thinking of some posts I've seen analyzing how, in Deltarune, romance is used to explore how Kris doesn't really get choices. Kris has been cast as the leader and knight, and Ralsei has been cast as the healer and Princess, even if he is a boy. The leader often ends up with the healer. The knight often gets the princess as a happy ending. But Kris doesn't seem to like this! Their reactions to Ralsei are constantly lukewarm at best, and that's not getting into how Ralsei seems to be in love with his idea of Kris, while being very. Asriel-coded, who the game describes often as Kris' brother, in sharp contrast to how ambiguous Chara and Frisk's relationships with the Dreemurrs were.
If we and Kris reject Ralsei as a love interest, we can a different romantic partner in Noelle...but this choice has a bodycount, traumatizes Noelle, doesn't seem to leave Kris any happier, and it's still a kind of straight-coded ship. Now it's the knight being paired up with the apocalypse maiden, for the doomed codepedent toxic tragedy lovers out there. But it kinda makes sense too, right? If Kralsei is the expected RPG romance, then Kriselle would be the expected romance if there were no Dark World and Ralsei weren't an option. They're childhood friends and neighbors in a small town, their families used to be very close, Rudy is still very fond of Kris. They're even extremely angel/devil coded.
But the most interesting part is. It's implied that there IS someone that Kris is very interested in, either platonically or romantically. It's Susie. Kris never seems frightened by Susie when they're bullied by her, and rejects Noelle's offers to switch seats. They seek comfort from Susie rather than Ralsei after the Spamton fight, they call her their friend when Toriel calls, they share moss with her, they refuse to think about her during Snowgrave when Ralsei prompts them, they make it clear that out of all the people they COULD go to the Carnival with, Susie is the one they'd ACTUALLY want to choose.
And this is the part that drives me crazy. Because while Kris is so tightly controlled by genre and narrative, and those things would usually push them towards Ralsei or Noelle, and Ralsei keeps encouraging Kris to stick to the narrative. Susie is the one who refuses to be bound to the narrative. Susie is the character of Deltarune who is most unapologetically herself--and isn't that a very queer thing, refusing to be anyone but yourself despite everything? She says no thanks to the prophecy, until she comes around to it on her own terms! She makes herself and Ralsei learn to take their own actions, and drags Ralsei off to have fun with him instead of letting Kris choose who to with! She doesn't stay in her box of the damage-dealing fighter, she insists on learning Healing magic, even if she's not particularly skilled at it at first! Even Ralsei is forced to admit that it's wonderful that Susie is Susie, and not anyone else!
I think Kris likes Susie a lot. And part of it may be admiration. That while Kris is controlled by the player and the narrative and the prophecy and humanity and divorce and a dozen things outside their control, Susie refuses to ever be bound by anything. And Kris and Susie together happen to be the two more masculinely-coded party members, the two melee fighters, the two troublemakers. It honestly makes me wonder a little if Susie and Kris might be able to make their own ending beyond the bounds of gender expectations and romance expectations together? It would be cool. And I think it would make Kris very happy to break free like that.

I've been thinking about why Ralsei had always made me uncomfortable, and I've come up with a theory regarding his secret that he's hiding from the player, as well as what he is. Don't worry, my version of the Ralsei is evil theory is less "Ralsei is evil just cuz he can be" but more "Ralsei made a bad decision that makes things a lot worse"

Ralsei is a large metaphor for Deltarune (and other games or franchises that are sequels/spinoffs). He is a being that heavily resembles Asriel and has potential ties to Flowey as well, yet the game mostly ignores this resemblance so we can view him as his own character. Much like how Deltarune is tied to Undertale, yet is it's own experience and game. I have a feeling future chapters will emphasize Ralsei becoming intentionally less Asriel-like in order to drive home the importance of not letting your view of the source material overshadow it's sequel.
