Can you recommend me any BL or Queer dramas / series that is just pure fluff and soft without much sexual scenes? Just been wanting to watch something not to heated
um... yes! I very much can :) (although shows that fit this description are actually quite rare to find so I had to rack my brain for this lol)
WHOLESOME FLUFFY BL SHOWS
COOKING CRUSH
I mean... as soon as you said 'pure fluff & soft' I thought of this show, bc it's the LEGIT definition of it! it's adorable & hilarious and truly has the healthiest bl ship ever who is composed of the two cutest patooties. it's a true romcom bc it nails both the comedy & romance elements and is just THE feel good show for me :)
MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT
this is another show that has very little drama or un-cute moments. the characters are adorable, the friendship is top-tier, and the slice of life aspect really invests you in the story. definitely will have you smile most (if not all) of the time!
MY RIDE
this show is my little underrated gem! it does have SOME drama, but it's mostly about two overtly kind main characters who fall in love despite odds. it's so cute, so wholesome, and genuinely just a fucking good time if you wanna cheer up :)
OUR DINING TABLE
another show that does have some deeper, sadder moments (almost all shows do lol) but is overall a beautiful story of healing through community & food with, again, incredibly kind and lovable characters which I could not recommend more!
WE ARE
this show is one I had no expectation for... except perhaps that I thought it would suck. however, while it is in no way a masterpiece & will frankly go down as a forgettable show for me, it was actually REALLY enjoyable. this show truly has close to zero drama and is just about love & friendship. frankly the friendship element is what did it for me, paired with the unique & lovable characters. this is just a great time if you want to turn your brain off & enjoy the cuteness imo (there's a couple sex scenes tho but nothing very explicit)
WHAT DID YOU EAT YESTERDAY
yet ANOTHER show about food lol, bc one thing about food bls, there's 500 of them & they're all super cute and wholesome lol it's law :') this one is the OG, it's as non-sexual as it can get since there's barely any intimacy, but it's very wholesome and has 2 seasons + 1 movie + 1 special ep. you just follow this older gay couple through life as they cook their awesome recipes while still getting some social commentary on being lgbtq+ in japan, it's just... I fully want this show to keep getting seasons forever, I love it so much! (also idk if you're interested in gls but 'she loves to cook and she loves to eat' is also a show with the same premise but wlw & I adore it!)
THE NEW EMPLOYEE
this one is also an underrated gem of mine even though it's a very overlooked kbl :( it's a very simple story that is explicitely lgbtq+ (very rare for kbls) & the couple really is the cutest with great chemistry! I really enjoyed this one & would recommend it :)
I WILL KNOCK YOU
now... with a title like this, you might be wondering if this is truly a "wholesome" and "pure" show... IT IS! this show is the proof of the kind of silliness thai dramas can offer, and why they're so great. it's dumb and frankly weird at times, but it's also one of the funniest thai comedies ever & has great character growth! despite featuring SOME violence, it is actually just a really wholesome romcom, and the character of noey is frankly iconic af. one of my fave niche bl shows!
RAK DIAO
speaking of dumb, silly, wholesome comedy... rak diao is the first (and still the only lol) thai bl sitcom. it follows a very simple story with almost no drama and has a very lovable & fun main character. this is such a cute show which is, again, way too underrated!
BON APPETIT
what did I say about food shows & being wholesome? yeah, that! this one does have SOME drama, more than the other shows featured on this list, but it's very quickly squashed down & also so predictable I don't think it will influence your mood whatsoever. this is overall very cute & wholesome, although a bit basic. but the chemistry is very good so I'd recommend it!
LOVE SICK
now, I've mentioned over the years (MANY TIMES) about how love sick is my comfort show. yes, it's old & the camera work, acting, etc. are MILES behind current bl shows, and yes, it's actually not that wholesome bc they're cheating on their girlfriends the whole time, but... this is like the OG my school president, but even more lovable imo. it's a true slice of life, and the characters are all so cute & fun, the friendship literally carries the entire show & phunnoh are one of the most healthy ships ever (despite the affair!) this show has a lot of obstacles to enjoy it but imo it's worth it. I love it so much. it'll forever be super special for me :) also I feel like watching the first ever thai bl should be a rite of passage lol!
BOYS' LOCKDOWN
I had to mention at least one filipino bl here, and it's one that pretty much no one watched but I absolutely loved! this is soft & wholesome to the T, two guys accidentally meet during lockdown (bc they both are wearing masks with d*cks on them lmao this show is great) & fall in love but encounter difficulties meeting through quarantine. there's no drama, the chemistry is great, the story quite well written... it's so cute!
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
my love mix-up
star & sky: sky in your heart
papa & daddy
ossan's love
my secret love
takara & tamagi
our dating sim
destiny seeker
my mate match

My Top 10 BL's of 2022
Cause why not.
10. Secret Crush on You
The cringe was real, but so was how much I didn't care and just enjoyed the shit out of this thing.
9. Minato Shouji Coin Laundry
It was a battle in my head between this one and Old Fashioned Cupcake, but I'm gonna go with Minato. They were both great shows, but damn the sexual tension between Minato and Shin was just *chef's kiss* and the ending was so freaking satisfying. Add in the cinematography, which I truly believe was off the charts, and you've got a great show that I've re-watched probably three times already.
8. Love in the Air
Was it Mame trash? Sure. Did I still adore it? Yes. I'm easy like that. Give me barely any plot and hand waving sexual assault, but throw in a daddy kink and a man bun, and I fold like a stack of cards apparently.
7. Rak Diao (One Love)
I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this, but here we are. A lot of people didn't watch or didn't like this show and that's fair. But I respectfully disagree. The laugh track blended in for me very quickly. I don't know if it was just the nostalgia factor or the just the surrealness of having a very 'sitcom' BL I do not know, but genuinely enjoyed this, and so sad it didn't get the ratings it deserved.
5. The Eclipse.
Just call me a sucker for a good ol' enemies to lovers, pro-lgbt, anti-authoritarian high school BL. Would probably be higher if the last couple of eps weren't so weird, but deserves to still be here for First crying alone.
6. My Tooth Your Love
Great show. Only complaints are the lack of focus on the side couples, but just genuinely adored the progress of the main's arc. Gonna be a feel good re-watch for a long time.
Therapy Recommendations?? In my BL?? It's more likely than you think!
4. Not Me
I don't know how I couldn't love this show honestly. Enemies to lovers, identity porn w/ twins, rag tag revolutionaries attempting to overthrow the government, Sing as a villain. Just, fuck, it was like it was written with me in mind. I'm glad OffGun are coming back, but damn this would've been a hell of a high note to go out on.
Be gay, do crimes, and steal my heart I guess.
3. Semantic Error
Are y'all starting to realize I have an enemies to lovers thing? Cause damn. Anyway.
People a lot more talented than me have written way longer and better pieces on how great this show was, but yeah, it rocked. I've rewatched it multiple times, and read the manhua (yuck). Only complaint is the same with any Korean show, not long enough, but even what little we got feels like a delicious four course meal.
2. KinnPorsche VegasPete
Don't take this as a slight on KinnPorsche, because I adore them, but VegasPete honestly ensnared me body and soul. It may be a symptom of the fact that VP got less screen time than KP, but damn. It's just an obsession I'll probably not going to be getting over any time soon, and I really don't want to.
The not joking around enemies to lovers plot, the daddy issues, the straight up not fucking joking around BDSM. I mean, come on???
WHERE IS SEASON 2 BOC??? WHERE IS IT???
1. Bad Buddy
What's that? Bad Buddy came out in 2021 and barely had any episodes in 2022? Sorry, I've suddenly gone deaf.
But seriously, none of that matters. What matters is that the last episode came out in 2022 and absolutely rocked my world. I took the day off WORK for that episode. I made @bluebladerose block off her calendar at work so as soon as the episode ended I could call her and scream about it uninterrupted (and she, at this point, had not watched the show or any other BL for that matter). I could barely even tell her what had happened, and just proceeded to CRY like a child about it from pure damn joy.
It was joy in the face of pain, it was choosing happiness and love in the face of everything. It was letting all of us little queer kids know that it is possible to keep your family AND the one you love. It said that love was friendship, and happiness, and made you stronger and better and was worth fighting for no matter that it's hard.
It was cathartic and beautiful and everything I ever wanted. I'll never get over it. As far as I'm concerned, the moment Pat opened that door to see Pran on the other side was a cultural reset and nothing else will ever compare.
Honorable Mentions:
Old Fashioned Cupcake. Fantastic. Only one kiss, but it's a doozy
Love Stage!! Probably should be on the TOP 10, but it's been so long since I watched it, and couldn't bring myself to fight for it over any of the other shows.
Cutie Pie. The very definition of PWP in TV form, but who cares when Zee looks like that. Damn.
Unlucky-Kun must Kiss. Cute. Feel good. Did not live up to the High heat promise from the earlier episodes, but still good rewatch value.
Roommates of Poongduck 304. Cute. Loved it being about adults. Loved it.
Triage. Unf. So good.
Between Us & My School President Will be on the Top 10 list for 2023
Dishonorable Mentions that should be burnt in a fire:
The Miracle of Teddy Bear. The only good thing to come from this show was @bluebladerose's increasing horror as I spent four hours I spent explaining the plot to her and also this screenshot which was my background for a week.
(Yes, okay, there were some good parts and I did enjoy the dynamic with the mom as someone who is currently dealing with an aging mother, but also jfc I'm a good person and did not deserve that ending.)
See you all in 2023!

So, I DID go back and try to watch this again, after watching some of the first episode a year, or so, ago. I was, originally turned, completely, off by the laugh track.
It’s intrusive, too frequently used (abused), and it ruins the real funny parts, sometimes.
Well, I pushed through the first episode, this time, and shortly into the second I was chuckling at a couple of the jokes. By the third episode, I was enchanted by the enemies to lovers trope, and at this point you ARE able to block out, or ignore, the soundtrack, most of the time.
It’s 15, 45 minute episodes, which puts it WAY ahead of all other BLs, so you might want to give it a try. It’s good to watch in between the current, weekly batch.
It’s available on YouTube via channel one31.

Hi, how you doing!?
I hope this isn't rude, but I wanted to ask are you watching or planning to watch My Love Mix Up Th?
I've noticed that the main characters address each other differently than what I've seen in the other shows so far.
I was curious to know what it is. Figured I'd check if you had any thoughts. 😅
Hi there :>
Not rude at all, no worries, I can never shut up about Thai pronouns anyway 😂 And yes, I am watching it!
Disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning 🙏
Atom-Kongthap both call themselves เรา /rao/ and the other นาย /naai/ which are both used between age mates, pretty neutral and informal yet also polite, considering they're only just getting to know each another. It gets interesting once you compare that to how the other characters talk to each other!
Atom-Mudmee and Half-Mudmee (and I think Kongthap-Mudmee too?? though they've not directly spoken to each other much) also use เรา /rao/ to address themselves but call each other just by their names, which makes them sound a bit closer in comparison and doesn't sound like being too polite to a friend. In contrast, Mudmee and Half's first meeting in her flashback in ep. 2 has them still calling each other นาย /naai/ and เธอ /ter/:
เหตุผลอะไรของนายเนี่ย /haeht phohn a rai khaawng naai niia/ แต่ก็ทำให้เธอยิ้มได้แล้วนี่ไง /dtaae gaaw tham hai ter yim dai laaeo nee ngai/ -> both are polite yet informal but นาย /naai/ is exclusively masculine and เธอ /ter/ is more feminine, though technically gender-neutral (for example, you can sometimes hear the teachers address students of all genders as เธอ /ter/)
Atom-Half and Kongthap-Khaopan use the rude, familiar pronouns we hear all the time between age mates in GMMTV's school and college series:
รึมึงไม่สบาย /reu meung mai sabaai/ ไม่ใช่ กู /mai chai. guu/ -> these basically suggest they're best bros lol
Kongthap-Half mostly call each other นาย /naai/ and themselves เรา /rao/ but they kinda flip-flop:
1) เดี๋ยวกูเก็บของก่อนน่ะ /diao guu gep khaawng gaawn na/ 2) ฮาล์ฟก็คิดว่าอะตอมน่ารักหรอ /Half gaaw khit waa Atom naa rak raaw/
As for some further contextualization, นาย /naai/ doesn't show up a lot in Thai BL and when it does, the characters may start out using it but then often switch to a different pronoun as they get closer, e.g. NuerSyn in Cutie Pie (or really all of Kuea's friends once Nuer comes in as the new guy), or it's used by a character who speaks politely to create distance, e.g. Tin in Love By Chance. Tongrak in the currently airing Love Sea also calls Mahasamut นาย /naai/, for example.
เรา /rao/ similarly is often used to highlight a difference in familiarity or politeness between different characters, e.g. in Be My Favorite or 23.5, or for a changing dynamic, e.g. in Dead Friend Forever, but in general is just a really versatile and neutral yet polite 1st pers. pronoun to use with someone of the same age or younger. Currently airing Wandee Goodday's Dee and Yak also both use it, by the way.
...this got long djsdjhshjs I hope that somewhat satisfied your curiosity but feel free to ask follow-up questions ✨

Did I make a banner specifically for this post? Yes I did. This is a post to introduce you to Offroad Kantapon and Daou Pittaya who are currently starring in the BL Love In Translation. Get to know these two and their close soulmates bond through this post.
Let's start first with a short history lesson: Both participated in the survival show Lazicon (started airing October 9, 2021) and it was the first time they met each other. They became close in a short amount of time and you would often see them holding insta lives together. For a compilation of how they acted with each other during those lives as well as some Lazicon clips I made a fanvideo a while back. I never published it because it was just something I wanted to make for myself and one other person.
youtube
Now since the post will be long you can find the rest under the read more link.
One thing Offroad wanted during Lazicon was to perform in the final with Daou and some of his close friends from Insight Entertainment. This would have happened if Daou was fully recovered from having covid but he wasn't. So the performance was without him. Daou however was present through a video call. During a performance were all Lazicon contestants sung together Offroad looked at the screen, saw Daou and started crying. A timestamped video were you can see Offroad getting emotional.
Not in front of my salad! Straight to this point. If you watched my fanvideo or at least a part of it skinship between those two is pretty normal. However if you are contantly all over each other it can cause people to want you to get a room! Especially their band members. There is this behind the scenes clip of Rak Diao in which they made an appearance and check out the timestamped part. Watch for about 20 sec.
Close friends! Daou has some close friends. A couple were from Insight and they had no problem with spilling some tea sometimes. Frank who is now DVI said during a live with the boys and some other contestants "It looks like they are flirting". Daou is also close with Joong Archen and he also had some things to say. "What everyone sees is just a little bit. Joong saw a lot more than that". And he mentioned once how Daou has never taken care of someone like this before not even his close friends. Also during a live with Joong and Daou, Daou got called. Joong then was like "Who is calling? Is that handsome boy. The blond haired one".
The part with Joong starts at 1:45
Jealousy what's that? Anyone who has been in the fandom long enough knows how they talk to each other on twitter and IG. One thing is pretty clear, Daou doesn't like it when Offroad shows to much skin. And he will let it know pretty clearly. Ban hammer gifs, talking about how he has the full sized picture, trying to pull Offroad's shorts, you name it. When the trailer of Our Days was released Offroad appeared half naked in it a couple times and fans then took screenshots and put shirts on Offroad to cover him up. Atime26 even released an edited trailer with those shirts on twitter. The inpact! Most recently Offroad wore a shirt with tiny holes in it and Daou called it see through. And during a recent twitch stream of Daou a fan asked if they could buy a see through shirt for Offroad. They could, but fans can only look. Another recent jealousy example here!
Talking about each other! They talk a lot about each other. Good things but sometimes things can also get sad. I will start here around the time Daou posted that he had to go into the army (he had to enlist 1 November 2022). Offroad commented and said "Eat well. I wish you luck, no suffering, no call, no disease. 👏❤️ Send your heart to me. I love you so much. I will do my best here. Let's go". The last day before Daou's enlistment a podcast was posted by The Modernist with the Laz1 boys. There was also a written version and let me copy a part. One question that was asked was "Choose one person and tell him your innermost feelings".
Offroad: But if I want to talk to another person who is very special, that is, I want to talk about P'Wu. Because he was the only person in the group who saw me from the beginning. I want to say that my place is like this. What I want to say is that I want him to see that I'm getting better. (Crying so much that he couldn't breathe) I wanted to tell him that. I have been with him for a long time and he is another person who has fulfilled me to be here as well.
Offroad has said a couple times before that he felt like he was a burden to Daou because he felt like he wasn't good enough.
During the last day they also had last fanmeet. And when Daou grabbed the microphone to talk he put his arm around Offroad's shoulder. And then when he started talking Offroad broke down (video linked there).
And here someone made a tiktok about the enlistment.
They had to work in pairs after the first round in Lazicon and Daou picked Offroad.
Special person talk during EMF fandom live today.
Couple rings! Daou lied to Offroad and said his fanclub wanted to buy a ring so they needed Offroad's ring size. Turned out Daou wanted to buy couple rings. A fan found out it were Cartier rings worth 1500 euro's each. And Daou isn't even rich. During EMF fandom live today there was more couple rings talk.
This was for an interview with Mint Magazine. Full trans for the interview here. As a long term fan I was confused by their answer because for me it's always been a 10. Not sure how it could have gotten more.
Daou talking about how in BL series the characters at least have to love each other but that they don't have to force themselves since they already have a close relationship. Full interview here and you can use google trans on the webpage.
Couple song! Last part. Daou and Offroad's fandom name is Nubdao and they have a song called Nubdao which was written by them and which is about each other. Nubdao means counting the stars.
youtube
Translation of this song in a comment here
Edit: Since we have new people joining the fandom and not so nice comments have been made let me throw in a part of a interview they did for MayaTV this year as well some older statements made.
More than just a 'Ship'

15 Day QL Challenge: Day 8: The Trope You Hate Except When It's "This Series" (catch-up)
Here's the full list of challenges
Okay, sometimes life gets in the way of a 15 day challenge, so I didn't post yesterday. This is yesterday's post, and I'll separately post today's.
In my introduction/tracking post I've listed my least favorite tropes
Falling on someone
Heavy seme/uke dynamic
Northern rural Thai loan sharks
Evil ex
But can't think of any series where I'm okay with that trope. I can think of series I enjoyed that happen to have that trope, but I enjoyed the series in spite of the trope, not because of it.
I also remember a series where somebody almost fell on someone else but didn't and I though "nice trope dodge" but I don't remember what series it was (maybe DNA Says Love You????) and it doesn't really fulfill the challenge.
I don't have time or interest to rewatch The Man Who Defies the World of BL to get a list of tropes, so I'm going to need to go through @absolutebl's #BLtropes posts and see what comes up.
Hmm, I was expecting a link somewhere to comprehensive list of tropes but just seeing various scattered posts. Guess I'll skim through, think about ones I don't like, and pick one that I can meet the challenge with.
Wait! Got it! I still want to go through that hashtag stream sometime, as I love @absolutebl's writing.
I am not a fan of boss/employee. In fact I just added it to my list of un-favored tropes in my Intro/Tracking post.
But I absolutely loved the cringe-filled series Rak Diao aka One Love. It's sitcom format was too over the top to take seriously.
Rak is the boss at the office, but rents an apartment from Diao's sister, so Diao is the boss at home. That sort of balances out the power. But it's expressed in such crazy ways that I was roaring with laughter.
Warning: lots and lots of cringe moment, sexual harassment (str8 and queer) that became tiring but went on, sterotypical queer and female behavior. Laugh track, which this oldster was quite at home with but may put folks off who are used to live audiences for sitcoms.
But so delicious. I probably wouldn't watch it again. But if you're open to something absolutely ridiculous, give it a watch.

Best Siblings Round 1: Thian & Yang (To Sir With Love) vs Diao & Dao (Rak Diao)
[Submitted Reasons Under Cut]
Thian & Yang: "I know this drama isn't as popular but legit they are the best brothers I can't even. The fact that even as children they were so close and supportive. They have different mums and were raised to compete with each other, constantly told to hate the other, but the whole time they stuck by each other. And Yang is so damn protective of Thian and Thian will stand up for Yang and the whole series I'm waiting for the classic 'bros are close, need drama/misunderstanding so they fight' but it never happened?? Thian was literally engaged to the girl Yang loved but they openly communicate the whole time, work together find way out of it. And then Thian dealing with the whole sexuality and the coming out scene where he can't say the words and he doesn't need to bc Yang knows and he doesn't care, he makes sure Thian knows he's loved and he'll do anything to protect Thian's secret and be there for him. I just love them so much and they balance each other so well and I love how they could be interesting and complex characters with great plot and there wasn't a forced third act argument for drama. their mums did all the hating, but those bros stood by each other every step of the way."
Diao & Dao: "While they may not look like it at first glance, with their constant bickering and dramatic antics (hello sitcom writing), the way Dao steamrolls her brother’s boundaries and Diao’s temper tantrums, they actually are quite a sweet pair of siblings. Diao came to live with his sister so she could keep her home after a breakup, and he worries that he may not be able to do so and will cause trouble for her. Dao wants he brother to find someone to build a family with, and even if she teases and mock a little, she worries when he gets in trouble and knows his worth. They do love each other, in their bizarre, over the top ways."

Rules: list 10 of your comfort shows and then tag 10 people
I've been tagged by @bengiyo, thank you! (っ˘ω˘ς )
- Doctor Who: Whatever my mood is, whatever the reason I need some comfort, there’s always one or two episodes of this one that will provide exactly what I need.
- Sense 8: Sometimes I just need to watch people connect, love, learn to understand, and help each other across the world to feel a little less alone a little less sad, and this one does that so beautifully.
- Batman the Animated Series (1992): This one is just a huge part of me. It birthed my love of Batman, super heroes, comic books, animation, and it stays my fave incarnation of the bat. Either in French or in English, this one is always here for me.
- Criminal Minds: I've always had a soft spot for procedural shows- i love a mystery of the week format with a team I can imprint on. So despite the copaganda of it all, I still love this one dearly, the team is one of my favorite and I can rewatch it endlessly.
- Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna: That show opened me up and put me back together when I watched it in february, and I find myself coming back to it often, putting on an episode here and there when I need to feel soft.
- Until We Meet Again: I know this one may not sound like a very comforting show at first glance, what with all the tragedy and sadness. But it’s full of hope, and things DO get better. It also has two fascinating families, great sets of siblings (as always, my weakness), and fantastic friendships. I just cherish it so much, I cry a lot but I always come out of it feeling warmed up.
- Takara kun to Amagi kun: This one did a lot of heavy lifting for me this year. It's soft and gentle, a little silly, it's short so I can watch it over a bad day... it's like a nice little desert and a great pick me up.
- Daria: There are days where nothing can make me feel better but that smart, acerbic, cynical teen and her surviving high school. I discovered this one once I was out of high school but I still feel very attached to Daria who reminds me very much of one of my best friends.
- Love Is More Than a Word: it may not be very well known, and it may have suffered a lot from censorship plot wise giving it a rushed end, but I love this little show beyond words. I adore bumbling magistrate Tao Mo who is so kind and gentle, his relationship with Gu She, it's funny and sweet and touching and they have a wedding at the end I just - I just love it.
- And then, I realized that while I rewatch stuff a lot, when I really need comfort I tend to skim through shows just to put on some very specific scenes so here's a little selection of what has comforted me the most this year: the "Jiu hugging Tian after thinking he got hurt" and the "I love you too I MEAN THE KIDS LOVE YOU" scenes from Khun Chai, the five (ish) Nick/Neil scenes from Love Syndrome III, all the dancing endings of I Will Knock You, the Malik/Ken duet from Rainbow Prince, the "my future boyfriend"-and-squeal between Sky and Jiao in SCOY, the scene where Onoe runs after Kaburagi outside the bar from Ameiro Paradox, the Sean/Maitee crumbs in Star in your mind, the drunk scene that leads to Rak realizing that he's in love with Diao from RakDiao, Xiao Lanhua's proposal to DFQC from LBFD, the hand holding on the bridge in Kieta Hatsukoi...
As always, if you feel like doing it (and haven't done it yet!) 'll tag @troubled-mind @heretherebedork @sparklyeyedhimbo @petrichoraline @benkaaoi @coquelicoq @sauvechouris @scienceoftheidiot @dengswei and @iguessitsjustme
#thank you again for asking!#can't present stuff i like without babbling about it i'm afraid aha#i rewatch shows a lot but to pick myself up I very very often just... go back to small moments that made me feel good#tag games

Not to be that bitch with my fledgling Thai but, to offer a counter to the slightly patronising ask about how the Thai titles are different:
TharnType in Thai: adapted from the novel named "TharnType Story เกลียดนักมาเป็นที่รักกันซะดีๆ", which is also what's on the poster and promo material, translates literally to TharnType Story: Hate very much becomes love better - the translated version is Hate you, love you more, which is pretty accurate. But the native title is still TharnType.
Tonhon Chonlatee in Thai: ต้นหนชลธี. ต้น-Ton หน-hon ช-Ch(on) ลธี-latee.
KinnPorsche in Thai: complicated because of The Backstory, all of the posters and promo is in English, no Thai characters, but the native title is listed as คินน์พอร์ช เดอะซีรีส์ …. which is KinnPorsche The Series.
I'm hunting for others.
Venus in the Sky? I'm not sure that counts but it is the character names. Native title ห้ามฟ้าห่มดาว - stop/ban sky wearing stars. I'm… not sure that makes more sense, but sure.
Ai Long Nhai - again, not sure this counts, but they're called Ai and Nhai. Native title is อัยย์หลงไน๋, Ai [is infatuated with] Nhai.
Rak Diao - รักเดียว. Rak Diao. Love Stars. But that's because their names translate to Love and Star/Stars. So.
In general, yeah, Thai titles are different, but in the couple-naming-convention? Largely seems faithful to the Thai. I'm not here to say any of them are especially good or bad, I'm just being an arse :) <3
Well, that's interesting! They generally seem to follow the same pattern in the original Thai while also including some sort of addition 🤔
RE: KinnPorsche, I remember reading that the Thai title has a different translation somewhere but it's been so long since then I would never be able to find where I read it again. Maybe somebody else has a clue?!
I do want to add, though, that not all the titles with the couple's name in them are bad (KP and Rak Diao from the list you mentioned imo); I've watched BL with complicated Thai titles that were much worse than almost all of the ones mentioned here; and finally, there are also a lot of show with just one of the characters' names in the title which seem to have a very high incidence of not being very good 😬
I think this needs more research 🧐
