I'm the mod for the doyouknowthisql blog and I just ran a poll for Tonhon Chonlatee and had someone in the tags eagerly recommending it, saying it was really good and worth watching. So you know, takes all types I guess

Unpopular opinion: I though TC was ok. Though it probably owes that opinion to the fact that it was easy to watch after work when I was too tired to think about anything

To be quite honest, my friend, "Tonhon Chonlatee is not that bad if you turn off your brain while watching it" is not as convincing a defense as you make it seem 😆

Still, the people have spoken! But I nonetheless appreciate that everyone's defenses trascend the end of the voting. 💕

FUTS person again. I decided to watch the mighty winner Tonhon Chonlantee, just in case it was another case of BL fans being haters. I'm in episode 6 and, omg, it's so bad. It's so crass and homophobic it looks like a show from the 90s. The jokes are not funny, the story is a mess, everything is homophobic, I can't think of a single thing I like about this show, it's not even funny because the jokes are so outdated and offensive. I don't think my opinion is going to change (for the better at least) in the 4 episodes it has remaining. Deserved winner, no notes.

PS thank you for this tournament, it offered something new, and I enjoyed reading people's opinions. If you do an identity reveal, I want to be your internet friend.

I love that you saw all the criticism Tonhon Chonlatee got and thought "Sure sounds like a show I should be watching." Condolences, my friend, and congrats on the courage. Although all you said is true, I will give Tonhon Chonlatee one single saving grace: it has Neo and his character is actually awesome. Also, I feel like I should say this as it's one of the things about the show that's been mentioned the most in tags defending it: sure, it has Jan too, but Miriam's whole story arc is some of the most misogynist shit I've ever seen.

Late in the game, but to people saying Sky In You Heart is boring : I held an entire conversation with a person who knows absolutely nothing about the BL world but everything about stones and how you charge them with positive energy under the moonlight, so. You might want to rethink the boredom. At least this show gave us something.

Unlike TC, which got the top place it oh-so-much deserved.

Heh, I don't know, I don’t think the boring accusations are off-base tbh. Let's just say: if this had been a tournament about the most boring GMMTV BL series, SIYH would have probably left every other contestant in the dust but in this case, the Tonhon Chonlatee win is fully deserved. I will say, I did have a moment of pause when voting in the Ultimate Final, though, so I kinda get where everybody's coming from. Sky in Your Heart's boringness and Tonhon Chonlatee's overall badness are not mutually exclusive 😂

In conclusion, l'm personally very satisfied with the result and the winner.

I created this tournament and I'm confused too! 😵‍💫 But I think I get that you're saying it should have survived longer in the tournament... I think... But Tonhon Chonlatee does deserve the win, in all fairness. It didn't lose ONCE! That's hella impressive.

After a long and tortuous journey filled with fun, with opinions on the shows and on the BL business at large, with wonderful interactions and bat-shit insane rounds of polling, we're finally here.

Before we get to officially announce the winner of the Worst GMMTV Boy's Love Series Tournament, I would like to thank everyone for playing along with me for the past ten weeks. I created this tournament to have a little fun in a very difficult time and I could have never hoped to get to interact with each and every one of you to the extent that I have and I truly cherish each and every message you have sent me and the amount of love you have given this silly little game. I'm especially thankful for how amazingly everyone has taken the spirit of this tournament. When I first started entertaining the thought of doing this, I was afraid I was stoking some dangerous fires but at the same time hopeful that this would be received as the fun little attempt at taking ourselves and our tastes not so seriously in fandom that it was meant to be.

I am truly thrilled at all the reactions this got, I had the utmost fun even when seeing my favourite shows go much further in the tournament than I was hoping because, ultimately, it doesn't really matter who won and who lost. I'm just glad we all got together to have this fun little game and my last hope for it is that it brought at least a little joy to at least a few of you.
