#rainbow rabies

I've been hanging onto these for a long while and I've been so very excited to share them! I've been slowly writing my own infection au, while trying to figure out writing for personalities and conflicts, to better understand them myself, but I'll try to keep key points intact for each character!

I'm also going to be practicing poses, expressions, and body-types in a cartoonish style! I will be doing new things occasionally, in colors, always, as an artist. I don't know how well it will transverse from screen to screen on devices!

All of the CMC have some form of muscle built for/from various needs and reasons! Their body types pull into this just as much!

Scootaloo is the tallest and slimmest. Sweetie is chubby and shortest of them. Bloom just works very hard to keep her beef, more on that later! They're always running around, doing strong things as fillies!

Ack! There's reasoning for Sweetie to be lacking the CMC! As she travels to Canterlot more often with Rarity for Trips, though of course that means she's working for the CMC there too. She's just busy running supplies runs and running the shop, while promoting newer teen clothing.

Sweetie has a single scar from their misadventures as young fillies, which makes Rarity fret to no end. First time she saw it, she screamed, but she understands the trouble thanks to her own journey. Belle also understands her sisters worry, but she feels stronger with it. She's also glad to be matching Applebloom.

Which is great, because Scoots and Bloom have matching eyebrow scars too. They all chat about the stories behind them too.

AB gets hers from all the work she does from working and disciplining herself between The Orchard with Jack and Bic Mac or Pinkie Pie and the Sugarcube Corner. Her spirit boils to hard work, and her will is rock solid in that motif/lifestyle. She gets 6, sometimes 7 if she's lucky, hours of sleep with a strict bedtime.

Scootaloo is still a little sleazy in working, and is slowly working the courage to ask Applebloom about that life style motivation junk. She's been trying to since before her flight exam. In this RF AU, she passes her test. A genetic defect in her wings made them too small to functionally fly, but she can glide in average lengths for functional Pegasi wings. With this information, RD had taken it into account that some Disabled Pegasi can get smaller jobs inside the facility as messengers, with hopes to give Scootaloo a position (Unbeknownst to her little sister.) This implemented a course for Disabled Pegasi.

EDITING ONE TIME, because I forgot to talk more on the Ochard and Baking thing!

Applebloom is absolutely capable of rocking someone's shit cause Pinkie has her doing rough and hard labor! She's always moving ovens, reorganizing, sharpening, and cleaning items! A constant move over there!

And when she's home on her Sister's Farm, she's bucking every tree in sight until her fur is tufts of drying sweat at the end of the day.

She's also going back and forth on CMC involved Missions with Scootaloo, since she views her Cutie Mark as her work and all, a lives goal, Girl's got plans and schedule!

I believe that's all I'll share for now! I will be thinking and mulling over on everything in my head, but the process is admittedly a slow one that I want to put care into. My mental health often times affects my motivation which results in horrid burn out, only recently I've been giving myself art breaks I'm hoping talking with the fandom and engaging will help me feel better about doing all this work myself! (It is a rough, rewarding endeavor!)

After breaking out of the prison, Dream gets bit by a bat acting oddly on his way to meet up with Punz. Months later, Dream has fully contracted Rabies and is feral. Punz takes Dream to a base far away from spawn to try to cure him of his affliction. The AU is based around Punz and Dream living together where every two weeks Punz must kill Dream and bring him back, even with Dream begging him not to.

About to redesign my Rainbow Rabies AU stuff!

I'll be redoing the stages and specials of the infection and be redesigning the mane 6! They'll get refs, and follow up refs for something I'm plotting :>

I’m asking this out of pure curiosity, in another post you said one of the reasons you don’t like the nightmare critters is because they don’t follow the design rules set by the smiling critters, exactly what do you mean by that? Like in your words what does a critter have to look like to be considered a smiling critter? I’m not trying to be rude or anything I’m just trying to understand what you mean

I dont find this rude don't worry- a lot of people don't actually notice this, but sometimes when a group of characters are designed together, in order to make them look cohesive, there are unspoken rules that may go unnoticed to viewers untrained eye, but helps keeps the characters looking like they came from the same place.

I mentioned, back when I was into Welcome Home, that they used a very special rainbow pallet that hardly ever included purple.

And when old black and white cartoons are brought up, there's specific clothing and anatomy (like pie cut eyes and hose-like limbs) that define the rules of the era.

If you want a cohesive character design, you have to pick out the rules, and then decide when breaking them would benefit the character in a way that won't break the viewers immersion.

Some of the most obvious rules I caught for the smiling critters:

- 2 color pallet.

- Simple Charms

- Tongues but NO TEETH

- Dynamic posing that speaks to their personality

Some of the critters break these rules for the benefit of diversity, but never ALL of them! Dogday is the leader, so he gets an extra color, Crafty is all white, but her CHARM is rainbow, so it balances it out. Kicken doesn't use a lot of his second color, because the LEADER is also using that color.

None of their charms get that detailed. All of them maintain the no teeth rule because that was the whole fucking point of their creepy factor- big open GAPING maws, no teeth. And all of their poses spoke to their personalities. Half of them aren't just *standing there* with a hand up for no reason, and none of them used the same pose.

Now let's compare with these rejects.

Ignoring the fact that Mob Entertainment failed to realize they didn't even post the right images for the first three nightmare critters they showed off (failing to include the iconic smiling critters line-shadow-effect)

-Simon, Maggie, Rabie, Allister and Touille break the color pallet rule, this amount needs to be lowered. To like 3 at most. Holy shit.

-Icky, Maggie, Touille, and Baba's charms are FAR to detailed, they do not need to be.

-THE TEETH OH MY GOD I HATE THE TEETH SO FUCKING MUCH you have ruined anything scary about them in one simply design choice I hope you're happy Mob entertainment.

- Touille and Allister have the same pose. Icky and Maggie have the same pose. Simon and Poe have the same pose. And NONE of them are as effective at telling their personalities as much as the smiling critters were.

Further more- even beyond rules. Icky is FUNDAMENTALY FLAWED as a design. They're ugly- not to mention we all struggled to know what the fuck he actually WAS supposed to be when he was released. It took someone pointing out that he didn't have a tail for me to realize he was one of those toxic frogs.

If you're gonna make something based on a group of characters you ALREADY made, and try to pass them off as new characters, I expect the rules to be the same. These are ugly knock offs made to sell more plushies on Mob entertainments website and I hate them with every FIBER of my being.

Ohh, how I utterly ADORE all your worldbuilding ideas and thoughts on MLP!! Quick question, if that's alright by you... Applebloom has some noticeable FruitVamp features, do Applejack, Big Mac, and Granny Smith also have slight, vampire-esc features? Does their entire family line, due to the nature of their work, have a robust immunity to the maladies that the bats spread? Do they wear suits in highly infested areas to prevent bites, or do they go in unprotected because they're just that tough?

Most ponies know not to handle bats! Like humans it's common knowledge that you don't mess with bats. And if it isn't, you can contract rabies from a bite that doesn't even register while you're carrying a bat outside to release it. You can get rabies and not even know you're bitten. And then you die.

Fluttershy's friends trusted her animal handling skills to keep her unscathed, but even animal whisperers shouldn't handle bats without protection! So it's a tale of hubris.

Apple bloom just chased after bats because she wanted to see if bat wrangling was her life's calling. She was being a stupid kid and got bit.

Flim and Flam were tearing down trees that bats nested in, while the rest of the apple farmers would be more careful to make sure any critters cleared out first. They got attacked and flam caught the vamprus
