Thragg can just give you The Look and you INSTANTLY know you're in for a punishment, or that he's absolutely furious, and you're on your knees, "Please Daddy I'm sorry I didn't mean it, I was angry, please don't be upset with me, i-i-i just dont like you being disappointed in me, i love you and i want us to get along 🥺" and like. Nolan/Thragg getting in a physical fight and they could be getting maimed and disembowled or taking punches and it's like whatever, they're still chilling, but, do some shit like, knock their treasured keychain out of their pocket that you gave them or an embroidered handkerchief or just a little personal photo of you they keep on them gets ruined in the scuffle, oh, oh, NOW they're fucking pissed, NOW they've got some serious unfinished business in this fight and their opponents get DEMOLISHED and they're sitting there pouting with their broken/ruined thing you gave them because even if they got a new one from you, this one still had memories and sentimental value

I feel like similar to parents keeping baby teeth, Thragg would keep things like, first weapon you ever trained with, memorial photo of your first spar with another child that you won, your first flightsuit, a toddlers toy that was crushed on accident because you suddenly got your powers and had far too much strength than you knew what to do with. And Nolan, if he's raising you on Earth with Debbie, he's at all your school functions, whether it's dancing or sports, and if you aren't in those things, he encourages you HEAVILY (it totally isn't. Training or anything or making sure you're staying fit and active for anything in the future hahaha). He's taking photos and cheering in the crowds. He wants your art in his office. He wants to play games with you once you get your powers. He buys a case for any medals and trophies to proudly display.

Also like do you have any idea how much of an actual phenomenon it is, I've seen videos of it, where dads basically have infinitely more sympathy for their new daughters when they already have sons. I distinctly remember a video where a man was holding his second-born, his first daughter, and he was like weeping because he was feeling intense empathy for his infant daughter because she was crying and looking at him as he held her, and the wife was filming and it was captioned "he never did this with our son" and like. LMAO, THAT'S NOLAN WITH YOU WHEN YOU CRY. THAT'S THRAGG SUDDENLY GIVING A FUCK ABOUT ONLY YOU SPECIFICALLY AFTER LIKE TONS OF KIDS.

Daughter Reader would definitely be their spoiled little princess but you're also their spoiled little princess under very specific terms of CONTAINMENT AND SURVEILLANCE. You've got curfews, they need to know who your friends are, what families do they come from, what do their parents do. They'll treat you like a princess but they'll also socially isolate you from others and. Basically control your life. And if you ever try and pull away from Dear Old Dad, well. Viltrumites can have some pretty extreme reactions. Will Nolan have to disfigure that boy you won't stop talking to? Will Thragg have to build a pretty little cell so that his adult daughter doesn't sneak out to drink and fuck unknown men? That's up to how much of an obedient faithful daughter you want to be. Don't make them do something only you will regret ❤️

"Whats your name girl?" you wanted to roll your eyes but refrained as the new commander of the nights watch, barely a man in your opinion tried to be intimidating in a room full of equally unintimatading men.

As dumb as they looked they still outnumbered you like 100 to 1. So you begrudgingly decided to answer.

"Y/n"

The lord commander, or more commonly known as Jon snow the bastard of winterfell, nodded once, satisfied that he finally gotten a word out of you.

"Well y/n, seeing as your people are gone-"

"Dead you mean" you couldn't help but bite out. "You crows saw to that"

Those damn crows had raided your village and slaughtered everyone save yourself.

"You're lucky we didn't gut you along with the rest of those filthy wildlings" one man spat out stepping forward but was halted by the commander, "Enough!"

"We had no choice, they trespassed and started to cause trouble-"

"Trespassed?! That land has been ours for generations, and just because some rich folk came and decided to put up a wall and cast us out, we're the criminals?!" You felt your anger rise again. "We didnt do anything wrong! We were just trying to survive like everyone else in this stupid godsforsaken world!"

The lord commander sighed with fustration, he tried to have patience, after all she was more or less a child. Well a child with the mouth of a 40 year old sailor.

"I'm sorry y/n, but there are rules, and they broke those rules"

"Rules?" You scoffed, "And who decided on those rules hmm? Certainly not the people who lived here, so tell me Snow, why the hell should any of us listen to rules that were forced on us?! In our eyes you are the enemy. We were just people, trying to not starve and freeze to fucking death and you slaughter us like animals!" You felt the burn behind your eyes as you remembered the screams and smell of blood. But you would die before you cried in front of these heartless butchers.

"I'm sorry that you had to witness it, but you have a choice to make now" he looked into your eyes with seriousness. "You can either be sent back beyond the wall or..." he paused hesitantly, "you can serve as a steward here"

You almost laughed, "Are you drunk Snow?!? Or do you actually think those are fair options?"

"Considering I'm already bending the rules by letting you live, yes I do" he said firmly.

You let out a humorless laugh, "So you think throwing me into the wilderness alone is fair? Or I suppose making me a slave to the nights watch is somehow better?" You glared at the men around you. Half of them fithly pigs who would no doubt use you whenever they got the chance.

"No harm would come to you if you stayed, of this you have my word. And you wouldn't be a slave. You'd be my steward."

But I wouldnt be allowed to leave, so a slave... but it's either that or what's beyond the wall.. I wouldn't last a day alone... after a while of silently debating I looked up into the killer's eyes, and sealed my fate with a nod.

The first week was hell. All you wanted to do was murder every crow you saw.

If you had poison you would've wasted no time spilling it in the stew you had to carry to commander stupids room every evening.

He acted like he cared, asked about if you had enough to eat and if anyone had been bothering you. But you ignored him. He was just trying to get you to trust him, and then he would turn on you. It was all a sick game, you were sure of it.

Another few weeks passed in a similar manner, he gave up on trying to make conversation which you were ever thankful for.

Not having anyone to talk to was the worst part. Your days were horribly dull. You cleaned, did laundry, prepped meals and repeat. Other than glares no one had messed with you which you were kinda disappointed in to be honest. You would take any excuse to blacken and bruise those ugly mugs of theirs...

Apparently the gods had a sense of humor because the next day you found yourself cornered by two of them.

"You should be on your knees thanking us girl" one of them sneered.

"We coulda left you for dead with those other savages but we didnt. And all you've been is given attitude."

"It ain't right"

"No it ain't" they agreed.

While they yapped you were mentally figuring out how you were gonna fight your way out of this one. Three against one wasnt exactly fair, and it's not like snow let you carry around your weapons. And the fact that you were far away, gathering firewood when they cornered you wasn't ideal.

Ugly man number one tsked when he saw your wandering eyes, "no use screamin girl, no ones gonna hear you"

"What the fuck do you want, the sooner you tell me, the sooner I dont have to look at your ugly faces" you couldn't help but want to anger them.

The bald one shoved your shoulder against the wall, on instinct you swooped your arm over his and brought it down, severing the hold and then you kneed him in the groin...hard.

"You bitch!" He faltered and you took that opportunity to try and get away. Ugly number 2 grabbed the cloth of your shirt and pulled back but you quickly shoved an elbow hard into his face.

While you were distracted, the third man, let's call him horse face, pulled your hair harshly until you were tumbling to the ground with a grunt.

It didnt take long for the other 2 to recover and help horse face pin you down. P

A deep rooted panic spread across your body. "Get the fuck off me!" You tried to hide the fear in your voice as you thrashed.

"Shut up wilding whore!" You heard the sharp smack before you felt the pain blossom against your cheek.

"You got the mouth of a slut, now let's see if you've got the body of one" your eyes widened and you felt a rough hand slide under your tunic.

"S-stop it! I swear I'll kill-" he shut you up with another sharp slap. You could now taste copper in your mouth.

"I swear to God if you say one more word I'll cut out that sharp tongue of yours" he pulled his knife out of its sheath and pressed the cold metal against your cheek. You winced as he pressed in and you knew he had broken skin.

You tried to be strong but you were terrified. These men were going to rape you and you didnt have the strength like you thought you did to stop them.

You closed your eyes praying to whatever gods were out there that this would not happen. But the gods were cruel. They had allowed the crows to wipe out the only people you had to call family. No they weren't yours by blood, but they had taken you in and cared for you. Taught you how to hunt, how to fight, and now this is how your life was going to end.

"That's a good girl" he took your silence as compliance and started to kiss down your neck.

You shivered in disgust and fear, one hand placed firmly on your neck keeping you in place and the other was exploring beneath your shirt.

You didnt want to give up, you wanted to fight. You didnt want to be raped and killed. How would you ever face your family in the after life if you didnt put up a decent fight. Taking a deep breathe , with the risk of losing your tongue looming in your mind, you clenched your fists and let out your last shred of hope,

"GHOOOOOST" you hoped the wolf you had come to befriend could hear through the walls.

"WHAT DID I FUCKING TELL YOU" he clamped a crushing hand over your mouth.

"W-we should g-go, what if that mutt heard?" Horse face looked around nervously.

"Shut up Pud, no way that he can hear all the way in here"

"But-"

"Oh for god sakes, hold her down and be quiet!" He motioned for horse face to clamp my mouth shut instead whilst he began unbuckling his trousers.

"Before I cut that pretty tongue of yours, I'm gonna see how it feels around my c-AHH FUCK" a giant streak of white crossed your vision.

"HELP YOU IDIOTS, DONT JUST STAND THERE, FUCK!" You heard growling and tearing sounds.

The mens hold on you immediately loosened and you took that chance to sit up and see what the hell was going on. And when you saw the familiar white fur and black eyes you almost cried in relief.

Ghost had launched himself at your assailant and was currently biting away at his arm. The other two turned tail quick and made for the door, thinking they could escape, but what they did not expect was a very angry lord commander blocking their way.

"Ghost" he called back his wolf who growled at the men before walking back and standing beside his master.

You couldn't tell whose eyes were more threatening, the wolf, or the bastard wolf..

Before you knew what was happening several crows flooded the room and arrested the bleeding man and his friends.

The commanders attention was now on you. You rolled onto you knees and tried to stand up but found that someone had traded your legs for jelly cakes.

"Y/n" you immediately looked down, not wanting him to see how afraid you were.

You were surprised at how soft the commanders voice was now compared to two seconds ago when he ordered they be taken to the prisons. "Are you alright?" He knelt down in front of you and reached a hand out to your face.

You flinched and he hesitantly pulled back, "Its alright now, your safe, please... let me help you" he said almost pleading.

You don't know what came over you but something was telling you that it was ok to trust him so you nodded.

This time when he reached a hand to lift your face up you didnt pull away.

You met his eyes and found anger and regret in them, "I'm sorry"

You were instantly confused, "For what?" You questioned as he continued to inspect your injuries.

"I said that no harm would come to you, I shouldve kept a closer eye on you" he apologized with a look of deep regret.

You didnt know what to say. Why was he being so nice to you?! It didnt make any sense, weren't the crows supposed to be the bad ones? But he saved you...well ghost did lead them to you so you really should be thanking him but...

You didnt really know how to respond so you just stayed quiet. He moved to help you up, gentle hands supporting you. When it was clear you couldn't stand on your own he asked if you would let him help you to maester aemon.

Reluctantly you nodded and was surprised when he swooped down and gently lifted you up like those dumb princesses you heard about in fairy tales.

You thought he was just gonna help you walk with a slung over arm or something.... if you weren't so exausted you probably would've been way more embarrassed.

Wordlessly he carried you through the halls and into Maester Aemons infirmary. He set you down on the bed with care and said he would be back to check on you later. The maester was already by your side examining your injuries.

You dont know what came over you, but before you knew what was happening your mouth opened and halted the lord commander through the door.

"Thank you snow..." you were glad he was facing the door, you were sure your face was bright red.

But if he had been facing you, you would've seen his smile.

Maybe not all the crows were so bad after all...

i have so many answers to this that idk if i can choose lol. anything lol, anything. they could do anything. i dont want them to lose the spirit of their concept and sound, but there are infinite directions they could take their concept without losing that spirit.

piri! i love deja vu though. piri was the song that got me into them and deja vu was my first comeback with them, so i have an attachment to both, but i would have to say piri, yeah

oh shit really? uhh idk if i can do that but... i mean i gotta say siyeon right? her voice *is* dreamcatcher to me. her voice defines their sound more than anything else, even more than their rock concept. like for real, her voice is more integral to the feel of a dreamcatcher song than the guitars or sort of dark vibe. well, her voice brings the dark vibe a lot of the time, honestly. after that i’d say jiu cause her voice is the total opposite, she has the voice you would least associate with a concept like this, but that serves to add a lot of range to their sound too. her voice is so vividly bright and cheerful... so, dreamcatcher’s dark concepts are defined by siyeon for me, and dreamcatcher’s lively personality and energy onstage and offstage are defined by jiu for me. those first lines of “wake up”? iconic, full of energy, aaaaaa i love her. after that i guess i’d say yoohyeon cause she’s the lead vocalist lol. and then... about the same for the rest. i dont have an order from then on. they’re one of the groups where i think it’s the easiest to tell which member is singing just from audio alone, all seven of them have distinct vocal characters. the only two that i sometimes mix up (again, just based on audio only) are sua and gahyeon. or dami when she sings lol

i tend to watch dreamcatcher notes more because there’s more going on a lot of the time, cause they’re like behind the scenes stuff. also.... there are some members whose vlogs im more likely to watch right away than others lol... though im working my way through all of them little by little so i’ll see all of them eventually. if jiu posts a vlog it’s immediate haha i’m on it immediately

sua - hmmm.... im having trouble remembering which eras were which for certain members... i know she had reddish purplish hair for piri right? i cant remember some of them though... like she didnt have as many drastically different looks as someone like siyeon or dami. maybe i’ll say good night though, purely because of her rap haha. EDIT: oh shit i looked at photos from the eras after all, and oh my god i forgot about you and i... nevermind lol scratch that, it’s you and i. those designs she had in her hair were super cool

siyeon - deja vu, specifically the part where she had short blue hair. amazing. flawless. legendary. stories will be told of those days

handong - her ‘what’ era is probably her most popular, but actually im gonna say deja vu. i liked her short blonde hair, it looks really good on her. the first thing that came to mind is her with that hair and those purple/black deja vu outfits... im thinking of some photos from some fansigns... yeah. 

yoohyeon - deja vu again lol, sorry about the recency bias haha. this is the era she viciously and savagely bias wrecked me. especially during those fanmeetings where she had a ponytail and was wearing a suit... oh my god lol she knew exactly what she was doing. they all know exactly how good they look in suits and they subject us to it as often as they can lol. her grey hair during you and i is iconic too, and the red she had during good night... but i think im gonna stick with my answer

each member individually??? that’s too time consuming woirjgeoiwrgew but i do have individual answers for all of them probably lol. especially yoohyeon, i wanna talk to her about languages. i’ll just say to all of them how much i appreciate them and how they arent boxed in by typical idol conventions, but they also arent boxed in as outside them either. like, they’re not an anti-kpop-group, they’re not the complete antithesis, they like being a kpop group and they like other kpop groups so they would never want to be that. i like how much fun they have, i like how close they are, i like how they treat their fans, i think if the fandom did something really awful or went too far i like to think they would feel comfortable letting us know. hopefully, anyway. more than most other kpop groups i’m aware of, it’s easy to find them in videos and vlives and stuff not being totally in idol-mode and just being people, and friends with their members. im not criticizing other groups, cause if i was in their position, i think i would have a hard time not being “on” when on camera, even if it’s just a vlive. maybe it’s because they’ve known each other for a lot longer than a lot of other current-gen groups, and they’re older than many of their current-gen peers too. they feel very earnest, they’re not trying to hide. im sure there are aspects to them that we dont know about and will never know about, and i hope that’s the case cause i hope they’re able to maintain some privacy in this job, but it’s not hard to tell when someone is being genuine and when someone isn’t, and i get a very genuine vibe from them a lot of the time. i’m glad they are who they are, they’re really influential and inspirational to me.  i.... also might wanna mention their support for lgbt people, though i would want to talk to them about that in private because it’s personal for me and risky for them and i know how shitty that situation is, especially since i know that they care and would be a lot more vocal if they could be. and they’re one of the most vocal groups about it already! i just want to thank them.

You can give advice? O.O PLEASE TELL ME YOUR STRATEGY FOR BRAVE VERONICA.

Brave Veronica, hm? Well, personally my strategy is this guy walking in her range and taking 0 damage from one to four times (depending on dance and speed), then kills her/holds her attention while others can get the Aether. It actually works but… this answer may (more like, it will) not suit like… the majority? So here’s other options:

 (read more since it’s another long post) 

 First of all, what do we need to do with B!Vero? Her huge range will make it difficult to (safely) kill her from a distance, so logical decision would be bait her closer to your team and kill her there… and she, like all staves, has a dazzling effect… BUT. You dont have to kill her the exact second she approaches you. It’s very possible to survive one-two (or even three-four, if she gets repo’d back and danced) of her attacks without much damage and kill her on the subsequent player phase very easily, because of how frail she is near enemies, and all her attacks were charging your special... 

“Normal” Veronica of a player, who put her in a def team cause she’s “meta” has 49 attack and 36 speed (neutral IV + 3att A). “Super-invested” (+att IV, +10, atk/spd solo A, AND dragonflowers) Veronica has 60 attack and 47 speed… Usually you’ll be seeing something in-between. With only 54 attack on average and no access to offensive specials - that’s something a good number of heroes can take. If baited at max range - she is also away from her team - no goads/drives.

Note: with her abysmal HP - any visible buff she can receive is an invitation to panic ploy. Since there’s a lot of panic tools in AR now (Panic ploy users, panic manor, Aversa in particular) visible buffs on defensive teams arent popular (unless they use a rally/restore+ trick, watch out for that, but that’s -1 dancer turn already), but if she has a visible - you can panic it, go ahead. She has silly res too so all other ploys like atk ploy will easily land too. It applies to every other enemy too, but Veronica in particular is easily ploy-able. 

What heroes we can use for this?

Disclaimer: I’m not saying these are the only characters that can be used to bait and kill Veronica, but rather something popular/requiring lower investment.  

Eir. Just free vanilla Eir. She was inroduced as a pretty much forced memeber of every raiding party during light season and beyond, and she has pretty strong stats and skills to deal with Veronica. Her base res with Lifjaberg is 34 (can be further buffed by allies and/or S slot), her B skill effectively halves damage dealt by staff users, and even that damage will be partially (or fully, since far from every Vero will double Eir) healed after combat. There isnt much Veronica can do against Eir in any given situation. I personally know people who were literally saved from doom when they found out Eir can bait Veronica. 

Raven mages are very effective against Veronica, since she cant inherit Cancel Affinity, like some sly archers do. Raven mages with Triangle Adept are hard counters to Veronica, since they needs only around 35 res to take 0 damage from Veronica (or close to that) even after she applies her staff effect, and in turn need very low attack (like 40) to OHKO her on their phase.

  Any mage you inherit a raven tome and TA onto can fit the bill, as long as they have at least ~20 starting Res on them (Res tactic/class buff on ally + Distant Defence SS will bring their res to 35 range) which isnt too much. Gronnraven+  users are preffered meta-wise, because along with Veronica and other colorless threats, they will be able to take on blues like Reinhardt. But other colors are viable too! After all people like Lilina and Lewyn exist too. 

 Units that naturally come with Raven tomes are: Cecilia (I used her to cheese through lower tiers, where VeroLynHardt was a constant thing, pretty solid unit), F/M!Robin (both have prf raven which will help a lot in tactic teams that dont have many spare slots for visible buffs, although F!Robin is preferred for Green color), newly refined Sophia, Lyon and Henry (although less reliable due to very low attack. might get a refine soon). But again - any mage with above 20 res (I’d suggest also having above 20 def too for archer/dagger purposes) can run a Raven (PA!Inigo is a popular choice, since he is green and can also double as a dancer) 

Magic tanks (of any color again) will have little problems baiting Veronica with little harm too, since dedicated PP mages actually hurt more than her (but can be killed with counterattacks ay). There’s a big variety of heroes that would fit in this category. My boy Julius actually sits here, with his atrocious magic damage soaking abilities, but I’d also note ranged heroes like Leo, Micaiah, Deirdre, Kliff, F!Morgan, Innes, Felicia, W!Ceclila, built enemy phase, and others, whose weapons directly reduce damage or have a lot of res, making stacking res an option. Double distant def and guard bow/serpent tome with a visible res buff from an ally will bump up your res by so much that having 30 base may entirely/almost nullify damage from Veronica. 

While ranged units typically have more res, Dragon units are often built into mixed tanks with lots of defences, and 4* ones are also popular merge projects so chances are you might have one merged. W!Fae is a res monster, Myrrh with her prf hold a special place in my heart, others with ~30 base res like Fae can be brough up and used as mixed/res tanks too, which should cover Veronica. Other melee units with high res and useful skills like Sheena and Fjorm can be of use too, even if some of them dont run DC/DC weapons because you arent counterattacking anyway.  BUT if you have a wall between her and your melee unit - you’ll have to use something ranged to actually go for a kill. (not that it’s too bad)   

Head-on method - Nailah and her Null-C-Disrupt. Extra and premium, but … also worth mentioning.

Of course each different situation requires a unique approach in terms of positioning, sometimes you can go around some buildings and assassinate Veronica first, sometimes you can avoid combat with Veronica on first combat phase and bait someone else, so on so forth, but here’s just some general ideas that may help. 

Also another note: Double savage blow (that Veronicas often run) doesnt affect the target, so if you dont put anyone within 2 spaces of Veronica’s target - no one will take splash damage. Eir’s C skill heals everyone as long as they took equal amount of damage, so sometimes it may be not that bad. 

About Restore+: if enemy Veronica has Restore+ and her ally in range has any negative status effect - she will prioritize healing them instead of attacking someone she cant kill (or significantly damage, unfortunately I dont know the details but the idea is that it’s not a unit you want to bait her with). You will need to get the enemy formation moving your way by killing/damaging or baiting someone else, unless number of enemy units with negative status effects (excluding veronica) She will start healing statuses even before you trigger the rest of enemy movement so be careful for her not to catch you off guard with shifted range, because a dancer will dance her after she heals! The rest of enemies wont move before you interact with them anyway. This applies to any staff user with Restore+.    

I hope you find something that you like using and Veronica stops being a problem!!

issues with blood & wine

cdpr litcherally took away all the development that vampires got in the book series, despite blood & wine adding more vampire lore, and ill explain how

retcons & just weird differences from canon

blood & wine paints vampires as this big evil secret society and civilization whereas in the books they literally do not have more society than “a bunch of frat guys and sorority girls getting wasted every full moon”

the vampire lore they added with mentions and/or demonstrations of human cattle, bloodthirst as a form of torture, the hierarchy with unseen elders, drinking blood being seen as something much darker and sinister all together instead of a vice of vampires like alcoholism is a vice to humanity, and the whole dumbass retcon about the conjunction of the spheres. 

the views on blooddrinking introduced in blood & wine lead to annoyingly misplaced dialogue with geralt and regis like geralt mentioning vampires “treating humans like cattle to slaughter” which, they dont, and which geralt learned in baptism of fire, then remarking disapprovingly that humans are more like an open bar then. this dialogue makes no sense even because that’s NOT how vampires in the witcher function

regis’s torture in la cage au fou is just basically torture porn and is pretty unnecessary. but it’s also overdone because it’s not like regis has been sober for centuries, he broke his sobriety at stygga and therefore has only been sober for 8 years, which... he spent dead. so the temptation of relapse would already be an issue for him, which should have provided enough tension and angst for all of us. the scene in la cage au fou also depicts such a visceral pain of bloodlust and doesn’t show WHY it’s such a widespread temptation and vice for vampires... which imo would be more powerful as both a plot point and statement

side note: not vampire related but geralt and regis literally dont talk about the hansa at all and it annoys me because regis seems depressed for No Specific Reason besides dettlaff’s situation when we know that he and geralt experienced great loss at stygga and are struggling to cope with that

side side note: considering regis broke his sobriety at stygga and could be struggling with thoughts of relapse already, knowing that he’s depressed about the loss of milva angouleme and cahir could provide for some more angst and tension :/

the vampire claws are ugly and not lore-friendly. why not just give them short claws on their hands. when regis and other vampires fight in the books, they barely use their claws anyways. they turn invisible, turn into bats, scream, etc.

the smoke/fog effect annoys me because there’s no mention of that in the books, only of them turning invisible. and you can SEE smoke/fog so tell me what is the point

the op-ness of vampires bothers me because vampires were already op in the books and making them moreso just is annoying because it’s unbalanced. i guess this is partially due to an issue in the books where sapkowski never explained how a vampire could truly be killed, but my interpretation is that sapkowski intended to portray regis as “truly killed” at the end of the series, just obliterated beyond his regenerative ability within the near centuries... i mean it took him half a century to grow back a head, how long would it take him to regenerate his entire body? forever, which is pretty akin to ‘death.’ there wasn’t a need to add social rules about vampires killing vampires because... vampires could ‘die’. but cdpr introduced dettlaff regrowing his hand within like, 3 days, and that was that. i don’t disagree with some of the regenerative things depicted, like regis regenerating after dettlaff spears him lol, that was pretty cool and reminiscent of the battle of the bridge where he regenerated from an arrow piercing in about 2 minutes. but for things more severe than flesh wounds........ i can’t support that because it’s too unrealistic given the canon from the books

i like dettlaff’s monster form, i really do, but seeing as how the books say that vampires turn into BATS............................. i guess it is said that all vampires are unique and have different powers, but come on, what is that, that is not even bat-like, or MAYBE do something with the MOTH aesthetic he was given?? he should have had like, locust powers or something cool, come on....

speaking of animal affinities, this is really nitpicky at this point lol, but regis’s corvids not being shown as birds of omen or some dark motif and instead as just General Helpers......... when they attack stygga in lady of the lake, the birds crowd the fort and circle around it, causing the guards outside to all stir and worry about what ill fate is to befall them. it’s intended to be super creepy and worrying. iirc when regis was around corvids also tended to perch in the trees, sort of ominously signaling that he was around... in blood & wine they’re good boys and i love them, but they’re not entirely creepy enough. think of how regis’s gwent card depicts the corvids as an example of a step in the right direction. what im saying basically is less doctor doolittle and more the birds, please. 

honorable mention is regis’s hairline and facial hair. baptism of fire described him as looking middle-aged, so he should look around 45. that is all

the conjunction retcons introduced are just confusing and annoying. regis remarks about the vampires’ “home” wistfully multiple times throughout blood & wine, AS IF he actually saw it at one point. our boy’s like, 400 something years old (436, but who’s counting), so he was born in the 800s (bc the witcher saga and games take place in 1260 something). he’s fucking young compared to someone like the unseen elder, or even for example, AVALLAC’H, who’s older than him by like 2 centuries. the conjunction of the spheres occurred 1500 YEARS BEFORE THE SAGA & GAMES TAKE PLACE, in 200s BCE which is MORE THAN 3 TIMES REGIS’S AGE. so it makes no sense for regis to be talking about the vampires’ homeland before the conjunction because (if regis is considered middle aged by vampire standards) he’s like, 3rd or 4th-generation vampire.

i will say that orianna and blood simple was a good move because it shows how vampires’ addictions can manifest in ways other than raiding villages as youth... though i would have liked to see orianna shown as middle aged looking like regis is i’ll let that slide because i know cdpr can’t show a woman who is supposed to come off as attractive looking more than 30 years old

but the strictness of vampire society imposed in blood & wine, through the no killing vampires laws, tesham mutna’s whole hierarchy and structure, is inaccurate in my opinion because in the books the whole THING about the vampires is that while they’re highly intelligent and emotional, they don’t really form social structure beyond drinking parties, which i think was both a nice step away from classic “stuffy manor vampire” types and something unique for the witcher universe...

my biggest issue, though, is with dettlaff and his characterization throughout blood & wine, or should i say, lack of consistent characterization. half of the “good things” dettlaff does isn’t even shown (i.e., resurrecting regis) and is rather explained through word, so the effect on the player isn’t as big. his actual caring and protectiveness of rhenawedd/syanna is overshadowed by syanna’s huge arc about her own backstory so there’s like, NO empathy built up for dettlaff. you actually get to talk to syanna about her opinions and takes, but as for dettlaff you’re relying on regis’s secondhand guessing about his brother’s emotions. regis is also somewhat of an unreliable narrator because it’s not like he can predict everything that will happen... as much as it seems it, sometimes

but the whole point of the books dealing with vampires (and more specifically, regis) was to show that sometimes monsters are more reliable and morally upright than humans. im not saying every vampire in the witcher series should be shown as a paragon of morality, because that’s definitely not the case. but i think for a player who has just met regis, just learned about the vampires in the witcher universe, they need more context and more depictions of Good Vampires, or at least, Vampires That Employ Logic, in order to accept that vampires are NOT some savage beasts like anna and damien argue.

it also doesn’t help with... how regis is depicted. regis is always shown in his humanoid form when he’s proper and kind and geralt is friendly with him, and when he’s in a more bestial form during la cage au fou and tesham mutna, he’s shown as like, a danger [[to geralt]], which is such a slap in the face when you consider how regis and geralt fought side by side at stygga. to even think that regis is somehow untrustworthy tbh literally goes against everything in the books -- in the saga, regis is depicted as yes, a very powerful being, but one that has deep intelligence, emotions, and alliances to geralt and the hansa... when he uses his powers and fights in the saga, it was not only rare, but only ever for Good, to save ciri and yennefer. and he was completely in control of himself and his powers... even when drunk at stygga. not to mention regis was even a self-described ‘coward’ and felt it necessary to avoid battle and conflict because he disliked it so. so when in blood & wine, regis fights during capture the castle like it’s nothing, that’s so alien to his character, idk how to even describe it. he just brushes it off like “looked like you needed a hand, we thought we’d stop by” instead of like, whoa. this is a big sacrifice he’s making by putting himself into this conflict, because he loathes violence. of course there’s also the issue with la cage au fou where regis is shown as Bestially Untrustworthy because he Can’t Control His Powers but those issues have already been discussed.........

also it’s tiring how it’s lazily attempted to explain that vampires aren’t just horrific thirsty beasts of the night and then toussaint is sacked by vampires like a week later. the showing was more impactful than the telling here

back to dettlaff’s inconsistent characterization, it’s annoying how he doesn’t get a chance to explain his thoughts and worries and grievances like syanna does, but also it’s annoying how he’s shown as such a caring person for those he loves (asking syanna if shes okay, feeling guilty that he couldnt rescue her sooner, regretting not being there for her...) but then when he’s betrayed he immediately goes to “sack the city until i can murder this bitch” which is like...... okay, i get it, scorpio vibes, but it doesn’t really make sense without some kind of dialogue between dettlaff and geralt. the player would have to stop and really mull this logic over (it does make sense, but you have to think about it... dettlaff would want to murder syanna because she had him murder those close to him anyways, and dettlaff didn’t know (and never finds out, actually) that the knights were bad people deserving of death anyways). i feel like if dettlaff knew the reality about the knights, then he wouldn’t want to murder syanna....... he would be mad that she didnt communicate with him in the first place, but at least he wouldnt be assuming that he murdered innocents. from dettlaff’s perspective, syanna is a killer who killed some of his best friends, but as the player, we never get to even interact with him or his feelings about the subject. instead we’re faced with an unnecessary dichotomy between the two of them which ends in tears and bloodshed either way, and it’s unsatisfying.

so anyway, i was thinking about a particular scene in my Guardians' canon, where after the WQ campaign (seasons dni) Feros just lingers around Venus, waiting for Schala to come out from the Vault of Glass where she's been for the past 2 expansions

to them, being in the Vault was probably like vacation, an opportunity to wreck havoc and poke around and maybe ease the way for Praedyth and his scientists to leave

and then she comes out, casual as one would please and all the tearful reunions are rather banal for them, but at the same time they haven't seen each other since the Darkness ate Io with Feros on it

and they talk on the way to the Tower (well, Feros does, Schala is an elective mute) it's... such a heavy topic, Why do you go on?

I dont know how to describe this in sufficient words, in my mind they make sense, but in the Dark, before getting spat out on Europa in time for BL, Feros found peace, when he was always on edge

he was always the one of the team to 'survive', to fight and fight and still lose even when humanity survived and he'd become very protective but always running from making real connections because of survivor's guilt

while Schala is the oddball who never felt out of place with where she is in the world, even when nobody else knew, because she comprehension of time is cyclical, what was is and will be are more or less the same to them, they knew who Feros and Ikora and Drifter and everyone else would be to her before they'd heard of her

it's funny watch her first interactions with people how hadn't met her yet, an exercise in futility, she already knew who they are and how they'd end up as a relationship

but she asks Feros how he goes on, when all she ever knows is how it all is and will be, because she's where is she is and where she will be simply because she already knows

and she knows she wouldn't leave humanity or her people until the end of time simply because that's how she is

Feros is different, and he needed time to learn to love humanity and it's been so many years since he was shipped off venus in the middle of the ahamkara war, risen right in the middle of it

and he lost more than he gained before he learnt to love the reasons he was fighting for, he hated the possible fall of humanity before he loved its survival

the Dark was a quiet he hadn't had since he woke, with an ahamkara's maw about to eat him, it brought him peace for his loss and the possibility of defeat, and it was all it could do, and the reason why he was tossed on Europe unceremoniously before Variks got gutted

This is an old but interesting article I stumbled upon today. Firstly I want to say this is not on the character but the writers. Secondly, I’m writing on show point of view.

We cannot deny that Dany’s arc has always had white supremacist sub plot since the beginning. It however intensifies as her journey goes on. The most horrific part of this all is her burning down the Dosh Khaleen and being glorified for it. “Dothrakis follow power” we are told. That’s It? That’s all the characterization they are going to get. They are just savages who have nothing better to do than help a white girl get the crown from which her family was overthrown. (PS- its not like her family were some honourable and competent leaders who got betrayed). Its protrayed as if its the biggest achievement they will ever make. Then as they join her mission to get the throne, women and children suddenly disappear because plot convenience. “Winter is coming” um yeah while others are flaunting their furs Dothrakis are still wearing scraps. As the show starts we see Dothraki culture via a white girl’s eye. They are portrayed as some uncultured swines that revel in killing, raiding and raping. Even their weddings are portrayed as some sort of giant murder and rape fest. But then the show uses those same uncultured people to glorify the white girl and help in her quest. So you will shit on their culture but have no problem using them to get the white girl’s quest?

As for the slavers bay, after it being destroyed both socio econominally and physically by the white girl the army of Unsullied join in her quest to get the throne. “She is the queen we chose” we hear Missandei justifying. Um yes, but did you have a choice? It was “either stay here to rot” or “join in her quest for the crown” And that’s all the characterization we are going to get about them too. It wasn’t wrong of her to free the slaves and crucify the masters. What was wrong is the writers blatantly using a white girl to free them and then again use them for her personal gain.

Dont tell me it is not for her personal gain. Basically what do both Dothrakis and Unsullied get out of fighting for a self proclaimed queen? We never see the representatives of both troopes in her any decision making process. They could at least participate in military decisions. Instead we have Tyrion who is no military diplomat advising plans of attack. Hypothetically assuming she gets the throne, will we see these people who have helped her to power get a raise? Will we see those people in council meetings? Will we hear what they have to say when the new system is formed? We all know the answer is no.

On the contrary looking at Jon Snow’s council, we have Wildlings who were once portrayed as the uncultured people. They fought for him and his quest to get back his home. They get a say in decision making process, they get to sit in council meetings, they finally get a safe place to stay and eat. We see Jon bonding with them & them being shown as the misunderstood people born on the wrong side of the wall. But Dothrakis are just Dothrakis and Unsullied are just Unsullied. The only poc interacting with Dany is Missandei, who is there to announce her long ass title and tell about her romantic escapades with Grey Worm. Don’t tell me it’s not blatantly problematic. White saviour trope should never be GLORIFIED. LET THE TROPE DIE FOR GOOD!!!

My problems with the boatbang pair

Edit,after re reading this,its mostly anti Danielle,but it still fits to why the couple wouldnt work out even if it did happen. -The cave scene in episode 4 was basically Danielle telling Jon that she wont save the world unless she gets to rule it afterward. -Even if the boatbang happens,its probably gonna happen before Jon learns of his Targeryan roots.Do you really think that Jon will stay with Dany after that? He has spent his entire life believeing that he is a bastard of Eddard Stark,therefore his acceptance of direct incest would be very VERY unlikely. -Dany has been already showing small signs of paranoia in ep4 of s7,when she accused Tyrion of wanting to not hurt the Lannisters after he failed to predict 2 unpredictable things.Tyrion had no way of knowing that Euron would wreck Targ.Fleet and if my memory serves me correct,he wasnt informed of the Lannister goldmines being dry. -Dany is hypocritical during the first meeting between her and Jon. She asked Jon to forgive her for her fathers sins,yet she blames Jon for Robert Baratheons assassins,simply because Robert was Neds best friend. -Dany isnt a good leader.she inspires people,sure,but every place she has conquered before had returned to shambles quickly. In slavers bay,the cities she liberated before meereen all fell back to the slavers because she didnt establish any new government.if she ends up taking the throne she'd probably start searching for even newer lands to conquer. -Jon explained Danys story perfectly at the end of their first conversation,where he loudly said that he doesnt know her and her entire claim to the throne rests on her father formerly being king,when Jons "father" fought to overthrow him. -most of Danys godknowshowmany titles are titles shes given herself.Sure,some of the titles are accurate,but it comes off as if she needs to show off with all these fancy titles being named off by someone else. -Dany from the westerosi peoples point of view,is a foreign invader.She brought 100 thousand raiding savages with her for gods sake. -she goes on and on about how shes the rightful queen of westeros.as Tywin Finished-two-wars-that-were-destroying-westeros Lannister said to Joffry "any man who must say hes the king,is no true king".statements accurate for Dany aswell. -episode 5 "bend the knee or die" the illusion of choice,nuff said -strategic failure in episode 4.when the Scorpions first dart missed,she refused to retreat and let her khalasar take care of it,instead she kept attacking and got Drogon hurt.Also,she couldve just used drogon and attacked from the vanguard to rast the entire army in one gqo,no dothraki screamers needed.She couldve saved dozens of her dothrakis riders by attacking from the side. Most of her former supporters who are now either dead or captured didnt support her because she was a targeryan.they supported her because they hated the lannisters.Yara wanted Euron dead,Daenerys was the best bet for that. Olenna Tyrell lost her entire family because of cersei,Obara Sand and the sand snakes lost Oberyn to The Mountain,The champion of house Lannister -Danys outright refusal to believe in white walkers.She has 3 dragons,creatures which were extinct for a century.At that point nothing should be unbelievable to her. -Daenerys doesnt even know the histroy of the country she wants to rule. Last king in the north being Robb stark not Torren Stark,and what she called centuries of peace when a targeryan was on the iron throne were actually centuries that had 11 wars the effected the entire continent. -Biggest point,Her powerlust.She is as hungry for the iron throne as the mad king was horny for fire and she cant even understand why someone who has never met her before wont kneel and declare her his queen the minute they meet. -main reason why Jon and Dany wont work out as a couple,even if the boatbang happens is because theyre complete opposites.Dany can never get enough power and Jon doesnt want any power.Dany is so full of pride that she has a list of titles(most of which dont even matter anymore) narrated by one of her servants. I dont even believe the boatbang will happen just cuz of how little chemistry has been between them.Jon and Sansa had more chemistry in the forehead kiss scene than the boatbang pair had through every episode theyve been in together.if boatbang happens,it will be of lust,not love.
