The Mentor You Should Have Had – Kathryn Janeway/Raffi Musiker

A/N: Day 30 of the Trek prompts from @trektober-challenge

Raffi Musiker had always admitted she thought of Jean-Luc Picard as her mentor, and in many ways he had been… but when she met Kathryn Janeway she had known that, despite her love for him, she had been unlucky with her mentor. Kathryn was all the things she should be, all the things a mentor should be and Raffi has to walk away to stop herself saying as much to Jean-Luc’s face. She’s at the bar, of course, when Kathryn settles into the seat beside her, ordering a simple coffee. Raffi, who has been drinking soda water and trying to control the urge to order something else, something stronger, finds herself surprised when Kathryn leans closer. “So, Raffaela Musiker… tell me, is Jean-Luc as pompous on the bridge as he is when he’s at these events?” “Worse, actually.” Raffi admits, smiling just slightly when Kathryn rewards her with a laugh. “Call me Raffi.” “Raffi…” Silence, Kathryn seems to be considering something then Kathryn’s hand closes over hers and she smiles again, honestly this time. “Tell me, Raffi, is there someone waiting at home?” “No ma’am.” “Shame�� perhaps you’d like to… walk me home instead?” “It would be my honor.”

I love how Prodigy (didn't) handle the Seven/Chakotay relationship to the point where if someone asked him about her, he'd probably say "who?"

listen Chakotay/Seven is bad for many reasons but it really doesn't bother me as much as it should because it's so poorly written that it just ends up feeling like both Chakotay and Seven were in love with Janeway and realized it would never work out so they just shrugged and starting dating each other. (i'm not even that much of a shipper either but like. the subtext is there for both JC and J7.) you cannot convince me that they didn't mutually break up before they even landed on Earth and then they never talked about it again.

and to add to the comedy, both Janeway and Seven know that if Voyager didn't get home then Seven and Chakotay would have gotten married and both died, etc etc while Chakotay, if i recall, just Never Learns This. Chakotay goes about the rest of his life thinking "oh yeah i went on a few dates with Seven but it never went anywhere" and then Seven and Janeway are just haunted by this alternate timeline. peak comedy tbh.

Look! I did it! All of them! Yeah, there are a lot of drabbles in there, but there are four or five that push 1000 words. A lot of fluff, some is more sickfic adjacent than full-blown sickfic but it was a good time and now there is abundant reading. No idea what's happening? Best start at the very beginning then, it will make a lot more sense as I endeavour to try and tie together all those pesky loose ends and chauvinistic misogynistic sexist any-other-ist from the many available interesting plot points and canon/character blindspots left by Voyager, Picard and Prodigy.

I love watching the scene where Raffi dresses up Rios and Picard, because all the while Seven is just in the background having serious flashbacks to all the weird shenanigans the Voyager crew got up to in the Holodeck.

A Fresh Start - Raffi Musiker/Kathryn Janeway

A/N: Day 28 of Trek Prompts from @trektober-challenge

Raffi Musiker’s life seems to fall apart after the Romulus situation… and then she’s reassigned. She’s reassigned to work under Kathryn Janeway. She knows, she does, that she should be careful this time, but she’s never really done so hot with managing herself and her temper when she’s struggling. What she doesn’t expect is for Kathryn to care. Kathryn seeks her out after she excuses herself from the bridge mid-shift. She’s sunk down the wall outside her room, the ship seeming to spin. Kathryn settles beside her, silent for a while before moving to wrap a cautious arm around her. “How bad is it spinning?” “About… 50…” “Out of?” “50.” Janeway nods then, standing and pulling Raffi to her feet to take her into her quarters, helping her clean herself up and settle into bed, tucking her in carefully before contacting her third in command. Raffi would rest and she would make sure she was well… what nobody would know is that Kathryn would wrap herself around Raffi as she slept, letting her have the closeness she sorely needed.

So I just finished reading the autobiography of picard and I gotta say there is so much we could’ve had. Beverly becomes captain of her own ship and she and Picard are married, she’s off searching space and he’s an ambassador to Vulcan. Just think, Raffi could’ve been an upcoming Lieutenant that Beverly takes under her wing and one day Janeway asks Beverly for a favour: to take on Seven as her first officer and also Icheb. They all become a family and yes, Seven has formally adopted Icheb as her son, then Picard mentions a Romulan refugee in need of a family and that he’s far too old to have a child but maybe Seven and Raffi could take him in. The voyager family and tng family all interact at different points and everything is fine.

A question for all those who ship J/7, just because I'm a curious girl: how do you like 7/Raffi (Saffi)?

Do you like that this ship is canon? Or would you have preferred that Seven's romantic life had remained unmentioned?

Did you switch from shipping 7/J to 7/Raffi? Do you enjoy both ships? Or do you ignore the new ship?

Seven gave Raffi La Sirena. Ouch my heart.

Whereabouts are unknown…

Personal details are classified… but we’ll still bang on about her addictions. Come on people, leave her alone.

Current Starfleet status: Classified

Present whereabouts: Unknown

So I’m kind of hopeful that she is just on an undercover mission for Starfleet. Because I hate to think of Seven in Starfleet without Raffi.

It’s hard to think of Seven in Starfleet at all… I still don’t know how I feel about it.

But Captain (now Admiral) Kathryn “fight me” Janeway is still fighting for Seven.

And I love that for them!

I am so excited for Season 3!! It’s so close!!
