Should I Add a Telemetry Data Overlay?

Telemetry information such as speed, speed over time, compass direction, date, time, altitude, overall distance, and other information can be added as an overlay to videos presuming that the data was captured during the video creation. Hi
So, i watched the video of the radio between Charles and his new engineer at Imola. Safe to say i got some ideas, and was wondering if you could write something with Charles and engineer!reader? Basically something where reader is Charles’ engineer and he’s developed feelings for her, during a race ( could be Imola, or Monaco as thats this weekend) she talks to him like Bryan does and he realizes he has a praise kink. Could lead to smut if you’re comfortable with that. Thank you in advance.
Thank you for this request, I did my best to develop it as much as possible, I hope you like it!! <3<3
Strategies and praises | cl16 (+18)
Summary: you like to praise your driver, but you have no idea how much good it does him. Warning: fluff and some light smut.
a/n: CHARLES WON IN MONACO OH MY GOD, I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! HE REALLY DID IT, I'M SO SO PROUD OF HIM!!! (not to jinx him I wrote this between Friday and Saturday so you won't have exactly the positions like in the race)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Monaco Grand Prix is in full swing, everyone is excited and ecstatic as they want to know how the local driver, Charles, will do. You, as his race engineer, are under a bit of pressure, as well as him, but it's nothing you can't control. For you it is a race of mere strategy and that's it, since many overtakings do not usually occur, and that is why you and Charles spend a lot of time studying the different strategies that may happen in the race.
“If we get one last run with the mediums in quali, we can achieve pole position.” He says and you nod.
“That's right, it's just a matter of the track staying the same throughout qualifying and, in case you already have provisional pole and a red flag or something happens, you're already insured there.” you say as you finish reviewing some telemetry data.
Suddenly he lets out a sigh and runs his hands through his hair, ruffling it a little. You know he is stressed and overwhelmed by this weekend, it's not that he doesn't like it, on the contrary, it's the constant pressure to have a good race at home.
“But... But what if I qualify further back? I don't know, that will change the whole strategy, right?” He asks in a whisper, you nod.
“Ehm... That might change the strategy a little bit, of course, but it's nothing we can't recover with a couple of undercuts or overcuts...” you say to finally close your laptop.
You look at Charles and notice how your words calmed him down a bit, you have been his engineer since he arrived at Ferrari in 2019 and you have been known for giving him some praises every so often in the race. And a couple of times you have been criticized for some questionable decisions in the race, but he was in charge of clearing your name with pride those times, which you are very grateful to him since he always believes in you and you in him.
-
It's already race day and you find yourself with a lot of nerves, the day before Charles had qualified P3 and, although it was not what we expected, there was a certain tension and hope on the pit wall. The roar of the crowd fills Charles helmet as he navigates the tight corners of Monaco. You, his engineer, his voice of reason in the chaos, cut through the static.
“Charles, that was a phenomenal lap! You took the Rascasse beautifully, just keep pushing, we can still make a good climb!” you say on the radio. “Just try to make it clean, okay? You're doing a very good job.”
A small smile tugs at Charles' lips under the helmet... He wasn't just pushing or fighting for the podium anymore, he was pushing to hear your voice, to impress you, to make you feel proud of him.
You watch the telemetry with a focused intensity, a satisfied smile playing on your lips.
“Perfect line through Beau Rivage, Charles. You're a monster machine! Let's catch them boy! I know you can do it!” you said watching his lap, he had made a couple of overcuts.
The compliment hangs heavy in the air between you and Charles, a blush creeps up his neck even though you can't see it. He pushes even harder, the car straining under his command.
Charles crosses the finish line, a hard-fought P3. He lets out a guttural yell of exhilaration, the adrenaline coursing through him. Maybe it's not a home win as he wished, but it's a podium and it's something at least.
“Great job, team! That was incredible. Y/n, you were brilliant on the strategy, thank you so much!” you heard his voice over the radio communication and you smiled.
“It was nothing Charles, now let's celebrate! You deserve it more than anyone!” you also say through the radio. “You did an absolutely amazing drive, Charles. You were phenomenal out there. We should celebrate after the podium ceremony!” you say and you let out a little giggle.
A shiver runs down Charles' spine... It wasn't just the post-race adrenaline, it was the way you said it, the subtle soft praise laced with something more, and that sweet and soft giggle of yours. All your colleagues on the pit wall hug you and congratulate you for such a spectacular strategy, Fred also congratulates you with a loving hug. You release a breath you didn't realize you were holding. Relief and pride wash over you, how proud you are to work with someone like Charles is priceless, he is someone who always strives to achieve his own.
-
At the end of the podium and the interviews, the paddock was practically deserted, you found yourself putting some things in your briefcase when you hear Charles calling you to meet you in his driver's room.
The room is a mess of post-race adrenaline, empty water bottles litter the table, fireproof gloves are tossed on a chair, and Charles himself is sprawled on the sofa, he's still in his race suit, sweat clinging to his toned chest through the fireproofs. He looks exhausted but exhilarated and handsome to your eyes. You knock on the door.
“Come in!” You hear him say and you enter the room, a shy and tired smile adorns your face.
“Hey, you wanted to see me champ?” you asked softly.
Charles beckons you in, a shy smile playing on his lips. He pats the space beside him on the sofa.
“Yeah, come sit, please. There's a few things we need to go over, but...” He trails off, his gaze lingering on you a beat too long. You raise an eyebrow, amusement tugging at your lips.
“But what?”
“You did amazing today, you know that? We pulled off a miracle out there, keeping the position.” he smiled shyly.
You smiled lovingly at him. “We did, didn't we? Thanks for trusting my calls. You were a rocket ship on that track, Charles.”
His gaze lingers on you a beat too long. You brush a stray strand of hair from your face, feeling a warmth spread through you.
“Always. You're the best engineer I've ever had. Not just because of the numbers, but...” his voice became a little low, he hesitate a bit, then leans in, his voice barely a whisper. “Because you believe in me... Even when I don't believe in myself, even when everyone doubts about my abilities or myself in general.”
Your heart skips a beat, you reach out, your fingers softly grazing his cheek. The touch seems to spark something in him, he leans into your hand, his eyes searching yours.
You blushed a little. “Hey, I'll always believe in you, Charles! You're incredible. You know that, right?”
His eyes hold yours, a new intensity there. He cups your face, his thumb brushing across your lips.
“There's something else I want you to know... Something I've realized lately.” he says with a husky voice.
He trails off, his gaze dropping to your lips, you feel a shiver run down your spine, he leans in slowly, and you meet him halfway. The kiss is electric, fueled by unspoken emotions and the adrenaline of the race. His hands explore your back gently, sending shivers down your spine.
“Your voice...” he kiss you again. “on the radio...” he give you another kiss. “it does things to me...” he said between kisses.
A laugh escapes your lips, breathless. “Like what, Charles?” you ask him teasingly.
He kisses your jaw, his voice a low rumble. “Like... it makes me want to drive faster, makes me want to win, to archive even more podiums... Especially when you...” He hesitates, then whispers in your ear. “Especially when you tell me I'm doing good, when you tell me that I can do it.” he said huskily.
A blush creeps up your neck. You realize what he's saying, a heat pooling in your core.
“So... you like a little praise, huh?” you whisper too.
He kisses your neck, his touch sending shivers down your spine. “More than you know, mon ange, especially if it comes from you.”
The air crackles with unspoken desire. You let out a soft gasp as Charles undoes the buttons of your t-shirt, his touch lingering on the fabric. You reach up and cup his face, pulling him close for another kiss. This time, it's deeper, filled with a new urgency. His hands slide down your back, sending a fire down your spine.
“Then tell me, Charles. What do you want to hear?” you said breathlessly.
He pulls back slightly, his eyes blazing. “Tell me you're proud of me, tell me I drove flawlessly. Tell me you knew I could do it... Please.” he says in a whisper, practically begging you.
You run your hand through his hair, a slow smile spreading across your face. “I am so incredibly proud of you, Charles. You were phenomenal out there, you took that car to its limits and never gave up. You're a phenomenal driver, the best on the grid.”
His eyes lock on yours, the praise filling him with a surge of heat that goes beyond the race. He leans in again, his voice a husky whisper.
“More, keep going amour. Tell me you knew I could keep that podium, even when I doubted myself.”
You trace the outline of his jaw with your thumb, your voice dropping to a low purr. “I always knew you could keep that podium, Charles. You have this incredible talent, this fire inside you. You were born to be a champion!”
His breath hitches, and he pulls you close, his touch sending shivers down your spine. His hands explore your body, finding the small of your back, urging you closer.
“Don't stop please. You make me want to push myself even further, make me want to win every single race left, just to hear you say that again.” says with a ragged voice.
The praise fuels your own desire. You pull back slightly, your gaze flickering over his race suit, you smile.
“Then let's celebrate your podium properly, shall we? Show me just how good you are at taking some orders.” you say with a husky voice, and a triumphant grin splits his face.
-
The air hums with a different kind of electricity now. Charles's eyes darken, the praise turning him on far more than he expected. He leans in, his voice a low rumble.
“You don't just believe in my driving, do you baby?”
His hand dips under your shirt, brushing softly against your skin. You gasp, a shiver running through you.
“No, Charles. I believe in you... All of you. Your talent, your strength, your incredible heart. You're the most determined, passionate person I know! And seeing you out there, pushing yourself, it does something to me too...”
His touch ignites a fire within you, mirroring the one he feels. You trace a line down his chest, feeling the heat radiating through his damp race suit.
“What does it do, bellissima?” he says with a husky voice.
You lean in close, your lips brushing his ear. “It makes me want to celebrate with you in a very different way.” you whispered in his ear.
He pulls back slightly, his eyes searching yours. A slow smile spreads across his face, a mix of satisfaction and desire.
“Tell me then, how do you want to celebrate?” he asks.
You run your hand down his arm, sending a spark through both of you. “Let me show you how proud I am of the man you are, not just the driver. How much I admire your strength, your focus, everything that makes you so incredible.”
His breath hitches, and he pulls you close again. This kiss is different, slower, filled with a deeper meaning. His touch explores your body, finding the places that make you shiver, places no one had ever discovered before.
“Then show me, bellissima. Show me everything you've been holding back.” he said with a rough voice.
You pull back slightly, your eyes locked on his. “But first, tell me one more thing. Did you ever think your engineer might be a little turned on by seeing you dominate the track?” you say shyly.
His laugh is a low rumble, filled with pure, unadulterated desire.
“Not until now, but believe me, gorgeous, the feeling is most definitely mutual.”
He finally pulls your shirt up all the way, his touch sending a jolt of electricity through you. As he slowly undresses you, his eyes never leave yours, a mixture of gratitude and raw desire burning bright. The celebration takes a turn neither of you expected, fueled by the adrenaline of the race, the praise that goes beyond the track, and the deep connection that has been simmering beneath the surface all along.
His eyes scanned your body at a slow place, he was drinking you in just by looking. His lips met yours in a gentle touch and your back met the couch as he hovered over you. Looking into his eyes you kissed him again, biting his lip which elicited a groan from him and a smile from you.
“Oh god amore, are you sure you want this?” He asked. “We can’t go back after you say yes.” he added in a low voice that send shivers down your spine.
“Yes, I’m sure Charles.” you replied bringing his lips down to yours. Detaching his lips from yours he kissed down your body, your skin crawls when you feel his warm lips on your body, slowly kissing every curve and dip that adorns your silhouette, leaving a burning path on your skin, you let out a sigh. “God, you're so good to me Cha...” You whisper between a light sigh, your words made him let out a light growl, he felt his body react to your praise.
“Oh mon amour, je te ferai te sentir si bien... I will make myself worthy of your praise...” He says in a low and sensual voice, the mixture of French and English makes your head go crazy. (Oh my love, I'll make you feel so good...)
His lips continue their journey down your chest, taking the time to kiss your breasts gently, as if they were the most precious thing in the world, then he went down to your abdomen where he left loose kisses in the area, making you release one or another soft sigh. He continued down until he reached your core, he smiled at the sight of you completely naked, he softly kissed the inside of your thighs and your heart started beating super fast.
He started to leave sloppy kisses until he reached your folds, he began to leave sloppy kisses and licks on your wet folds, you raised your hips a little to give him easy access to that area, and he began to devour you slowly, he was taking his time to taste you. Your soft moans didn't take long, he slowly sucked on your clit, making you let out a loud moan that probably rang throughout the deserted paddock, but that's the least of it now.
“Keep doing that Charlie...” you say with heavy breathing and that gave him the impetus to continue savoring you with such passion, you hold on to his soft, silky hair. “God, you're such a... You're such a good boy.” you moan slightly.
Your words lit the fire in him a little bit more and he continued tasting you completely in his mouth, you were like a blessing in his life, like something he had wanted to try for a long time. You felt your walls tighten and a strong wave of pleasure washed over you, you felt like you were going to faint right there.
“Cha... Charlie... I'm... I'm close.” you whispered as you whimpered in pleasure, he stopped his ministrations on your core and looked up at you, god he looked so damn hot, his cheeks flushed, his face sweaty from the strenuous work he was doing down there.
He smiled and took off his boxers, revealing his erect cock, he brought his lips to yours and kissed you softly and sweetly, it was as if he didn't want to let this moment between you go. “If... If you don't feel comfortable or something, just tell me and I'll stop instantly, okay darling?” He said in a hushed whisper looking deeply at your eyes.
You looked and him and smiled shyly. “Charlie, I... I want this the same way you want it, okay? I want you to continue.” you whispered and he nodded. “Just do it, okay honey?”
He aligned himself with your entrance and gently entered you, giving you time to adapt to his big size, your breathing became erratic, he began to move slowly and a little loosely at the same time. He wanted to satisfy you, to please you, make you feel like you are the one who have the power in this precise moment... His hands ran over your body, just as they did at the beginning, until they reached your hips and he placed them there, his thumbs made circles in that area, he began to thrust into you with a little more rhythm. He began to breathe heavily, his hot breath coming into contact with your neck and that gave you chills down your spine, his movements were meticulously perfect, he took the moment to appreciate you and enjoy this.
You felt your walls tightening around him, making the two of you let out moans at the same time, to you, he looked like a Greek god at that moment, sweat taking over his toned torso, his darkened and dilated pupils watching you as if you were a goddess or some kind of miraculous apparition in his life.
“Mhm, bébé, I'm... I'm gonna cum.” he whispered against your neck, his agitated and husky voice a delight to your ears. “God, you feel so good around me chérie.” He murmured as he kissed the skin of your neck, making you sigh again and again.
You moaned as you felt the pleasure wash over you. “Such a good boy my precious Charlie.” you said with a husky voice. “I'm close too, handsome.” you whimpered and you closed your eyes.
The climax reached you two making you tremble with pleasure, your legs trembled and you felt how your breathing stopped being erratic. He rested his forehead against yours and kissed every little part of your face, while you just smiled, the love you feel for this man is incredible, something that goes beyond a simple discussion of strategies or friendly companionship.
When you finally felt that everything in you was completely normal, you spoke. “That... That was, amazing charlie.” you whispered softly, giving him a kiss on his cheek, he smiled. “You made me feel good... I haven't felt like this in a long time.” there was no lie in your statement, it had been a long time since the last time someone had made you feel as good as Charles had.
He smiled and blushed. “It was nothing sunshine, everything for you and only you.” he kissed your cheek. “I think you deserve good things more than anyone else.” he whispered too.
After a few seconds, silence was present in the room, but it was a fairly comfortable one, your hands were intertwined with his and your thumb caressed the back of his hand, you smiled shyly at the sight, it was something that looked so cute and innocent.
He smiled again and looked at you with great affection in his eyes. “I love you, darling... Thank you for this!” He whispered sweetly and kissed your temple.
You smiled tenderly. “I love you too charlie.” you whispered too. “Don't you think we should take even a quick shower?” You say and let out a shy giggle.
He smiles and raises his eyebrows, blushing. “Oh... Of course love!”
You just smile at him again and you kiss his cheek. “And then you take me to my hotel?”
He denied and picked you up in his arms to walk to the small bathroom in his driver room, you let out a soft gasp. “Oh, no my love... We will go to my house!” He said.
You raised your eyebrows and chuckled. “But... And my things? Everything is in the hotel...” You started to say but he interrupted you, leaving several small kisses on your lips.
“Don't worry about it honey, we'll look for that before we go to my house.” he smiled. “Just worry about being pretty and smart, my honey.” you giggled at his words.
“You forgot to mention bossy.” he laughed and blushed.
“Oh sure, a little bossy, but that's how I like you.” he whispered on your lips and kissed you again.
You just smiled while you went into the shower, you felt very happy because you never thought that Charles had something for you and that at the end of the day it was something that you also wanted at some point. You admired him as a driver, that was for sure, but as a person it was a totally inexplicable thing. Today showed you that, apart from being good at taking orders, he was excellent pleasing you and showing his true emotions, you can't wait to see where this new journey might take you both.

live, laugh, pro racer!gojo :))
Tumblr media
and, wow! just look at that absolute speed demon go!
"speed dumbass seems to be a more fitting description," you remark in response to the announcer's excited narration, sending quiet snickers through the pit crew behind you. "hey, hotshot. let up a little on those hairpins or your engine's gonna overheat," you radio through to his earpiece and pray to the racing gods that he listens. as if to spite you, he accelerates more aggressively through the following turn, causing a concerning but not impactful spike in temperature.
"only reason they'll overheat is 'cause you're on the line, pretty."
"it's my job on the line if you break down, satoru."
"i'm well aware of that, sweetheart," comes his voice from the other end. you were painfully aware of the thousands of spectators watching his point of view and listening in on your conversation. "rest assured, i won't get you fired."
"that's not up to you," you remind him, clicking through the telemetry statistics and glancing at the timing screen before concluding that everything was running as it should, albeit a little bit hot from the driver's arrogance. suguru whispers something in your ear and you dutifully relay it to the idiot behind the wheel. "you can lay off a bit on the straightaways; you have enough wiggle room to give the car a breather."
"but what if i don't wanna?" you breathe deeply through your nose, clenching and unclenching your fists in suppressed irritation. the pit crew keeps laughing behind you and you give them a look that says can you believe this guy? "pssht, houston, do you copy? what's with the radio silence?"
a risky but flawless turn by gojo satoru, who's been in the lead since the start of the race!
"watch your wheels, satoru. keep pulling turns like that and you'll have to come get 'em changed. even you can't escape balding," you mutter with a smirk on your lips and you can imagine his indignant expression. "as much as i wish it'd come faster so you look less pretty."
"you think i'm pretty?" fuck. his shit-eating grin is evident in his tone.
"yeah, pretty stupid," you retort, face burning and glancing at suguru for help. he merely smiles in amusement, returning to whatever the job of lead mechanic requires. "finish the race and get back here so i can strangle you."
"shoko's gonna have a field day dealing with that one, boss."
"says the pr nightmare that got banned from pre-race interviews," you scoff and he slams his foot on the accelerator in response. "hey, hey, easy there; don't be breaking my car."
"i'll buy you a new one," he mutters, crossing the finish line like he'd done it in his sleep. the crew and his managers let out a collective sigh of relief before cheering like they'd won the lottery. you, however, are transfixed on the voice on the way to pull into the pit. "and whatever else you want for dealing with my bullshit all the time."
"look at you being all self-aware," you tease, "this is new and i'm not sure if i like it."
"i can go back to being an asshole, if you want," he suggests and your attention flicks to the vehicle pulling in and immediately being swarmed by reporters, cameras, and the crew. you set down your headphones at the same time he pulls off his helmet, shaking his head like a dog that just took a bath. despite the crowd of microphones being shoved in front of him and the champagne being popped over his head, the only priority in his mind is you. "hi, pretty," he whispers in your ear when he finally takes you in his arms, pressing a kiss to the side of your head. "thanks for helping me win."
"i feel like i was a suggestion box whose papers were being incinerated," you argue lightheartedly. he shoots a look of warning to a reporter getting a little too close to you to be considered friendly and the man recoils in fear. "but i guess you did race pretty well."
"couldn't have done it without you," he murmurs lovingly.
"and you better not forget it."

RETRAINING MY HARRIS'S HAWK, ARAMIS (PART 3)
Today, he's flying free for the first time!
Tumblr media
The man is retrieved from his quarters and - you guessed it - his weight is noted. Training is going really well, we're ready to step it up today!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where we live, it is required by law that a free flying raptor used for falconry be equipped with a radio telemetry transmitter. I fix it to a tiny eyelet on Aramis' anklet and carry the receiver around with me. This is to help locate a bird in events such as it being swept away by strong winds or scared/chased off by something (like another raptor).
Aramis follows along tree to tree, occasionally called down to the fist. We'll be doing this in different locations over the next couple of days, testing out his response and helping him get into even better shape for hunting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Usually Aramis goes on ahead to a higher ventage point when leaving the glove, but this time he chose a low branch next to me so I indulge in the photo op. These warm autumn colours fit him well!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not bad for his first flight this season! He did seem a bit winded at the end from flying upwind a while in a larger field. We're having a bout of warmer weather following the cooler temperatures of the last two weeks, so he's offered a pan of fresh water to enjoy once we're back home.

Mic Check: Feelings Engaged
A Bono x fem! (Y/N) reader story
Tumblr media
Summary: When Bono’s radio mic goes haywire , (Y/N) offers her colleague a helping hand, leading to an unexpected moment of intimacy between the pair with the teasing comments from Lewis only adding fuel to the fire.
Warnings: None except it’s been written in my notes app
Notes: I wanted to write something for Bono for so long now , since he’s so incredibly dear to me. So now I just did- anyways I hope there aren’t any mistakes and that you enioy this little story x
—-
It’s a bustling Friday practice session at the track, and the air is filled with the familiar sounds of mechanics working, engines revving, and the steady hum of team radios crackling to life. Bono stands in the Mercedes garage, his eyes flicking over the various data streams on the monitors in front of him as Lewis sends feedback through the radio. There’s a calm professionalism to him, his headset settled snugly over his ears as he keeps his cool amidst the chaos of the session.
(Y/N), working a few stations over, is equally immersed in her role, running through telemetry data and keeping an eye on the numbers as they stream in. It’s her second full season working with the team, and although the work is often intense, the environment feels like home. Especially with Bono around. There’s something comforting about his expertise, his quiet focus—and maybe, though she’d never say it aloud, something undeniably attractive too.
Attentively watching the data presented to her , the buzzing noise of the track outside the garage slowly but surely becomes more of a background noise to (Y/N) —until she hears Bono curse softly under his breath. Looking over at the engineer, she finds him fiddling with the mic on his radio headset.
“I’m losing audio,” he mutters, mostly to himself, his fingers rapidly tapping at the small mic attached to his headset. The frustration is clear on his face. His eyebrows drawn together in a frown, as he tries to fix the issue without missing a beat in his ongoing strategy communications.
Without thinking much about it, (Y/N) walks over to the man, noticing his struggle. “Need a hand?”
Bono looks up, his brows slightly raising, surprised by her offer. “Yeah, I think the mic’s loose. Keeps cutting in and out,” he says, his voice lower than usual, the usual steady control in his tone replaced by just a hint of frustration. Stepping closer, (Y/N) notices the faint flush creeping up his neck as he tries to juggle the malfunction and his job.
“Let me take a look,” she says, voice gentle as she steps right in front of him. Bono’s eyes stay fixed on her for a moment before he gives a small nod, lowering his head slightly so she has easier access to the mic. It’s the simplest of gestures, but (Y/N)’s heart skips a beat—being this close to him, especially in the middle of the chaos of the garage, feels strangely intimate.
(Y/N)’s hands lift to adjust the mic, her fingers brushing his cheek ever so slightly, as she reattaches the microphone more securely. His skin is warm under her fingertips, and the moment she touches him, she notices the slightest inhale from Bono, though he stays incredibly still, as if he’s afraid to move.
The garage feels smaller now, the noise fading into the background as (Y/N) concentrates on the mic, trying to focus on the task but fully aware of how close she is to the race engineer. Every brush of her hand sends a spark of awareness through her body. Focusing on the task at hand she feels Bono’s eyes on her form, though he’s trying his best to keep it professional.
“Okay, try now,” (Y/N) murmurs, stepping back slightly to give him some space. Bono clears his throat, his hand reaching up to adjust the mic himself, fingers brushing where hers had just been. He’s back to business in an instant, but there’s an edge to his voice as he speaks into the mic.
“Lewis, do you copy? How’s the connection now?” Bono’s voice is steady, but the slightest tension remains in his shoulders as he waits for a response.
There’s a brief pause before Lewis’s voice crackles through the radio, loud and clear. “Yeah, I hear you loud and clear, Bono. Thought you’d left me hanging there for a minute,” Lewis teases, but before Bono can respond, Lewis’s voice returns, this time with a playful lilt. “Wait a minute… was that her fixing your mic? That surely sounded like her voice ,mate.”
Bono’s reaction is immediate—he lets out an exasperated sigh, his hand coming up to rub the back of his neck, but keeping her focus on him, (Y/N) can see the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
“Lewis, focus on your out-lap,” Bono says, his voice firm but with a warmth that betrays his usual stoicism. Slightly shaking his head, he’s trying to suppress his embarrassment, but the smile that’s breaking through is impossible to miss.
“Oh, I’m focused,” Lewis replies, his tone mischievous. “Just thought I’d ask. Should I leave you two to it, or are we going to talk about strategy?”
Glancing back at (Y/N), Bono catches her eye for a brief moment, both of them sharing an amused, slightly embarrassed look. There’s a tension between the pair, but the humor in Lewis’s words manages to cut through it, making the moment feel lighter.
Bono lets out a dry laugh, shaking his head as he taps on the mic. “Yeah, let’s focus on the strategy. We’ll debrief later, Lewis.”
The radio crackles again as Lewis’s laughter comes through. “Sure, sure. But, just saying—‘bout time you two got close. We’ve all seen it coming.”
Bono’s face flushes at that, and he quickly turns back to the monitors, his fingers tapping at the keyboard, pretending to be fully immersed in his work. (Y/N), on the other hand, feels a mixture of embarrassment and… something else, as she walks back to her station. The way Lewis spoke, as if everyone had noticed the way her and Bono seem to gravitate toward each other, leaves the woman flustered. Was it really that obvious?
“Well, uh,” Bono calls , clearing his throat again, “thanks for fixing that. Shouldn’t have trouble now.”
(Y/N) nods, her heart still pounding as she tries to shake off Lewis’s teasing. “No problem,” she says through a slightly awkward chuckle. There’s still something hanging in the air between them, something unspoken.
Bono glances over at her once more before looking away, his lips pressing together like he’s holding something back. For a second, it feels like he might say something, but before he can, the team radio crackles again.
“Bono,” Lewis calls, his voice still carrying that teasing edge, “when’s the next date? Need me to clear the schedule?”
(Y/N) can’t help but laugh softly, shaking her head as Bono rolls his eyes. “You’re impossible, Lewis,” he mutters, though his voice is lighter now, the moment of tension dissolving into something more comfortable. He presses the radio switch again, sighing dramatically. “Focus on the driving, will you?”
Lewis just laughs in response, clearly pleased with himself, and Bono, despite his best efforts to maintain his usual professionalism, can’t help but let out a soft chuckle as well.
As the practice session winds down, the garage starts to return to its usual rhythm, but the brief moment of closeness between herself and Bono lingers in the back of (Y/N)’s mind. Every now and then, she catches him glancing in her direction, and when her eyes meet his, there’s a flicker of something unspoken—a spark that neither of the two can ignore.
And though nothing more is said between the pair, there’s an undeniable shift. (Y/N) can still feel the weight of his gaze, the soft smile that tugged at his lips, and the teasing words of Lewis echoing in the back of her mind.
Maybe Lewis was right—maybe it was about time.

On second thought, I guess I’m not finished ranting, so bear with me please.
To start, for those saying Lando didn’t honor that absolutely insane and asinine ‘agreement’ from the morning debrief, maybe the team should have honored it by letting them race and see who was leading by the second stint instead of holding Lando back and not letting him fight his teammate. They didn’t even give him a chance to be ahead. They used his engineer telling him what to do and what not to do in order to keep Lando behind in the first stint. He stood up for himself in the second stint. As a racing driver he had every right to race and earn his win that his own team was trying to gift to his teammate.
Lando has shown he is the better McLaren driver. Lando was the better driver in Hungary. He wasn’t the McLaren driver that ran off track and made mistakes. He was faster than his teammate.
No he wasn’t in first place after the start, but the start doesn’t win you a race does it? He was the fastest driver, on older tires, in the second stint while being the driver in p1, a place earned through his RACING which is what they are there to do. That is what wins you a race. It was his win.
For those who only watched the race from the broadcast and didn’t listen to every radio of Lando’s and Piastri’s or watch the onboard, I encourage you to do so. Also have a look at the telemetry data. After the start Lando had preserved his tires in order to fend off Max, allowing Piastri, who had a great start no doubt, to have a gap. It was downhill from there for Lando, but because of the team’s actions.
He was held back the entire race by the team. Every time he closed the gap to Piastri, the team told him to manage tires, or cover the driver behind him. They were completely wishy washy with him and gave him mixed signals, on purpose.
McLaren sacrificed Lando’s race from the get go. They didn’t want Lando to overtake Piastri because they know Piastri isn’t consistent with his tire management and race pace compared to Lando. He would have been eaten up by Max if Lando passed him. It’s happened in the past.
They did not pit him the second time to undercut Piastri, they made it clear on his radio that he was not to push or fly on his out lap. They had no reason to give that order, no right to hold him back for the sake of his teammate when Lando has crucial points to gain. Lando was the faster driver and he is the one in a championship battle.
When an engineer has to tell a driver “He can’t catch you, you’ve made your point”, and still they ask him to give up his earned 1st place, that is embarrassing.
On that note, I find it disappointing when a driver accepts a win he didn’t earn. The second Piastri couldn’t catch Lando, on fresher tires, and admitted it on his radio that he could not catch Lando, it’s over. He did not have what it took to beat Lando. Period. It should have been over and done with. There is no integrity in a team or driver that will rob a win from another.
It’s embarrassing that they had to give Piastri a win by bullying Lando into giving it to him. By threatening him on the radio that he needs them and his teammate to win a championship. Clearly insinuating what would happen if he didn’t give up his p1.
Not one person stood up for him in that team yesterday. Not his engineer, not his strategist, no one. It’s shameful when a team does this to a driver. Shameful and Embarrassing.

is this real?
Tumblr media
Nope, whoever this person is, they are way off and they have no sources so don’t believe a word they say
In fact Mercedes don’t make their own fuel pumps, let alone McLaren’s. No team has made their own fuel pumps since 2021.
Fuel pumps are categorised as a Standard Supply Component which means that they are designed and manufactured by a third party designated by the FIA.
Tumblr media
This means that the same company makes all of the fuel pumps for all of the teams on the grid, so if there was anything going on with a fuel pump they would be going back to this third party not Mercedes.
Just because someone has a blue tick, doesn’t mean that they know what they are saying.

SYMPATHY IS A KNIFE (vii)
pairing: Yuki Tsunoda x Fem! Driver! Reader
word count: 3715
part 7. WHAT THE FUCK IS A KILOMETER RAAAAAAAAHHHH🗣️🦅‼️🇺🇸 we are now in austin baby (and the rest of the americas triple header), anyways more painfully slow progression for these two
part i part ii part iii part iv part v part vi
The weight of expectations felt different now. YN noticed it in the way young girls' eyes followed her through the paddock, in the trembling voices asking for autographs, in the handmade signs declaring "Future F1 Driver" held by tiny hands. The Singapore podium hadn't just been her victory – it had opened a door of possibility for countless others who saw themselves in her.
During the VCARB fan zone event, a mother approached with her two daughters, both wearing miniature versions of YN's race suit. "They haven't missed a single practice session since you joined F1," the mother explained, her voice thick with emotion. "My youngest even asked to change schools so she could go karting more often."
The responsibility of it all hit YN harder than any g-force she'd experienced on track. These weren't just fans anymore – they were dreams in human form, hope wearing replica helmets and carrying notebooks filled with racing lines sketched in crayon.
Yuki found her later, sitting alone in the engineering room, staring at telemetry data without really seeing it. He didn't say anything at first, just placed a familiar convenience store energy drink on the desk – the same brand they'd shared during their junior racing days.
"Remember what you told me in F3?" he asked, pulling up a chair beside her. "After that massive shunt at Silverstone?"
"That failure only sticks if you let it define you," YN recited, the memory bringing a slight smile to her face.
"Exactly." His shoulder brushed against hers as he reached for the laptop, pulling up their comparative sector times. "So stop letting them define you by one podium. You're here because you're fast, not because you're making history."
The VCARB social media team captured them the next day, filming a segment where they had to teach each other their pre-race rituals. YN tried not to laugh as Yuki attempted to replicate her precise steering wheel adjustment sequence, his fingers fumbling over the buttons.
"How do you remember all of these?" he groaned, accidentally activating the radio instead of the brake bias adjustment.
"The same way you remember your weird lucky sock routine," she teased, earning a playful glare.
"They're not weird, they're traditional!"
The camera caught their natural banter, the way they moved in sync without thinking, years of friendship evident in every interaction. Comments flooded in almost immediately: "The chemistry between these two! 🔥" "Name a better duo, I'll wait 😍" "From F3 to F1, what a journey!"
But it was the other comments that kept YN up at night, scrolling through her phone in her hotel room: "My daughter started karting because of you" "Thank you for showing girls they belong in motorsport" "You're changing the sport forever."
The pressure crystallized during the pre-race press conference. A journalist asked about her influence on young female fans, and YN felt every camera focus on her face.
"I race because I love it," she began carefully, feeling Yuki's supportive presence beside her. "If that inspires others to chase their dreams, then that's wonderful. But I'm not here to be a symbol – I'm here to be fast."
Later, as they walked back to the garage, Yuki caught her arm. "You know what makes you a good role model?" he asked, his dark eyes serious. "You never forgot why you started racing in the first place."
The Texas sun beat down on the Circuit of the Americas as YN adjusted her helmet, preparing for final practice. Through the visor, she could see a cluster of young girls pressed against the fence, wearing her team colors. One held a sign that read: "Future World Champion."
The sight would have paralyzed her with pressure a week ago. But now, as she caught Yuki's encouraging nod from across the garage, she felt something else. Those girls weren't just looking up to her – they were looking forward, to their own futures in the sport. She wasn't just carrying their dreams; she was showing them how to chase their own.
As she pulled out of the garage, the roar of the engine drowning out everything else, YN smiled. The weight of being a role model would always be there, but so would the pure joy of racing, the thrill of pushing limits, and the quiet understanding in Yuki's eyes when she needed reminding of who she was beyond the headlines.
In the end, that's what would inspire those young dreamers more than any podium – the truth that she was, first and always, a racer who happened to be making history, not the other way around. And if her heart still fluttered when Yuki grinned at her through the garage window, well, that was just another kind of racing altogether.
Tumblr media
The Austin qualifying session played out like a well-choreographed dance, both VCARB cars sliding through to Q3 with methodical precision. YN could feel the electricity in the air as she pulled her car into parc fermé, the satisfaction of another strong qualifying evident in the smiles beneath both their helmets.
"Not bad for someone who needed five takes to lasso a hay bale," she teased Yuki as they walked to the media pen, their race suits damp with Texas sweat.
"Says the one who claimed to have Texas racing in her blood," he shot back, but his eyes crinkled with that smile she'd grown so familiar with over the years. The one that made her forget about the cameras following their every move.
Race day dawned clear and crisp, the kind of autumn morning that made COTA's sweeping turns look even more inviting. During the drivers' parade, YN noticed how Yuki kept glancing her way, checking her pre-race mood as he'd done since their Formula 3 days. Some habits never changed, even under the bright lights of Formula 1.
The race itself was a masterclass in teamwork. Twenty laps in, running P5 and P6, their engineers' voices crackled over the radio with synchronized strategy calls. YN couldn't help but smile inside her helmet as she and Yuki executed their pit stops within a lap of each other, their years of shared experience showing in every synchronized movement.
"Box, box, box this lap," her engineer called.
"Copy," she responded, already knowing Yuki would be in the following lap. They'd discussed this scenario in the strategy meeting, finishing each other's sentences until their race engineer had joked about getting them a joint radio channel.
The final stint saw them running P4 and P5, Yuki just ahead, defending against a charging Ferrari while YN managed the gap to the McLaren behind. Their pace was metronomic, matching each other sector by sector.
"Yuki and YN, maintain position, great job both of you," their team principal's voice came over the radio on the cool-down lap. "Strong points for the team today."
In parc fermé, they found each other immediately, as if drawn by some invisible force. Yuki pulled her into a quick hug, the kind they'd shared countless times in their junior careers but felt different now under the Formula 1 spotlight.
"Just like the old days," he murmured, quiet enough that only she could hear. "Except now we're doing it in F1."
The media obligations blurred together after that – questions about team dynamics, about their history together, about her continued progress in the sport. But one moment stood out, when a reporter asked about their obvious synchronicity on track.
"You and Yuki seem to have an almost telepathic understanding during races. How much does your shared history in junior formulas play into that?"
YN caught Yuki's eye across the media pen, saw that familiar half-smile playing at his lips. "When you've spent as many years as we have pushing each other to be better, you develop a sort of shorthand," she answered. "It's like having a racing dictionary that only we know how to read."
Later, as they sat in the team's hospitality unit reviewing race data, shoulders brushing as they leaned over the same screen, YN felt that familiar warmth in her chest. P4 and P5 might not have the glamour of Singapore's podium, but there was something special about achieving it together, about proving they could be just as strong as teammates as they had been as rivals.
"Your exit speed through turn 19 was insane," Yuki commented, pointing at a particular segment of data. "Always been better than me there."
"Yeah, well, your sector one was textbook perfect," she replied, nudging his shoulder. "Some things never change."
As the Texas sun set over the circuit, casting long shadows across the paddock, YN realized that success in Formula 1 wasn't just measured in podiums and points. Sometimes it was in the synchronized pit stops, the matched sector times, the understood glances across briefing rooms. Sometimes it was in the way Yuki still remembered how she liked her post-race coffee, or how he could read her mood from the way she adjusted her gloves before a session.
The hunger for success was still there, burning as bright as ever, but now it felt shared – a flame they tended together, pushing each other toward greater heights. And if that flame sometimes felt like it could burn down the careful walls between teammates and something more, well, that was just another kind of race they were learning to navigate.
In the team photo later, standing in front of their cars with their race boots still dusty from the COTA track walk, YN felt Yuki's hand brush against hers, a ghost of a touch that sent sparks through her racing gloves. Some victories, she was learning, didn't need podiums to feel just as sweet.
Tumblr media
The evening after the race, YN found herself in her hotel room, the adrenaline of the day finally wearing off. Her phone buzzed with a message from Yuki: "Roof? Like old times?"
It was their tradition, started in Formula 3 – finding the highest point they could after a race, away from the cameras and expectations. Back then, it had been trailer roofs and empty grandstands. Now, standing on the hotel's rooftop terrace, Austin's skyline glittered before them like a circuit made of stars.
"Thought I'd find you overthinking everything," Yuki said, appearing beside her with two cups of green tea – another tradition from their junior days. His race suit was replaced with team joggers and a hoodie, but his hair still bore the marks of his helmet, sticking up at odd angles.
"Not overthinking," YN protested, accepting the tea. "Just... processing."
"Liar." His shoulder bumped against hers as he leaned on the railing. "I know that look. Same one you had after your first F3 win. Like you're waiting for someone to say it was all a mistake."
The city lights blurred as she stared into her tea. "It's different now. Every move we make, every point we score... it's not just about us anymore. Did you see how many girls were in the grandstands today? Wearing our team colors, holding signs..."
"I saw." His voice was soft. "I also saw how you fought through sector two like a demon. How you didn't lift once through turn 15. That's what they were cheering for – not what you represent, but what you do."
YN turned to look at him, finding his dark eyes already on her. In the dim light, she could almost pretend they were back in their early racing days, when everything felt simpler. When the weight of inspiration didn't rest quite so heavy on her shoulders.
"Sometimes I miss when it was just us," she admitted quietly. "Just two kids with dreams too big for our budget racing suits."
"It's still us," Yuki said, his hand finding hers on the railing. "The cameras just have better angles now."
That startled a laugh out of her, breaking the tension. "Remember when we used to practice interviews?"
"And you always made me play the journalist asking about tire management," he grinned. "Look how far we've come."
The night air wrapped around them like a comfortable silence, filled with years of shared memories and unspoken understanding. YN felt the familiar flutter in her chest when Yuki's thumb absently traced patterns on her hand, probably not even aware he was doing it.
"Hey," he said suddenly, turning to face her fully. "About what you said in the press conference today – about having a racing dictionary only we know how to read?"
She nodded, remembering the moment.
"Some things don't need translation." His voice was barely above a whisper, but his eyes said everything his words couldn't.
The space between them seemed to shrink, the city lights and pressure and expectations fading until all that remained was the warmth of his hand in hers and the understanding that had grown between them over countless races and shared dreams.
Racing was about timing – knowing exactly when to brake, when to accelerate, when to take the risk that could change everything. As YN looked at Yuki, at the boy who'd become her best friend and the man who'd become so much more, she wondered if some moments were worth the risk of missing the apex altogether.
The Texas night held its breath, waiting for someone to make the first move in this new kind of race – one where the finish line looked suspiciously like the beginning of something else entirely.
Tumblr media
The Mexico City paddock hummed with anticipation as teams prepared for the next race weekend. YN found herself spending more time in the VCARB garage even when she wasn't required to be there, drawn by the comfortable rhythm she and Yuki had developed. Their shared success in Austin had only strengthened their partnership, both on and off track.
During technical briefings, they sat closer than necessary, shoulders brushing as they reviewed sector times. Their race engineers had started presenting their data side by side, noting how their driving styles had begun to complement each other. Where YN was bold through the high-speed corners, Yuki was precise in the technical sections. Together, they were pushing VCARB higher in the constructors' championship with each race.
"Your throttle application through turn 4 is getting aggressive," Yuki noted one evening, pointing at her telemetry data. The garage had emptied hours ago, but they remained, bathed in the blue glow of monitors.
"Says the one who's been taking my lines through the chicane," YN replied, unable to hide her smile. The way he studied her data with such intensity made her heart race faster than any qualifying lap.
The pressure of being Formula 1's breakthrough female driver still weighed heavily, but Yuki had a way of making it feel lighter. He'd started joining her for media obligations, his presence a silent support system. When journalists asked about gender barriers, he'd seamlessly redirect the conversation to her racing prowess, her technical feedback, her contribution to the team.
One rainy evening in Mexico City, they found themselves trapped in the engineering office as a tropical storm passed over the circuit. Thunder rattled the windows as they worked through race simulation data.
"Remember Suzuka in F3?" Yuki asked suddenly, looking up from his laptop. "That rain-soaked qualifying?"
"When you insisted on running slicks because the forecast said it would clear?" YN laughed. "And then it poured harder?"
"Hey, you followed me out on slicks too!"
"Because I trusted you," she said softly, the words carrying more weight than intended.
The silence that followed was filled with years of shared risks, mutual trust, and something deeper that had been growing between them since Austin. Yuki's hand found hers across the desk, their fingers intertwining naturally, like two racing lines converging at the perfect apex.
In their world of precise measurements and calculated risks, this thing between them was wonderfully unpredictable. It showed in the lingering hugs after good results, in the way Yuki's eyes sought her out across crowded drivers' briefings, in how their casual touches had become as natural as breathing.
The pressure of being a role model, of carrying the hopes of countless young girls, still kept YN awake some nights. But now, when the weight felt too heavy, she had someone who understood both the burden and the beauty of it. Someone who saw her not as a symbol or a milestone, but as a racer, a friend, and maybe something more.
The thunder rolled on, but in their quiet corner of the paddock, they had found their own kind of peace – one built on shared dreams, mutual understanding, and the exhilarating promise of what lay ahead, both on and off the track.
Tumblr media
The Mexico City podium celebration was still echoing through the paddock as YN made her way back to the garage. P3 felt sweeter than Singapore somehow - maybe because this time, Yuki was right there in P4, both of them having fought their way through the field together. As she rounded the corner, Lando Norris fell into step beside her, a knowing grin on his face.
"So," he drawled, "that was quite the defense you two pulled off against the Ferraris. Almost like you could read each other's minds."
"Good team strategy," YN replied diplomatically, but she could feel her cheeks warming.
"Right, 'team strategy,'" Lando air-quoted. "Is that what we're calling those long 'engineering briefings' you two keep having on the hotel roof?"
Before YN could respond, Charles Leclerc joined them, still in his race suit. "Leave them alone, Lando," he said, but his eyes sparkled with mischief. "Though I have to say, YN, your racing line through turn 4 is starting to look suspiciously like Yuki's..."
The teasing followed them to Brazil, where the intensity of Interlagos only seemed to strengthen their connection. During the drivers' parade, Alex Albon nudged Yuki. "Remember when you used to complain about sharing data with teammates? Now we can't get you out of the engineering room."
Yuki's face flushed, but he couldn't hide his smile. "The team's progress is important," he muttered.
"The team, or a specific teammate?" Pierre Gasly chimed in from behind them, earning a chorus of laughs.
In the garage, their race engineers had started making jokes about their synchronized feedback. "Let me guess," YN's engineer would say when she reported understeer, "Yuki's about to radio in with the same thing?" He was usually right.
The social media buzz was growing too. Fan accounts dedicated to capturing their moments together multiplied overnight. Every shared laugh, every trackside conversation, every celebratory hug was analyzed and gif'd within minutes. #TeamTsunoda began trending alongside #YNSupremacy.
But it was in the quiet moments between sessions that their bond deepened most. After a particularly challenging practice session in São Paulo, YN found Yuki waiting in their usual spot - a secluded corner of the garage with a perfect view of the timing screens.
"The media's getting worse," she sighed, slumping beside him. The questions had shifted from her racing to her personal life, from her achievements to her relationship status. The weight of being not just a female driver but now half of F1's most speculated-about pair was beginning to wear.
Yuki's hand found hers instinctively. "Then we give them something real to talk about - our racing," he said firmly. "Show them why we're here."
They did exactly that in qualifying, setting the track alight with a synchronized performance that put them P3 and P4. In the cooldown room, Max Verstappen shook his head with amusement. "You two are scary when you're in sync like that."
"They're always in sync," George Russell called out. "Haven't you seen their matching coffee orders?"
The race itself was a masterclass in teamwork. Lap after lap, they defended and attacked as one unit, their cars dancing through Interlagos's sweeping turns like partners in a carefully choreographed ballet. When Yuki's radio crackled with a strategy call, YN was already adjusting her lines to complement his movement.
"Your girlfriend's got your back again, Tsunoda," came Lewis Hamilton's teasing voice over the radio after YN perfectly blocked an overtaking attempt that would have compromised Yuki's position.
In parc fermé, with another double points finish secured, they found each other through the crowd of mechanics and media. The cameras caught their embrace, longer than usual, neither caring about the headlines it would generate.
"Did you see Twitter?" Daniel Ricciardo grinned as they walked to the podium ceremony. "They're calling you two the 'Race Track Romance.'"
"Better than what they used to call me," YN said softly, remembering the early days when every mistake was attributed to her gender.
"They call you a brilliant driver now," Yuki said firmly, his hand brushing against hers. "Everything else is just noise."
Later, in their now-traditional post-race debrief on the hotel roof, the São Paulo sunset painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, YN felt the familiar flutter in her chest as Yuki traced the racing line of turn 1 on her palm.
"The media's right about one thing," he said quietly. "We are better together."
"Because we push each other to be better," YN replied, but they both knew it was more than that.
"Remember in Austin," Yuki began, turning to face her fully, "when you said some things don't need translation?"
YN nodded, her heart racing faster than any qualifying lap.
"Well," he continued, his dark eyes intense, "I think I'm tired of leaving things unspoken."
The Brazilian night air held its breath as the space between them disappeared, years of friendship, rivalry, and unspoken feelings finally converging at the perfect moment. As their lips met, soft and sure, YN realized that while making history as a female F1 driver had opened doors for others, this - finding someone who saw her as both a fierce competitor and a woman who made his heart race - was a different kind of breakthrough altogether.
The paddock's teasing, the media speculation, the fan theories - none of it mattered. What mattered was the way Yuki's hands cupped her face like she was both strong and precious, the way their heartbeats synchronized like perfectly matched sector times, the way everything finally felt right in their high-speed world.
They had always been good at reading each other's moves on track. Now, as they pulled apart just enough to share breathless smiles, they realized they'd been reading each other's hearts all along. Some victories, after all, were worth more than any podium.

This doesn’t get talked about enough. I know RB haven’t always made stellar strategy decisions lately but the way they operate is always decisive. Listening to Max and GP on the radio is like listening to one mind (even if the brain cells are fighting 😂). GP is always calm, gives Max the information he needs, lets him know the vibes, and critically doesn’t ask him to do anything except drive the car.
McLaren are constantly talking to Oscar and Lando, asking for opinions like they’re the ones sitting in front of the telemetry and listening to other people’s radio. They’re always acting like their drivers know more than they possibly could. Idk how Lando and Oscar don’t find that stressful during the race. They have to think too much.

2024 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Analysis
My in depth analysis on Charles and Ferrari as a team, George, Logan + some additional notes on other drivers/moments
Tumblr media
Charles
Charles started from P2 but right away it was clear that something was not right with the car. After locking up in several corners it became clear that he had a serious issue with his brakes. Radio revealed that he had a major brake imbalance with a temp difference of 100 degrees.
This made him unable to defend against Russell and Perez and he was also overtaken by teammate Sainz(in an unnecessarily risky move on Sainz part)
Later in the race Charles did pick up some pace. Overtook Russell, and set the second fastest lap of the race. All on brakes that were wildly out of balance and overheating. It can not be overstated how impressive his driving was under these conditions.
He finished in P4, behind his teammate Sainz and the two Red Bulls.
Charles' race did look different at the beginning and the end. At the beginning he was completely thrown off by the brake issue, unable to trust the car.
Near the end he at least had managed to mitigate enough to overtake Russell and actually gain some pace towards the end.
I firmly believe that without the brake issue Charles would have been on the podium and would have been contending for P2 at the very least. P4 in these conditions just speaks to his skill as a driver.
Ferrari and Sainz
Sainz: quick mention of Sainz part in the race. His overtake on Charles was unnecessary and dangerous. He would have had the chance to pass safely but was impatient. Other than that his race was fine. Didn't make any progress gaining on Perez and finished P3.
Ferrari
As tough as this weekend was there are a lot of positive takeaways for Ferrari.
We learned that the SF-24 has better race pace and does not have the tyre degradation issues of the SF-23.
Carlos' race showed the improved reliability of the SF-23
If that was Charles race handicapped by brakes then he will be competitive in future races
Ferrari clearly top 2: both drivers brought home points for the constructors
Pit stop timing was good, and Charles' stop was the fastest of the race.
If this is the base then Ferrari are at a good starting point for developing the car over the season.
Ferrari knew there was something up with the temp management on Charles’ car because they replaced the front left brake duct exit deflector. A bad adjustment or other error made by the mechanics making this adjustment cost Charles his race.
Fortunately this is an issue that can be easily fixed before Jeddah.
Strategy-wise the biggest problem was Sainz. There was no reason to pull that overtake on Charles. It was risky. Ferrari were probably going to have them swap anyway because of Charles' problems. He should have waited and not put pressure on an already struggling teammate.
I agree that it does make sense to have the driver who isn't dealing with a major mechanical problem in the front, but that means it should be orchestrated by the team at a safe point to do so. It wasn't urgent. So Sainz really was not serving the team with that move.
Telemetry confirms Charles' brake issues, and that he was competitive with Sainz even with overheating brakes. It also shows that Carlos was not fighting the brakes in the same way.  He was actually making up better pace than Carlos by the end of the race. It's pretty clear he would have been on the podium without the brake problem.
Tumblr media
Over the course of the race Charles was able to mediate, and you can see how close he was even with the problem with the brakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charles set his fastest lap which outdid Sainz even while he was struggling on the brakes and Sainz didn't have any such issues.
As painful as this race was, it's a better start for Charles and for Ferrari than last year.
George
George qualified P3 and finished P5.
At the start George was looking good holding onto his position. But as the race progressed it became clear he didn't have the power to hold onto his place. He was overtaken by both Ferraris(by Charles twice)
The issue he faced was with the engine cooling problems with his car. George couldn't push the overtake button to really stay competitive, he risked overheating and frying the engine if he did, so he basically was stuck where he was until he was caught, unable to fight back after being overtaken. Realistically he should have been able to stay ahead of Charles(who was having his own problems)
This does seem to be a weakness on both Mercedes. It's a shame because he is fast and drove about as well as he could given the limitations of the car.
Starting off ahead of Lewis which looks good for him long term. Though Lewis was also battling similar issues and a broken seat.
Logan
Sad day for Logan. And another case of a bad result not being a driver's fault. He had a problem with his steering wheel that based on my understanding of how it was reported, changed the brake balance by itself(it's hard to figure out what exactly went on). This apparently was an issue in qualifying and it happened again causing him to be unable to brake reliably around a turn and come to a halt completely.
Still he was able to finish his race.
It's unfortunate because until the wheel problem cropped up his pace was improved from last year, and we might have seen a much better result. He was actually faster than Alex at the start and put in an impressive fastest lap time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see his pace was good and then becomes suddenly erratic. He was on pace to place higher.
Logan finished in P20, which means he can only improve in placement.
Based on what we saw in testing and quali and even those opening laps I do think Logan's driving has improved and hopefully he gets to show us that this year.
Other moments and drivers of note
Valtteri: had mechanical issues with the car and ended up with a pit stop lasting 1:14
Yuki: Yuki's race was the most frustrating after Charles. And it's because he was not being prioritized by the team when it would have been wise to do so. VCARB gave team orders for him to switch places behind Daniel. Daniel was unable to overtake Magnussen and this move was a posturing stunt for Dani. Yuki is right to be angry. He was fighting for points and the team threw that away to give priority to Dani.
Alex: Alex had some similar issues to Logan and was unable to race properly. Power issues as well as wheel problems made it impossible to overtake.
Haas: were better than expected. Might actually get more points than last year. Tyre management and wear was better.
Zhou: also put in a good first race, coming in just outside the points in P11.
Lewis: his seat broke somehow??? Probably the strangest car problem of the race. I don't even know what to say about that. But if Mercedes can't even build a chair it's no wonder he's leaving.
Mercedes: Lewis had battery problems, and both cars had engine power problems making it difficult to gain places.
Red Bull/Max started strong, no real surprises there.
This race is notable because all 20 drivers did complete the race.
Overall this race revealed a lot of mechanical and technical issues in Mercedes and Williams. Ferrari performed well in spite of Charles' brake issue. We have yet to see these cars reach their competitive potential against Red Bull.
See you next week for Jeddah GP analysis

This whole Monaco 2022 crashgate makes me think back to Monaco 2021. Where a certain other driver also crashed, thereby securing his own pole and ensuring that Max could not improve his time. I’m not talking about the eventual heartbreaking DNS that followed 24 hours later. But before that, there were a whole lot of tongues wagging, of speculation, of suspicion.
Of course, Max wasn’t happy back then either; he made that loud and clear on the radio. But when they asked him - right after that whole ordeal, no telemetry or analysis available to him yet, in the height of his disappointment - whether he thought Charles had crashed deliberately, he said:
Tumblr media
But Max didn’t stop there. He defended Charles further:
Tumblr media
You know… Monaco, the track where quali is everything and where it’s impossible to overtake, where he was clawing for every point in the championship, while others were snarking and questioning Charles’ motives, where a year later he had clear suspicions about his own teammate immediately (May 29, 2022):
Tumblr media
When it came to Checo, he also didn’t hold back advocating for quali rule changes for drivers who cause a red flag (May 29, 2022):
Tumblr media
And yet, not for a single fucking second did Max Verstappen even consider questioning Charles Leclerc’s integrity, and he basically called you stupid if you did. This was the same angsty, red-faced teenager who raged “he’s just not fair!” on a rainy day 10 years ago. But here he is, 10 years later, defending that same boy with the stupid floppy hair because he knows him, what kind of competitor he is, what kind of person he is. He cannot even entertain the idea that Charles is capable of cheating. And this - this - is exactly why their rivalry will always remain unparalleled for me.
When Max and Charles talk about the fairness and respect between them, they really fucking mean it.

Telemetry and Data Analysis
Alright, so i thought I would dive into telemetry because it is such an important part of F1 that I feel most people don't entirely understand. I will explain what it is, how it is gathered how it is used, and other such info. Enjoy!
So, as most people know F1 cars are absolutely covered in sensors, Hundreds, in fact, and their main purpose is to gather as much data as possible form the car, transmit it to the bit wall, and be used for strategic decisions and also to keep an eye on the health of the car.
Major Sensors
Engine/Power Unit: These sensors measure temperature, pressure fuel flow, and RPMs.
Tires: These sensors help keep track of tire life, temperature, and pressure.
Brakes: These sensors keep track of brake temperature and life.
Suspension: These sensors measure the vertical movement, stiffness, and ground clearance of the car.
GPS and Accelerometers: These sensors track the cars position, velocity, acceleration, and the G-forces it is experiencing.
Steering and Throttle Position: These sensors track driver input and typical behavior in race.
Telemetry System: This is the system inside of the car that gathers all of the data from these various sensors and sends them back to the pit wall.
Types of Data Collected:
Performance Data: These are metrics like lap time, sector times, speed trap data, and acceleration. Helps drivers identify areas on track they are gaining or losing time, and is perhaps the data they pay the most attention to in regards to their own performances. A really good driver will be constantly analyzing performance data and altering the way they drive around the areas they lose time on track. This can also lead to major driver coaching in race, where for example the race engineer will advise on areas they need to pick up speed in order to maintain momentum and either keep or gain position
Health and Reliability Data: This data is things like engine health, brake temperature, fuel pressure, and oil levels. It helps them identify any issues that need handling mid race. for example if they see that their brake temperature is getting too high, they will alter the brake cooling ducts or have the driver change their braking style a little to help cool down. They also keep track of this data across the season so when they did upgrades or fixes, they can address consistent problem areas.
Grip and Environmental Data: This data surrounds things like tire wear, temperature, grip levels, track conditions, and weather. It helps make a lot of pit stop timing decisions, tire changes, and strategies around weather. For example, if the know from their data that a certain area of the track has less grip that others, the driver will take that into consideration as they move around it. Teams will also use the variety of conditions they experience throughout the year to help plan set ups around them, and add to the car's design for the next year.
What Do Strategists See?
So, on the pit wall you might notice that teams have a massive variety of screen in front of them. On these screens, the data is displayed as a mix of graphs, live dashboards, camera shots, and 3D visualizations. For example it shows real time speed of cars, the fuel levels and rate of consumption, critical temperatures, plots of speed trends and tire wear, the braking force at different areas, car positioning (their own car and others), etc. They analyze this data to help make best decisions, and usually the pit wall strategists are assigned to a particular area. For example, there might be someone on the pit wall who is in charge of keeping an eye on overall car temperature (engine, brake, and tire) and they transmit any critical info to the drivers race engineer.
They also have radio communications they listen to, though I suppose this is less see and more hear. This helps them get human information, as most of the time the best source for how things are going is the driver themselves. Through the radio they can also hear what other teams are discussing, which changes strategy calls as well. Another big part of the strategy calls, technically not telemetry, is the weather radar. Especially in places that experience intense weather shifts, like Spa or Brazil.
Tumblr media
(A publicly released piece of telemetry, not exactly what the pit wall sees but similar)
Tumblr media
(Older style F1 telemetry, still similar to today's)
So, in summery telemetry and data analysis allows teams to make informed decisions, tailor strategy, and understand both the car and driver better. Every detail is highly important to both race management and the overall development of the car.
I hope this post was informative.
Cheer,
-B

so glad george is ok after that crash, where he ended up was so scary
his onboard and radio was even scarier
but the most terrifying is the amount of people who cannot comprehend that fernando DID do something wrong and deserved the penalty???? like, looking at the telemetry, from the whole race and then that lap, he was braking erratically and in an unpredictable manner 100m before and into the braking zone???? he even admitted he made an error to the FIA? I’m not saying it’s cut and dry but like come on??? nando has been playing this game long enough to know better and to say he didn’t have a clue what was coming behind him at all is a stupid answer too. like you have zero spatial awareness at all?? you have no idea you’re battling george and he’s committing to stay in DRS range because your race engineer would 100% have been keeping him updated on the gap when it was that close. had george been injured (or worse considering where he ended up on the track) he’d (and the fans) would be singing a different tune. surprised but not surprised it’s even up for debate tbh. everyone got very lucky to have only walked away with some points on his license and a time penalty when realistically george could have lost his life smh

"Trisha's Log, Day... I don't dare keep up anymore..."
Part 1 2 3 4 5
(Haespar: It's day two. Trisha: Stop ruining my vibe, you're still dead. Haespar: Yes, and I'm haunting you. With facts. Trisha: *hisses*)
"IT HAS BEEN AN INDETERMINABLE NUMBER OF DAYS since I began this expedition, now turned struggle for survival. I've lost Emily and am actively searching for her, but having not had a bite to eat in weeks and running low on water, I don't know if I'll succeed. To whoever finds this-" (Emily: I got the remote power module. And some snacks, here. Haespar: Ooh, melon flavored, my favorite. Thank you very much, Emily. Trisha: *already chowing down on some cheese sticks* Dankss Ehmilhy, yhour da bhest. *gulp* Where was I? Haespar: Starving despair and loneliness. Trisha: Right! Emily, you're currently gone, so just be your usual self and the audience won't know.)
"If you've found this log, I am dead. I died while carrying out my vital mission and searching for my lovely assistant, but failed catastrophically. Unless you're listening to this from a library archive, in which case I totally succeeded and became an awesome legend!"
Trisha continues to detail all of her future exploits and galaxy spanning quest for vengeance, love, mystery, and cake.
Meanwhile:
Haespar: Alright, adjust the telemetry of this unit to the one Valencio cooked up yesterday, and that should hook the biological scanners back up to the bridge. Emily: Done. Haespar: Excellent. *taps his datapad* Ira, bio scans are up on our end, confirm? Ira: Yup, all green. Reading you three down there nice and clean. Trisha's a bit heated up. Monologuing? Haespar: About her imminent demise after years aboard this derelict. Ira: *chuckles* Alright, good to know. While you're there, check on the tertiary power splitter two floors down, the main one up here is acting up a little. Haespar: Will do. Hmm? What's wrong, Emily? Emily: It's flickering between 27 and 28. Haespar: What? Emily: The number of lifesigns aboard.
Trisha: WHOA WHOA WHOA!!! Legit mystery time! *gently into the recorder* (Pause on seducing one of the heads of the three headed corrupt banker to blackmail him for trade secrets only to learn the evil tech startup was a Illuminati cabal all along) Let me see, where is this mystery life dot.
Haespar: It's jumping all over, is there a pattern yet, Emily? Emily: Need to log more data, but doesn't feel like it.
Trisha: It is popping up for a few seconds and disappears for about four times as long though. Hey, isn't that kinda like how you'd do a radio connection attempt? Brute force every frequency range. Oh wait, but then you'd just do all at the same time. Hacking maybe? Trying to get into a specific system without tripping any alarms?
Emily *into her comms unit*: Ira, please send an all frequency ping at these intervals towards us.
Ira: Alright, *shouting* Valencio, give Emily these pings. *normal again* Should be sorted in a tick, what's that about anyway?
Haespar: The lifesign readings are being weird, showing a 28th at regular intervals in random locations. Could be one of the system we haven't checked yet is acting funny and somehow interfering wi- Emily: Wait. It stopped flickering. A 28th. On the bridge. *To comms* Ira?
Ira: Uhh, yeah. I'm looking at him.
???: Hello, my name is Professor Iorvan Hal'Ahmat Garaamhan. Thank you for answering my call.
