Saw a cis (I think) woman talking about how cis women need trans women because if trans women don’t exist then being a woman isn’t a choice and is instead just something you’re consigned to for life.

I’ve been thinking about it all day because I agree but I feel like there’s more to it than that.

#thinking about this all the fucking time lately #the rise of the idea that to be woman is to suffer is NEVERENDING RN #you can’t enter any women’s space without the convo being dominated by discourse about women being inherently (biologically) disadvantaged #it drives me absolutely insane !!#there’s no denying our society is built to oppress women. but it is WROnf to say therefore women are inherently oppressed #there’s nothing inherent about our oppression it comes from outside us and is actively maintained every day #this was on my mind so much while reading i who have never known men #stunning book. but so hard to stomach in some ways #it was a gorgeous tale of what it means to be human… but it was also an exploration of what it means to be a woman.#and despite the main character being born in an unexplained captivity without ever interacting with men..#everything she knew about womanhood + every conclusion she drew was defined by its differences from what it means to be a man #i just reject the concept on principle … that a young woman born without any example of our gender binary would still categorize her #understanding of herself in binary gender terms……….. maybe that’s too gen z of me but i don’t think so #anyway crazy ass tags i’m a lil tipsy sorry
