Elvis Costello and the Attractions - “Radio Radio” (1978)

Forty-six years ago today, on October 20, 1978, “Radio Radio,” the fourth single by Elvis Costello and the Attractions and Costello’s eighth single overall, was released. First issued as a standalone single, the song reached number 29 in the UK and was later appended onto the US release of Costello’s second album, This Year’s Model. Generally considered one of the artist’s best songs and one of the best songs of the decade, the sarcastic, sardonic anti-radio anthem was the surprise substitute for the song “Less Than Zero” on Costello’s infamous 1977 Saturday Night Live appearance that got him banned from the show for 11 years.
