i think this takes place during the era where al was on vacation but there were tons of sinners who thought he was secretly plotting something from the shadows (vox included) so when sigma males became a thing all the chronically online sinners applied it to alastor, since he made himself known and terrifying for a few decades and then just quieted down and lived peacefully while maintaining that fear, sigma behaviour. they can't use photos of him though, for obvious reasons, so they use fanart and pics of his radio tower, which looks kinda cringe and gets them bullied by the vox alpha dudes.

so eventually, when alastor returns and stayed gone happens, it just fuels the fire of spite between the two factions.
