I think something else to note since my other post about PK is getting attention: is that unless someone knows what they're doing, dreams cannot be controlled.

This is why the Radiance is so damn dangerous: she will find a crack and worm her way in, promising sweet things that the average person can't fight back against. Every single uninfected person with is lucky to not have come under her radar/hasn't been there long enough/has a very strong will and sense of self. Even then, the strongest of wills can break (as evidenced with Holly) and it's only a matter of time before she claims everything.

They can fight back in dreams, but they can't control them. PK is not a dream god, just knows enough about the realms and has enough power to bullshit his way through this whole plan and the moving of the palace. That also means since he's not inherently a dream god and doesn't know everything, the White Palace ends up shifting and twisting into the platforming hell it is now. He doesn't have full control over it, and his emotions will dictate how it ends up being.

The only two beings that we know of that can control dreams in some way is the Radiance and Grimm. Grimm too is definitely the weaker one, being stuck in the nightmare realm and having to do this ritual. I think it's safe to say Radi and him probably got into some sort of feud (that Radi probably started with what we know of both of their personalities) and it lead to the realms separating. Everyone else is subject to their unconscious mind, and both Gods can take advantage if they want to. Grimm doesn't seem to interested in doing so other than harvesting essence, but Radi sure does, as that is a core mechanic of how the infection works.

Now the biggest question is: can a dream be sustained after its host is dead?

If we assume no, then maybe with Grimm's or Radi's intervention it can keep going, but I doubt it would work forever and would be draining on them both. They'd have to have a damn good reason to keep a dream alive.

But also if we assume no, the fuck is going on with the White Palace? Is the king somehow still alive in some form?

Though if the answer is yes, then the White Palace is a graveyard, a lingering fragment in the Dream Realm, and one that will fade with time.

All sorts of fun headcanons can come from just the concept of the dream realms alone. Being a fan of the Yume Nikki games, I think I like the idea of the King not being in full control of his dreams and a lot of the internal guilt and grief and wanting to run away from it all manifesting as a result. And you have to wonder just how it remains there when the King is seemingly dead...

yes i know we have exactly 2 examples of butterflies in the game, one of which is in a sequel that isn't even out yet, no this will not stop me from creating a complex headcanon web around them so that the background character i hyperfixated on with little to no canon lore can feasibly share my own frustrations with being caught between two worlds and not belonging to either as an immigrant's son who does not fit in with the culture he was raised in or the one he's surrounded by. yes i am going to make this a problem for everyone who follows me. It had been awhile since I read my Yamahibi kingmaker ending fic, and now I have a powerful craving to revisit it.

My wife is super interested in homesteading and survivalism, and she helped me figure out all the things the DeSu 2 cast would actually have to do to survive on a primeval planet. It's really interesting! Farming is so fucking hard! They are all wildly unequipped for it!

On one hand, Yamato is unbelievably valid for deciding that jumping to his death was an infinitely preferable alternative to living like a caveman on Planet Saiduq, but also I think he should have to just because I want to see it. Can you imagine how mad he'd be every single day they don't have electricity.

But I do think he would see the appeal of a fresh start and having a hand in shaping all subsequent generations, and I love that for him. He'd still get his wish to change humanity, but it's the long, hard road and not the press of the Polaris button.

I like to imagine that there were more survivors than just the main cast, which gives the opportunity for crossovers galore. Looking at you, P5 cast. Plus I'm pretty sure you need at least 50 fertile childbearers if you actually need to repopulate, so if it's really just the 10 of them there's not a snowball's chance in hell they make it past generation 3.

lectro seems to be the kind of guy who is Genuinely well intentioned and wants the best for everyone but that leads him to be a touch naive, because he just assumes everyone has good intentions as well (Incorrect!). ezra obviously takes advantage of this and goes yeah. what were doing here is for the greater good :)

im thinking hes like a slightly dumb older brother type. hes not one to turn down fun but loyal to a Fault yknow. ezra said its for the greater good and he wouldnt lie right?

even when confronted with the truth hes Stubborn, and takes it more as a personal attack than someone trying to open his eyes to whats really going on with ezra's plan.

if he found out everything thats been going down his trust would be SHATTERED. and hed turn away from the deadly muzix immediately, never trusting them ever again, even if other members started disbanding too.

he means so well that itd kill him inside knowing he was helping someone who was hungry for power but like the man he is he'd double down on trying to do good. wanting to repay a "debt" he feels he owes to everyone. not the type to hold it against anyone if they lashed out at him because he gets it, he hurt them either directly or indirectly. but he just keeps going.

he doesnt have time to feel sorry for himself!!! theres something so charming about a man whose a bit of a ditz but he will stand by his morals to the end.

thinking about my blorbos, and while im consistenly well fed with great Pale King interpretations, im actually starved of Radiance content, like she has so much potential guys, her relationship with the moths and other gods before PK arrival, how she handled his arrival, her descent into madness after being nearly forgotten and then the hatred she felt for everything, its right there and with so much room for headcanons why isnt there more Radi content >:(
