I haven't been on too much so maybe i just havent seen anything yet.

Forgetting completely about Buck and Eddie and Bobby and Tommy entirely for a moment, I really hope CHIM and HEN get to say their piece to Gerrard in season 8. I really really need them to have SOME SORT of dialogue between Chim/Hen and Gerrard this season, because the writers and show runners giving Chim a one-liner last season and focusing more on Tommys thoughts about working under Gerrard made me feel a little.. odd to say the least

my favorite thing about the "stop using your phone at full volume on public transit" posts is all the people who actually do that shit hearing tens of thousands of times how unpleasant everyone else thinks they are being. my least favorite thing is the replies complaining specifically about it "always being Rap Music" yikes

#there is certainly a racialized element to any complaint about public behavior #if youre thinking “this would not bother me if it was Mozart” well have a think about that one probably #absolutely the worst repeat offenders that i observe in the places i go is old people #either having speakerphone convos which is partially understandable due to age related hearing loss and lack of familiarity with headphones #or--and this is the worst one--just playing phone games as loud as possible. in places like doctor's office waiting rooms #music is not the most common bad quality noise intrusion in public in this context imo #except from actual businesses which again should be vandalized at every opportunity #“well it doesnt bother me” completely irrelevant #hearing acuity and sensitivity to noise varies so drastically person to person #“this is cop behavior” if you dont already know cops are the loudest people in any area they are present already then idk what to tell you #“threatening to beat someone up for playing music” it is a joke article from a joke newspaper

When I was in college, I let German tourists take pictures with me in my graduation gown. Even at the time I thought it was weird. But since my college years, I haven’t allowed strangers to take pics of me “just because” here or abroad. “Curiosity” means very little to me. People on the clock app were saying in China they actually have been known to post pics of Black people on WeChat to make fun of them. So, maybe not the best idea to let strangers take pics of/with you. Anyway, I wish you all safe, joyous, and comfortable travels. You deserve to see the world in peace just like anyone else.

#Moby Dick #Was not expecting a comedy out of this book tbh #Nor was I expecting homoeroticism #And I was NOT expecting Herman Melville to actually be cool about representing non-Christian religion in a Christian dominated society??#And there's only been one (1) woman in the book so far but she was such a cool character?#Plus there's a shocking amount of class consciousness in this??#Herman Melville Woke King??????#This book came out in 1851 and Ishmael's saying this Pacific Islander he met a couple of days ago is basically George Washington #He does keep calling him a cannibal and the guy does keep talking about doing cannibalism #So it might not hold up to modern standards for racial sensitivity in that regard #But like the man's saying that this guy wanted to give Christianity a try #Figured out that it wasn't for him so he went back to his pagan ways and literal idol worship #And Ishmael was like “Whoa based? God said to love your fellow man and this is man is as equal to me as anyone else”#Real shit here honestly #This was pre-Civil War this is amazingly ahead of its time in terms of racial justice #Also: “hell is an idea first born on an undigested apple-dumpling” is based as fuck I love this guy so much #The first chapter is a masterpiece #“This is my substitute for pistol and ball. I recently fell down a very specific instagram rabbit hole of “family vloggers who live in RVs full time” and at least 70% of the ones I saw reminded me of fundie families trying to cram multiple kids into one bedroom, homeschooling, and any concerns from viewers about the living situation/the kids (mainly if they really want to be living that life, if they’re okay with cameras in their face all the time, how they’re doing with almost no privacy and scattered friends etc) is met with waves of other people going “stop judging! don’t be hateful! it works for them! leave them alone!” and the parents themselves ignoring the concerns and only acknowledging the praise.

Like the venn diagram of fundies and family vloggers is probably close to being just an overlapping circle at this point, just without the religious parts…or who knows, maybe there’s a “fundie RV family vloggers” account out there. I climbed out of the rabbit hole before I got that far and I’d be perfectly okay with never stumbling across it

I 100% agree, I've been down that rabbit hole too and there are actually so many of those families that I consider to be a new twist on fundie families. Many of them are homeschooling bc they believe public schools will "indoctrinate" their kids, many of them use the same homeschooling curriculum as a lot of fundies, many of them prescribe to the Duggar-esque philosophy of bare bones child rearing in the parental relationship and personal space sense..

I feel like it's the new acceptable way to be a fundie parent, because it seems exciting and harmless to most people and they're usually making fun videos w/ cool music in tank tops, but when you're familiar with fundie families those red flags start going up immediately lol. I remember seeing one family that literally had kids sleeping in the tiny ass RV bathtub and on the floors every night bc they just didn't have enough bed space, and they were hella Christian homeschoolers but because they dressed like normal people it just kind of went over most people's heads.

I feel like RV life is also a new way for these kind of families to mitigate the increasing cost of living when they have extremely expensive life choices, esp since it can be branded as a Fun Adventure! for the kids. When I think about growing up that way though with a million siblings in these van sized homes though I mean, it just seems like a breeding groundfor all kinds of future issues y'know?
