I don't know whether anyone has ever noticed that, in the scene when Jack becomes a Scab, when the horse and carriage comes bounding out, Race grabs Spots wrist and pulls him out of they way. If you haven't, next time you watch 92sies, look out for it. Also in KONY, as Blink sings, "Making the headline out of a hunch", if you watch Spot and Race, the camera angle just picks up Spot patting Race on the back, I know I'm delusional, but I like to believe its kind of a support slap, before Race sings his line!!! But then again, I am a really hard-core Sprace shipper, and as I've also mentioned, I am very delusional. KONY has so many Sprace scenes in it. It's unreal! I will never shut up about the sheer amount of times Race looks at Spot when they are holding the drinks glasses at the end of KONY, it's especially visible when Race says, "I'll give them a message" They actually make eye contact in this bit instead of it just being Race constantly looking at Spot or vice versa ahahahah, also it is far too late for me to be up on a school night especially as I went to bed at 4am yesterday, (oops) Night x ♡

Things In Newsies Live I Think About A Lot #1

Y'know that part at the beginning of KONY, when Race mimicks the Statue of Liberty by clutching the paper to his chest and holding a glass above his head? Well, you mightn't have noticed that when he does this, Henry is standing in front of him on the floor and he mouths "I'm the king of New York" when Race says it.

Does this mean that Race frequently goes into song and dance about being the king of New York? Does this mean that Henry knows Race so well that he can predict what he's about to say? Or is Henry magic and can read Race's mind?

Now, I don't want to make any assumptions here, but I like the sound of that last one.

so this whole song comes from Race wanting to like build morale

so I’m thinking he’s trying to like..entice the other newsies with things that he knows they love/really really want

ex. Race knows Romeo’s shoelaces have been mismatched ever since one of them snapped, so he’s all like “a pair of new shoes with matching laces”

then Romeo obviously knows how much Race would love to go to Sheepshead and not have to sit on the fence, so he’s like “a permanent box at the Sheepshead races”

also if this applies, Les knowing that Davey feels super squished into the bed they share?? like omg he’s so cute

I saw TUTS Newsies last night and here are some little things I noticed and also thoughts and opinions because I have them!

The *second* the actor stepped on stage, @jlmjlmjlm leans over to me and says “He is SO Davey” and I 1000% agree. Costume, acting, the way he held himself? Perfection. THE Davey of all time

((Davey was the show stealer for me honestly. He was so fucking good. Put his whole Davussy into everything. Probably the best tenor in the show and also a great dancer))

PULITZER HAS A RUSSAIN/EUROPEAN ACCENT??

In the first circulation gate scene where Davey is introduced, Race sits on a stack of newspapers and continuously drums on them, kind of in his own little world, incredible ADHD coded

In the transition after the “That’s disgusting/that’s business” scene, Les spits on his hand and shoves it in Davey’s face. Davey moves out of the was but cracks the fuck up. It’s so siblings and so damn cute

Davey tries to follow Jack when he goes up to the box to speak with Katherine, but Jack stops him

The scene before TWWK shows Davey as MUCH more conflicted than livesies. He’s not standing with the newsies, he’s in the middle of the stage and keeps looking back between the circulation gate and them and finally goes with the newsies to strike and it’s SO GOOD

Honestly this whole scene Davey is SUCH A FUCKING LEADER and it’s amazing! Not only Jack, but the rest of the newsies keep looking for to him for guidance on the strike and it’s very funny but also so good. I think this might be my favorite Davey yet.

In the Seize the Day fight scene, one of the goons picks up Les and Davey and a few other newsies go to help him and then use him as a battering ram

“The woild is… *dramatic pause, looks off into distance* ya erster!” “Ya what?” 😒 “*redoes dramatic pause* Ya erster!”

No tap break for KONY :(

But Katherine and Davey are BESTIESSSSS! She stands on the table and says “Alright Davey!”

Davey also ate during this dance scene and left not a single crumb

“Is that a real place? Is that—”*Davey takes off his hat and holds it to his heart and looks up to the sky like he’s swooning* “Santa Fe?”

The way they hid Katherine from Jack in Pulitzer’s office was SO FUCKING FUNNY. Pulitzer tells her to sit before Jack comes in and she does, but as soon as the door opens she makes the shrek meme face and spins the chair around and slides her back down the chair to hide and it was SO GOOD that actress was so fantastic!

When Davey is speaking at the rally before Jack gets there, one of the newsies shouts “YOU TELL EM DAVEY!” And it’s very cute and funny, these newsies looooove Davey

Oh my god the POST RALLY TRANSITION??? Is fucking amazing. Jack takes the money off to the side and disappears. Spotlight on Davey and the Manhattan newsies all forming a line on the apron. They all start looking for Jack, calling for him and no one can find him so they all look to DAVEY and start crowding him like “what do we do?” And Davey has no idea what to do, gets overwhelmed and runs offstage, all of the newsies following him

Before Once And For All, Katherine and Davey have an off to the side moment and give each other little hi-fives

*thick Russian accent* “It’s a compromise we can all live with”

“What’s Santa Fe got that New York ain’t? Sandstorms?”

When Jack and Katherine kiss at the very end of the show, all the newsies lose their shit and Davey is the ONLY one who doesn’t clap for them akdhsjsj

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with and looooved how Davey-centric it was! One of my favorite Davey’s ever. He and Kath totally stole the show. Great experience and probably the best birthday present ever in the history 💞💞

ok so the main thins about the choreo is that those three long tables are gone, and jacobi’s now has these individual diner-style square tables all on wheels. they do some other choreo first before they start tapping and some of the tables are moved back. newsies hold down the tables so they don’t shake too much when other boys hop up to tap. les has a genuine tap solo. iirc they don’t make fun of katherine’s tapping… they have a moment where they yell at her to get up on one of the tables and four newsies do some cup-ohraphy around her feet while the rest do it at the other tables. there’s also no spoon fight..?? like the music is. different actually like there’s no music for the spoon fight bc uhh they have more interesting things to do.

they do lots of movement with the tables, there’s some cool lighting moments especially— davey also sits les on a table and drives him up through the row of newsies and he’s using a platter as a little steering wheel <333 this song is rly used as a way to show that davey and les are definitely two of the gang now much more than uhh bway/livesies that mostly just had them in it lmao

then of course to top all this shit off. these industrial hanging lights that have been flown in from above for the scene fly a little lower. some of the newsies had been wearing some kind of glove that i’d thought was like “oh they got hurt there in the strikebreaking.” NO. i watch finch attach his fucking hand to the outer rim of this light, lift himself off the table he’s standing on, and do an upside-down split. then (and PLEASE correct me if i have this order wrong) it’s either. 1. they spin around, the lights taking them upward a bit, land back on their tables before other newsies remove them and the acrobatic gang is like “ok bet” and then swing out over the audience during the final chorus. or 2. they spin a bit, then with the tables still present (i think this is right tbh) run off of them to swing over the audience through most of the final chorus. when they settle back over the stage, the tables are removed from under them, and then for “guts and glory, front page story, i’m the king—” they shoot the FUCK up into the air, high speed spinning, albert is like in the goddamn rafters, “—of new york!” all the newsies in the air stick their legs out in a split and they stop spinning for the final frozen pose.

it’s off the wall crazy in that madhouse dude LMAO like it is. what. and the music is fantastic if you want to hear it and also the whole show from december!

I know TUTS newsies has been over for a bit, but I just saw a clear picture of Race during KONY, and I realized I wasn’t going insane. Watching it I saw Race’s arms were red and was so confused cause I couldn’t quite see, and later I realized they were probably scraped up from the fight, AND THEY WERE!
