me: Nina was shoved into way too complicated world unprepared. She keeps failing because she was fundamentally let down by the people in charge, who didn't recognize her unsuitability for her tasks, and she keeps believing it's her calling. zero reading comprehension fans: Oh no! How can you criticize her! She's doing her best! (☉。☉)! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ

assorted morena dekarios headcanons:
she possesses a sharp wit and is very perceptive, but is also incredibly kind and gentle
strong presence & really eclectic taste. she loves bright colors, extravagant patterns, collecting paintings, and all kinds of knick-knacks. her house is a reflection of her personality: warm, welcoming, and cluttered with ✨precision✨
has a penchant for big jewelry (especially necklaces)
gale deems her “unavoidable” because she has a way of seeing right through him, sometimes even going beyond motherly intuition (and because you’d spot her everywhere)
she always strongly supported gale’s individuality and wanted to give him every opportunity to grow into the person he wants to be
this often clashes cause she does worry about his safety constantly
on that note: would do absolutely everything for her son
her ex-husband had little interest in raising gale and deemed him too exhausting/high maintenance. morena eventually encouraged his decision to split, knowing his presence would do more harm than good
loves books but doesn’t bother to keep them in good condition (much to gale’s horror)
as he got older their dynamic grew to resemble a friendship, which is also why he refers to her by her first name
they banter a lot and it is very entertaining to watch/makes their similarities even more obvious
surprisingly strict whenever the situation calls for it. it’s a sudden 180. don’t mess with morena dekarios
claims she’s not interested in gossip, but is very curious nonetheless
possesses extensive mixology knowledge, but hates being drunk. life needs to be experienced to the fullest with all senses at all times
she’s a natural dancer despite not having a whole lot of practice
very welcoming to a romanced!tav and the rest of gale’s new friends. she has already been filled in by tara and withers. naturally, as long as her prince is happy she is as well
almost rivals gale in the duration of his crying during his own wedding. once he begins to read his vows she’s immediately brought to tears
actively tries to get to know a romanced!tav and makes sure they feel included in their family whenever possible, but will also respect if there’s no interest/some apprehension
she is very respectful of gale’s privacy and knows when to step back, albeit no less worried
she has dark, long, curly and thick hair that is hard to tame. (the envy of all her neighbors her age) she usually puts it up in a claw
tara has her own corner in morena’s sitting room, including her very own cozy armchair. no one else is allowed to use it.
#bg3#baldurs gate 3#morena dekarios#gale dekarios#bg3 headcanons#it speaks#will forever mourn that we didn't get to see these two interact#it would have been so nice to get the added context to gale's story since she is obviously incredibly important to him#(and actually integral to his character. but oh well)#contrary to popular belief i don't think she's that overbearing#nor ditzy. quite the opposite actually - this woman KNOWS#i also think that she and gale share many similarities. part of the reason why they get along so well

*just remembered that people are actually touched and moved by my art and look forward to seeing it and it's not just something that affects me and me alone which i throw into the internet's jaws sometimes resulting in Number Go Up* Huh.
#sorry I'm feeling weird lately. sometimes i get random bouts where i feel like if i just disappeared noone besides my family would notice#not in the sense of i want that to happen. quite the contrary actually.#feels like I'm moving through life like a ghost sometimes#it's almost jarring to see people care

I've been working on some other posts that delve into the rich families in FOP, so take some thoughts that've been eating at me out of context.
It is unfathomable to me how much better of a parent Dale is than both Remy’s parents combined.
Timmy wished for Remy to have more time to spend with his parents, and the universe decided that meant shipwrecking them together was the only possible way they wouldn't question spending time with their son. And according to Remy in "Remy Rides Again," that worked for 3 seconds before they ditched him despite all being shipwrecked on an island together, fighting for survival.
Dale just spends time with his son for free. He is paid $0 to do so... Yes, he's distracted and inattentive to him, but he lets Dev be near him. He gives him tasks... He explains things when Dev asks him questions. He greets his son when he comes home from being outside and asks how his afternoon was.
Wishing Dale had more time for his son is no guarantee good things would happen, but I don't think a shipwreck would've been required. He'd just... come out of his room.
Dale can absolutely be a better parent, and his neglect should not be excused, but comparatively... he is a functioning parent.
I think Remy's parents would pay someone to bury their son unmarked in the woods, but I do not think you could convince Dale to do that to Dev no matter how much you offered him. He's messed up, but he's not THAT messed up. That's his little guy! He's a Dimmadome...
Family history - and family future - is important to Dale in a way that it's straight-up not to the Buxaplentys, and that makes all the difference. Dale sends Dev to a private school (implied) and canonically makes donations to that school ("28 Puddings Later").
Like… Remy KNOWS his parents think he's a waste of time and space. They make this clear to him when they remind him he's not worth more than 2 minutes per day of their time. They can't even remember his name. At the end of "Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary," Remy was delighted his dad called him Liam. Because it's wrong, but it was better than nothing.
Remy is literally the reason his parents survived. He foraged for food for them while they counted the money that survived the shipwreck. He's 11... That should not have been his responsibility.
Dale is always calling Dev by name. He also built the au pairs to look after him (implied), he takes Dev to events, he remembered his birthday this year and made an attempt to do something nice even if he couldn't be there in person…
Dev appreciates his dad and tells us flat-out he thinks he's cool... That's why finding out his dad cared more about boots broke his heart.
Remy wouldn't have bat an eye because it wouldn't have surprised him that his parents care more about money. He makes it very clear that he was still wearing rags when his mom opened a hotel. She was too, but still... He was just out there wandering the beach with a ripped-up shirt and no shoes and all she thought about was money...
Holy flip, the Buxaplentys are so bad...
#Dale Dimmadome owner of Dimmadome Global#Dev Dimmadome owner of anguish#Fairly OddParents#Remy Buxaplenty#Remy Rides Again#FAIRIES!#Buxaplentys drive me insane. what is wrong with them. omg.#Like... I never thought about it because “Haha child misery cartoon; of course they're awful” but like...#Hashtag Dale would never. He's bad but he's bad in a different way. I hate that so many authors reduce the “new adult” genre into “young adult but explicitly horny” NO!!!! I want characters of a similar age as me with much more depth into the themes and ethics and morals and a more engaging style of writing!
#for real the writing really gets me because ya books are generally just too simple to read#I can’t stand it#not that I dislike ya quite the contrary#but I need my reading taste to grow with me#and reading ya doesn’t do that#tgdposts#tgdreads#booklr#bookblr

Siege and Storm- Chapter 14 (Leigh Bardugo)
I WANT THIS NIKOLAI BACK!!!
I want him to face choices that threaten his moral integrity, and I want him to cease being so pristine! I want him to pick the inhumane path from time to time and deal with both other people's changed perception of him, and his own conscience!
*whispers* He's so stupidly naïve I want to drag his face through gravel of reality.
What if the only way to make things right would be acting wrong? This is the kind of character, who should be made to face his limitations for further development, and either overcome them, or break really, really badly.
*whispers* I want to break him, I want to break him...
He held my gaze ... “But I’d be sorry to see you go.” Light manipulation attempt?

Off to new shores. I never really watched season 6 beyond, like, the first episode. Here's hoping Mary's behavior gets toned down a bit - she's more than doubled her bitch count over the course of only season 5. So far, she's been okay this episode, but she apparently thinks it eye-roll-worthy ludicrous that Edith, a woman of approximately 32 years at this point and chief editor of her own magazine for at least two years now, should have an own flat. While at the same time defending her own right to do "a man's job" of managing the estate on her own. Mary loves her some double standards.

I think a lot of analyses of Hawkeye Pierce miss that self-loathing and generally high self-esteem are not mutually exclusive. Hawkeye has moments of self-hatred, but he has a reason for them. He hates the army, he hates the war, and he is part of both of those things. The fact that it's against his will doesn't make it go away. Every time he talks about hating himself, he directly connects it to the war. He sums it up pretty well in Letters, "I'm also in weapons repair." In Preventative Medicine he says "I hate me and I hate you and I hate this whole life here." He hates what the war is turning him into.
#hawkeye would never think he's unlovable#there is nothing in the show to support that and quite a bit of evidence to the contrary#in some of his insightful moments he knows he's kind of a rat but he likes himself the way he is#mashposting

I want to grow romaine lettuce, cucumbers, red and yellow or white onion, Roma or other tomatoes, cilantro, dill, celery, carrots, red potatoes and russet potatoes so I can always make soups and salads and pico de gallo and salsa.
But I don't want to do the work. Because I am a lazy heifer.
If anyone wants to build a garden on my acre, I'll water it according to your instructions and occasionally pull weeds or whatever, and we can split the veggie haul.

Finally reading in the Lyrics books and why are we even still debating whether McLennon was real when Paul literally says he wrote a love song for John?
#mclennon#the beatles#at least that's what the german translation says so if they didn't fuck up...#anyway for the record and sort of related: i think i believe that there was something between them that was more than friendship#but i'd say it was platonic love...i mean that doesn't have to be weaker/less meaningful than romantic love#quite the contrary actually idk#(or that's just me being aroace...sorry i don't mean to be controversial in any case)

whenever people say that satine made a huge critical mistake/moral failure by not "compromising" with militant mandalorians i wonder if i was the only person who heard satine say the words "even extremists can be reasoned with" or "concordia is under independent rule and we need to talk to the governor" or "there was a time we weren't enemies, perhaps that time has come again" or "there will be no bloodshed" when she literally surrenders to death watch (a terrorist group btw) because she knows she's lost popular support to them
idk i think there's sort of a satine horseshoe theory going on where people who hate her and people who Nuance Like(TM) her both have selective amnesia about how compassionate, observant, and willing to compromise satine actually is so they can paint her as either a genocidal dictator or an overly-idealistic stubborn bitch #GirlBoss with good intentions and in the end they're 3 centimeters away from each other in terms of how rancid i find their opinion to be
#satine kryze#idk i don't think anyone who is talking about compromising and not being pacifist is doing so in good faith#it's all with the same uncharitable premise that satine forced people to accept her rule#when we see she believes her legitimacy comes only from the people's desire to be ruled by her#it's just a bunch of bad faith extrapolation from the dialogue of known antagonists#like it's a tv show there's nothing beyond what we see on the screen#there is 0 indication that before the death watch arc people wanted satine gone quite the contrary#and going 'well but we don't know what the people REALLY wanted' is silly because the people don't exist and do not have a will#sw
