(Just to let you guys know, I'm going to reblog this a couple times so more people can see it on their dash. I noticed that different chunks of my followers are active at different times. I might reblog it again in case I forget or need to add something.)

GENRE:

Fantasy; Superhero fiction

SETTING:

A fictional world in a fictional universe very similar to our own. Life was completely normal until a comet collided with a star called Blirrosia, forever altering Uzaria (now called the Isles of Blirrosia). The present story mainly takes place in the capital of Blirrosia--Rosia City.

SUMMARY:

Where is the line drawn between good and evil? Or, more importantly, who drew it? These are questions that plague Saffron Solis, a hero student at the top of her class, throughout the story. Since her parents are famous, retired heroes, she has an important legacy to uphold. It doesn't help that she and her family come from a long line of high-leveled aptitudes. Which she is very grateful for, don't get her wrong. Sometimes, the consequences of being the next generation's quintessential superhero can be too much to handle. Some of these include annoying date requests, or flowers that keep appearing inside her dorm? Weird. It's safe to say that Saffron's life is a house of cards built in the eye of a tornado. As if things couldn't get worse, the amount of supervillains in the city of have increased, and no one can explain why. Is there a bigger threat? And if so, will Saffron be able to fulfil her purpose before the pressure consumes her whole?

CHARACTERS (that I'm willing to reveal hehe):

SAFFRON SOLIS/AURA: She's our wonderful protagonist. Her aptitude is Aura Manipulation, and she's been training it for as long as she can remember. But it seems like there may be more to her aptitude than meets the eye.

LAI YARROW/CRIMSON DOVE: Saffron's best friend, but she's determined to be seen as more. Her aptitude is Pyrokinetics-- it's not basic! She'll be at the top one day side by side with her friends due to her own hard work, just you wait!

ZAIN BOLTON/(HERO NAME UNDECIDED): The third part to an unbreakable trio! Sure he joined a bit late, but who cares? His aptitude's Smoke Manipulation, and he doesn't really care about being a hero. Being close to his friends is enough for him, and he's always striving to be the best friend that he can be!

I asked @thewriteadviceforwriters (thanks again!!!) to design one of my characters for me, and it turned out wayyyyyy better than expected. There's a google form on the blog, so definitely check it out! The character designed for me is definitely my favorite, but he won't be revealed for a little bit.

After that one, I tried to AI generate the other characters. I'm still tinkering with it though, because some of them didn't come out as expected.

"I haven't seen you in a week, buddy! I miss you a lot, you know that?", says Lavertus as he pats my head. I shrug my elbows and sigh, "I do too… but you also said the same thing last time." He jumps backwards in surprise, with his muzzle open, and arms sticking down stiffly– somehow, me noticing his frequent absence is startling enough. I didn't mean to hurt him, but alas… he's now tapping his toes and whipping his tail sideways. "So… you see", he stutters, "I'm quite the busy lion, and working as a commander is very time consuming, ya know?"

Heart

"You know, man, this canine craze is wild. Like, they went bonkers out of nowhere!", says Leonidas, mumblings on his words with an earth shattering snarl. On the other side, the brunet lion leans on the doorframe, and sighs, as he pushes down his beanbrows– one scarred from top to cheekbone. While he crosses his arms and hides the huge claw tear on his bare chest, he groans, "I know, sweetheart.", Longtooth opens up his damaged eyelid, "Don't worry about it. We'll sort it out– together."

Sound

Meanwhile, the light dims from inside the forest, followed by rattling fronds. They diffuse penumbras all over the tall grass, even beyond our view, before its colors fade away in the distance. A mysterious sound howls out of the faraway depths– it grows louder as the moon emerges from the sky, cornering our eardrums in a sound barrier. Noises like these aren't uncommon, but what's happening right now feels off.

Utter

"What are you doing here..? Shouldn't you be elsewhere, Crominus?", Lavertus snarls. Crominus doesn't reply, doesn't even utter a single word, neither does he twitch a muscle. Instead, he seems too immersed in his mind, as if this situation didn't concern him much. Finally, he lowers his head, "Yes, I suppose…", he sighs, "Please excuse me. I shall now take my leave."

Heads Up Seven Up (Sorta....)

Since you changed by Find the Word to a Heads Up Seven Up, I think I am allowed to share some outline lines rather actual prose.

I'm in-between drafts 2 and 3 right now and I had to make an outline to figure out how much time was passing between each scene. My WIP had about as much concept of time as my ADHD ass has irl.

So here are seven lines of the best part of the outline:

Deverticus’ Army Camp

It takes a foot traveller seven days to cross the pass. They started two and a half days in. The camp is half a day from the Gap, meaning there are four days on foot between the two points. If the average person travels 15 miles in a day, 15x4 makes 60 miles. A high endurance horse can cover 100 miles in a day.

Author Ask Tag Game

Thank you @rickie-the-storyteller for tagging me! Using The Bird Book to answer these questions even though I've barely dug into it yet.

What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?

There's a lot going on here and my main characters are teenagers (which I never do because I don't really like writing kids). They are learning and growing every day, but if I could name one thing I want people to get from this story it would be the value of friendship, community, and accepting that some things are the way they are for a reason. I want it to be a coming-of-age story, but something that speaks more to me and my community.

2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?

Oh yes. There are tons of references to black culture and life and it's really a love letter to my childhood and my culture. This won't be the last time I say that exact line. The story is low fantasy so many elements of our world are present.

3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, and help readers grow as a person?

My MC is a teenage boy named Johnny. Johnny is simple. Johnny wants a girlfriend. That is literally it. He is chasing after a girl. BUT besides that, there's a lot going into it and I want people to see themselves in Johnny. When they read it, I want them to be reminded of the stupid stuff they did as teens with their friends.

4. How many chapters is your story going to have?

Not sure. It may be around 25 chapters? I haven't worked out any goals for this yet.

5. Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

This is original content. I don't know how it will be put out into the world, but I will of course post snippets and fun stuff about it here, just like I did with TLBH.

6. When and why did you start writing?

I have been writing since forever. I've always just loved stories and loved telling them even more. I only got more serious about it when I felt like I couldn't find the exact stories I wanted. Then, I realized I could just make those stories. And then, I realized I could just keep making stories.

7. Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers on Tumblr do you follow?

Have fun with it! Do what feels right to you. It's your story, so you are what matters at the end of the day. Don't worry about who will read it. Just write something that you want to read.

Author Ask Tag Game

@axl-ul put up an open tag for this and I love these questions so I'm going to do it. Make sure to go read their answers because they were truly beautiful and inspiring <3333 Here's the linky.

And I will of course, use The Wolfena to answer these since it's my. most developed WIP.

What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it? I'm not into preachy stories, but The Wolfena has a very blatant anti-slavery, pro-autonomy message woven into it. Autonomy is all. This story is about finding your autonomy even in situations where you feel trapped or have no control over the world around you. I didn't choose it at all, but I once spoke to a highly accomplished author (sadly it was so long ago and I actually disliked the conversation a lot at the time, so I don't have her name). But she basically asked me "Why doesn't your book address slavery?" And I was so annoyed, because I was working on a different book that had little to do with the subject. But that question festered in my mind, and a few years later The Wolfena were born.

What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)? I've said this before, but The Hundred tv show and Ammonite by Nicola Griffith were highly formative to writing The Wolfena. I drew a huge amount of inspiration from all of the New England winters I've survived, as all of the characters grew up in a total ice-age. I really tried to capture both the wonder of spring and the barren hopelessness of winter.

What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person? Naxia wants to free all of the enslaved people in her nation even if she dies trying; Lariette just wants to free herself; Jimian wants to learn to be human again. I wouldn't say I'm trying to achieve anything with them, as they were all strong muses who guided me through the story, at times with minimal effort on my part. But, I do hope they help others understand that we are full of far more strength than we could ever imagine.

How many chapters is your story going to have? This is my shame. The Wolfena has a whopping 70+ chapters.

Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it? The Wolfena is a totally original story, at least I hope, hehe. My ultimate goal is to traditionally publish it, but we'll see where all the pieces fall.

When and why did you start writing? (Assuming this is in regards only to The Wolfena) I think I started writing this story somewhere around 2016? I had to write it to address that festering question about slavery, and also to work through my feelings about womanhood and gender as I became an adult.

Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow? Well, I used up a lot of typing energy on these questions, so you can find engagement and encouragement over on Fighting For Writing <3

I found this submission incredibly fascinating, and the character's description and short backstory provided by Quinn made me genuinely fall in love with this character. Thank you for submitting your character! Your character is truly amazing, and I have decided to choose you as the first.

I made every effort to create this character as authentic as I could, and I even made some manual adjustments to their hair color, skin tone, and the (hopeful) presence of a Glasgow scar. I would like to once again express my gratitude to Quinn for their contribution.
