Idk if literally anyone else thinks about this, but I’m also always thinking about Harry being all sad because people don’t really see him when they look at him, they see the bwl or his parents
And yeah there’s a ton of people who do see Harry as just the bwl, but like,, outside of like,, the order and a couple of others, most people probably aren’t seeing Harry’s parents in him, like Lily and James weren’t famous till they died (outside of James being the sole heir to an old line, although it does raise the question of if people took issue with him marrying Lily since she was a muggleborn, anyways how many people would care that much about James being the last Potter outside of other old family lines?) so outside of the people they personally interacted with, most probably didn’t pay that much attention to them, whereas Harry is hella famous and has been that way for most of his life
Idk if I can actually articulate my point but anyways once again thinking about a lot of people from the marauders generation ending up in the hp generation, and Harry’s all worried about no one caring about him anymore because he thinks most people only care about him as a replacement for his parents, but a lot of the people from his generation are only excited to meet them because they’re Harry’s parents
Idk it’s also funny to me to think about it being like still in the middle of the war and the order really caring about Lily and James being back and feeling more confident, and outside of like Snape, most of the death eaters and Voldemort aren’t fully sure who they’re looking at for a few seconds, like they’ve just been so focused on Harry for so long, only caring about them when that prophecy came out
(and considering it had to have come out around when Harry was born because due dates are so fickle and he was 1 when they were killed, it had to be max a year till they were found, not too long in the grand scheme of things)
Also I’m imagining that this is more teenage James and Lily, so it doesn’t help that they don’t look exactly how they did before dying
(My reasoning for most death eaters not caring about James and Lily before the prophecy is that I believe the theory that most order members weren’t public knowledge, they didn’t have to go into hiding until the prophecy was made (if DE’s cared about them, no way they wouldn’t have been in a protected house from the start), we don’t really know what defying Voldemort means so it could’ve been anything, doesn’t necessarily mean it was in a way Voldemort would’ve cared about till he sat down to figure out which family the prophecy could be about and was like “oh wait”, and some other reasons that make sense only to me and idk how to word them)
(Like I really think they’d be in the same amount of being famous as Tonks would be pre-prophecy, she’s an order member, she’s an auror like James who probably doesn’t take shit from all those death eaters who should’ve been in Azkaban and are now living normal lives, and she has a dramatic family history, her mom was completely disowned from a very well known family for marrying her dad, when they didn’t even completely disown Sirius!! And then she had a baby with a known werewolf, yet there’s not ever really a sense that she’s that famous or that death eaters care that much about her)

Heyyy I absolutely loooove your metas and fics and istg I've read all of them and I constantly keep reading them. Big fan, maam! Also I have a question, how do you think Ginny's family, especially each of her overprotective brothers reacted when they got to know that Harry and Ginny dated? And then broke up and the again got back together?
Thank you so so much for reading (and re-reading!!!!) all of my stuff, you absolute legend 💗💖💘
You will be unsurprised to hear that I've thought about this one a lot. The short version is: I'm Team The Weasleys Always Sort Of Knew Something Was Going On and Were Supportive (if a bit Amused). The longer version is below the cut!
(Also someone else kindly sent an ask about this a while ago, about Molly and Arthur knowing about the break-up, and I completely forgot to post my reply to that, so very sorry to that anon, and hope the too-long discussion of this Q under the cut makes up for it!)
Tumblr media
I think there's a lot of evidence that throughout the series at least some of the Weasleys speculated something was going on or would one day go on between Harry and Ginny (especially the observant ones - Bill, Molly, Arthur, maybe even the twins, to some extent):
Ginny's historic crush on Harry in CoS is about as subtle as a brick through the window, visible both at the Burrow and at school with the Valentine, which the twins and Ron all know about (and rinse Harry for)
Ginny's romantic life is canonically the subject of some sibling speculation (see Fred and George at WWW in HBP), as are the love lives of all the siblings bar Charlie and the twins (Bill, Percy, Ron all get the sibling side-eye)
Starting in Christmas in OotP Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny begin to hang out a lot that Christmas as a foursome in ways that might invite some idle speculation about the pairings within…
By HBP, Harry does spend both the summer and Christmas holidays of 1996 either in cahoots with Ginny to tease Ron or staring at her or getting goosebumps whenever she got physically close to him (have you seen a teenage boy with a crush? Also criminally unsubtle)
Tumblr media
When Harry and Ginny get together in HBP, I don't think Ginny would ever tell her parents or any brothers other than Ron that she's started dating Harry. But there may well have been clues her family might pick up on:
After Bill's attack by Greyback, Bill remains in the Hospital Wing. It's implied that Molly, Arthur and Fleur stay either in the castle or in Hogsmeade in the days between the attack on the Astronomy Tower and Dumbledore's funeral. Harry and Ginny are together at this point, spending all their time together with Ron and Hermione. Obviously Fleur, Molly and Arthur would be preoccupied with Bill's recovery, but I do think it would be noticeable that the trio had become a four, and that Harry and Ginny seemed much closer than they were previously - Fleur in particular I think might notice, given her affection for Harry, and likely pass on her speculation to Bill (hi sorry you got savaged by a werewolf but guess who your sister is smashing)
Many of the teachers close to Molly and Arthur (such as McGonagall and Hagrid) likely knew about Harry and Ginny (if Snape and Slughorn knew, the goodies knew too, I reckon). They would have had occasion to mention it to the family at least in passing in that interim period between the attack and the funeral (my money is on Hagrid)
At the funeral itself, Harry and Ginny sit together in public and interact quite intimately before the break up takes place (Ginny whispering in his ear, nudging him, then obviously staying sat alone together after the funeral is over). All her family are in attendance, and remain close by when the break-up happens, and likely travel back to London altogether (though I don't think they would necessarily witness the breakup or notice it happening in the moment). I think it would be clear that there was something going on between Harry and Ginny, even if it wasn't at all clear what that was
Tumblr media
In DH, you have quite a few moments where there are even more little hints that Harry and Ginny was a bit of an open secret among the Weasleys:
In DH, Ron makes that comment about Ginny and the tattoo as they strip off in the seven Potters scene, in front of his dad, Bill, Fleur and the twins (Ginny's seen Harry shirtless because they're just very good pals, don't worry about it!)
Ok this one is a bit galaxy-brain take sleuthing on my part but during the wedding prep Molly is deliberately trying to separate the trio and convince them not to leave. She allocates the tasks and assigns them to combinations of people very deliberately. The evening after Molly corners Harry and tries to get him not to leave, she makes Harry and Ginny set the dinner table alone in the kitchen. Now, do we think Molly Weasley, Mastermind in Chief, might have put Harry and Ginny on a task together as she tries to persuade Harry not to go on the hunt... is this Molly pulling out the big guns...
At the wedding, Ginny winks at Harry in front of her entire assembled family when Muriel says she's showing too much boob (icon alert). And then Harry spends most of the reception leaning against a pillar staring at Ginny in front of her entire family. I mean, lads. You're killing me
When the DA summon the Order before the Battle in the Room of Requirement, Ginny is my petty queen has that infamous interaction with Cho over the diadem in front of the twins, showing she is giving precisely zero shits at this point
Harry and Ginny have that wordless interaction where Harry refuses to support her staying behind to fight in the battle, in front of all her family, where she at least appears to agree to go home only because Harry has said so, taking his direction over that of her family's. (I mean, we all know Ginny then tries to sneak off to fight because she's not only a petty queen but also a sneaky one but... still significant)
The big one for me is Ginny's reaction to Harry's death. She screams the loudest out of McGonagall, Hermione and Ron when she sees his body, in front of all the Weasleys and all combatants. I'm not saying this grieving war-ravaged family were thinking like huh weird that Ginny's so sad rn given the situation at hand, but I do think it was quite a telling moment for what Harry and Ginny had become by this point in the narrative
Tumblr media
All this is to say I think many of the Weasleys might have suspected something was going on, but didn't know the full story, and have the discretion not to blame Harry for Ginny’s misery nor to pry too much after the breakup, especially when Ginny comes home from school heartbroken (which is partly why I had them trying to cheer Gin up somewhat ambiguously in think / hope - her parents can see she's extremely sad, they aren't entirely sure about why or about of the details, but I think they're attentive, loving parents who aren't stupid and might have their suspicions).
Overall, then, when Harry and Ginny get back together after the war, I think the family both sort-of suspect there's been this thing coming on between them for a while, and, while they'd perhaps be surprised by the extent of it (there is literally no chill way to say 'hey I thought of your sister as I died!'), I think Molly, Arthur and the brothers would just be happy for them, with a few jokes and 👀 comments here and there. I don’t think they’d be angry at Harry for the breakup or sincerely over-protective and territorial over Ginny. They love Harry like a brother, they'd love the idea of him being formally part of the family one day, and they trust him implicitly.
Honestly, I think it makes sense that Ron was the one who would have by far the most extreme reaction to the breakup in particular, and even his response is reasonably mature. It's worth noting that it's actually only Ron and the twins that ever openly actually discuss and try to pry/interfere in Ginny's romantic life - the twins in HBP to take the piss a bit (in a slightly slut-shamey way - 'you're going through boyfriends a bit fast, aren't you?'), and Ron both during in the infamous fight over the Dean kiss and during his angry conversations with Harry post break-up. I think this is peak big-brother-to-Ginny-but-actually-little-brother-to-everyone-else energy, playing up overprotective. I don't think Bill, being eleven years older than Gin would at any point be that interested in policing Ginny's romantic life, I think Charlie truly would notice very little and care even less. Percy's got bigger fish to fry and other issues to wrangle with after the war, not to mention a whole relationship with both Ginny and Harry to mend. I think, at most, Harry and Ginny get a bit of teasing from her brothers but that's about it (my dumb headcanon is the first time they hear Harry call Ginny 'Gin' they're like... excuse me? Who the fuck is that?) I think actually protective big brother energy, from the likes of Bill, would mean worrying about the two of them in terms of public media scrutiny, which must be relentless, and about their long-term safety from reprisal attacks more than anything else.
I also think it’s clear that Harry really doesn’t care all that much what the rest of the Weasleys think lol, and certainly doesn't fear them. He does fear the loss of Ron's friendship in HBP (wrongly, because Ron is an OG Hinny shipper), but that’s a fear specifically about Ron’s reaction, not that of his wider family. In DH, Harry’s fully about to go hold Ginny for a bit in front of Molly with zero qualms, and the two of them hold hands in the vicinity of Order members and family members twice (once entering the hospital wing in HBP, and once at the Burrow) - not an especially declaratory gesture, but one that suggests they don’t hugely fear discovery. I think both of them would accept the need to be braced for mockery but basically trust the family not to be dicks about it. The important thing to remember is that canonically Ginny Weasley can and will hex you if you step out of line

My psychology professor: People usually remember something that happened in general but not verbatim. You probably remember the plot to the first Harry Potter book but who here would remember the first line?
Me: Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.
My psychology professor: Okay. You aren't allowed to talk in class anymore.

SIX:
"Good luck tonight, Malfoy; you'll need it."
The Slytherin Common Room shimmered with emerald hues, each corner alive with excitement as the house prepared for the first Quidditch match of the school year.
Allie made her way into the common room; she was on a mission, driven by the urgency to reach the Great Hall before the final remnants of breakfast slipped away.
The thought of Theo and Blaise devouring everything in sight spurred her on; she knew that if she didn't hurry, she'd be left with nothing but empty plates that once held her favorite morning feast.
The enticing aroma of warm pastries and freshly brewed tea beckoned her, and she couldn't afford to miss a single moment of it.
As Allie descended the dormitory steps and headed towards the door, an unforeseen force abruptly stopped her.
"Hey, where were you yesterday?" Mattheo inquired, a glimmer of understanding dancing in his eyes while Allie turned to him, momentarily caught off guard.
"Yesterday? I was out with Harry... Why?" Allie inquired, her gaze flickering to Jax, who mirrored her concern.
Mattheo sensed the weight of the moment, realizing that perhaps the question had been ill-timed.
With a swift change in his demeanor, he interjected, "Oh, it was nothing really. I was hoping to find you. I was going to ask if you wanted to study."
With a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes, he shook his head, seemingly dispelling the very truth he had conjured.
"Oh! Ah, I understand. I'm sorry," she replied, a hint of regret in her voice as she shrugged, the weight of her distractions evident.
"We can tonight after the game?" Allie suggested with a warm smile, and as he nodded, she smiled before she turned and left the common room.
Mattheo followed closely behind her as she made her way to the hall.
As her feet moved, her heart fluttered with excitement, and as she entered the Great Hall.
The energy buzzed around the room, filled with excitement as students lined the space, their enthusiastic chatter filling the air.
"I've got ten galleons on Gryffindor, yeah," A voice rang out as she entered; it was a student in a vibrant yellow robe exclaiming with enthusiasm.
She couldn't help but feel the urge to respond to the comment but decided against it and instead confidently made her way to the Slytherin Table, taking her usual spot next to Jax.
Mattheo had been there for once, and she had his full attention; he couldn't look away.
It was as if she had a magnetic pull on him, drawing him in with every glance.
"Just so you know, everyone in school is betting against us." Allie's words flowed effortlessly as she turned her gaze toward Blaise, the team's talented chaser. He rolled his eyes. "They can go ahead and do whatever they want."
When it came to Quidditch, Allie had always been a huge fan. She grew up enthusiastically watching all of the Quidditch Cups on television, either with her parents if they were available or with her keeper.
She couldn't take her eyes off the television. She had a deep affection for the Holyhead Harpies, and she looked up to Gwenog Jones, the team's captain, despite the fact that Allie herself needed to improve in coordination.
At one point, Allie made an effort to play fair, but the instant a bludger hit her, she decided that she had had enough of Quidditch and no longer wanted to participate.
She decided to sit in the stands and watch the game unfold in front of her.
Allie allowed herself to be totally present once more, her attention moving away from her thoughts as she turned her head in the direction of the entrance.
Her gaze fixed on Draco as he gracefully entered through the tall double doors.
"Well! I'll catch up with you all later," she said with a wave.
Getting up from the table, she clutched her books tightly. She was making her way towards the exit when suddenly a voice called out from behind her.
"Hesper, please wait." The sight of a boy with perfectly messy curls and enticing eyes made her spin around, her heart racing.
Allie gently placed her books beside her and asked, "Yes?"
She couldn't help but gaze up at him, their eyes locking for a brief moment before she could not tear her gaze away from his captivating figure.
She sensed his deep contemplation.
"I think you should stay in tonight," he said hesitantly.
Allie gave him a puzzled expression and clutched her book to her chest as if seeking solace from its pages.
"And why is that, Riddle?" she asked, feeling quite unsure.
For a moment, Mattheo hesitated, "I'm just not so sure that going to the game is a great idea."
She looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
"What do you mean?" Allie inquired, her tone becoming more subdued in an effort to mask her frustration.
Despite his attempts to clarify his thoughts, he found himself compelled to adopt a mysterious demeanor.
"Okay... Unless you are able to present a convincing argument against it, I will be going, and if this is about studying, I told you we would after the game!" Allie continued, despite Mattheo standing there with a look that conveyed a sense of pleading.
He let a feeling of complete and utter failure wash over him as Allie quickly turned around and made her way out of the Great Hall with an influx of energy.
Mattheo was left standing there alone, his heart heavy.
Despite his desire to do so, he was careful not to reveal too much about the Death Eaters' efforts.
He struggled internally, torn between his moral convictions and his destiny.
Mattheo was firmly committed to Allie's safety and well-being and prepared to go to any lengths to ensure her safety.
He made his way back to the table, trying hard to compose himself. If his feelings for her put his father's plan in jeopardy, there were far too many potential outcomes, each more concerning than the last.
He could not ignore the disapproving looks his classmates gave him as he took his seat. The frustration he felt was intense enough to ignite his blood.
His ears picked up on bits of whispered discussions that were going on around him, but the content of those conversations was of little significance to him.
"What did you say to her?" Mattheo's heart pounded as a voice echoed from his side. Draco's face twisted with anger.
"Hesper," he repeated, nodding his head in the direction of where they were standing.
"What did you want from her?" Draco pressed his position once more, becoming more defensive as he did so.
Mattheo struggled to decide whether to answer the question honestly or in a cocky, sarcastic manner.
"Oh, nothing. I was expressing my excitement; she and I are studying later," he said, emphasizing the word "studying."
It was clear that he was being dishonest, but the satisfaction of seeing Draco's anger grow more apparent made it all worthwhile.
The idea that Allie and Mattheo were "studying" together was not something Malfoy would ever consider.
Draco rolled his eyes in response, giving the impression that he was likely attempting to elicit a response from him through his deception. He was fully aware that she was going to attend the game; she would never miss the first game of the year, especially not the one versus Gryffindor.
Draco muttered something quietly as he turned back to Blaise, clearly not finding the situation amusing.
"He's just trying to get a reaction out of you, mate," Blaise observed, glancing at Draco.
Mattheo couldn't help but wear a mischievous grin as he stood up from the table.
"Good luck tonight, Malfoy; you'll need it," he murmured with an air of self-assurance as if he were in possession of a hidden advantage.
However, Draco ignored him, his teeth clenched.
***
The students crowded around the pitch, their excitement causing a buzz throughout the stands. Various brilliant tones of red and green adorned the platforms, creating a festive atmosphere.
Everyone in the school appeared to be present, and not a single spot remained empty.
"Place your bets, place your bets," the Weasley twins shouted, their voices carrying through the crowd as they enthusiastically collected wagers from the different houses, fueling the excitement of the impending competition.
It was a convenient method for the Weasleys to earn a few sickles.
Gryffindor had been receiving more bets, even though they rarely came out victorious against the green team.
While the twins were fervently voicing their opinions to the crowd of students, Allie approached them and asked them what they thought.
"You know, boys, we have this in the bag," she said in a coy tone.
"Oh yeah, we'll see about that, Hesper," they remarked with a sly smirk on their faces as they gently shook the red bucket in her direction.
Allie couldn't help but roll her eyes. Not only did she know that Zabini, Nott, and Malfoy were on their team, but she also knew that Gryffindor was without Oliver Wood this year, so she knew that the upcoming game would be pretty exciting.
She made her way to her seat; her mind couldn't help but wander back to the conversation she had with Mattheo earlier that day.
She tried her best to banish the thought, but it stubbornly refused to leave her mind.
She felt an overwhelming sense of unease as she took a deep breath; she was just ready to immerse herself in the upcoming game. Jax made eye contact, and she stood up when she noticed him among the students.
"You saved me a spot," Jax noted, taking a seat beside Allie.
"No, but by some fortunate mistake, there was an empty space," Allie replied charmingly as she laughed and moved over to the other side of the bench.
"Oh yeah, I'm sure," he responded, underscoring his unwavering belief.
They locked eyes, exchanging a knowing smile for a brief period before she asked, "So, did you place any bets today?" She couldn't help but wonder if the Weasleys had successfully persuaded him to make any wagers.
"Nah, I'm not really into placing bets, and I'm uncertain about who to support in this close game," Jax remarked, gazing out onto the pitch as he awaited the commencement of the match.
Madam Hooch made her entrance onto the field with an air of elegance, clad in her iconic black and white referee attire. She stood out, her figure catching the eye amidst a crowd of students and players donning red and green uniforms.
As she held the quaffle in one hand, she gracefully brought a whistle up to her mouth, and with a triumphant cry, she declared, "Let the game begin!"
She blew the whistle and sent the ball soaring into the air.
The teams immediately clashed, their vivid colors blending in a captivating spectacle.
They glided through the sky with astonishing swiftness and grace, executing each maneuver with flawless precision. Both teams fiercely contested the quaffle, valiantly defending their goals and unleashing formidable assaults.
The players were darting back and forth with lightning speed, their movements a blur of colors that blended and intertwined, making it nearly impossible for anyone to keep up with the game.
The crowd erupted with an overwhelming display of cheers and roars as the two skilled Seekers pursued the elusive golden Snitch. They honed their senses as they meticulously tracked its every movement.
While ever-complex and somewhat challenging to follow due to all the simultaneous action, Quidditch was an exhilarating game that always proved captivating.
Harry's eyes lit up as he spotted the Snitch, his broom slicing through the air with precision. Draco swiftly pursued Harry, mirroring his every move in the sky.
"Slytherin takes the lead!" The announcer's voice reverberated through the microphone, brimming with infectious excitement and enthusiasm.
The speed with which the players flew across the field made it difficult to follow the match.
The players' uniforms' vivid green and striking red colors blended seamlessly, forming a captivating blur.
It seemed as though Slytherin was on fire, scoring goal after goal while the Keepers struggled to keep up.
On the other hand, Gryffindor had a brief moment in the lead before things took a turn.
The beaters and chasers gracefully glided through the pitch, their focus unwavering as they tried to rack up points and skillfully defend against any quaffle passes.
The game was growing more intense, and it was becoming more challenging for anyone to stay focused as a powerful gust of wind swept through the area.
The game seemed to pause suddenly.
The players bravely battled against the unyielding force, their determination unwavering as they clung to their brooms.
Some of the professors' stances changed, and a sense of unease settled among everyone, hinting at an underlying issue.
The clouds underwent a dramatic change, going from sparkling white to a very gloomy shade of gray.
As she recalled Mattheo's warning to be on the lookout for such a change, Allie's memory jogged.
Uncertain about what to do, she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.
In the distance, she could hear people shouting from both sides. There was a frenzy among the students, and all the professors suddenly brandished their wands.
Allie leaped down from the stands; she immediately went into action, taking her wand with her, ready to go. It was a thrilling battle.
"Alsephina!" Jax exclaimed as he guided her down the wooden bleacher steps.
He was determined to prevent her from becoming disoriented in the thronging crowd.
She appeared to have some invisible power, attracting everyone's attention. The students panicked and began to cast spells with great force, hoping that they would inflict pain and suffering on their targets so that they could escape.
As the students' spells spread throughout the field, they witnessed the unfolding of the turmoil and became overwhelmed with worry.
Several professors quickly led some of the children to a secure location, where they gathered and immediately took action.
In a different area, another group of highly skilled witches and wizards was releasing their arsenal of charms and hexes, which effectively rendered the Death Eaters unable to retaliate.
The scene was filled with chaos and destruction.
Jax stood nearby, watching Alsephina closely as she attempted to find safety beneath the stands. As he fought bravely against the attackers, he was perplexed as to why they appeared to be particularly interested in her.
Allie's attention turned to Harry, whom she spotted in the distance amidst the treacherous battle and flurry of action. His broom lay in ruins next to him, indicating the intensity of the fight.
His lifeless form sprawled across the pitch, leaving her in a state of uncertainty and concern. She glanced over to find Jax gazing in the opposite direction, valiantly protecting their surroundings.
In that fleeting moment, she felt a surge of determination and made the impulsive decision to dash onto the field, ensuring Harry's well-being and potentially guiding him to a place of refuge.
Allie's feet propelled her forward, and the sound of Jax's voice echoed in her ears as he desperately called out to her. The speed of her feet caused a gentle breeze to caress her face.
If anyone dared to harm Allie, Jax would never be able to reach her in time to protect her. She was already out of reach, like a fleeting figure in the distance.
The commotion surrounding them drowned out Jax's anguished plea for her.
The countless events unfolded simultaneously, and the cacophony of noise became overwhelming.
Allie finally reached Harry; her hand gently landed on his chest.
She watched it rise and fall, feeling a wave of relief wash over her as she realized he was still alive.
At the exact moment, she noticed the sound of someone's tongue clicking behind her, and an involuntary shudder rocked her body.
The soft, disapproving sound echoed in her ears as she slowly lifted her gaze from Harry's unconscious form.
Her eyes met the unmistakable sight of a Death Eater with long, flowing blond hair. Not only was he a loyal servant of Voldemort, but he was also responsible for the tragic demise of her parents, Yaxley.
She swiftly rose from the ground, clutching her wand tightly by her side, and hastily made her escape in the opposite direction.
He was aiming his wand directly at her, and she could sense the curses flying dangerously close to her ears.
Allie faltered as the dark wizard unleashed a deafening roar, casting a powerful spell that sent her crashing to the ground.
She fell to the hard earth, and Yaxley approached her commandingly, his figure casting a shadow over her. Her feeble attempts to retreat, to escape from the scene, proved ineffective as she found herself immobilized.
She watched as Jax fought his way toward her, pushing and sprinting through the chaos. Draco was also making strides toward her, and she wasn't sure whether he intended to aid her or Yaxley.
As he aimed his wand straight at her chest, her body froze in sheer terror.
The Death Eater uttered a repugnant phrase, one that she had never heard before, and a crimson glow emanated from his wand as the curse swept over the board in the direction of Allie.
She rolled as quickly as possible, attempting to duck and get out of the way, but she was too slow. The red spark remained with her, surging forward and consuming her left arm.

Sleep, My Love
Tumblr media
As they file out of the Great Hall behind their Heads of House, someone catches Minerva’s elbow.
It’s Leander, crouched over so the green on his robes doesn’t stick out. “Good on you,” he whispers. “Gryffindor!”
“Not the same House,” she answers, her throat tight.
“Och, who cares?” He smiles so wide his nose crinkles, slipping his arm more firmly through hers. “You’re my wee thistle no matter what colour you’re in.”
“Wee thistle? I’m hardly wee.” Gets a laugh out of her anyway. “And not yours!”
“Yes, ye are.” The kiss he plants on her cheek feels more like the flutter of eyelashes, and just as fast. “My wee thistle friend. Every snake needs a lion, don’t they? You can be mine.”
“I’d say you’re already a lion.” He’d told her what his name meant on the train, but Minerva already knew. She’d studied Greek with her father. Why hadn’t he sorted into Gryffindor, too? Why Slytherin, when he was named after a lion? When he’s the most golden thing she’s ever seen?
Leander raises his eyebrows. “We’re a perfect pair, then, aren’t we?”
✨✨✨
“A tall, black-haired witch in emerald-green robes stood there. She had a very stern face and Harry’s first thought was that this was not someone to cross.” –Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Why does Minerva McGonagall always wear green?
Well, why do you think? Because of Love.

Who says Harry isn’t powerful?
Lily’s letter to Sirius mentioned Harry zooming around on his toy broomstick at a year old. I’d say displaying magic at that age is impressive. Plus going on to become the youngest Seeker in a century.
Killing the Basilisk. At age 12! With help from Fawkes, but still! Godric Gryffindor level of combat skills.
Conjuring a stag Patronus at age 13 to fend off a hundred Dementors, when most adult wizards couldn’t even cast an incorporeal one. His ability caused quite an uproar at the Wizengamot later on.
Surviving and WINNING the Triwizard Tournament at age 14. Had help here and there, yes, but Harry walked onto each battlefield alone.
Using Protego masterfully by age 15 that it reflected Snape’s Legilimens spell right back at him. Casting a Shield Charm powerful enough to expand and fill the Great Hall. Many adult wizards have trouble casting a sufficient Protego.
Leading Dumbledore’s Army and improving their DADA skills to significantly above average. Fighting courageously and sustaining the least physical damage at the Department of Mysteries.
Succesfully casting Imperio and completely resisting it. Successfully casting Crucio on his third attempt. Unforgivable curses take powerful magic, said Snape.
And finally, Hogwarts studies - yeah, maybe not top in nearly every subject like Hermione, but getting all Es on exams he wasn’t interrupted during and an O in DADA, outperforming his best friend Ron who grew up in a pure-blood wizarding household. Harry was raised by Muggles. Not the same starting point, and yet Harry ended up slightly surpassing Ron academically with that Outstanding score.
Recognized powerful characters - Marauders generation, certain Death Eaters, the professors - they are at least 20 years Harry’s senior. Being defeated by them does not, at all, make him mediocre. I’m sure that by his 30s, he’d have greatly increased in magical aptitude and solidified his status as one of the most powerful wizards of his generation.

Hi! There’s a fan fiction I read, I believe it was on AO3, though don’t quote me on that. Postwar, married Dramione, and they have a few kids. Lucius has just gotten out of prison or something and DHr were wary of introducing the kids to him, but he turned out to be a pretty great grandpa. I do remember that he wanted to watch his grandkids play quidditch but the league wouldn’t let him, so he built a pitch at the manor and started his own league. I remember at the end *spoiler alert* that he had passed and everyone was old and Narcissa or Draco gave a eulogy about how great he was, how much he was loved, etc. Does this ring a bell at all?
This series:
A Little More Alive, Far Less Lost by MGL_Dramione_Lover - M, 22 chapters - After Draco’s post-war trial, he finds himself attending his 8th year at Hogwarts with Hermione. As remorse and acceptance replace anger and hate, the old enemies begin a friendship that sparks into much more than they ever hoped for. Hermione’s goal as Head Girl is to banish old prejudices and unite the school while Draco’s only wish is to become a man worthy of her love.
Life Adapted by MGL_Dramione_Lover - M, 15 chapters - Sequel to A Little More Alive, Far Less LostSoul-bound Draco and Hermione are living a semi-perfect life with their growing family. At least it was perfect until the one man with the power to ruin everything snakes his way back into existence. Over nine years after the end of the war, Lucius Malfoy is released from prison to a world that has changed without him. The only thing that has stayed the same is the love of his wife.

WIP of a Harry Potter x Maxiel one-shot that has somehow escaped the uni essay stress which has sadly displaced all the space in my mind usually given to writing 🥲🥲
-
"Are you -" are you well? Is what Max wanted to ask. Are you eating, are you sleeping?
It feels stupid, though, to ask such things in war. Like the shadow of childhood stretching into the present.
Daniel opens his eyes, gaze finding Max. The action is excruciatingly slow, as if the movement alone is exhausting.
"Am I what, Maxy?" He says. He tries for a smile, the facsimile paling to the memories that linger in Max's dreams.
"Are you sure about this?" Max forces out. Daniel huffs something near a laugh, kicking back off the wall he'd been leaning on.
