DC X DP Prompt - To Batman

Maddie and Jack Fenton died. It was an accident, really. Jack forgot to change the filter on the portal and it exploded, taking out the whole Fenton building and half the block. Thankfully it was in the middle of the day on a Wednesday, so not many people were home. Jack and Maddie died instantly as did 3 of the 5 other casualties. 1 person died in hospital, and the single person who survived the explosion (a woman going on a jog nearby) fell into a coma with no signs of waking.

Jazz, having recently turned 18, escaped the foster system by the skin of her teeth. Instead she got financial assistance, and an apartment paid for by the government. Despite her best efforts, she was deemed incapable of taking care of Danny, only 15 at the time. He ended up in Vlad's care. As his godfather, the duty naturally fell to him, and with no way to prove all of his misdoings, Danny couldn't fight it. He tried, of course, but Vlad won. He got what he wanted.

Vlad wasted no time ruining Danny's life.

Things he did:

Immediately slapped an inhibitor bracelet on him. It's an improved version that tracks him, and shocks him on command. Having died by electricity, there was no better way to keep Danny docile.

Pulled Danny out of school under the pretence Danny himself insisted on it. That most days, the boy could hardly get out of bed.

Took any means to contact his friends and sister, thus completely isolating him.

Forced him to be his son, including legally changing his name from Daniel Fenton to Daniel Masters.

Tortured him. Without Danny able to fight back, any time he would fall out of line Vlad would subject him to terrible punishments. This included electrocuting him until he passed out, strapping him down and threatening to vivisect him, not giving him any food for long periods of time, beat him up as Plasmius and stopping him from sleeping by electrocuting him every few seconds (enough of a zap not to hurt too much but to keep him awake).

Tucker, worried for Danny, managed to hack into Vlad's cameras. He couldn't get access to the visuals without risking Vlad catching on, but the audio was pretty incriminating as is. He knew local law enforcement wouldn't do anything. Not with Vlad able to overshadow them at any given moment. So he reached out to Batman.

Okay, maybe he couldn't get to Batman. Their systems were too good. But, Bruce Wayne definitely at least knew Batman, and he was easy to get in contact with. So, he sent Bruce Wayne an email, asking him to pass it along to Batman, with an attachment of particularly bad things Vlad did to Danny. Just audio, of course, but that should be enough to get him to investigate.

Bruce gets a lot of emails.

He has three accounts. One accessible to the public, through which he receives fan mail, threats, and claims of pregnancy, a work email, which is designated for Wayne Enterprises matters and nothing else, and a work email, for active cases and other Batman matters. They’re all increasingly secure, each one more protected than the previous. Which is to say, people who he doesn't give access, can't reach him by his work lines.

So it's a surprise when he receives an anonymous email through his Wayne Enterprises line one Tuesday morning that has no business being in his inbox. An hour later and he tracks it down to Amity Park Illinois, but no further. Whoever encrypted it certainly skilled, but he doubts they're any match for Oracle so he sends it over to her to look over.

In the meantime he checks it for traps. There's a few attachment in seven audio files, a subject line which states "To Batman" and nothing else. Either his identity has been compromised or the sender believes the popular theory that Bruce Wayne funds the Justice League, and thus has the means to contact its members. He'll have to investigate thoroughly to make sure it's not the former.

His algorithm deems it clean so he has his secretary call Tim up to his office. Which leads to now, with his son sitting beside him at his desk, his cursor hovering over the play button and the door locked with instruction not to disturb them for the next hour (the files only add up to twenty-three minutes long, but they'll need some time to discuss). Depending on the contents, they'll leave early.

He presses play.

It's nearly impossible to have a quiet and peaceful day with the crew, like the strawhats. Nami is mostly used to the noise on Going Merry but one day she gets fed up with Zoro and Sanji arguing. Not only are they extremely loud, but they've also already broken way too many things during their fights.

She decides that If they want to act like brats, then she's going to treat them as such. So she makes them apologize and hug each other in silence for an hour. None of them are happy about this punishment, but Nami threatened to raise Zoro's debt, and Sanji couldn't say no to her. It could be worse.

It's awkward enough for them to not incite any fight for a long time and Nami is quite proud of herself. She knows it won't last forever but at least now she knows how to handle them. It inevitably happens again. And again. And again.

Much to her surprise, those fights became more and more frequent. And what's even weirder is that she could see the way both Zoro and Sanji occasionally glanced at her to make sure she was nearby. It's almost as if they wanted someone to make them hug each other. As if they needed an excuse.... these idiots.

Soon, they don't even need Nami's help. When they aren't busy training, cooking or fighting, they cuddle together. Sometimes Luffy or Chopper would join them, but most of the crew knew it was their time.

After two years spent separately, they became extremely clingy. It's no surprise when they start sleeping in the same bed. What is surprising is that despite them behaving like a lovey-dovey couple, those oblivious idiots are STILL unaware of each other's feelings.

The Fentonworks Mega-Lab.

So! AU where the Fentonworks Labs actually stretch Miles upon Miles below the City of Amity Park.

It started when the Fentons wanted to add a simple addition to the original Lab when they ran out of space to store their more dangerous weapons. They didn't want their (at the time) young children getting their hands on their experimental Weaponry, it could blow up in their faces!

So they built a different Wing of the Lab to hold all those Inventions.

Then they ran out of space and added a few extra Storage Rooms. But then they decided it was a hassle to have to carefully transport their Dangerous Inventions all the way to the Storage Rooms, and built a Lab specifically for Dangerous Experiments near that same Section. Then that Lab was occupied for a while, and Jack wanted to start a different experiment as well, so they built a few more.

In the end they just never stopped building onto their Labs.

There are sections of the Mega-Lab that are entirely walled off because a few of their more unstable Experiments contaminated the area. Walking into them was not recommended, else you could walk out with an extra eye or 5.

In other sections, their Captured Ghosts had taken over a few Labs and created a sort of Mad Max style civilization using their discarded weapons and vehicles.

In another, all Ghosts became Humans and all Humans became Ghosts. That was a weird one, to this day they still didn't understand how they pulled that off.

In another, some type of Eldritch Time Ghost had been born, and now sort of always existed and never existed, and began experimenting with its powers. They nicknamed it Clocky because it liked to carry around a stopwatch.

And so many more. At one point a failed Portal Experiment messed with the internal Space of the entire thing. Now there was literally no way of Mapping it. The Fentons still somehow managed to navigate it perfectly.

When Jazz and Danny grew up, they too learned how to navigate the Labs, which is how Danny managed to show his friends the Portal Experimentation Wing in the first place.

Unfortunately, it wasn't safe for anyone aside from the Fentons to enter the Mega-Labs, so one day when the Fenton Family+friends left town on a Week Long Camping/Road Trip, they put up a few Ghost Shields to keep both Humans out and the Ghosts in.

This drew some unwanted attention after some tourists saw the giant Glowng Green Building in the middle of an Illinois Town, and rightfully called the Justice League.

Now, the Justice League had tried to call the owners of the house, but nobody picked up the phone. (An incident with Jack and a Canoe had knocked most of their phones into the lake. They weren't even at the lake yet.)

When nobody picked up, they decided to investigate personally.

After getting into the House, they quickly found a door labeled "Labs: Do Not Enter (unless it we are late for Dinner)" and went into ignoring all the warnings.

They quickly regretted it.

A little continuation in my Gabriella lives au that already happened here and here.

So my another little headcanon, besides that Miguel is awkwardly attempting here to sorta adopt Gwen and is trying to figure out how to convince her to go back to school, is the night routine.

So Miguel (who read too many parenting guides* to catch up quickly and not fuck up this precious child) strongly believes in leading by example. So since he wants Gabriella to have good sleeping habits after her nightly routine he also goes to sleep at sensible hour. But he can't sleep through whole night so when he wakes up at ungodly hour he does some light work not to wake up her.

Then he prepares breakfast and bento (he totally had to learn to cook, you can't convince me otherwise) and with time he started having a little fun with it and then it became kinda hobby. It helps him wind down so that after he sends Gabriella to school he is actually able to take an extra 1-2 hour nap.

(* as in parenting guides for child of Gabriella age, totally clueless what to do with a traumatized teenager but after the denial he probably will do the homework)

Gideon has a whole protocol for when it gets too cold for Kremy. It's just how his brain works. He solved the issue like it was some machine acting up rather than his friend having a natural reaction to the cold.

First and foremost; GET WARM FAST. Whatever the quickest way to get Kremy warm is, that is the first step. Usually this involves wrapping a blanket around both of them so that Gideon can use his own heat to help him.

Secondly; consider how close the next town is. Is it less than an hour and there's no active snow storm? Great, hot foot it to the inn. Are they actively being snowed on and the next town is half a days walk? Find best cover and set up tents, his own fire could only do so much, and it's not worth the risk at that point just to get inside a building.

Thirdly; once in a relatively dry and protected space, remove any wet clothing and replace with comfy, dry jammies. If no wet clothing, removal beyond jacket and hat is unnecessary. Simply place sleepwear near the bed if Kremy wants to change later.

Fourth; alligators are evidently still able to drink during brumation. Grab waterskin and warm it a little. This will help with internal temperatures. AVOID ALCOHOL.

If all is well, simply prepare for bed. Grab a snack to assure internal fire keeps going all night. Ideal sleeping situation has Kremy on top of Gideon to avoid cold floors if they are in a tent, otherwise just having his arms around him in any other position.

There's only been one time when any other steps were needed. Thankfully they had the rest of the Krew by that point, so Gricko was able to assist, but Gideon really hopes he'll never have to do CPR again.
