What do you imagine Ava and Sara's daughter looking like? I know in Legends we pretty much saw. But, a part of me figured with the rest of the Lance canonically all have darker shades of hair (from Quentin's black, to Laurel at least in S1 having light blondish-brown, to Dinah's honey blonde). I kinda of imagined that even though both Avalance are blonde. That Sara's darker hair genes would be dominant. On top of the fact that we have no idea what Ava's genetic make up is and she could also be carrier of certain genes. I always loved the idea that everyone assumed Avalance's child would be a carbon copy and then the baby pops out and she has dark brown hair that she clearly got from Quentin lol
this is interesting!! i choose to believe maybe she's born blonde and her hair darkens over time? like laurel? that cld be very emotional for sara to see

Gravity Falls, Swiftblade Rises - Lance Family xBaby!Lance Reader x Platonic!Dick Grayson
A/n: We’ve got Baby!Danvers and Little!Luthor but now we have Baby!Lance too
You were 8 years old when the Queen’s Gambit sank and you lost one of your sisters. You lost your father to alcohol, your mother to guilt and your remaining sister to anger.
Your family lost two daughters that day as you ran away, finding shelter in the travelling circus who took you in after you showed potential to become a acrobat. The SCPD never found you and Y/n Lance disappeared because you ran away and joined the circus.
You trained to become an acrobat in the traveling circus, Haly’s Circus. You were watched by many due to an accident years ago, the Flying Graysons fell to their death, leaving their son orphaned. Apparently he had then been adopted by Bruce Wayne.
That was the day that Gravity was born.
You didn’t just learn acrobatics at the circus however. You’d learned many languages from travelling to different places under the name they’d given you to protect you. They knew what had happened to your family as you’d told them when you were 13. You’d told them as you’d just found out Oliver Queen was alive. The amount of knives you’d thrown in your reaction that hit the target shocked the visiting Dick Grayson who recognised the emotions you were feeling.
You’d been training with Dick Grayson aka Nightwing as you’d figured out quite quickly for a little over a year when Haly’s Circus went to Central City. The date was December 11th, 2013.
It was only a practice performance for the next night but you didn’t know your trapeze had been tampered with as you took your turn to go.
The trapeze rope snapped, causing you to stare up in horror as your arms reached for a trapeze that wasn’t there. It was in that moment that the wave of dark matter you’d come to learn, from S.T.A.R. Lab’s Particle Accelerator hit you just before Dick Grayson did the one thing he was never able to do for his parents.
He saved you.
Your hand covered your mouth in shock as the grip on your ankles stopped you from falling to your death.
That was the night Gravity fell, and Swiftblade was born.
It took 9 months for your powers to develop and occur as you subconsciously began to manipulate the gravity around you to slow your movement between trapezes to reach them easier. Your acrobatic skills increased and so did your martial art skills plus accuracy with knives. Your physical abilities improved thanks to training with Nightwing and your powers whilst your mental abilities increased thanks to Dick Grayson and the circus.
By 2016 you’d learned to consciously control and use your gravity manipulation powers to become the vigilante Swiftblade, working alongside Nightwing to fight crime after you were given a white and purple suit. Designed  Designed so you’d can be flexible and use your acrobatic skills in combat along with martial arts and knife throwing to fight crime without harm or restriction to movement.
In 2013 it was revealed your sister, Sara had survived the sinking of the Queen’a Gambit alongside Oliver Queen although you didn’t know this. You also didn’t know that in 2016, Damien Darhk attempted to murder your other sister, Laurel. Luckily she just survived the stabbing and Oliver ended Damien Darhk’s life. You were also unaware of the existence of the a doppelganger of Laurel although Dick had told you about the multiverse as Bruce had told him.
In 2018 your father was shot and almost killed by Ricardo Diaz but he survived as Diaz ended up dead months later at the hands of Emiko, Oliver’s half-sister you were also unaware of...
Year: 2020, Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths
“Remind me what we’re doing here, please.” Earth 2 Laurel asked, linking arms with Dinah who walked besides her, Sara and Ava were walking along holding hands as Earth 1 Laurel walked alongside Quentin.
“We’re going to see Haly’s circus. Apparently they have impressive knife throwing.” Sara stated with a smile.
“Plus other acts that don’t sound like the League of Assassins like trapeze artists and acrobats.” Quentin added causing  E1 Laurel to smile.
“Is one of the performers named Gravity?” E2 Laurel questioned causing Dinah to chuckle. “I think so, why?” Ava asked in response, turning to face E2 Laurel gesturing to a poster of you.
“Apparently her trapeze acts look like she’s floating or there’s no gravity as she swoops through the air...” Ava began to ramble causing Sara to smirk at her.
“Well, we’ll find out as the circus is around the corner-” Quentin began to speak before he was cut off by someone trying to get past him.
“Excuse me.” You mumbled, hiding your shock behind a blank expression as you fiddled with the hood of your hoodie. “No problem, sorry.” Quentin replied before watching you walk away.
“Dad, what is it?” E1 Laurel asked, gaining everyone else’s attention.
“She seemed familiar, Laurel, that’s all.” Quentin replied with a shrug. Not realising you’d lingered to hear what they said before jumping the nearby fence to take a shortcut into the Star City park where Haly’s Circus had set up.
You let out a breath, blocking out what had just happened from memory as you removed your hoodie and trackies to reveal your performance outfit.
“Everything okay?” A voice asked as you began to fix your hair.
“I’m fine.” You stated, glancing at the person in the mirror as they raised an eyebrow behind their sunglasses.
“You know I can tell when you’re lying, right?” Dick Grayson reminded you causing you to sigh, letting your shoulders slouch.
“Remember when I told you my story about how I ran away from my family age 8... I’m from Star City, or Starling City as it used to be called... and I’m pretty sure I just ran into my dad on the way here.” You admitted, pausing as you realised Dick as hacking the CCTV cameras and using facial recognition.
“Quentin Lance is here, along with someone not on the database, your dead sister Sara, Dinah Drake from the SCPD, your sister Laurel and I’m assuming a doppelganger of Laurel Lance as well...”
You frowned at this before pausing as you realised it was your time to perform as you put on your mask.
“Time for Gravity to fly...” You whispered, smiling softly at Dick who gave you a thumbs up. “You’ll be great, kid.”
You let out a breath as you somersaulted into the spotlight, listening to the crowds cheers as you headed up to the trapezes, ignoring the light on you as you began your performance.
“She really does look like she’s floating...” Ava stated, Sara nodding in agreement with a mouthful of popcorn.
“Isn’t the name Gravity ironic? Because she’s in the air and gravity is her worst enemy right now?” E2 Laurel questioned causing Dinah to pause.
“Yeah, if you think about it...”
“That’s not the reason she’s called Gravity, I’m afraid.” A voice cut them off. Dick Grayson hid his smirk as he began to investigate your family to see whether they had changed from the family you’d ran away from back in 2007.
“Why is she called Gravity then?” Dinah asked causing Dick to smile softly.
“Her background, like many people at the circus is a sad one, she ran away from home at a young age and ended up joining. She was a natural at acrobatics, almost like gravity had no effect on her on the trapeze...it’s like she controls her own personal gravity up there...”
“She’s a runaway, why were the police not informed?” Dinah asked causing Dick to sigh.
“You think the SCPD were bothered about a missing child when things like the Queen’s Gambit sinking had occurred as well? One missing girl wasn’t a priority at the time...” Dick explained, causing Quentin to pay attention.
“She ran away in 2007 at the same time the Queen’s Gambit went down?” Quentin questioned causing Dick to nod.
“Damn, Gravity can throw knives too!” Sara exclaimed, gesturing to you now performing using knife throwing skills.
Quentin had a faraway look on his face as Dick stood up.
“Ask for Dick Grayson to security after the show, if you’re sure about what you’re going to do, Lance.” Dick stated, getting up and walking away from the stands, aware you’d been watching in your periphery.
///
“He recognised you.”
“I know he did, but I’m not the 8 year old girl he remembers.” You stated, crossing your arms.
“Hey, I’m not leaving you with them if you don’t want to, okay?” Dick stated causing you to smile slightly. “You’re like the older brother I never had...” You chuckled causing Dick to grin slightly before security entered.
“Lance family plus an Ava Sharpe and Dinah Drake.”
Dick just nodded before withholding a face-palm at you twirling a knife between your fingers.
“Y/n?” Quentin Lance asked, the words barely leaving his lips as his daughters whirled around in confusion and shock.
“What? Y/n? You really think-” Laurel began but she stopped speaking as you removed your performance mask.
“Obviously this could be a trick, has that occurred to you?” E2 Laurel asked causing you to roll your eyes before putting your hand out, wincing slightly at the pricking of the needle.
“Still can’t believe you carry that on you.” You mumbled as Dick gave the handheld DNA tester to Dinah to look at.
“How do you have one of these? These are Wayne Enterprises... You’re Dick Grayson, one of Bruce Wayne’s adopted sons.” Dinah realised causing Dick to just shrug with a smile.
“Check the DNA result.” Dick suggested with a small grin, causing you to roll your eyes.
“Y/n M/n Lance, born 1999 in Starling City, Earth 1... she’s...she’s your daughter Quentin.” Dinah stated causing everyone to wide eye you as you didn’t react.
“Y/n, I’m sorry-”
“Why did you run away?” E2 Laurel asked causing you to pause twirling the knife in your hand, letting go and ignoring how it was floating in the air.
“Let’s see, big sister gets with bigger sister’s boyfriend on boat, boat sinks, big sister dies, father is heartbroken and retreats to alcohol and working, mother runs away due to guilt, bigger sister is angry follows father into work. Little 8 year old is left what the hell happened so she runs away and nobody notices, later joining the circus... and here we are.” You explained, uncrossing your arms to take the knife into your hand again.
“You’re a meta-human.” Sara stated causing you to glance at her.
“You’re alive.” Your eyes lingered in Sara and who you assumed to be Ava next to her before lingering on the two versions of Laurel.
“Gravity, we have to go.” Dick suddenly stated, eyes focused on his phone. You squinted at him a bit before realising what he meant.
“We have to go.” You stated, grabbing your backpack and turning to leave.
“And just like that, you expect me to let you just run away again?” Quentin burst out causing you to turn around and sigh, scrambling for a piece of paper.
“My number... the circus leaves Star City tomorrow but I’ll keep in touch... I’m not the 8 year old girl you remember, okay?” You explained before leaving.
Quentin stared at the paper in his hand before taking his phone out of his pocket.
“You think its her actual number?” E1 Laurel asked, half suspicious, half hopeful.
“We can only hope...” Quentin replied.
///
“Swiftblade, ready?” Nightwing questioned causing you to nod at him.
“I still don’t get why Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are here...” You stated causing Nightwing to shrug. “I don’t know why they left Gotham but with Oliver Queen gone, who knows which Star City vigilantes will step up to the plate.”
The two of you smashed through the skylights to take on the goons that Harley and Ivy had hired as back-up before you moved on to fight Harley.
A scream shook you out of it as you used your powers to push yourself out of range of the blast.
“Damn, red, looks like we’ve got a screamer.” Harley joked causing you to grimace, ready to start fighting again when your eyes landed on the people who had arrived. You withheld speaking as it ran through your mind, what were they all doing here?
You were shook out of it as a vine almost hit your father, using your body, you propelled yourself in its path, letting out a grimace of pain as you pushed yourself up using your arms to force your legs over your head.
“Y/n...” Quentin whispered in realisation before you broke your gaze with him.
“Swiftblade, little help here!” Nightwing shouted, making you jump into action against Ivy with Nightwing as the three Black Canaries and White Canary worked on taking down Harley.

Dating Quentin Lance would include...
Tumblr media
Admittedly, I haven’t watched Arrow in a long while so this may seem slightly out of date and will be based on the earlier seasons.
So I’m going to guess you met at the precinct
Or because of Laurel.
Since Quentin got divorced, she’s been trying to set him up.
And when she met you, she just knew you were perfect for him.
And you were.
At first, you just keep an eye out for him, taking care of him.
Bringing him lunch, making sure he stays away from the bottle.
Y’know, typical girlfriend stuff.
Although, since meeting you, Quentin hasn’t felt the same need to drink.
He’s the pessimist. You’re the optimist.
After you find out about Oliver-because that kid cannot keep his mouth shut- a lot more makes sense.
And then you become a mother to Oliver and the rest of the team.
Because, as you’ve quickly realised, that kid needs help.
And Felicity cannot stop talking about how cute the pair of you are.
After all the hectic Star City nonsense, the dates are cute.
Every so often, Oliver would pay for you two to go somewhere fancy.
But you were perfectly content with watching movies together or talking over a bottle of something sparkling.
Quentin was always scared you were going to disappear on him.
Just like everyone else.
But you made it abundantly clear that you weren’t going anywhere.
Especially after you were kidnapped by Oliver’s big bad and survived.
Ooft that was a scary one.
Quentin sat at your hospital bedside for hours.
But the next day you were up and at ‘em, ready to go.
Not that anyone let you do anything.
Because Quentin and Felicity are worriers and their combined power resulted in two days (unnecessary) bedrest.
But, he worries because he cares.
He’s made it very clear that he loves you.
You complete him.
And Laurel adores you
And you love them too.

Sober is a good Look - Harrison Wells and Quentin Lance
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/n: Another old fic idea. I don’t own either of these gifs, I found them on Google.
The bitter substance burned your throat, pure acid fell into your stomach. You’d lost control of your physical movement a while ago and your arms moved on the default settings. You still retained your speech; that was one thing you could do well. It was how you covered the addiction. How you used to cover it. You’d lost your job a while ago, after your boss had been tragically killed.
“There you are kid.” Quentin Lance remarked as he tapped the bar side, “One water, and a strong coffee. – Make it two.”  He added. You eyeballed the bar tender as he set off to grab the drinks. Traitor you internally muttered.
Quentin had been your drinking buddy for a long time, now he’d stopped drinking, progressed in his career and often checked up on you. In particular he kept you from starting bar brawls and winding up in Jail. Unintentionally he had become your full time baby sitter. If you weren’t in the bar you’d be strung out across his sofa. A puddle of drool under your cheek, covering his freshly cleaned pillows.
“Sober is a good look on you” You snickered, pulling the glass to your lips. You were unsure what you were actually putting in your body, by this point everything tasted the same. Bitter and warm. He huffed as he rested his arms on the over polished bar top.
“Thanks, you should try it sometime.” He responded, “This isn’t what I came here for, surprisingly my Friday afternoon when I’m not at work isn’t always about you. No, someone wanted to find you.”
“[Name],” The gruff monotone voice clawed its way through the gentle hum of the Friday afternoon alcoholics club.
“Oh no thank you. I’d rather pull out my intestines. You can go on your way, wells”

Tumblr media
“Y/N?”
You were currently standing in Felicity’s apartment alongside the OTA and NTA. After the disastrous events that followed yours and your father’s rescue, Rene, Dinah and Curtis had formed their own team which left you in between the two teams.
OTA had asked you all to meet them so they could discuss the situation. Oliver had apologised for his actions and wanted to start with a clean slate. NTA had unanimously declined but that wasn’t an opinion you shared.
You walked over to stand beside OTA, looking back at your girlfriend. You opened your mouth to apologise before being interrupted by Dinah.
“I told you, y/n. What’s right for you.”
She said matter-of-factly as your mind flashed to a couple of weeks prior.
You teleported outside Dinah’s apartment, not wanting to walk there. You had just left the bunker, Oliver reluctantly letting you go and you felt exhausted. Raising your hand to knock on the door, it was almost instantly opened by Dinah. Her look of anger softening at the tears in your eyes.
She ushered you into her apartment and led you to her sofa where you both sat. Your voice not strong enough to speak, you wrapped your arms around you, rocking yourself. Dinah immediately gathered you into her arms and you allowed the tears to fall.
“I‘m sorry. I didn’t know.”
She soothed you as she cradled you against her chest, gently shushing you as you murmured your apologies.
When you had finally quietened, you stayed still in her arms until Dinah pulled back so she could place her hand on your cheek, lifting your face up to stare at her.
“I don’t want this to make you upset. You have to do what you have to do. I will accept your choices, y/n. That is what a relationship is. We support one another. If you decide to go back to Oliver, then okay. You do what’s right for you.”
***
“Oh great, are you going to tell me not to out Oliver too?”
Laurel turned around as you approached her, the court having just taken a break.
Oliver was currently on trial for being the Green Arrow and Laurel had been called as a witness. A worry to everyone, to say the least.
“No. Honestly,” you added when she raised her eyebrows in disbelief,
“I just wanted to say that I get that you’re in an impossible situation. You can either tell the truth which protects you but Oliver is convicted or you could lie which helps us but puts you in danger.”
“A way to sum it up, y/n. And you think I should be more like your Laurel and say-“
“No, Laurel.”
You sighed, “I know you’re not my Laurel. You and her are different people. I would never expect you to be like her because you aren’t her. You can only be yourself. As much as I love Laurel, she wasn’t perfect. Seriously.” You said when Laurel frowned.
“She used to say once you let the darkness inside, it never comes out. She had her own secrets, as do you. It’s not black and white. I don’t expect you to be one or the other.”
“Why are you even telling me this? Dinah’s not gonna be happy.” Laurel deflected, crossing her arms.
“Yes, you killing Vince strained our relationship but we worked through it. To paraphrase what someone close to me said, You have to do what you have to do. I will accept your choices, because that is what friends do. You have to do what’s right for you.”
“Y/N. Laurel.”
The both of you looked back at Dinah and Diggle who were standing outside the court doors. They told you that the court was back in session so Laurel walked past you but stopped when you grabbed her arm.
“Whatever mess Ollie is in right now is his own doing. He knew this was a possibility the moment he first put on that hood. Don’t worry about him. And you’re right, you’re not my Laurel but you are Laurel Lance. I am your sister and you are mine. You being from another Earth doesn’t change that.” You said fiercely.
The blonde nodded and the two of you walked back into the court room.
***
“Hurry.”
Using your powers, you teleported the team and the FBI to the abandoned building where Diaz was holding Laurel and Quentin.
After Laurel had testified that Tommy Merlyn was the Green Arrow, therefore exonerating Oliver, she had been taken by Diaz. Your father had agreed to meet him to get her and got himself kidnapped too in the process. But you were able to track him through his pacemaker so you teleported all of you there.
As the others ran to find them, you remained in place and focused on your heart. You knew you’d be able to find your family quicker that way.
Locking onto your father’s heartbeat, you teleported into a metal cage and saw a gun raised in the air.
“2...1...”
“NO!”
A gun shot rang out as you pushed your father aside and jumped in front of him and Laurel. Falling to the ground with a groan, white hot pain seared through your body and you clutched your stomach but blood quickly coloured your hands.
“Y/N!”
Laurel and Quentin shouted in shock as they clambered to your side. Then you all looked up to see Diaz gone and Dinah in his place.
“Oh my god,” she gasped before looking at Laurel.
“Dee, please.”
You uttered, wordlessly begging her not to resume the feud between her and your sister. You watched as she raised her weapon and pulled Laurel’s sonic dampener off her neck.
You felt yourself being lifted in your father’s arms, Laurel and Dinah on either side, using their screams to defeat the bad guys.
Once you were out of the building, your father quickly but gently laid you on the hospital bed in the ambulance. The car engine came to life as it sped away, the sirens filling the air but slowly fading away.
Opening your eyes, you were surprised at your surroundings.
You were in your apartment that you had shared with Laurel. Sitting upright, your hands flew to your stomach as you lifted your shirt to see the wound but were shocked when you felt nothing but smooth skin.
“Y/N?”
You stood up from the sofa and stilled at the familiar voice. You slowly turned around, not believing your ears. When your eyes fell upon them, they widened as your jaw dropped.
“L-Laurel?”
The blonde smiled and you realised exactly which Laurel she was.
“Oh my-You’re my Laurel.”
“Hi, babygirl.”
At the use of your nickname, you ran towards your sister and launched into her arms, tears running down your face.
“God, I missed you. Wait, how am I here? Am I dead?”
You asked, arms wrapped tightly around Laurel, as if scared that the moment you let go, she’d disappear.
“You’re not dead, honey. This is the world between worlds. Your safe place. You’re in a coma and your mind is here but your soul and body are in the hospital.”
Resting your head in the crook of Laurel’s neck, you hugged her once more, still not believing she was here.
“I miss you so much, Laurel. When I see Black Siren everyday, it just makes me miss you that much more.”
“Speaking of which, how is my doppelgänger?”
“She’s not evil if that’s what you’re asking. She used to be but I think she’s just conflicted. You two actually have a lot in common.”
“Y/N Lance, always seeing the best in people.”
“Me and Black Siren have gotten quite close recently...” You said warily, your smile faltering.
At this, Laurel cupped your cheek, tilting your head upwards, so you could look into her eyes when you shyed away,
“Baby, she’s not me. She’s a completely different person. And from what I’ve seen, she cares about you too. This whole parallel worlds thing messes with my head but I think you need someone.”
“You have Dinah on one side, who is doing great as the Black Canary by the way, and Black Siren on the other. I may not be physically with you, well, I am technically.”
She laughed before continuing,
“What I’m trying to say is, is that it’s okay if you want to get to know her. I’m still with you, wherever you go.”
“I don’t want to leave you.”
“You have to, babygirl...You have a world you have to get back to.”
“I don’t want to live in a world that you’re not a part of. I-I can’t lose you again.”
“You won’t lose me. I’m always with you.”
She took off her necklace and put it around your neck. Then she placed her hand on your chest, over your heart and you covered her hand with yours and squeezed in longing.
“No matter where you go, I will always be by your side.”
She placed a kiss on your forehead and wrapped her arms around you once more before you felt yourself slipping away.
“I love you, Laurel.”
“I love you too, y/n.”
***
“I’m sorry. We tried everything.”
Dr Schwartz solemnly said as tears fell down everyone’s faces.
CRASH
Everyone ran towards the hospital door and were surprised at what they saw.
It was you. Or was it?
You were laying in the bed, eyes closed, seemingly dead...or unconscious at the very least. But there was another you, like a projection, that was currently fighting Diaz in the room.
He had you pinned against the wall, hand around your throat, when you faded away and materialised again, now out of his grip.
“This is for shooting me.”
You kicked him in his groin causing him to keel over in pain.
“And this is for kidnapping my family.”
You swung at his head, successfully knocking him unconscious as he slumped to the ground.
You looked up at the door where everyone was stood, including Sara, and you opened your mouth to speak when you noticed the FBI agent.
“Well, cuff him. He’s not gonna stay down forever.”
Once Diaz was handcuffed and escorted out of the room, you felt yourself fade away again.
Then you, the you in the bed, woke up in a rush, lurching to sit upright. You blinked hard when the room span, and again when there was a sharp pain in your side. You had forgotten that you had been shot.
“What the-“
Rene stopped himself from letting out a curse.
“I didn’t know you could do that.” Sara said.
“Neither did I. Astral Projection...Cool.”
Sara, Quentin and Dinah walked to the side of your bed, each of them hugging you but taking care not to touch your wound.
“God, what is it with us Lance’s and stomach wounds?” You laughed but cringed when a sharp pain ran through you.
“Hey, where did you get that?”
“I gave it to her.”
Laurel replied to Felicity when she pointed out the necklace around you.
Glancing down, you smiled and looked back up at Laurel. It was the exact same necklace that your Laurel had placed around you earlier.
“You and my Laurel really are similar. It’s a long story.” You added when everyone’s eyebrows were raised in question.
“So...what’d I miss?”
Your family caught you up on everything that happened when you were in the hospital and you explained that your projection teleported Diaz to you after you had focused on your wound that he had caused.
Soon enough, everyone was laughing together and you couldn’t help but smile because it had been a while since you all were this happy.
“Are we finally done with the fighting? I don’t want to choose between you all.”
“Yes, we’re done. All we care about now is you.”
Dinah said, tenderly kissing your lips but with a ferocity that usually comes with almost losing someone you love.
Pulling away from the kiss, you smiled against her lips when she touched her forehead against yours before straightening beside you.
“Thank God. I love you all. But that feud was ridiculous. So...now that Diaz is gone, what’s next?”
The moment the words left your mouth, a figure appeared, dressed to the nines in weird space-type clothing.
You and the rest of your family looked at the man in concern when Oliver shouted, “Who the hell are you?”
“I am Mar Novu and there is a malevolent force at work, one driven by a singular goal. The destruction of all there is. The time for preparation has passed.”
“The Crisis is now upon us all.”

Snowed In - Quentin Lance
Day 21 of the 25 Days of Winter Fics! I forgot how excited I was for this one!
Working late nights at the precinct was nothing new for you. Often nights, you found yourself staying there long enough to see three different shift changes. You weren’t the only one that did this, though. Your captain, Quentin Lance, was also usually there late. The few nights that he did get out early were the nights that his daughter, Laurel, came in to drag him out of the office.
Tonight, however, Laurel didn’t stop by so you and Quentin had both been there since nine this morning. As one of the head detectives, you worked closely with your captain. You had planned on calling tonight an early night so that you could catch the premiere of your favorite t.v. show. You were finishing up with your paper work when Quentin called you into his office.
“What’s up, Captain?” you asked. His back was turned to you and you looked at where he was looking. On the T.V. screen was a news report. Killer Frost was attacking the city, coating everything with snow and ice. “Holy shit,” you said.
“Uh huh,” he said with a sigh. It was no surprise that the captain had had a heart attack last year. With everything that happened in this city, you would too if you were in charge.
“So I guess I’m not calling it an early night,” you said.
“Nope. Sorry,” he said, looking down at you.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll go get my belt,” you said, walking towards the door. You put your hand on the door knob, but pulled it away a moment later.
“What?” he asked.
“Nothing,” you said in confusion. “It’s just really, really cold.” You knew that Quentin was watching the door just as carefully as you were. The door opened and you breathed a sigh of relief until you laid eyes on the solid wall of ice blocking your way.
“God dammit,” Quentin said, walking towards the doorway. He knocked on the wall of ice, but it seemed pretty damn thick as nothing moved away. Looking to the windows, you noticed a growing layer of ice forming around them.
“Captain!” you said.
“Dammit,” he said again. He started running towards one of the last windows, hoping to break through it. He was too late, and ran into a glass window that shattered against his shoulder, but he was stopped by the ice wall. He fell down to the floor, clutching onto the now bleeding shoulder.
“Quentin,” you said, running towards him.
“I’m fine.” You looked up at him deadpanned and he sighed.
“Take off your coat.” He did and rolled up the sleeve of his shirt. There was only a small cut on his shoulder, thankfully. He pointed at a back up shirt in his drawer that you took out a ripped. You wrapped it around his wound, using your mouth to tighten it.
“Thanks,” he said. You looked up at him and realized how close you were.
“Yeah.” You dusted off your pants and stood up. You knocked on the ice walls in a couple of different places but it seemed solid all around. “What are we gonna do?”
“I guess hope the arrow shows up,” he said with a bitter smile. You laughed and walked back towards him. You held out a hand for him and he took it. He walked back out to his desk. He fiddled with his walkie talkie and phone, but neither were working.
“So I guess we’re stuck, then.” He nodded.
“We’ll probably be here for a while, too,” he said. You sighed.
“Might as well get comfortable,” you said, sitting down on one of the chairs facing his desk, kicking your feet up onto the other. He laughed and sighed, too.
“Can I ask you a question?” he asked.
“Sure.”
“Why is the T.V. still working?” You looked over at it and watched as more and more of the town began to get covered in ice. You shrugged, and not two seconds after you did it cut off.
“I guess it’s not anymore.” He chuckled.
“That seems about right. Sorry about your early night.”
“That’s okay. You’re not responsible. Luckily I have a DVR. What about you, did you have any plans?” He laughed and shook his head.
“Yes, actually.”
“Oh. I didn’t mean to insinuate that you-”
“Don’t worry,” he said, holding up a hand. “I don’t usually have any plans. But my daughter was trying to set me up with a woman tonight.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, so tonight wasn’t actually bad timing.” You chuckled.
“Are you saying you’re glad that a villain attacked our city?” He laughed and shook his head.
“No, but it couldn’t have been more perfectly timed.” You both laughed again.
“If you don’t mind me asking, why weren’t you excited for this date?” you asked. He shrugged.
“It’s a blind date.”
“Well, maybe she was your soulmate.”
“I doubt that. She was a reporter,” he said, grimacing. You laughed again. “You know,” he said. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you laugh this much.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard you be this funny,” you said, smiling at him. He smiled back and you felt yourself blush a little. You had spent plenty of time with the captain before. Most of your days were spent together but this was different.
“Well, you’re good company. There isn’t anyone else in this office I would rather spend the rest of the world with.” You giggled again.
“Me either. And we might have to repopulate the world, too. I couldn’t imagine doing that with Hank,” you said, talking about your partner. He laughed and looked at you curiously. It was then that you realized what you said. “Not that I was assuming anything, sir.”
“No, you’re right,” he said, smiling slightly. “We might have to repopulate the earth. I couldn’t imagine doing that with Hank either.” You snorted, relaxing a little.
“Could you imagine yourself doing it with your blind date?” you asked, standing up and sitting on the edge of his desk.
“No.”
“With me?” you asked nervously. You were fiddling with something on his desk, and he started tracing his fingertips over your hand.
“Well, if we have to repopulate the earth, of course.” You smiled and you locked eyes.
“Right. I mean, it’s our duty.” He stood up and nodded.
“Exactly. We wouldn’t be very good cops if we didn’t think about the future of our city.” You nodded and watched as he walked around his desk so that you were facing again.
“Right,” you said, taking his hand back in yours. You just played with his fingers for a while, not looking back up at his eyes. “How long do you think we’ll be in here?”
“I don’t know. I’m not even sure how long we’ve been in here so far,” he said, stepping closer to you so that you had to push your legs open for him to stand in between. He nodded up at the clock and you noticed that it was frozen. “Ya know, I like the way you laugh,” he said. “Always have.” You grabbed onto his tie and smiled.
“I’ve always liked your stupid jokes,” you said. He laughed and trailed a hand gently up your thigh. “Well,” you said, giving his tie a little tug. “Since neither of us know how long we’ve been in here, and we’d both like to do our civil service to the world, maybe we should-”
“I completely agree,” he said, cutting you off.
“Are you sure that’s okay, Captain?” you asked. He didn’t answer but instead brought himself closer to you. You pulled on his tie just enough so that your lips finally met. You had never kissed your boss before, but assumed that the butterflies in your stomach had something to do with the excitement of it. You definitely weren’t suppose to be making out with your Captain. You also were definitely not suppose to knock everything off of his desk so that you two could lay out flat on it. And you were almost positive that you should not have started kicking off your shoes and unbuttoning his shirt either as you continued to kiss.
But the world was ending. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

IMAGINE SAVING AN EMPTY CEREAL BOX FOR NEARLY A DECADE -- THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT TARANTINO DID.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on one of the kitschiest scenes in all of cinema & American pop culture history -- the box of then already retro Frute Brute breakfast cereal making its silver screen debut in Quentin Tarantino's 1994 movie "Pulp Fiction" during a memorable scene involving the drug dealer character, Lance (Eric Stoltz), talking on a mobile phone to Vincent Vega (John Travolta).
FUN FACT: Tarantino saved a box before the cereal was discontinued in 1983.

Lonely.
I will forever be salty that LoT doesn’t let Sara explore her grief a bit more, it seems. Anyway, enjoy some angst with a happy ending!
---
Sara put down the make-up brush and stared at herself in the mirror. It wasn’t a lot, but she felt confident in what she did for herself. Lightly, she put on the finishes touches to her lips and was ready for the big event.
In just a few short hours she’d be marrying the love of her life.
But why did her heart feel so heavy? Shouldn’t she be overjoyed that she was marrying Ava? But it only took one quick glance to the photo sitting her in locket to remind her why she felt this way. Laurel and Oliver smiled up at her, their faces alive and happy. Sara picked up the locket, holding it gently in her hand. At least Oliver got to marry the life of his life, Laurel never even got that chance. Both men she loved were tragically ripped away from her, before her own life was as well.
Although Laurel told her it was the right decision, Sara couldn’t help but still feel guilty that she didn’t use the Loom of Fate to bring her back. Why did someone like her get so many chances at life yet her sister didn’t? It was a cruel thing, fate was. Sara would have gladly given one of her several returns to life in exchange for Laurel to be here on her wedding day.
And Oliver too, who would never see his daughter grow old. How was it fair that someone who gave so much and rarely asked for anything in return was not allowed this once in a lifetime opportunity. At least Mia had Felicity, who was one tough cookie. It just felt like some cosmic joke to her. Oliver wasn’t perfect, but he deserved to grow old with his wife and children.
Sara blew a frustrated breath through pursed lips. She needed to stop thinking about this. About them. Today was supposed to be about her happiness, her love. About her and Ava finally retiring from saving the universe and enjoying life. It wasn’t an easy decision for them to make, especially for her. Sara had been fighting since she was teenager. What would the domestic life feel like? Going for walks with having to watch your back? Talking about that silly thing the neighbours did with Ava? Sara honestly couldn’t even picture it in her mind.
There was a knock at her door, startling from her thoughts. Sara put on a brave face and called out, “Come in!”
Nyssa walked into the room with a smile adorning her face. Sara smiled back, but Nyssa was not fooled. She had known Sara for a very long time and knew when she was hiding her feelings. Nyssa closed the door softly before turning to face her former love.
“What is wrong, Beloved?”
Sara smiled softly at the familiar expression. “It’s nothing, really. Just got thinking.”
“Thinking about what?”
“How much I miss them,” she said, looking down at the locket again.
Nyssa nodded in understanding as she came to sit next to Sara. “I miss them as well. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you.”
Sara clutched the locket, holding it to her heart. “I wish they could be here to see this. I want to let them know that I only got this far because of their support. Especially Laurel’s…” the tears welled up in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall.
“Sara…” Nyssa reached for her hand, squeezing it in comfort. “They may not be here physically, but I know Oliver and your sister. They’re watching from wherever they are currently. They would be so happy for you, so happy that you found the love they wished for you. Do you understand that?”
“I do,” said Sara with a small voice, “but that doesn’t make me miss them any less.”
Nyssa hugged Sara tightly. All she could hope was that Sara could feel her emotions through the hug. That it was okay to grief those you’ve lost, you just cannot let it consume you. Sara hugged back just as tightly, wondering when the emptiness in her heart would finally feel a little more whole.
Another knock at the door broke the pair apart. Ray stuck his head into the room, his smile instantly dropping when he saw Sara. He wasted no time in walking across the floor and scooping the tiny assassin into a bear hug.
“I have no idea what’s upsetting you, Sara, but I’m not going to let it ruin your wedding day,” he said firmly.
“Ray…”
Ray put Sara onto the floor before getting to work straightening out her wedding dress. “Sara, I’ve known you for a very long time. Heck, I think you’re my oldest friend at this point. You were there for me when Nora and I tied the knot. We were there for each other through all the hardships that we’ve face. I would never let you do this alone.” Ray stepped back to make sure there wasn’t a single wrinkle left. With a satisfied nod, Ray placed a gentle hand on Sara’s shoulder.
“You deserve happiness and peace, Sara Lance,” said Ray with watery eyes. “I believe that more than anything else in the world.”
Sara swallowed thickly while blinking out tears. “Thank you…” She fanned at her laugh with a wet laugh. “Oh God, my make-up. Ava is going to freak out if I don’t get a move on things.”
“I believe I can help with that,” said Nyssa with a smirk. She held up the eye make-up with a fire in her eyes. “I am quite good with my hands, after all.”
Sara burst out into laughter while Ray looked pleasantly confused. Together, Ray and Nyssa got Sara ready to walk down the aisle.
XXX
Quentin looked like he was trying his hardest not to cry as he walked his daughter down the aisle. Sara squeezed his arm tightly as they did, trying to keep her raging emotions in check.
“I’m so happy for you, baby,” he said in a choked whisper.
“Thanks, dad.” Sara sniffled slightly. “I’m really happy too.”
He gave her a kiss on the cheek as he left her at the alter. He joined his wife in the front row. Sara took in the crowd. Jax and his wife were here with their kids. Thea and Roy were in the crowd chatting quietly to Dinah. Sara couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow when she noticed that Dinah had her pinkie finger linked with Laurel 2.0. That was unexpected. Barry and Iris were sitting next to Kara, Alex, Lena, and Kelly. Ray waved to her, his arm linked with a very happy looking Nora, who was also waving. Mona was seated next to Gary, who was already ugly crying. Nate was on Ray’s right side, and he was beaming up at Sara, Zari holding his free hand. Charlie was with her band, providing the music for the wedding. Amaya came from the past to also watch her former captain and friend tie the knot. She was seated next to the Hawks, which they had been hard to track down, but Kendra had been Sara’s first friend aboard the Waverider, and there was no way she was going to miss this for the world. Nyssa sat with Sin, who was looking so much older than Sara last remembered.
All her friends and family were here, and it was a wonderful sight to see.
Charlie looked up towards the doorway and motioned to her band to start playing the music. Sara’s heart was beating like crazy with anticipation as the doors swung open.
Ava walked out from behind the curtains. Her smile was wide and there were already tears in her eyes as she walked towards Sara. Her dress was nothing fancy, but that’s exactly what suited her best. Mick was walking her down the aisle. They had an unlikely friendship, but Ava had helped Mick with so many things in his life, he felt it only fair to return a favour. There were tears in his eyes as he helped her up the steps. He gave Sara a quick nod before clomping back down to take his seat next to Spooner, who was sitting with Astra and Behrad.
“Alright,” said Diggle with a clearing of his throat. “Sara and Ava both asked that this not be fancy. Sara said to me, ‘I already have enough drama in my life, I don’t need it at my wedding too,’ and I couldn’t agree more.”
This drew laughs from the crowd.
“So, Sara, do you have anything you want to say to Ava?” asked Diggle.
Sara nodded quickly. “Ava, I just want to say that you’ve made me the happiest girl in the world. You just get me, and that is so important. We’ve had our rough patches, but we always got through them together. You’ve been with me through thick and thin. I love you so much that it makes me lie awake at night thinking about it. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.” She smiled brightly, ignoring the tears that flowed freely down her face now.
“Ava, do you have anything you want to say to Sara?”
“Yes.” Ava took a deep shaky breath. Sara could feel the tremors in her hands as she spoke. “I hated you the first time I saw you.” Everyone laughed at that, including Sara and Ava. “But you slowly broke down my walls and taught me how to really live. If it wasn’t for you, I probably would still be working for Rip, without ever realizing the person I could have been. You helped me because the best version of me, because that’s what’s being a person is all about. Helping each other grow. I hope that we can continue to do just that, because you’ll be spending every moment with me, and I can’t wait.”
Diggle smiled at the two of them before saying. “Okay, well, go ahead then!”
Sara dipped Ava and gave her the most passionate kiss she could muster. It would take some time, but she was hopeful that Ava would help her fill the hole in her heart. She already had, in some way. Because Sara knew that this right here meant that she was no longer lonely. She would always grieve the death of her Laurel, her wonderful and beautiful sister, and her best friend in Oliver. But she also knew that Ava would always be there for her, every step of the way.
And she was ready to see where that path led.

avalance wedding vows
@puppetavasharpe challenged me to write the avalance wedding vows, so i wrote everything but the vows! (nah jokes there are some vows in here i just got Very carried away lmao). i'll clean up and post to ao3 when i find the time. enjoy!!
They both agreed they’d spent too much time apart in the weeks before their wedding to spend the night before it apart, and Sara was grateful, the nervous hammering of her heart calmed by Ava’s hand in hers, as they lay in the semi-darkness, neither ready to sleep quite yet.
“We're getting married tomorrow.” Ava said softly into the darkness.
“Yeah.” Sara said, the sound floating in the air. “Do we have to do it front of everyone? Can't we elope? Because we have a time machine, we don’t need to be married by an Elvis impersonator in Vegas, I can take us to get married by the real Elvis -”
“You're nervous.” Ava said - it wasn't a question, more of a slightly surprised statement, and Sara made an indignant noise.
“No, Sara Lance does not get nervous -”
Ava squeezed her hand, and Sara stopped the act.
“Fucking terrified. You?”
“Yeah, kind of.” Ava said softly. “But - the idea that you’ll be there - that helps. Is that weird?”
“No.” Sara said, as she moved further into her fiancée's side. “No, I think that helps me too.”
“Have you got everything ready? Are your vows written?” Ava asked, and it was Sara’s turn to squeeze her hand, trying to calm the part of Ava that needed their wedding day to run like a train station under communist rule.
“Yeah, all written.” She said, trying to keep her voice nonchalant. She had some pointers on a piece of paper in the pocket of her dress, and her plan of seeing where the day took her for the rest of it would almost certainly work. “What about you?”
“All done.” Ava said, her tone almost strangled, and Sara turned, propping herself up on one elbow to look down at her.
“Why do you look so guilty?” Sara asked, slightly confused, and her face broke into a grin when Ava started to flush pink.
“I wrote them - um – maybe about a year ago.”
“What? But I hadn't proposed -”
“I know.” Ava said, a hand coming up to cover her cheek. “It wasn’t - um - after anything in particular, you’d just come back from Star City and it sort of hit me, then, that this is what I wanted. For the rest of my life. So, I wrote them.”
“But you waited all this time -”
“Because I wanted you to propose to me.” Ava said, her voice soft, and she turned away, clearly embarrassed, but Sara’s hand caught her, to bring their eyes back together. “I just - I wanted to be proposed to. I know that’s sappy. And I wanted you to know, on your own, that you were completely ready.”
“I’m ready.” Sara said softly, as she ran her thumb along Ava's cheekbone. “That's adorable. You’re so cute.”
“Shut up.” Ava muttered, still bright red, and Sara laughed.
“Aw, Aves, is that any way to treat your future wife?”
“Go to sleep.” Ava said, grinning now, and she gently pushed Sara back down. Sara took full advantage of the new position and moved close, pressing her face against Ava’s shoulder and snaking her arms around her waist.
“I'm excited to hear them. I can't wait to marry you.”
“I can't wait either.” Ava said, voice a near whisper. “And - if it gets too much tomorrow- we can go find Elvis and he can marry us.”
“Thank you.” Sara said as she yawned, finally ready to sleep. “Night, baby. Love you.”
“Goodnight, my love.” Sara heard, softly spoken, as she drifted off to sleep.
///
Best laid plans - and Ava's plans were always the best - seemed a truism in that moment. Guests had been arriving in a constant stream, Mick making trips in the jump ship to pick everyone up, grumbling that he wasn't a taxi service, and Sara had only just finished getting ready - slipping into her white jumpsuit and curling her hair, as Nate sat on the bed and gushed about how beautiful love was, Behrad fast asleep next to him.
Constantine's mansion looked wonderful, Astra having spent a week learning the spells to cover the place in streamers and balloons, only they kept appearing and disappearing randomly, which caused Sara to yelp as a party of balloons suddenly appeared next to her.
She’d lost her shoes. These shoes were nothing special, but Sara was determined to find them, because they were her tallest pair, and she wasn't having Ava craning her neck to kiss her in every one of their wedding photos. People might think she was short or something.
Sara rounded into the ballroom, and saw something she was definitely not meant to see.
“Ava?” She said, and Ava turned, squeaked, and squeezed her eyes shut.
“Sara! What are you doing! Nate said he’d keep you in the bedroom until -”
“I’m just - what are you doing?”
“It's bad luck to see each other.” Ava said, eyes still tight shut, and Sara laughed, a slightly shaky sound.
“Well, baby, I’ve seen you now.” She looked her up and down, slightly in awe. Ava's dress was simple, ivory satin with a bardot neckline, her hair curled over one shoulder, elegant and beautiful. There was a quiver in Sara’s voice when she spoke again. “You're so beautiful. How did I ever get this lucky?”
“Stop it, you shouldn’t even be seeing me.” Ava said, her voice also thick with emotion, and Sara took three steps forward across the ballroom, taking Ava’s hands in her own.
“You can look, baby.” Sara said softly, and Ava’s eyes opened, widening when she took in what Sara was wearing. When their eyes connected again, there were tears on her lashes.
“You look so pretty. Are those trousers?”
Sara laughed and nodded, trying to keep her own tears at bay. “Yeah, um, the last wedding I went to was kind of invaded by Nazi superheroes, so I thought this would work for fighting.”
“You’re so practical. I'm not going to ask about the Nazis.” Ava sniffed, and Sara reached out to hold her hands.
“I can’t wait to marry you.” Sara said softly.
“You'll be there, won’t you? At the end, waiting for me?” Ava asked, almost shyly, and Sara nodded. All the Legends, even Spooner, had offered to walk her down the aisle when it had come out that Ava had no family to do it for her, but Ava had decided to walk alone.
Her only caveat - that Sara go first, so she could see who she was walking towards.
“Yeah, baby. I’ll be there.” Sara said, and turned slightly at Behrad’s shout of “I’ve found them!”
“That's my cue.” Sara said, trying to shake the tears from her eyes, and Ava scrunched her brow.
“Found what?”
“I'll tell you afterwards baby. I'll see you later.”
“I wouldn't miss it.” Ava said softly, and Sara beamed at her, before turning to run back the other way, before anyone saw that they’d seen each other.
///
Sara stood in the eaves, looking out to the flower filled garden, guests seated and talking, enjoying the sun and the chance to see old friends.
If her nerves weren’t bad before -
“You ready, kid?”
The gruff voice of her dad came from just behind her, and Sara nodded, trying to hide her sweating palms.
“Yeah, I’m ready. I just -” She started, then her voice dropped slightly. “I wish Laurel was here. I’d never imagined that I'd be doing this without her.”
“She’d be so proud of you.” Quentin said softly, and Sara nodded, a wet laugh escaping her lips when she realized they were both crying.
Before Sara could reply, the familiar tune played on the violin swept over the garden, and the guests fell in a hush, and Sara accepted the handkerchief her dad offered to wipe her eyes.
Quentin held out his arm, and Sara looped hers through his, stepping out into the light.
///
It all seemed like a blur. Ava walked down the aisle, a vision in white, a nervous smile on her face, and Sara considered just booking it down the few feet of grass that separated them to hold her hand, but she stayed firm, and Ava reached her, handing her bouquet off to Mona, and Sara reached out then, threading their fingers together. Nate’s words about love and their relationship almost melted away as she stared into Ava’s eyes, and she would have missed the vows if it weren’t for Ava gently squeezing her hand.
“Sara - I -” Ava started, stopped, took a shaky breath, and Sara beamed at her, willing her on, and Ava swallowed. “I wrote this after you came to Purgatory to get me. I’d never imagined, up until that point, that anyone could ever love me enough to do something like that, bring me back from the precipice, but you did.” Ava paused, and smiled gently at her. “You’ve changed my life irrevocably, and always for the better. You’ve made me a better person, a more thoughtful person, you’ve helped me to find who I am – you've also helped me to lose both my job and my house, but we won’t dwell on that -”
Ava seemed almost surprised when the guests laughed, and Sara squeezed her hand.
“Every time I think I’ve figured you out, you do something that surprises me. I can’t imagine my life – my future - without you in it, and I want it, all of it, every crazy adventure and every not so crazy one, just – all of it, because, I know whatever it is, you’ll be there with me, and we’ll face it together.” Ava said, then took a breath. “I love you, Sara Lance. Always and forever.”
Sara stood, slightly open mouthed, and would have kissed her if that wasn’t the main event in a few minutes. “Your turn.” Ava said, soft and just for her, and Sara nodded, her heart suddenly beating a little faster. She dropped Ava’s hands, and pulled her notes out.
Another benefit of a jumpsuit – pockets.
“Well, I wrote these vows after you said we couldn’t elope and get married by Elvis -” Laughter rippled through the assembled crowd, and Sara felt her shoulders relax. “Ava - I don’t know what good I did in this life to deserve you. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve died, and I’ve lost my way so many times and I never thought I could find my way back, but with you – I know I can always find my way home.”
Ava smiled at her, tears on her cheeks, and Sara moved to hold her hand again.
“I love you. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know it’ll be okay, because you’ll be there with me. I’ll be here, for as long as you’ll have me.”
Ava nodded, beaming through her tears, and Nate pronounced them married, and Sara could finally kiss her, and the light came in, warm and true.
///
“If I’d known that Behrad was such a huge Celine Dion fan, I wouldn't have let him be the DJ.” Sara said, pressing herself closer to Ava to be heard over the music that was sounding through the ballroom. Ava laughed, the sound moving through her, and Sara held her wife a little tighter as they slow danced to Because You Loved Me. “You’d think a guy from 2042 would have better music taste.”
“This wouldn't be such a bad first dance.” Ava hummed, swaying gently. They'd tried to forgo as much formality as they could - speeches and a first dance included - but Sara had danced with her dad, and Ava had danced with him to in a move that made Sara cry for the tenth time that day.
“It’s sappy as hell.” Sara said, and Ava laughed again.
“You are sappy, you’ve cried so many times today.”
“Yeah, I’ve gotten soft.” Sara said, eyebrows knitting together, until Ava pressed a kiss there.
“That’s not a bad thing.” Ava hummed, and they stood there, swaying gently. “Your vows were soft.”
“Yeah, and now all my family and friends know I have feelings.” Sara said with a dramatic sigh. “You’ve really ruined my reputation.”
Ava shrugged, before moving backwards to spin Sara before catching her again. “I rather like that you have feelings.” Ava said softly, once Sara was safe in her arms again, and Sara melted into it just as the last beat of the song played across the room.
The moment was ruined when Behrad yelled, and Bootylicious started to play across the radio. Sara burst out laughing to see Zari had taken up position next to the speakers.
“Actually, I change my mind, this is our first dance.” Ava said, and Sara just laughed as the rest of the guests started to pour onto the dancefloor.

Trap of Love - Allegra Garcia x Lance!Fem!Reader
A/n: Just a little PSA, I don’t think Allegra is straight, she has queer vibes.
The first time Allegra saw you, you were next to Joe as she was caught trying to run from the dead eyewitness’ apartment. You used your powers to manipulate shadows to slow her feet down as Joe fire the dampener also known as the Boot at her leg. Her eyes lingered on you in your black leather jacket and black mask. The black lipstick on your lips almost reminded her of someone from the news years ago.
Black Siren.
You’d styled your alter-ego after her and the canaries. You were Laurel’s cousin afterall. Y/n Lance. Your father was Quentin’s brother before they both died, 10 years apart.
///
The second time Allegra saw you, you were standing in CCPD, trying to fight against her cousin, Esperanza. Ultraviolet had shut the lights off, giving you a stronger ability to sneak around and attack until you were hit by a wave of whatever it was from the electromagnetic spectrum. Whatever it was, it hurt like hell. You were blasted back, landing at the feet of Cecile, Joe and Allegra who looked shocked at the black shadows that was leaking off of you.
You swore under your breath as you saw Barry taking hits of ultraviolet light, slamming your hand into the ground to summon an army of shadows as a distraction. Allegra stared in shock at your determination, even when you were in pain and your powers equivalent of bleeding.
By the time Ultraviolet was down, you and the Flash were both lying on the ground, unconscious.
///
The next time Allegra saw you, you weren’t wearing you mask as you shadow-travelled directly into Iris’ office at the Central Citizen, not thinking anyone else would be there.
“Y/n!” Iris yelped, eyes going to Allegra who was staring at you.
“You’re-you’re the shadow woman?” Allegra questioned causing you to roll your eyes.
“It’s Dark Thorn, actually... but... Lance, Y/n, Lance. Pleasure to meet you Miss Garcia.” You replied, putting your hand out for Allegra to shake. She shook it, holding onto your hand for a little while longer causing you to smile slightly, glancing at your feet before Allegra cleared her throat.
“Allegra...”
“I know, kinda helped save you and Cecile from your cousin and all that...” You smirked causing Allegra to blush.
“Y/n. A word. Outside.” Iris demanded causing your eyes to widen, following her out.
You’d grown up knowing Iris and Barry even though you were a lot younger than them. You grew up next door to the West household with your parents before your father died. You lost your cousin, Laurel after that and then your uncle, Quentin. Your mother moved away from Central City to head to Coast City to retire whilst you had an apartment in Central still.
“Do you have no concept of a secret identity?” Iris questioned as the two of you headed outside Iris’ office.
“Seriously? The amount of people that know Barry is the Flash grows just about every week! Oliver literally outed himself as the Green Arrow! Besides, I trust her... she has a good heart.”
“Don’t you go crushing on my intern...” Iris began causing you to gasp.
“I never said I was crushing on her! She’s cute but... aw, crap...” You mumbled causing Iris to just shake her head with an amused smile as you slipped away into the shadows.
///
You leaned against Iris’ desk, crunching an apple as you, Iris and Cisco waited for Dr Harrison ‘Nash’ Wells to wake up.
“I’m Iris West-Allen, that’s Cisco Ramon and that is Y/n Lance.” Iris began but you faded out a little, staring at the weird device on Nash’s arm.
“Eternium...never heard of it, even in the shadow realm...” You added causing Cisco to pause. “You went to the shadow realm and didn’t take me?-”
“Cisco!” Iris exclaimed causing him to look away from you and back at Nash.
You grimaced as the smoke, covering your face with your hood before hearing a knocking. Allegra’s gaze hit yours before looking at Iris.
“Does she know about the multiverse?” Cisco asked causing Iris to wince. “She kinda does now...”
“Oop... I need to go...” You began but Iris’ hand on your shoulder stopped you as she directed you towards Allegra.
You sat down in one of the chairs as Allegra spoke to Iris. Her arms crossed. Your eyes lingered on her posture before changing your gaze to your hands, glaring at them slightly.
“Also, I quit.” You jumped up then, almost knocking your chair over when a shadow grabbed it and propped it back up.
“Allegra... just let me explain...” You began as Iris tried to persuage Allegra that it wasn’t what she thought.
“I thought you were better... you never lied to me.” Allegra stated causing you to look down at your feet momentarily.
“I’m not lying now or have I ever lied to you. Let me explain, it’s a complicated explanation but-”
“I’m sorry Y/n but I’m not wasting anymore time working for a liar.” Allegra apologised, walking out when Iris spoke.
“Y/n-”
You were gone into the shadows.
Allegra paused, staring at where you had stood before Iris spoke.
“When the time is right, I will tell you everything. I promise.”
///
“Or have my first birthday party. 30 years of existing and I’ve never had one!” You paused as you heard Frost shouting at Barry before your phone buzzed and you slipped into the shadows again.
///
Allegra saw you again at Frost’s birthday party that you invited her to at S.T.A.R. Labs. She avoided Iris but stayed with you, talking and dancing with you and Frost when she came over.
After Allegra left, Frost called you over to the rest of Team Flash were you got your heart broken.
Barry was going to vanish in Crisis and never come back.
///
You were napping on your couch at your apartment when you got a text from Allegra about Harrison Wells in Iris’ office at the Citizen. You yawned before rubbing your eyes, grabbing a piece of chewing gum and slipping into the shadows to travel to Iris’ office.
You frowned as you sarcastically knocked on the door causing Nash and Allegra to look at you.
“We got a problem here or do you usually point that device at young girls, Nash?” You questioned causing Nash to raise an eyebrow.
“Ah, hello, Dark Thorn, is it?” You just nodded, folding your arms to prevent your shadows from attacking.
"Okay, accerelant-”
“Allegra.” You and Allegra both interrupted causing Nash to just grimace, rolling his eyes.
“I’m doing a dig, alright? I need UV rays to complete my dig. You, according to my gauntlet, which is why I was pointing it at her, by the way, are a meta-human with UV capabilities. You see where I’m going here?” Nash proposed causing Allegra to frown.
“You want me to use my powers to help you?”
You phased out for a little until you realised what Nash was doing.
“Nash! I was going to tell her!”
“But you haven’t yet?” “It’s a complicated concept and I don’t know how to start!” You admitted causing Allegra to pause, turning back to look at you.
“Y/n...”
“I’m coming with you.” You affirmed causing Allegra to let out a breath and just nodded.
///
You were lurking in the shadows as you and Nash explained everything, using your shadow travel to avoid having to smell the sewers.
“-speedsters juggling dual identities like The Flash and Barry Allen.” Nash’s rambling as he crunched an apple caused you to let out a squeak, falling from the shadow on the ceiling of the sewer to barely not land on your head.
“Wait. What? My boss’ husband is The Flash. Why did you tell me?”
“Honestly, I told you my identity and Iris gave me an earful because I grew up next door to the West household. Like I said, people find out Barry’s secret identity just about every week...” You explained causing Allegra’s eyes to soften as she looked at you.
///
You watched as Allegra played with her hands, staring at the wall Nash wanted her to blast.
“I...I can’t...” Allegra’s voice crackled at this causing you to step forwards but Nash was already standing infront of her.
“It’s not who I am!” Allegra shouted before she ran away causing you to realise.
“Aw, shrap.” You whispered before running after her without shadow-travelling for once, leaving Nash to stand there in confusion.
///
“Hey...” You whispered as you found Allegra sat on some stairs.
“I’m sorry about back there...” Allegra whispered but you just shook your head, gently lacing your fingers with hers without you even realising you’d done it. Allegra’s eyes drifted from your entwined hands to your eyes.
“Tell me I’m wrong but this is about your cousin right?” You asked causing Allegra to tense. You just sighed, sipping your can of Fanta from your backpack.
“It was the same for me.” You admitted causing Allegra to frown. “What?”
My cousins... Laurel and Sara Lance... Laurel was the Star City Assistant District Attorney and the Black Canary by night then Sara left to captain a time-travelling ship whilst being the White Canary. My dad died in 2008 after I thought my cousin, Sara had died. We lost contact with that side of the family until 2013... Laurel was murdered by Damien Darhk in 2016 then my uncle, Quentin, Laurel and Sara’s father, was murdered in 2018 and I just wondered, how the hell do I be a hero when the people close to me keep dying? How can I ever be like the Black Canary as Dark Thorn? I got my powers the same way you did...”
“The particle accelerator explosion...” Allegra whispered, noticing how you’d teared up slightly.
“Barry and Iris didn’t know I had powers until Dark Thorn appeared. Laurel was dead and I was angry. I styled my alter-ago after the Black Canary costume but then Black Siren appeared and she changed, redeemed herself... she’s Laurel’s doppelganger from another Earth. I adapted my suit to include some darker tones because Dark Thorn right? Also my powers to manipulate shadows got stronger...” You paused, licking your lips as you realised you’d been rambling.
You didn’t notice how Allegra’s eyes drifted to your lips before she stared down at her ripped jeans.
“What I’m rambling on about is that you have to be your own person and own hero. You’re not Esperanza. Using your powers will not make you turn into Ultraviolet. Be your own hero. I didn’t take up the Black Canary mantle, instead, Dark Thorn exists. You’re your own person Allegra and in my eyes, you’re pretty flipping amazing.” You smiled, not seeing how Allegra was blushing more and more as you spoke.
 You were pretty damn oblivious.
///
You gasped as Allegra blasted the wall with UV light, hurrying to her as she held her knees, panting in exhuastion.
“Thank you, Y/n.” She whispered causing you to nod. “You’re welcome, Allegra.”
///
When you saw Allegra again, Nash had just left Iris’ office.
“Damn, already found one of my napping spots.” You joked causing Allegra to turn around to give you a look.
“Hey, Y/n.” She smiled causing you to smile back before you flopped into the end of the couch, pulling Allegra’s feet into your lap.
By the time Iris returned to her office, the two of you were asleep on the couch, causing her to smile before she snapped a photo and slipped out of her office and back down the hallway.
///
You were at S.T.A.R. Labs when Allegra was in Iris’ office, not getting a text until Iris asked you to be in the shadows on back-up for Team Citizen’s stake out.
You lingered in the shadow of the man’s car as Iris and Allegra approached him, all the talk sounded like you were in a fish bowl or underwater but you kept lingering, waiting in case Allegra or Iris were in any danger.
“Easy! I’ve got a taser!” Iris exclaimed causing the man to deadpan.
“And I’ve got a business card. Maelstrom Couriers, the premiere name in high-end transport.”
“Transporting what exactly?” You heard Iris ask but you just muttered under your breath. “Meta-humans?”
“That was a bust.”
“Yup.”
You manifested out of the shadows at that point, making Iris give you a confused look but you just shrugged, chewing the gum in your mouth before you began to walk besides the two of them.
///
“I’m gonna run an errand, you guys want anything or are you going to start working on the Crisis article for 2 days time yet?” You asked causing Iris to give you a look as you just shrugged, nudging Allegra in the ribs before you slipped off.
“She’s right, y’know...” Allegra muttered causing Iris to sigh.
“She usually is...”
///
“How did you-”
“Nash told me, Y/n was filling me in on multiverse stuff then he spat it out.” Allegra explained after you had gone.
///
You were munching on a veggie burger when you heard it. An explosion. You threw your rubbish in the bin before hurrying over to wear the crispy car was with the barbequed body inside.
“Holy shit.”
///
You stood at the car park, on the phone to Joe as the CCPD hurried over. You were still standing there when Allegra, Camilla and Iris turned up.
“So the guy you questioned was killed in the same lot you questioned him in, on the same day-” Camilla began but Iris paused, spotting you staring at the ground.
“Y/n?”
Allegra had a pin badge in her hand as she walked over to you.
“What do you see?” Iris asked causing Camilla and Allegra to frown.
“The shadows around here... the explosion... it was to kill someone off... that pin you’re holding...”
“There’s major UV energy coming off of it.”
“That’s why the shadows are off... UV energy is everywhere but it’s majorly focussed in that...” You whispered as Allegra nodded in agreement.
“Boss, this really seems like a job for-”
You coughed causing Allegra to frown, just raising your eyebrows and gesturing to Camilla.
“She knows already, doesn’t she?” Allegra deadpanned causing you to just nod, running your fingers through your hair.
“Yup.”
“Well boss, looks like Team Citizen has a new mission.” Allegra stated as the four of you turned around to dramatically look on at the remains of the car.
///
You were sat eating a veggie burger in a cafe that definitely wasn’t Big Belly Burger when you got a text about Barry being infected by Ramsay.
You managed to shove the remaining fries in your mouth before you threw money down on the table, apologising to Allegra in between your mouthful before hurrying to S.T.A.R. Labs.
Allegra sighed as she watched you hurry off, blushing as she saw you look back at her before slipping into the shadows to get to S.T.A.R. Labs.
///
You stood next to Frost as the two of you and Cisco waited for Iris to turn up. There was something up about Barry that gave you the creeps. A shiver running down your spine as Iris approached.
“Hey, guys. That’s not Barry.”
That was all Iris needed to say before the four of you turned to look at Barry who was looking at the monitors on the wall.
You jumped back as Cisco attempted to talk to Barry, staring in shock at work of Ramsay. Black goo stained Barry’s lips and his eyes were pure darkness as he growled at the four of you before zipping away in a flash.
Neither you or Frost, Iris or Cisco were able to dodge him, the four of you going flying as you slid across the floor, unconscious as the shadows formed a protective cocoon around you.
///
Allegra frowned at the weird text from you. You’d woken up from the ground of S.T.A.R. Labs and managed to crawl your way to Iris who helped you up.
“I’m going.” You stated causing Iris to just nod.
“Y/n, be careful.” You nodded back before slipping away into the shadows and out of S.T.A.R. Labs.
///
You let out a scream as you forced the shadows to rise and grab the zombies. Their hands went through you due to your density change before you heard Joe scream in pain.
You ran over to find Allegra and Frost with Joe before Frost opened a breach.
“We need to get the hell out of here. Let’s go!” Frost announced as the three of you helped Joe into the breach.
///
You stood next to Allegra as you watched Caitlin and Frost try to help Joe.
You paused as Allegra’s fingers brushed yours before you felt a burning in the back of your head.
The shadows. You frowned, something was wrong.
“But, I can’t do that.” Allegra stated but you shook your head.
“You can do anything, Allegra, you’re amazing like that.”
///
“I have an idea to get you to the pipeline quicker... you might feel a bit dizzy afterwards but...”
“You want me to travel through the shadows with you.” Allegra finished causing your eyes to widen.
“Um... so it sounded better in my head-”
“No, I’ll help... let’s go.” Allegra affirmed, offering you her hand.
You stared at it momentarily before taking it, allowing the shadows to take a hold as the two of you slipped through.
Everything was dark to Allegra and her hearing was muffled but she felt something there too. A presence. Or several. The shadows... were alive?
She gasped as the two of you resurfaced outside the pipeline, Frost standing there with Cisco as Iris held a blaster over Ramsay then Barry.
“When I open this door, I need you to hit these particles with all the UV rays you’ve got.” Cisco instructed, Allegra nodded, glancing at you as you let out a breath, about to speak but you sided against it.
“You got this, don’t hold back.” Frost cheered causing Allegra to nod before she looked at you, pausing as she heard the shadows whisper.
“I believe in you.”
“One rotation left... NOW!” Cisco shouted, you stepped forwards slightly as Allegra yelled, rays of UV energy flowing from her hands and directly into the pipeline.
You didn’t exactly expect a light purple blast to fly out, over everyone before heading out to heal the city.
You froze as Iris lingered over Barry, trying to wake him up. His eyes were dark before they drifted to their normal colour.
“Hey, where’s the scary guy who tried to kill us all?” Frost asked making you huff.
“He won’t get far.” Barry stated, zipping away with his usual yellow lightning.
///
You leaned against the desk as Allegra sat on it, watching Team Flash converge and discuss what had gone on.
“Thank you for what you did, you saved the city.” Barry thanked Allegra who just smiled.
“Right back at ya, but you should really thank Frost and Dark Thorn... they got me there...” Allegra smiled, nudging you in the ribs as you smiled at the ground, cheeks flushing red.
///
You sat on the other side of Iris, staring at your trainers before you felt the ache in your head again.
You stood up, causing everyone to look at you before Barry’s watch glowed red. The skies and the shadows then joined it, causing you to rub your forehead.
Crisis was here.
///
The last time you saw Allegra on Earth 1, the two of you were standing together, you were shaking, a pain in your head like you’d never felt as Allegra took your hand.
It was then an idea hit you.
Shadows never stopped existing, no matter what earth you were on.
You slipped into the shadows as the anti-matter wave hit, taking Allegra with you.
///
The first time you saw Allegra on Earth Prime, the two of you woke up on the couches in Iris’ office for the Citizen.
“What the hell?” You whispered, rubbing your ears as they rang slightly. Allegra groaned, throwing her arm over her eyes.
“Now I get why you don’t stay in the shadows for the long-term.” She remarked, coughing slightly.
“Yeah... something’s changed... I don’t think we’re on Earth 1 anymore...” You whispered causing Allegra to frown.
“What do you mean?”
“Let’s just find Iris and Barry... when I get the feeling back in my legs.” You stated as Allegra’s eyes widened as she tried to stand up.
“Honestly, same.”
///
You both were heading to S.T.A.R. Labs when your phoness went crazy causing Allegra to frown.
“Someone’s trying to rob Jitters?”
“It’s around the corner, let’s go!” Allegra stated causing you to nod, the two of you jogging over to the coffee shop as lightning flew past.
“Barry’s on his way there.” You panted, the two of you arriving as the Flash had tied up the robber. Barry just nodded at the two of you before he zipped off.
By the time the two of you got to S.T.A.R. Labs on foot, Cisco had filled out a whiteboard with a map of Earth Prime.
“Huh, Chicago and Gotham are kinda in the same place...” You mumbled under your breath making Cisco just let out a noise of exasperation.
“Exactly!”
///
You were lingering in the shadows of Iris’ office as Iris, Allegra, Camilla and Cecile set to work looking into Black Hole.
“Whose now crispier than the chicken strips Allegra insists on ordering for dinner-” Camilla deadpanned causing you to slip out of the shadows momentarily.
“Better than your vegan donuts.” Allegra stated, her gaze catching yours before you walked over to the crime board.
There was something weird about Black Hole. You just weren’t sure what as you turned around, making direct eye contact with Allegra as she took a sip from her hot drink.
///
“This is a cause for celebration.” Allegra stated, holding a bottle of champagne.
“Ooh-” Iris cooed before Camilla interrupted.
“Are you even 21?” You chuckled at that, rolling your eyes as you sipped on a lemonade.
“I’d hold off on the balloons and bubbly. McCulloch Tech just sent a memo. They’re suing the Citizen for defamation.”
You blanked out what Cecile was saying as the shadows began to whisper, Allegra’s focus flying to you as you stared at the window, grimacing in pain for a moment.
“Y/n?”
“Iris, something’s not right.” Cecile sensed but Allegra had just stepped towards you, her hand on your forearm.
“Everybody down!” Cecile yelled causing Allegra to pull you down to the ground as the other three dropped, staring at the bullet in the wall.
Your arms wrapped around Allegra, listening to Iris tell everyone to head to S.T.A.R. Labs. Allegra frowned, about to ask what you were doing before you pulled her into the shadows, the two of you landing on the floor of S.T.A.R. Labs moments later.
You let out a groan your back hit the floor, Allegra on top of you. You blushed as Allegra’s nose brushed yours before the two of you got up off the floor. Cisco paused, staring at the tow of you before Camilla turned up.
“Are you okay?” Nash questioned, walking straight over to Allegra, Allegra ducking behind you slightly before you just sighed, looking over at the whiteboard.
“A CRISIS YOU STARTED!”
“Which did nothing for the people who died. Oliver. Harry. Jesse. An infinite number of Harrison Wells and we’re stuck with the one who killed the Multiverse.” You grimaced at that, rubbing your eyes as Cisco just turned to Camilla.
///
“So we’ve got a brand new, more powerful, murder-happy, Dr Light on our hands, courtesy of Earth-fracking Prime.” You just sighed, giving Cisco a look before your eyes went to Iris’ crispy arm.
“I’m fine- I said I’m fine-” Iris began to say before she fainted into the arms of Allegra and Camilla.
“Call Frost, now!”
///
You stepped out of the shadows to back up Frost to take down the new Dr Light. Joe had his shotgun and you were ready to submerge Dr Light in shadows as Frost held her ice daggers.
You didn’t know Allegra was chewing her thumbnail out of worry for both Iris and you.
“Weapon, down. Now!” Joe demanded before a plate got thrown at him causing you and Frost to begin your deadly dance of shadows and ice.
You yelled in shock as Frost took a bullet, using the shadows to hold Dr Light out of rage as you turned to look at Frost.
Your eyes widened as you watched Frost’s eyes glow and the bullet hole react before she pulled the bullet from her collar bone.
She was about to try aim for Frost’s head causing you to react, about to swoop in.
“Screw you.” Frost whispered, not realising how the shadows were gently surrounding her, ready to pull her into their protective husk.
The ringing phone made you release Dr Light’s arm, allowing her to answer.
You gasped as the shadows hold automatically shattered and you landed on your butt.
“That’s it? You’re just leaving?” Frost exclaimed, still leaning on the piano.
“I follow orders.”
///
“So what do you want to watch?” You asked Allegra who shrugged, crunching a piece of popcorn as she glanced around your apartment. Turns out Earth Prime you lived in a nicer apartment which you found weird until you read your phone messages.
“Freaky Friday?” You suggested causing Allegra to pause.
“Yeah sure, can we also watch the Harry Potter series sometime?” Allegra questioned causing you to nod before the doorbell went.
“Delivery is here, your chicken strips await.” You teased causing Allegra to roll her eyes, blushing slightly as you shadowed over to the door to get the delivery.
///
You woke up and Allegra had already left to go get changed and head into work. You’d curled up on the couch where you’d slept, groaning as you saw what date was coming up.
February 14th.
That made you roll over and bury your face in your couch.
///
“You know it’s my understanding that there are two types of people who hate Valentines day...” Frost began, causing Allegra to just internally groan.
She was looking into Emerson Fairweather because she missed him but she didn’t have feelings for him anymore. Not like Frost would believe her though.
“Cupid demands it.” Frost stated before walking off, Allegra staring in shock that Frost didn’t have a decent gaydar.
“What?”
///
You were walking past Jitters when you saw Allegra and Frost inside. A smile crept its way onto your face before it fell into the depths of the earth’s mantle. Allegra was heading over to see Emerson. Of course she was.
You just frowned, turning on your heel before walking away to find something to do. Where was everyone? West-Allen were busy, Frost was with Allegra, Ralph had disappeared and it seemed like everyone was conveniently busy.
So you slipped into the shadows and left Central City, heading for the place that brought up bad memories but you went either way. Post-Crisis, this reality was different to what your memories held.
“Hey, uncle Quentin.”
“Y/n? It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
///
You didn’t know Frost had seen how you stormed away from Jitters after seeing Allegra head over to Emmerson before that girl approached instead.
You spent that day in Star City, barely texting Allegra back.
///
“Look, I’m sorry about Jitters. I know you meant well but-” Allegra began, placing her phone back on the table after trying to see if you’d replied.
“No, I’m sorry. Look, my life coach made my life better. I was just trying to pay it forwards. I probably should’ve gotten the whole story about your break-up, before trying to intervene.” Frost apologised, glancing up at Allegra who had her arms crossed.
“I guess I haven’t exactly been an open book with anyone but Y/n. But she’s in Star City right now for some reason... anyway...”
Frost frowned for a moment before letting it go. “Why don’t you start from page one?”
“After I got out of Iron Heights, I wanted to take a shot at living a normal, non-meta life. That’s when I met Emerson. We became friends. Then we went on a few dates. Had some laughs...but it ran its course so I dropped it.”
“You ghosted him?” Frost raised an eyebrow at this, causing Allegra to sigh, staring at the disintegrated wall.
“You didn’t want him to find out you were a meta.”
“I could barely handle my powers back then... it wouldn’t work. Y/n was the only one who supporetd me and understood me for who I was. Now she’s ghosting me in Star City to see family she barely sees due to bad memories.”
“Y/n also saw us in Jitters and saw you approach Emerson...” Frost admitted causing Allegra to blanch.
“But Y/n knows about what happened and that I don’t... I’ll have to talk to her when she gets back. But whatever I had with Emerson, he probably hates me now for ghosting him.” Allegra stated, chewing the inside of her cheek as she finished speaking. “You don’t know that, you’ve been filling in the blanks without the facts. Coming clean to Emerson might make you feel a lot better, who knows you might even get a friend out of it.” Frost left emphasis on friend as she made a mental note to call you and ask you something.
“But you can’t just assume that life happens in black and white, because life happens in the grey and you need to get out there and live in it.”
///
You stood outside the arena with Zoe who you were babysitting as Rene was busy with his president campaign and Dinah was long gone so she couldn’t babysit. Quentin had told Rene that you’d do it, taking Zoe to see the Hex Girls at the Star City arena.
“Which song is your favourite? I like Earth, Wind, Fire and Air.” Zoe asked causing you to smile at her. “Trap of Love or Hex Girl, honestly. Who Do Voodoo is a good one to start with though, seeing the set list.” You explained, showing Zoe your phone. “Someone called Allegra is really trying to talk to you.” Zoe stated causing you to sigh.
“I know... I’m not ready to talk to her yet... think of it as Trap of Love but the person you like is trying to get back with their ex... so they’re oblivious of your feelings for them...”
“Why don’t you just talk to them?”
“I don’t know how... hey, the line’s moving, let’s go get a decent view.”
///
“I said sorry for ghosting him; told him why. He accepted my apology.” Allegra explained to Frost. “So he’s fine with you being a meta?” Frost asked causing Allegra to grimace.
“He wanted to give us another shot but I told him I’d rather be friends... also turns out his new drummer is bioluminscent.” Allegra explained, making Frost mumble under her breath.
“He wants me to look at his new lyrics before he goes on stage, his band are being eyed to open for the Hex Girls next year.” Allegra stated causing Frost to pause.
“That’s ironic, the Hex Girls are Y/n’s favourite band. Probably why she’s in Star City... maybe she wanted to ask you to go with her but she saw you with Emerson... well, I don’t know, you two can talk when Y/n gets back.” Frost suggested, noticing how Allegra chewed her lip at the mention of you.
 “Thanks for all your help with the grey life stuff. It’s exactly what I needed to hear.”
“You’re welcome. Although I can’t take all the credit, a friend of mine gave me that advice.”
“Well, tell them thanks too, they may not know me, but they get me.” Allegra smiled before heading out of Jitters.
She’d gotten back to her apartment when her phone began to go nuts. You’d posted on Instagram.
You’d posted several pictures with Zoe before some videos of you and Zoe mouthing the lyrics to Hex Girls songs including Trap of Love, Hex Girl and It’s A Mystery. The two of you were dancing to Who Do Voodoo in a video too.
A final photo set had been uploaded of you and Zoe in Hex Girls merch. There was one photo that took Allegra’s attention. Or the quote under it.
“With this little cobweb potion, you’ll fall into dark devotion, if you ever lose affection, I will change your whole direction...”
“Damn... she’s put a spell on me alright...” Allegra grumbled into her pillow.
///
You sighed as you collapsed on your uncle’s couch. Your phone lying on the coffee table before you reached out to grab it. Clicking the lockscreen on, you smiled at the photo you got of the Hex Girls performing before unlocking your phone and staring at the selfie you’d taken with Allegra.
“Beware the trap of love...” you whispered under your breath before dropping your phone on the table and allowing sleep to overtake you.

Dinah fussed with the shirt she was wearing. It was a beautiful deep purple blouse with a low cut, but as she stared at herself in the mirror, it didn't seem right. She shook her head as she tore it off and flung it over the open door of her wardrobe. Then, she turned around and looked at the other shirts that she had scattered around the room. She was never this fussy about what she wore, but tonight was different. Tonight was special and she wanted to look good because she knew that Laurel would remember what she wore for the rest of their lives.
“Hey, babe can you help me with this bracelet,” Laurel asked, interrupting her thoughts as she came out of the bathroom. She looked as stunning as ever in a black tank top with a little bit of lace at the top accompanied by a red velvet suit jacket.
“Yeah,” Dinah said as Laurel held out her wrist with a black diamond bracelet as Dinah fastened it around her wrist.
“As much as I love the sight of you in that bra, I think it's a little too scandalous for dinner with my father,” Laurel said with a teasing smile as she stared at Dinah's chest.
“I'm not finished getting ready, just give me a minute,” Dinah said, putting on a smile. She tried to take a deep breath and calm her nerves. Looking back at the wardrobe, which held lots of pretty blouses but none of what she wanted.
“What's wrong, you're never this nervous? The last time you were worried about dinner with Quentin was when we told him we were dating,” Laurel said as she went over and sat on the bed, grabbing one of the blouses and tossing it away.
“It's nothing,” Dinah said, brushing her off as she tried to look through the racks of blouses as if the right blouse would suddenly appear to her.
“Babe, relax,” Laurel said as she came up to her and put a hand on her shoulder as Dinah looked back at her. “Why don't you wear this?”
Laurel pulled out a dark blue blazer with silver buttons and a white blouse. It was practical, yet elegant. Dinah didn't know why she didn't think of it before as she smiled and accepted the clothes from Laurel.
“Thank you,” Dinah said as she hung up the jacket and quickly changed into the blouse.
“Yeah, well, I've got to make sure my girl looks nice when she proposes to me,” Laurel said with a smirk as she sat back down on the bed.
Dinah whipped her head around as she stared at her. “How did you find out?”
She had been so careful to keep this secret from Laurel. She had asked Quentin for his blessing to marry Laurel a month ago. Then she had gone ring shopping with Sara and sworn her to secrecy. Since then, Sara had kept the ring with her on the Waverider. She knew that they would keep it a secret and no one else knew. She couldn’t imagine how Laurel had found out about it.
“I have my ways,” Laurel said, not elaborating as she just smiled. “So, how is this all supposed to go down tonight?”
“How do you know that it's tonight?” Dinah asked, putting on the blazer and smoothing it out as she smirked back at her.
“Oh please, Dinah. You've tried on ten different shirts, five different jackets, and you keep muttering to yourself about how it has to be perfect. You're definitely proposing tonight,” Laurel said with a wide smile and Dinah could see the gleam of excitement in her eyes. “So when we go to dinner will the ring come in the champagne glass or on top of the dessert?”
“Neither actually,” Dinah said with a smile as she walked over to sit next to Laurel on the bed.
She reached out and took Laurel’s hand, smiling down at it and admiring her empty ring finger, knowing that her ring would soon be on Laurel’s hand. There was no use in trying to keep it from her now. Laurel would annoy her until she told her and Dinah was excited to share her plan.
“After dinner, I was going to take you to the rooftop….”
“A rooftop proposal, very fitting for us,” Laurel said with a smirk.
“Don't interrupt!” Dinah scolded her.
Laurel sealed her lips shut and pretended to zip them up and throw away the key. Dinah rolled her eyes but continued. “It’s a good view of the city and I knew you’d like it. There I would get down on one knee and tell you that despite how much I hated you when we first met, I somehow fell in love with you because I got to know and love the real Laurel. Then I would ask you to marry me.”
Laurel blushed and looked down at their hands with a soft smile. “Just so you know, I would say yes.”
“You would?” Dinah asked, and she could feel her heart swell as her smile grew.
“Of course,” Laurel said with a smile that was filled with happiness. “So why don't you give me the ring now and we can surprise everyone at dinner instead?”
Dinah hesitated, as happy as she was to hear Laurel say yes and want to wear her ring. However, she was still a little disappointed that she didn't get to go through with her plan. “No, let me propose to you tonight.”
“Do I have to?” Laurel asked, teasing her with a roll of her eyes.
“Yes,” Dinah insisted as she reached out and put her hands on Laurel’s waist, tickling her as Laurel let out a roar of laughter.
“Alright, fine,” Laurel said, giving up as they both fell back onto the bed.
Laurel wrapped her arms around Dinah’s neck and pulled her in for a kiss. They let themselves get lost in each other's lips. Dinah tasted the sweet cherry chapstick on Laurel’s lips as she kissed them and claimed them as hers. Laurel’s hands moved down to her waist and sneaked up her blouse before Dinah pulled back.
“We don't have time,” Dinah said, pulling back and glancing at her watch.
“We'll make time,” Laurel said as she tried to pull her back onto the bed.
“No, let's get going,” Dinah said as she pulled away and got up from the bed. She knew that if she didn't get away from Laurel's talented hands she would pull her back in and they would be in bed all night.
“Fine, but you better make it worth my while tonight,” Laurel said as she let Dinah pull her up from the bed and out to the living room as they grabbed their things to head out the door.
“Trust me, it'll be worth it.”
Dinah found that she wasn't as nervous as before, leading Laurel up to the rooftop. She was a little bit relieved that Laurel found out about her proposal before they went to dinner. It allowed her to relax and not worry about the proposal, but rather she enjoyed her time with Laurel, and soon-to-be her, family. Although, Sara giggled the entire time and Ava was awkwardly avoiding any talk of marriage, despite their own recent nuptials. The only person who behaved was Quentin, although just before they slipped out, he gave them both a knowing wink and said, ‘good luck.’
As they climbed up the fire escape, Dinah looked back at Laurel. She meant Dinah's eyes as they excited smiles. As she stepped onto the rooftop Dinah looked back and offered Laurel her hand, pulling her off the fire escape. She pulled her in as they both stood on the rooftop and turned around as the light turned on.
Laurel let out a little gasp as she saw what Dinah had set up. She had lit up the rooftop garden with an assortment of fairy lights and there was soft music playing from the stereo. She had set it all up earlier and she smiled too at how perfect it looked. Like a perfect and romantic rooftop garden, just like she intended it to be.
She grabbed Laurel’s hand and led her to the middle of the garden. Laurel just smiled before they both looked up at the stars above them. It wasn't the dingy rooftops that they knew so well as heroes of the city, but rather a calm, quiet romantic getaway. She gripped the box in her pocket before she turned to Laurel. Then she looked deep into her sky blue eyes before taking her hand as she got down on one knee.
“Dinah Laurel Lance, from the moment I met you when you first crossed into this world, I absolutely hated you.”
Laurel scoffed and rolled her eyes as if she was about to open her mouth and say something before Dinah cut her off.
“Let me finish!” Dinah insisted as Laurel closed her lips and smiled at her before she continued.
“I hated you so much that I thought we could never get past it. Yet, here we are. Not because of our own doing, but because of yours. You have changed into a better person than the woman I first met. You're still snarky and sometimes rude, but you are also kind and caring. You’ve turned your life around. You've learned to care for those around you. You've regained your family, for who I know you care for, deeply. You've become my partner in life and in our work. I know that you always have my back. Whenever we’re on a rooftop together, I think about you and how far you've come. I think about how much I love you and how much I love protecting this city and occasionally the world with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to wake up to you, and I want to stand on rooftops next to you before we crawl back into bed at dawn. I love you so much Laurel, so will you do all of this with me? Will you marry me?”
She opened the box to reveal the simple silver band with a black diamond set in it. That way, Laurel could wear it when they went out at night for their nighttime activities as Black Canaries. She figured the black diamond would be perfect for that as well.
The second she saw it, Laurel’s eyes lit up as a smile spread across her face and she grinned in excitement. She didn't hesitate in her reply as she said. “Yes!”
Dinah let out a nervous breath as she let herself smile too. Then she slipped the ring onto Laurel's hand. Laurel pulled away to admire it for a minute, grinning widely before she looked back at Dinah. Then pulled her up and in as their lips crashed together. Kissing Laurel was like kissing with fireworks. There was excitement and that electric rush that Dinah loved. She could have kissed Laurel forever that night on the rooftop, but they were pulled apart by the cheers and clapping of their family and friends.
They popped out from where they had been hiding, bringing champagne and glasses and congratulations. It wasn't just Sara, Ava, and Quentin, it was also Oliver, Felicity, John, Roy, Thea, Curtis, Renee, and Lyla, as well as all of the kids and several other close super friends. Laurel surprised Dinah by wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her in for a kiss in front of all their friends and family. She was never one for public displays of affection, but now she publicized their engagement by kissing Dinah and holding out her hand, showing off the ring as all the girls came up to admire it.
Dinah found that her cheeks were hurting because of how wide she was smiling, but she didn't dare stop. She was overwhelmed with happiness as Renee thrust a champagne glass into her hand and made a toast to them and their engagement. Dinah barely heard their words. All she could focus on was Laurel and how her smile was as big as her own and the way her eyes sparkled.
Laurel caught her staring, of course, and took a second to look over at her, staring into her eyes. Then, she leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss against her lips before pulling back and leaning her forehead against Dinah’s, creating a small intimate moment between them despite the party around then.
“I love you,” Laurel whispered, closing her eyes as her dark lashes fluttered against her cheeks before she placed another delicate kiss to Dinah's lips.
“I love you too, and I can't wait to marry you,” Dinah said as she closed her eyes and kissed Laurel again.
The rest of the crowd cheered and pulled them back into the party, where they celebrated for the rest of the night. Dinah kept Laurel close with one arm around her waist. They shared tiny little excited looks between the two of them throughout the night and Dinah couldn't wait to make this woman her wife.
