I think we need to seriously start thinking about what's going to happen next June. Unless a miracle happens, we're not going to be casually hated during pride like we will be for the rest of the year (queer marriages are looking to be dissolved, brands are already removing queer content creators from their pool of influencers, "visible queerness" gains more harassment than we have in YEARS). Next June we will be front and centre as people to target. And I think planning of some sort, protests, parades, or even just a co-ordinated boycot of some sort, will do wonders to our response to it. We will be safer if we have something, anything, in place. We will have numbers to blend into.
We better fight next Pride month, or we'll get one whether we like it or not.

When I identified as a trans man, I was a trans man. When I identified as a vampire cat in the third grade, I was a vampire cat. When I identified as genderfluid, I was genderfluid. And as I now identify as queer, I’m a damn queer even if I’m not next year.
“what if kids identify with something and it ends up just being a phase-?” good. stop teaching and expecting kids (and adults honestly) to formulate permanent traits and ideas of themselves. everything in life is a phase. that doesn’t make it any less legitimate while you experience it. let people explore themselves and know it’s okay if what you think about yourself changes.

Also, adding on as a non-binary person, labels like ftm are actually validating.
The idea that anything before your current identity must not be spoken about about is not only idiotic, but also damaging.
I DON’T HATE THE GIRL I USED TO BE. Most of my life has been spent as her, and she was the one made the friends I have and learned the things I know and lived the experiences I now cherish. I’m not going to delete or renounce all of that.
Erasure of past identity does not make your current one more secure, it simply deprives you of your past and roots.
And, as others have said, gender changes. You can’t live at the risk of having to completely erase parts of your life at the drop of a dime.
don't use "ftm" it's outdated and offensive. it implies that the trans person was their agab, which we never were. i was always a boy, never a girl who became a boy.
i'm 35 years old. i've been IDing as trans or something similar to trans for nearly 20 years. i was probably calling myself FTM while you were playing tag during recess, anon.
i WAS a girl. i IDed as a girl early in my life. i recognized myself as a girl, called myself a girl, lived as a girl, and was a girl. who then IDed as a man. hence, F t M.
spend more time worrying about yourself instead of strangers on the internet, anon.
sorry not sorry if this comes off as needlessly hostile, but i've been getting a lot of shit from a lot of teenage trans kids about the language i use to describe my own goddamn experience, and i'm growing real fuckin weary of it.
i have elder trans friends who call themselves transsexuals and transvestites and trannies. are you going to seriously go to a 60-year-old trans person who survived the reagan years and tell her she's not allowed to use certain language to describe herself because it might offend the delicate sensibilities of some teenager on the internet?
do yourself a favor and log off, find some real-life trans people who are over the age of 20 or 25, and spend time talking to them instead of getting all holier-than-thou at random strangers on tumblr.
