All Things Go Festival.

All things go, if you must get philosophical about it. All things must pass, in the words of the Buddhist maxim. This is none more true of the summer, as warmth and sun give way to these chilly weeks, these spookiest of seasons. But the end of summer needn't mean the end of the festival season, so @allthingsgofestival went and did just that: they hosted a music festival. Just this weekend. In both September and October. It was full of female performers. It was queer as hell. Totally bonkers. It scarcely seems possible. It defies belief.

Well, believe it, and believe it well: all things must pass, and all things will. You, I, sunlight, suffering, the online wastelands themselves. But before they do, why not enjoy a good thing while it's there and get the likes of @lanadelrey, @mothercain, @listentomaggie, and @alvvaysto in one space for a weekend of live music? The place being the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, and the place being @allthingsgofestival. We were there. It was the very best of things. And we have some highlights for you—such as this image, one of many, of Lana Del Rey lyrics that decorated backstage.

The best queer country festival!

Today’s blog is not about books or writing. Instead, I want to share news about our time in Daylesford for the Chill Out Festival, a queer event in rural Victoria which has been running for twenty-eight years. We attended this year. It’s one of several such festivals which follow the Sydney Mardi Gras in March, so tourists can continue to party elsewhere in Australia. A friend went two years ago…

US-based folks who love queer film - the 2024 lineup for newfest (the new york lgbtq+ film festival) was posted today! if you're not in new york city but you live in the US, i'd recommend checking out virtual tickets and passes. almost all of the films have options to stream virtually - it's $14.50 to rent one film (or one block of short films) and $99 for a virtual pass, which gives you access to all of the films available to stream virtually for the duration of the festival (october 10-22). i know that's a bit more pricey than most options to rent or watch films online, but i think it's worth it to help support independent queer cinema. plus you could have a watch party with all your friends and you all could pool your money together so you could have a little film festival at home! i've seen really incredible films at this festival in the past and i just want to share this wonderful opportunity with all of you!
