I love seeing all the tumblr Christians gushing over Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde.
I think it was the first time in a little while since we felt represented in the media.

Reminder that home alters and prayer corners don't need to be extravagant permanent fixtures. I do my daily prayers at my nightstand and then put away my candles and prayer books, because my space is too small for any surface to have only a single purpose. The important part is making the time to pray and study when possible.

My priest (gay) literally brought this up in a sermon. Pointing to his ornate chasible like, "This is drag, actually!" Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are right, once again.
Priest robes are drag to me

Every time I have ever found God it has been from a group of outsiders.
Every picture of God that has ever looks like him has been made by people who never saw a Jesus that looked like themselves
I have never felt more at home than when listening to a gay person talk about God. I have never understood someone better than the lesbian Catholics who love to veil, or the transgender episcoples who see their transition as an opportunity to share in God's creation, or anyone who found God and then carved their own way to him.
When I sit in chapel, and the worship music feels like noise, I know there is a hymn being sung with a shaking voice that sounds just like Christ calling out for his father. When I see lessons written in script, I know there are sheets of construction paper printed in stock fonts on a family's kitchen table sent home from Sunday school teaching the same. When I get a hand out with Bible verses bought from Amazon, I know that someone has written the same verse in craft glue and collage and their blood.
I think God is present the most when the process of finding him is distinctly human; because I think he knows us, and makes the way he finds us human.

i'm not even sure that i believe in God, but i started going to this episcopal church recently bc there were just so many older gay people there and i felt like i needed that in my life and there was a gay priest. people were actually so chill about me being trans, which shocked me, but i figured there were just humoring me - but this past sunday the priest did a sermon on the story in acts about the Ethiopian eunuch. and like, i've heard a thousand sermons on this passage bc its like the first missionary story and people use it a lot to justify their colonization blah blah blah but like everyone glossed over the eunuch thing.
but the (straight) priest talked about how eunuch is a kind of stand in word for gender non-conforming person and actually literally said from the pulpit that we should be welcoming and accepting of all trans people and not ask them to change and !?!?!?! like i never expected to hear that preached in my lifetime, especially in fucking kentucky.
the world can seem so dark and being trans is fucking hard and you just come to expect so little from people ESPECIALLY chrisitans and i'm just so pleasantly surprised. it's just kind of amazing to see chrsitians live up to this loving their neighbor shit they are always talking about

See the issue is that I agree with most things the Orthodox believe theologically, but I love a good Catholic saint and Advent celebration. I guess that makes me a modern Anglican.

There is something deeply funny to me about the fact that, of people who pray the rosary (at least in the United States); the Catholics tend to be super conservative, and the Episcopalians/Anglicans tend to be gay.

Queer Christians are some of the most devout I know.
Tumblr media
I see them are church unabashedly being themselves. I see their cries and posts here. I see how just a bit of love can change their lives forever. I see how they yearn to be with God that they were always were told hated them. But really Loves them 100 percent. I know God cares about us. We the meek, and the marginalized, those whom society has deemed inpure. We are purified, sanctified by Baptism, by Gods Grace, by forgiveness. By Love. We are no worse or no less then cis-het people. God is close to us because we are close to him. Let no man tell you otherwise, for such despondent thoughts are whims of the enemy. Even a priest can fall for them. We will get through this coming storm that is the future together. Hold Fast to hope in Jesus Christ. Bow down to no man walking on this earth. Remember the Gospel truth. For He is close to us. Do your best, even if you are tired. Pray when you can. Take your time this advent to rest. For the coming of the lord is swiftly near, and the kingdom of Heaven is at hand. By the Prayers of our Holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ Protect us and redeem us. Amen.

He has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God? (‭‭‭Micah‬ ‭6‬‬:‭8‬ ‭NRSVUE‬‬)

As a queer Christian I have a lot of feelings about personally wearing cross jewelry because I do not want to be associated with being hateful. I call myself Episcopalian (my denomination) far more than Christian because the word Christian makes me feel like I belong to a group of individuals who hate an important part of my identity. Episcopalians are affirming and have been affirming since the 70s. I have often felt judged and silenced in Christian spaces for being queer, but I have never felt judged for being queer in Episcopalian spaces, I have always felt celebrated and equal. I hesitate to where cross jewelry because I want to be a safe person for as many people as possible and although my faith is an integral part of my identity, I feel that the traditional symbol of my faith (a cross) identifies me as an assumed to be unsafe person for a lot of people.

Any other Christians know of any non-evangelical/conservative Christian resources for those struggling with depression and/or suicidal ideation? It's be nice to have that kind of support for my mental health.
Even any favorite Bible verses or quotes from saints and holy people would be nice. 🙏

Me, trying to figure out if I'm actually evil or not:
The Lord: my child, I created you out of love and a desire to love. I have held you before, and I am holding you now. If only you knew. My child, I have already healed you.

Welcome, sibling! 🙏🏻❤️
My name is E, I use they/it/he/she pronouns, and I am 26 years old! I'm a current art history major at university, and I have a special interest in religion!
I am always a spiritual seeker and have been pagan for ~9 years now. I am interested in eclectic and syncrectic faiths, especially Christopagan and Ozark folk practices.
I do have a set of non-negotiable beliefs: I am an omnist/pluralist (all paths are equally valid and ultimately lead to God/s), a panentheist, (God/s are in the world and transcend it) and universalist (all will be reconciled to God/s). I am very much going down a heterodox/heretical path, as I am interested in Christianity from a polytheistic perspective! I also have interests in process and liberation theology, as well as queer theology.
DNI: TERFs/radfems and debate-bros or proselytizers. I'm not here to debate my religion or my existence, I'm here to worship my God/s and learn. I'm pro-autonomy all the way - people can make their own decisions on what is best for them and I respect that, and I expect others to do the same.
