In the early 1900s, the nation of Aetheri came out of its long interdimensional isolation and revealed to the humans of the Symphony Archipelago that they were not alone in the multiverse. Things swiftly got ugly after that. In the early 1990s, Aetheri’s leadership changed, and in the Archipelago, a tiny broken family of half-siblings banded together in the face of the bile and hate that was boiling up between the humans and the non-humans. In the early 2000s, that family was split apart. Hawk Press and his sister Liya Kiski both begin a long journey towards understanding the difference between friend and enemy–and between the family you’re given, and the family you make.

I think ultimately if DC had Pride in the 90s we would have been given some of the most bold and compelling meaningful queer stories compared to today bc DC is a simpering coward about this. I love how we're in a time period where never before we have had such diversity, but the cost is hypersanitization doubled with feeling patronized at multiple turns.

I don't like feeling talked down to in any story, even more so in stories that are supposed to celebrate Pride.

Listen I love agathario as much as the next gay but it’s simply incorrect to say ‘this show was supposed to be about agathario why is there so much focus on billy :((’

The show was never marketed that way — all the trailers very much focus on Agatha and Billy. Also, the way shows/movies handle press tells you everything. Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke have been doing the most press and are paired together for junkets — they are the main characters of the show. Aubrey Plaza and Patti Lupone have also been doing a fair amount of press (though less than Kathryn and Joe) and they are paired together for junkets — they’re the most famous (aka highest billed) SECONDARY characters. Sasheer Zamata, Debra Jo Rupp, and Ali Ahn have done almost no individual press and were paired together for junkets — they are the rest of the secondary cast.

I also want more development for Agathario, but we’ve gotta stop assuming that just because a storyline or character is introduced early on it means that the show is going to center around that story or character. It’s just bad media consumption.

The show is very clearly about Agatha and Billy, their relationship, and their respective journeys of self-actualization (which are obviously set up to mirror each other). Agathario is at best a B plot.

And for a moment, we were infinite.

They had a plan to save eachother, so Caro kicked it into motion and saved up all the dollars they could from the beauty pageants and teen magazine photo shoots, at least what their parents didn’t pocket first, and finally bought the Datsun. And he was SO SO proud of them. Hope comes in the shape of a getaway car.

Too bad life has other plans sometimes.
