Who's best boy in RWBY & why?
For me? Oscar. No contest.
So often in media I see characters that are "realists" portrayed as pessimistic or cynical. I also see characters who put their faith in others portrayed as overly innocent or naive. But Oscar is different.
He's the first to acknowledge how bad things are. He doesn't sugarcoat things. But he doesn't choose to trust others despite the reality of the situation, he does so because of it.
He knows that trusting others is a risk, but he takes that risk not because he's naive and doesn't comprehend the evils of this world, but because he has to take that risk. We all do.
Trusting others is hard sometimes, dangerous even! But if we don't put faith in one one another, we will fail. The only way mankind can succeed is together.
It's a sentiment that really resonates with me, and it makes Oscar really interesting as a character.

What are you most excited for from S2 of the Owl House?
Oh wow there’s so much !! Okay firstly, I’m excited to see more of this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luz is hurting. She has just gone through something so incredibly different than anyone else in her world, and even in the Boiling Isles, would ever understand. She’s trying to get out her feelings but she acknowledges that it might sound incomprehensible to an outsider of her situation. This is something I’ve dealt with a lot and I’m very very excited to see how the show handles it and portrays her deeper emotions and means to cope.
Another thing I’m really excited for is the complicated family dynamic. Luz misses her mother and her mother misses her. Camila is going to the ends of the earth for her child. And maybe this is just because I am a parent and have also lost a parent but that’s gonna create and incredible development between their relationship and those around them. I cannot imagine losing my child. Especially after just sending them somewhere knowing they didn’t want to go.
I think a major plot device in this season is going to be guilt. Liliths guilt towards Eda, Edas guilt towards Luz, Luz’s guilt towards Eda and her friends, Camilas guilt towards Luz. Guilt is an ugly feeling. And it’s seen as more of a “problematic” emotion so I am looking forward to a children’s show having conversations and interactions geared towards dealing with guilty feelings and the forgiveness of not only those around you, but of yourself.
Also I’m just really excited to see her again, my funky little gremlin wife

Fav RWBY Character Design?
hmmmm tricky tricky... From a narrative/storytelling perspective I loooooooove Ruby's design(s) and how simple but effective her silhouette with the red cloak is. Just 😘👌 (By stem of that, Summer's design is also very good.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From a "I'm a predictable simp and audibly gasped out loud both times these were revealed" perspective, I gotta go with Young!Cinder's design and her design from V4 & 5. Idk what it is but they make my brain happy.

Fav Ozpin moment?
Fav Oscar moment?
Gdhsvisvshd I'm sorry, I promise I wasnt ignoring this, I actually love and appreciate this question I just couldn't figure out how to fucking answer it so I put it off for like three days 😂
ANYWAY
My Favorite Ozpin Mome
I freaking love the scene where Oz talks to Ruby at the Beacon Ball. It's so cute and he's such a dork and he just wants his students to relax and have fun. I just want more "Ozpin being a mentor" content!!!!! We didn't get that much before he died 😔
My Favorite Oscar Mome
This one was so hard, omg. Oscar has so many good moments, I can't pick. *Panics* Without thinking, I have to say the scene where he defends Oz for the first time in v8. Like he grew and matured so much over the course of the volume and it was really nice to see that development play out in that scene ☺️
Thank you for the random RWBY asks, Queen! They are so fun to answer 😆

Top 3 moments from RWBY vol 8?!!!
oh gosh, this is gonna be hard!
1) Monstra exploding - that whole sequence was nothing short of breathtaking. The lighting and effects were phenomenal, and seeing the aftermath with the disintegrating whale coloring the air like a post-apocalyptic landscape really set the mood and let us know we are now in the third and final act. Absolutely one of if not THE best sequences in RWBY (or at least a subjective favorite of mine). MAJOR props to the animators.
2) The moment when Cinder, Watts, and Neo enter the command room - the music swells and builds, Cinder opens her hand and a single flame dances in her palm, the civilians scream and try to flee but there’s a hard cut to their dead bodies at their desks, with one final ringing note echoing among the corpses and flame. It lets the moment set in, building and building tension, then everything is quiet and all life is gone. These villains are a threat and are competently working together, and it raised the stakes (which was sorely needed after ch12). An excellent trio I wish we’d seen more of. Incredible sound design that whole scene. Cinder’s leitmotif playing right before the hard cut and again at the end bookends the scene beautifully. Again, one of the absolute BEST scenes in RWBY.
3) This is gonna sound small, but the scene in Monstra when Oscar and Ozpin are just... talking. It’s a moment that’s been a long time coming and really felt like a breath of fresh air. They’re both just so tired. This is the first conversation they’ve had where they feel like equals, and it’s always heart-wrenching to see Oscar openly express his fears. Sometimes it seems he’s taking everything too well, so seeing how resilient he’s being juxtaposed with how broken he feels gives us some much-needed insight that left me wanting more. And the way they introduce the story of The Girl Who Fell Through The World is really smooth -- Oscar’s just lying there and reciting a quote he resonates with. It finally gives us some character depth and background for who Oscar was prior to Ozpin in a way that feels natural. (Also this is the first time in the show someone’s asked Oscar how he’s doing.)
Honorable mentions (aka ones I considered putting in the top 3):
Pietro saying “I want the chance to watch you live your life” and Penny responding “But Dad... I am trying to.” He lets her go, and she falls with the final words to her father: “I love you.”
Oscar meeting Salem, impersonating Oz and sassing the big bad while a foot away from her face, and Salem’s quiet intimidation before torturing him. Great characterization and really made the main villain feel like a threat.
Ren and Yang’s argument in the tundra. Both said things I agreed with and things I disagreed with, and I love that! (Though I wish it’d been followed up on because Ren made some good points)
The Renora scene (you know the one) with the healthy, mature conversation about their relationship. And! The! Boop!
JOYR+Emerald’s conversation in the tunnels. I’m a sucker for interpersonal conflicts that fit the characters, and I loved how Oscar emphasized that you aren’t obligated to forgive anyone, but it can be worth it to give them a chance to be better. Great nuance you rarely see in media. Plus him helping reintegrate Oz into the group and Oz’s sincere “Thank you, Oscar,” and Oscar’s little smile?? They’re getting along and it’s soft.
You asked for 3 and I basically gave you 8 oops

Fav Easter Egg in RWBY?
Most RWBY Easter Eggs go *woosh* right over my head, but one that I do remember seeing on a rewatch is:
Emerald: He was going to escape to Vacuo! Mercury and I decided to take it upon ourselves to kill the rat.
Mercury: I think he was some sort of cat, actually.
Emerald: What? Like a puma?
Mercury: Yeah, there ya go.
Tehe, Red vs. Blue reference.
I also ended watching a whole slew of Easter Egg RWBY videos and other Easter Eggs I’m fond of:
Yang’s “You’ve activated my trap card!” a Yugioh ref in Volume 1.
Volume 2, when referring to Ironwood, Qrow says “I’m not even sure he has a heart” a reference to his Tin Man inspiration.
Pyrrha getting hit with an arrow on her heel before her death, just like Achilles.
The birds flying in front of the Sun to reference Monty Oum’s signature in V3 T_T
Sun says going to Menagerie “It’ll be a regular ol’ Journey to the East!” which a reference to the book his character hails from “Journey to the West”
Qrow calls Oscar “pipsqueak” in the Volume 4 end credit scene, a nod to their roles on Fullmetal Alchemist. However, in FMA, the roles were reversed, and Qrow’s character was often called the short one or “pipsqueak”.
Nora saying when she discovered her semblance it was a “crazy Thursday” being a reference to her Nordic inspiration.
When Qrow is looking for huntsmen, one of the names is “Carolina Teale” a Red vs Blue ref.

Fav song & ost from RWBY vol 8??
There's just so much good stuff!
I know it was originally released as a single a while ago, but Friend is still my favorite song on the soundtrack. It's just so sweet! For Every Life is a close second, though.
As for the score, it's really hard to choose! Anything with the Hound is just fantastic. The end of Refuge Part II, when it first shows itself to the heroes, all of Dark Part II, but especially the ending where its identity is revealed and after they defeat it. It gives me chills every time.
But I also love Ironwood’s twisted motif in Divide Part II, Oscar and Oz's conversation in Refuge Part I, and the ending of The Final Word Part II when Atlas is sinking. It's all fantastic.

Fav song & ost from RWBY vol 8 soundtrack??
song, can't choose between for every life and the truth. the truth just smacks me in the head every time i listen to it, like, it's on point. for every life really grew on me though; when i first heard the opening at the end of the first episode, i wasn't too sure about it, but it grew on me. listening to the full version was the same, the second verse coming in felt really sudden at first but more i listen to it, it just works, definitely giving this desperate feeling of going back-and-forth between "we still have hope things will get better" and "never mind everything sucks".
i haven't listened to the ost much, but i love the end of midnight, pt I and dark, pt II. those vocals just give me emotions, ya know.
