Ngl he best trope is the one where, ok so there's like this people. Maybe it's a kingdom or a tribe or whatever, but it's a whole people and they're being deceived. They're generally a good people, they do what they can to survive and they love each other, and they are ruled by a good, albeit misguided person with understandable motives. Typically a queen, sometimes a mother, and she loves her people. She works, fights and shares with them - her people love her, trust her completely. But she is lying to them, maybe about a prophesy or about their own circumstances, but she is lying to them and she has been for decades, either out of the urge to protect her people or her child. Then this deception is revealed - she reveals it - and she begs for forgiveness, gives up her title and maybe tells them that she deserves to die for her crimes, that they have every right to kill her for breaking their trust and manipulating them for so long. She is crying, maybe this is on the verge of some crisis where they're all going to die because of she couldn't tell the truth, and her people are heartbroken, but forgive her immediately. They say, no, you cannot just die and be absolved of all responsibility. You have to stay and help us fix this, you have to fight. Because they love her and it is obvious that she loves them, that she did this because she didn't know any other way to protect what she cares for. And she is so beloved. Their trust is shaken, but she is their queen and she has, for so long, been one of them; someone who has sacrificed and cried and fought right alongside them, that they say no, we will not leave you. And if you die, then we will die right with you, because this is our home and you are our queen. You are one of us.

- when fighting wally and milliana, managed to turn his disadvantage of head being stuck in a cat helmet into an advantage using milliana's love for cats,so that she would be hesitant to attack him and would sabotage wally when he attacked (also using milliana's plush as a shield against wally's attack, good use of your environment)

- (cunty gray fullbaster)

- (also, kudos from me to ikagura, who managed to corner erza, and forced her out of her armor and to rethink her tactics, no one else have done it, you are underappreciated queen)

- (and second also, like, poor natsu? when they where on galuna, he saw how gray nearly killed himself twice, after phantom lord, was worried that lucy decided to go home, and now, simon is telling him that erza won't back down even when etherion strikes, thus killing her and jellal, his team is full of self-sacrificial people, huh?...(combine it with how zeref became cursed, just so he could bring natsu back, what is it with people around natsu-))

- (and another kudos from me to fucking jellal, you sly bastard. tricking EVERYONE around into thinking that there were two of you, and that etherion is necessary to destroy r-system, when actually it was the only way for it to gather enough magic power to do its work, ingenious, i got goose bumps from these scenes-) (or maybe its all just ultear's puppeteering, still cool tho-)

- (natsu... punching those he cares about into unconsciousness, so that they don't overexert themselves, huh... (okay, it happened only to gray and erza as of now, lucy is lucky she avoided it))

- (it is also evidence for how well nastu can mask and hide his emotions, because as he got erza, he smiled, and talked about another quest and paying lucy's rent, and started tickling erza, but the moment she passed out, his gears instantly shifted 180º, telling about how erza cried, that she gave up, and how he is going to fight for her to wake up from this nightmare, like, he was 100% putting up a brave face for erza)

- when fighting jellal, he was focusing very hard on smell, sound, and touch, to predict jellal's movement's

- when jellal said that tower can't handle more destruction, or magic will start to leak out, he immediately punched tower, that destroying is what fairy tail does best, aye! (that also means jellal can't fight in full power, while natsu has no such restrictions)

- eating etherion in substitution to his fire, and actually absorbing it, triggering his dragon force, damn, our favourite freak of nature, everyone! sure, it was a gamble, but one that paid off (what is it with you putting weird things in your mouth? first, when fighting lullaby, you talked about how would souls taste like, now etherion, and a bit later laxus' lightning, are you an animal? (don't bother answering, we know you are🥰🥰🥰))

- used falling chunks of tower to climb up to jellal and to catch up with him

- (oh, our assassins are okay, whew)

- natsu managing to find erza in that whirlpool of magic and save her (its not really about being smart, but i can't imagine that feat being easy, okay?)

- got the idea to "melt" erza from being a stone with his fire? makarov and happy kicked up a fuss, but gajeel was rather calm, even if he said that it was risky... task failed successfully, i suppose. erza is free, so that's what counts.

- (wait, i forgot that gajeel was even dealing with ivan, what the f-)

- (AND ONCE AGAIN, how the fuck lisanna is even alive? she talks about how she doesn't feel anything, and based on her reaction and how her eyes look she probably became blind. that's some spinal AND brain damage AT THE LEAST. how she managed to walk around edolas as if nothing happened-)

- correctly interpreted Laxus's impatience as worry, because his plan really was all or nothing, with all being named master, and nothing being, uh, i dunno, destroying magnolia? but now he won't have either

- (also, what in all hells, natsu? once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, but thrice is a damned pattern, stop stripping in your fights, you are not gray-)

Was there ever a omake or side chapter where the Exceed refugees place was visited?

Or anything at all?

Are there any fics about it?

Because I would love to see Natsu and Happy casually visiting sometime, getting a rundown of how all the Edolas exceeds are faring. Maybe Wendy and Carla come along to talk to the queen and get swarmed by a bunch of apologizing cats off their hubris high horse. Or how about Panther Lily asks how their guard is doing while Gajeel's loudly embarrassing him with that's-my-cat-ness in the background.

And a farming couple, silently watching them the entire time, walking up to Natsu and says thank you before blending back into the crowd.

Can we please give our cat mascots their own fun filler?

Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 176

Okay so once again. Why do we have stairs when 1. Exceeds believe they are a superior magical race and their main magic is Aera, 2. You are considered weak and disgraceful when one-winged or flightless, so 3. Everyone knows how to fly from birth. So, why do we have stairs. So many stairs? Why is this castle, which a human has never stepped foot in, designed for humans?

Like, it makes sense for Shagotte’s eventual reveal, but on the other hand, Shagotte’s eventual reveal to only have one wing feels insignificant because we are only told of how much their pride themselves in their wings at the reveal. Before then, the Exceeds never use their wings on a daily basis. 

Sure the importance of it was that Shagotte is super weak, but I wish the wings itself, which are a crucial point of Happy and Carla’s development in this arc, is emphasized a bit more to tie it all together. 

One thing they could have done to make Shagotte's reveal a bit mor restructured is maybe make the wings more... revelled? Like, maybe its custom for the cats to hide their wings, rather than use them, because they are prideful of it and it's considered crude to use their wings like utilities and transport. The only exception being down on the human country, where they show off their wings just to remind the humans they are below them. So maybe it is considered disrespectful in Extalia to show off your wings before your elders or superiors, and that is why they never show them because the queen doesnt.

So, they should do something like Carla and Happy showing their wings on Extalia in their defiance. Make an emphasis in their time in Extalia to realize the cats frown upon showing your wings every few moments like Happy and Carla usually do in Earthland. It also puts weight into that gorgeous frame of Carla pretending to be the princess to intimidate Knightwalker.

Like, dont mind me, I'm just headcanoning some could-have-beens in the side of world building for the exceeds. As they are, there really isnt much to them except that they have magic and the humans hate/worship them the same way they do the lacrima-- as magic, and not as fellow living beings.

What we got was enough, for what the story is. But I do wonder what could have happened if Edolas had more arcs to develop itself, rather than being a stop-and-go.

You know I'm gonna ask about One Piece like I have to legally

Yes, legally, of course. There’s a bit, but some is repetitive because of course we made them together xoxo. If anything, I know there’s a couple of things I’ll have to ignore if Oda does ever make plot points out of specifying them, so here we go:

Ace lives and while the characters I have that go to Marineford aren’t directly affected by that change, I certainly get serotonin from it. I find it kinda funny that thinking of my ocs in the normal canon timeline is filed as AU in my head.

The Dressrosa Changes: We swap out the devil fruit to Corazon’s and have your oc eat it because that is so funny and correct. Leading to mainly that Sabo doesn’t eat a fruit which does directly affect my ocs. If I could, I’d let Sabo succeed in killing Burgess, because he deserves it, but that would probably mess up the destruction of Baltigo.

Does it count that I technically ignored every time Mihawk complains about wanting to just be alone in his house all the time because I made Carmen? Because I really saw that man complain about his life and go “but what if there were two of you complaining about guests together?”

A slight one but, Law’s powers are very op and on purpose, but I think creating Jasper made me ignore a little how perfect those powers can be. Like this oc made me imagine more instances where there are drawbacks to how much Law relies on that fruit? If that makes sense.

If Oda ever gives more background on the Revolutionary Army, like who the first Chief of Staff might’ve been, I have to ignore that because Pedrina had that slot and she’s given me a lot of headcanons to shove in there. 

If Oda ever reveals info about Luffy’s mother I’ll have to heavily ignore and/or change that as well, which was always the educated risk on making Pedrina who she is. But who knows how long it could take for him to get to that point writing, if he ever does it at all. By that point either I change the show or change her.

Finallly, I live in fear of the Revery every day and I’m sure I’ll have to change something in there when I get the full story (Oda call me it’s been so long).

how they’d be introduced: gus is introduced in the first episode as farkle's twin

who the fandom ships them with: zay for sure, but also charlie and lucas

why the fandom loves them: gus is SUCH a sweetie; he's one of the kindest people on the show, and he provides a very real and vulnerable side to the friend group. he's also a very honest portrayal of anxiety in children, as well as gay representation disney was definitely lacking in!

why the fandom hates them: honestly i think a lot of people would think he's a. unnecessary to plot and b. an echo of other characters (maya's an artist, riley's kind, farkle's smart, etc.)

what the cast relationship would be like: NOAH (gus) AND COREY (farkle) BESTIES WHENNNNN. truly though i think noah and ceci (smackle) would have gotten along super well, and him and rowan (riley)! honestly noah's an angel and probably would have gotten along with everyone. but like there's definitely a cast group chat that he started with sabrina (maya).

what was their audition scene: GUS'S COMING OUT SCENE NOT A DOUBT IN MY MIND XOXO

if they spoil things: i have a feeling he absolutely would have dropped hints about the gus/zay thing just to watch the world burn but nothing serious

if the show/movie has ended, are they happy with their character’s ending and the ending at large: i think noah would be kind of disappointed that the show ended early, bc there was more to do with gus - while his ending was good, it could have been exceptional. but alas! otherwise, he's chillin.

They really don’t get into details about her powers, how they work, how she struggles with them. 

In season 2, she’s more in control of her powers but all the progress happened off-screen.

We don’t have time to get into her family dynamic, the Hargreeves are the only family that matter.

She would get like zero scenes with other female characters :(

They let her figure things out, because she is an investigative journalist after all, but somehow that information is never passed on. She just keeps it to herself? Or it gets ignored? So what’s the point then, if it doesn’t impact the plot?

She doesn’t get to say goodbye to Ben at all (to be fair that’s also something I have planned for her, but still RUDE)

I swear if they tried to pair her up with Klaus once Ben is gone 😠 Especially using the “well technically we’re already kissed while Ben was possessing you” thing.

I don’t think they would know what to do with her once Ben is gone. If they neglected her job, family, and other facets of her character.
