So anyway one of my headcanons is that the DSO was formed in response to people like SecDef Wilson, to combat corruption and BOWs at the highest level and that Leon had a lot of input on its structure and function (since the RE6 files specifically have Benford say ‘agency you and I discussed before’ in his email to Leon).

One of the things I think Leon would insist on is that all DSO agents be veteran feds - not just because the missions are dangerous, but because DSO agents need to be familiar with the government arena they’ll be operating in.

Sherry, coming into the DSO under Simmon’s special direction, does not meet this criteria - familiar with BOWs? Yes. Skilled in the field? Yes. Familiar with the ins and outs of government work? No. There’ll definitely be some personnel reshuffling in the aftermath of Simmons’ fall, and I think it’d make sense (and benefit Leon’s peace of mind lol) for Sherry to be transferred out -

- the only question is where?

Oohhh, Sherry going from Hyper Dangerous BOW fighting to the regular fed beat. That's a neat idea, and I could def see Leon maybe encouraging that, wink wink, nudge nudge, *cough* calling I'm favors *cough* while cleaning house Post-RE6.

I want to say she might do a tour with the FBI and stick close to home, maybe? Investigate federal crimes and get a feel for how investigations actually go, learn the ropes from the ground up and maybe get a feel for how junky the system actually is from a normal perspective, without exposure to whacko extremes like Simmons.

... or maybe she convinces Leon that's what she's doing, then accepts a CIA offer to be their "anti-BOW rising star" so they can have "their own Leon" but cuter, or something similar as they sold it to her, while she ets the training she wants and gets to meet up with Jake whenever she's out of country and he's on a job in a similar area.

Leon might just squint and go "so thats what we look like from the outside" while grumbling at a bar over it. Across from him, someone wearing red under her concealing trench-coat might laugh at him.

Of course, Chris is no help. He probably tried to poach her. And Leon's semi-seriously afraid Claire might blame him, so he's not going to complain to her.

i realized that i kinda answered the question wrong because i was thinking of what i read in my free time which is exclusively fiction but i do read quite a lot of nonfiction for uni :)

but i think i wanna get a bit more into (auto)biography? bc i think that's super interesting... and also maybe stuff about queer history and stuff <3

Such a simple thing, coffee. So easy to take for granted. They sit in silence for a long while as Chris finishes his breakfast, drinks the rest of his coffee. He’s getting up to cart his dishes to the window when he notices that Kennedy’s mug is empty, too. “Do you want more?” he asks.

“No, sir,” Kennedy says automatically.

“No right or wrong,” Chris reminds him. He lifts his tray in one hand and holds the other one out for Kennedy’s mug. “Do you want more?”

A beat. Then, “Yes, sir.” Haltingly, he passes his mug over. “Thank you.”

“It’s alright,” Captain Mills says. “I got the chance to read Kennedy’s contract transfer. It’s completely free to use in any way that upper-level agents deem fit, and it knows to follow orders. Don’t you, Kennedy?”

“Yes, ma’am,” he says, and he finds it hard to say with his throat constricting like it is.

To hear it spoken out loud is devastating. He doesn’t know what kind of expression he’s wearing but it makes Leon lean back, shift his gaze to Piers. It’s still just as demanding, but there’s less of an edge to it, and Chris realizes then that Piers was right— Leon might know Chris, might even like him, but trust is going to be harder to earn. Chris is still a captain. He’s still someone who could order Leon to do anything, knowing that Leon will have to obey. It’s in his contract, his papers, and driven so deeply into his mind that Chris sometimes wonders if he’ll ever be able to say no.

“Have I done something?” he insists because there’s something like hysteria rising in his throat. “Whatever it is, I can correct it, sir, I swear to you.”

Summary:

“Hunnigan.” He sounds exasperated, exhausted and agonized and so painfully alive that Hunnigan can’t bear to think about what he’s implying. She won’t let this happen. She won’t lose him.

Well, while frustrating its understandable. She grew up in the shadow of heroes, and all children strive to emulate their parents.

You have to consider what the formative events of her life were like, both as a child and as a young adult when she had more freedom, even if still under Simmons. The bravery and sacrifices she saw her parents display that she would have been comparing herself to.

And then you have meeting Jake, and him helping her and her helping him and how that changed both of their lives, and how he helped her accept her own nature and reclaim her freedom and avenge herself. And dont children often look for partners that remind them of their parents?

Yup, after seeing all those sacrifices and displays of bravery, after the sacrifices made for her sake, after seeing her mother and father teach her by example to stick to her morals, and beliefs, and to always have standards and only compromise if it will protect people or her family, and also after hearing about her Uncle punching boulders and so on and so forth, it was a coin flip who she would try to be like when she had the freedom to once Simmons died, and much to her mothers ire, she decided to emulate her dad more.
