just drew isolde! thanks to everyone who voted on the poll, i love isolde so much and she deserves soooo much love <3 she's everything to me.
my own loose design, based off of howard pyle's illustration of her + her portrayal in the icelandic film shadow of the raven (aka my favorite tristan and isolde film, which i highly recommend) i know she's typically described as blonde, but i really like to envision her with darker hair.
morgause is next<3

Coming out of Hiatus to say:
Today is Queen Isolde's birthday aka a good day to live in the kingdom, but a bad day to be a servant/apprentice in the castle.

Isolde as well.
Though I can't decide which color her hair should be.

I don't know why in my mind I image Guinevere has really large ears. maybe because of her giant blood.

i was thinking this morning about how many depictions i have seen of arthurian female characters are quite feminine. we headcanon many of these characters as girl kissers and of course not all queer women are masculine but there's so little masc rep out there...
so i am wondering what female characters in the arthurian legend yall headcanon as butch/masc?
do you write about them? make art/crafts about them? do you have any face headcanons for them?
please share!

Seeking a book to read this winter break?
Brand "New" List of Additions to the Arthurian Preservation Project Archive
In time, all books will be added to my Retellings List or Medieval Literature List respectively, and possibly a third page for handbooks/informational resources. Retellings may be under construction for a bit as I reformat to accommodate the influx in links. There are some duplicates—Alan Lupack's and Mike Ashley's anthologies occasionally contain a one-off story I've otherwise included in an individual volume of collected works by the author.
Links connect to corresponding PDFs on my Google drive where they can be read and downloaded for free. But if you like what I do, consider supporting me on Ko-Fi. I haven't yet read these listings in full; I cannot attest to their content or quality. A big thank you to @wandrenowle for the help collecting!

Some (horrible?) errant thoughts:
Arthur has no facial hair except a giant honking Walrus Mustache, Celtic style
Palamedes, a Babylonian pagan, worships Ishtar
A lot of Morgan le Fay and Guinevere's antics could be summed up by Taylor Swift songs.
Elaine (of Corbenic) is a gym girl
King Mark neighs when no-ones around
Gawain IS fluent in Chinese. So is Elaine of Corbenic for some reason (!!??)
Tristan and Isolde have had shapeshifter sex with each other using every animal form they could find in the forest. Tristan has indeed given birth to many animal children.
Merlin has many bastard daughters, who are all feral and hairy
A hypothetical "original" version of Knight of the Cart has Melwas picking up the Sword-Bridge and smacking Arthur with it. It fails. Spectacularly.
Dame Silence is...
Uther Pendragon often comes back from the dead just to shit talk about Camelot to the court's face.
Igraine is a conwoman (she got it from her dad, Amleth). This embarrasses Morgan but not Elaine and Morgause.
