From all the 10 endings that I could have gotten I've got ending 8

Where I am sexy and bitches argue and I don't find inner peace and die embarrassingly in the end. It's the ending where you have the highest intimacy with Daejin xoxo and apparently I chose being realistic??? (I played this game without trying to get any specific ending, I just followed my heart🍑)

And me following my heart lead me to getting 100 intimacy with Daejin of all characters no joke (we all know that my beloved character is Yongjuu🥰 which you cannot befriend for obvious reasons, such as her personality)

And man I genuinely thought I got one of the worst endings so I just had to look up the other endings on the internet... And you know what, the artwork of my ending looks pretty fine in my opinion

BUT ALSO, like, while I was playing the game at the beginning I felt like Asya might just be a love interest, and I would disagree with her all the time and I was afraid that her becoming a love interest was unavoidable BUT PLOT TWIST! They don't date. At all. Not even in her own endings!!! Because, you know, it's been hinted in the game that hey🥰🥰 Pyotr and Asya🥰🥰 muah~ but all that ever happens is

and I guess they have some moments with lots of tension but that's it!

Man... Still something that I love is that the characters don't...date... Daejin never dated anyone! Neither did Asya (or Pyotr) or Yongjoo or Kimura or... Idk, Igor lol. And they just lived their lives like that, and it was all normal and fine. I think only Lizaveta and Kyuhan Cha Cha Cha were the only characters in the game to be romantically involved. Interesting. [False, there's also that guy with his orange scarf and 100+ kids, my bad] So like, yeah guys! Headcanon these girls as aromantic! Who's gonna stop you?!

Fun fact: I was besties with all of the characters except Asya intimacy wise (and here I am being upset that there's no ending where they👉👈, just a little itty bitty ending please! At least one where she doesn't hate me!)

OTD in Music History: Composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky watches as his “1812 Overture” receives its world premiere at a historic “all-Tchaikovsky” concert held in 1882. Tchaikovsky hated the “1812 Overture.” He wrote it on commission for an Exhibition of Industry and the Arts that was slated to be held in Moscow, and, as he explained in a letter to his patron and close confidante Countess Nadezhda von Meck (1831 - 1894): "There is nothing less to my liking than composing for the sake of some festival. What, for instance, can you write on the occasion of the opening of an exhibition except banalities and generally noisy passages?” Tchaikovsky worked quickly, finishing the piece in just a few weeks, and he expressed his final judgment in a letter written to another friend shortly before the premiere: “I don't think my Overture has any serious merits, and I shouldn't be at all surprised and offended if you find that it is in a style unsuitable for symphony concerts." “Nope! Not even little Hayashi has heard anything. Tough luck Mr. Belov!”

“I see… Thank you for looking for me either way.”

“Of course. How can I turn down my most valuable customer? You’re the only one that doesn’t call me a Japanese freak! Well, I am one, but still.” Not like Makoto actually cared for his lonely life. He had his cats’ company. His numerous, numerous cats.

“They’re foolish to overlook you then. Your intelligence isn’t any the least hampered by your status… I truly do wonder sometimes about your full potential.”

“Don’t start that ‘potential’ nonsense on me! You sound like my father. Just pet Hayashi alright?” Makoto outstretched Hayashi to Pyotr’s face. He in turn covered his face at the offer, already feeling his nostrils flare up in the beginning of a sneeze.

“I apologize Mr. Kimura… and you know I can’t pet her.”

“Ohhhh right you are.” 

Pyotr was very rarely scared of much. However he couldn’t deny that once Makoto was angered, something inside of him reacted as well. Such an unassuming man was the silent threat of Vladivostok Harbor, even if it’s not a direct threat. Makoto never wanted to touch a firearm again, and Pyotr wouldn’t ever plan on making him either.

“Cats live such wonderful lives, don’t you think so too Mr. Belov?”

“What do you mean?”

“They roam wherever they want! Just live their lives. No need for comfort. And yet they still get doted on and adored! As they should! Although I don’t care too much about that part- anyways! It must be nice to have that freedom.”

“You’re right… It must be nice.” How Pyotr wished he could just turn into a cat and run from his problems. Perhaps run away on a nice ship like the ones Liza told him about when they were children. 

“If I were to be a cat… hmmm. I’m not sure what breed I would be! What do you think, Hayashi?” He asked Hayashi on his lap. She was grooming her tail, only giving him a ’mraow’ before continuing. Makoto nodded furiously.

“You’re right… I didn’t think of that at all!”

“What did Hayashi say?”

“A Russian Blue! How about you Mr. Belov? What would you be if you were a cat?”

“E-eh? Let me think…”

“I think you would be a normal black cat.”

“Is it because of my hair?”

“Black cats are seen as omens of misfortune… very spooky and mysterious!”

“...”

“But, they’re just misunderstood, no? The sweetest cats I’ve met were all black cats!”

“T-thank you?”

“Not for you!” Makoto gave a harsh stare before loosening his knit eyebrows. A smile indicated that he was merely making a light hearted joke.

“That does sound like me, yes.”

Air on the G String (Ｇ線上のアリア)

Composer: Johann Sebastian Bach (バッハ) Category: elegant (清麗) Keywords: passion, compliment, determination, reputation, aura, people, confidence, flower, life

This piece originates from Bach’s Orchestral Suite №3 that is called “Air”. In the arrangement by August Wilhelmj (in 1871), the violin melody is transposed such that the entire piece can be played on the violin’s lowest string (i.e. the G string). While the original key of Bach’s version is in D major, Wilhelmj’s version is in C major.

Romanze (ロマンスト長調)

Composer: Max Reger (レーガー) Category: vivid (彩華) Keywords: resonance, creation, bride, student, education, passion, hometown, youth, home

Romance (Romanze in German) generally refers to any vocal or instrumental piece that has a tender, lyrical quality. This piece, originally for violin and piano (original version), was first published in the magazine Neue Musikzeitung in 1901. It now has multiple different versions, including for flute, clarinet and cello.

Valse Sentimentale (感傷的なワルツ)

Composer: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (チャイコフスキー) Category: gloomy (愁情) Keywords: despair, dream, admiration, dedication, goddess, love, encounter, suffocation, marriage

Valse Sentimentale is one of the “Six Pieces (Six morceaux) for solo piano”, Op. 51 that Tchaikovsky wrote for the bourgeois salons in 1882. Each of the piece is dedicated to a different person, and the final movement Valse Sentimentale is dedicated to Emma Genton — an important woman in Tchaikovsky’s life. The melancholic melody gives a sense of romance while vividly depicts the image of a beautiful woman. My personal favourite is this version arranged for violin.

Sicilienne (シチリアーノ)

According to the official fanbook or the game, Sicilienne is composed by the blind Austrian Maria Theresia von Paradis (パラディス). Say even in this online video, the piece is attributed to Paradis. However, latest research revealed that it is very likely a musical hoax by violinist Samuel Dushkin, who published the piece in 1924.

Sicilienne (also known as siciliano or siciliana), is a form of dance music for Sicilian folk dance in Italy, which was popular during the 17th and 18th centuries. The genre is often characterised by dotted rhythms and gives a pastoral feel.

Humoresques (ユーモレスク)

Composer: Antonín Dvořák (ドヴォルザーク) Category: vivid (彩華) Keywords: childhood, celebration, resonation, desire, heart

This piece was written when Dvořák returned to his homeland Czechoslovakia (now The Czech Republic) during the summer of 1984. He had been working as the director of the Conservatory in New York in the United States between 1892 and 1895. The piece was originally composed for the piano, comprised of both Czech and American style melodies.

Later, Dvořák’s Humoresque №7 became the tune that can be heard on passenger train toilets in the United States — the singing begins with “Passengers will please refrain from flushing toilets while the train is standing…” (full song here).

Après un rêve (夢のあとに)

Composer: Gabriel Fauré (フォーレ) Category: gloomy (愁情) Keywords: sentiment, unrequited love, reputation, farewell, self, dream, quietude, reputation, longing

Après un rêve (After a dream in English) is one of the pieces from Trois mélodies that Fauré wrote for solo voice and piano between 1870 and 1877. The lyrics originates from an Italian poem that recounts a dream where one’s beloved can be seen. The following shows the translation in English by Richard Stokes:

In sleep made sweet by a vision of you I dreamed of happiness, fervent illusion, Your eyes were softer, your voice pure and ringing, You shone like a sky that was lit by the dawn; You called me and I departed the earth To flee with you toward the light, The heavens parted their clouds for us, We glimpsed unknown splendours, celestial fires. In the game you could play this piece with a violin duet, and I really like the arrangement. Unfortunately I cannot find anything similar online, but this is another arrangement for 2 violins and piano.

BONUS POLL 4: Look at all the snazzy buildings in (and around) Sankt Peterburg!

Before we convene on the final bloodbath of the season, we should just... Relax and find some more chill topic to discuss. Like fancy residences. No, I'm serious.

I've picked a handful of the most interesting residences built by house Romanov. I'm guessing the most avowed of the Romanov nerds in our audience will have the time of their life... But even if you've never heard about any of these (which, c'mon, would you really even be here if you haven't at least heard of them?) - well, at least you can check out the ample photographic material included. Because who doesn't like to look at some good Rastrelli?

OUR CONTESTANTS:

Winter Palace Construction began: 1710 on the orders of Pyotr I. Description: A historical behemoth, site of both the legendary 300th anniversary ball and Bloody Sunday. Also the seat of the Provisional Government, and as such at the center of attention during February Revolution. Part of the Hermitage museum (my beloved).

Oranienbaum (palace complex) Construction began: 1710 on the orders of Pyotr I. (well, Menshikov) Description: As mentioned, originally built as Menshikov's residence, but after his fall from grace, the palace was taken over by the royal family. Its most notable resident was Pyotr III. before his ascencion. Look, I just think it's cute, okay?

Anichkov Palace Construction began: 1741 on the orders of Elizaveta Petrovna Description: Alexander III. really loved this one for some reason (the fact that his father narrowly avoided being assassinated in the previous residence, Winter Palace, might've had something to do with it). Nikolai II. grew up here.

(Great) Gatchina Palace Construction began: 1766 on the orders of Ekaterina II. Description: Originally built for Grigory Orlov of all people, but after his death, Ekaterina thought it's so swell she bought it for the royal family. Alexander III. loved this one too, to the point that it was called "The Citadel Of Autocracy".

Alexander Palace Construction began: 1793 on the orders of Ekaterina II. Description: Built for her beloved grandson Alexander I. as a wedding gift. Alexander moved out of it after his ascencion to the throne, giving it to his brother Nikolai I. Nikolai II. was born there, and it subsequently became his favourite residence.

Saint Michael's (Engineers') Castle Built: in 1797 by Pavel I. Description: Pour one out for my boi Pavel. He didn't feel safe in Winter Palace, so he built a new one for himself, and a few weeks after it was finished, he was assassinated there. After that whole mess, the royal family didn't want anything to do with it, so they gave it to Main Engineering School (higher education institution for army engineers). I picked this one just for the historical value, and for poor Pavel I.

Alexei Nikolaevich with his beloved Spaniel Joy and his cat, Kotka. More about Kotka below…

Kotka was gifted to Alexei Nikolaevich by Count Major General Vladimir Nikolaevich Voeikov during his stay at Military HQ, ‘Stavka’, with his father. Judging by this photograph and General Voeikov’s memoir, Kotka was a Siamese cat. 

“I have on my farm… Siyam…ones. They were so beautiful, colour like chocolate with blue eyes, etc…. [the] Heir asked for one…

Next time, I gave him a wicker [basket] with a cat. He was dithyrambic [note: probably a rough translation of very enthusiastic and excited]. To Sisters (OTMA) a letter was sent, and they wanted some too…”

Count Major General Voeikov, and with Alexei at Stavka, December 1916. Also pictured are Pierre Gilliard ('Zhillik'), Sydney Gibbes ('Sig'), and Pyotr Vasilievich Petrov ('PVP')

Throughout his letters and dairies, Alexei frequently mentions Kotka, including how she and Alexei’s spaniel dog Joy liked to sleep together, and how he woke up one morning to fine Kotka asleep next to him.

As the months as Stavka went by, Kotka began to accompany Alexei to his lessons with tutors Pierre Gilliard, Pyotr Vasilievich Petrov, and Sydney Gibbes, preferring to cuddle up next to Joy and nap throughout the teaching. Alexei even trained Kotka to accompany him and Joy on their daily car rides with Pierre Gilliard!

It’s unknown exactly what happened to Kotka and her fellow feline friends: Maria’s cat, and Olga’s cat Zubrovka. However, the general understanding is that they weren’t allowed to accompany the family to Tobolsk, and remained at the Alexander Palace until homes were found for each of them.
