@theprinceandagcd @hgejfmw-hgejhsf for the tags :) :) i finally have some sentences. i have been struggling a lot with reading and writing recently. so, I'm writing something that makes me happy to bring the juice back.

here is a peep at angel!henry sequel. because honestly, writing him experiencing joy at small human things is helping me recalibrate myself and find my own tiny joys. i am doing this for me. it is a love letter to humanity from me to you, but also a reminder to myself

The Victoria & Albert museum is lively today. Henry hasn’t been back to the Cast Courts since he last visited in his time of need, the heaviest he had ever felt, his whole being sagging under the weight of the world’s pain he elected to shoulder. If he stares hard enough, he can almost see a shadow of his former self staring up at Trajan’s Column, can almost run his fingers across the desperation written all over his face as he seeks comfort in Civitali’s angels; his hands clasped and cold and pleading.   Now, his hands are warm, nestled in Alex’s palms, calloused fingertips absentmindedly running over Henry’s knuckles. It makes Henry feel grounded, tethered to a reality he never thought he deserved, but has manifested nonetheless.  He takes in the statues with a new perspective, a newfound respect. Yes, they endured. Yes, they were seen, and they were loved.  But now, Henry is too. Seen and loved, in the way that matters, with an end in sight. Henry’s never been happier to reject eternity.

will you tell us more abt your fantasy world’s high elf/orcs please 👀

absolutely!!! Theyre referred as either high elves or orcs depending on where you are in the world and who youre talking to. Some people use one or the other, or use them interchangably.

Before society and sapience came along and whatnot, orcs evolved for rainforests, deserts, forests, and any ecosystem with a heavy focus on plant life (so most of them really!) and lots of sun. Very widespread. Their skin is green, or green ish, and a little waxy to the touch because they have chloroplasts. They photosynthesize, giving them extra energy. Because of that they dont need to sleep much, or even at all, depending on how much sun they've gotten! It also allows them to channel more magic via their appendix (thats the Magic organ). High elf magic users are going to be strongest during the day and a little weakened at night. In thick forests amd rainforests, they would (and some still will!) climb to the tree tops to absorb sun. Hence the name high elf.

They evolved to have tusks in order to scrape bark off trees, get cactus skin, and open cacti and tough-skinned fruits. They are able to properly digest fiber unlike most people. Though, in the modern world as society came together, their tusks are usually viewed with respect. Something to decorate and customize (they dont stop growing!), giving a kind of thanks to their tusks for historically having played a big part in their diet and survival in the past.

Speaking of diet, while they are omnivorous like all elves, they do lean more herbivorous! Many of the groups and places youll find that are orc heavy and orc-led will have an extra care and appreciation for the plants around them.

Unfortunately, I'm still workshopping the societal and cultural parts of high elves and most of my variants. I know where I want everything to end up and some overarching beats of the world, but I get caught up focusing more on speculative fantasy biology and not getting deep into how society would build up, what cultures would be made, and how it eventually all comes together in a modern fantasy setting with magic and technology together and with people from any kind of variant of person being able to be found anywhere withoit surprise, and for it not to be at all unusual to see people that dont fit neatly into any one variant label. That is a hugeee run on sentence lmao.

But ive had this fantasy world in my head for years and try to be very intentional in building a world without colonialism and implying any one variation of person is better or different or good or evil or whatever. It's all just people! I especially want to do right by orcs since tolkein's popularization of them is written as a blatent racist "barbaric" caricature of Black people. Now as I type that I realize I havent drawn any Black high elves! I should fix that. In the meantime heres a couple of orcs ive drawn in the past. There's still a lot after my rewatch of spn 5.18--it's one of the series Great episodes. So I'm going to have to break it up into small posts.

One thing I wanted to zero in on is Zachariah's speech to Adam as an unreliable narrator, and a slick salesman for Heaven, who is all about closing the deal, no matter the cost. The dream sequence in the playground (what is it about angels and playgrounds), which isn't a dream sequence but Zach playing Adam a visit in his dreams (as angels do), where Zach is trying to convince Adam to be Michael's vessel instead of going with Sam and Dean's way:

"Didn't we tell you about them? So you know you can't trust them, right? You know Sam and Dean Winchester are psychotically, irrationally, erotically codependent on each each other, right?...Trust me kid, when the heat gets hot, they're not going to give a flying crap about you. Hell, they'd rather save each other's sweet bacon than save the planet."

It's a deliberate attempt to separate and divide, to get Adam to mistrust them. Like many villains on the show, using a grain of truth: in this case, the brothers are codependent in some ways and they are close, but the rest of it is as twisted and wrong as Zach's fake Mary in DSOTM. (Which was either Mary's real soul being puppeted by Zach, or an illusion cooked up by Zach. It played on Dean's fears. It's not the truth).

And in the same episode, what happens? Sam and Dean and Cas mount a rescue mission to save Adam.

And we know how S5 ends.

In fact, Sam and Dean are the opposite of what Zach claims.

They will always try to save people and save the world, and save the people they love. They'll always come back to that, along with trying to save each other. Adam isn't family yet but they see in him someone who could be family and they care. That's what Sam and Dean do. They care.

That is the truth.

It’s genuinely depressing watching people rooting for the tiktok ban on tumblr. “Yes get rid of the misinformation pipeline!” as if I wasn’t lowkey tracking black salve facebook groups or the weird urine cults on Twitter 10 years ago.
