Halloween prompt: House takes baby!Thirteen out trick or treating for the first time

House isn't much of a holiday person. But even he can't deny that Halloween is objectively the best holiday of them all, especially now that he has a kid (and a cute kid at that). Free candy to mooch from just from walking around the block? Sign him up.

Thirteen is dressed in the costume she insisted upon: a huge, round jack-o-lantern, with some adjustments made to make the face properly scary looking. (which Bee/oddlittlestories did a drawing of!!) she's pretty chatty for her age, and House has spent the past few days drilling her on how to say "trick or treat" as adorably as possible. She's practiced and got it down-pat. She's so ready for this. She's going to be the cutest kid in all of fucking Plainsboro.

First stop of the night is Wilson's apartment (of course). House carries Thirteen up to the doorstep and is giving her a pep talk. "You remember what we practiced, right? I knock on the door, I'll put you down, the door opens– that's when you hit 'em with the big guns. You remember what to say?" Thirteen nods. (Of course she does, she's his kid and she's smart as a whip. He's confident.) "Alright, let's get this show on the road. Knock 'em dead."

House knocks on the door, sets her down on the ground, takes one step back. He can hear muffled footsteps from inside. The door opens, and he sees the silhouette of Wilson holding a bowl full of candy. Before he can say anything, Thirteen throws her arms up, jumps towards him, and shouts "ROAR!" at the top of her little lungs.

House puts his head in his hands (but he's laughing behind them). When he looks up, Wilson is feigning terror as Thirteen toddles towards him, the giant pumpkin costume wobbling adorably with each step. "I got you, Jimmy!"

"What happened to 'trick-or-treat'?" House asks.

Wilson crouches down to Thirteen's height, and then pretends to be knocked aside when she gently baps him with one little hand. "I think she decided that SHE wanted to be both the trick and the treat."

"Yeah!" Thirteen grins and points to her costume. "Look, Jimmy! Scary!" (but of course she can't say her R's yet).

"Absolutely terrifying." House agrees. "But hey, Lucky Thirteen. Don't you want to show Jimmy what we practiced?"

"What you practiced?" Wilson raises a brow.

Thirteen frowns. "Not scary."

"You can be as blood-curdlingly horrifying as you want after we get some candy."

Thirteen brightens again. "Okay!" Without hesitation, she holds out her fabric candy basket and looks up at Wilson with the most adorable little smile he's ever seen. "T'ick o' t'eat!" (To her credit, she enunciates well for her age, minus those damn R's).

"Oh my god." Wilson looks up at House with an expression that's half-horrified, half-intrigued. House grins. "You trained her. Like a dog."

"T'ick o' t'eat!" Thirteen repeats, and pushes her basket against Wilson's knee. "Candy?"

"She's not a dog, Wilson. She's a finely tuned magnet for all the candy in Plainsboro."

"Yes, you can have some candy," Wilson assures Thirteen. He reaches for the discarded bowl and pulls out a small handful to drop into her basket. Looking back up at House, he says, "You are terrible. I expect a cut of no less than thirty percent of your earnings."

"Save me the Reese's in that bowl and we have a deal."

Thirteen ends up trying to scare people at almost half of the houses, but she's so adorable that she's showered with candy regardless. By the end of the night they've got enough to last them weeks.

How much are artists allowed to share online about the process of creating their big bang piece? For example, seeing as we have so much time, I may make design sheets for the characters in the fic, make a lot of thumbnail sketches, etc. Are those permitted to be shared, or should they be reserved for after all the art drops?

i think you can share anything you want as long as it's not the main piece :)

okay so this one is a little fucked up. it's a post-murder of lucy fic that focuses on kipperlilly. i personally interpret it as kipperlilly not knowing what's real or not, and it's a fun read but it's definitely a bit uh horror-adjacent.

Kipperlilly was a mastermind, an expert in secrecy and skullduggery, far more effective than he could ever be. Still. His sword explodes out of the other side of Ivy’s chest and Kipperlilly does not—does not—flinch. The final battle in the name of rage in the Aguefort gym, from Kipperlilly Copperkettle's point of view.

genuinely obsessed with the idea of kipperlilly after lucy's death, in the immediate aftermath, where it's still so raw and the rage is starting to leech in. i read them every time a new one shows up in the tags but this is one of my favs. benji's take on kipperlilly is one of my favorites.

@purrassicjet made a post about wanting House and Wilson to hug and it really got me thinking about House and how he must be so terribly touch starved.

Like how often do we get to see House touched gently but non-sexually?

I remember one scene (I don’t remember the episode) where Cameron comes into House’s bedroom when House is asleep and instead of yelling at House to wake up she sits next to him on the bed and gently touches his back to wake him it really stuck with me because how often do we see people being gentle with him?

Even Wilson who is his best friend rarely touches him. They do have no regard for person space sometimes, but they rarely touch one another.

House deserves more gentleness. More hugs. I think he needs some physical affection in his life.

Do any of your autistic Thirteen headcanons work their way into the baby!Thirteen AU? How do our favorite gay doctor dads help her?

yesssss 100%!! House would be super aware of her autistic traits because of his own, so he’d be pretty great at helping her. Cutting the tags out of her clothes, using laundry detergent that won’t irritate her sensitive skin, always has sunglasses and ear protectors in case it’s too bright or too loud, making sure she has a say in picking out all of her clothes so that the textures aren’t overwhelming. He’d also give her plenty of space and quiet to regulate when she’s feeling overwhelmed; probably pick her up and take her somewhere where they can be alone and turn the lights off, and hold/hug her in his lap so she can have some gentle pressure sensory input. I think toddler Thirteen would also regulate by carrying either her blanket or a favorite stuffed animal with her (I’m picturing a bunny), and House would be very chill about her bringing them everywhere they go. He’d say they’re part of the family, lol. And she would have so many stim toys. In their apartment, in House’s office, even in Wilson and Cuddy’s offices, there’s always something that’s safe for toddler hands to fidget with.

@purrassicjet and i were talking about celebrities that we think should run for us president and we landed on emily deschanel but she would need david boreanaz to be vice president (obviously) or it wouldn’t work as well and then we ended up with a bones presidential au??

here is everyone’s roles, please keep in mind now the rod is are american and all our information on how the presidency works came from hamilton.

brennan as president obviously because she would be great. only question we had was would she be “dr president” like how people say “mr president” because she had three doctorates and that will not be ignored

angela as vice president because america needs her. she is amazing.

Okay so yeah, I have a lot of WIPs. These are all active WIPs, so please ask me anything you want about any of them! I actually didn’t realize I had this many lol. I would have guessed like 15 or something haha. But please!! Ask away!! (And yes, these are all House MD Hilson fics) 😄

Did baby!Thirteen have a rebellious teenage phase? How did House react to it?

Surface answer: I think probably! I’m imagining “rebellious” in that she experiments with things like dyeing her hair, punk/goth/emo style, etc. So rebelling against society instead of rebelling against House specifically. House would be all for it, I bet. And Cuddy would be appalled by it whenever she came into the hospital, so all the more reason for House to support it! 🤣

Deeper answer: I think she would probably go through “teenage rebellion” of sorts after House (and probably Wilson with him) sit her down and have a long talk about the large possibility of her having Huntington’s, and about her getting tested. I think Thirteen would point blank refuse to get tested for a long time and fight House viciously on it. I think she’d also start pushing his buttons and egging him on for fights in pretty much every other area of her life after that, too. It’s letting out all of her anger about the Huntington’s, but it’s also testing her limits with him, seeing how much he’ll take before he snaps and “has had enough of her”. If she does have Huntington’s he’s going to have to “put up with her”, as she sees it, and she’s also terrified of being alone. So she’s testing House and also pushing him away, to avoid the rejection of him pushing her away first or him saying she’s “too much”. (He would never. But poor bby is a scared teenager). So there’s probably definitely a rocky period where House and Wilson don’t fully realize why Thirteen is behaving the way she is, but they’ll eventually all come to an understanding. Thirteen will know she’ll have her toxic gay dads to support her no matter what<3
