I remembered that I have a whole clan of WoF OCs and it's time to draw them.

This is Hibiscus (Гибискус). In general, his entire role comes down to being the father of the clan matriarch, as well as the grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather of its members. And also to be dead now.

I wanted to draw a purebred RainWing before moving on to the crowd of hybrids that make up half of the Medusa clan.

Hey, so since you're a hybrid of four tribes, what abilities do you have?

Oh, shit uh. I got this useless fucking tailbarb that has no venom, so just a spike on my tail. And I can spit venom but cannot aim for shit, it just comes out as a damn glob that goes a random distance.

I also got fucked over by having no fire or ice breath! So that��s fun. At least I can swing through trees pretty fine. Not as well as purebred rainwings, but still fine.

So all I have is weak-aiming venom, a spike on my tail, and agility

Yippee first 3rd arc character done here comes the text wall of my headcanons/AU shit

-Snowfall’s unusual appearance comes from her father having some sort of hybrid ancestry (Rainwing, but also possibly some Sky or Sandwing). All three of Glacier’s kids have different dads, with Crystal being the only one born out of an official marriage. Snowfall’s father, Rosé, had been a one night fling of Glacier’s out of spite of the council trying to get Glacier to re-marry shortly after her first husband had been killed in a Seawing ambush and trying to get her to produce a daughter her was “less disappointing” than Crystal.

-Her scales can change color according to her mood; she can’t control them. The reference shows a neutral, perhaps slightly happy (for all that she is scowling) mood, with a purple tint and some yellow spots. Her scales flare red and orange when she’s angry. She turns blue and desaturates when she’s sad; turns white when she is scared or in pain (there more negative emotions, the more she looks like a purebred Icewing). She can’t turn brown or green or significantly dark colors. Basically it’s like if you compressed the Rainwing mood palette onto an Icewing.

-Snowfall was the punching bag for the rest of the royal and noble kids in her early life due to her unusual appearance. Perhaps not physically, but very much verbally. Without a mother who was around and an older sister who didn’t really try to protect her, Snowfalls grew into somebody who was hungry to prove herself better than everybody else.

-Lynx was the only exception to Snowfall’s bullying. Lynx was Snowfall’s only proper friend growing up (you can see a friendship bracelet on her right arm). This friendship probably would have progressed to something more if... other events had not happened.

-Snowfall’s “queenly wardrobe” was thrown together last minute. While Icewing’s have the same “royal challenge” rules as most other tribes, it’s considered highly unusual for a queen to challenge at a young age and therefore while relatively small. Thus, most of the hoard of “queen worthy” jewelry was too big for her. She wears rings as tailbands or large hoop earrings as bracelets. She also wears a lot of shawls and scarfs to cover up her scales (it was originally featured on her headshot design but I didn’t want to cover this design).

-This kind of comes out of left field, but Snowfall is killed when she tried to destroy the Great Ice Wall (which only exists in a circle around the palace, because I think its dumb that you can just fly into the kingdom from a different direction). I don't really see whoever created the Great Ice Wall as not include a failsafe if some "inexperienced and foolish queen" ever tried to "endanger the kingdom" by destroying it.

-Snowfall's death induced a severe split among Icewings. Out of sheer disgust, some fled the kingdom and temporally joined Winter in the Sanctuary before establishing a new kingdom in the north of the Skywing kingdom (this includes Lynx). Others took it as a sign that Snowfall's philosophy was wrong and swore alliance with Icicle, who swooped in at the death of her former rival and promised to uphold the traditional society that queens such as Glacier or Snowfall had been failing to uphold.

-Anyways in an AU where she doesn't die, the idea of her ending up with a Leafwing named Snowbell tickles me fancy because I'm silly like that.

#2 WHAT? Pick a conflict

The main conflict is eggs going missing. Mostly nightwing and Icewing eggs theirs also dragons being kidnapped. Although this group seems to be targeting purebreds rather than hybrids.

#3 WHO? Create a character

Name: Aquarius

Age: 5

Pronouns: she/her

Tribe: seawing/nightwing

Size: sleeker than a typical bulky seawing build and smaller than typical seawings/nightwings

Scale colouring: dark rich purple with brighter purple horns and glowing scales. She has pale pink wings and webs with mix of white and black speckled scales on her wings.

Powers: #2 animus magic and mindreading and prophecies

Home: a cave system going all throughout the underneath of small island.

Family/freinds: her family consists of an adult skywing named Amber, adult seawing called Kelp, old nightwing called Jaggedspine and a sickly Icewing called Frostmind. She was raised with and helped raise five, three year old dragonites a mudwing called Hippo, nightwing called Silvernip, sandwing called Dune, skywing called Solar and an icewing called Snowberry.

Personality; loud and adventurous, Aquarius would love nothing more than to travel and see the bigger world out there.

Environments: two deserts, jungle, icey island south from the mainland, rocky mountains, a few environments

Residents: Icewings, skywings, mudwings, rainwings, sandwings, seawings, nightwings

History; Icewings and Nightwings have a long history of mistrust and mini wars leading to a cold war/peace where the nightwings have a small town near the icewings and vice versa.

Sandwings and icewings have a long complicated history of alliances.

Skywings and icewings have a new war over an icewing princess being killed by a banished skywing

Seawings are the most antisocial tribe occasionally seen interacting with icewings and rainwings

Rainwings seem happy to keep to themselves but have trading history with sandwings, skywings and nightwings

#5 Write your own prophecy:

Find the coldest of Sky and hottest of Ice.

Find the quietest of nights, the largest of sands and thickest of mud.

Only when brought together under brightest night will the truth unfold.

#6 Escape a tricky situation

1) escaping the cave system their in with a frostscale and firescale 2 year olds.

2) escape being hunted down by their guardians and finding a safe place to hide.

3) trying to figure out the prophecy and when the next full three moons is happening

4) finding out the truth of where the eggs are going

#7 set out on a quest. What could your dragons be trying to find?

A safe place to hide from their guardians while waiting for the brightest night.

#8 storystarter: I'm going to skip this since I don't feel like writing m an actual story right now.

Hybrids

I’d love to see more diversity with the idea of “hybrids”

And I don’t mean to make more hybrids. I just want to see a dragon who looks like an obvious hybrid who actually isn’t.

Or a dragon who passes off as a “purebred” (I’m not sure how to get my point across with another word) but is actually a hybrid

I’d just love more diversity with how dragons look. So far all leafwings are just green and brown. I’d love for them to have different spots of color without being immediately labeled as a “hybrid”.

Indigo was a great example. She was straight up purple. And it worked out really well. Sure, it played into the story a bit, with the queen deciding that it was because she was “lowborn”. But all in all it didnt have much of an effect, she just looked different and that was ok.

Because so far, all dragons seem to be exactly like the pictures we get in the books. I just want thick rainwings and scrawny mudwings without them being hybrids.

Some wof design ideas

y'all obviously need some help making some wof oc’s. Now I'm not here to teach you to make hybrids, it think you have a pretty solid foundation on how to design those. No no, you guys need help designing purebreds

Take a skywing for example. Literally there are like no cool skywings out there (maybe there is but i haven't seen one yet). All i see are plain red or orange dragons. But alas, look at the possibilities.

those are all the colors that can be used on a skywing. Ok great, you guys know this. But whats that? you can use any color in that triangle. meaning you can get some incredible colors

the first two are cannon colors, the first one being Osprey and the second one being Sunset. USE THESE STRANGELY PRETTY COLORS IN YOUR SKYWING! Ill show you guys some more interesting colors
