Ok I actually have to write up this crazy fucking dream I just had, completely unprompted
So I had some legit fucking weird ass fever dream about going to a uni for coding and working on ancient computer stuff in a country where there's these propaganda/school material loot drops that are done and managed by the minister of propaganda, who in this case was slavoj zizek. They would drop out of the sky kinda like the drop pod things in lethal company and when they opened they'd just drop random textbooks and vague eastern-european looking propaganda on the ground, and you had to dress up as and pretend to be a Nazi to go over to them and pick stuff up, and he literally shows up in person and thanks you for doing it sometimes and makes sure your Nazi impersonation is up to spec before you open the pod thing.
So I did that and apparently did so well that my entire class got a promotion or something, and I decided to get drunk for the first time in my life, so I ordered two shots of jack and coke because that's like the only thing I know how to order and they just poured me a tall glass of it instead with like a lime on the top, and I ordered fries with it but apparently it wasn't lunch yet so they just made this weird fucking sandwich that was like an amalgamation of like 23 different things instead, and then gave me the glass they already finished pouring after making the sub/sandwich for like a full half hour in front of me.
Also for some reason slavoj zizek was also a visual artist or something and personally wrote and designed one of the textbooks for our classes and literally the entire uni regarded that specific textbook as the "coding bible" and talked about it like it was literally the best coding textbook ever written. It had like three weird esoteric lines of text on every page that vaguely referenced coding and then just a bunch of random designwork that I think kinda looked a bit like the designs on the old US C ration boxes but literally everyone regarded that specific textbook as the best coding textbook in the world. It was some shit like "he who codes, can code" or "arrays let you put stuff in arrays, amen" and then just a bunch of random fucking designs all over the page that had literally zero relation to coding whatsoever, and literally every single page was like that, and there was like a massive essay at the end with like pictures and stuff taking about slavoj zizek and the contributions he's made to the textbook and the nation, and I think my brain confused him with zladislaw beksinski at some point because apparently he also just went by that name for some reason.
I wasn't even thinking about zizek before I went to bed so I assume he must have broke into my house and walked up next to my bed and infiltrated my brain that way somehow.

So, it’s been almost exactly six months since I made this post. I wasn’t expecting it to gain traction, but Neil insisted upon putting a target on the both of us.
Since then, I’ve had multiple people cry “nuance” at me. After all, Mr. Gaiman supports Israelis and Palestinians.
If that’s the case:
Why hasn’t he called for a ceasefire?
A ceasefire would save Palestinian and Israeli lives (both sides!!). It’s super easy to call for a ceasefire, too: “Ceasefire now!” Not even five seconds’ typing. It’s literally so simple. You barely have to do anything.
Hell, sometimes, you don’t even have to do that. Just find an open letter, sign your name to it, and there you go! You’ve called for a ceasefire! You have successfully done the bare minimum!
So, why can’t esteemed wordsmith Neil Gaiman do that?
Maybe it’s not really about “both sides”….
Neil Gaiman is a Zionist, btw.

White King Quartz can purify and help in the transmutation process of negative energies! The white color is a result of liquids and gases trapped during the crystal’s formation. It can strengthen and amplify any gemstones near it.

This is not a capitalist ideology problem that you should dunk on; This is a laws of physics problem that poses a real challenge to adopting renewables!
We string up wires and connect them to power plants to move power around from one place to another. When the power plant goes a little too hard, the wires starts to heat up. (That’s literally how incandescent lightbulbs work.) If the electricity has nowhere to go then the wires will melt and cause wildfires. And blackouts.
This would be a problem even if the power lines were strung up from one socialist commune to another.
Obviously we want people to use power that is sourced from carbon free sources. But we also want to avoid burning down the electrical grid. One solution is to store the excess power during daylight hours by charging batteries, pumping water uphill, or spinning extremely heavy metal cylinders as kinetic batteries. But batteries are still extremely expensive per KW and most of the sites that would be appropriate for water pumping are already taken (or involve major ecological risks).
So instead what we get is called “curtailment”. If you drive past a wind farm and see half of the windmills stationary despite a lot of wind, that’s what’s happening. They have not been “dispatched” because their power would only put stress on the transmission lines and isn’t needed by anybody.

Only capitalism could turn unlimited free electricity into a problem.

John Green's video about Johnson & Johnson is cool and necessary but the chronic liberalism of it it's kinda of off-putting.
Don't think appealing to good emotions might make changes but protests maybe will.

i killed. i murdered. i'm nothing like these sleepy people here… nevertheless, you can actually be grateful? bastard… i’m saying… thank you. because you spilled blood, you saved all of these people’s lives. i couldn’t have done it without you. (ID in alt)
#vashwood#vash the stampede#nicholas d wolfwood#trigun#trigun maximum#participated in altades' dance collab :3 very grateful for the opportunity and many thanks to them for organizing this!#there was a lot of vw arc choices... but i went for the leonof arc bc it's a dear vw moment to me#i think a lot of the leonof arc further breaks down vash's ideology and for the readers - together with ww- to learn that his ideals aren't#pure naivety and that vash knows he's at an odd standpoint with himself. he's criticized ww for shooting rai-dei just prior when ww had don#so on the behalf of vash but here he thanks him for killing on behalf of his home and its genuine. bc vash's presence - although it's not#his fault - he was the reason leonof and gray had gotten to the ship and killed people there. that's the guilt he has to live with and#despite his anger he'd still resolute not to kill. meanwhile ww just did what he had to - beating down on a seemingly immortal monster but#at the core made up of many lives he had to take and i feel as the fight dragged on - his own mentality waned. committing active carnage#while remembering the orphanage... and bearing that guilt alongside the words vash left with him during rai-dei's death#only for vash to thank him afterwards what he's done and for apologizing for pushing his beliefs on ww when he had no solutions of his own#anyway. i just have so an immense love for this arc bc they just got around to appreciating each other in weird ways. though ofc its still#weird and confusing for ww bc every new info on vash it'll just be strange to him as someone who's human#ruporas art

the problem in a nutshell is that both zionism and antizionism aren’t hypothetical ideologies that can be easily defined as a sentence so much as messy continuums of ideas that have, when implemented on a state level, lead to the suffering, oppression, and displacement of hundreds of thousands of people and now diasporas in the millions. The problem is that neither exists as a morally pure ideology separate from what it has been shown, over the last couple decades, to be in the practical sense as an implemented ideology.
The problem is that when many Palestinians say Zionism is an inherently racist ideology that will lead to nothing but their displacement and national destruction they have good reason to believe exactly that, because that’s what Zionism, as an implemented ideology on the national level, has shown itself to do.
The problem is that when many Jews say Antizionism is an inherently antisemitic ideology that will lead to nothing but the censuring of ALL Jews, regardless of their ideology, as evil Zionists and their displacement and national destruction they have good reason to believe exactly that, because that’s what antizionism, we an implemented ideology on the national level, has shown itself to do.
i don’t think you can *two sides* the current state or situation, but you can ABSOLUTELY *two sides* these ideologies as contributing factors to Why We’re In this Situation especially as crackdowns in the name of both ideologies are leading to censure and ethnic tensions and outright violence globally. The thing is that I fundamentally do not believe that Jewish and Palestinian futures and liberations are incompatible. But I do think there is a global level of outright gaslighting millions of people as being “paranoid extremists” for believing that ideologies that have been enacted to hurt them for decades will continue to do so. If you want to fight extremism you have to be honest about what’s been done in the name of *your* ideology to begin with.
