the lack of a response, continuing to watch whatever was on TV would indicate that yes, they were ignoring her. whether intentionally or not is up for debate. though it's been getting easier to not give some people the attention they desperately crave.

there's so much that they could say to that. you think i hadn't tried to help you? how was anyone supposed to know what was going to happen to you? do you have any idea how many times i've tried to save you? but those words meant nothing here. there wasn't anything they, or anyone could do to change the past.

"...now? i'm waiting for something- someone important. an opportunity i cannot let go to waste." any other world they pass through was merely another obstacle, but rachel didn't need to know that.

she found herself breaking her own rule to never interrupt the lives of the people she called her friends—and she doesn't know why. boredom, possibly, or maybe she knew she could trust ally out of everyone with her truth.

funny how she doesn't say how though. as much as she had changed, she was still rachel amber in some ways.

Redesigning Starlo NEO

All right, I haven't had time to put my thoughts together properly, but I do have some ideas about Starlo's NEO forms (or Zenith or Super forms, if you prefer).

1st Phase: Shooting Star

His first phase should not be call Sirius, he is the North Star, and the real name for the North Star is Polaris. Sirius is a completely different star, in a different constellation. I get the joke that he's become a "Serious Starlo," but that's the wrong star, he shouldn't be called Sirius at all.

I think his first phase should be called "Shooting Star," because he's literally a STAR who SHOOTS. Like, duh???

As for his design:

Yellow is actually a mid-temperature star. Based on Starlo's reactions to the Showdown boss fight, I feel like he's someone who would act cool and calm in a real, serious fight to the death. He'd have to be in order to even shoot straight. So his 1st NEO form would probably be a cooler, reddish-orange temperature. Like he's staying calm and giving you an opportunity to give up before he really starts to fight.

His lasso is on fire and burns you when he whips you. And his bullets are made of fire. Every hit has a potential to give you burn damage that lasts for a few turns, or a potential for smoke damage that leaves you unable to breathe, reducing your speed.

2nd Phase: Polaris

Much as I like the name Hypernova for Starlo, I think the North Star should get to shine under the name Polaris, yeah? But he doesn't look humanoid anymore. He still has arms and legs, but his torso and face are replaced by an intense ball of bluish-white light.

His bullets are made of plasma and deal electrical damage. His lasso looks like a streak of bluish-white lightning. If you get caught in it, you get electrocuted and can't move until he un-whips you.

3rd Phase? Singularity

We could give him a 3rd NEO phase (because why not, I mean, Ceroba got a 3-phase fight, even tho ASRIEL DREEMURR himself only got 2, but if Ceroba gets a 3rd, then why can't Starlo?).

This is a desperate, last-ditch move on Star's part and will kill him if he has to stay in this phase for more than a few minutes. Hypernova has used up most of his energy and in order to continue the battle, he has to collapse in on himself. He basically becomes a small black hole. He is no longer able to hold onto a lasso. He has become a living gravity well in order to drag you in. His bullets are pure radiation, no longer being shot from a gun, but from his own body. He will only use this phase if a battle comes to point of "if I'm going down, I will drag you down with me." This kind of attitude goes against his own nature, and is something he will only use if faced with an enemy that poses a threat to all man- and monster-kind.

You can't see anything left of him but two, small, burning, white eyes, and the rainbow-colored tips of the five points of his head. The rest of him has become a black, empty void.

So when would he even use this?

Well, as we've already seen, Star doesn't use this in a Geno run. I have a lot of thoughts on this that need to go into a proper analysis post, but for now, I'll just say that he doesn't even start to develop his other phases until after the events of UTY. Because until the end of a True Pacifist run (that is, sparing Ceroba), Starlo never comes to a full understanding of Justice. He has a messed-up idea of Justice that he got from combining his movies with his monster upbringing. Clover is the one who teaches him that Justice must be combined with MERCY, or else it isn't Justice at all, it's just judgement.

So Star probably would use these phases on dangerous criminals after reaching the surface.

Kirbtober 2024 Companion Pieces - Week Three

Day 14: Miracle

About time we discuss the Hypernova ability in full detail.

In this AU, the Miracle Fruit is used more as a slight power booster. To other beings they grant a bump on all stats with no cosmetic changes (except glowing, colorful eyes), but to puffballs, oddly, that's a different story. This is why the Hypernova ability is indeed an ability, not a state - they change their appearance entirely when touching one.

Hypernova ability is no longer stuck to just "big ass inhale" because screw you, we can be a little creative than that. See those wisps-like things? They are called 'seeds' (I should've shown them as proper seeds but look I'm tired) and each of them creates a specific boost.

In fact, this ability's entire gimmick is boosting an aspect of themselves or allies. There are 4 aspects each user can amplify, albeit they can only amplify one at a time, depending on the seed color they pick:

Strength [magenta]

Sturdiness/Defense [blue]

Speed [yellow]

Personal Aspect (depends on user's bonded ability and the most mastered/favored technique of said user's bonded ability - pure puffballs who don't attune to any ability gets a huge inhale boost by default) [black]

Currently, at least for Kirby, he can only boost himself. He's not mastering it entirely yet, and it's not helped by the fact he doesn't attune himself permanently to it. Bonding with the ability can unlock neat things such as being able to boost two or more aspects at once at the cost of energy increase or being able to boost more than one person at a time.

And yes, the colors are a CMYK joke. Let me have this I learned graphic design.

Day 15: Cutscene Redraw

Learner grasping at straws to find an easy cutscene to draw moment. Seriously, had I have far more energy and time and persistent, I would've drawn the concept for Robobot Armor's activation scene but... *looks at how painful drawing this bastard is* No. Just. No.

Anyways, did you know that Kirby keeps the Rainbow Sword and some legendary final weapons inside the Fountain of Dreams. No, I will not explain further for now. Good luck guessing how and why.

Day 16: Overgrown

Another Hypernova ability-related picture? Anyways.

You may notice that Kirby here lacks a scarf. That's because the scarf was given to him 2 months before events of Planet Robobot, which happens a year after Triple Deluxe. Also, yes, that is a young Sectonia in her young royal dress. She was a decent princess actually, even when she made a second identity as Joronia so she can escape the castle and all...

It's just a shame that once she became queen and the mirror got involved, things got messy... and Kirby was, unfortunately, predestined to kill her. This too, was a long story.

Day 17: Galaxy

You know how Kirby has these starry-like eyes in Star Allies? Well, here in this AU it's… not something all puffballs have. In fact, most if not all puffballs have plain eyes. Either glowing or normal. Kirby's eyes ARE normal… but actually, whenever he feels happy, content, or just really high, good emotions in general, the blue part of his eyes has this whole galaxy/star look to it.

Apparently, this is also a trait that a certain lost legendary family has - apparently, their family were given these eyes, heriditary since birth, as a 'blessing' from the stars themselves for charting them as they were once astronomers. So maybe they are connected? Or is that family not the only one? There are seriously a lot of mystery about those…

Day 18: Mirror

Rare gijinka entry, this time, because I am paying my dues for @somethinginworl's gikabi server. You may remember Seikyo - yes, that is their name - from a past story... yeah, that's the gijinka being featured here. Due to some weird Mirror World rules (and the fact that Seikyo is, well, created not by the mirror specifically, it's by Shadow Kirby), you can consider them a weird outlier... or a mirror of the rest of Team Starstruck that isn't Kirby. Weird how there is no mirror of those two, eh?

The actual gijinka design doesn't look like this, they just... dressed, for the occasion. Don't worry about it!

Day 19: AU/Parallel

Not really something lore intensive or anything but... this is just a really fun bonus. I try to find mutuals who I remember to have Kirby AUs, and then draw their Kirbies just hanging out here, carrying their fav drinks and eating a full pan of strawberry shortcake which they demolished by the time this pic is captured. Madmans.

Welcome back,

Back in 2020, NASA’s Chandra X-ray observatory made history by announcing the most energetic explosive event ever discovered in the Universe. In a galaxy cluster some 390 million light-years away, a supermassive black hole emitted a jet that created an enormous cavity in the intergalactic space of that galaxy cluster.

The total amount of energy required to create this observed phenomenon? 5 × 1054 J: more energy to occur in any singular event ever seen since humanity first began studying the Universe. Only the Big Bang itself, which contains all of the energy within the entire Universe by definition, was more energetic.

But there’s another class of event that definitely exists in the Universe that can output even more energy in a shorter amount of time: the merger of two supermassive black holes. Although we’ve never seen such an event, it’s only a matter of time and technology until one reveals itself to us. When it does, the old record-holder will be shattered, possibly by an enormous amount. Here’s how.

There are lots of events that can be considered either explosions or cataclysms in the natural Universe, where a large amount of energy is released over a short period of time. A very massive star that reaches the end of its life will explode in a cataclysmic type II supernova, creating either a black hole or neutron star as a stellar corpse. Over the final few seconds of its life, it will release some ~1044 J of energy, with hypernovae (or superluminous supernovae) reaching up to or even over 100 times that “typical” amount.

For a long time, supernovae were used as the standard by which all other cataclysms were measured. As the brightest electromagnetic events in the sky, they could outshine entire galaxies, dependent on their individual brightnesses and the overall mass of the galaxy in question.

This illustration of superluminous supernova SN 1000+0216, the most distant supernova ever observed at a redshift of z=3.90, from when the Universe was just 1.6 billion years old, is the current record-holder for individual supernovae in terms of distance.

In terms of brightness, it easily outshines an entire galaxy; in terms of power, it can rival most of the stars in the Universe, all combined together, for brief intervals.

The only things that rivaled or exceeded the energy released in a supernova were gamma-ray bursts or larger-scale, extended events such as merging galaxies or galaxy clusters, or supermassive black holes feeding on enormous amounts of matter. During the 2010s, we uncovered the origin of at least some gamma-ray bursts: kilonovae, or the merging of two neutron stars.

Between gravitational waves and electromagnetic radiation, a significant amount of mass — about ~1029 kilograms worth, or around 5% of a solar mass  — gets converted into pure energy, leading to an energy release of about 1046 J.

On the other extreme, active galaxies and quasars can be even more energetic. Enormous amounts of mass, perhaps millions or even billions of solar masses worth, can get funneled into a central, supermassive black hole, where it gets torn apart, accreted, and accelerated. The matter and radiation emitted can reach a total of ~1054 J of energy, although it’s emitted over about a million years (or more) in time, making it a high energy but low power event.

But the Universe gives us a way to emit even larger amounts of energy, and to do so on much shorter timescales. The key to unlocking this came last decade, when the NSF’s Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) direct detected the first gravitational wave event: from two merging black holes. For the very first one ever seen, two black holes of two different masses (36 and 29 Suns’ worth, respectively) merged together to produce a final-state black hole of a lesser (62 Suns’ worth) mass.

This was an enormously big deal, netting a number of scientists the 2017 Nobel Prize for the discovery of gravitational waves. Over the subsequent years, many more black hole-black hole mergers and merger candidates have been detected, with approximately 100 known so far (to date), and many more are expected in the new and upcoming runs of LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA

humanity’s greatest gravitational wave detector array. In all cases, the same bizarre and fascinating behavior has been observed: large amounts of mass are converted into pure energy over a timescale of just a few milliseconds, or the final moments of the inspiral-and-merger of black holes.

Lord Artemis is immediately adopting Lord Sorrow and snuggling the poor thing. He knows Moons can be emotional creatures and he cherishes his own Moon, Telesto, greatly. He would steal Lord Sorrow and give him love and attention. Lord Hypernova shows up for Moon Child Visitation. Both of whom are stubborn and will persevere the grief aura out of pure spite.

Looking at the OCG card text format, it seems a Synchro Pendulum Tuner Effect Monster is possible, but due to Psychic, and Cyberse Monsters using 5 Katakana letters, it would be more easy to have a Pendulum Tuner monster.

This cannot work in Rush Duels, since Rush Duels have smaller blurb places for card type text, but also because Galaxy-Type uses 6 Katakana letters, which take up too much space.

So, since Rush Duels can't have it, it is unlikely that OCG will have it.

It is still possible to have an Accel Synchro Pendulum theme, by using effects that treat monsters as Tuners, but that is too much effort for little gain, so it is unlikely that this will become a major game mechanic, and will likely be limited to a few cards.

This in effect means Accel Synchro will be limited to "pure" Synchro monsters.

Series 12 main sets currently lack a Ritual cover card. Since it is unlikely that 5D's, and ZEXAL main sets will cover one, and we already gone through the DM ones, this leaves GX, ARC-V, and VRAINS.

Another Ritual Pendulum for ARC-V is not unlikely, but not expected. GX might have a different Main Deck Summon card, so VRAINS would be the most likely.

So maybe, an upgraded Ritual version of Cyberse Witch would do the work.

In the odd likelihood of a GX ritual set, the only easy options would be Misawa, and Supreme King Judai, as the latter's arc largely covered Rituals, for his followers.

minecraft - it's minecraft. I've been on a lot of servers and it's a fun way of playing with my friends because I didn't really have (or want) any pc games aside from this back then

pokemon sun and moon - not my first pokemon game but definitely the most important one for me. I got the game a couple months after it released and then stopped playing for a while, and by the time I got back to playing it I had realized a lot of things about myself (I'm girl) and restarted my save in like 2020 (I lost a fucking shiny tapu koko from an event though which suucked) and slowly made my way to getting a livingdex, which I finally succeeded in doing 2 years later in 2022. I was very proud of this achievement and it's also the only time I've bothered doing this, as every other game I've either done only partial completion (sv) or I just didn't bother to complete the dex (fr and ss). I also want to point out that before getting sun I got every pokemon that was technically possible for me to obtain without trading meaning I got that 1% night rain sos encounter politoed in malie garden which took me literally days of grinding (I really loved the sos battle mechanic)

kirby triple deluxe - really big fan of this game. I have over 250 hours in it and it's definitely my favorite kirby game ever (return to dreamland being a close second, if only the hypernova sections were not forced this gap would be way bigger)

I'm not very sure of what I'd put in 5th place so I'll just put super mario 63 because it was fun and free and I liked to do a bunch of random challenge runs of it (it was either that or one of the mario and luigi rpgs, and I feel like sm63 being a game that I did a billion challenge runs in made it more influential, though if you count all the mario and luigi rpgs together then that overshadows sm63 purely because of how good each game is with the exception of superstar saga dx which was boring and paper jam which I liked because there were a lot of glitches)

Required: Basegame Notes: I have finally finished the crystal store I was building for months and it looks so good!! It's not available for download itself (because it's part of a large mall lot that isn't finished) but since it was quite tricky to find nice crystals to download, I've compiled all the links here. Drawing the Rest of the Copy Ability Stars... Round 2!!

Me: Okay I think I should draw Round 2 first before I go and reboot the Technician Modes Me, realizing that I was so invested in Round 1, that I draw nearly all of them but 3 (minus the Contact Abilities): Me: ...YOU'RE TELLING ME HAD I DIDN'T STOP I WOULD'VE FINISHED THIS IN ONE ROUND?!

*SIGH* Let's get this over with. Here's Part 1 if you're confused.

Burning - This ability is kinda useless but uh, again, I guess Fire is offense and Burning is speed, so they can co-exist! Had to steal all the icons from Nightmare in Dreamland, Canvas Curse, and 64 just to make this. I hope it's sufficient and it's not just FIRE 2!!!

Ranger - I mean, I certainly didn't expect this ability to appear. But okay, sure! Kirby with a gun supremacy. It looks fun to play in Forgotten Land. I just decided to look at its illustration and have it the icon of the gun shooting a star... I might redo this in the future, it looks... Eh...

Drill - Ah yes, the ability that ruined Technician Uprising's canon standing. Before this ability was revealed, I deadset that Kirby's Technician ability would be Pure, which means he has capabilities unique to him only, in this case copying (and of course Robobot Armor shares that too with him due to partnership clause). Sure, the drill itself (which IS his weapon) was already in 64 but as a power combo which, as you may know, I made that state in 64 as a puberty state, which means that's not legit! So hell yeah, Kirby gets to use a drill. Bring on the Gurren Lagann references, people, he can thrive in it. BUT THEN FORGOTTEN LAND CAME. THEN THE DRILL ABILITY CAME. And so everything is ruined, the drill symbolism is no longer unique to poor Kirby. Thanks, HAL! Now I have to grasp at straws! I tried making the best of it though, all bias aside. It gave me a lesson to be more careful with making Technician Modes in the future though, as if the weapon matches the newest ability, I would be effectively screwed. WAHOO! Anyways stealing the ability hat for this one isn't it obvious.

Technician - My beloved. This design has not changed too much, even in its old days. Nothing much to say here.

Hypernova - Okay hear me out it technically has an icon but... The main reason I wanted to change it is because the Miracle Fruit is so mesmerizing. So I decided, screw canon, canon can eat my ass. In fact, I could've made it colorful too, but I restricted myself to three colors because Contact Abilities aren't supposed to exist! So it makes sense for it to break the rules! Yet I still want some boundaries.

Kabuki - Oh god I do not want to remember what the anime did to this ability. I have ranted about this ability before. So now, it's my responsibility to make it real. But the thing is, before I finalized what it would look like, I needed something to represent their magic, and no I do not want it to be Baton 2.0, so uh. Will-o-wisps! The supernatural Japanese thingies! I love will-o-wisps. So uh... yay.

Well, that means everything is settled... though I will have to do some minor edits to the spreadsheet, because GUESS WHAT?! I checked every file and realized that since I stacked each star one above the other, a small part of the other stars got into the imported picture. Now I have to redo everything AGAIN!!!!!

Silver stood on the snow-covered ground, watching the sky as Hypernova Shadow and Rift Super Sonic kept fighting. the two motes of red-gold and blue-white light kepy dancing in the sky, the intensity at which they shone varied as they threw attacks at the other.

"Please, Shadow. Don't give up..."

the hedgehog holds his left fist tightly in front of his chest, as he looks directly towards the fight. Before long he has to actually look away for a second as Shadow performed his Hypernova Blast directly on rift's chest.

"Come on, Come on"

The hedgehog spoke to himself, he was ready to drop his inhibitor rigns if shadow was unable to go on, he was NOT gonna let the present be destroyed by Rift.

The thoughts of the grey hedgehog were interrupted as the two sources of light dissapeared. Rift and Shadow were nowhere to be seen... well... that was wrong. a falling star of pure golden light fell from the heavens down to earth.

"Shadow!"

The hedgehog started to run until he felt a strange sensation on every cell of his body. he looked back at the sky—right where the hedgehogs were fighting a large amount of ruby energy was starting to accumulate. it was like if a star was forming right before their eyes.

the red light covered everything up to the horizon as objects started to defy the laws of existance itself. the entire environment silver was in started to glitch out as the star grew in the sky.

Soon, the star exploded, pure blinding white light burned thrrrrRrRR R R R R R R R R RR R R R

Silver was sitting in the snow-covered ground, watching the sunset as the two suns dissapeared on the horizon, the beautiful golden tint in the sky made him smile.

"its almost a shame I have to go back... but, I had a very good time and met a lot of new friends."

the hedgehog said to himself as he stepped up.

"but It's time to check how the future is doing, hopefully i can return with good news soon!"

as he said that the hedgehog started to walk away. soon all that was left was the imprints of his boots in the snow and a blue glow slowly dying out.

it's like,, tdx is the good ending and robobot is the bad ending. taranza gets a redemption, susie doesn't really. both games start with their established aesthetic, nature or technology, changing the physical environment of the planet. tdx's dreamstalk changing the land turns out to be a cry for help, but the mechanization of popstar is a pure articulation of power. tdx's special ability/gimmick of the game is an enhancement of the inhaling ability -- kirby's first, you could say innate -- and robobot's is an augmentation of copy abilities -- introduced later, you could say learned. the hypernova fruit(?) changes you from the inside, the mech changes you from the outside. tdx is a turning inward towards a crisis that was signalling a needed change, robobot is a defense mechanism in response to an abuse of power. i think the former can also describe dedede & meta, and the latter can describe taranza & susie

it’s interesting to think of meta and susie and taranza and dedede as foils, just as robobot and tdx are foils
