14. Who falls asleep during a movie? lena. lena works nonstop and is always pushing herself. she works so hard to distance herself from the luthor name that when she finally gets to relax with kara and put on a movie, it's pretty likely she ends up falling asleep. kara doesn't mind because it alway ends up with lena cuddling even closer to her in her sleep.
21. Any routines one has that the other had to get used to (ex. morning, nighttime, sleeping habits)? i think lena had to get used to supergirl getting called away at odd hours of the night for emergencies. at first she'd wake up and stay up worrying until kara came back home safely, but over time she got more used to it. she still wakes up, but usually it's just to say a sleepy "be safe" and give kara a kiss before she goes. she knows now that kara would never leave her, no matter what villain or criminal tried to stand in her way. and besides, if it was anything really dangerous, lena gets called in with her.
34. How do they cheer the other one up during sad times? hmmmm. if lena is struggling, kara would ask about her latest project. she loves the way lena lights up when she talks about her gadgets and tech, and it always distracts lena. she loves sharing her ideas with kara, and kara knows that. if lena is particularly upset, kara will also play up how flustered she tends to get just to get a laugh out of her. if kara is struggling, lena would put in an order for all of kara's favorites from all of her favorite takeout spots. she'd build a (ridiculously elaborate) blanket fort and throw on a musical for them to watch while they eat. lena isn't the biggest fan of musicals, but she is a fan of the way they make kara's eyes light up as she sings along.
send me a ship + questions!

a thing that truly endears me about supercorp fics (but also canon) is that the dynamic is consistently kara being such a polite fumbling idiot and lena ALWAYS being like wow what a fucking clown. i need her to nut inside of me
#kara: hey lena :) i saw a puppy today-#lena: if you dont nut in me in the next 5 minutes i will kill myself#this consistency i depend on#supergirl#supercorp#lena luthor#kara danvers#supercorp au#supercorp fic

Omg someone please write this! I can imagine Kara suddenly slapping at her leg like "Ow! What WAS THAT?!" And start scratching her leg like crazy with Lena looking at her confused like "looks like it was a mosquito. Don't scratch so hard you'll make it worse" and Kara just loses her shit and later Lena makes a passing comment to Alex like "The way she was scratching/acting you'd think she'd never been bitten by a mosquito before." And Alex making this "I'm gonna fucking kill her if she outs her secret identity over a fucking bug bite" face while trying to laugh it off. "Yep that's my sister. D R A M A, always something with her :awkward throat clear and subject change: anyway, working on any new projects?"
personally the funniest thing for a de-powered kryptonians fic is them absolutely raging at bug bites, because impenetrable skin means they’ve never had them before
and yes clark/jons powers didn’t kick in for a few years but it’s been awhile, you telling me they haven’t forgotten what it’s like?
just give me supers having to deal with more mundane things while they’re de-powered and i can die happy
#kara danvers has no chill#but Alex it really really itches#first thing im doing when i get my powers back is eradicating mosquitos#kara you adorable oblivious puppy of light#lena luthor

💙 for supercorp , pretty please!
oh brilliant! yes of course!! i was hoping for this one so i'd finally be motivated to write the scene that was inspired by this post. i have literally had it saved in my tumblr drafts since february. and yes i just scrolled through half of my 784 drafts to find it.

“Actually no, we're not ‘dating’. We're bound together for infinity. Like the stars. So, fuck you, actually-”
Alex clicked the remote, freezing the screen to perfectly capture a very outspoken, very drunk Lena Luthor doing an uncanny impression of Taylor Armstrong in front of a throng of paparazzi.
“Can we watch it again?”
“No,” Alex answered tersely, setting the remote next to three overflowing folders, a coffee mug that needed to be filled with something a little stronger, and a cellphone she had to silence after the hundredth social media notification sent it rattling off the table.
Nia slouched in her chair with a ‘hmph’ and muttered something that sounded like garbled nothing to normal ears but very much like ‘never any fun,’ to Kryptonian ears.
“Right,” Alex continued, her attention directed across the table. She’d spent the majority of the recording with her face downturn and fingers pinching the bridge of her nose in what could only be described as ‘resignation’ mixed with the ‘I’m not mad, just disappointed’ strategy she had been trying with Esme.. “Care to explain what compelled you to proclaim you... infinite, cosmic link with Supergirl?”
“Not really, no,” a much more subdued, much less drunk Lena answered.
“Seems pretty self-explanatory,” Nia chimed in, spinning in the chair next to Alex. “Luthor can’t hold her liquor.” She bounced a clicky pen on the table-surface to accentuate the point. Alex gritted her teeth.
“I most certainly can-”
“Channel 7 says otherwise,” Nia grinned. The clicky pen was pointed accusingly.
“That,” J’onn began, and then pen clicked in offense, “is the least of our concerns-”
“Exactly,” Alex interrupted while blindly swiping the pen from Nia's hand and slamming it onto the table. “Do you have any idea how many conspiracy theories have started because of this? This has gone national-”
“International, actually,” Brainy added. “Canada and Australia have both picked it up.”
“Which means it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world is needling around about- about…” Alex’s face plunged closer to a shade of raspberry.
“About what, Alex?” Lena asked. She leaned forward, arms crossed with her super sexy calm, cool, and ceo-collected face. It was almost working too, except for the mischievous glint and flicker of her eyebrow that revealed she was not taking this remotely serious enough for the eldest Danvers sister. “About my throuple with Kara Danvers and Supergirl?”
Alex’s face found her hands. Nia sputtered laughter from behind her own. J’onn stared longingly toward the closed door. Brainy scowled in confusion.
“It cannot be a throuple if two members are the same person,” Brainy said, glancing quickly toward Nia who nodded in confirmation.
“CNN doesn't know that. But fine, call it infidelity, stepping out on-” Lena offered lazily.
“Still not the point. You’ve jeopardized Kara’s secret identity,” Alex interrupted crossly. “And now you've put her in danger of-”
“I thought it was sort of sweet.”
Five pairs of eyes turned toward Kara who, until now, had remained silently observed. She sat at the head of the table wearing her suit and a recent bout of puppy love. Two pairs of eyes were gobsmacked, the third was failing to hide the glee over the entire exchange, and the fourth included a quick wink that made Kara’s cheeks flush even redder and bat her figurative tail even harder.
“Sweet. Right, well,” Alex began again, “‘Sweet’ doesn’t exactly handle the problem, does it?”
“It’ll blow over; these things always do,” Lena added. “We can have Andrea run a boring fluff piece about my night on the town being a slew of misguided comments. Say I said the earth was flat and that I challenged the Second Law of Motion or something. Make it dry. Everyone will chalk it up to part of that.”
“Fine.”
“And we can put this whole thing to-”
“Don't you dare-” Alex warned.
“-bed.”
Alex sighed, J’onn climbed to his feet like a tired high school teacher, Nia bounced giddily in her chair, and Lena was already glancing over at Kara and giving her a look that suggested they were not going to make it through the day without a trip to the broom closet.
Kara's cheeks flushed even redder if that were remotely possible.
•••••••
And so a fluff piece was written, the tabloids took a few lazy swipes at another Luthor edging toward instability, and then the story deflated entirely into obsolescence. The news cycle moved on, Alex's blood pressure returned to normal, and Kara was permanently living on cloud nine.
Everything was fine.
Everything was great.
Everything was going swimmingly.
Until the second video was discovered.
From the same night.
Nia brought popcorn. J’onn brought a heavy sigh. Alex brought a decade of instantaneous aging.
“Care to explain?” Nia asked with her best angry-Alex impression.
Meanwhile Alex was struggling to unclench her jaw.
“Deep fake?” Lena offered lamely.
“Deep fake,” Alex parroted. “You think someone somewhere invested the time to deep fake Lena Luthor and Supergirl making out? For what? Fun? Kicks? Laughs?”
“They already spend hours writing steamy fanfiction,” Lena shrugged.
“They what-?” Alex choked.
“Hot, steamy, inspired sex, really-”
“No-”
“Kara, darling, do you remember the one with my desk and the full-length windows?”
Kara flushed but nodded. Nia squealed with delight. Alex had had it.
“Enough-”
“Or the one where we lived in an alternate universe and you were a cowboy and was your-”
“Stop. Stop it.”
Lena leaned back into her chair, a smile of victory spreading across her face.
“I’m just saying, stands to reason someone might show us in the throws of deep, passionate-”
“I don't want to know. I don't. Want. To know,” Alex interrupted, hands cupped around her ears.
“Cosplay?”
Again five pairs of eyes turned to Kara.
“Could've been cosplay.”
“I can't believe… J’onn can you… handle… this,” Alex waved between the two.
“Should we watch it again?” Nia suggested. “Just to check Kara's theory.”
And without preamble, she clicked play again. It was far fuzzier, far more amateur, and far less deniable than the first.
“Charlie, Charlie, baby look here,” the phone holder shouted over a group of laughing, tipsy NCU students. “Do the impression again, please? I want it for-”
“Yo, yo, check it out.”
“Is that-?”
The camera pivoted from the ginger-haired Charlie to a dark alley between
“Oh damn, is that Supergirl?”
“And… Lena Luthor?”
“I knew it. I told you!”
The stage whispers were doing far more for Alex’s discomfort than the shaky camera zooming 2x onto what was very clearly Supergirl pressing Lena Luthor into a wall and doing a very good job of ripping Lena’s $1,200 blouse open.
“Ooph, Mrs. Fischer is not going to be happy about that,” Nia commented.
A glitter of buttons bounced off the sidewalk, and Supergirl’s mouth was moving hungrily and decidedly across the exposed skin.
“We’ve seen enough,” Alex chimed in and reached, some might say ‘desperately’, for the remote in Nia’s hands. “Once already scarred me for life-”
“But we won’t know until we see drunk, cosplay-Lena’s face. It’s for science, Alex,” Nia answered, clutching the remote like the lifeline to a sinking ship and climbing onto and over the conference table just as ‘cosplay’-Lena pulled ‘cosplay’-Supergirl’s mouth back to her.
“Bullshit,” Alex hissed, making quick work of scattering across the same table.
Meanwhile ‘cosplay’-Supergirl’s hands were no longer visible and the gang of NCU students were actively chanting them on. “Nia Nal, if you do not turn that off right now-”
The chase continued under the table, over three chairs, and around a trash bin Nia knocked over in a valiant attempt to slow her assailant. And while Nia and Alex made a mess of the conference room, ‘cosplay’-Supergirl was making an absolute mess of ‘cosplay’-Lena’s bun-
“Never!” Nia huffed and side-spun before making a poor calculation and tripping over an empty chair. Alex saw her window and lunged, tackling Nia, gripping the remote free and slamming pause just as ‘cosplay’-Lena found the zipper to ‘cosplay’-Supergirl’s suit.
“Do you have any idea the-” Alex’s vitriol stopped in its tracks. Why? Because they were totally and completely alone. No Brainy or J’onn and worse, no Lena or Kara. “What… where’d they go?”
“Probably the broom closet,” Nia mused.

A Flight with Supergirl - Supergirl x Male Raeder
Note: Fluff
"I got you"
Y/N hadn't thought he'd be asking out the girl who had been keeping the city safe since she made the world known about her presence in the form of the blonde girl with the red cape and the identical S on her suit that only Superman proudly wore.
To say he was over the Moon was kind of true in a way, he hadn't thought much of it but when Kara Danvers revealed there was more to her than meets the eye? He was ecstatic, had many questions, wondered if Kara was real and that only made her ever more interested in him, she found him cute, funny, and at times, vulnerable but she vowed to protect him, no matter what happens.
This was before the first date, the two had only met prior to bumping into each other in public, Y/N was nothing but an entertainer on social media, while Kara Danvers worked as an intern for Cat.Co Worldwide Media from time to time...
On the other half? Her real job was nothing short of being a superhero, she worked closely with her adopted parents, Eliza and Jeremiah Danvers who both loved her as their daughter, working closely with the D.E.O. from time to time. And on the other half? She'd work closely with heroes like Batgirl/Oracle, Spoiler, etc.
Kara Danvers was Supergirl, the cousin of Superman and sole defender of National City.
A lot had changed since Kara revealed the suit and cape to the unsuspecting Y/N, his life had changed since then, for the better in a way, but he had to keep the secret off social media for his safety alone, none of his fans could know that he was in touch with the Girl of Steel, not even his family... For now that is.
He found Kara Danvers to be this cute, nerdy girl who seemed to be a lost puppy at times, just someone outgoing and super friendly, she looked gorgeous in his eyes, but after she revealed she was Supergirl? It only unlocked a new perspective.
He didn't ask out Kara because she was this strong and mighty superhero who was more powerful than a locomotive, could fly anywhere; even in space, could shoot lasers out of her eyes and all sorts of other things... He asked Kara out because he was generally interested in her.
And she accepted, though she gave warnings to him about dating her, he didn't let it bother him much, he loved for who she is and would love to go on a date with her.
"I... *nervous giggle* I haven't exactly been on a date in a while" Kara eyed him, not planning to keep her eyes off him anytime soon.
Y/N took a glance at her, she could've mentioned it earlier rather than later but... He wasn't bothered much. He had other shocking news. "Let me tell you" he leaned in. "This is my first time".
"Wait, really?!?" she tried not to shout it out so everyone could hear her, pushing up her glasses to keep herself disguised. "You've never been on a date before? I've known you for two months now and you now tell me this??" she asked him curiously as she slurped some of her milkshake from the straw.
"Nope, and for someone like me? That sounds bad, doesn't it?" he asked her, resulting in a giggle from her.
"If you asked someone else? They'd be lying to you and saying it is" she cooed. "But it's not, I can understand the tension, but you don't seem to be tense around me and that's good" she told him with a big smile. "I'm happy that I'm your first date" she gave him a smile in his direction. That cute, warm smile she'd been giving him since the day they met randomly.
"Y-Yeah..." he began to lean in. "But I had no idea I'd be asking Supergirl out on a date though" he whispered after looking over his shoulder. "Like it's crazy to still think about it".
Kara giggled at his observation, she looked down to what she wore, knowing she had her Supergirl suit underneath, she smiled while sipping up the tasty strawberry milkshake from her straw.
"That reminds me" she finished taking a sip. "I gotta show you something after this, it's something I want to share with you" she gave him a little wink, her words enough made him curious to what it was she wanted to share.
"Oh? What is it?" he asked with a little smirk at the corner of his lips.
"Haha, you'll see" she smirked back. "But damn, I forgot how delicious these milkshakes are" she continued to sip on her milkshake, before Y/N done the same.
"Yeah, they are pretty delicious" he agreed.
What followed after was the pair leaving the diner they went to on their date, their hands brushed off of each other which added to the whole romantic tension.
Kara noticed Y/N blushing after their hands brushed off each other a few times, which only made her grab his hand softly and gently at a moments notice.
"I got you" she told him sweetly, he didn't understand the meaning behind her words, but he'd soon find out from where she was leading him to.
An audible look of confusion spreaded across his face when she led him to his apartment building of where he stayed for now, he didn't remember telling her where he stayed but she teased that Supergirl had been 'keeping' an eye on him, with a wink at the end.
He laughed at the hint she gave, saying how it was sweet of her to keep an eye on him the entire time, if only he knew what was coming next...
She took him to the roof of the apartment building from the stairs, using her super speed to make the journey more quicker which was a woozy experience for him but he recovered soon after...
This was when she began to take off her glasses and cardigan, revealing the suit underneath, before she took off her disguise completely, transforming into the Girl of Steel, her alter ego. He began to realize something was a little off with Kara's plan, knowing they were far up from the ground...
Like her? He had a secret of his own...
He hated heights...
Heights made him quiver, he always feared heights as a kid, he hated them.
It didn't sound as drastic as someone being a superhero, but this was something he always had a fear of, and he had a feeling Kara was going to show him something he feared.
The sun shined through the view ahead of Kara, she floated up a little, her cape being picked up by the gentle wind, rustling behind her softly. Her hair flowed like a golden cape as she closed her eyes, letting the sun soak into her face.
She inhaled and exhaled through her nose and out her mouth, letting out a satisfied sigh, her red skirt soon picking up from the tender wind, the warmth of the sun on her face soaked into her skin.
She reopened her eyes, smiling.
"Um..." Y/N soon brought her attention after he'd been staring at the golden S on her cape the whole time. "Why did you bring me up here?" a tone of nervousness came out of Y/N, as Kara turned herself around in midair.
"I never get to show much people what I see, to show them what it looks like to be up there" she looked up at the sky. "Even if its just casually, sure I've shown some friends of mine but... I never got to show someone like you what I see" she revealed, her words were rather sweet and tender, just like the milkshakes they had on their date.
Kara... Supergirl, looked down toward her date once more, before offering her hand to him while floating closer to him.
"I wanna show you what I see, I want to share this view with you, and it's a perfect time too" she smiled at him, her hand still out for him to grab. "Let me show you".
He looked at her hand hesitantly, before he found himself staring at her hand before shaking his head.
Supergirl took notice of his behavior, knowing something was up. "Is something wrong?" she asked him sweetly, putting her hand to the side before floating down in front of him, she showed a concerned look on her face.
A pure, sweet, generally concerned look...
"I... This may not be the best time to tell you..." he twiddled with his thumbs, looking down at the ground away from Kara's eyes for a moment...
"You're afraid of heights???" she asked him, despite leaving him shocked at her guessing correctly.
"Wha? How did you know that??" he chuckled nervously, his face heated up as he looked at her.
"It was a pretty wild guess" she shrugged. "But hey! That's okay! I can... Help with that" she told him next, smiling at him nicely.
"H-How?" he asked, feeling more nervous by the minute. "I-I-I hated heights as a kid, how can you help me?" he stuttered, beginning to stammer his words before Kara shut him up by placing a finger on his lips.
"I got you" she cooed, repeating her phrase from earlier after she held his hand gently, her hand was warm and soft, the soft wording made him a little bit less uneasy about her plan to show him the view.
"O-Okay" he breathed in and out.
She smiled before swooping him from his feet, into her embrace, carrying him like a bride which was something he didn't expect for her to do.
"You're safe and secure, I'm gonna start levitating okay? The wind is gonna pick up soon once I start flying completely" she cooed, Y/N nodded silently as Supergirl began to take flight, slowly her feet lifted off the roof, stage one had began of taking flight.
A minute had gone by and Y/N began to cower into Supergirl's neck a little, closing his eyes as the wind picked up a little more.
"I-I don't know about this" he let his fears known to her. "Maybe this is a bad idea" he said to himself, digging his face into the crook of her neck, feeling the soft skin and the part of her cape attached and tucked into her suit. Her scent smelt like a comforting vanilla.
She felt his face burrow into her neck, the sounds of her cape rustling in the wind growing stronger as she continued flying up soon followed, she was only half way up now.
Maybe he shouldn't have agreed on this... Maybe something else would've been said instead if he thought about it more clearly.
"Keep your eyes on me Y/N" Supergirl cooed with a little giggle at the end. "It's gonna be okay, you're in my arms, my warm embrace" she continued, the wind began to pick up a little more intensely as she increased her flight speed. "I got you" her coos went forward into his ears. "You're safe and sound within my arms" she cooed one last time before the wind picked up even more.
He could feel the warmth of her words, as comforting as they were, he still felt hesitant... He felt sick to his stomach.
But she was right... He was in her embrace, he was safe and sound in her arms... She has him.
"D-Don't drop me, Supergirl" he pulled back a little to speak, his pupils landing on Kara's eyes as she then looked at him with a sweet smile.
"I'd never do that... Never" the Girl of Steel vowed, she found it a little adorable that he dug his face into her neck and hell, this was his first date and he was already doing this. She couldn't lie but make a mental note that this was cute, and she was supposed to be the cute one around here.
It was no wonder why she suddenly fell for him the moment she laid her eyes on him more, his laugh, his humor, his gentle kindness... He was someone perfect for someone like herself and she didn't really know about him till she bumped into him, even if he was this big social media entertainer on the internet, laughing and gaffing with his social media friends just like him.
"I suppose that makes me feel a lot more better then" he chuckled nervously before gaining the courage to look at her in the eyes, taking his face out of the crook of her neck.
The caped girl smiled more brightly, showing her perfect white teeth, her eyes laying upon his and she knew she had fallen in love... He seemed to...
Perfect, even if he had said before that he wasn't...
Even she wasn't perfect, countless times she's said that she always will make mistakes, but she gets over them and pushes on, everyone makes mistakes.
No one is perfect...
Y/N kept his eyes on her, watching her baby blues stare back into his eyes, before her eyes drifted to the sunny view ahead... And at that moment? She began to fly forward.
Y/N felt his stomach aching a little bit more from the sudden movement, but he ignored it... He did as she told him...
He kept his eyes on her, watching her blonde, golden hair beautifully billow in the now softer wind like a golden cape... Her cape and skirt rustled in the wind in the corner of his eyes also but he kept his eyes on her... Only her.
On the girl he asked out on a date... He asked Kara... Supergirl, in costume... To go on a date with him and she willingly accepted not long after he asked.
It was awkward... But it worked.
"You can look now if you want, you don't wanna miss it ~♡" she winked at him once again with a huge smile. "I brought you up here so I can share this special view with you".
Y/N took up her words carefully, before seeing the ecstatic view ahead of him... He began to make a mental note of where she took him, no longer where was he in the city...
He was high above the clouds, with just her... His date, the superheroine of National City, the Girl of Steel... Supergirl.
"W-Wow" he let out a shaky breath, the view made him breathless, it was a sight to behold. "This is... What you see?" he kept his eyes on the clouds, the sun... The sky... Beginning to think maybe this wasn't so bad after all. "When you fly and all that? This is..." he didn't exactly know what to say.
Was it beautiful? Amazing? Both??
"Yeah! It's amazing, isn't it?" Supergirl laughed softly, her tone all happy and joyful at Y/N's ecstatic view on what she sees. "Flying is definitely my favorite part about being... Well... Supergirl" she admitted to him, smiling all the way.
She kept on flying slowly through the clouds, watching the sun set with her date, setting up the perfect view for her to share with him, she couldn't stop taking some glances at him when he wasn't looking while he was hyper-fixated on the view.
She began to think this could be helping out get over his fear of heights, just a little, he still kept his arms around her tightly, in fear of course.
"Want me to fly a little faster over time to give you a taste of how fast I can go? At this point? I might as well show you around the entire United States" she joked, though she was serious about it still... However, he didn't answer.
He was too busy on feeling comfortable in the superheroine's arms, eyes fixated on the view ahead of them as she continued flying him through the sky, soaring like a slow silent missile, his smile began to grow as seconds went by.
"Y/N?" the girl called out his name, hoping he'd answer her question.
"Just kiss me already" he muttered under his breath, before giggling followed from her with a little blush across her cheeks, gaining his attention. "What?" he frowned. "Wh-What's so funny??".
"I heard you, I've got super hearing" she blankly told him, resulting in him being a blushing mess, his eyes widened at his mistake.
"Oh..." he muttered loudly. Soon after, Supergirl stopped flying forward and stayed stationary in the air, not keeping her eyes off him now. "I-I... Um... Sorry".
"It's okay" she began to lean in, her lips drawing closer to his to the point he could feel her warm breath on his lips. "I was waiting for you to say something" she put in her word before closing the gap, taking him by surprise.
His eyes widened as soon as Kara's lips touched his, her eyes fully closed before his slowly but surely, eventually closed... He hadn't felt this feeling before, not once had he kissed a girl on the lips.
Imagine how big his one post on Instagram would go of him kissing the one and only Supergirl? It would probably take headliners all across social media, hell it could make him more internet famous than he is with the crew he's apart of when it comes to making content for his Youtube channel.
But he was smart enough to not do that if it were the case... It'd be putting a target on his back from Supergirl's many enemies, and probably enemies that Supergirl doesn't face most of the time, especially those in Gotham.
He melted into the kiss, their lips slowly danced with the Girl of Steel taking the lead, she was going to give him a first kiss to surely remember.
Kara moaned into his lips, adding more to the first kiss to make it memorable for him, she has kissed guys before, she had experience, she wanted to make it memorable knowing his inexperience on dating, she smiled through it all.
Suddenly, Y/N had to pull back for air, unintentionally slowly, he was panting slowly as he pulled himself back a little, soon opening his eyes to meet Kara's, who only smiled brightly at him as he soon chuckled.
"So?" Supergirl left her question linger, her smirk soon being known to him as he chuckled lightly.
"I... I haven't kissed a girl before, I know it sounds bad but... Yeah" he nodded before bringing something else up. "I just got kissed my Supergirl? My first kiss too with Supergirl?? Man, imagine that hitting social media? I'd be making the internet blow up" he joked as the Maiden of Might herself soon laughed softly with him.
"You know you can't do that, but I can imagine how it'll go in a good note too" she could imagine it blowing up across social media, before she leaned in again. "But you know you gotta keep this a secret" she cooed, making an obvious remark to the suit she wore, the cape that billows behind her and the hope she brings for humanity.
"You know I will" he told her. "I need to ask, why did you agree to go on a date with me?" he suddenly asked her which in a way, backed her in a corner in a sense, she wasn't expecting such a question but she had a form of an answer, if something similar were said.
She giggled lightly after a moment, the wind casually blowing the bright red fabrics that donned on her sky blue suit, the gold belt that shined and illuminated off the sky and sun, bright colors all around.
"The reason I agreed is because... I thought you were interesting" she revealed, surprising him... He used to always think many girls didn't want to date him is because he was this Youtuber that played games for content with his crew, having funny moments and gaffing around in those games, perhaps she could make him see he was wrong. "And... You are cute, funny and honestly very kind, though you're such a fiend to your friends" she giggled.
"Oh? So you've watched my content?" he asked like a jumping bunny almost. "Damn, I didn't think you'd like my vids" he admitted.
"Oh no, I do, you're genuinely funny. You love pranking your friends in those videogames you all play, that's the type of fun I kinda need in my life to see, just someone who's themselves and isn't afraid to be so" she smiled with a wholehearted meaning behind it.
"I... I don't know what to say" he chuckled nervously, he'd scratch the back of his neck, but being high up in the air? He couldn't... He still held onto Kara for dear life, despite being calm. "That... That means a lot" he smiled brightly.
"I really like you, Y/N... I do. And I want us to be... A thing, I want this to work, us to work" she admitted, though she felt nervous about it all... Dating a human? She done it before but it didn't really last as long as she hoped it would.
"Kara, Supergirl. I do want this to work, I'd be happy for us to be..." he paused for a moment, letting his words linger as the caped girl caught onto it and her smile radiated.
"Good..." she leaned further into the gap between herself and him. "That's all I needed to hear" her smile grew as her lips then connected with his once more to leave a cheeky kiss, pulling back to speak once more soon after. "Like I asked earlier, want me to go a little faster with our flight? I can also fly you around the entire United States if you like?" she offered him nicely.
Y/N thought about it for a moment, he still felt a little sick being high up, but at the same time, he felt comfortable in her warm embrace while she soared through the sky, just noticing she was stationary since the long lasting kiss earlier. "When did you stop flying forward?".
"Just before we kissed" she answered nicely. "But..." she lingered, keeping her eyes on him like she'd give someone puppy dog eyes.
"Sure" he chuckled lightly. "And maybe... If you're fine with it, you could... Stay at my place for the night? I-I know it's early to ask but I-Mmph!" Kara quickly shut him up with a soft kiss, where he soon melted into it, her lips pressing against his like a pillow.
"Mwah! *giggle* of course! I'd love to! Doesn't matter if it's too early or not to ask" she agreed regardless, beginning to continue soaring through the sky as she began to fly forward. "Remember... I got you"
"Wouldn't have it any other way" he smiled, beginning to actually enjoy the flight, despite his fear of heights...
Y/N thought to himself. 'Maybe this isn't so bad after all'...
'A Flight with Supergirl... How someone would be called lucky for that...'

Lovestruck (Lena Luthor x Fem!Danvers!Reader)
@sashawalker2 asked:
I'd like to request this. Fem Reader X Lena Luthor Prompt: “You are my best friend” Idea: Reader is Lena Luthor's best friend. A sweet fluffy fic. Imagine the two going off on holiday and just being very sweet to each other.
"It's so cute that you're going on vacation with Lena," Alex comments, nudging her sister with a shoulder.
(Y/n) looks up from the new suit she was making for Kara – stitching the new emblem into the fabric.
"Of course, Lena and I do everything together. She's my best friend," (Y/n) replies.
"You're so oblivious," Alex replies, (Y/n) going back to her stitchwork.
"What?" (Y/n) replies, distractedly.
"Oblivious," Alex says.
"About what?" (Y/n) asks, looking up at her sister.
"Lena likes you," Alex says.
"Haha," (Y/n) turns back to her work again. "You're funny Alex, she's just my friend."
. . .
"I'm so glad you've decided to join me on holiday," Lena says, her and (Y/n) settling down on their shared couch in their shared apartment. Lena props her head up with her hand as she gazes at (Y/n), her ginger cat, Apollo, sleeping in her lap.
(Y/n) takes a sip from her glass of water. "It'll be fun," she smiles warmly.
(Y/n)'s puppy, a golden retriever named Cosmo, bounds over to the couch. Both (Y/n) and Cosmo look at Lena, pulling off very similar puppy-dog eyes.
Lena's expression softens as she meets (Y/n)'s gaze. "Fine," Lena finally gives in.
"Up, Cosmo," (Y/n) calls the dog up onto the couch.
Cosmo jumps up onto the couch, lying his head in Lena's lap.
"I still can't believe I let you get a dog in our apartment," Lena strokes Cosmo's ears.
"He's our dog," (Y/n) replies, allowing her head to tilt slightly, something that Lena finds very cute. "And you already had a cat before I even moved in."
"Hey, would you mind –" Lena begins.
"I gotcha," (Y/n) replies. She pats Cosmo's back, and gets off the couch.
This was a common occurrence in the household – Cosmo would beg to be let onto the couch, Lena would complain affectionately about Cosmo wanting to get on the couch, Lena would let Cosmo up, the dog would rest his head on Lena's knee, and then Lena would request a glass of wine.
"Cabernet?" (Y/n) asks and Lena grins slightly.
"You know me so well," Lena replies.
(Y/n) moves to the kitchen, reaches into the wine cabinet, and pulls out a bottle of Cabernet. "This one?" (Y/n) asks, lifting the bottle high enough for Lena to see.
"The other one," Lena replies.
(Y/n) hums grabbing the other bottle and pouring a glass, bringing it over to Lena.
. . .
Soft snores escape (Y/n)'s slightly open mouth.
"So oblivious," Lena mutters, running her fingers through (Y/n)'s hair.
Cosmo lifts his head from his place in (Y/n)'s lap, letting his tongue loll out of his mouth.
"I think you know it too, boy," Lena reaches over and scratches behind the retriever's ears.
. . .
(Y/n) stumbles sleepily down the hall, yawning as she heads towards the coffee maker.
"Already made," Lena appears at (Y/n)'s shoulder holding a mug of coffee, and (Y/n) jumps.
(Y/n) takes the mug from Lena, and sips from the coffee. (Y/n) makes a murmur of contentment, taking another sip of the coffee. "It's perfect," (Y/n) says. "How'd you know –"
"I like you!" Lena blurts out, and (Y/n) stops, her eyes widening.
"What?" (Y/n) asks. "I thought Alex was joking."
"Excuse me," Lena looks confused.
"I was working on Kara's suit, and she said something about you liking me," (Y/n)'s cheeks begin to feel hot. "I thought she was just messing with me."
"I do like you! A lot!" Lena says. "You just never seemed to notice."
There is a silence before Lena looks up at (Y/n), watching her cheeks darken.
"I, uh, like you too," (Y/n) says softly. "And like," she scrambles for the words, "not just in a friend way."
Lena lets out a laugh of relief.
"So," (Y/n) looks up from her mug of coffee. "What do we do now? I've never done this before."
Lena snorts with amusement. "I think we go on our vacation, and have fun. And then we come back and tell our friends."
"Tell them what?" (Y/n) asks cluelessly.
Lena lets out a 'pfft' noise and just shakes her head fondly. "Nothing you should worry your cute little head about," Lena replies. "Now, let's go. We're going to be late."
"Isn't it your private jet?" (Y/n) says.
Lena just holds back her chuckle as Apollo follows her down the hall to her bedroom.

Yours Truly, Pink Kryptonite
Supergirl. Kara Danvers x Reader!, Alex Danvers, Lena Luthor
Word Count: 3003.
"As you can see here, we'll start this presentation with an overview of the current business –" You look out the window to see Supergirl staring at you and waving excitedly. "landscape, and, um, the importance of embracing innovation."
You look around, making sure no one is paying attention to the Kryptonian calling out for you from the other side of the window. What the hell could she possibly want right in the middle of your most important work presentation ever?
You obviously know Kara does a lot of things, but working 9 to 5 isn't one of them. She runs off from CatCo whenever she wants or has an emergency.
Emergency! God, there must be an emergency!
Your mouth dries, and your eyes widen. "Or, you know, everyone knows this." You look at your boss, furrowing his brows at you. "We know our company and where we stand. So instead of wasting our time with the introduction, why don't we just skip to –" You press the control skipping through basically half of your presentation. "the expansion to new markets. And who better to talk about that than my team! I'll leave it to you guys, and will answer to this very important call from our program developer. We know he hates to wait. I'm sorry. I have to –"
You slip out of the conference room, heart on your throat, completely unaware of what you just said in there.
Supergirl meets you at the balcony of your office with a wide smile. "Kara!" You close the door behind you, looking around you to make sure no one is paying attention or seeing the both of you through glassy walls. "What's the emergency?"
Kara tilts her head to the sides, like a confused puppy. "Emergency?"
You touch her arms, looking for something that could explain why she is here in the middle of the day. "Yes! I mean, isn't there an emergency?"
"Not that I'm aware of." She smiles widely.
It's your turn to master your most confused face. "Then why are you here?"
"Oh!" Kara lets go of your arm, and puts a lock of your hair behind your ear. "I came to ask you out."
"What?"
"On a date! Tonight!" You're still looking at her like you haven't got the faintest idea of what's going on. "Maybe lunch?" She tries to get a different reaction. "Now?"
You look around. This must be a prank. Is someone filming this? Is today April Fools? Surely not.
"You're not saying no." Her smile brightens up, like this is the most amazing thing that's ever happened. "So that means I can fly the hottest woman out of here right now?"
"What?" You repeat, yet again, baffled by everything that is happening. "You can't. I — I'm working."
"And you sounded so smart in that board meeting, baby."
"Baby?" You whisper to yourself, more confused now than before. If that's even possible.
"But work is boring," Kara strokes your cheek lightly. "and you're honestly so pretty that I'm sure you'd never have to work if you wanted. Oh! You know what, we should do that!"
"Never work again?" You ask and she agrees enthusiastically. "It's not like you do anyways." You try a little joke and Kara laughs like you just said the funniest thing in the universe.
She composes herself, after a loud snort. "Ok. So you're smart, and pretty, and hot and funny. Golly, how did I get so lucky to get you to go on a date with little old me?"
You open your mouth a couple of times, but keep your comments to yourself. She is literally Supergirl; You never said yes to any date; and WHAT THE HELL! Are some of the things you refrain from saying.
"Kara, I have to go back to work. This presentation is really important." You point to the door and she agrees, once again, vividly with her head.
"Ok, ok. But lunch?"
"I can't. I have a meeting with the developer." She pouts like a child, and you can't say no to her. Not when she looks so adorable. You breathe deep. "Dinner."
Kara bites her lower lip, holding back a huge smile. "Dinner is perfect. I'll organize everything, and you just have to go and be pretty, which is basically what you do all day anyways."
You furrow your brows one more time and agree with a nod. You make your way to the door, and make a mental note to call Alex and ask her what the hell!
"Hey baby," You look over your shoulders and back at her one more time. "Your butt looks awesome in this outfit."
"Thanks?" While your face burns red in embarrassment.
You spend the rest of the day trying to concentrate on your work, but you can't really because you need to understand what happened between you and Kara this morning.
Sure, you two are used to a little bit of flirting. Subtle and awfully vague. Just little jokes that usually makes Kara completely uncomfortable, and makes her blush in no time. And now, just out of fucking nowhere, she is calling you baby and asking you out on dates?
You: hey! Kara's a bit off today. Something happened? Alex 🌈: oh, yeah. Pink Kryptonite. Why? You: great! One more! What does this one do? Alex 🌈: not sure. Just discovered it. Send me a list of symptoms.
A list of symptoms. Ok. You can do this. 1. She looked extremely happy. But that's not a symptom. 2. She had the courage to ask you out. Could that be a symptom? No. Surely not. Asking people out is not a symptom of being exposed to kryptonite. 3. She called you baby. Yeah, you don't have a list.
You: IDK, just weird. We'll meet up later and I'll try to investigate further. Alex 🌈: great! Will do the same from here.
Not good enough. You look down on your phone one more time. Change conversations.
You: hey! did you happen to see Kara today? Lena the witch: Yeah… You: everything alright? Lena the witch: If by alright you mean weird, then sure. You: weird how? Lena the witch: She spent the entire duration of our lunch saying you butt looked great today. You: got it ✨super weird✨. Lena the witch: What's up with that? You: unsure. will let you know as soon as I figure it out.
You get ready for your date. It feels weird thinking about it. You've been kinda flirting kinda joking with Kara for a long while. You never thought this was going anywhere. It's not like you didn't want it to happen, but Kara Danvers is not gay. Which is unfortunate for you.
Except today she was the gayest of the gays. Queen of the lesbians. So you can't help but look in the mirror one more time, before saying out loud this time, "What the hell!"
Of course you like the idea of you and Kara going on a date, but it feels hard to enjoy this when it is so sudden and out of the blue. Just yesterday when you were leaving the Tower late at night and said goodbye with a simple, 'see you later handsome', Kara blushed so hard, she lost all her words and stumbled on her own two feet on the way out the elevator. How was she so smooth this morning?
You open the door, after the doorbell rings once. Kara is on the other side, the brightest smile on her face and flowers on her hands. "Hey baby."
You blush furiously. Can't keep your body in check, no matter how much you want to not enjoy this moment before you find out exactly what's going on with Kara.
"You look incredible. You always look incredible." She makes sure, a thumb sliding on your cheek delicately. And it's only the second time she's done this, and you're already addicted to it. "Oh, I brought your favorite flowers."
You look at it, bite your lower lip and hold your breath. She looks beautiful. Like an angel in front of you. Blonde waves cascading down her shoulders, blue eyes as bright as the day sky, smile as wide and white as possible, and she is here holding your favorite flowers. How the hell are you going to resist her?
"Thanks, baby.” God, no! What are you doing? No flirting!
You turn around, putting the flowers on a vase, and trying to keep your hands and yourself busy so you don't jump on her and kiss her senseless. "Hey, what does Pink Kryptonite do?"
"Um, Pink Kryptonite?" Kara plays coy and you don't even have to look behind yourself to know she is smoothing her hand over her vest, right after touching her glasses. "Where did you see that?"
"Well, baby," You turn around to face her. "it seems that you've been exposed to it." Kara's mouth drops, not knowing what to say. You close the distance. "And believe me, I'm loving what's happening here, but I need to know if this is you or the kryptonite talking. So, what does it do?"
"It turns Kryptonians alittlegay." She mumbles under her breath, and it is only with much effort from your part that you understand it.
Your face drops. "Right."
It's not like you're shocked about her revelation, she was acting like the lesbian jesus right after being exposed to a hot new type of kryptonite (why so many?). You breathe out, looking at the flowers and trying to ignore your selfish heart and desire to just go along with it.
"You should go."
"What?" Kara's eyes get full of tears. "But, the dinner."
"You're not in love with a woman, Kara. The effects of the kryptonite will fade and you'll regret this whole thing. So before we do something that can ruin our friendship, you should go."
A tear falls from her eye, and she bites her lower lip to keep herself from crying out loud. Your heart is squeezing in your chest and you're having to summon all of your strength to keep going with this and not just simply kiss her better.
"But that's not it." She tries, sounding small and in pain.
"Kara, it's ok." It's your turn to stroke her cheek lovingly and carefully, wiping the single tear away. "It was fun, but it isn't you. And for this to happen, I need to be you. Ok?" You're explaining yourself with caution, almost as if you're talking to a child. She agrees with her head, slowly, looking small in her tall body. "Don't worry. It will wear off soon, and you'll be yourself again. And you’ll be glad this didn’t happen." You kiss her cheek and give her a wistful smile.
Kara makes her way out of your apartment, crestfallen and so disheartened you almost feel bad. You take a deep breath. She'll be fine. She'll thank you for this when she wakes up free of the Pink Kryptonite.
Gee, a kryptonite that turns them gay. What the hell was going on in Krypton? But also, you wish you were there. The parties must have been wild.
You turn around in your bed, the flowers that Kara brought keep haunting you, because you decided to put them right next to your bed. You sit up, rubbing your face awake. Why the hell did you kick Kara out the door? It could've happened! It could finally have happened! Why didn't you take advantage of it?
Oh yeah. Yours truly, Pink Kryptonite. Ugh. She didn't really want you, she was just gay for a day. You roll your eyes to yourself. Now you'll just have to live with the awkwardness and the desire while you're around her. Great.
You hear a light tap on the glass and you let out a shit-scare scream, only to see Supergirl flying on the other side of your window. You hear a soft, "sorry." when she realizes how shaken you got.
You open the window to find a glowing Supergirl, and it doesn't take much deducing to understand she's been under the yellow sun bed for a while.
"I flew as close as I could to the sun." She explains, still on the other side, but it's quick to make her way inside. "The yellow sun emulators are alright, but there's nothing better than the real thing."
"Yeah." It's all you can say.
"I wanted to get rid of the Pink Kryptonite as fast as possible." Kara explains it further, and finally puts her glass back so she can change back into her normal clothes. "I was going to wait until tomorrow, but I heard you were still up. I wanted to apologize."
"Whoa, I knew you'd regret it, but God that was fast. Must be some kind of new record for me." You sit back on your bed with a loud sigh.
"No, no." Kara is quick to follow you, kneeling in front of you and holding your hand. "I wanted to apologize for waiting for the kryptonite to finally show me what my life could've been like if I had a little bit of courage."
"Kara, you are the epitome of courage."
"No, I'm not. I've been wanting to ask you out for months and haven't got the courage." She confesses. "Do you know how many times I almost called you baby these past few weeks?"
"You said Pink Kryptonite turns Kryptonian gays." She shakes her head agreeing. "For you to be turned into something, you can't already be that something."
"It turned me extra gay."
You bite your lip to hold back a laugh, but she's not scared of showing you her wide smile. "Let me show you."
"Show me what?"
Kara perches up, thumb sliding across your cheek until her hand cups your face. "Let me show you that it wasn't the Pink Kryptonite that turned me gay." She brings your face closer. "Let me show you how you were the one that did it."
"Are you sure this isn't the Pink Kryptonite talking?"
"I'll tell you what," Her breath is hot in your mouth, and you're holding your own breath in anticipation. "why don't we go to sleep and when we wake up you can ask me again?"
"Ok." But your resolution is weakening by the minute, especially after she spoons you in bed and places a little goodnight kiss on your neck.
You wake up with more flowers and breakfast in bed. Kara has a warm smile, and she looks so damn beautiful just fresh out of bed it's annoying.
"Good morning, baby." She holds your face between her hands, thumb caressing your cheek in the way that makes your heart flutter. She’s obviously able to hear it.
You swallow deep. "Is this you or the Pink Kryptonite?"
"Why don't you ask me again after work?" Kara says feeding you a strawberry, and you agree weakly with your head.
She shows up at lunch time, and holds your smelly tuna sandwich out of your reach, convincing you that you deserve better food. She has it all set out on your balcony, a whole picnic that makes all of your colleagues so jealous of your lunch date. Little do they know she actually flew to Italy for that pasta.
And it's another thumb stroke and another, "Is this the Pink Kryptonite?" question that makes her head tilt a little bit farther and she reaches the corner of your mouth, instead of your lips.
"Ask me again at our dinner tonight."”
After work pick-ups and holding hands and perhaps it's Pink Kryptonite. Flowers and dinner dates and maybe it's just the exposure. Movie nights and cuddles and what if it is still turning you gay. Slow dancing to the TV light and thumbs slowly stroking your cheeks and why don't you ask again tomorrow. And that goes on for weeks.
Alex texts you that Kara was exposed to real Kryptonite this time. You know, not the one that turns her into the queen of gays, but the one that turns her bones into flaming hot goo. You run to the Tower and watch her unawake under the yellow sunlight.
"Hey, it's ok." Alex holds your shoulder while you cry. "She'll be fine. A few hours under the sun and she's good as new."
"What?"
"Yeah, the effects of the kryptonite aren't lasting. It wears off if we deal with it fast."
"With all of the different types?" You furrow your brows at her and Alex agrees with her head.
Well, haven't you been wasting precious time?
You run into the medbay, and sit beside her bed. Like clockwork, a couple hours later, Kara's eyes open and she looks at you on the other side. "Hey baby."
"Oh my God, baby!" You run to her, not caring about anyone on the other side of the glass that might be able to see you both. You throw yourself at her, kissing her entire face. "You scared me."
She smiles widely. "And would do it again to have you kissing my face like that."
You hold her face between your hands, and slide your thumb across her cheek. "Don't you dare." She smiles, but soon her eyes widen when she realizes what's coming next. You meet her lips with yours softly. But soon she deepens the kiss, and next thing you know she's pulling you up the bed while sitting herself up. You’re full on sitting on her lap, while your lips crash and tongues slide and hands explore visible skin. And honestly, the yellow sunlight doesn’t help when you’re body already feels like it is on fire.
Kara parts the kiss for some air, and looks at you with full-blown pupils. "Is this you or Pink Kryptonite?"
You roll your eyes and give her a chuckle. "Shut up and kiss me again before I think the Green Kryptonite is also turning you gay."
Kara’s tongue is almost inside your mouth again when you hear a yell from the other side of the glass.
"NO! Absolutely not! We can see everything!” Kara is quick to move her hands out of your butt. “That was more than enough!"
Alex's face is red from yelling, Lena's face is red from embarrassment, and Nia's cellphone case is red from all the pictures she's been taking.
"Keep going! I'm gonna turn these into GIFs!"
You and Kara look at each other, "We should go." "Yeah."
So Kara was right, it wasn't the exposure that turned her gay. Still you do appreciate yours truly, Pink Kryptonite, because at least it gave her courage to be her true gay self.

Seeing Red (rated M)
After finding out the truth, Lena refuses to speak to Kara or the Superfriends and throws herself into L-Corp business. After some personal information about her former best friend is brought to her attention, Lena is kidnapped by Lex. To save Lena, Kara must expose herself to Red Kryptonite. AU-Canon divergent.
Please read tags and warnings if you are sensitive to violence. This is only posted on AO3 because of FFN formatting issues. I’ve posted a notice of this on my FFN.
Lena’s POV
“Thanks for meeting me,” Andrea smiled as she sat across from me at the small table. “These lunches make work bearable.”
Picking up the menu, I nodded. “They are nice.” A pang pulled at my chest remembering the lunches Kara and I shared.
Studying me over her menu, Andrea spoke cautiously. “I’m glad we were able to reconnect. I know it’s hard for you to look back. Even if it was for a business venture.”
She’s holding something back. “It is, yes.”
For the most part, lunch was filled with small talk about L-Corp and Obsidian North. The beta program of the newest set of lenses was going well with little bugs to fix. I skirted questions about my own projects because I didn’t want to reveal anything. As the waiter approached, Andrea pulled out her wallet. “It’s on me.”
Eyeing the woman, I waited until we were alone to speak. “What is this really about? Yes, you wanted to catch up over lunch but you’ve been holding something back all afternoon. What is it?”
Relief washed over the woman’s features. “You’re right,” she drummed her fingers on her black leather clutch. “What happened between you and Kara Danvers?” Andrea continued before I could answer. “Because something clearly happened between the two of you. Before you contacted me about buying CatCo, I thought the two of you were dating. From how she wrote about you in her articles, the fact that she was always on your arm at events, and that beautiful introduction you gave at the Pulitzer event,” she paused. “You seemed happier than I’ve ever seen you.”
“We were friends,” I muttered. Even now, saying the words hurt. Kara was more to me than just a friend. She meant the world to me. I let her in and she broke my heart.
“Uh-huh,” Andrea smirked. “Friends don’t look at friends like that. Since the award ceremony, anytime your name comes up in the office, Kara looks like a guilty puppy who’s being scolded by her owner.” Looking away, Andrea pulled something from her clutch and placed it on the table. “As the owner of Obsidian, I have to keep an eye on what its users do. If I were to accidentally leave this here and you were to take it home and accidentally look at the files, I can’t stop you.”
My brows creased. “What files may or may not be on this flash drive?”
“A copy of the data from a user named KD102493.” Kara’s initials and my birthday? “So, you do realize who this is? Good. Now,” Andrea stood, “I need to hurry off to a meeting. What you decide to do with this drive is up to you. All I ask is that you don’t let it fall into the wrong hands. Have a good rest of your day.” With that, the woman pushed in her chair and left me staring at the device.
Kara said she didn’t care for the VR contacts. That she only wanted to live in the real world. What could she possibly be doing with a set of them?
“May I get you anything else, Miss Luthor?” I was startled by the waiter’s cheerful tone. “Sorry, Ma’am,” he smiled apologetically.
“No, thank you. I’m fine.” With a nod, he left. Taking the device, I called for a car. Knowing I wouldn’t be able to focus on work, I sent Jess a text asking if she would hold my calls and reschedule my last meeting of the day.
Arriving home, I made some tea and sat on the couch. My laptop and the flash drive sat on the coffee table. Knowing what I’ve used the contacts for, I can’t imagine what Kara has used them for. But Andrea wouldn’t have given this to me if she didn’t think I needed to see something. Leaning forward, I toyed with the drive as my laptop hummed to life. My chest clenched seeing the background. I love that picture of us. My first game night. We beat every other team by a landslide. Grumbling, I plugged the drive in and opened the first video file.
Kara cheered as J’onn announced the night’s winning team. Bumping my shoulder, she grinned. “My perfect game partner.”
“I swear, it’s like you can read each other’s minds,” Nia laughed. “Are they always like this?”
“Yes!” The group answered in mock annoyance.
All of the other videos were her playing back a different memory of us. A lunch, a gala, cooking dinner, or even working independently in my office. Opening the final file, my brow creased. This isn’t a memory. Is it a daydream?
I stood feet from Kara, in a white dress, anger radiated from me. ”Lena, please…” She begged. “I’m sorry. Let me-,”
“No!” I growled, turning towards her. “You had so many chances to tell me how you felt! I forgave you for keeping the truth from me for years but this…” My lip trembled. “You let me go to Sam when I needed someone. I fell in love with her because I never knew how you felt!”
“I know,” she whispered. “I should have done so many things differently.”
“You should have. Goodbye, Kara.”
The video ended and I stared at the final image. She is in love with me. What was that? Her own kind of torture? Seeing me with someone else? Why not James? Biting my knuckle, I thought back to when Jack was here and when I dated James. If she is in love with me, a few of her looks make more sense now. The anger I felt started to give way to sorrow. Rubbing my temple, I closed the file and ejected the flash drive. Turning it in my hand, I dropped it in my half empty tea mug.
Taking the mug to the kitchen, I rinsed the cup and crushed the flash drive with a meat tenderizer. That should take care of it. Brushing the remains into a bag, I dropped it into my purse to incinerate in the lab tomorrow.
Walking back into the living room, a purple portal opened. “Hello, Sis,” Lex grinned. Lunging towards me, he covered my nose and mouth with a cloth and held it firm until I stopped fighting.

Keys to My Heart
“Hey, Alex.” Kara calls out as she walks into their shared apartment, a confused look on her face. She drops a small cardboard box onto the island in the kitchen and starts rummaging through it. “Look at all the things I found on the rooftop. It’s weird. It seems like something appears every day. I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. No one goes up there except for me. Well, except our friends when we have parties, but you know what I mean.”
The tell-tale crinkle makes its appearance on the blonde’s face as she continues to pick up each item. She fervently sifts through the rooftop haul mulling over the possible origins in her mind. Surely no one in their apartment building is dumping random objects onto their roof, right? She thinks. Nah, It can’t be on purpose. Why would someone put coins and keys up there? Oh, there’s even a ring! Someone has to be missing that, right? Right?!
Alex leans her head back to glance over the back of the couch into the kitchen to see what her sister is going on about. The redhead can see her sister pulling things out of a box with a very bewildered look on her face. When she sees some of the items strewn across the countertop, she can’t help but laugh. She can already tell this is going to be one of those conversations. She sighs and takes a deep breath before pushing up off the couch.
Kara’s incredibly intelligent. When it comes to science, languages, math, history, and almost any other academic topic, she is one of the smartest people around. However, the younger Danvers is sometimes lacking in the more practical knowledge that usually comes from interacting with the world and experimenting with boundaries as a teenager. Unfortunately, Kara didn’t really do any of those things. Her little sister led a pretty sheltered life in a remote country before her parents passed away when she was 12. Then, she was so traumatized when she was adopted that the Danvers may have been a bit over-protective. Yet another thing that didn’t do her any favors in collecting the ‘practical knowledge’ she needed to navigate the world.
“Whatcha got there, Kara?” Alex bemused, wondering what the blonde is going to respond with. “Are you collecting random things off the street? We don’t have much space in the apartment so you can’t go full hoarder on me.” She chuckles as the crinkle on her sister’s forehead gets more pronounced and her head tilts like a confused puppy.
Kara sighs, dropping her chin to her chest before raising her head and her brow at her sister. “Really, Alex? I just told you when I walked in that I found all of this on the roof. You know I’ve been going up there everyday for the past few weeks to feed the crows.” She grins at her sister as they stand side-by-side combing through the loot. She picks up a set of keys and the ring to present to her sister. “They like it when I feed them and I like spending time up there. Anyway, these two things seem to be the most valuable of the odds and ends I found. Someone is surely upset about missing their emerald ring, but the keys to a BMW? Pretty sure someone is outright pissed about that.”
Alex grabs the BMW key fob and key chain from her sister’s palm, looking at it for any kind of identifying information. “You know, you can take this to any BMW dealership and they can get it back to the owner. These fancy fobs store the car’s service information.” She sits the fob back on the counter and picks up the ring, inspecting it for engraving or some other identifier. “The ring is personalized too. You might be able to post online that you found it and that there is an inscription. The owner will know what the inscription is.”
“That’s a brilliant idea, Alex! You’re so smart.” Kara smiles and starts packing all the little trinkets back into her box. Midway through, she stops and looks at Alex again. “Where do you think this stuff came from? We never see anyone up there and I’ve never run into anybody when I feed the crows. Plus, there isn’t anyone that lives in our building that drives a car that fancy. I mean, maybe someone from one of the office buildings across the street, but how would it get on our roof?” She tilts her head to the side and furrows her brow in thought.
Alex has an internal debate about whether she should tell her sister about crows and their gifting behaviors. On the one hand, it would put an end to the ongoing confusion on her sister’s face. On the other hand, this could be so damn fun to watch. She’s in need of some good entertainment. Her life has been kind of empty since she and Maggie split. She grins, she can’t pass up this opportunity to mess with her sister.
“Odd. Not sure how those things would get on our rooftop. You sure there hasn’t been anyone else up there?” She watches her sister finish packing her little collection back into its box and drift off into thought. “I mean, sure you haven’t seen anyone, but that doesn’t mean someone hasn’t been up there. You said most of the stuff just started showing up this week, right?”
Kara nods her head. “Yeah, I haven’t noticed anything until this week. I fed the birds on my lunch break Monday then came back down to finish my afternoon at work. When I went back on Tuesday during my break, there were coins and shiny rocks. Today when I went up to feed them, I found the ring and key fob so I just grabbed everything.” She scratches her head and looks back at her sister. “You don’t think someone is stealing things and leaving them on our rooftop to come back later, do you? I mean, I don’t think that would be a very practical thief, but I can’t think of anything else.”
She does her best not to outright cackle at her sister, but she can’t hold back her laughter so she attempts to turn it into a cough that ends up sounding more like a combination of a horse and a pig. Trying to retain her composure, she clears her throat and slides her hands across her face to shield her amusement. “Why don’t you give it another week and see what happens? In the meantime, you can post the ring on Facebook in one of the neighborhood groups and walk over to the BMW dealership down the block to see if they can find the owner of the fob. Maybe by the end of the week, you’ll have it all figured out.”
The blonde smiles and slides the box off the counter to carry to her bedroom. “That’s a good idea, Alex. I’ll get this mystery solved one way or another!” Kara excitedly stomps off toward her bedroom as Alex just shakes her head in fondness at the adorable idiot.
“This is going to be fun to watch.” Alex giggles to herself and her sister practically skips down the hallway. She should probably feel guilty for entertaining herself at Kara’s expense and maybe she will, but right now, it’s just funny to watch. As brilliant as her sister is, she thought she would have read all about crows. Apparently her curiosities don’t extend to the birds she feeds everyday. Giggling again, she heads back over to the couch to resume her evening, looking forward to what the next week brings in her sister’s bird saga.
Lena is running late. Her morning started with a 6:00 a.m. phone call from a client she never wanted to represent in the first place much less speak with before she’s had her goddamn coffee. Then, Lillian shows up at 7:30, knocking on her door. They are supposed to be having lunch at The Italian Affair, a new restaurant that just opened downtown, but her mother felt the need to ‘check in on her’ via an unplanned house call for a reason she still hasn’t been able to decipher.
Now, she’s driving in downtown traffic trying to get to the office while sipping on a coffee that is definitively not what she ordered. She sighs, exasperated. She knew better than to stop at the chain store and not her normal little coffee shop. Checking her watch again, she groans, at this rate, she is not going to make her 9:30 meeting on time. A perfect way to top off her annoyingly frustrating Thursday.
She presses the call button on the steering wheel of her BMW M8, rolling her eyes at the traffic as she crawls through downtown. “Call Jess.” She speaks into the cabin of the car.
The line rings three times before her assistant’s voice fills the interior. “Luthor & Lane, LLP, this is Jessica speaking. How may I assist you?”
“Good morning, Jess.” Lena drawled. “Has Ms. Arias arrived yet? My morning was derailed by Mr. Langley and followed up with an unplanned visit from Lillian. Now, I’m stuck in traffic.”
Jess chuckles. “Sounds like your Thursday morning started with a bang, Miss Luthor.” Lena can hear papers shifting in the background before her assistant continues. “Ms. Arias hasn’t arrived yet, but I will put her in the small conference room if she arrives before you do.”
Lena lets out a sigh of relief. “Is there anything else I need to know? Did you confirm my reservations with Lillian for lunch today?” She glances around the car in front of her, hoping this traffic will suddenly vanish. At times like these, she wishes she had the ability to portal to places instead of driving.
“Your lunch reservation has been confirmed for 12:30.” Jess hums as she shuffles through the messages on her desk until she finds what she’s looking for. “Most of the messages can wait until you get into the office, but I did get a call from National City BMW earlier. Someone turned in your fob yesterday. I scheduled a courier to pick it up and drop it off this morning so you should have it by the time you arrive in the office.”
“Thank, fuck!” Lena huffed. “I still can’t figure out how in the hell they disappeared. Lucy and I were sitting on her balcony on Monday discussing a case. They were sitting on the table next to my laptop. We stepped inside to get food and when we came back, my keys were gone. We were inside for less than 10 minutes, Jess! How can they just disappear like that?!” She throws her hands into the air in frustration.
Jess laughs, she can imagine her boss with a scowl on her face and gesturing wildly inside her car. “At least someone found it. The gentlemen said all the other keys were still on the ring as well. Don’t forget to return the spare to the safe this afternoon in case you need me to bring it to you again.” She does her best to stifle the smile on her face, but is sure that her boss can hear it in her voice.
“Go ahead and laugh, Jess. I know you want to.” She jokes. “If it was you in the situation, I’m sure I would be laughing as well.” She shakes her head and smiles. The situation is amusing, even if it is still perplexing.
She finally arrives at the office with 5 minutes to spare before her 9:30. Fortunately, Ms. Arias was stuck in the same traffic as she was and hasn’t quite made it yet. She sweeps into her office in a whirlwind, dropping her bag next to her chair and plopping herself into it. Already exhausted and her day just started.
Lucy peeks her head around the corner into Lena’s office with a questioning look on her face. “You okay, Luthor? You seem a little…frazzled.” She makes her way inside her friend and business partner’s office, easing into the chair in front of her desk as if trying not to startle a cornered animal. “Jess said you had quite an eventful morning. She also said your fob got returned to the dealership. What’s the story there?”
Lena huffs and leans back in her chair, crossing her arms over her chest. “Yes. My morning has been annoying. I still can’t figure out what Lillian’s angle was this morning. She rarely ever makes surprise visits unless she is scheming.” She groans and drops her head back into her plush leather chair. “I really hope she isn’t trying to set me up on another one of her well-intentioned blind dates again. You remember what happened last time.”
A loud and boisterous belly laugh erupts from Lucy’s small frame. She leans forward in her seat and slaps her thigh with amusement. “Oh, you mean the one with the guy that you said looked like Eddie Munster and Napoleon Dynamite had a baby? What was it you said he talked about the entire time?”
The mirth shining in Lucy’s eyes made her lips twitch up in a smile, but she did her best to hide it. Lena narrowed her eyes at her best friend and cocked her head to the side. “Well, that’s difficult to say, Lane. The first half of the meal was about his collection of troll dolls.” She rolls her eyes and glares at Lucy. “Then, he spent the rest of dessert going on about the appropriate temperature of the storage unit he keeps them in to prevent any moisture or condensation.”
Lucy laughs heartily, oblivious to her friend’s annoyance. “Yes, that’s the one! I cannot believe your mother thought you would be remotely interested in that guy. She has to know your type by now, Lena. All of the men and women you have dated are leagues different than that guy.” She shakes her head and dabs the tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes. “Speaking of, you never told me what she said when you called her out about that set-up?”
“Oh you know, the typical Lillian response of ‘he’s from a good family, dear’ and ‘he’s a little eccentric, but he’s nice’... the usual.” Lena throws her hands up in surrender. “I just want to meet someone who’s honest, fun, and a little nerdy. Is that too much to ask?” She sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose.
“People like that don’t just fall from the sky, Luthor. You actually have to go out and mingle in the real world for that to happen.” Lucy chuckles. “It’s not like a bird is going to pluck you for the sidewalk and drop you into their arms! Live a little, Luthor.”
A soft knock sounds on the open door to Lena’s office as Jess peeks her head inside. “Ms. Arias is waiting for you in conference room 2, Miss Luthor. Good morning, Miss Lane.” Lucy smiles and nods at Jess before taking her leave. “The file you need is on your desk underneath your messages. Would you like me to sit in on the meeting?”
Lena grabs the file and flips through it quickly before grabbing her coffee and promptly sitting it back down after remembering how terrible it was. “Yes, I would like you to sit in on the meeting, but can you get rid of that atrocious excuse for coffee and grab me some from the kitchen on your way?”
“Of course, Miss Luthor. I will be right behind you.” Jess smiles and quickly disappears as Lena takes a deep breath, heading to the conference room for her first meeting.
Kara sighs. It’s been a really long morning filled with nonstop work on a sci-fi novel from one of her newer clients. As much as she loves her work, she needs to take a break. She left a high paying corporate investigator job after she got burned out. Too many years of 60+ hours a week on top of her side job. She’d spent years doing proofreading, copy editing, and ghost writing on the side for extra money. After a while, it started bringing in more work than she could keep up with. After her burnout at her corporate gig, she decided she wanted something different. Here she is working from home, choosing her own clients, and making her own schedule. It’s nice.
Plus, she still picks up the occasional corporate investigation client too. Mostly work for attorneys. Well, one attorney, really. Lucy Lane. She and Lucy became friends when her cousin Clark started dating Lucy’s sister. They don’t see each other much, but they do text regularly and Lucy’s office is across the street from her apartment so when they work on a case together, it’s very convenient. That reminds her, she needs to check in with Lucy so she sends the brunette a text before she looks back at her computer screen with a huff of exhaustion.
She’s been working non-stop all day and her eyes are starting to feel crossed from staring at her screen for so long. She’s almost done with this manuscript so she’s been trying to power through until the end. The desire to get it back to her client before the end of the day has been driving her, but it seems her eyes have other plans. Leaning back in her chair, she groans as her back pops and cracks after being in the same position for hours.
“Okay. I need to take a break.” She says to her empty apartment. Shaking her head and laughing she pushes herself away from her desk. “And now I am talking to myself.” She swings by the kitchen to grab the leftover Italian food from the fridge and pop it into the microwave. Then she gathers the things she needs to feed the crows and sits it next to the door. Once she has everything she needs, she heads to the roof with her lunch to take a much needed break and to feed her new bird friends. She briefly wonders if she’ll find any random treasures up there today.
When she opens the door to the rooftop, she smiles. The sun is bright, the sky is a sparkling blue, and the little plants she brought up here give the area a nice little pop of color. There’s also a little table in the corner that has a little umbrella that she stashed up here. That’s where she heads to eat her lunch and enjoy the nice mild weather. She’s just barely finished her lunch and is basking in the sun's warm rays, when the first of the crows makes an appearance.
Kara smiles. She reaches down and grabs the food she brought for the birds and makes her way over to the edge of the building. For a moment, she just watches the majestic creature. Their eyes meet and Kara realizes how much intelligence the crow’s eyes hold. There is an understanding there that is almost startling. She holds her hand out, her palm filled with fruits, nuts, and vegetables. As many times as she has fed the creatures, she’s never offered it from her hand and she’s interested to see what happens. She can tell the bird is hesitant, but she’s got all the patience in the world.
Her patience pays off. The crow she has affectionately been calling Raven in her head slowly steps closer to her hand and quickly grabs a piece of fruit before hopping away to eat it. That happens several more times before more birds show up. A peel of laughter bubbles inside Kara’s chest and floats past her lips as the birds eat from her hand. She’s placed more food on the ledge of the building and just watches with wonder as they feast on the treats she brought. The blonde settles in to watch the interactions and antics of her new pals.
Lena is frustrated. This day has been trying her patience from the start. Her last client meeting ran 30 minutes longer than it should have and now she is running late to meet Lillian for lunch. One of the things her mother hates most is tardiness. Her relationship with Lillian hasn’t always been stellar, but they’ve managed to get along reasonably well since both Lionel and Lex are gone. That doesn’t mean Lillian’s snarky tendencies don’t still shine through at times. Of course that generally brings out her own snark and sarcasm - something Lillian has always frowned upon. It still occasionally gets a little nasty between them, but they’ve learned to rein it in over the years.
When she finally gets parked and makes her way into the restaurant, she can see the irritation all over her mother’s face. She pauses at the hostess station and takes a deep breath before making her way to the stoic woman. Pulling out her chair and taking her seat, she smiles across the table at her mother and apologizes for her tardiness. Surprisingly, there are no petty comments or snide remarks. That alone makes Lena feel uneasy.
They make it through the meal without any underhanded remarks or any snarkiness. It isn’t until Lillian is signing the receipt for their food that the real reason for her mother’s presence at her home this morning is finally revealed.
“So, are you seeing someone?” Lillian asks, a neutral look on her face. “Francois mentioned you have been coming home late a lot recently.”
Lena does her best to contain the urge to roll her eyes at her mother, but they have a mind of their own and she feels them nearly roll into the back of her head. She pinches the bridge of her nose for what feels like the 100th time today and sighs. “Mother, why are you talking to the doorman of my building about my comings and goings? No, you know what, I’m going to be filing a complaint. He has no business speaking to anyone about my private business.” She glares at her mother. “Including and especially you.”
A small gasp escapes Lillian as Lena rolls her eyes again at her mother’s feigned offense. “I’m just a concerned mother worried about her daughter’s well-being.” She places a hand on her chest for added effect, again causing Lena to roll her eyes. “Don’t take it out on Francois. He probably thought you talked to me more about your life.”
“Mother, stop being nosey and stop probing into my private life. I am not seeing anyone. I don’t need your help getting dates and I’m perfectly happy with my life.” She sighs and starts gathering her things to escape this personal inquiry before it turns sour. “In case you have forgotten, I co-own one of the most successful law firms in the city. I don’t have time for your meddling in my personal life. Now, if you will excuse me mother, I need to get back to work.”
They both stand and give their customary air cheek kisses before they part ways. Lena mumbles under her breath about her meddling mother the entire way back to her car and throughout the drive back to her office. She lets out a breath of relief when she parks in her space next to her office building. Finally, she can get some peace from her busybody, gossipy mother. Deep down, she knows that Lillian is trying to show that she cares, but there are so many other ways to go about it. Why she is suddenly focused on her love life is something she can’t figure out. At least she has escaped it for a few more days. She leans forward to press her now throbbing forehead onto her steering wheel and prepares herself for the rest of her busy day.
Grabbing her bag and her keys, she steps out into the glowing sun of the breezy afternoon. She wishes she could bask in the warmth of the rays for a bit before she steps back into her office, but work awaits. Locking her car, she steps onto the sidewalk heading to her office. Her phone starts ringing so she steps to the side and pauses at one of the benches along the sidewalk. Sitting her keys beside her bag, she fishes her phone out to see Lucy’s face staring back at her.
“Hey Luce, what’s up?” Lena says just as a black bird lands next to her bag on the bench. It startles her a bit, but she doesn’t think much about it. “I’m almost back in the office. I’m on the sidewalk out front.”
She barely gets those words out of her mouth before the creature staring at her from the bench snatches her keys and takes off. At first she is so stunned that she can’t speak. That quickly morphs into a tirade of profanities that has Lucy laughing.
“Lena, what the hell is going on?” Lucy chuckles again.
“Dammit, Lane. It’s not funny! A goddamn bird just flew off with my fucking keys!” Lena angrily spit back at her through the speaker. “I’ve gotta go. I think I know where the little thief went.”
Lucy was still laughing pretty hard on the other end of the phone. Lena just growled and hung up. She was pissed. It makes her wonder if this is how her keys disappeared on Monday. They were sitting outside on the patio table at Lucy’s apartment and the apartment wasn’t far from here. It would make sense if the little thief snatched them and flew to the building across the street. From the looks of it, there is a whole family of what appears to be crows hanging out up there. Regardless, Lena had to get her keys back.
She tosses her phone into her purse, zips it up, and secures it onto her shoulder. Preparing herself to march across the street and get her damn keys back from that thieving little bird. When she makes it across the road and into the lobby of the building, she finds the elevator out of order. Of course it is, she thinks. That’s par for the course on this shitty day. By the time she gets to the top floor, 6 flights of stairs later, she is out of breath and even more pissed than when she started.
Kara is having a blast feeding and interacting with the crows. They’re so much more intelligent than she imagined. She’s long since run out of food to give them, but they seem to be chatting amongst each other. It’s interesting to watch their social behavior and which ones seem to be the ‘leaders’ of the group. She’s just considering going back down to her apartment to get back to work when one of the crows lands on the ledge in front of her with something shiny in its beak.
“Whatcha got there, little fellow?” She coos at the bird. It seems to cock its head sideways in understanding and hops forward to drop the object in front of her. “Oh no. Oh no.” She gasps and looks around the roof. There are several more little gifts up here that weren’t here earlier. It suddenly clicks in her head. The crows have been bringing her ‘gifts’ for feeding them. And it appears they really like this set of keys since she is almost positive it is the same set she just returned yesterday.
She looks up at the bird still eyeing her. “Um, I do appreciate the presents, buddy. I promise, I do. But, uh, you probably shouldn’t steal people’s keys.” Kara bites her lip. She feels really bad, but has no idea what she is supposed to do about it. “I’m going to have to turn these keys in again and the dealership is either going to think the owner of them is irresponsible or I am some type of odd thief.”
Kara has just finished her one-sided conversation with the bird and is about to head downstairs to walk the keys back to the dealership when the door to the rooftop slams open. It’s so loud that it scares her and sends all the birds scattering into the air. She spins around. One hand flies up to her chest while the other darts out in front of her in some form of protection or surrender. She isn’t sure which. Either way, the keys are dangling from the middle finger of her outstretched hand.
Her eyes lock onto a pair of the most stunning and mesmerizing eyes she has ever seen. When she finally manages to shake herself from the hypnotizing depths, her own eyes scan over dark inky raven locks pulled back into a high ponytail, pale porcelain skin that seems to glimmer in the sunlight, a jawline that could cut glass, and a curvy, suit clad body. She’s suddenly drinking in absolutely the most ethereal, captivatingly gorgeous woman her eyes have ever had the privilege of seeing. Her brain screeches to a halt and all words promptly vacate the premises.
Lena throws the door open, her anger simmering under her skin like a snake ready to strike. This is just the icing on the cake of her shit day and she’s ready to fight. Well, she is until she makes eye contact with ocean blue eyes filled with sunshine and starlight. Her body is shocked into stillness. Her heart, previously racing with adrenaline and anger, starts racing for another reason entirely. Her mind starts drowning in the depths of those soulful pools of deep blue sea. Slowly, she shakes herself free from the gaze as her eyes track up to loose blond curls, then back down to full, pouty pink lips, strong broad shoulders, to what appears to be her keys sitting on long tanned fingers, and further to muscular, jean-clad thighs. This is certainly one of the most handsome women she’s ever laid eyes on and she suddenly forgets what she came here for.
Eventually, Kara’s brain seems to unscramble itself and she clears her throat. Keeping her hands up in what she hopes is a peaceful gesture, she takes a step toward the mystery woman. “H-Hi. I’m, um, Kara. K-Kara Danvers. I’ve never seen you in the building before. Do you, uh, live here?” She glances around, suddenly feeling incredibly nervous. “I’ve, um, met most of the people in the building before and uh, I w-would have remembered m-meeting you. I’m sure of that. Y-You’re v-very p-pretty.” She snaps her mouth shut and can feel her cheeks burning as she lowers her eyes and starts to fidget with her hands.
That’s when she remembers the keys in her hand. “Oh. I need to take these to the dealership again.” She says, removing the key ring from her finger and moving to put them in her pocket. “I’m sorry. You didn’t need to know that.” She chuckles nervously, feeling the heat climb up her neck.
A smile crawls across Lena’s face. This woman, Kara, is adorable. She can’t help but be enamored with this incredibly cute and undeniably attractive blonde. “I’m Lena. Lena Luthor.” She steps closer, continuing until she’s roughly two feet in front of the endearing stranger. “And I am pretty sure those are my keys.” She chuckles and points at the hand that is now fidgeting with the dangling keys.
“Oh! OH!” Kara says and turns her hand over to offer the object to Lena. “The, uh, the crows brought them to me.” She points over her shoulder to the empty rooftop behind her.
Lena laughs, takes her keys, and nods her head. “Yes, I know. The little bastard stole them right off the bench across the street when I was trying to grab my phone.” She dips her head down to gather herself, trying to will herself not to blush from the simple brush of their skin in the exchange of the keys. Raising her eyes back to the blonde, she smiles in amusement. “I’m guessing this is the second time my keys have made it up here? You’re the one that returned them yesterday?”
“Um, yes. That was me.” Kara giggles, this was not what she expected to happen today. A gorgeous stranger whose laugh makes her soul smile, whose eyes make her heart dance. “I’m sorry my little crow buddies keep taking your keys. I didn’t even know they would do things like that until today.”
“Yes, they are incredibly smart animals. I’ve watched a few documentaries about them. They’re pretty fascinating.” Lena blushes again. She internally face-palms. Why is she saying things like this?! Get a grip, Luthor. You know how to talk to pretty women without being a complete dope. “Sorry. I watch a lot of documentaries. I’m a big nerd at heart.”
Kara beams, a giant toothy grin. “I love documentaries! I’m a big nerd too. We should watch something together sometime and compare notes.” She snaps her jaw closed again and feels the heat claw its way up her chest, her neck, and onto her cheeks. She drops her head and stuffs her hands into her back pockets before swallowing hard and forcing her eyes back up. “I mean, if that’s something that you’d like. You don’t really know me and I realize that might seem kind of weird so feel free to just ignore that if you, um, want to.”
Before Lena can stop herself, she is reaching on to place her hand on Kara’s bicep. She bites her bottom lip when she feels the bulk of the muscle under her palm. She quickly shakes her head and removes her hand. “It’s okay, Kara.” She clears her throat and smiles, feeling her cheeks heating again. “I think I’d like to compare notes sometime.”
She glances at her watch and curses internally. “Unfortunately, I have to get back to work right now since I found my keys.” She jingles her keys and drops them into the purse as she digs out one of her business cards and passes it over to Kara. “But, I’d definitely be okay with you calling to set something up.”
The blonde's eyes go wide as she takes the card and glances down at it. A small gasp escapes, her eyes bouncing between the card and Lena several times before a toothy, lopsided grin fixes itself on her face. “You’re Lucy’s business partner!”
Lena tilts her head and raises a brow in question. “Indeed, I am. She’s also my best friend. Do you know Lucy?” It would be just her luck that she meets this gorgeous woman and she’s already had an entanglement with her best friend. That would track perfectly with the days she’s had. “I don’t remember ever meeting you before. I’m sure I would remember you.”
“Lucy and I have known each other for years. Her sister is married to my cousin, Clark.” She smiles at Lena. “Plus, I’ve done some work for her on a few corporate cases. I used to be a corporate investigator with Jones Investigative Services. I still do some contract work for her occasionally. To be honest, I am surprised we haven’t met before now.”
The raven haired attorney is stunned. She’s heard Lucy talk about Kara, but never knew her last name or saw a picture. While Lena and Lucy have known each other since law school, they never really spent much time around each other’s family by design. They both have complicated relationships with their families and liked that they could commiserate about it with each other while keeping it separate. Now she’s mad at Lucy for keeping this beautiful woman from her for so long.
“I’m surprised we haven’t met before either. I’ll have to give Lucy a hard time about that.” She winks at the blonde and steps back toward the door. “I really do have to get back to work though. I hope this isn’t the last time we talk.”
“I hope not either.” Kara says as she watches Lena disappear down the stairs and fixes her eyes on the business card in her hand.

Request: Baby Danvers is the new vigilante in National City. When her sisters find out, they're overprotective of her but then she shows them how well she can defend herself & ends up fighting side by side with her sisters against the new villian in National City. Maybe they can have a heartwarming sisterly moment afterwards.
Authors note: I am not quite happy with the whole outcome of the story, but I hope you still like it. Reason the Danvers siblings know about your work as a vigilante is because it slipped out of Winn's mouth when they raised the issue at the DEO, but this will not be discussed further in this story.
Summary: As a baby, your parents dumped you on the street. A man came across you and took you into his family where you grew up as an ordinary woman alongside two siblings. But at 20, you accidentally became known as a vigilante who saved many lives and stopped many crimes, only being able to do that because they taught you all the things you needed. You kept everything a secret from your family until you couldn't anymore.

"You wanna do what?" your eldest sister demanded as she used the hand of the soldier and transformed into her protective suit. Alex already knew where this discussion was going. Not for the first time in the past few weeks, this conversation has been reignited when a renewed adversary of Supergirl has been rampaging around town.
"I want to help. Fight by your side and protect National City from the new villian" you repeated, rolling your eyes in annoyance as you sat on the couch at Kara´s apartment, one leg crossing over the other with frustration.
"Out of question," she shook her head to emphasize her explicit comment, avoiding looking at you, knowing that she would buckle if she caught your puppy eyes and the pout. You were too young and had no experience dealing with an opponent who possessed far more powers than simple bank robbers.
It had been hard enough for her to accept that you were the new vigilante that the DEO wanted to hunt down first, but putting you in even more danger than you already were on a day-to-day basis was a no go for her.
"Come on, Alex! I want to be a hero, just like Kara and you!" you pleaded, arguing a fair point. A direct glare and a frown on your forehead signaled the redhead pure anger pouring out of you. Fixing her visually, you tried to intimidate her with a scrutinizing look and steer her opinion in a different direction.
But you hit a hard wall against which all your requests ricocheted off, Alex stayed strong.
"No, I do not want you to get hurt or worse. You stay here, end of discussion" you waved her off and crossed your arms grumbling over your chest. It was not your fault that small tears suddenly welled up in your eyes and you leaned your face in the direction of the open balcony.
Disappointment set in over the fact that the redhead did not trust you to fight at both sides and to be able to protect yourself. You took a shaky breath as you tried to calm down so as not to drop a single tear. Strictly refusing eye contact, you listened to the conversation between your siblings while nervously shaking your foot.
"Y/n?" you quickly blinked away the water that had pooled in your eyes and glared at the young blonde who was standing in the bedroom doorway, eyeing you questioningly. "Hm?"
"You do not need to be angry, you know why we are doing this" she said with pursed lips, knowing that you would like to come with her but in her eyes, you were still to green behind your ears to understand the danger you would put yourself and others in. "We just want to protect you. You are still too young to engage in this kind of war"
"I can decide that myself," you replied without looking her in the eyes. "Like you did when you saved the crashing plane Alex was in"
There was a brief silence, then Kara got up from her seat with a smile and walked over to you. She was aware that she would not allow you to do some things, but she did not want you to see and do things that could probably haunt you for the rest of your life. "We have to go now. I will bring you your favorite ice cream, okay?"
With a kiss on the top of your hair, she disappeared from the balcony with Alex pressed close to her.
As soon as they were gone, you stopped gripping the pillow with all your strength and ran to your room to change into your costume. Over your black dress, which you wore underneath, you put on a wine red vest of decterity with lacing at the front and sides before you underlined it with a dark red, luminous cloak, whose tendrils of roses on it shone bright red.
With the last laces of your black boots tied, you set out for the action. Immediately pulling your hood over your head to protect your identity, you stayed in the shadows of each alley, moving swiftly as to not be noticed until you were in the arsenal of the battle.
Running into the frey, most of the people were running in the opposite direction, making it difficult for you to get to the heart of the fight. As you battled the crowd and squeezed through the narrowest of gaps between people, you spotted Kara and Alex surrounded by several aliens.
You quickly jumped and slid over the concrete blocks that blocked your way while pulling your black mask over the lower half of your face. With a somersault, you landed in an open but secluded place and immediately drew your bow, which you strung with an arrow and aimed at General Astra´s rogue Kryptonians.
Intentionally, one of the arrows broke loose and hit one of her followers with a krypton-made tip while attacking your sisters, making him fall to the ground. All the attention from the people as well as from your sisters and the attackers was now on you.
"There is Red! She is helping Supergirl!" yelled an unfamiliar voice near you and you caught the young eyes of a boy who was hiding behind a fallen tree with his friends. His big grin, despite the ongoing danger told you, that he was one of your fans.
A fainted snort drew your attention up into the air as your eyes met the triumphant expression on the face of no other than Kara´s aunt. Your siblings also had their eyes on you by now, shocked and at the same time angry glares throwing in your direction. "Y/n, what the hell are you doing here?!"
"If I were you, I do wipe that smug smile off quickly" you said scathingly to Astra, and all the assembled humans, the Kryptonians and your sisters while ignoring the redheads ask- You spoke as if fate had now chosen you to continue the fight against her. You were brave, so incredibly brave and you would not give up until you took the life out of Kara's aunt, even if you were more scared inside than you carried on the outside.
The moment you drew your bow with an arrow and aimed it at her was the moment the scenery exploded. No matter what you had been through by now, whatever was about to happen would decide either war or peace.
"I guess it runs in the family," she began, throwing her people back into the fray; who immediately pounced on Supergirl. "Eighty percent quirk that you think your toy could kill me and only twenty percent normal because I can smell your fear from here."
You snarled. Astra was clearly not thinking straight when she let the sentence fall out of her mouth. But you did not have time to think about it. She charged at you, who was absolutely in no shape to dodge the powers of a Kryptonian. Luckily, your sister pushed you out of the way, taking the hit skillfully. "You will not touch her!"
"Get the kid!" she yelled hysterically. Astra was mad, very mad as her blood burned in anger. She let her comrades loose on you and Alex, who dragged you with her, but you stayed away from her a short time later. "Alex, stop. We have to fight!"
"We do not stand a chance, we do not have superpowers!"
"But we have each other," you stated and your fist collided with Nonn's chest who was after you and was now on the ground for a fair fight. Your punched him blast after blast, trying to remain standing, but one powerful punch of wind sent you tumbling to the ground, leaving you with no air in your lungs.
-If you do not stand up now, you will never show your chance to fight alongside your sisters- you thought to yourself and stood up while the redhead kept up her punches and blasts of her gun towards the Kryptonian. "Alex, hold him!" The redhead looked back briefly before turning around and holding him firmly in her grip. You took out a special arrow, the tip bright green, and let it hurtle towards the enemy's chest, not moving any facial muscles as he collapsed.
Alex had not made any move to evade, as she had more trust in you than you thought and had not even flinched at the approaching attack. She stared at you for a few seconds before finding her voice. "Good shot, sister. Remind me to never piss you off."
You laughed briefly before putting your bow back around your body and using Alex to launch another attack on other Kryptonians to give Kara space to deal with Astra. Anyone with common sense would have been scared of their physical superiority and their superpowers, but not you. You were cut from Danvers wood.
ᕚ---ᕘ
Exhausted, you fell through the door of the apartment, immediately threw your bow with the remaining arrows on the floor and lay down on the couch. After a strenuous day in which you sustained a few small injuries, you just wanted to spend time on the couch and not move a muscle.
"Y/n, get off the couch. You are covered in dust and dirt," ordered the blonde in a slightly annoyed tone and you lifted your head over the back of the sofa, your gaze meeting the blue icy eyes that glared at you before wrinkling your nose in response. "Meeh, without food there is no energy and without energy there is no movement of my body." you let yourself fall back into the pillow, earning a loud giggle from the eldest Danvers.
From your position you tried to grab the remote control, which was too far away for your standards. Fingertips danced on the edge of the table, scratching at the plastic of the remote control. Just as you almost pushed it towards you, the redhead grabbed them and swooped your legs off the couch. "Make room,"
Alex turned on the television, which immediately switched to one of the news channels. You looked at it in amazement as a helicopter shot showed you fighting shoulder to shoulder alongside your sisters. And you did not look so bad. "Well sis, I have to say that you really showed courage and ambition today," remarked the woman next to you and you smiled overjoyed at the compliment given. "Still, I have to ask.. What do you actually think of putting yourself in such a situation even though I expressly forbade you to come with us?"
She sipped the beer she had previously grabbed from the fridge and did not tear her eyes away from you. You could see sheer anger in her expression, but you could also see relief and pride flashing in her eyes.
Alex rested her arms with her elbows on her thighs, waiting for you to answer. Your mouth opened and closed, but not a word escaped your lips. Just as you were about to utter a simple apology, her mouth turned into a big grin and she lovingly pulled you into her arms. "Even though I do not approve of you not following my rules, I am super proud of you."
She ran her fist over your head several times in hasty motions, ruffling your hair as you nimbly tried to escape her grasp; laughing. "And I first, little one. You really helped us," the blonde also chimed in and brought the food to the table. She lifted your upper body up to get you into a sitting position and squeezed into the free space that was created.
"Does that mean I can always fight at your side from now on?" you asked and your face enjoyed new happiness. Your eyes were wide, pupils dilated and shining in the bright light of the living room. Your lip formed into a big smile. You promptly sat up, looking between your two sisters and waiting impatiently for an answer.
Alex and Kara looked at each other intently above you before smiles appeared on their faces too. They both began to shake their heads before uttering a "no" at the same time. Rolling your eyes, you took a slice of the pizza out of the box and flopped back onto the backrest in annoyance before taking a bite. "But that does not mean you will never be allowed to do it again."
"What?" your ears were alert and your chewing sped up in curiosity. The blonde paused for a brief moment and turned completely to you so that she could talk to you better. Alex had also now completely focused on you. "J'onn and Alex have agreed to train you in the DEO. As soon as they consider you approved, you can come along on a mission every now and then."
"Really? So you are really sure about this and you do not want to tease me now, right?"
Shaking both heads again caused the happiness hormones to pour out of you. With your arms stretched out behind them and placed on their shoulders, you pulled both of them close to you with full force. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" you were happy. Their heads leaned against yours, both grinning from ear to ear.
"Now eat and relax, you are going to need the energy. I am going to give you hell during training."

Insinuation 2.7 Live Reactions
(This is me, writing reactions as I read, because why the fuck not. They're not complete, mature thoughts taken after I sit back and evaluate what I've read. Consider them as such)
I really need to plow through these faster. I'll be at this all summer and more at this rate.
I felt a touch guilty, for acting under false pretenses. I also felt pleased with myself, in an irrational way.
What false pretenses? :P Taylor, why you always lyin' to yourself? :P
That regret quickly turned to a pang of anxiety. What would they think when they saw the real me? Brian and Alec were good looking guys, in very different ways. Lisa was, on the sliding scale between plain and pretty, more pretty than not. My own scale of attractiveness, by contrast, put me somewhere on a scale that ranged from ‘nerd’ to ‘plain’. My opinion of where I fit on that scale changed depending on the mood I was in when I was looking in the mirror. They were cool, confident, assured people. I was… me.
A year and a half of some of the most intense bullying will fuck you up.
I stopped myself before I could get worked up. I wasn’t regular old Taylor, here. In the here and now, I was the girl who had put Lung in the hospital, accidental as it was. I was the girl who was going undercover to try and get the details on a particularly persistent gang of supervillains. I was, until I came up with a better name to go by, Bug, the girl the Undersiders wanted on their team.
Ayyyyyy! There's that brain Taylor! :high fives her:
I rationalized it by telling myself that I was already in this wholesale. Being truthful about that one thing might well save my hide if any of them decided to do some digging on me, or if I ran into someone I knew while in their company.
This isn't even a bad rationalization, like some of your others. Just sound logic.
Lisa, though, put one of her arms around my shoulders and gave me a one-armed squeeze of a hug. She was a little older than I was, so she was just tall enough to be at the perfect height to do it. What caught me off guard was how nice the gesture felt. Like I had been needing a hug from someone who wasn’t my dad for a long time.
Oh god you poor touch starved girl. We need to get you some emergency kittens, STAT! Maybe an overexcited puppy or two.
Or just Kara Danvers. She's huggy enough to cure even the worst touch-starvedness
It wasn’t an area that had been kept up, and kind of gave off an impression of a ghost town, or what a city might look like if war or disaster forced people to abandon it for a few years. Grass and weeds grew between slats in the sidewalk, the road had potholes you could hide a cat in, and the buildings were all faded, consisting of peeling paint, cracked mortar and rusty metal. The desaturated colors of the buildings were contrasted by splashes of vividly colored graffiti. As we passed what had once been a main road for the trucks traveling between the warehouses and the docks, I saw a row of power lines without wires stretching between them. At one point weeds had crawled most of the way up the poles, only to wither and die at some point. Now each of the poles had a mess of dead brown plants hanging off of them.
Ah yes. The deadsville. Every fictional Urban Dystopia has one.
Our destination was a red brick factory with a massive sliding metal door locked shut by a coil of chain. Both the chain and door had rusted so much that I expected that neither offered any use. The size of the door and the broadness of the driveway made me think that large trucks or small boats would have been backed up through the entryway back in the factory’s heyday. The building itself was large, stretching nearly half the block, two or three stories tall. The background of the sign at the top of the building had faded from red to a pale orange-pink, but I could make out the bold white letters that read ‘Redmond Welding’.
The convenient abandoned warehouse/factory.
Someone should set up an evil lair in an abandoned coffee shop. Just for a change of fictional pace.
I supposed they might have a TiVo, though I’d never seen one.
For some reason, some name-brands just feel... weird to see name-checked in fiction. TiVo is one of them.
“I’m jealous,” I admitted, meaning it. “Dork,” Alec said, “What are you jealous for?” “I meant it’s cool,” I protested, a touch defensively. Lisa spoke before Alec could reply, “I think what Alec means is that this is your place now too. This is the team’s space, and you’re a member of the team, now.”
Cut her some slack Alec. She's still getting used to the idea of belonging/being wanted/welcome anywhere.
Also, like, I imagine Lisa doing that has *got* to get infuriating sometimes.
“Last time he went up against Shadow Stalker, he came back here and bled all over a white couch,” Lisa groused, “nine hundred dollar couch and we had to replace it.”
You shouldn't have gotten a white couch then :P
I blinked a few times, then hedged, “For other local capes? I’ve done research online, read the cape magazines religiously for a few years, more since getting my powers… but I dunno. If the past twenty four hours have taught me anything, it’s that there’s a lot I don’t know, and will only find out the hard way.”
Information is the greatest weapon in the Wormverse, that's for sure.
I stared at her, a good part of me horrified that I’d gotten into an undercover situation opposite a girl with superpowered intuition. Taking my silence for awe, she grinned her vulpine smile, “It’s not that amazing. I’m really best with concrete stuff. Where things are, timing, encryption, yadda yadda. I can read something out of changes in body language or routine, but it’s less reliable and kind of a headache. Enough information overload without, you know?” I did know, her explanation echoed my own thoughts regarding my ability to see and hear things through my bugs. Still, her words didn’t make me feel that much better.
Alert! Danger Will Robinson Taylor Hebert
“And,” Brian said, still glowering at Lisa, “Even if she knows a lot, that doesn’t mean Lisa can’t be a dumbass sometimes.”
Everyone who has valid (even if not always correct) reason to think they're the smartest person in the room has a remarkable ability to also be the biggest dumbass in the room.
2.7 - not quite knocks it out of the park, but definitely very good.

Unreachable Skies - Kara Danvers x fem!reader
[summary: where reader confesses her love for kara but kara rejects her because kara being a superhero would put the reader in danger.] {quite similar to my Guiding Stars but angst and sad ending}
Masterlist
The city's skyline shimmered beneath the gentle glow of the setting sun as Kara Danvers, better known to the world as Supergirl, soared through the skies, vigilant as ever. Below, in the heart of National City, you watched her with a mixture of admiration and longing. Kara was more than a hero to you; she was the embodiment of everything you cherished.
You often found yourself sharing stories and late-night conversations with her at CatCo. Your connection grew deeper, and as time passed, your feelings for her became undeniable. It wasn't just her heroic deeds that drew you to her; it was the warmth in her eyes, the kindness in her heart.
You would spent day and night thinking of Kara. She was just so unique and beautiful in every possible way. You couldn't help it; her smile, the shine in her eyes when she was happy, her cute puppy-like behaviors, and immense joy over simple things like pot-stickers, everything about her drew you in and before you knew it, you had fallen for her deeply.
One evening, as the two of you stood atop CatCo's rooftop, a cup of coffee in your hands. the wind gently rustling your hair, you took a deep breath and turned to Kara. "Kara, there's something I need to tell you."
She looked at you, her eyes filled with curiosity and the same warmth that had captured your heart. "Go ahead."
Your eyes were drawn to her lips for a moment as they curved into a small smile, encouraging you to speak.
Quickly looking back into her eyes, you clasp the hot mug of coffee tightly in your hands and taking a moment to gather your thoughts, you continued, "Kara, I've fallen for you. It's not just admiration; it's something... deeper. I... I'm in love with you Kara. I have been, for a long time now."
Kara's expression shifted, a mixture of surprise and contemplation crossing her features. "I..." she paused, thinking of how to say her next words. "I appreciate your honesty, (Y/n), but there's something you need to understand."
Your heart raced, it was beating so fast you were sure it would jump out of your chest any second now, as you waited for her response, sensing that there was more to her words.
"Being with me, being close to me, it's not safe," Kara explained gently. She was afraid of how what she was going to say next would affect you, but she had to do it, she wouldn't be able to bear it if she put you in harms way, "I've seen the dangers that come with my life as Supergirl and I can't let anyone I care about get hurt because of me."
Your heart sank as her words sank in. "Are you saying... you can't be with me because of the risks?"
Kara's gaze met yours, filled with a mixture of sadness and regret, her heart broke seeing the despair fill your eyes. Kara steeled herself, "I care about you deeply, (Y/n). But the truth is, I can't bear the thought of putting you in danger."
Tears welled in your eyes as you struggled to contain your emotions. The reality of the situation hit you like a wave, crashing against and shattering the hopes and dreams you had nurtured. "I-" your voice broke as you forced the next words out, "I understand, Kara."
Her hand reached out, brushing against yours in a fleeting touch. "I hope you know that this decision isn't easy for me. It's about protecting you, even if it means sacrificing my own happiness."
Kara squeezed your hand, she felt equally broken but there was nothing she could do. She was helpless She'd already lost too much, she couldn't lose you too.
With a heavy heart, you nodded, blinking back tears. "I know. And I respect that."
As the city lights began to twinkle around you, Kara's gaze held yours, her eyes reflecting the weight of her emotions. In that moment, you both shared a silent understanding, a connection that transcended words.
"I hope you find someone who can give you the love you deserve," Kara whispered softly, her voice carrying a mixture of sorrow and longing.
With a bittersweet smile, you replied, "And I hope you find the happiness you've been seeking, Kara."
As the stars began to emerge in the darkening sky, you turned away, the ache in your heart a constant reminder of the love you had confessed, and the love that could never be.
Kara watched you go, turning back to looking up at the sky as you footsteps disappeared down the stairs. Until it was just her up on the roof, with the steaming mug of coffee you left behind being the only indication that you'd been there.

It was dark.
It was loud. Deafening, almost.
Querl Dox couldn’t see Kara Danvers.
Strobe lights blinded him, and Alex had just gotten shot mere feet away from him.
Brainy had pulled the trigger.
Alex cursed as she stood back up and ran to hide until her vest lit up again.
It had been Kara’s idea to go laser tagging.
Brainy had been confused when she had initially explained the concept, in the all the time he’d known his friends, and all the time he and Kara had been in their relationship, this game had never been brought up. But Kara had put on her puppy dog eyes and he had agreed after a quick rundown of how the game worked. And because of those sweet eyes behind her glasses.
He would do anything for her.
But they were on opposite teams: Kara, Alex, and Lena versus Brainy, J’onn, and James.
Since this was a completely new experience for Brainy, he wanted to be on the same team as Kara to have a guide, but she thought the women against the men would be the most fun. Brainy didn’t agree, but again, he would do anything for her.
Brainy’s team was ahead by a few shots. His aim was excellent, of course. Alex had gotten him twice in the first few minutes, but he had adjusted quickly to the loud, dark environment, seeing this game as a relatively efficient target practice in case he ever needed to fire anything more serious in the future. But he could definitely see the fun in this, too. Hitting his opponents was enjoyable. He wasn’t going easy on the opposing team, but he hadn’t seen Kara since the beginning of the round when they ran into the arena. He knew she wasn’t using her powers, none of them were, so, where was she?
Brainy stayed low, ducking behind blockades and half walls. He took his turns quickly and stealthily as he swept the neon paint splattered room. He spotted Lena and shot her quickly before he ran up a ramp that led to a second level to get higher ground. He checked his corners and turned when he thought it was clear.
He was wrong.
He was finally face to face with Kara. He smiled at her, happy to finally see her in here, but was met with a raised eyebrow and a devious smirk. Kara’s eyes were light behind her glasses. Her gun was hanging by her side, so he lowered his too.
“Brainy.”
“Hello Kara, I’ve been-”
His words were cut off by Kara grabbing Brainy by his vest and pushing him against the wall. She was careful, but there was still an audible thud when his body made contact with it.
That threw him for a loop, but he didn’t make a sound. He wasn’t sure how to react. His eyes were wide with surprise but grew even wider when Kara’s lips forcefully met his.
It was a deep, urgent, almost rough kiss. It was harder than she had ever kissed him before. His gun dropped out of his hands and they found their way behind her neck and in her hair as he kissed her back. She kept him securely in place as they kissed for a few more toe-curling moments before she abruptly pushed away from him.
Brainy’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion at her behavior before she raised her gun and shot him right in the center of his chest. The color drained from his vest and he was out.
Kara gave Brainy a real smile then and placed another kiss on his lips. This one much sweeter, and she smiled as she placed it. “Sorry Brainy,” she laughed and ran off down to the first level.
The timer ran out right as she disappeared out of his sight and Kara’s team officially won. Brainy could hear James and J’onn each groan from different places in the arena as they realized the final score
Brainy shook his head, a little in disbelief at what just happened, but also in amusement at the stunt his girlfriend just pulled. “Kara, dear heart, that was cheating! I’m surprised at you!” he called after her playfully but was drowned out by Alex and Lena cheering their victory with Kara down below.
Of course, thanks to super hearing, Kara was still able to hear him. She turned to look up at where Brainy was leaning against the bannister on the second level, beaming at her. She blew him a kiss, winked at him, and shouted “I love you” up at him.
His smile grew and he shook his head again, completely in awe of this woman he was fortunate enough to call a partner in more ways than one. “And I love you,” he whispered down to her.
“Who’s up for round two?” Alex asked the two teams loud enough so they all could hear.
Everyone’s voices rang out in agreement and they made their way to the exit so they could get set up again for another game. Kara waited for Brainy to walk back down to the first level, her hand outstretched ready for him to grasp. He brought her hand up to rest against his lips before he quickly kissed her temple.
“I never expected you to play that dirty, Kara Danvers. It was an unforeseen tactic to say the least,” Brainy chided playfully as they walked together.
Kara’s cheeks turned pink and she shrugged. “I wanted to win, simple as that.” She pointed at him. “You didn’t seem to mind though, mister.”
“I…,” He began, but his words floundered. He cleared his throat. “That is not the point. It was still unfair.”
“Mmhmm,” Kara giggled as they walked out the door into the waiting room. “Let’s switch the teams up, yeah?” she offered as the group reset. Murmurs of agreement resonated around the room and they switched vests around. “I want to be with Brainy.”
He smiled at her. “Always,” Brainy reassured and squeezed her hand before they walked back into the black lit arena.
They were together this time.
And they always would be, no matter what.

Heyyy ♥️ I was wondering you could write a Kara Danvers x daughter! reader {or just partner if your more comfortable with that :) } with the prompts “ nope, puppy dog eyes aren’t going to work this time! “ and “ You’re lucky you’re cute”? Thank you!
“Nope, puppy dog eye aren’t going to work this time!”
Y/n deflates at her mother’s answer, “but you love movie nights, why not?”
Kara crosses her arms, “because you have school in the morning; we are not staying up watching movies until the middle of the night!”
“We could just play hookie,” you counter, but your mother raises an eyebrow, “no.”
You sigh heavily crestfallen, “I just wanted to invite Lena over so we can have family time.”
At the sound of her girlfriend’s name and family time both coming out of your mouth, Kara’s heart is melting, and there is absolutely no way she can refuse now.
With a smile she cups your cheeks, finally relenting to an impromptu movie night, “you’re lucky you’re cute.”
