Not Kara texting this to Lena with a hundred exclamation points lol I know I read a fanfiction that was super sweet where she started to hug Lena all the time and call them Maintenance hugs.
"Its SCIENCE Lena. You can't argue with SCIENCE."
Lena:
"No I suppose I can't... For science."
Happy golden retriever Kara: "Strictly for science."

14. Chill
(on ao3 here)
Nia Nal: Hey, wanna come over tonight and watch a movie? We can just chill.
Lena rereads the texts from her friend with a puzzled look on her face. It's been a while since she hung out with Nia one on one. Lena enjoys spending time with the younger woman, both in a group setting and alone, but something seems fishy about these texts. Nia, like Kara, isn't very subtle at the best of times, and Lena just has a feeling.
Whatever it is, Lena thinks, it'd be good to spend some time with Nia. Plus, Kara has a sisters night with Alex, and this will ensure that Lena doesn't work too late.
Sure, she types out on her phone, I'd love to! <3
Great! Come over at 7. I'll have food. Lena locks her phone and shakes her head.
------
"It's open!" Lena hears Nia shout as she knocks on her apartment door. Lena pushes the door open and sees Nia and Kelly sitting on the couch, in the middle of a discussion.
"Kelly! I didn't realize you were coming," Lena says, placing her bag on the kitchen counter. Nia suddenly stands up and clears her throat.
Lena frowns suspiciously and raises an eyebrow. "What's going on?"
"Welcome to your intervention!" Nia exclaims. Kelly elbows her. "What?"
"My…intervention? For what?" Lena has no idea what has come over her friends.
"Well, since Nia has decided to just jump into this," Kelly looks over at Nia with an exasperated look. Nia crosses her arms and shrugs, sitting back down. "We wanted to talk to you about Kara."
"Kara? Is she okay?" Lena asked worriedly. Nia rolls her eyes and groans at Lena's immediate panic.
Kelly gets up and crosses to Lena, grabbing her arm comfortingly. "Yes, Kara's fine. She's with Alex. This is a good thing, I promise."
"We know you're in love with Kara, and we think it's about time you did something about it," Nia spills in a rush. Kelly sighs.
Lena has had years of practice for this moment. She arranges her face into a look of disbelief, letting out a small chuckle. "Nia, Kara and I are just friends."
"Oh, come on Lena. I've been watching the two of you for years." Nia joins them in the center of the room. "That's not going to work on me. I've seen your lovesick heart eyes you always give her the moment she enters the room. I've had to watch Kara get handsy with you on one too many game night." Nia's nose crinkles slightly. "Don't get me wrong, you two are adorable, but sometimes it's like, sickening. Last game night, Kara couldn't stop kissing your forehead. She kissed you, like three times!"
It was five, actually. Lena remembers. Oh, Lena remembers. Kara was always very physical with Lena, this was true. But Kara was definitely straight. That fact builds the foundation of Lena's determination to never let Kara know that Lena's very much in love with her, has been for years. After everything they've been through, Lena doesn't want this one last secret to break them.
She shakes her head. "We're friends," Lena emphasizes, crossing her arms. "That's just how Kara treats her friends. You know! You're both friends with her."
Kelly and Nia exchange glances. "Lena, really? Have you not been paying attention? I'm her friend, too. We don't do that. Ever."
"Kara Danvers has never kissed me on the forehead," Kelly chimes in with a laugh. "I'd feel kind of awkward about it, to be honest, seeing as she's my fiancee's sister."
Lena sinks to the couch. Now that she was thinking about it, Kara wasn't as handsy with her other friends as she was with Lena. Had she missed something? Or perhaps, had she tried not to notice something in a desperate, scared attempt to ensure that her newly-rekindled friendship didn't experience any new tremors that could shake them apart again.
"Lena," Kelly starts, grabbing her hands and sitting next to her on the couch. "When you found out that Kara was Supergirl, I thought the two of you had broken up. I didn't know that Kara was Supergirl yet, and I didn't have any other explanation for what happened. I was the one who made Alex realize that Kara is in love with you."
"Kara's not in love with me," Lena says automatically with a snort. She closes her eyes at her words. "Sorry, it's a reflex." Kelly squeezes her hands.
Lena shakes her head, trying to make sense of all of this. "You're telling me that Alex knows too? Does everyone know?"
"Pretty much!" Nia pipes in. "We have a whole group chat about it."
"Nia!" Kelly admonishes. Lena buries her face in her hands.
"I think you're missing the point, Lena. The two of you clearly have feelings for each other. You both deserve to be happy, especially after everything that's happened," Kelly says sincerely.
Lena rests her elbows on her knees, head in her hands, and sighs. "That's just it, Kelly." She closes her eyes in defeat. "After everything that's happened, I can't risk losing her again. I can't."
"Who says you'd be losing anything? What about all the things you'd gain?" Lena opens her mouth to argue when there's a knock at the door. Nia's brow furrows, and Kelly gets up. She crosses the apartment to open the door.
Lena's eyes widen as she takes in Kara in the doorway, chest heaving and looking determined.
"Kara? What are you doing here?" Nia's voice trails off as Kara rushes in to the apartment.
Kelly doesn't look surprised, though. "That was…shorter than expected," she laughs. Alex rushes up to the doorway behind Kara. She grabs her fiancee's hand and places a kiss on her cheek.
"I know. I was surprised by how quickly I convinced her," Alex answers. They share a look conspiratorially.
Lena's barely paying attention to anyone but Kara as she crosses the room in three long strides to stand in front of Lena.
"Lena," she breathes. Her crystal-blue eyes are focused on Lena's lips, and Lena can see the yearning in them. Before Lena has a chance to do anything, Kara grabs either side of Lena's face and pulls her in for a kiss.
Nia squeals in the background, and Alex groans, but Lena barely notices. She hears something that sounds like a high five, but Kara's lips are on hers, so soft and moving gently and spreading goosebumps up Lena's arms. Kara tastes like spring and her mouth is so warm and oh, her tongue is licking into Lena's mouth. Lena lets out a soft sigh, hands slipping under Kara's shirt and fingertips running across Kara's firm abs.
Kara groans and cards her fingers through the base of Lena's ponytail. The kiss is quickly tipping from chaste to something more, and Lena can't find it in herself to pull away.
Nia's voice breaks Lena's stupor. "Hey, guys? This, uh, this is my apartment. Maybe you should go back to yours?" Kara pulls back suddenly. Her eyes search Lena's face, and Lena nods. Kara gathers Lena in her arms and walks to the window.
"Bye, be safe, make good choices, consent is sexy!" Nia yells at them as Kara flies her out the window and to Kara's apartment.
Later that evening, Lena is laying naked, wrapped in two strong Kryptonian arms as Kara mouths gently at Lena's neck. Lena threads her fingers through Kara's hair, playing with the soft baby hairs at the base of her neck.
"I guess you got an intervention, too," she whispers, giggling. Kara hums.
"Yep," she pops the 'p' at the end, nuzzling into her hair. "Isn't our family the worst?"
"Mhmm," Lena sighs as Kara nips behind her ear. "Remind me to buy Kelly and Alex the most expensive thing on their registry." She feels Kara grin against her neck as her hands wander back down below the sheets. Lena's hips buck slightly as Kara's fingertips graze her inner thigh. "Or maybe, just their entire registry. And something for Nia, too."
"We'll make sure to thank them," Kara picks her head up from where she was making her way down Lena's body, leaving behind soft kisses. Her eyes are midnight blue, dark and gorgeous and wanting, and Lena shivers. "Right now, I'd like to ravish you again, if that's okay."
Well, Lena's not going to stop her.

L-Corp and chilled scotch
The scotch pours into her cup, the chill saturates through the glass, and the temptation to just throw the glass and drink directly from the bottle taunts her yet again. She resists.
Unlike her ability to resist Kara.
Kara Danvers or rather Supergirl, the hero that is the beloved of National City.
And a habitual liar.
She throws back the scotch, the cool temperature a balm across the burn of the alcohol. Hope sits on her desk, a swirling cubical sculpture, that offers up yet another simulation for Lena to attempt.
Or would have.
The doors swing open with a bang, and Samantha Arias stands there, an expression of fury on her usually smug or gentle expressions.
"Lena Kieran Luthor," she snaps. "I am sick of you dodging my phone calls."
"Oh?" She pours herself another drink and wishes she'd told Jess to not allow anyone into her office. She'd forgotten Sam had full access to her still.
"Normally I'd just roll with it." Sam slams the doors shut, marches over and plucks the glass right out of Lena's hands. "But to ghost Ruby? Your goddaughter?"
So that's the source of Sam's fury. Lena crosses her arms over her chest.
"Now that I won't allow. Ruby adores you, Lena, and you do not get to ice her out like this."
"It's better for her," Lena starts to say, but Sam does the unthinkable. She dumps the scotch into the garbage. "Hey! That's damn good scotch you're wasting!"
"I don't want to have this talk if you're drunk." Sam sighs and presses flips her hair over her shoulder. "I think it's time Ruby and I returned to National CIty, Lena."
"No, you're will not." Lena scowls. "You have Metropolis."
"And what good is that if my best friend is currently ghosting her goddaughter, drinking her life away, and apparently mismanaging L-Corp's funds?" Sam stabs her finger at Lena's chest. "Don't think I haven't noticed that either. What the hell has you this worked up? Is it Kara?"
Lena attempts to school her face in time but the shock of Sam's very accurate guess slips out for a brief second. Long enough for Sam to catch it.
"It is Kara." The fury that Sam rode in with switches to concern. "Lena, whatever happened? You don't have to face it alone. I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you."
"You don't know what I've done, Sam," Lena says flatly. She doesn't want Sam's pity. "Would you want a murderer interacting with Ruby?"
Sam flips her hair over her shoulder again and does a rather dashing pose that reminds Lena far too much of Reign. "Guess whose body murdered dozens and destabilized Earth's climate? Yup, that's me!"
"It wasn't really you," Lena protests.
"Does it matter?" Sam gestures to the sofa, and when Lena doesn't move, she, far more gently than Lena deserves, pushes her down and settles next to her. "Reign, in my body, tried to kill Ruby. There are times Ruby looks at me, and I see fear in her eyes. That's not something we can just erase from her memory, Lena. My hands are coated in blood regardless of who did it. I must live with that, so whatever you've done? It can't be worse than that."
"I killed my brother, Sam," Lena blurts out, and is appalled at herself. She's never said it out loud like this before. Not since she shot Lex, saw his proof of Kara Danvers = Supergirl, and then lit the whole bunker on fire, sealing it forever in concrete and metal with the DNA lock. "Took my pistol, and shot him right in the chest. My own brother. And I did it thinking I was saving Kara, saving the world. But I was a fool." She looks away and reaches for the scotch.
Sam puts it out of her reach and grasps her hands instead. "You're not a fool," she says, softly. "You did what you thought was right."
"Right," Lena sneers. "What even is rightness? Do you know what it feels like to hold the pistol in your hands, Sam? To feel its heft? To smell the gunpowder, hear the bang, the gush of blood? What of that metallic smell? The acidic smoke of a body burning?"
Sam continues to hold her hands, her thumb rubbing back and forth, but she says nothing. Only tilts her head, listening.
It infuriates Lena, but she doesn't want Sam to let go. She feels unmoored, her entire body vibrating with a vicious energy, where she wants those that hurt her to bleed. But Kara can't bleed. She stronger than goddamn steel. No, she can only rip Kara apart, so that Kara has nothing. Just like Kara's damn secret did to Lena's heart.
"As he coughs up blood," she uses the most descriptive language she can in hopes it'll convince Sam to give up on her, "he dragged himself to his computer, turned on the TVs, and showed me exactly who Kara Danvers is. Lex with his dying breaths, his blood filled lungs, said I've been a goddamn fool. Unable to see what was right in front of my eyes." The tears sting her eyes, and that makes her even more angry.
Still Sam doesn't say anything.
"Say something, Sam!" Lena snaps. "Tell me that I'm a monster! A murderer. A villain! It's apparently what Kara thinks. She lied to me again and again, and this whole time she was Supergirl. Probably keeping me, the Luthor, close to make sure I stay in line. So let's be honest, let's lay it all out, don't we? I'm a villain. My family are villains, that's all I'll ever be."
Sam sighs. "No, Lena. No you were never the villain. You've always been the hero. I wouldn't be here if not for you. Ruby wouldn't be here. None of us would. You've saved so many a thousand times over." Her words rain onto Lena's desiccated heart, and the tears threaten to overflow. "And no you are not like your family. I don't know what Kara's deal is. Why she kept that truth from you, but I do know you. And you can't and won't ever be a villain."
"I killed my own brother, Sam," Lena argues.
"Yes, you told me. That doesn't make you a villain." Sam leans closer, her brown eyes intense. "I know that can change a person. Taking a life like that? It's not easy to bear. It sucks, I know."
"You don't even remember what Reign did," Lena says, irritated.
"I do actually. Not all of it, but..." The haunted look in Sam's eye floods Lena with guilt and a hint of disbelief. "When you were working to find the cure in your lab, before Supergirl barged in on us, I -- I started to recall bits and pieces. Then you somehow got both of us in that other dimension. Reign tried very hard to convince me to let go and embrace her. She pushed the memories on me. The crunch of bones in my hands, the nauseating metallic scent, the lifeless eyes still wide with fear. That -- that doesn't leave me."
"Oh." Lena's anger slowly fades into a confusing mire of bitterness and worry. "You didn't mention it."
"How could I?" Sam blinked away her own tears and gave Lena a pained smile. "I was panicking. I remember how you held me. How you reassured me that you would find a cure. You gave me hope that I wouldn't be just an alien weapon. So no, Lena, no matter what you've done, you can't be a villain. You saved me and the world, and I'm not going to let you forget it."
Lena looks down at their hands. She still hasn't pulled away from Sam's gentle touch. "Even if I'm plotting revenge? To make Kara hurt like she hurt me?"
"Even then."
"Revenge is for villains," Lena protests. Sam gives her a look that spells out how she definitely doesn't agree. Frustrated, Lena pushes forward. "Look, I've even dragged Andrea into my plot--"
"The one who viciously betrayed you?" Sam's eyebrows rose.
"The one and same. Gave her Catco." Lena couldn't hide her bitterness from her voice. "I bought it for Kara anyway. Might as well give it to someone who isn't qualified to lead it. Let it tank. Let Kara feel the pain of it. Then I'll unveil her true identity at her damn award ceremony, so the whole world can see her lies."
"Okay." Sam wraps an arm around Lena's shoulders. "So when is this ceremony?"
Lena blinks at Sam, surprised. "You're not going to talk me out of this?"
"I know you, Lena. And I know your heart. When the moment comes, you'll do the right thing. You always do." Sam smiles and the warmth of her arm melts some of the chill that had coated Lena's heart since her brother's death.
"So you're helping me." Lena isn't quite sure what to make of this development.
"I said I got your back, and I meant it."
That fractures Lena just enough that the tears escape. Sam draws her into a hug, and for the first time in weeks since her brother's death, Lena weeps.
***
The Pulitzer ceremony happens in the Art Museum downtown, their theatrical stage converted into a cocktail party. The dishes mostly variations of either French cuisine or potstickers. Thanks to Sam's assistance, Lena wove herself into the planning committee and convinced them to let her give the speech and the award to Kara herself.
Far too easy. At least for the planning portion. Andrea showed up several times to try to convince Lena to give away the surprise sooner, but Lena's firm handling of Andrea shut that down. She'd sent Andrea to Sam for an exclusive interview.
Sam, who would soon become the next CEO of the entirety of L-corp, while Lena stepped down into a pure research consultation position.
That had been Sam's idea, mostly to fix the hemorrhaging of funds issue, so Lena didn't end up investigated by the FBI. Last thing she needed right now, so instead, she'll use her private wealth and L-Corps science grants to fund her projects.
Today, she stands on the balcony, her fingers tapping through the evidence she'd found on the last of Lex's servers. The rest of his servers she'd hacked and deleted until all that was left was what she had stored in this particular tablet.
The rest of her plan involved a carefully written speech about honesty and truth, so when the news breaks, the juxaposition of her words against the truth of Kara's lies will surely destroy her like Kara's lie had destroyed Lena.
She'd practiced her speech in front of Sam and Ruby, though Ruby still had no idea why Lena was so bitter toward Kara. Sam didn't convince her to alter any parts of it, though she did ask one question that haunted Lena still:
"Is this your truth or a half-lie for Kara's sake?"
Lena had scoffed and said the latter, but Sam tilted her head as if not believing her. All her years of Luthor upbringing could not fool Sam, who somehow pierced through to her real feelings with just one look.
Now she overlooks the guests who mill about the extravagantly decorated room. The scent of savory food wafts up from below, the wine already heavy in her stomach. Kara keeps looking up at her from where she speaks with Alex and Kelly, and Lena does her best to ignore each glance.
Every time Kara looks away, Lena looks down at her and wonders. Was anything Kara shared real? Was it all an act? Those questions haunt her as much as Sam's, and she turns and walks into the backstage area.
To her dismay, Kara finds her there. Of all places for Kara to show up. Lena schools her features into delight for Kara as she speaks of how she plans to give the award speech.
Except Kara does the exact thing Lena assumed she'd never do.
She takes off her glasses. "I'm Supergirl!" Words tumble from Kara's mouth in an avalanche. "And I'm so, so sorry. I should have told you ages ago, but I loved being just Kara with you. And I was afraid to lose you, and I can't lose you. So I thought I could be just Kara with you, and I convinced myself I wouldn't lose you then.... but I've been a fool. So selfish. I've been lying to myself too. I thought I was protecting you, but I've been hurting you, haven't I? And I can't bear that. Gosh, Lena, I'm so sorry." Her tears smudging her makeup, and the repeated apology sear into Lena.
For once in her life, Lena has no idea what to say or think. Is this also an act?
"Please, Lena, say something," Kara begs.
And yet, Lena can't.
Kara apologized. Kara finally told her the truth.
What can she do with this? Surely it's not real. Just another ploy. Kara must know Lena knows. She must have slipped up somewhere, given away a clue.
And yet, the earnest grief in Kara's expression, the way she says "I just wanted to be Kara with you. Just Kara. I'm so sorry. I was wrong to lie to you all this time."
The way she begs Lena to speak, it all collides with Lena, and she feels breathless, on the verge of tears.
What does Kara even mean? To admit the wrongdoing? To admit she was being selfish?
Lex would never do such a thing. Lillian would scoff at the idea that she could be wrong.
So what does it mean for Kara to admit she was wrong? To admit she lied? To admit she had hung with Lena to play the role of human? The apology, the tears, the desperate longing in Kara's voice is unlike any apology Lena has ever heard.
She can't process it.
The host catches Lena's eye and taps his wrist. "It's almost time."
Lena takes the opportunity and steps around Kara. Her feet move for her, and she follows the host to the back of the stage, hidden by the red curtains. She hurriedly wipes the tears from her eyes, and touches up her make-up.
The truth in the tablet weighs heavy in her hands. She steps onto stage at her cue and places the tablet on the podium. The send button glares up at her, and her fingers hover over it.
The crowd lines up in rows in front of the stage. Kara stands next to Alex and Nia. Kelly, Brainy, and J'onn stand off to one side, and in the corner of the crowd, leaning against a pillar, Sam stands.
Kara's eyes are still red from her tears, her make-up fixed.
The speech rolls off Lena's tongue like sour candy. She's practiced it enough that the emotive moments come out as planned.
It's Sam's expression that cuts Lena far more than the rising hope in Kara's. Sam's expression burns with an intensity, as if she sees into Lena's soul, knows exactly her indecision.
Lena's finger hovers. One tap and the whole world will know the truth.
And yet her finger refuses to touch the screen.
Kelly glances between her and Kara, her brow furrowed. Does she know?
Alex knows definitely.
Does Brainy? He stands rigid slightly behind Nia, where the young reporter smiles up at Lena. Did they know?
J'onn has his arms crossed, and surely he knew.
Was any of her 'friends' real?
Beyond them, the crowd shifts and edges closer. Dozens of faces upturned to hear her speech, to hear her speak of the virtues of Kara, to listen to her extol on honesty and truth, and to lay that at Kara's feet.
As if Kara was truthful and honest. As if she truly deserved this award.
And yet, her heart betrays her. She drops her hand next to the tablet. Pauses to take a breath. This is it. She needs to do it now, but her hand doesn't hit send. Instead, she exits the program, picks up the award from its case, and steps out from behind the podium.
"And so I present to Kara, the Pulitzer Prize, for her truthful reporting of my brother's deadly actions, and for unveiling the reality of bigotry against alien communities." She stresses 'alien' and looks at Kara.
Kara, the one person who somehow broke through all her defenses, her stole away her heart faster than anyone prior. Even with Jack, the love had been a slow build, but with Kara? Lena had fallen for her in that first meeting in her office.
How could she not? Kara's warmth, how she'd admitted to understanding Lena's situation, an understanding Lena thought she'd never have beyond Jack and Sam.
Memories of their times together deluges Lena, and tears escape. She wants it all to be real so badly.
Kara steps forward, hope in her expression, and that tears Lena's heart even more.
With shaking hands she gives the award to Kara. In front of everyone, in front of the cameras, in front of the world watching this very moment, Kara grasps her arms instead.
"Lena," she says, her voice trembling, "Lena, thank you. I -- I couldn't do this without you. I can't do this without you."
The words leap from her lips, unplanned, unscripted. Her heart betraying her yet again. "You will always have me as a friend."
Kara sweeps her into a hug, presses a kiss to Lena's forehead, and she can't help but sink into the warmth.
She wants this to be real.
Oh god, she needs this to be real.
But the pain of the lie overshadows her, and she struggles against tears. Struggles to hold back her grief, her agony.
Her shattered heart cuts her to pieces, her body a betrayal, and yet she doesn't want to let go. Doesn't care who sees her. She wants this to be real.
She needs this to be real. She needs Kara.
And yet, Kara destroyed her. Destroyed her more than the gunshot to Lex's chest.
She pulls back, her body trembling, and she presses a kiss to Kara's cheek. Kara's sharp intake of breath slices deep, coils in Lena's belly. How can she resist Kara?
Why can't this be real?
The universe takes pity on her. An alien bursts into the room through a bubbling silver-blue portal. Energy arcs toward them, and Kara shifts them so it hits her back. They tumble in a heap to the ground, the wind knocked out of Lena's lungs. Her tablet goes skidding into the curtains. She gasps as pain briefly shoots up her back.
Kara sweeps Lena to her feet, and pushes her into the curtains. They stumble out of sight.
Kara rips off her glasses. Nanites ripples over clothes, and the supersuit -- pants edition -- blooms over her body. "I got this. Please, get to safety, Lena."
Alex and J'onn calmly give orders, while Kara -- as Supergirl -- bursts out from the curtains to tackle the other alien.
Lena snags her tablet and stumbles through the backstage, dazed. Her head spins from where she'd hit the floorboards. Her path takes her away from the clamor of fighting, and she tumbles into a side gallery. There a growing crowd, guided by Alex and several security guards, stream toward an exit sign.
Kelly reaches her side before Sam. "Are you all right?" Kelly looks her over with the practiced eye of a medic.
Lena nods, but when Sam wraps an arm around her as if sensing her unsteadiness. She lets herself lean against Sam. Lets her and Kelly guide her to safety. Behind her, the crashes shake the floor under them. The walls crack.
Alex orders the guards to continue evacuating, pauses only to kiss Kelly's cheek, and rushes into the other room.
This isn't real.
Whatever she has with Kara, it can't be real.
Kelly turns to her, and her question cuts through Lena's shock. "Where's Kara?"
Lena stares at Kelly.
"Wasn't she with you?" Kelly scans the crowd, worried.
Kelly doesn't know. The truth takes the breath from Lena's lungs. Kelly doesn't know.
Lena isn't the last after all.
Sam puts a hand on Kelly's shoulder. "I'm sure Alex reached her."
Kelly shook her head. "How? She was guiding the others out."
Lena watches herself say, "Kara is safe. She ducked backstage." A lie that protects Kara and only leaves Kelly further in the dark.
"I'll send security her way then. She needs to get out safely." Kelly turns and snags a guard.
Lena watches Kelly say, "Can you look for Kara Danvers? Last seen backstage." Watches and says nothing.
Sam's hand grips her shoulder. "You kept her secret," she whispered.
Sam doesn't know what Lena did with the tablet. Lena looks down at the tablet still in her hand. She could still do it. Andrea waits for her transfer at Catco.
Instead, she slams the tablet against the wall. It cracks the screen. Again and again she shatters it. The pieces tumble to the ground, only stopping when Sam grasps her hand and pulls the wrecked tablet from her grip.
Numerous people have turned to stare at her, but a guard breaks the sudden stillness with a sharp command, "Move now!"
Another boom shakes the side room, and the panicked whispering, the urgent rush begins again.
Sam takes her arm and leads her to the exit.
Kelly follows, and they tumble out of the museum into daylight. The chorus of the city saturates Lena's senses, and the words from Sam and Kelly are drowned in the rumble of engines, calls of birds, panicked cries from the crowd, the yelling of fervent guards.
Lena sees only the look of hope in Kara's eyes. She closes her eyes, sways, and the moment overtakes her. She faints.
***
Sam and Kelly sit on the lip of the ambulance, while Lena endures the examination of a paramedic. She says nothing, doesn't explain her faint, only deals with the tests.
The IV fluids chill her veins, but she doesn't refuse like normal.
Why did she lie to Kelly? Why did she keep Kara's secret?
Andrea will be livid. She has nothing to give Andrea now. The only evidence lay on the destroyed tablet.
Why? She has no answer to her own question.
Someone speaks to her, but the words dance around her. It takes several long minutes before the words collapse into meaning in her brain.
"-- possible shock." The paramedic speaks.
"I know." Sam sounds tired and worried. "But she's very much against hospitals. I can take her to her private doctor for those tests."
"I'm a certified medic," Kelly adds. "I can handle it if she won't go in." She gently puts a hand on Lena's shoulder. "Unless you are all right with --"
"No." The word comes with great difficulty. "I do not need the hospital." She feels as if she watches someone else speak with her lips.
Sam takes control and tucks her into her car.
Kelly rides with them, and they head to Lena's private doctor. Despite her worry for Alex, Kelly stays with Lena. Speaks to her gently. Offers kind words of support. Briefly texts Alex, but Lena sees the text and it contains nothing about Lena's situation.
"Thank you." Lena shivers and wraps the blanket tighter around herself. It's white, the fabric scratchy, but its from the ambulance so she doesn't expect any better. "I --" Lena can't finish the sentence.
She feels caught in a loop.
Why couldn't she do it?
The plan had been flawless. Perfect.
And yet, here she was, keeping Kara's secret. She was now an accomplice, and this time it was Kelly she kept in the dark. Unless Kelly too was an actress. No, she can't let that continue, can she? Can she truly do this to another?
Wouldn't keeping the lie only hurt Kelly like it hurts Lena now? No, she can't do that to Kelly.
She waits until the blood tests are taken, until after her doctor looks her over and orders to take a few days of rest, until Kelly and Sam lead her into her penthouse.
As soon as the door shuts, she turns to Kelly and asks the fateful question. "Did you know Kara is Supergirl?"
Kelly blinks and stares at Lena. "What?"
"Did you know too? Did everyone now but me?" She wants to be angry. To draw forth the pain into a blade of fury, but her words come out broken.
She wanted Kara to bleed and yet she'd failed.
Kelly shakes her head. "Are we talking about Kara Danvers? Her?"
Sam sighs. "I'm making us tea. Rest means laying down, Lena." She points to the sofa.
Lena frowns but dutifully sits down.
Kelly stands in the entryway still. "Alex never said," she says, finally.
"Kara only told me today," Lena admits. For that is the truth. "Right before my speech."
"I see." Kelly meets Lena's gaze. "I had no idea. I'm sorry, Lena. Are you all right? To learn something that jarring about your girlfriend? I -- I know how painful that can be."
Girlfriend? Lena stares at Kelly. Girlfriend?
Kelly thinks Kara and her are dating?
Lena's thoughts screech to a halt. "No," she says and lays down. She rests her arm over her eyes, and shuts out everyone. Whatever Kelly or Sam say, she ignores. She refuses food, refuses everything, and curls up under the shitty blanket.
***
Two days huddled on the sofa, and Lena feels like a truck has driven over her back again and again. Her sofa is perhaps the worst thing in the universe for sleeping, but Lena hadn't felt like getting up.
Sam stayed. Ruby joins them, and between the two of them, they coax Lena into eating and drinking some juice.
Sadly, no scotch. Sam hid it.
At one point, Kara shows up, but Sam turns her away. Alex comes by next, and Sam turns her away too.
"Aunt Lena," Ruby sits next to her as they watch a documentary on the wall television. "Are you feeling sick still?"
Lena looks at the thirteen year old. Is that what Sam told Ruby? In a sense, she feels like death warmed over, even if it's not a physical illness. The anger that had fueled her plan had collapsed into a malaise so deep that Lena wishes she could just cease existing.
"Yes." It's the most she's spoken in two days.
"We can make your favorite soup again. I've gotten better at it. Mom's been teaching me." Ruby attempts a smile. "And I made you something. Maybe it'll help you feel better?" Ruby digs into her backpack, that sits at her feet, and pulls out a framed drawing.
Lena takes it and tears overwhelm her.
It's a drawing of Sam, Ruby, and herself in the L-Corp office. The colors are vibrant, the expressions emotive, and it's beautiful. The last time someone had given her art was Kara.
"What do you think?" Ruby's words hold uncertainty.
Lena grasps Ruby's hand. "It's beautiful," she says, softly. "Thank you." The pre-teen grins, and the pain, for a little while, recedes. She lets Ruby pull her up, plays along with finding a home for the drawing, and together they hand it above the mock fireplace. The same place where her photo her herself and Kara had sat.
She doesn't deserve this kindness.
That evening, Sam convinces her to finally go to bed. "Your back will thank you."
Lena gifts her a faint smile. "Fine."
"And I'll handle L-Corp. Don't worry about a thing, okay?" Sam shakes a finger at her. "You need to rest. Doctor's orders you know."
Normally she'd scoff and dismiss it. Normally, she'd buckle up and go in anyway. Normally, she'd push aside her emotions and work herself to the bone.
But the malaise has sunk its fingers deep. Lena only nods, and slips under the covers to hide once more. For the rest of that day, she reviews events. Reviews emotions. Reviews what she can recall.
What is real?
Can she ever trust Kara again?
She loves her still, and it hurts so much. Hurts more than even her brother's death.
She's stained, her heart fractured, and she doesn't know what to do next.
If only she could cut the pain out of herself, to stop the dishonesty so no one else will suffer.
For the first time in days, she leaves her room and takes out her laptop. She types up a tentative plan, works out a simulation, and sends it to Hope, her AI.
Sam finds her deep in coding at the dining table. It's late, the sun long set, and shadows etch across her walls. The television hums with a game as Ruby plays in the other room.
The soup Sam sets down smells delicious, but Lena only glances at it.
"What are you working on?" Sam pulls up a chair.
"What if I could code a way to end suffering?" Lena asks. Her fingers dance across the keys as she looks over Hope's simulation data. It didn't go as she hoped, so she's altering the algorithms. "To make it so no one lies, no one hurts another."
"A code to end suffering," Sam repeats. "Lena, are you suggesting mind control?"
"As if." Lena frowns and glances at Sam. "People can still do what they want. This would just prevent them from hurting anyone."
"That's still mind control."
Frustrated, Lena slaps her laptop shut. "Then what do suggest I should do to end suffering?"
"I think you're asking the wrong question," Sam says gently.
"Oh?" Lena crosses her arms and glares at Sam. "And what should I be asking?"
"I don't know." Sam stirs the soup and pushes it toward Lena. "You should eat. Ruby says you haven't touched any food today."
"I'm fine, Sam."
"Are you? It's okay to not be okay, Lena. You don't have to be strong for this. That's why we're here. You can lean on us. You can be honest with us. We're not going anywhere."
Sam's earnest words sear into her, and Lena looks away, unable to bear the sincerity, the kindness.
"I'm a murderer, Sam," Lena murmurs. "And I'm running simulations that you claim is mind control. I think we should be honest. I'm a villain after all."
"No, you're hurting, and you being, well, you, you're trying to science your way out of the pain. But that's not how it works." Sam gently pushes a lock of hair from Lena's face. "How about this. Let's brainstorm new projects. The more ridiculous the higher the score. I bet I can beat you." She smiles. "I'll even wager money on this."
Lena stares at Sam. "Wagering money that you can beat me on generating ideas? Sam, you'll lose. I'm the queen of ideas."
"Oh? Then prove it." Sam stands and snags several pads of paper. She shoves one at Lena with a violet pen. "Get generating, Lena. Because you're about to be out..." Sam pauses then grins, "... out a hundred dollars."
"Two hundred that I'll leave you in the dust," Lena snaps, unable to resist the competition. She's the one with the two degrees, while Sam only had an accounting degree. How dare Sam claim she can generate better ideas than Lena herself.
"Two hundred and fifty I'll beat you in volume."
Lena growls and furiously starts to write. For the next four hours, she and Sam pit their wits against each other. Papers get taped to the wall, doors, and windows. Ruby cheers them on and makes popcorn as Sam and her shout more and more unhinged ideas.
When Lena suggests nanite-made clothes that instantly clean when dirtied, Sam shoots back an idea of nanite cloth competitions for the most dazzling display of fashion prowess.
Lena tacks to the wall an idea to build a massive portal to send ships to Mars or the moon for colonies and lessen the stress of overpopulation on the ecological systems of Earth.
Sam ups her with portals to other solar systems and documentaries to showcase the work of the mechanics and scientists.
Lena throws the suggestion of science competitions amongst other planets, and the winner gets a grant to build whatever they desire.
Sam suggests competitions to build the biggest train in the solar system, one so big that it fits the moon inside.
Lena counters with an engine that could power such a massive train.
Sam slaps onto the wall her idea of a massive party on such a train, to bring the wonders of pop and rock music to the corners of the galaxy.
By this point, Lena is laughing and tempted to tape her Sam's mouth shut. They've reached an impasse, for each idea Lena generates, Sam twists it to something silly, and even Ruby struggles to decide who wins the round.
"Fine!" Lena throws the last of her pad into the air. "We're tied."
"Are we?" Sam turns to her daughter. "Ruby, as our judge, what is your assessment?"
Ruby spends several minutes tapping her lip as if deep in thought. "I declare...." She pauses for dramatic effect, "A tie. Both your list of ideas are fantastic, and I kind of hope you do some of them Aunt Lena."
Lena looks at the mess that is now her penthouse, how so many unhinged schematics adorn the walls, the lines of ideas that overlap each other, and it's so against her Luthor upbringing that she laughs. Laughs and laughs at the absurdity of her situation.
She decides to keep the ideas where they are.
To remind herself that even in moments of great pain, nuggets of joy can still be found.
Though she will not be building a massive space train big enough for moons, just for all the celebrity popstars to host concerts for other solar systems. No matter how much Ruby and Sam beg.
She has some pride, thank you very much.

Lonely is the Muse
Supergirl. Lena Luthor x Reader!, Kara Danvers
Word Count: 2850.
The first explosion cracks like thunder, shaking the floor under your feet. Papers scatter from Lena’s desk, and the glass windows of her office tremble as the distant blast rumbles through the building. For a moment, everything stands still, as if the world itself is holding its breath.
Then—chaos.
Alarms blasting, red lights flashing, an omniscient voice saying that security has been breached and reminding you to find cover immediately. You don't move. Feet fasten in place, heart on your throat while you look at Lena with clear panic in your eyes. She doesn't see it. Lena is already busy, fingers flying across her tablet, tapping into security feeds, running checks on the building’s defenses. Her face remains steady, focused, as if this really is just another day at the office.
You wish you felt that way, but fear is crawling up your spine, and you can’t shake the feeling you’re somewhere you shouldn’t be.
“Lena?” Your voice comes out shakier than you'd like, unable to mask the panic. Another explosion—closer this time—makes you flinch, reaching for the edge of her desk. “Lena, shouldn't we get Supergirl here, now?”
Lena doesn’t look up, hands still moving briskly across the screen. “It's okay, darling,” she says, almost too calm, voice completely steady. She glances at you, giving you a small, reassuring smile that hardly settles your heart. “The safest place for you to be is right here with me. Alright?”
“You’re sure?” Because while Lena is brilliant, resourceful—she’s not invulnerable. She’s not Supergirl.
Lena finally puts the tablet down and steps closer to you, her gaze softening as she places a hand on your arm. “I can protect you. We don’t need Supergirl.” Her thumb brushes over your skin in a soft, grounding gesture. Despite everything—despite the gunfire echoing through the floors under—you almost believe her.
Almost.
“We need to go.” Her voice shifts to something decisive, and she checks the hallway. Before you know it, she’s pulling you by the hand, her grip firm as you leave the relative safety of her office behind.
You run, your heartbeat pounding in your ears, shallow breaths barely doing its job to send air to your brain, and you are definitely struggling to keep the pace while Lena leads you through L Corp’s winding hallways. With each step, the sounds of the intruders grow closer—gunshots, shattering glass, and the chilling echo of shouted orders. The building feels like a trap, the walls closing in around you.
Your breaths come short and sharp as you round another corner, nearly losing your balance. “Lena,” you gasp, stopping for a minute to lean on a wall, “where are we even going?”
Because right now, it feels like you're running blind, escaping nothing and heading nowhere.
“To safety,” she replies over her shoulder, her eyes sharp and assessing, always two steps ahead. “There’s a secure wing. We’ll be safe there.”
You want to trust her—you do—but every gunshot and step sound tightens a coil of fear around your chest.
You hear a crash just behind you, and you are terrified to look and discover what really happened, but you can't help but turn. You watch as the glass wall collapses, chunks of shards crashing down, missing you by mere feet. You grip Lena’s hand tighter as you stumble forward.
Lena’s posture has shifted; you can see her mind racing, scanning the hall for any route out. But every hallway seems to lead to another dead end, every door either locked or blocked. Right now you can't even remember what brought you to L Corp this morning.
A sharp sound—footsteps, fast and coming closer—sends a fresh wave of fear through you. There’s nowhere left to go.
Lena spots a small door just ahead and yanks you toward it without hesitation. It’s a supply closet, hidden in the corner of the hall.
The space is cramped, barely enough for you both to stand. The shelves stacked high with supplies, leaving only a narrow strip of floor. You press yourself against the wall, breaths shallow as you strain to hear the sounds outside.
You are hyper aware of every point of contact between you and Lena. Her arm brushing against yours, her breath warm against your neck and the fingers ghosting over your hips, like a promise.
You’ve always been close to Lena, close enough to have feelings you shouldn’t, feelings you’ve buried deep. But here, with danger looming just outside, everything feels too immediate, too raw. There’s no space to hide—not physically, not emotionally.
You've always wanted her, but now it's almost desperate.
"Is now a bad time to tell you I’m claustrophobic?" The words escape your lips before you can stop them, a poor attempt at humor to break the tension.
Lena glances at you, her lips quirking into a small, tight smile. "Shhh." She shifts, pulling you closer, her arm wrapping around your waist in a protective gesture. "I’m here. You’re safe."
But are you?
Your heart races for an entirely different reason now. Her body pressed against yours, her warmth, her scent — it’s too much, and your mind spins with thoughts you’ve kept locked away for so long.
You know you shouldn’t look at her. Not like this and definitely not now. But when you do, when you let your eyes slide to her face, it’s like a punch to the gut.
Lena’s watching you, her gaze soft but intense, her lips slightly parted as if she’s trying to figure out what to say, or maybe what not to say. Her eyes flicker down to your lips, just for a second, before she catches herself and looks away, but it’s enough to make your pulse quicken.
"Your eyes are really pretty up close," you murmur, the words slipping out before you can stop them. Lena turns her head toward you, her brow furrowed in confusion, but you don’t stop. "I never noticed the splash of blue in one of them."
For a second, there’s only silence between you. You can feel her gaze on you, searching, questioning, her pupils blown wide. The air feels even heavier now, thick with unspoken words and lingering tension.
She doesn't speak, doesn't say a word. You said more than you should've, you're sure. Wrong time, wrong confession, wrong everything. You've always known you were the wrong person for her. The vulnerability and fear of dying must have messed with your head.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.” You whisper under your breath.
"No, it’s just — I don't think anyone else has noticed either."
Not even Kara? Is what you want to ask but you stop yourself before it gets out of your mouth. You hear movement on the other side of the door. Steps and whispered words,
"She couldn't have gone far. Find her!"
You swallow deep, then turn to Lena again. For the first time you can tell she is also scared, you think that maybe that façade was just to make you feel better.
You're not thinking straight. Clearly. If you were, you wouldn't be reaching for her face nor stroking her cheek carefully and lovingly. You don't say a word, can't speak because they might hear you, but you can see Lena looks less distressed when her eyes soften and she pushes a little smile out.
And oh whoa, you wanna kiss her. You wanna kiss her so badly — you can’t even remember why you’re stuck in this closet with her in the first place.
It might be because you're clearly staring at her lips, but Lena mouths the words, "it's alright."
And you're not sure what she's trying to tell you. Is it alright for you to kiss her? Is she trying to comfort you because of the whole situation? What does she even mean by those simple words that got your head spinning so hard?
Your pulse quickens, the soft curve of her lips drawing you in like a gravitational pull you’re helpless to resist. Lena’s whisper hangs in the air—it’s alright.
Your hand lingers against her cheek, thumb trembling as it grazes the soft skin below her eye. You shouldn’t be touching her like this—especially not now, not when every breath feels stolen, too loud in the cramped space. But the look in her eyes, that subtle catch in her breath, it blurs the lines between what's allowed to happen between two friends. Maybe—just maybe—this is not a mistake.
Are you really going to kiss her right now?
Lena tilts her head ever so slightly, leaning into your touch. Her eyes flicker down to your lips again, and it’s all the confirmation you need. You’re not sure how else to make sense of the heat thrumming between you.
Lena's breath catches, her lips parting just enough to draw you closer. The space around you feels like it's shrinking, inch by agonizing inch. And then—just as you're about to close the distance—
Crash.
The door slams open, and in a blur of motion, the intruders are thrown back, weapons flying from their hands. A gust of wind rushes in front of you, sending people flying through the air.
Supergirl.
Kara stands in the doorway, cape flowing as she takes in the scene, you and Lena so close — so close you're almost one. Relief floods Lena’s features, her entire body unwinding in a way that makes it clear—this is what she’s been waiting for. Her.
"Y/N! Lena!" Kara’s voice is breathless, filled with concern. In two quick steps, she’s at Lena’s side, pulling her into a tight embrace.
You blink, frozen, hand still hovering in the air where Lena’s cheek had been just moments before. You watch as Lena leans into Kara’s arms, her body relaxing in a way you haven’t seen all night. The gratitude in her eyes is unmistakable, her face lighting up in a way that stops your heart cold.
The way Lena melts into Kara’s arms—it’s like watching someone take a breath after holding it too long. Her relief is palpable, and it leaves you standing there, frozen in place.
It’s different. She’s different with Kara.
You step back, your arm falling to your side, the weight of the realization settling in. That almost-kiss—it wasn’t what you thought. It wasn’t born of love or longing. It was fear. Fear of dying, fear of losing everything, fear of the moment slipping away. And now, with Supergirl here, that moment has passed.
"Next time, call me immediately." Kara complains and Lena brushes her off,
"I could've handled it."
"Yeah, I just found you two hiding in a closet. I don't know how much of that you were handling. Except, you know," Kara raises her eyebrows insinuating something.
"No, you're right." Lena is quick to say, not even glancing back at you. "We were just hiding in a closet."
Something tightens in your chest, a dull ache spreading as you take another tiny step back. Oh shit, did you really ruin your friendship with Lena for one almost-kiss that quite possibly meant nothing to her?
Kara turns to you, her gaze warm and steady, a gentle hand squeezing your shoulder. You swallow hard, a weak smile tugging at your lips but never quite reaching your eyes. "Hey, you alright?" she murmurs, her voice soothing as ever. The worry in her eyes softens as she leans a bit closer, searching your face. "You guys are safe now, alright? I've got you."
"Yeah," you lie, your voice thin. "I’m fine."
But you’re not fine. Not really.
You look at Lena one more time, watching the way her face softens as she gazes up at Kara, and you realize something you’ve been avoiding for a long time: no matter what you feel, no matter how much you love her, you’re not the one who makes her feel safe. You’re not the one who makes her heart race.
It's Kara.
And it always will be.
It’s been days since what happened in the closet, and you haven’t been able to stop thinking about it—the way her breath mingled with yours, how close you came to kissing her, and how quickly everything changed the second Supergirl arrived. You’ve convinced yourself it was all in your head, that whatever almost happened was just panic, adrenaline, impulse. Lena loves Kara. She’s always loved Kara.
That’s why it makes no sense when you hear a knock at your door late in the evening and Lena is standing on the other side.
“Can we talk?” she asks, voice soft, almost tentative.
You hesitate for a beat but step aside to let her in. The air between you is thick with everything left unsaid, but neither of you seems willing to break the silence. Lena stands in the middle of your living room, looking around like she’s searching for a way to start, and you’re suddenly hyper-aware of how quiet everything is—too quiet.
She takes a breath, breaking the stillness. “I’ve been thinking a lot about... what happened the other day.”
Your heart thuds in your chest. Oh no. She’s going to bring it up. The almost-kiss. And then tell you it was all a mistake, just heat of the moment. Your mind spins while you try to think of an apology.
“I’m really sorry,” you blurt out, forcing the words out before she can continue. “I shouldn’t have—”
But she cuts you off with a shake of her head. “No, don’t apologize.”
You freeze, blinking at her. “What?”
Lena’s eyes meet yours, her gaze sharp and yet vulnerable. She hesitates, searching for the right words. “You shouldn’t apologize. Because I... I haven't stopped thinking about it.”
You stare at her, your mind racing. What is she saying? You can’t quite let yourself hope, but the way she’s looking at you—soft, open, raw—makes your chest ache in a way you weren’t prepared for.
“I was scared,” Lena admits, her voice dropping to a low, fragile tone you haven't heard from her yet. “I was putting on a brave face for you, but the truth is I was terrified of the situation, of people hurting you because of me, I—” She pauses, swallowing. “I should've gotten Supergirl there the second we heard the first explosion, but I wanted you to feel safe with me.”
"You wanted what?"
"I wanted to be the one to save you. I wanted to be the one you’d trust to keep you safe."
You take a step closer without thinking, "But why?"
"I—" Lena tries, but breaks eye contact like it's suddenly too much. "I wanted to be the one you look starry-eyed at."
You furrow your brows. "I've always looked at you starry-eyed. You just didn't notice because you were too busy looking at Kara like that."
"What? No. No. I — I love Kara. She’s... my best friend. I’ll always be grateful to her. But that’s all it is." Her gaze finds yours again, more open than you've ever seen. Lena takes a deep breath, her voice faltering as if she's standing on the edge of something too fragile to name. "I'm definitely not in love with her." She makes sure.
Your heart skips, but you force yourself to stay calm, to not rush into assumptions. “But then why didn’t you—”
Lena lets out a breath, her shoulders sagging under the weight of her own uncertainty. “I... I thought maybe I misread everything, that maybe you were just trying to soothe me. And then Kara showed up, and everything..."
“I wasn’t,” you interrupt, your voice quiet but steady. “I wasn’t just reacting to fear. Lena, I’ve loved you for a long time.”
The admission hangs in the air between you, and for a second, you think maybe you’ve pushed too far, that maybe you’ve said too much. But Lena’s gaze softens, and you see something break in her—a wall you didn’t even realize she’d been holding up.
Lena cuts the distance, and you're so close again you feel transported back to the supply closet at L Corp just like that. Bodies touching, shared breaths, and stolen moments.
"I love you, Y/N. It's always been you."
And as if drawn by a force too powerful to resist, Lena leans in, her lips brushing against yours in the softest, most tentative kiss. It’s gentle, almost cautious, as though she’s still afraid this might be a dream, that you might pull away.
But you don’t. You could never pull away from the thing you've wanted the most. Instead, you lean into her, your heart pounding as you kiss her back, slow and tender, pouring everything you’ve ever felt for her into that one moment.
When you finally pull apart, you’re both breathless. Lena rests her forehead against yours, her eyes closed, as if savoring the quiet intimacy of it all.
"I’ve wanted this for so long," you admit, your voice barely more than a whisper. "Sorry I didn't follow through that day."
Lena gives you a soft, genuine smile that makes your heart swell. "You don't need to apologize, you can just make up for it now."

Omg someone please write this! I can imagine Kara suddenly slapping at her leg like "Ow! What WAS THAT?!" And start scratching her leg like crazy with Lena looking at her confused like "looks like it was a mosquito. Don't scratch so hard you'll make it worse" and Kara just loses her shit and later Lena makes a passing comment to Alex like "The way she was scratching/acting you'd think she'd never been bitten by a mosquito before." And Alex making this "I'm gonna fucking kill her if she outs her secret identity over a fucking bug bite" face while trying to laugh it off. "Yep that's my sister. D R A M A, always something with her :awkward throat clear and subject change: anyway, working on any new projects?"
personally the funniest thing for a de-powered kryptonians fic is them absolutely raging at bug bites, because impenetrable skin means they’ve never had them before
and yes clark/jons powers didn’t kick in for a few years but it’s been awhile, you telling me they haven’t forgotten what it’s like?
just give me supers having to deal with more mundane things while they’re de-powered and i can die happy
#kara danvers has no chill#but Alex it really really itches#first thing im doing when i get my powers back is eradicating mosquitos#kara you adorable oblivious puppy of light#lena luthor

“I’m telling you Lena, there’s no good Luthor. All of them are shady.” Kara said and downed a shot of tequila while Lena cringed internally.
“Maybe one of them will surprise you.”
“Impossible.” Kara chuckled, grabbing a handful of peanuts and popping them into her mouth. “Where there’s smoke there’s a Luthor.”
“I’m sure there’s something good in one of them.”
“No, I don’t think so. There’s what, three of them left? A mother whose foundation has been under investigation for allegedly mishandling funds, a son under investigation for his links to the mob and controversial political speech, and a third one no one knows anything about… probably in jail for all we know.” She chuckled.
“Or maybe doing work on their own, away from the nefarious family stuff.”
“No, Lena… I’m telling you. That family’s rotten.”
“Don’t be so rude, Kara.” Alex chuckled, handing her another shot of tequila. “We don’t know if this other Luthor is actually a good person… say for a moment Lena’s right, what if we don’t know anything about this person because they’re doing good and don’t want to be associated with the family scandals?”
“I guess it’s a possibility.” Kara finally conceded, clinking her glass to Lena and downing the shot. “I just don’t like it that there’s so much noise about them investing in the hospital… yay for them to do something good, but at what cost?”
“Maybe it’s a good thing.” Alex shrugged.
“Maybe they’re just trying to save face.”
“Whatever the reason, lots of people will benefit from it.” Lena interrupted her. “The hospital got more money, we can certainly use it for good.”
“That’s true. I hope we get some help to renew the facilities and that sweet new machine for-”
“Hell no, Alex. We need more nurses! We’re swamped and busy! You get your machine when we stop having to work overtime to help with the workload.” Kara scoffed. “You fancy doctors always forget about us.”
“Impossible to forget about you… you whine too much.” Alex smirked playfully, making Lena laugh at the offended look on Kara’s face.
“Oh you don’t laugh, Dr Kieran!” She said in a mocking voice.
“Sorry nurse Danvers.”
“What would your surgeries be without us? What would your patients do without us?”
“Kara, chill! We’re not the union people, okay?” Alex laughed. “We know nurses see important, but improving the technology we have at hand to help people makes a difference too.”
“I know, but don’t play all high and mighty when- is it the hospital?” She asked when she saw Lena checking her phone and frowning.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” Lena said simply to Kara and grabbed her bag before making her way out of the small bar near the hospital where they usually met after work.
“I know you said you’d wait to tell her, but-”
“I can’t just tell her I love her, Alex.”
“You can, and in fact you should do just that.”
“She’s just not into me like that.” She pouted. “She’s perfect and so amazing.” She groaned, looking down at her hands. “Why would a prestigious surgeon like her be interested in someone like me?”
“Because you’re great and Lena isn’t some superficial asshole who looks down on you because you’re a nurse.” She rolled her eyes. “Kara, if I’m insisting on you telling her it’s because I see you two together… the way she looks at you? That’s not friendship.” She chuckled. “You know which friend looks at me like that? My girlfriend.”
“You’re so funny.”
“I mean it, Kara. Just… tell her how you feel.”
“What if she doesn’t feel the same?”
“What if she does?” She groaned, knowing the road the conversation would take if she didn’t stop Kara’s train of thought. “She’s Lena when she’s with you, and she looks at you with more than professional respect and friendship. I have my own two eyes and I see it, Kara. You have to tell her.”
“I have to find the perfect moment.”
“You guys are going to the theater tomorrow… that screams date. Tell her when you walk her home.”
“How do you know I’ll walk her home?”
“You always do. It’s your way of making sure she’s safely home.” She rolled her eyes. “Tell her… you might get lucky with a goodnight kiss, or maybe some more.” She smirked and Kara groaned and nodded for another shot to be poured for her.

lmao i would not be surprised if sideguitars already asked for this but if she has, i need you to write a second one pls
tit for tit or however the saying goes
🖤 kissing while crying / goodbye kiss / desperation
ok. ok, so like. like, you technically asked for this. just saying.
- - - -
It hadn’t seemed desperate at the time. There hadn’t been tears. It hadn’t felt like a goodbye. For that, Lena blamed herself. There hadn’t been any legitimate threat to National City in over a year, and she’d become complacent; they all had: J’onn was off-planet, Alex was with Esme and Kelly in Midvale, Nia and Brainy were mid-flight to their honeymoon. All who was left? Kara. Supergirl.
And Supergirl was always going to save the day.
“How can I help?” Lena had asked from their balcony overlooking the skyline. Three explosions blocks apart rocked the city, sending plumes of dark smoke into the air. Their Saturday afternoon picnic plans were about to take a rain check.
“Just get to the Tower and comms in from there,” Kara replied, her suit already on and attention wholly on the flames licking up the walls of glass.
“Are you sure? I can come and-”
“There are too many sites; I need you to help me prioritize.”
“Ok,” Lena nodded.
Kara aimed her shoulders to take flight.
“Be careful, darling,” Lena called. She looked on toward the chaos.
Only then did Kara glance back and catch the look of worry that always clouded Lena’s features. She closed the gap and, with two gentle hands, cupped Lena’s cheeks and pressed a reassuring kiss to her lips.
“I always am,” Kara winked, and then she was off, and then she was gone.
------
It was raining.
Of course it was.
A cleansing. A nourishing. A load of bullshit.
The ground sank under her shoe; a poor choice in a downpour. Kara would have made a joke about that. Kara would have done a lot of things; should have done a lot of things.
Still, mud soaked and struggling with her footing, Lena trekked ahead toward the loitering of black umbrellas and somber expressions of people who knew Supergirl as Kara Danvers; people who didn’t know Kara Danvers at all.
A voice droned. It rang of a hollow religion that Kara Zor El didn’t practice, but appearances were needed. For what, Lena didn’t know. It didn’t matter anymore.
Eliza offered her a wet smile from her tear-stained face and Lena looked on. There had always been a small, selfish part of her that she'd always found comfort in knowing she'd be the first to go.
"I’m sorry about your wife,” some faceless colleague offered. “How unfortunate that she was in the building, too."
Lena looked on. She looked on and clenched her jaw at the ignorance.
She ignored the pleading looks from Nia and Alex; the soft glances of understanding from Kelly; the hiccups from Esme. She ignored them until there was nothing left to ignore but the sound of rain battering against rayon overhead. She ignored that by dropping the umbrella to the ground where the wind pulled it adrift. Droplets pelted and winds chilled.
Lena looked on.
The skyline was changed. A lot was changed.
Now, instead of working at L-Corp, she commuted to a wreckage site.
Now, instead of a warm embrace, she knew only of the cold surfaces of a lonely penthouse.
Now instead of the handsome smile meant only for her, she stared down at a granite slab chiseled with lies.
“Why wouldn't you let me come with you?” she whispered into the wind.
And Lena wasn't sure if she meant the battle or wherever Kara was now.
#damnit samnit you could have picked a light-hearted and friendly ask but noooo. you had to tap this vat.#this is not tender angst#sssammich#qs with quinn#thanks for the ask!#ask game

Hi I’m looking for a supercorp fic on ao3 where Kara goes to stay at Eliza’s I think she is like house sitting/taking time off. It’s a really chill fic with almost cottage core vibes where she tends to the garden and makes lots of homemade potstickers and Lena comes to visit her. I read it years ago and haven’t been able to find it since
Fandom: Supergirl
Pairing: Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor
Please, help us find this fic! Leave your suggestions in the comments. Thank you! 🙏😊🦸♀️

Sweet Love-Chapter 7
Fandom: Supergirl
Relationships: Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor, Alex Danvers/Kelly Olsen
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Alexa Luthor-Danvers (OC), Liza Luthor-Danvers (OC), Jess, Lillian Luthor, Alex Danvers, Kelly Olsen, Krypto, Mable Longhorn (OC)
Summary: Lena is stressed about family and work decisions that need to be made. Kara believes that a family vacation to the Danvers' family ranch will get her mind off of things. However, the more they find out about the history of the place, the more they realize that the place holds quite a few hidden secrets.
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6
As Lena walked through the horse stalls some more, she zoned in on a particular horse. It was chestnut colored with blonde hair. It had white small splotches on its left side that looked like raindrops. Lena’s eyes grew wide when she realized that she had seen these before.
She turned around and asked, “Hey Kara, can you come here?”
She quickly came over to her and kissed her on the cheek.
“Is everything okay?”
Lena pointed at the horse startled.
“Doesn’t this look like Rain to you?”
Kara looked at the horse more closely and started smiling really brightly.
“This is her!”
Lena reached out to pet her and the horse’s nose met her hand and nuzzled it.
“How is this possible?”
“The horses were the only original animals that I was able to get back.”
Lena nearly jumped in her own skin. She turned around to see her mom standing right next to her.
“A little bit of a warning next time,” muttered Lena as she tried to control back her breathing.
“So quickly forgot that you guys weren’t the only ones in here?” smirked Lillian.
“You know that isn’t it,” pouted Lena.
Lena looked back over to Rain whose nose was trying to nuzzle her hair. Normally, Lena would be irritated, but she smiled and petted Rain instead. She turned back and gave her mom a quizzical look.
“How were you able to get the horses back?”
“The new owners wanted to make use of the riding trails and offer it as a service to the new homeowners in the area.”
Kara shook her head while patting Rain.
“They were really trying to milk everything for what it’s worth,” muttered Kara.
“Would it make you feel better that the horses were well taken care of while away from the ranch?”
“Yes,” said Kara rolling her eyes.
“Well good. I originally came over to tell you that everyone has picked out a horse and is ready to go.”
Lena looked back and did indeed see the girls, Alex, and Kelly all saddled and waiting on their horses. She looked back sheepishly at her mother.
“We’ll hurry up!.”
Kara went off to quickly find a horse. Lena let Rain out of his stall. As she saddled up, she began to think about the first time she went horse riding with Kara on the ranch.
Lena had a lovely night with Mable and Kara. She especially loved that Mable told very embarrassing stories about Kara from childhood. She had never seen Kara’s face get so bright red before. It was adorable.
The next day Mable suggested that they should definitely do horse riding and then camping. As they walked with their supplies to the horse stables, Lena noticed the other customers as they walked through the ranch. Some of them would just stare at her. Given her family’s history, Lena was used to being stared at, but this seemed different. Usually, people stared at her with judgment in their eyes. However, the people that she has seen so far have been staring at her like they wanted to dissect her which creeped her out.
There were two people in particular that seemed to be following them. It was two twin ladies. They had skin that almost looked like the color of snow and black long hair. The chilling thing was their eyes. They seemed unusually large with their dark brown irises staring back at you. It gave Lena goosebumps. They had notepads with them and were continuously writing in them without looking down. It was unnerving. Lena quickly tapped on Kara’s arm and motioned her closer.
“I think we are being followed,” whispered Lena into Kara’s ear.
Kara looked down at her with concern.
“Where?”
Lena pointed slightly behind her.
“They are behind us about 30 ft back.”

Joining The Superfriends - 5
Read the first 4 chapters on Ao3 here!
Lena stares across her little apartment. She stands tall beside her counter picking apart her appearance in the reflection of the toaster she bought on her recent excursion out shopping with Alex.
She hadn’t really been thrilled to be dragged along with Alex but the woman has been trying to get into her good books since she forcefully exposed her financial turmoil on her first day of work so she made her take a trip to a local store with her.
Alex was looking for furniture for her spare bedroom that is finally her office since it’s now empty and Lena was in desperate need of new appliances. Lena couldn’t even use the excuse of not having enough money because Alex was there when J’onn handed her an envelope with her paycheque inside it in The Tower after her first two weeks of working with them.
To say that she’s found her place well would be a true understatement, she fits in perfectly with the Superfriends. Lena is the person most surprised by that though, she never thought she could hang out in a group with literal superheroes and not feel like she’s sticking out like a sore thumb and yet here she is planning for a game night with them.
This week’s group is pretty small, just the Danvers sisters, Nia, J’onn and Alex’s wife Kelly who is also Guardian. That last little fact makes her want to squeal a little, Guardian is one of her favourites and so she has to stop herself from staring every two minutes, almost as much as she has to stop herself from looking at Kara.
She’s also been told that their previous IT specialist and engineer, Brainy, might be dropping by too since he has just returned from the future. It does make Lena a little nervous to know that he’s back because now she has to work a lot harder to convince them to keep her around. If they have someone who can do what she does then there’s no need to keep her around.
Lena will have to interrogate Alex later on about this new Brainy guy, the sisters are coming by early anyway to help her set up and they are meant to be bringing the games.
Since everyone is coming over and for most of them, they are seeing her tiny place for the first time but it doesn’t scare her, people seeing her space. She’s actually really proud of it, especially since with the help of Alex and Kara, this place is has been kitted out nicely.
All of the furniture looks great, the painting from Kara has been hung up on the wall, she bought a small square mirror and hung it up above her dresser, her bed is immaculate, no longer a mattress on the floor and Teddy Eddie sits keeping watch on her pillow.
Her recliner is one of her favourite things now though, she rearranged it slightly so it’s sat in the corner of the room at an angle facing inwards and the bookshelf is pressed to the wall beside it, filled with her favourite novels.
This place is really her own now and she actually enjoys the size of it, it’s a really cosy place, although she has no doubt that it’s going to be a tight fit with all the guests dropping by soon, they will have to sit on her bed and on the floor. Luckily, Kara already told her that she’d bring some extra cushions to make it cosy and that she knows the others won’t mind the limited space to move around.
Speaking of Kara, Lena has already come to recognise her go-to knocking pattern: a series of joyful little taps that come together to create a wonderful little tune that lets her know exactly who is on the other side of the door.
She hears that very tune almost every day when she’s working in the lab and Kara wants to interrupt her working so they can have lunch, usually knocking casually against the nearest surface, her favourite is the shelves right beside Lena’s head because she finds it amusing to make Lena jump because she’s so engrossed in what she’s doing.
It’s almost annoying but the cheeky little smile that spreads across Kara’s face makes her forget any anger or annoyance she feels in an instant. They end up chilling for a good half hour on the couch that sits in the middle of one of the rooms in The Tower, it’s legs scuffed from being pushed aside so the space can be used for training.
Lena brings her own sandwiches, or sometimes pasta salads while Kara settles for take-out most days followed by a whole pack of candy bars. She’d barely been able to hide her bafflement the first time she’d seen it but upon realising how much Kara has to eat to keep up with her necessary calorie intake, she set her mind on finding the most efficient method of getting those calories for Kara.
She’s still working on it but she’s certain she can finish it soon so she can show Kara, and hopefully impress her with it. People love it when you care enough to help them it with something, so hopefully this will get Kara to like her a little more, maybe even enough to take her out of the friend zone.
That cute little knocking pattern doesn’t even get half way through being done when Lena swings the door open to find Kara standing there on the other side with her hands full, just a single knuckle free to jab at the door to announce her arrival.
“Hello, Ms Danvers.” Lena grins at her, holding the door wide enough for her to stumble through. “I hope you realise that my apartment is much too small for you to move in with me. Why have you brought what looks like every item ever from your place to mine?”
Kara doesn’t lose a single drop of her enthusiasm with the questioning. “I have brought everything we need to have the best game night ever. I have three different board games, cushions to make a little nest on the floor, some amazing snacks and three bottles of wine.”
Lena stares at the pile of things on her counter. “Well, I guess if you brought snacks with you then we won’t need the ones I bought too.”
“Well I never said that…” Kara drawls, bouncing up onto her toes to let out some of her excited energy.
Lena just rolls her eyes at Kara, opening one of the cupboards and pulling out the snacks she bought and showing Kara. “What do you think of these?”
“You bought Oreos and chocolate chip cookies? I’m in love with you.”
“That’s the goal.” Lena murmurs under her breath, forgetting about Kara’s super hearing for a minute.
Kara looks over at Lena with a the tiniest of smiles, not letting on that she heard that part. She finds Lena to be pretty adorable.
“So, I figured that we could order pizza once everyone gets here.” Lena lets her know. “My treat for everyone being so nice to me and being so welcoming.”
Kara’s head is shaking before she has even finished her sentence. “Not how it works. We all split the take-out bill on game nights evenly. It’s the rules. If you want to be nice then bring everyone breakfast one day next week.”
“Why breakfast and not dinner?”
“Because half of the team is habitually late as I’m sure you have noticed, so most of us don’t have time to grab breakfast so it’s always a real treat when someone gets breakfast for us all.” Kara shrugs.
Lena doesn’t look convinced. “Are you sure it isn’t just because breakfast is cheaper and you are worried that I’m not being frugal enough?”
Kara bumps her shoulder into Lena’s gently. “Not at all, I think you’re more than capable of handling your own finances. It’s just what I see to be the better option and it isn’t a lie about the rules of game night. We really do split the bill.”
“Alright then, I concede.” Lena holds her hands up and grabs the cushions. “If you want the armchair then I suggest you park your perky butt there now before Alex gets here.”
That gets Kara moving and there is no doubt that some superspeed comes into play as Kara sails across the room to land into the soft cushioning of the chair, her hand finding the lever instantly and pulling it with a satisfying little muffled click.
Kara’s face lights up as the footrest shoots up. “You fixed it!”
Lena laughs a little at the overexaggerated reaction. “Of course I did, I can handle a recliner chair just fine thank you. You didn’t just hire me on my good looks…did you?”
“Well…” Kara tilts her head playfully dragging the word out.
The sound of gagging behind them shocks them out of their playful banter. “Oh my god, can you stop flirting for two minutes because it’s making me feel ill.”
Lena folds her arms and frowns. “Hello to you too, Alex. Please, let yourself in.”
“I did, thanks.” Alex adds a pack of beers onto the counter next to the wine and pulls one free.
Kelly stands behind her a little awkwardly. “Sorry, I would have knocked if this one didn’t just storm right on in.”
“That’s alright, It’s very clear that you are the better half of your relationship so you automatically get the benefit of the doubt.” Lena sends a smug grin over at Alex who glaring at back at her.
They make themselves comfortable on the edge of Lena’s bed after Kelly pours herself some wine into one of the glasses Lena left out ready and look over at the way that Kara has fully reclined in the chair, the back pushed into a horizontal position so she’s practically lying down.
Lena follows their gaze until her eyes fall upon Kara and the position she’s forced herself into. “Comfy there, Kara?”
“Yep, I was just napping until you and Alex finished your dick measuring contest.”
Alex is about to retort but Lena beats her to it. “We’ve finished now, Kara. I won, my dick is much bigger.”
“I figured it would be.”
“What?” Alex’s head whips around to stare at Kara’s reclined form.
“What? We all know it’s true, she’s the epitome of big dick energy, you’re more of a dalmatian pretending to be a rottweiler.” Kara pulls herself upright. “I’m going to get some wine, want some Lena?”
Lena can’t keep the shit-eating grin off her face. “Yes please.”
Alex keeps shifting her glare between Lena and Kara, not sure who she’s more annoyed at while Kelly just tries to keep her giggles at bay at the whole interaction.
“So Kelly, how is little Esme doing?” Lena perches on the edge of the recliner that Kara just vacated.
Lena can see the way both Kelly and Alex’s chests puff up with pride at the mention of their daughter and it makes her own chest ache a little, if only she had parents who got that same wistful look she’s seeing now whenever she was brought up to them.
“Esme is just perfect, she’s been drawing lots of pictures recently and she’s very much enjoying her time with her uncle jimmy now. He took her to the park this morning to play soccer so now she’s decided she wants to be a soccer star.” Kelly’s eyes are alight with joy and pride, shining so bright that Lena thinks she might actually go blind if she looks for too long in her direction.
Kara comes back over baring a glass of wine in each hand, offering one to Lena before squeezing herself onto the chair beside her. “That’s wonderful Kelly, although I am still mad that I haven’t met the little angel yet.”
“Soon, I promise, the kid is just the most popular girl at school, I can’t stop the influx of playdate requests from coming in.”
A knock at the door rings through the apartment, sturdy and not at all rhythmic like Kara’s was.
“Come in.” Lena calls, there’s no way she won’t be heard by whoever is on the other side of the door. She’s right too, the door swings open not a second later, showing J’onn, Nia and who Lena can only assume is Brainy.
Nia waltzes right in like she owns the place, a habit that seems to have spread from Alex. “What’s up bitches, the party is here!”
“And now we have the troublemaker, please stay out of the kitchen, you’re not trusted around sharp objects.” Alex corrects her.
J’onn smiles politely at them. “Hello everyone. Lena, thank you for hosting us this week.”
“You’re welcome, please help yourself to any drinks and snacks.” Lena is happy to see J’onn, he has been nothing but lovely to her and has taken to checking in on her in the lab from time to time to make sure that nobody, specifically Alex, is giving her a hard time.
Brainy closes the door behind him and strolls over with a stiff spine and his hands clasped in front of him, fingertips from each hand aligned with their counterparts. “Hello, you must be Lena, I am Querl Dox but you may call me Brainy. I am a twelfth level intellect.”
“Congratulations, but I have to ask, does it make your back ache from standing like that for so long?” Lena can’t stop herself, this is the guy that she’s competing against.
Brainy’s head tilts minutely as he processes the question. “Of the two point six million responses that I calculated to my introduction, that was not one of them. My back does not hurt, thank you for asking.”
“Brainy, that question wasn’t out of concern.” Alex snorts into her beer.
“I don’t understand.” Brainy frowns.
Lena stands up, encouraging Kara to do the same so J’onn can take the chair. “Don’t worry Brainy, think on it, you’ll get there.”
Kara and Lena arrange the cushions a little nicer before planting their asses down and Kara leans close to her. “Be nice, Lena. I like to see Brainy confused as much as the next person but I’m worried his head will explode if you’re not careful.”
“Yes boss.”
Nia takes a seat next to Lena and Brainy next to Nia. “Shall we order food and get the games started?”
She’s met with a round of affirmative responses so they order Chinese food and a couple of pizzas and get started on the first game – Monopoly.
Lena has never played Monopoly before and she sincerely hopes she never has to again, even if that means taking a lighter to the damned boardgame. She has never felt as many emotions as she is having playing this stupid game with these people.
They started out as good emotions, mostly just happiness and warmth from finding people she feels safe around but then it took a dark turn. Kara started buying up properties left and right, leaving Lena to have to pay her every time she accidentally landed on one, and since Kelly is the banker, she’s been slipping Alex notes discreetly enough that they are well into the game before anyone catches on.
Lena is losing and she is losing badly. “I hate this game.”
Kara giggles beside her. “We’ll find a game you’re good at don’t worry.”
Food arrives just as Lena goes bankrupt and she’s glad for the distraction from her piss poor board game skills.
She barely gets it onto the counter before she’s being surrounded by a mob of hungry hooligans. “Can you guys take a stap back please, I like to have a little bit of space to breathe.”
Everyone except Kara steps back. “If you have food then that’s not happening.”
With a shrug Lena grabs her share of the food then lets everyone else get theirs as she goes back to her seat and digs in, Kara only a second behind her with her plate twice as full as her own. They share a quick smile and Lena uses this moment where everyone else is distracted to talk to her.
“Thanks for planning this.”
“You’re the one that let everyone into your home.” Kara shovels some of her food into her mouth.
“And without you I never would have had the balls to ask everyone to come here. I actually really like you guys and we both know I don’t have masses of friends so thank you for helping me fit in a bit better.”
Kara shrugs sheepishly. “I know what it’s like to be the odd one out, it sucks, besides, I actually kind of like you. Don’t tell anyone.”
“I won’t, don’t worry.” Lena turns her attention to her own food, everyone making their way back to their seats.
A comfortable silence fills the room as they start eating but it doesn’t last long before the group falls into quiet chatter about the recent dip in crime in National City and how Lena hasn’t had chance to show off her hacking skills yet.
That transitions onto questioning her on what she’s been working on in the lab to which she has to awkwardly tell them that it’s a secret, praying that they will trust her enough to not dig into it too much. She has had practically no oversight despite the fact that she is technically an employee, but she is instead being treated as an equal team member.
Lena can’t stop herself from peeking over at Kara when she says that it’s a secret and they all seem to get the memo and drop it, even if she does get a look from Alex that tells her that she will be interrogated on it later.
Yep, she has definitely landed the best job in National City and she isn’t at all mad about it, even if she does have to put up with Alex, but then again, she perfectly balanced out all of Kara’s good traits, and Kara does have a lot of good traits.
The Danvers sisters are like night and day, she just hopes that they aren’t straight and gay.

@periwinkle-the-11th
Warnings: Inappropriate comments, a wee mini smut clip
Original Characters: Stephanie Johnston (a bully), Lilly Parker (another bully), Marjorie (Lena's friend)
Things To Know: It's a college AU, also some inspiration from Fratdaddyo_hara on AO3 specifically the work titled "reward".
••••
Lena took her seat on the -slightly wet from the rain the past days- bleachers. Putting her blanket over her legs as the chill of the night was already settling in. She searched for Kara, finding her fiancée doing warm ups before the football -American- game.
The day she got asked that question was the best day of her life -no one at the college the girls attend knows their getting married, or were even dating- she still remembers that day.
"What are we doing...?" Lena asked as she got lead blindly through the woods. "Are you gonna murder me..?" Kara chuckled behind her and kissed her hair "no" she dragged out the 'o' making Lena laugh as well. Soon Kara moved her hand and now Lena could see the little lakefront she decorated with the help of her sister and friends. "Kara.... It's beautiful" Lena said breathlessly "So are you.." Kara said. Lena turned and -kinda, eh, lil more than kinda- pounced on her girlfriend, pulling her into a hug and tucking her face in the crook of Karas neck. "I love you too baby" Lena chuckled into her "Cmon!" Lena tugged Kara along as she walked to the little picnic set up. Lena sat down on the blanket laid on the ground, smiling up at Kara as she did the same.
"... So I end this speech with.... Will you marry me..?" Lena was sobbing as she nodded and mumbled the word 'yes', Kara could barely hear her voice through the tears, but she heard. So she hugged her now fiancée, putting the ring on her finger as their foreheads touched and they admired it.
Kara also couldn't take her eyes off it as she thrusted her fingers into Lena. As Lenas hand gripped hers tighter as her orgasm rocked her.
Lena smiled at the memory fiddling with the ring she was able to wear because she was a quiet girl, overlooked, so no one cared if a ring was on that finger.
She soon grimaced when she heard the conversation of the girls sat in front of her.
"Fuck Danvers is hot."
"I know, look at her fingers, fuck imagine those in you"
Lena knew who these girls were. Stephanie Johnston and Lilly Parker. They went to Lena's high school as well, and they still bully her relentlessly. Kara wishes she could punch them but Lena always just says everything is ok and not to worry.
They know about the ring but they think Lena is just so pathetic that she is pretending, and Lena didn't defend herself in fear of revealing her relationship with Kara.
She smirks to herself, looking down at the ringon her finger. She finds it humorous they want to sleep with Kara when the girl they deem as "Pathetic" has that girl wrapped around her finger.
A body sits by her, its Marjorie, of course it is. Marjorie is the girlfriend of one of the offense players, the football team knows about them as the team is Kara's "crew" in their words.
"Hey Lee!"
Steph and Lilly were turn around and smirk when they see her hands.
"Still doing your little pretending act I see"
They laugh and turn around, Marjorie and Lena sharing a knowing look before hiding their laughter.
As the game goes on jealousy bubbles in Lena at the girls in front of her words ring through her head. It was funny at first she thinks.
"Lilly just... just imagine Kara fucking you."
"She definitely talks you through it."
That she does Lena thinks.
"Fuck she's greek goddess built I swear."
"I wonder what kinks she's into."
Praise, a little bondage, dominant sometimes, and a little bit of a daddy kink, but mostly she just does whatever I beg for Lena names off the top of her head.
"I need her strap.. like.... fuck...."
"Fuck shes so hot"
"I could pull her, I know it"
As it goes on the jealousy builds, and by the winning touchdown Kara scores Lena doesn't even jump up, to engrossed in her thoughts.
Once everyone gets through cheering and the announcements end Marjorie gives her a look. "Whats up with you..?" Lena looks up, something clicking as she starts moving a little fast tossing her trash from the concession stand under the bleachers like everyone does, and messily rolling up her blanket and putting her bag and blanket more near Marjorie.
"I need to do something, take this for me?"
Marjorie nods and Lena walks down the bleachers, slow as to not fall again however we don't speak of that.
She goes to the edge of the bleachers and whispers to the coach, he knows Lena well and about her relationship, Lena and Kara babysitting his 3 little girls frequently.
She gets on the field and walks over to Kara, she knows people are staring, frankly, she doesn't care.
Kara sees her and immediately walks over, assuming something's wrong, which already confuses people as they assumed they don't know each other.
"Are you ok baby..?" Kara whispers and Lena nods.
"Kiss me"
"Here.. with all these people..?"
"some people need to know your not up for grabs"
She spits out the word 'people' harshly, making it very clear to Kara who she is referring to.
"Are you one hundred percent sure..?"
Lena nod and Kara nods as well in understanding, leaning down and kissing Lena as everyone in the bleachers starts gasping and shouting in enjoyment.
The kiss is rather gentle, with some anger from the jealously coming from Lena, soon drowned out by the gentleness of Kara.
They pull away and Kara hugs Lena pulling her to the exit of the field. Grabbing Karas things from the locker room and Lenas things from Marjorie before they go home.
That night Lena is showing very clearly those girls comments amount to nothing in Karas eyes, shown in a way that includes the violent shake of her legs while their held down by Karas hands, and broken pleads that fall from her lips.

Supergirl (Movie Outline)
This movie is part of the same series as the Superman trilogy I laid out earlier, thus part of the same cinematic universe, and would fall shortly after Superman: Son of Krypton, after Superman and Supergirl defeated Brainiac and freed the citizens of Kandor.
The story would open with an "old folklore"-like telling of the Tragedy of Siobhan MacDougal, otherwise known as the Silver Banshee, an evil spirit that haunts an old manor in Scotland. The tale tells that the manor was once owned by a cruel and ruthless baron who had two children, Siobhan and Bevan, both as nasty and mean-spirited as their father. As they grew, Siobhan, being the oldest, believed she would inherit ownership, but her father, a traditional man, chose to give it to her brother instead. Siobhan turned to dark magic for answers, and planned to cast a spell to destroy her father and brother and take the manor for herself. Her father and brother tried to stop her in the deed, but she succeeded in killing her father, turning him to dust with a deathly screech. Her brother, by sheer dumb luck, managed to move one candle out of place and threw off her spell. The demon she had been drawing power from grew angry, and so dragged Siobhan's soul down to hell.
Bevan, believing he had seen the last of his sister, carried on with his life. He married, and had children, and lived in the moor into old age. Then one night, the spirit of his sister returned, bathed in silvery light, proclaiming vengeance upon him and all of his descendants, decreeing that every first born of his line would die a cruel death at the age of twenty, unless they sacrificed their mortal body to her so that she might live on the Earth once more. This happened first with Bevan's daughter, who refused to sacrifice her body and was thus found emaciated in a pond nearby on the day of her twentieth birthday.
In the present day, Kara Zor-El is living both in Metropolis and on board Brainiac's former vessel, where the citizens of Kandor live while they search for a home. Kara has come to love the Earth, as Clark does, and wants her family and friends to stay with her, but many are not so eager, some fearing the intense powers Earth's sun gives them, while others see the rampant prejudices on Earth, and feel they will always be viewed as outsiders. Kara pleads with the city council, and the council gives her an ultimatum. Find them a place where Kandor can be placed, with a dome of protection from the Earth's sun so that the citizens can live normal lives if they so choose, and they may decide to stay.
Kara becomes determined by this and sets out to seek a place, Clark helping her a bit by getting her in contact with people like Amanda Waller, Batman, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman to see if they know any place. It ends up being more complicated than she thought, and she ends up returning to Metropolis and stewing in the park for a little while.
While there, a teenager sits down beside her and offers her a smoke. Kara turns her down, but introduces herself as Supergirl. The teen already knows her: "One of those friendly Kryptonians, right?" The teen introduced herself as Linda Danvers, and the pair become friends. Kara talks with Linda about her concerns, about finding a place for her people. Linda makes a suggestion.
Linda tells Kara how she had an aunt that died at a young age, and left her a manor up in Scotland, with a fairly sizable plot of land that nobody wanted to touch. Linda says she has no interest in it, but if Kara and her people were interested . . .
Kara takes her up on her offer. Inviting a couple of her friends from Kandor, she and Linda travel out to this manor in Scotland, a huge run-down castle with lush fields and forests and lakes all around it, just big enough for at least some of the people of Kandor to live. Kara feels excited enough to almost say she'll take it, but almost immediately, she feels a chill down her back, like an intense presence is watching her.
We get some standard horror movie stuff throughout the middle of the movie, she and her friends staying there a few nights, while strange and mysterious things happen here and there, even one scene where one of Kara's friends is scared so badly she loses control of her powers and does a lot of damage to the grounds. Linda is evasive every time Kara tries to talk to her about any of it, and a lot of the staff and local villagers seem to be watching them. During this, we also do see Kara bond with Linda, Linda mentioning she'll soon turn twenty.
After a recurring nightmare of a silvery skeletal woman, and a couple more incidents occur, Kara and her friends go searching the grounds for answers. They come across an ancient tomb with an underground chamber that they can see with their x-ray vision and go down inside it, discovering a circle drawn on the floor, a strange book apparently of magic, and a scroll written by Bevan MacDougal, detailing the history of his sister and the curse she laid on their family.
As they read, Kara and her friends find themselves surrounded by Linda and the staff and villagers, dressed in robes. As Kara tries to escape, the villagers reveal little amulets made of green Kryptonite and force them onto the Kryptonians, knocking them out.
Kara comes to, strapped to an altar, in the middle of a large room with the kryptonite amulet around her neck. Linda stands over her, looking genuinely apologetic. Kara shouts at her for her betrayal, but Linda says its the only way. The Banshee has never been able to last long, inhabiting a human body, and the hosts that have sacrificed themselves to her have withered and died after only ten years or so. But the cult believes that a Kryptonian body like Kara's just might be able to hold the Banshee's power and allow her to live again on Earth.
Linda walks away, and the ceremony begins. The cultists chant, summoning the Banshee. Siobhan looks over Kara, admiring her body and saying she's heard of her and her Kryptonian kind, admitting to lusting after the power that she holds. Siobhan reaches out to touch Kara and take her soul, when one of her friends breaks free, their amulet having come loose somehow. The friend breaks the others free, including Kara, and takes out the cultists. Siobhan turns on them, unable to be hurt by their powers. She casts a spell at them and ends up striking Kara, hurting her badly. Both the Banshee and the Kryptonians are surprised to learn that Kryptonians are weak to magic.
Encouraged, the Banshee throws spell after spell of dark magic. She ends up grabbing one of Kara's friends, nearly draining the life out of them completely, when Kara chooses to make the sacrifice, telling her she'll let her take her body. Siobhan smiles, and reaches out with her finger to touch Kara's chest. She immediately erupts in flames, howling in pain, kryptonian power turning out to be a bit too much for her soul. She screams something about "That stupid girl!" and bursts, disappearing back to hell.
Their one friend badly wounded, Kara lowers her head as her friends all agree that they won't be staying here, and will go with the rest of Kandor to the small planet far away the Green Lantern Corps has located. Kara confronts Linda, who says nothing, but hands back Kara's things, all packed up, and apologizes for being a bad friend.
Kara returns to Brainiac's ship, where she is comforted by her father and mother. In her bag, she finds a letter from Linda, explaining that, hoping to save her own life, she had struck a deal with the Banshee, offering to find her a body that would last her more than ten years. Naturally, she had selected the Kryptonians. However, when it came down to it, Linda had come to care for Kara and couldn't bring herself to go through with it, cutting the amulet from Kara's friend's neck. Kara remembers details about how Linda's aunt had died at a young age, and how Linda had been about to turn twenty. In fact, she realizes that Linda's birthday was that very night.
Kara races back to Scotland, to the manor, where she finds Linda in the ritual chamber about to be sacrificed to the Banshee. She knocks out the cultists, and breaks Linda free. Linda is confused, but Kara says she wouldn't abandon a friend to die. It is too late, however, as the Banshee rises again, going after Linda's soul. Linda says that it's hopeless, but Kara asks her if there's anything in the spell book that can get rid of her forever. Linda says she can't do magic though. Kara tells her she needs to try, or else she's dead tonight or ten years from now.
We see Kara do battle with the Banshee, doing her best to avoid her magical attacks while keeping her away from Linda. After her first experience, the Banshee is hesitant to touch Kara, so this helps a bit. Just as Kara takes a serious hit and is about to be killed by Siobhan, Linda finds the strength within herself and casts powerful magic (momentarily showing her with angel wings as a reference). This ends up blowing Siobhan back and subduing her. Siobhan lashes out at them impotently, enraged. She reveals that she is in constant agony, as her original demise left her in a state of limbo, tethered to both worlds. Kara and Linda choose to take pity on her and Linda finds a spell to free her soul, letting her finally rest.
After the battle, Linda apologizes again to Kara, saying that she just didn't want to die. She tells her that the land should be curse-free now, and the land belongs to her people, if they want it. Though many choose not to, and leave to the other planet, including two of Kara's friends, enough do choose to stay, convincing the council to let her place half of Kandor there. Kara brings down the bottle, opens it, and the city is restored to its full state, taking up the lands of the manor with the castle in the center.
A post credits scene shows a little imp looking through a small looking glass at Kandor, giggling to himself that Kryptonians are weak to magic of all things, stating that he'll have such fun with them.
What do you think? Next time, Kara finds herself in an alternate universe, courtesy of a little imp.

I agree with this although i have never loved the Danvers sisters (Alex Danvers).
The show is called Supergirl which is a powerful woman with extraordinary abilities and yet Alex treats Kara like shit and in my opinion brings down her character.
Firstly : Alex shot kara out of the sky with Kryptonite and she knew that the bullet itself or the impact of the floor below could have killed her, Alex had the power to say no, no one was holding a gun to her head forcing her to do so.
Secondly: The red K incident, Kara told Alex under the influence about her issues and how Alex was controlling her and forcing her to be something she wasn't so that Kara wouldn't out shine her, which is stupid, of course she outshines her the show is called Supergirl, Kara is better then Alex she is a god damn superpowered Alien who was strong enough to overcome her planets destruction whereas Alex couldn't even handle the though of loosing Maggie.
Thirdly : Astra's death, Astra was on her knees where Alex could have cuffed her and taken her back to the DEO she wasn't in any threatening poses but instead started to talk to Alex about how she wanted to make sure what happened to krypton didn't happen here because her niece had made it her home and how there was no stopping non even if she wanted to (which was said in a way that indicated that she feared him) but Alex still killed astra even know she was basally surrendering and was not a threat (at the moment) and then let John take the fall and lied about it for weeks.
Fourthly: Alex distrust in Lena When Lena came along she gave kara a escape but Alex would threaten her and make digs towards Lena about her last name, which was disgusting, and continuedly undermining kara which would have made kara feel trapped and suffocated. she behaviour was disgusting and unprofessional. when she made kryptonite that is when Lena should have been investigated not before.
Fifthly : Maggie and Alex started a relationship where Maggie made it clear from the beginning that she didn't want kids and she wasn't ready to think about marriage but Alex wouldn't stop going on about it ad then when Maggie broke it off Alex was surprised and didn't understand why when it was obvious.
Sixthly : when Jeremiah was found Alex kept ignoring Kara and when kara brough up suspicions she ignored her even know Jeremiah was captured for years and god know what could had happened and then told kara that she was either apart of the family or she wasn't which was disgusting.
seventhly : Kara had just found out Argo was still there and her mother was alive, and everyone wants to go home at the end of the day but because of Alex continuedly calling her and asking when she was returning her reunion became a trip not a homecoming as it should have been.
Eighthly: when Lena found out about Kara she should have said so to kara and allowed Kara to Explain but she didn't, she made it into an excuse to become a villain and almost kill Kara with the Kryptonite missiles.
Ninthly: When Alex adopted Esme i didn't see it as a happy even i saw it as a worrying one because Alex has killed and experimented on aliens and now she was adopting a alien child, i had chills when it was announced. she should have adopted a human and left the alien children alone.
And lastly there is the continuousness of "i know what your going through" Reality check, you don't bitch.
Thank you for reading and hopefully this can make you see my point of view, i do not nor will i ever like (Alex Danvers) as a character.
Kara Deserves Better
You know what really made me mad about this episode? And I mean, after I heard it I was literally infuriated for the last 30 minutes of the episode.
When said she knew what Kara’s experience growing up as an alien because she was right there next to her.
Excuse me miss “I know the X experience because I have X friends” but no you don’t
Alex may have witnessed it. Alex may have been a bystander. Alex may have been with Kara every step of the way. But it doesn’t matter how close Alex is with Kara, she will never know what that experience was actually like because she is human. She doesn’t know what it’s like to be an alien. Point blank.
You think Alex would be okay if a straight person walked up to her and said “I know what it’s like to be gay in this country because I have gay friends.” No! She would probably punch them. Because that shit isn’t okay.
Don’t assume to know the experience of someone or of a community just because you’re close to someone in that community.
And if you do, then get fucked you piece of shit.
The fact that Alex said this wasn’t addressed in the show literally infuriated me. I’m not saying Kara is perfect, but the way this show treats it’s main character is bullshit. Kara was literally so guilty for trying to offer advice and Alex blew up at her and then gave some bullshit apology. Like, at least address the fucked up shit that was said to her.
I love the Danvers sister. They’re the heart of the show. But that doesn’t mean Kara always has to take Alex’s shit like that.
#supergirl#Kara Danvers#anti alex danvers#I’m just criticizing her character#Kara was so guilty#but anytime you criticize a character in this fandom people lose their shit#so anti Alex it is#I just wanted to punch Alex in the face#kara zor el

Kara Gets Hangry
Courtesy of my chats with @poppyssupergirl
Kara is a literal legend to be both revered and feared when it comes to food. We are talking eating out the entire DEO commissary and CatCo Cafe. And when she doesn’t get enough to eat, Oh BOY does she get hangry!
Imagine, after her first few weeks of working with Cat, everyone loves her. She's super sweet and helpful, she manages to mellow Cat, and best of all, the office has never been so chill!! It's super nice!! ... Until one day ...
She woke up late and missed breakfast ... and then Cat dragged her to a meeting and she missed lunch, and it has just been too long since the poor thing with the ungodly metabolism has eaten! The Hanger™ starts setting in and ohhh does Kara get grumpy and snippy and just overall unpleasant! (There might be general fear ... Were her eyes glowing?? I think her eyes were glowing?!? Oh god, she just crushed a stapler!!! Did she just fucking growl?!?!? Oh no, run!!) People are more disconcerted than when Cat gets pissed because that's to be expected, but Kara?? The literal embodiment of sunshine??? No, this is very unusual. (Cat is thrilled though, because honestly, it's thoroughly entertaining to see people getting burned left right and center by Sunny Danvers! And she's got a perfect view of it from right at her desk no less!!)
Of course, the anger ends when Alex stops by with some food after receiving some moody texts from Kara that tell her all she needs to know. After all, she's seen The Hanger™ first hand and knows all the tricks to handle it. So the whole office witness the ritual offering of food being made by the scary stranger that sometimes visits Kara at work and then suddenly ... all better!! Happy, chirpy, helpful Kara Danvers has returned from the grasps of The Hanger™!!! And everyone is like ??!!?!!??!
And so it becomes a ritual in the office. No one approaches Kara Danvers, especially when asking for help or a favor, without first bringing a food offering. Kara doesn't even realize what's happening, for a very long time. She’s just thrilled to be receiving a constant flow of treats.
#chats with poppy#headcanons#a hungry kara is a grumpy kara#kara danvers#supergirl#her metabolism has no chill guys#like seriously this poor thing must always feel like she's starving#so the hanger is p justifiable#Kara's cute but she's also a little feared tbh#but only when food is around#then you might lose a hand#just be aware#excerpts from my ridiculous brain

Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader, Sam Arias x Goddaughter!Reader, Alex Danvers x Niece!Reader
Word Count: 2350
You fall on your butt with a loud thud, in Lena’s office. Hilariously, like some fate or destiny, Lena and Sam both fall on the couch, while you and Kara fall on the floor. It’s ok, you’re not hurt and thankfully they’re not either.
It takes a minute for any of you to speak again. As your entire life flashes before your eyes, and memories flood your entire system, almost in an overwhelming way. Everyone seems to be experiencing the same thing, you think, being the first one up.
“Momma?” You ask, giving Kara your hand.
“Oh, hey little one.” She accepts your hand and stands up. Lena seems to shake off the feeling when she stands up too.
“Sam? Can you bring me the monthly financial analysis report?” It’s only when Lena speaks that Sam seems to shake off the memories away.
“Of course! And then I have to go pick up Ruby at the airport.” Sam looks at all of you with a smile and a blush on her face. “I’m so excited!”
“Oh! Speaking of which. I have to go to your house meet Jamie and organize the welcome party. And you will ALL be there at 5 sharp, right?” You get agreeable nods from all of them, but you fixate your look on Kara.
“Ay ay, Captain!” Kara salutes, as a joke, and move to Lena’s balcony to fly away. “I wouldn’t miss our family finally being complete in months for anything!”
“Yeah.” Sam says with a soft smile. “Finally.”
“Sam, report?” Lena bobs her head, in question.
“Right, right! I’ll go get them in my office.” Sam leaves the room, and you look back a Lena. She is also smiling softly to herself.
“What?” You come closer, holding her chin so she can look at you. “Why are you smiling like that?”
“Nothing.” Lena raises her gaze at you and lets out a happy sigh. “I just love working with Sam. And I’m happy Ruby is coming. I love how right this feels.”
“Me too.” You kiss Lena’s cheek, then go to her balcony as well. “And I can’t wait to meet the baby.”
When you land in front of Aunt Alex’s house, you don’t even have to knock, and Jamie is already opening the door and yelling at you.
“My God, finally!” She rushes you in. “I don’t know what’s with you Supers and being late. You have superspeed, and still.”
“I’m not late!” You defend yourself, looking around. “I can organize this place in a flash.”
“Then do it!” Jamie can be very bossy when she wants to. You don’t care. You know what’s going on with her even if she doesn’t say it. “The banner looks a little crooked. Can you move that part up?”
“Fine.” You fly a little bit to make it look better.
“Now the other part is too low, can you-?”
“Oh my God, Jamie, chill!” You land back on the floor and go to the fridge, grabbing yourself something to drink and ignoring her loud huff behind you. “I’m sure she won’t notice it is an inch lower.”
“It’s just-” Jamie starts. And you know this. You know what she’ll say next. You know what she is thinking and everything that can possibly make it out of her mouth. You know her like the palm of your hand, maybe even better. “It has to be perfect.”
You look at the banner she did. ‘Welcome home Ruby and Davey’. You let out a smile, and you squeeze her shoulder gently, like her mom usually does, to calm her down.
“Ruby is going to love it. And Davey is a teeny tiny baby who can’t read. So you’re safe.”
“You don’t get it.” Jamie huffs. Except you do. But you let her vent anyway. “When mom and Sam got married, I was six, and Ruby was in college already. We never really had that much in common, because the age difference-”
“Was absurd.” You finish her sentence, knowing exactly what she was about to say.
“But now I’m old enough. And Davey can really-”
“Bring us closer! And I can have the sister I’ve always wanted!” You finish again.
Jamie rolls her eyes at you, upset. “You’re a pain.”
“Listen, dipshit. One, you have the sister you’ve always wanted. Exhibit A.” You point at yourself. “And two, Ruby loves you. You know it’s true. She talks about you like you’re the most incredible person in the universe, which is far from true, so it can only mean she loves you.”
You get a punch in the arm for that. But you ignore it, obviously.
“Besides, I bet Davey’s head smells really nice, so I’ll be hogging him at all times.”
“No you won’t. I will! I’m his aunt!” Jamie yells and laugh. “Oh, wow. I’m an aunt.”
“So, anyways. Now that we’re done with this.” You move to your backpack. “Can we work on our art project?”
“Oh, sure! I have some ideas.” You and Jamie move to the table and start doing the homework, instead. “Another A for the Danvers cousin, for sure.”
“Eh, it’s not even exciting anymore.” You look at your phone ringing close-by. “Julie and Liv want to hang out. I’m gonna text them we’re busy.”
“Yeah, can you imagine them getting here and seeing Brainy in all his green glory?” Jamie wheezes out a laughter and you join.
“Or Supergirl landing in the backyard?” You roll your eyes. “No, thanks.”
When Sam finally arrives with Ruby and Davey, everyone is already in their living room. Kara brought the cake without any major accidents. It has a little dent in the corner, that she blamed it on the landing, but you’re sure it was her little finger for a small taste. Alex picked up some more food and rushed there, afraid to miss it. Brainy and Nia showed up with donuts -you can’t wait to dive in in those-, and J’onn came alone because he left M’gann patrolling the city.
“Surprise!” You all whisper-yell when they open the door.
“Aw, thanks guys.” Ruby says, baby in arms, smile on her face. “Thanks for not yelling too. He just fell asleep on the car ride here.”
“Can we see him?” Jamie whispers, a little shy.
“Of course, Aunt Jamie. Why don’t you come here and pick him up?” Ruby says with a smile. You smile too. She hasn’t changed one bit, still looking a lot like Sam. But you’re still very surprised to see her as a 30-something woman.
“Really?” Jamie comes closer. Ruby kisses Jamie’s head first, then slowly puts Davey in her arms.
“Be careful, honey.” Alex’s heart is beating so fast in her chest, as she tries to help them with the transition.
“Don’t worry, Alex.” Ruby says, reassuring. “She got him.”
“Look moms, I’m holding my nephew!” Jamie smiles from ear to ear, looking at Sam and Alex like she can just fly away in excitement.
“Yes, I see that, sweetie.” Sam comes closer to kiss Jamie’s head as well. She plays with Davey for a second, before putting her hands behind Jamie’s back as she points to the living room. “Why don’t you go sit on the couch, baby?”
Jamie agrees, making her way to the couch with you in her tail. You don’t even care about the rest of the party. You even forget the donuts, before Sam sneaks one in your hand and gives you a wink.
“Before they’re all gone.”
“Thanks godmother.” You smile excited, shoving an entire donut on your mouth, so you can keep slowly caressing baby Davey with a finger. “He is so tiny and cute.”
It’s not long before Ruby picks him up to feed him, and your moms convince you that it’s time for you all to leave. Actually, they don’t quite convince you as much as they make you, claiming Ruby and Davey have to rest and that you have school first thing in the morning.
“Where is she?” You hear Kara’s voice from downstair, in the morning. You’re almost ready for school, but you got a little late because Jamie texted a picture of baby Davey and you were drooling over his cuteness.
“She never needs us to wake her up.” Lena completes Kara’s concern, but you rush downstairs.
“I’m up, I’m up.” You kiss them both good morning. “Jamie sent me a picture of her nephew and I fell a little behind.” You look at your watch. “But I’m not late, anyways.”
“Always the first to arrive and the last to leave.” Kara smiles, peaking your cheeks. “Never seen someone love school so much.”
“Oh, well. I’m a huge nerd. Blame it on mom.” You kiss Lena’s forehead, so she knows you’re joking.
“Nope, no blaming on the Luthor, ok?” Lena jokes and you smile.
“By the way, is today the day when I can finally tell everyone in the school that I’m a Luthor?”
“NO!” Kara and Lena yell at the same time. You furrow your brows and roll your eyes.
“Eleven years of school I’m still just Danvers. I. Don’t. Get. It.” You punctuate your words with eye rolls. “Jamie gets to use Olsen-Danvers. Why don’t I get to use Luthor-Danvers?”
“Trust us, it’s for the best.” Kara kisses your cheek. “Just be a Danvers out there. Is that so bad?”
“No, of course not. I just-”
“Baby, we all know you’re a Luthor. You don’t have to yell at everyone in National City. You know how much they love Luthors in this universe.”
“Well, I don’t know about them. But I love THIS Luthor very much.” You hug Lena, kissing her head one more time. “And I don’t care what they think, because I’m very proud to be related to you.”
“Baby, I love you and I really appreciate what you’re saying. That doesn’t change things, ok? No one in school should know you’re a Luthor. That’s the rule.”
“Fine, fine.” You let go of her. “Come over here, Danvers.” You hug Kara too, who lets out a happy sigh when in your arms. “I love your name as well.”
“Good.” She kisses your forehead. “I love you, little one.”
“Ok.” You get down from the stool, making your way to the front door. “Bus is almost here. I love you two very much. See you out there, Supergirl.”
“Not if I see you first.” Kara answers with a smile.
“See you later at L Corp, mom.”
“Have a great day, babygirl!” You hear Lena saying as you close the door. Oh, you will. You always have a good day at school. You get on the bus as soon as it stops, close to your house.
“Hey Marshall! Hey Ted.” You walk past them, waving hello. “How’s your sister, Barney?”
“Doing better.” He answers.
“Great!” You make your way to your seat waving hello to everyone on the bus. “Hey! How’s it going?”
“Hey Jules.”
“Honestly, you sound like a politician saying hello to everybody. Why don’t you just run for student body president already?” Julie says when you sit next to her.
“Nah, too much trouble. I already have some better extracurricular activities.” You look behind yourself with a smile. “Hey, Miss Rose.” You raise an eyebrow at her.
“Miss Danvers.” Maya answers quietly, keeping her eyes glued to her book.
You get a punch on the arm from Julie. “Give up.” You know she’s talking about Maya, and you smile unbothered, because how can you give up on the nicest, smartest, kindest, prettiest person you’ve ever met?
“Will never.”
As soon as you’re out of the bus you meet Jamie and Liv, getting out of their bus as well. The four of you get together, making your way inside the school.
“Hello! Can I see both Danvers in my office?” The principal says as soon as you step in. God, that woman loves you so much, she keeps calling you in her office. “Jamie, we need you to win the volleyball game this week. We’re this close to finally beating Central High School.”
“Yeah, I got it Mrs. Goodwin. Don’t worry.”
“And you-” She looks back to you with pleading eyes. “Please consider entering the debate team again. We really need you out there.”
“Sorry Mrs. Goodwin. My extracurricular activities don’t leave any time for that. Thanks for checking in again, though.” You hear the school bell. “Oh, that’s our cue.”
You make your way out of her office with Jamie right behind you.
“Our best students.” You hear the principal saying and you smile to yourself. Nothing new here.
When school is over, you say goodbye to your friends and make your way to L Corp. No one knows which extracurricular activities you take. They can’t know you have your own lab at L Corp because you’re a Luthor. And also they can’t know you’re Superkid, so those are the secrets you keep. Which is basically the biggest chunk of your life.
When you walk in your lab, some light flashes blue and you see a projection of yourself. You furrow your brows. What the fuck, you don’t remember doing that.
“Hi. I am you from the past. And we need to talk.”
“Show-off.” You roll your eyes at the hologram. Just a video would’ve been fine.
“If you’re back here, this means your trip to the past was a success.” Hologram-you say, and you frown harder. Trip to the past? “It’s quite possible you don’t remember any of it.”
Are you always so annoyingly sure of everything?
“So I’m here to tell you about my life. One that you might have unconsciously changed. Or maybe consciously, I don’t know what was going on in your mind. Or, also, those three moms you took with you might have done things and changed everything.” Hologram-you raises a fist, and you see the bracelet you’ve been wearing since yesterday, for some reason. You also noticed Kara, Lena and Sam had one too. Three moms. It checks out. “It’s time to talk about your life. Your real life.”
