About to start the thanksgiving prep. Aka start making all of the foods that have to set (mostly dessert)
#we’re having:#goat cheese pumpkin cheesecake#Hershey bar pie#I also need to make the cranberry salad (No pecans) which is not dessert solely because it’s served with the meal#and I’ll probably end up helping make the cornbread for the andouille cornbread dressing

So. Picture this.
I have a finished pumpkin pie on the stove top, cooling, with lovingly homemade gluten free pie crust. I have just taken a pan full of orange peel and water off the stove, because I decided to redo the candied orange peel after the first failure. The timer goes off - the lovingly homemade gluten free pie crust I'm blind baking for the pecan pie is done. I pull that out of the oven and set it on the stovetop to start cooling. The cheesecake goes into the oven. I turn around and get back to chopping toasted pecans.
The pie pan explodes.
What did I not do? Turn off the burner before I put the parbaked crust on it. Now there is glass across the entire kitchen floor, the pie crust is burning as it makes contact with the hot burner, glass shards are covering the entire stovetop as well as the pumpkin pie. The smoke detectors start going off.
It was not my greatest moment.
