Damian needs to get his brothers to go to college
Listen if I knew how to link posts, I'd've done so ages ago. But this is a follow up to a thing I did about how Alfred feels about his swarm of noncollege kids. Also buckle up. This is probably going to be a long one.
Dick
Dick: What's wrong kiddo? You look even more frowny than usual
Damian: Do you remember Kevin?
Dick: Yeah that racist brat who's ass I'm definitely not going to beat next time I see him.
Damian: I've been assigned to work with him for a group project
Dick: That's awful. So are you going to phone-in the project
Damian: *sighs* I normally would. But Pennyworth says that I can't put one toe out of line at school unless one of you goes to college
Dick: Ugghh fine! But I want to be at the next PTA meeting so I can throw something at Kevin's mom. And my degree is going to be in something stupid. Like accounting.
Jason
Damian: What is it going to take to get you to go to college
Jason: 1. A really good, safe for the public explanation for why I'm not dead anymore. 2. For it to not directly benefit you. Preferably if it inconvenienced Dickolas
Damian: Would you settle for an airtight false identity, enrollment in a better school than Grayson, and being on a fast track to graduate before him?
Jason: Let me think about it. I need to decide between a medical or a teaching degree
Tim
Tim: Brat, I understand where you're coming from but like I've already told Alfred, I don't think native gothamites should go to college. The stress breaks us down into villains
Damian: I've already lowered my expectations. I'm here to ask you to finish high school. Fail to comply, and I'll run you through
Tim: No
Damian: No?
Tim: No. Are you going to tell me that if you caught Alfred slipping and could leave that hellhole with only minor consequences, you wouldn't? And are you telling me that something as plebian as death threats would be enough to get you to return?
Damian: You make some very good points. But have you ever had to deal with being a person of color in a predominantly white school?
Tim: Do you want me to beat some of them up? Have you told Alfred? He'll curbstomp their whole family
Damian: Thank you, but no. And I haven't told Pennyworth. Grayson will be sad if someone beats him to it. I would just like to meet Alfred's ultimatum and then play hookie when they annoy me too much.
Tim: ....I'm just getting a GED. And this stays between Alfred and us

I GIVE YOU a totally real list of viral photos of Battinson with his newly adopted son, Dick Grayson, that took Gotham by storm
Bruce crossing the street with a rosy-cheeked Dick Grayson dutifully holding his hand, Dick somehow found the camera and is waving to it excitedly (this is the first ever photo of them together)
Dick balanced perfectly at the top (and I mean on top) of a jungle gym while Bruce looks stressed out of his mind, pleading for Dick to get down before he hurts himself
Dick doing the exact same thing a month later but this time Bruce looks completely unfazed, sipping a coffee like it’s just a normal Tuesday (the photos are regularly paired together as a popular meme template in Gotham)
A selfie of Bruce and Dick making stupid faces at the camera that Dick turned into his class for one of those “About Me” posters you make in 3rd grade
Dick asleep in Bruce’s arms after a fancy dinner party, they’re wearing matching suits, Bruce is kissing his forehead :(
Bruce and Dick propped up against a wall, sharing a packet of fruit snacks in an empty room next to the charity gala they’re supposed to be attending
A plethora of photos of Dick climbing on top of Bruce at inopportune moments (à la this post)
Including a press conference.
And an investors’ meeting (bring your kid to work day)
Bruce standing outside of Gotham Elementary holding Dick in his arms with matching scowls on their faces. A mother and her son have been cropped out after the boy shoved Dick, and the mother refused to make him apologize. (It almost got physical. The mom has since quit the PTA.)
Bruce and Dick wearing matching sunglasses on the Gotham pier, Bruce is sipping another coffee while Dick eats from a comically large ice cream cone. A second photo shows Dick offering some to Bruce, which he accepts
Bruce retying Dick’s tie in the middle of another charity gala (for the children’s hospital)
Dick doing a cartwheel in the park while Bruce looks at him with the fondest look humanly possible
Bruce and Dick in a convenience store at 10pm (on a Friday) wearing matching oversized Nirvana shirts and pajama pants, it looks like they’re having a movie marathon (it’s Grey Ghost reruns <3)

Food Headcanons
Bruce Wayne: Now, it's funny to say that this guy can't take spice. I do agree with this. However, that does not mean that he does not EAT IT. Someone decides to pick something up and it's like... pepperoni pizza and even if his eyes start to water and he has to leave the room, he will eat the pepper that came with it. Come on, Jason's staring him down! He has to! (I think this thought mostly comes from the WFA episode where he out-petties a pta mom) But he likes weird little snacky dishes because he doesn't have time to sit down for a full meal. ESPECIALLY things that can be dipped. I think he he likes the fact he can control it. I have a weird feeling that he'd be obsessed with bruschetta, but that might just be a me thing.
Dick Grayson: I honestly think that this man goes to the grocery store once a week, picks whatever he thinks he can make in less than twenty five minutes, and then lives off that. But he also gives me major pasta vibes. I feel like that man likes chicken alfredo. I feel it in my soul. He also definitely seems to be the kind of person to put peppercorns on it after it's done, too.
Jason Todd: Makes me think of Sonic's diet. I imagine a lot of "American" foods like hamburgers, hotdogs, fries. Something convenient, but a little fresher than Dick. I think he likes chips in his sandwiches. Don't know why, he just gives that off. He can handle spice miraculously well, actually.
Tim Drake: Operating under Grayson rules, but honestly... He doesn't have a spice tolerance either. And unlike Bruce, he isn't going to try and be the bigger man or whatever. Nah, he'll gladly just make himself mac and cheese and take it to his room. Then, he can get back to work.
Damian Wayne: It needs to be VERY spicy, VERY sweet, or VERY sour. No in-between. He lives for extreme foods. I don't really know why this is the case. Maybe it's just me and it's because me and my sister were like that when we were kids, or maybe it's just that I think of Damian as a very literal person who wants everything to be categorized. But maybe that's just me. I don't know.

Death To The Family Name
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/7kqrotg by PlatitudinalTeen One father mourns the loss of his son & another celebrates his return after faking his death. ..... "There, there," Joker hushed softly, brushing the hair from his face so he could better see his son. "You're perfectly safe Jay." He was only three years older than he was when he ran away from home, but he looked so much more mature. So much wiser and stronger. It was a shame that of all the people his little boy could run to, he had to choose Batman. He could admit that it was a sore subject between them. It was, after all, a bitter pill for him to swallow— watching as his only child chose his sworn enemy as his idol. Still, he persisted, letting him live with Bruce Wayne and run around with Batman, watching and waiting for the day when Jason would get bored the way he always did and come running home. But that day hadn't come yet, and he was getting a little impatient. He missed his son. "Safe," Jason scoffed, bringing his head back forward to look at his father's pasty white skin and his bright smile. "This is child abuse," he stated. "You know that, right?" "No," his father responded, repeating the word a few more times as he shook his head. "No, no, no. I would never hurt you." BATGIRL (FIVE)
Dick sputtered for a second before answering, the smile faltering on his face. "What? Of course not, I barely even know the guy."
Barbara faltered, put off by how simply truthful he seemed. She wondered if it was all in her head. Chewing on her lip, she nodded, more to herself than anyone else. "Yeah, alright."
Barbara didn't think that she was a weak person. She was actually pretty fucking great at confrontation. Her screaming matches with the Commissioner proved that time and time again. But this was Dick Grayson, the only person she would ever even consider a friend outside of her cousin.
"Howabout's we rejoin the group?" He asked, easily falling back into the easy-going socialite persona she always saw at school. Babs was starting to wonder if he was just acting whenever she saw him. The flash of— of whatever it was that went on earlier was enough to make her wary.
Still, Babs nodded and smiled back at him, walking towards the group a good twenty feet away. They were going to the rec room next. Well, the hallway outside of it; the interior was deemed 'too dangerous' by some PTA mom or another.
Her Mary-Jane's (the dumbest shoe in the entire galaxy) clacking against the cement floor and the occasional muffled scream were the only sounds heard as the two of them walked a few feet behind the bored group of teenagers. For the first time in Barbara's memory, it seemed like Dick Grayson didn't know what to do.
Suddenly, a shout of anger rang out from next to them, a broken door falling to the ground. Crooked nails on dirty hands reached towards Barbara, before Dick was yanking her backward. She stumbled after him, his arms wrapping around her as they hit the corner, their classmates thundering around them. In the chaos, Dick held her tightly, letting go only as the screams got louder.
Turning, Barbara looked for Dick, losing him in the crowd of students now flooding Arkham. It was a mess and Dick had just ditched her during a breakout.
__
Twenty minutes later, all of the students were back on the busses, Dick nowhere to be seen. Barbara texted him nearly a dozen times before getting a response. Gt on the wrng bus. C U at schol.
She frowned, sinking into her seat. Barbara figured he had ditched her for one of his dozen other friends, probably the people he went to find during the near-breakout. Barbara couldn't help but wonder why Dick had even bothered to go with her in the morning at all. It was clear that something odd was going on, she just didn't know what.
It was weird that James and Dick had both been so . . . tense in the infirmary. Thinking back, she had never seen James act so weird around anyone but the Commissioner. It made sense when it was him and his father, they had been on the rocks for as long as Barbara could remember. But, as far as she knew, James and Dick had never even met. And Dick— well Dick wouldn't hurt a fly. Babs had never seen him be unwilling to talk to anyone, let alone so hostile.
Then, there was the whole near-escape thing. Dick had reacted quicker than the doctors, pulling her out of the way and away from the raging patient. Her face felt hot as she remembered his arms caging her in a hold of protection as he made sure she was safe. But, right afterward, he had just . . . disappeared. Ditched her, reminding Babs that he wasn't her friend. Babs didn't have friends anymore. She just had James.
After returning to the school, Barbara sat alone outside the school with her earbuds in. She didn't really feel like looking for Richard Grayson at the moment and the day's mood had been soured. Things weren't adding up and she couldn't help but think that something was being kept from her. He tried talking to her once the teachers released them from the rest of their classes. But Babs wasn't in the mood for half-assed bullshit. And the day was just another reminder that she didn't have any friends. She had lost that part of her months ago and she'd probably never get her back.
When she arrived back at home that day, the house was as quiet as ever. She felt on edge and more than a little hesitant to go inside. After what she had seen at the Asylum, she understood why the Commissioner didn't want her to go.
But, when she walked in the door, the house wasn't empty.
__
"I can't believe you, Barbara— forging a signature, lying to me and the school!" He ran a hand over his face, breathing deeply.
"Uncle Jim— "
"I'm disappointed in you." He stated, voice low. "Your father would be ashamed."
Barbara reeled back like she had been slapped. The Commissioner never talked about her parents, especially not her father. "I'm— "
"You're grounded for three weeks." The Commissioner cut, grabbing his coat. "I'm going back to work."
Pushing hair from her face, Barbara choked on air as the door slammed shut behind the Commissioner. Her hands shook and her lips trembled, but she refused to fall apart. She felt like an idiot. She was an idiot.

I'm as much of a fan of Brucie Wayne as the next person but I do love me some competent, Tired Dad™ businessman Bruce Wayne. No one thinks he's Batman, not because he's an idiot but because he's running a multi-billion dollar company, starting social projects for Gotham, and going to school events for like 7.5 kids.
Conspiracy theorists, at most, figure that Bruce is a meta capable of being multiple places at once or time dilation. No one is crazy enough to think he has time to also be a crime fighting furry

[ID: two comic pages that has six panels each of random Batman related activities or objects. In the first panel, Robin is holding a picture book labeled 'Batman's Souvenir Album'. Batman and Robin are smiling down at it and we get to see some of the examples. Each picture has a narration box that labels it. As follows the panels are;
'The Batplane of the 1950's.' With the airplane flying in front of a white, puffy cloud and light blue sky.
'Disarming a crook with the Batarang.' With Batman's arm still extended from throwing the boomerang. It hit the criminal's hand and caused them to drop their gun.
'Batwoman (Kathy Kane) on her Batcycle.' With Batwoman on a solid red motorcycle.
'The Bat-signal stabs through the night skies.' With a giant searchlight that casts an emblem of the Batman logo shining into the dark city skyline.
'Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne - the caped crime fighters' civilian identities.' With Bruce and Dick in their civilian clothes and smiling at each other happily.
'Closing in on the Joker.' With the Joker in the foreground, laughing as he gets chased by Batman.
'Wire walking - one of the Dynamic Duo's acrobatic specialties.' With them close together, walking on a tightwire without a struggle.
'Robin swings into things by Bat-rope.' With Robin smiling as he holds onto a thin rope - his cape flying behind him with the motion.
'The Batmobile of the 1950's.' With the Batmobile speeding down the road with skyscrapers in the background.
'Analyzing evidence in the Batcave's chemical lab.' With Batman holding a small test tube that has steam coming out of it. Robin is beside him and is watching a rounded piece of lab equipment that sits on the table in front of them.
'The Whirly-Bats.' With Batman and Robin smiling and operating their individual, small helicopters.

Is it just me that thinks it would be really interesting to explore Dick’s thoughts when he meets Tim (for the second time)? Like, imagine that he genuinely likes Tim, but he finds it hard to be around him because he’s pretty much the walking talking reminder of the worst day of his life. Like, his emotions just contrasting with each other in delicious angst.
Oooh yes - I've seen posts point out how yeah. In canon, Dick didn't immediately accept any of the other Robins, his first impression with Tim in A Lonely Place of Dying was essentially go home kid, you're going to get hurt (which like... correct assessment there buddy).
What a lot of people don't know is that along with Jason dying (which oh my gosh - the agnst of finding out months after the fact - not even having anyone tell him - and being told in like... the rudest way possible - most people don't realize this affected him enough to go to therapy) a couple other things happen shortly after he met Tim - this is a rough timeline:
1. He fires Danny (who's a younger teen) from the Titans on the titans (happens in the same issue he finds out Jason is dead - Bruce also insinuates it's Dick's fault he ever even took in Jason because he made him care about ppl which just ow what agnst) because he feels he can't be responsible for Danny's safety anymore
2. A Lonely Place of Dying happens, he meets Tim, says no we don't need a Robin, goes to try and help Bruce, they get trapped in a collapsed building, Tim becomes Robin to save them, Tim's Robin etc. (I can see this being Dick basically being like okay if Bruce is going to take in a kid, I'll help, train him, but it's on Bruce if anything happens this time - of course he likes Tim - but trauma)
3. The Danny plotline keeps going in NTT, there's an arc where Danny dies (because he keeps trying to help even though Dick made it clear he didn't want kids doing hero things - under his leadership at least). And notably, this arc also sees Joey, Raven, and Raven's mom die, and Vic ends up comatose.
And I headcanon this is what really spurred Dick into "I must be the absolute perfect big brother" mode, because Tim had wormed his way into his heart, and he realized through Danny he wasn't really going to stop anyone, so the best thing he could do is support Tim and be backup anytime he called for any reason. Which in Robin (1993), we see this "Dick will pick up the phone any time any place kind of thing" and in YJ 98, he even goes to a parent teacher conference for Tim.
Dick imo, trauma bonded to Tim (who imprinted on him like a duck all the years ago) relatively soon in their relationship (i feel like realizing he couldn't stop Tim is a turning point - because ultimately Bruce had control of this situation - he had the power in the relationship with Danny, but Tim wants to work with Bruce). And i would guess (though we see Tim's side of the relationship so canon wise you can't actually tell) that everytime he sees a call from Tim, he panics because he remembers giving a very similar kid his phone number. And i think this feeds into the way he snaps in Last Laugh - killing the Joker because he thought Tim was dead (and the clown bringing up Jason's name just tipped him over the edge).
TL;DR Tim's a walking reminder of multiple worst days of Dick's life and I think about their relationship a lot

A few more things that are canon cause I say so:
Acrobatics teacher Dick
Mother hen Bruce
Non-verbal/more comfy with visual forms of communication Cass
Alt/skater Tim Drake (I know it's technically canon but I want him to dress like it too)
Swiftie Dick Grayson
Any super + any bat = -2 braincells
Got the hereditary adoption gene Jason
I just think he should look up one day with his several feral orphans and realize he's his dad
While we're at it: Loved and Supported Jason
Greek Mythology Nerd Tim (I just think he'd have excellent takes, especially about Achilles and Patroclus also baby bi Tim and his Percy Jackson phase)
Norse and Celtic Mythology Nerd Jason (he knows a lot of others but these were his faves)
Egyptian Mythology Nerd Steph (she had the shiny book)
Damian gets clingy when he's sick
Damian is still definitely a baby child he just can also kill you
The "A Good Soldier" plaque actually said "A Hero"
Bruce also considered something like "gone too soon" or "Always missed" but is too emotionally constipated for that
Pta mom Brucie
Ace is a trained psychiatric service dog
Dick is the kind of sibling that bursts into your room and demands you go to McDonald's or something with him
No he doesn't care that you're doing something
Jason is the kind of sibling who opens the door stands there for a few seconds and then leaves
Harley's favorite Robin was Jason (he was the perfect combination of caring and tough, he'd help anyone he could with a smile but he also swore until B gave up telling him to stop)
Mitski Stan Tim
I'm going to cap this here because I could go on for a long time.
Also it kills me a little bit to have to not elaborate

Supernova (Chapter 8)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Dick Grayson as Robin x Reader
Warnings: Bombs and minor character death.
Word Count: 3.7K
Summary: As the daughter of Wonder Woman, you always knew you were destined for something more than the life of a mortal. It seemed like your wish for a life of adventure came true but whether in the form of a blessing or curse, you didn’t know. All you know is that you were the sole witness for a chain of murders that would begin. It’s up to you to find out who was the murderer before it’s too late……
A/N: I'm back?? Maybe? Also thank @tadpole-san for telling me to post
Supernova Masterlist
"Anyone have any questions?"
That was more of a rhetorical question. Batman had gone through the presentation very, very clearly but it had no assignment after it, so you were sure that those who did have questions didn't even voice it, choosing to go through the case file themselves later.
You, however, raised your hand and everyone's eyes slid towards you.
"Why exactly are they after me?"
At base value, you could see why that would be a stupid question and you didn't exactly hear it the way they did when you were thinking of something else. It wasn't until you saw everyone's faces did you realize what it sounded like and rushed to correct yourself.
"I mean, the case is made public now, as is all the evidence. Even though my name is censored out, my witness statement was also made public, and they now know that I don't exactly have any incriminating evidence against them. Everyone knows that I only saw 2 men take Mary Anne, which can be easily assumed by anybody. So, why are they after me?"
When the realization washed over everyone's face, you couldn't help the small smile that grew, proud that you had made a good point that no one else had thought of till then.
"We don't know for certain that they're still after you. The case became public after you came to the cave. So, I guess we'll just have to find out if they're still after you and if they are, then why." Batman followed.
"How're we going to do that?"
"By bringing you out to public and reactivating your social media accounts."
You let out a sound that was a cross between a scoff and a laugh, "There's no way my mother would let that happen."
Sure, it was kind of childish to bring up your mother and how she would never give you permission to pull a stunt like this, but you were the daughter of Wonder Woman, not some PTA mom that would at most ground you.
It was more like she would ground anybody who dared touch you.
And by that you mean she would put them 6 feet underground.
Goodbye Batman. It was nice knowing you.
"I'll take care of your mother. For now, you should post something about going to Gotham Park, since Gotham was the location for the most recent murder."
You nodded.
"I'll make sure there will be a league member nearby in case of anything and it'll be better for you to take only one person with you-"
"I'll do it!"
Everyone's head snapped towards Robin who was embarrassingly holding up his hand like he was called on by his teacher. You smiled at your lap, trying to hide just how warm your face got at his enthusiasm and even though you knew he could’ve hidden it, Batman smirked at his son.
Your "relationship" was fairly new, it had only been about a month since the kiss and you both had gotten slightly bolder since then. Not like much changed comparatively, you were usually very affectionate with Robin but now there were pecks and kisses shared when you met and before you parted.
Breaks in the middle of training were spent with Robin peppering kisses underneath your ear while you laughed and tried to wiggle away from him. After working out, you’d be in each other’s arms even though you both were sweating horribly.
And strangely enough, the thing that made your heart flutter the most were the stolen glances and the secret touches when the others were in the same room.
You weren't exactly saying it out loud and it was probably why most of the team had no idea. Well, you say most but Robin already secretly confided in Wally, and you just couldn't resist squealing to the girls about it.
So basically, Conner and Kaldur had no idea.
Well, Conner certainly had no idea.
Your mother had no idea either, considering you weren't speaking. She was still upset that you were trying to follow her footsteps and put yourself in danger this way, but you were trying to reason with her.
Now that she was slowly coming through and accepting the idea that you want to do this to avenge your friends, you were starting to think that maybe you want to continue being a hero even after this is all over.
Which only brings up your avoidance of the topic whenever your mom tries to get you to promise that you'll stop when the murderer is caught.
And then it escalates into an argument about how you are never satisfied with whatever freedom she has given you.
Your mom used to be your comfort and shade during difficult days. Call you a mommy's girl but you were oddly attached to her, and you had a stronger bond than any of the other members on the team had with their own parents. Maybe because you spent most of your years on Themiscyra when you should have been making friends.
Your mother was the most familiar and comfortable face among the island, considering that most of them were much older than you. You would spend a long day training or just going for a swim or a hike before coming back to your mother's embrace, both of you tanned and smiling brightly.
Now everything was just going wrong, and you were avoiding your mother to stop another argument. It had never been like this before. Yes, you fought from time to time and disagreed, but it always ended in a compromise.
This time only, you couldn't compromise.
Once the team cleared out and it was only you and Robin left in the briefing room, you couldn't help the teasing smile on your face, "Eager, are we?"
His cheeks went red from embarrassment that he couldn't control himself in front of his dad. God, he was going to hear about it back home and it was going to be so awkward, he'd consider jumping off a building. Alfred was still teasing about him cancelling last minute for prom.
You made your way to where he had hopped up on the table, and pecked his nose quickly, "You're too cute for your own good."
Embarrassed, he buried his head into your shoulder, hands coming to rest at your waist and whined. You chuckled, hugging him tightly before pulling away with a giddy smile, "I, for one, am excited for our first date."
A smirk made its way onto his face, and you were wondering what happened in the split second where he went from being bashful to this, "So, this is a date, huh?"
You pulled away, "If you don't want it to be then I guess—"
"No, no, I want it to be!" He recovered immediately, grabbing your elbows and pulling you back to him. You chuckled when his feet anchored the back of your knees and held you against him.
"I'll get the picnic." He said and you grinned brightly, "What do I bring?"
"Just your cute self."
***
Dick tried very hard to pretend that he didn't just go to Wally of all people for relationship advice. Everything was pretty much perfect between the two of you right now; you were always in sync, you always had something to talk about even though you spent so much time together.
Talking to Wally before going on your date was a bad idea considering he has said time and time again that he has no idea how he and Artemis even got together. Dick lamented even stopping by his room at all, considering the hot food in the picnic basket was getting colder and soggier by the second and the cold drinks were getting warmer.
Wally was absolutely useless, just telling him to lay on the charm when essentially this date was about to be chaperoned by two Justice League members.
Stupid Wally.
When he got to the Zeta platform, he realized that his heart was beating faster than he expected it to. So fast, that the fitness tracker on his wrist that was directly connected to the Bat Computer beeped, signalling that Dick had reached his target heart rate and that Alfred would find out about his first date jitters very soon.
Stupid Watch.
You were leaning over the railing of the platform, back facing him and if he was thinking like he usually would, he would've snuck up behind you and scared the living daylights out of you. But his brain seemed to be a step behind today, so he just cleared his throat.
You turned around with your hair looking all pretty, in a bright yellow sundress and an even brighter smile.
Your heart was beating out of your chest, and you mentally scolded yourself. You were used to spending time with Robin, you were comfortable with him but something about this being an "official" first date had you glitching.
You wore a dress to help with the amount of stress sweating you were doing even though you had to shave everything in the shower that afternoon and then put sunblock everywhere. It was probably why your skin was glistening like you were rubbed with butter. Ugh, you looked awful.
But Robin thought you looked damn gorgeous.
He stepped up to you, a few feet away from the zeta tube when he noticed you were holding something behind your back. For a split second he thought it was a gun before he was reminded that you were literally the sweetest person to ever roam the earth and berated himself.
You blushed, pulling out the bouquet of yellow tulips that you were hiding from his sight, "I got you flowers."
Well, technically M'Gann got them but same thing.
"So that we'd match." You added, pointing to the flowers on your sundress and he smiled. You switched what you were holding so that the picnic basket was in your hand and the bouquet was in his, leaving your other hand free so he could intertwine your fingers.
"You know that the second we step out of this tube we're gonna be monitored like lab rats, right?"
"Ugh, can't wait."
***
"Oh Charlie Puth. No doubt." You said definitively, taking a bite of the shawarma that Alfred had packed for the picnic. For a British man, he made it exceptionally well. The garlic sauce was just tying it all together so deliciously.
"What?! You mean to tell me that if I found your fourth-grade notebook, it would have (Y/N) Puth written all over it?" Robin asked exasperatedly and you giggled.
"And I'm not even sorry about it. I still think he's damn adorable."
That was true. Charlie Puth was one of the reasons you had a thing for brunettes, after getting over a particularly bad obsession for blonde boys. And that little notch in his brow was so cute.
"There's no way you'd be able to guess mine though." He mused and you turned to watch him with a critical eye before coming to your conclusion.
"Gabriella Montez." His eyes widened under the shades, and he sat up.
"What?! How did you know?!"
"Ya basic."
*
"And the chandelier crashed, and all the crystals exploded." Robin told you while you tried to drink your soda. Keyword being tried considering he was making you laugh so hard that it had more than once gone down the wrong pipe.
"You are such a menace! Poor Alfred!"
"Come on, you can't tell me you've never done anything like that?" He sassed and you leaned against the tree you were sitting beneath, thinking of a scenario that resembled his. You were quite the troublemaker when you were younger, being stuck on an island with hundreds of mother figures automatically made you the devil of the lot.
"Well, there was a time when I was a toddler that I accidentally locked my mother out on the balcony?" You recalled her telling you the story once, "She was drying out the clothes and I closed the door behind her."
"That's not a big deal, she could just jump up from there or break open the door." He dismissed, lying on his back beside you. You chuckled and reached over to tousle his hair. He shivered at the chill of your hand from when you were holding the cold can.
"Well, she didn't want to explain to our landlord how the balcony door suddenly got destroyed and she couldn't exactly jump when we were living on one of the busiest streets in DC." You giggled, trying to imagine the scenario. You obviously didn’t remember but you pictured it being pretty funny even though your mother was probably panicking at the thought of you being all alone in the apartment where anything could happen.
She always was a paranoid parent.
"So, picture Wonder Woman, standing from the 3rd story of a pretty tiny building with a toddler left unattended in the apartment, just screaming at the top of her lungs and trying to alert someone and get the landlord to open the door."
Robin smiled at that, his dorky glasses catching the sunlight in a bad angle and nearly blinding you. The bark of the tree was digging into your skin, and you shuffled forward to avoid it, making sure the jacket that Robin laid across your lap stayed in place so you could move comfortably without worrying about flashing someone.
"And you called me a menace."
"You know what cartoon that reminds me of?"
"Dennis the Menace."
"Exactly!" You beamed, gazing down at where he lay in your lap.
*
"Okay it's been 3 hours of me listening to Robin trying to convince you that Charlie Puth isn't as cute as you think he is." Came Green Arrow's voice over the com set. Surprised, you looked at your watch to realize he was right, it had been nearly 5 hours on the date, and you had yet to be interrupted by a murderer.
Robin had gotten a red alert about 20 minutes ago for a mission that he would have to miss. The others had probably already left, so did the other League member for another mission, leaving Green Arrow to wrap things up.
You began packing your stuff up, the poor blanket that had been shielding you from the wet grass for hours was all dirty and covered in mud. You hoped it wouldn't stain.
"Why were you listening though?" Robin asked and you nodded, wondering about it yourself.
It was silent for a while.
"I wanted to know just how he could justify Charlie Puth not being cute." Came a bashful response and you turned to Robin with a smirk, who looked like someone had just stepped on his grave to take a picture with his tombstone.
"I told you, everyone loves the eyebrow notch."
"Well joke's on you, GA, Canary said she thinks Bruce Wayne is a fox." Even though he practically gagged saying the sentence, it was totally worth it when he heard the flabbergasted shout of the older man through the com set. You nuzzled into his jacket that he insisted you put on once it started to get a little windy, giggling at the mischievous smirk on his face.
You chuckled, "Menace."
He stole a quick peck, grabbing the picnic basket from your hand and before you knew it, the bouquet you had gifted him was back in your hands, "That I am."
***
“Sorry, you had to miss out on the mission to get me back here.” You said, only half apologetic because you had so much fun with him today. Robin spared you a smile, telling you it was no big deal, and you squeezed his hand in response. The both of you had just zeta-ed back and GA had joined the other members for a mission. It was only the two of you left behind in the cave.
“Thanks for taking me out to check if I was still a murder target.” You grinned, stopping in your tracks to kiss his cheek.
Robin chuckled, “Thanks for not getting murdered.
“You’re very welcome.”
The moment was unfortunately interrupted by a beep from his watch, and you looked over curiously to see a mission alert flash. Your brows furrowed, another mission alert? The team had already left for a reported terrorist attack in India and so did most of the League members for a reported attack by Amazo in Kenya.
The two of you were the only ones left.
“Do you usually get so many mission alerts in a day?”
He turned to you with an apprehensive frown, “No, usually so many missions in a day means that somehow someone knew about it.”
He pulled up the alert onto the holo-computer and your eyes widened at the report. A bomb was counting down at the Arkham detention facility where Valerie’s killer was being held. It was stated that the police were in the process of evacuating everyone within the radius of the explosive, but the bomb squad were unable to proceed. You wondered why that was.
Robin turned to you with a firm look, “One minute to suit up. Meet me by the zeta tubes.”
You nodded.
***
The place was in chaos, one would have thought the bomb already went off. The detention centre was flashing red lights and had a blaring alarm, alerting everyone to run out. The police and fire department were outside, getting people into squad cars and evacuating them to a safe distance.
“There are other criminals locked in, but we can’t open the doors.” Said the police officer, “The doors are reinforced, and our battering rams won’t get through.”
You nodded, running through the halls and to the detention and interrogation rooms with a squad following the both of you. Your heart was thrumming through your chest as you rammed your shoulder against the door, slamming it open with brute strength and letting the officers guide the criminals away.
You kicked another door in, noticing that this criminal was handcuffed to the interrogation table and yanked on the chain so hard it crumbled. It took a few minutes to get all the other doors open while Robin hacked into the computer system and tried to disable the locking mechanisms.
When you got to the final door, the muffled sound of the bomb beeping got slightly louder, and you nudged Robin behind you before kicking down the door. Inside the room, strapped to a chair in a straitjacket was Thelma, looking even worse since you last saw her. Her hair was dirty and frizzy. Her face looked sunken and haggard and the glasses resting on her nose were cracked.
But when she saw you and Robin, she grinned widely. Through her skin, you could see a faint red light flashing and your eyes widened. The bomb was inside her. And there was no telling when it would explode.
“Get out of here! It’s going to go off!” You shouted to the officers, who took your word and began evacuating, telling the firefighters and police officers to take as many civilians as possible and bystanders and get them out of the area.
Robin and you rushed to Thelma and ripped off her restraints before you gripped her by her throat, “How to shut it off?!”
She grinned madly, eyes unfocused like she hadn’t even heard you, “Just the two I was expecting. I have a little gift for you.”
Dick’s heart pounded through his ears with panic. He had alerted the rest of the league before leaving but it seemed that none of them were responding, busy with their own missions. There was no telling what kind of bomb this was and how to get to it. He didn’t know when it was going to go off and if the civilians had made a safe distance away from the explosion radius. This was going to end badly.
“How to turn it off?!” You shouted, shaking her shoulders frantically but her head just lolled lifelessly, still grinning at you sickly and you swallowed the bile that was crawling up your throat.
“My gift. I have a gift for you both.” She babbled, drooling slightly from the corner of her mouth and you breathed heavily, trying to find a solution but coming up naught. There was nothing you could do to get the bomb out of her and if you stayed any longer, there was a large chance you’d end up leaving the planet along with her.
The beeping of the bomb picked up in frequency and you both exchanged a panicked look. Even though it felt wrong, you left Thelma where she was sitting on the chair before you rammed against the barred window of her cell and it shattered into a million pieces, some sinking into your skin, and you whimpered before both you and Robin jumped from the building.
With an arm around your waist, he used his grappling hook to help you both land before you took off into a run. You didn’t even leave the enclosure of the building before the explosion went off and in instinct, you covered Robin with your body as the building crumbled.
Luckily you were far enough that the large debris didn’t directly hit you, instead it fell a short distance to the ground, and you were pelted with multiple tiny pebbles that exploded in a chaos. Any larger pieces that headed for you were either destroyed with his exploding birdarang or smashed into dust by you.
There was another loud sequence of beeps and you turned to each other in alarm, scared another bomb was about to go off.
And it did, except instead of a building exploding, it was like someone set off a confetti canon.
From the sky, slips of paper began raining down and you snatched one from the air, gasping when you realized what was in your hand. Your stomach turned and you felt your lunch crawl up your throat. Your hands were shaking, unintentionally crumbling it in your grip. The papers fell to the ground around you, the images and words drawn on it was taunting the both of you.
A tarot.
With the word ‘Megara’ scrawled across it in blood red.
Trembling, you raised your eyes to meet Robin’s who was equally shaken. So, this was the gift that Thelma was talking about. The gift that she had died to give you.
Only, which one of you was the tarot meant for?
***
In Greek mythology, Megara was the oldest daughter of Creon, king of Thebes. Megara was offered by her father to Hercules because he defended Thebes. She was killed Hercules in his madness caused by Hera.

Dick Grayson is definitely a PTA mom. Does he have the time or mental energy for it? No. Is he at every meeting anyways? You bet.

Death To The Family Name
by PlatitudinalTeen One father mourns the loss of his son & another celebrates his return after faking his death. I would never hurt you." Bloodlines (1 of 3)
After receiving a vague warning from his mother about his cousin and Richard, Damian goes looking for his runaway ward.
This chapter started as a flashback in the latter half of the story, but I felt like it was running on too long so I decided to cut it out and make it its own chapter. As such the events of this chapter occur a little under five years before the events of the main story, which takes place a few months after “Family Weekend.”
Part of Batkid and Robin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Damian was surprised to see Nightwing in the Hatch when he arrived. He knew his ex-partner noticed his entrance, but the Super didn’t look up from the conversation he was having with Señal in the doorway to the infirmary.
Taking the hint, Damian turned to E-ko. “What happened?”
“We’re not entirely sure. Izzy and I were both in class and Dax was at work when Dick’s distress beacon went off so only Duke and Dre responded,” she said, glancing towards the infirmary. “By my estimate, they sent out the request for backup almost immediately after they engaged. Nightwing had been finishing up something with Metro across the bay so he responded. Izzy and I were suiting up when ‘Wing dragged them in. He thinks they were fighting talons when he got there, but the guys took off as soon as he got close. Dre was already knocked out -- drugged we think -- and Duke passed out on the way here -- bloodloss.”
“Richard?”
“Your son wasn’t there,” Nightwing said as he and Señal approached. “I didn’t know he was involved until I got here and the girls filled me in.”
“He’s not -” Damian closed his eyes and asked, “Did Signal say anything before he passed out?”
“He slurred something about Cobb and Halloway and I think he tried to say something else, but he was fading fast at that point. Didn’t recognize either name, but I’m not surprised since this seems to be Gotham stuff.”
“Nightwing.”
“Batman.”
Damian glared up at neon blue eyes. “We’re not doing this while Richard is missing.”
“Well, I guess I’ll just stay quiet then. Not sure I have anything to add since I don’t even know the kid.”
The only reaction Damian allowed himself to have was to clench his fists as he turned to Señal. “If the talons are involved, then Cobb is William Cobb. Why would he be after Richard though? The Court has only ever targeted adults for kills and street kids for would-be talons. A child from a prominent family doesn’t fit their M.O.”
“We’re not sure,” she said. “Oracle’s looking into it. In the meantime, Selina’s pulling Stephanie and Jason out of school in case they’re targeting Wayne kids. Cass and Mia are also going to bunker down somewhere safe with Tim if they can drag him away from wherever he is now on his mental breakdown road trip.”
“Don’t call it that.”
The group turned to see Duke slumped against his IV pole in the infirmary’s doorway.
“¡Bobo! Lay back down!” Señal snapped, rushing over to him.
He let his girlfriend take his weight, but didn’t let her drag him back to bed. His chest and arms were heavily bandaged and butterfly stitches were keeping a few cuts on his cheek and neck closed. He was also glaring at Señal. “Lay off Tim.”
“Sorry, I know you want to humor him.”
Duke shook his head and turned to Damian. “We’ve got a problem.”
“I know. We’ll find Richard. Go -”
“No, you don’t understand. Halloway was there. From DCF.”
It took Damian a moment, but he put the name to the face. Cathy Halloway was one of the social workers that gave him the hardest time while trying to foster Richard, but not one of the ones who’d earned his respect because they thought Damian was taking Richard in on a whim. He wasn’t sure if it was Richard’s Romani heritage she had a problem with or if it was the fact Richard was white-passing while Damian had very clearly taken after his mother, but the family had dug up a few comments made by her about keeping Richard “with his own people.”
As if the Gotham branch of the DCF had placed Richard with a family instead of in a detention center.
Backward morals aside, the Bat’s investigation hadn’t turned up anything tying her to the court. “Why was she there?”
The Hatch’s main computer lit up green, announcing Oracle’s presence. “Because Cobb told her he was Dick’s grandfather.”
“What?” Damian asked. Richard didn’t have any living relatives, the Bats checked as had DCF at the Waynes’ insistence. “Why would she believe that?”
“I’m looking into it, but she’s started the paperwork to transfer custody and she was there to help Cobb pull Dick out of school. Selina played it off like she was picking Dick up alongside Steph and Jay then went full PTA mom when she found out they’d sent Dick off with strangers. Alfred’s bringing the little Bats to you while she puts the staff through the wringer to get as much info for us as she can. I’m trying to match our maps of the Court’s labyrinth to what little information from Dick’s beacon is making it through the scramblers so, hopefully, I’ll have a location by the time you’re all suited up.”
Damian made a mental note to bring his own version of hell down on the staff if any of them survived his Step-Mother’s fury then focused back on the matter at hand. “Señal, you know the labyrinth best. Can you see if you can help Oracle? I’ll get Duke back in bed.”
She nodded and passed Duke off to him after giving her boyfriend a quick kiss.
“Sorry, Dames,” Duke said as Damian helped him back onto the medical cot. “The talons cut us off before we could get anywhere near Dick or Cobb.”
“You did your best. We know what we’re facing now. We’ll bring him home, no matter how many talons we have to freeze. Get some rest.”
Duke nodded and leaned back.
Damian returned to the main room and approached E-ko and Nightwing. He asked the latter, “Are you staying?”
The Super gave a sardonic smile. “I guess I should get going. Don’t want to overstay my welcome. Call me if you think the situation is bad enough to need outside help.”
“That’s not what -” Damian started, but Nightwing was already gone. He sighed and turned to E-ko. “Has the Court been up to anything recently that could explain coming after Richard?”
She shook her head. “They’ve been quiet since we reclaimed that youth shelter they were using to try and lure in would-be talons. We knew they’d try to find a new way to bring in kids, and trying to get their hooks in the foster system isn’t too far out there if they don’t realize we’ve been keeping a close eye on it ever since Jason, but going after someone as notable as Dick doesn’t make sense.”
“There has to be a reason.”
“Who cares, let’s just get out there and find Dickie!” Jason called as he stomped into the Hatch. He and Stephanie came towards them while Alfred went off to check on the two in the infirmary.
“Knowing why a person is doing something is very important,” Damian said and Jason scowled.
“It’s not more important than rescuing my Red Bird! Let’s go!” he snapped, shoving Damian towards the changing rooms.
“Rushing in is going to get you in trouble,” Damian huffed, but let his younger brother push him along with Stephanie trailing after.
The three quickly changed into the extra suits they kept in the Hatch in case of emergency then they, Señal, and E-ko set off towards the labyrinth entrance closest to the approximate location Señal and Oracle had decided on.
Batman took the lead, keeping an eye out for danger as Señal directed him through the tunnels. Thankfully the closer they got, the more accurate the beacon's positioning became. He was keeping a sharp eye on everything, looking for the booby traps and talons, so he immediately noticed when Señal and E-ko began to share worried looks.
“What?”
“There aren’t any mazes, meeting halls, or holding cells this way,” E-ko said. “The only things down here are…”
“Labs and cryo-caskets,” Señal finished.
“Shit!”
Batman grabbed Batkid before he could race ahead. “Hold on.”
“Hold on? I’m not going to wait around while those psychos turn Red Bird into one of those monsters!” the boy snarled, then took off down the tunnel.
“They wouldn’t start the process so soon,” E-ko tried to reassure as the four chased after him. “They always start training before beginning the Electrum injections. They want to be sure the investment would be worth it.”
A shadow slid out of a side tunnel and Batman grabbed the edge of Batkid’s cloak. He yanked the boy back just in time for the talon’s dagger to cut through the air in front of his face instead of across his throat.
E-ko intercepted the assassin with her cryo-gun as Señal repelled another two with her chain whip.
“Go find Grayson. We’ll deal with these ones,” E-ko called out and Batman nodded.
He led Batkid and Batgirl forward, bringing up Richard’s distress beacon on his gauntlet computer. They raced up to a heavy door that he quickly kicked in once confirming it was locked.
Inside, scientists and talons stood over an operating bed that held a teary eleven-year-old. Thick leather straps wrapped around Richard’s arms, legs, and chest to keep him pinned to the bed. A scientist had been preparing an iv filled with a dark silver liquid while William Cobb had leaned over Richard with his hand fisted in the boy’s hair, but all eyes turned to the Bats at their entrance.
Batkid immediately launched himself at the scientists, ripping the one closest to Richard away from him and laying into them with a fury. Batgirl and Batman tossed liquid nitrogen pellets at the talons, partially encasing three of them in ice to put them into hibernation. Batgirl engaged another two talons while Batman tackled Cobb.
“You must be getting desperate for new talons if you’re starting to steal children from Gotham’s old families, Talon.” Batman ducked one knife strike, deflected another, then landed a blow that snapped Cobb’s arm with a loud crack.
“Wayne was the one who stole him,” Cobb spat, disengaging just long enough for the Electrum to twist his bones back into place before slashing at Batman’s neck. “The Gray Son was born and raised to serve the Court of Owls. Just as his grandfather, my son, was before him.”
Batman shifted back in time for the claws aiming for his ribs to cut through nothing more than armor. “Emil Grayson was a circus acrobat.”
“Emil was raised by Nathaniel Haley to be the perfect talon, just as I was. Had Nathaniel not passed before he could return my son or instruct his own in the ways of the Court, then Emil would have surpassed even me. Instead, that fool Cameron spirited my son away to Europe. By the time the Court could reforge ties with the circus, my son was lost to us while my grandson had been raised weak and the Court had no influence over him. We could only ensure that the child he bore would receive the proper training and be returned to Gotham when the time came.”
Batman felt sick. He wanted to deny it, but Cobb had no reason to lie and the Bats hadn’t bothered to look that far into Richard’s family’s past. “The Graysons’ deaths…”
“Not the Court’s work, though it provided us with an opportunity to place the boy somewhere we could have full influence over him.”
He’d never felt better about rescuing Richard from that awful detention center. He fought down a smirk that would be both telling and uncharacteristic for Batman as he slammed his foot into Cobb’s chest, audibly breaking a few ribs. “But Wayne took him instead.”
From his place on the ground, Cobb pulled off his mask to spit out discolored blood then glared up at Batman. “It doesn’t matter. The boy is destined for the Court. Whether now or later, the Gray Son of Gotham will be a talon.”
“Never,” Batman growled, freezing the talon with a liquid nitrogen pellet.
When he turned back to the room at large, Batgirl was taking down her opponents while Batkid had tied up the scientists and was pulling off the straps. Batman went to help the boys, pulling Richard into his arms as soon as he was free. The ladies agreed to handle the talons and scientists so Batman and Batkid could get Richard up to the surface where Oracle had police cars and an ambulance waiting.
Once they were out of the labyrinth and away from any cameras the Court may have had, but before they reached the authorities, Dick pressed his face into Batman’s neck. “Dami.”
“I’m here, Dick.”
“Th-that man, he said…”
Batman tightened his grip on his ward. “I know, but I’ve got you now and I promise, the Court won’t ever touch you again.”
Richard wrapped his arms around his neck and Damian quickly ran his fingers through the black-brown curls before Batman stepped out of the shadows and passed Richard off for a paramedic to check him over.
