WRITERS NEEDED
Hello hello!
Since you last heard from us, we've been busy bees, working on outlines, storyboards, and even an animatic! Stuff is getting done, things are being made, and we're having a fun time!
Unfortunately, one of our writers is unable to help out as they were, so along with the hole in our hearts, there's a hole in our crew...
Which means we need more people! Again!
We're looking to capture one or two more writers into our nifty team to help out with scripts, worldbuilding, and possible character designs!
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, contact us here:
Another thing, if you're good at making music or sound mixing, there might be a place for you as well!
Any interest in the project is a delight to see, even if you don't plan on joining!
Thank you!

Hello there! Either you've already watched the video, or you're planning to, but I thank you for taking the time to explore it at all.
Welcome to Psychomachia! It's a working title, but what we're using for now. The project was made during the making of this video, which is why it isn't mentioned.
This project sprouted on Sep 20, 2022. Since then, Aspen and I have been shooting ideas back and forth, experimenting with music, and exchanging varying media of character design, if that makes sense.
Here are the character sheets, if you'd like to get a better look at them. https://docs.google.com/document/d/11H8oL_xQPn06hSjIWRQRLTiVakg1Crejn02n_Gu31uE/edit?usp=sharing
In the afterlife, if you're an angel, you can choose from a few career paths; you can guard people and protect them from harm in times of need, you can take quick jobs "possessing" them to do something extraordinary, or you can take up a lifelong contract to watch over them and try to shape them into the best person they can be!
If you're a demon, you can guide people during times of need as well— to worse things. And you can possess them, but this is rarely taken seriously, so demons usually just have fun with this. AND you can take up a lifelong contract trying to get people to be the crappiest person they can be!
With the demons' focus on population control, they're constantly opposing the angels, whose goal is the exact opposite. That's why nobody ever thought that a demon and an angel could be in a relationship, let alone have a child. Stories— cautionary tales are told to children about the horrific creature this would unleash upon the world, but then it happened.
And when that child comes of age, how in the entire heck is he supposed to be employable?
If that sounds of interest to you, you can contact either me or Aspen in one of the places shown below, if the video passed you too fast.

Austin Lee’s uses a combination of technology and traditional artistic techniques to create work in a variety of mediums for Psychomachia, his latest exhibition at Jeffrey Deitch. The saturated colors in his paintings (and the blue of the center sculpture) make them eye catching, while his subject matter creates, at times, a feeling of unease.
From the gallery-
Austin Lee knows how to render human emotion. Through a unique process that has defined his career, Lee explores human psychology and emotions by integrating software technologies with traditional methods of artmaking to produce vibrant paintings, sculptures and video works. Psychomachia marks Lee’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles in eight years and third exhibition with Jeffrey Deitch.
Lee’s work explores the hyperreality of social media and the internet, and, in this exhibition, he continues to explore the complexity of human connection that can be refracted through our digital age. He uses 3-D and virtual reality software to make drawings that are then painted on canvases with airbrush or fabricated in materials like resin and bronze. Lee turns inward and examines his own raw emotions through saturated hues and uncanny images.
The exhibition also draws inspiration from a transformative visit Lee made to the Giotto Chapel in Padua, Italy, where he was inspired by painted scenes from the 14th-century poem Psychomachia by Prudentius. The poem, which depicts the allegorical battle between virtues and vices for control over the human soul, served as an important source for several paintings in the exhibition. Some paintings show imagery that is directly pulled from the Chapel’s walls, while other paintings are quiet references to familiar symbols, like animals and families. Lion with Blue Eyes (2024), for example, conjures feelings of valiance and strength, whereas In Bed (2024) invites visitors to participate in a more unsettling sensation– the feeling of being vulnerable or being under surveillance.
Central to the exhibition space is Blue Fountain (2022-2024), Lee’s fountain sculpture that was previously exhibited in his solo museum exhibition at the Lotte Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea in September 2023.
The mezzanine features a series of new video works that continue to explore surveilled environments and the disquieting feelings in the paintings. The animated figures ogle at the viewer from the same viewpoint as reflected in In Bed. It is common for Lee to build upon previous works, placing them in a rich, multidimensional visual world through rendering them in different media.
This exhibition is on view until 10/26/24.

another chapter in my tale of woe that is just not vibing w any of Online's beloved media franchises but: in these weeks of boring ass busy work i keep checking out these hugely popular dnd podcasts and youtube shows and so on, and putting aside my immense personal incompatibility with the genres (most podcasts, ttrpgs, really any form of game video or board) one thing i am very interested by is how remarkably limited their storytelling is because everyone involved has way too much millennial compunction to ever do anything wicked or beastly as a character choice in a fictional universe. remarkable overloaded fantasy world full of humor and opportunity you've created dude! would be a shame if everyone in it had a heart of gold.
like you can get me to try anything out if you promise me it's funny and if i am nosy enough, because having a giggle is my primary motivator. but i just saw a youtube short where brendan lee mulligan was like, "yeah this whole game was designed as like, they're all villains fighting against each other and it culminates in a battle royale except that they spent the whole episode being super nice to each other and declaring love and bonding so it just couldn't happen" and i was like whoa dude! doesn't this game famously let you make characters whose primary traits are like Evil

"Burginda’s letter is instructing the young man in his spiritual endeavours, and the contents of the (albeit short) letter reveal that she was highly educated and well-read. Written in a period that many still refer to erroneously as an intellectual ‘Dark Ages’, Burginda’s letter uses Greek words, utilises biblical exegesis, imitates Christian poetry like the fifth-century Psychomachia of Prudentius, and references both the sixth-century Italian poet Arator and the classical Roman poet Virgil. It also contains a reworking of a description of heaven found in a Latin poem from Africa that dates to c. 500. Burginda was clearly a very well-read intellectual.
This letter can be used as an example to refute many popular misconceptions about the early middle ages. The first misconception is that antique texts were neglected or unknown in this period. The second misconception is that medieval women were uneducated and unintellectual. The third misconception is that there was little or no intellectual transmission between Africa and Europe in this period. Burginda’s letter proves all these assumptions false. Not bad for two paragraphs of Latin."

Superbat Week 2024 Fic Recs
Day 7: Free Day!!! Superbat? | Superbat! | Superbat.
I kind of went a bit crazy for this fic rec list since today is a Free Day for the event. I just went through my bookmarks and picked out a lot of my favorites :) Enjoy!
we shall be free; we shall find peace by mediant @blorb-el - WIP. This fic makes me Unwell (in a good way!). Instead of being raised by the Kents, the worst case scenario happens and a young Clark is taken from them and raised to be a weapon by Luthor. Kon is created and Clark gets the chance to raise him as well. Mind the tags!
mission parameters by shipyrds @burins - Complete. For a diplomatic Justice League mission, Bruce and Clark have to pretend to be a married couple on an alien planet. Feelings are developed and shenanigans of the emotional kind ensue.
An Honest Conversation by frozenpotions @froizetta - Complete. Friends to lovers, but make them take the long way around. I really, really enjoyed the final two chapters. Read and find out why!
FairyTAILS and Magic by bellninja28 - Complete. This fic was recced to me in the Superbat Week 2024 discord server a few months ago, and I'm SO GLAD it was. The Justice League go to a planet to help out. The superpowered heroes get a bit depowered (like Clark!), while the lone human hero, Batman, gets turned into a sexy, sexy centaur. Shenanigans ensue.
slow dancing in the dark by scarletazure - Complete. This fic holds a specially place in my heart because one of the updates happened when I drove over 11 hours home for Christmas. It was a lovely little treat for being in a car that long. Anyway, Bruce and Clark get some temporary amnesia and hook up. And then they get there memories back. Shenanigans ensue.
Bells win ring, the sun will shine by psychomachia - Complete. Krypton doesn't survive, but there are more survivors than Kal-el that make it to Earth for refuge. Waller thinks they are up to something in Las Vagas and asks Bruce to check it out as Brucie. A drunken Vegas marriage ensues between Bruce and Kal-El, among other shenanigans.
Patroclus by widow_account - Complete. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE fics where Bruce is the damsel in distress. In this fic though, it's Clark who is the damsel in need of saving by Bruce. And he gets kidnapped to War World. So, so good and so many feels.
As We Grow by butterflyslinky - Complete. A cute Cinderella inspired story where Clark is a poor farmer in debt to Luthor and Bruce is the prince (with many children).
A kindred bond by Nyszu - WIP. Bruce is kidnapped by an evil Superman from another universe. The Justice League rescues him, but he (and Clark) have a lot of mental issues to deal with from the whole ordeal.
don't know the rules but i got to win by susiecarter @susiecarter - Complete. One of the craziest xenobio Clark fics I have read and I loved every word of it. Involves Bruce accidentally listening to Krytonian erotica and some sexy, sexy farming.
Just A Little Bit... by HaleHathNoFury (My_Trex_has_fleas) @halehathnofury - WIP. Do you like Clark being a weird alien? Do you like Bruce being a weird eldritch being? Do you like the robins being magic users? Do you also like clown and plant lesbians? If you do, oh boy is this the fic for you!!!!
Masking by BombusBombus @bombusbombus - Complete. This is another fic that makes me Unwell, and I rec it whenever I get the chance. It examines the masks that Bruce and Clark wear when being Batman and Superman, Brucie and Reporter Clark, and who they are when they find someone they feel comfortable around to take all of those masks off and be themselves.
The Problem With Clark Kent by vectacular @lenreli - Complete. Clark returns from War World, moves in with Bruce, and makes him experience all sorts of Thoughts and Feelings.
Talk Science To Me by profoundalpacakitten @profoundalpacakitten - Complete. Because of his indestructible nature, Clark has problems being intimate with others. Bruce wants to fix this using the power of science. Lots and Lots of science. Insert meme of Clark saying "I better not awaken anything in me" meme (it does).
pull out the pin by TheResurrectionist @frownyalfred - Complete. The Justice League get stranded on what looks like an empty planet. It is not and Bruce gets possessed by an alien life form. Clark defeats with the power of Love™.
The Valley of the Shadows by FabulaRasa - Complete. Bruce gets diagnosed with a terminal illness and goes through the rough treatment for it. Clark helps. It's still rough. Many emotions ensue.
over this threshold by orphean - Complete. Bruce and Clark get married for the best reason of all, tax benefits. And maybe along the way they fall in love.
My Own Desert Places by MemoryDragon @memorydragon - Complete. I love this fic with my whole heart. I remember reading it the first time and crying my eyes out at certain parts (you'll know when you get to them) because I identified with the what the characters were going through. Anyway, Batman is outed as ace and deals with media fall out. Clark is there to help.
Happy reading!

ANIMATORS NEEDED
Hello!
Though you may have heard, since we've been advertising it constantly for the past while, we are working on an original cartoon project called Psychomachia!
A few things you need to know: first of all, this project is UNPAID. While we understand this can make it seem unappealing to someone more experienced, we hope that this can be an opportunity to learn and grow, and especially to have fun!
So far, we have a writer, a storyboard artist, two colorists, and six voice actors for the main cast! Unfortunately, animating is a process with a lot of moving parts (literally), so we're going to need some more people for that.
Before we get into that, we want to show you a bit of what we've been working on, so you can get a feel for the project!
Here's a bit of the storyboard, done by the wonderful @Aspen67!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very cool, right? :D
So, if you clicked "keep reading," we can assume that means your interest is piqued. Good!
Now, let me tell you a little about what the story is about.
Our story follows Israel; A Nephalem born of an angel and a demon, a.k.a., his parents: Paul and Persephone.
In the afterlife, there are multiple jobs to chose from, but the toughest and most fulfilling is the role of an Id or Superego (working titles). Their job is to guide the person they're assigned to to a path of righteousness...
Or a path of deviance...
Being a Nephalem, Israel has a tough time getting a job--- and when he finally does, he's assigned to a very not good little girl named Rebecca.
Sound fun?
If you made it this far, we can assume you're at least somewhat interested, right?
While we're also looking for people to work on music and sound design, our main focus right now is animation. There are a few specific roles that need filling that we'd like to focus on for now.
For all
It would be good if you have:
experience with digital drawing (it doesn’t have to be much – you hold a pen in your hand a few times – you’re good!)
a program that that allows you to save images in png. format
discord for communication
AND a passion for animation combined with good vibes only :D
And for specific roles...
LINEARTIST
Your part in the project:
You'll receive an animatic with keyframes and rough in-betweens. Your job will be to make the lineart of all moving parts (mostly people).
It would be good if you have:
- smooth, consistent lines
- the ability to maintain a consistent art style between frames
- and the ability to imitate other styles (you don't have to be a copy machine!)
BACKGROUND ARTIST
Your part in the project:
You’ll get sketches of a BG and your job will be to turn them into a rendered BG art piece, that can by used directly in the final animation.
It would be good if you have:
a basic understanding of perspective, light and shadow and colors
different parts of BG on separate layers/images saved (so we can move them in post if needed ^^)
COLORIST (SHADING)
Your part in the project:
You’ll get colored drawings with a BG and your job will be to set characters in the scene by placing shadows and reflections in the right places.
It would be good if you have:
a basic understanding of shadows and lights
the ability to feel the mood of each shot and transfer it into the animation
REVISIONIST
Your part in the project:
You’ll be shown the animatic and then the final animation; and what we want you to do is to look for mistakes – in consistency between the frames, in perspective, and other things, etc – and then suggest options on how to fix them.
It would be good if you have:
some experience in animation and a basic understanding of every part of it (so you know how it basically works)
the ability to make clear notes about mistakes you’ve found
enough confidence to share your opinion on things!
Wowza!
Of course, there can be more than one person for each role, one person dabbling in multiple roles, etc. We need people and will fit them where we can, if you choose to join.
If you ARE interested, you can contact us at any one of these places:
Casting Call Club
Or Tumblr DMs!
We hope to see you soon! :)

Happy Thursday! Have a list of some of my favourite underrated Apollo factoids!
Father of the Lapiths (and by extension the Centaurs)! While Chiron wasn't Apollo's by birth, an alternate telling of the genesis of centaurs did place Apollo as their father when his lover Stilbe bore him twin sons - Lapithes and Centaurus. Much like the more popular version of the centaurs' genesis which has them as an analogue for wild and untempered desire, this version also features the centaurs causing chaos - both by choosing to mate with the wild mares of the mountainside which resulted in their half man-half horse appearance and by causing a terrible uproar during a wedding ceremony (which, of course, is an alternate telling of the centauromachy wherein Apollo himself comes to quell the wedding quarrel as opposed to Heracles) There's a whole great deal of psychomachia embedded in the opposing of the centaurs with humanity and I've always loved this version due to the way it highlights that centaurs do have the same capability for good that humans do as they have the parentage, but it's their choices that make them beastly - not the circumstances of their birth.
Eurytus, the original owner of the Apollonian bow Odysseus uses and the one Penelope sets apart for the suitors to string in her challenge, was Apollo's grandson. He was such a skilled archer that Apollo gave him one of his own bows and he was even believed to have taught Heracles archery. Unfortunately, he became rather prideful about the whole thing and declared himself an even better archer than Apollo and proceeded to challenge his grandfather to an archery contest wherein Apollo gave him the honour of shooting first and then promptly shot him dead with his own arrow for his insult. Apollo passed the bow on to his much sweeter great-grandson Iphitus who later gave the bow to his good friend Odysseus.
Despite boars usually being regarded as creatures of wild, raging temperament, there's a particular curiousity about the Erymanthian Boar not being called to be slain by Heracles but instead retrieved alive. According to a couple different versions, the Erymantian Boar was either the boar Artemis summoned to kill Adonis for Aphrodite having killed Hippolytus (and thusly, was named after Erymanthos, the marshy region sacred to the goddess where it wandered) or Apollo himself transformed into a boar to kill Adonis because Aphrodite blinded his son Erymanthus (which, accordingly, would be the reason for the boar's name) who saw the goddess bathing after she'd had sex with Adonis and tattled on her (this, naturally, would've occurred between Persephone and Aphrodite's 'cold war' for Adonis). Either way, the Erymanthian Boar was a sacred animal to the twins and provides a very interesting bit of depth to what is one of the more overlooked labours of Heracles. (There's even a bit about a particular temple of Apollo's claiming that they had the boar's tusks enshrined there)
According to Nonnus' Dionysica, after the whole Hyacinthus affair, Apollo had a bit of a phobia of the wind. In particular, there's a passage that describes "...when Zephyros breathed through the flowery garden, Apollon turned a quick eye upon his young darling, his yearning never satisfied; if he saw the plant beaten by the breezes, he remembered the quoit, and trembled for fear the wind..."
In the early days of the Bohemian Grove (that is, an exclusive American gentleman's club) one of the earliest productions put on at their annual meeting is an original work by early American author Will Irwin. His work, which was played at the 1904 meeting, was called the Hamadryads and features a Greek myth OC called Meladon who kidnapped the titular hamadryads (who were actual spirits in greek myth) and trapped them in trees. The play ends when Apollo descends and slays Meladon with an arrow, freeing the hamadryads. This isn't strictly related to classical greek myth but it is also, by far, one of the wildest things I've ever learned while researching modern theatric adaptations of greek dramas and tragedies because the Bohemian Grove is also the center of many conspiracy theories which involve concepts like the New World Order and other such secret society beliefs. Naturally, I had to share this information.

Heyo! I know you like talking about the 7 deadly sins (I think?)
But what about their counterparts, the 7 heavenly virtue's? (The Angels that represent them, or info on their meanings.)
If you don't know a lot about them, or don't want to talk about them you don't have to. I would gladly listen to any info you'd like to share on the sins or another topic of your choice.
I love reading your information posts, so any topic would be welcome. :)
idk exactly why, but your posts are just a very enjoyable read! I love learning about your interests, because you just make them very detailed and interesting I guess?
Thank you for reading this ask I hope you have a wonderful day ✨
Hi! Thank you for your ask - sorry for not answering sooner but my Internet has been up and down, in and out, and so I have limited access to Tumblr.
I am glad you took an interest in these old posts - though I do have to mention how OLD these things are. They did pop up back thanks to the Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel stuff, but yeah I haven't written about topics like the deadly sins in a while.
For the seven heavenly virtues I will say that... It's paradoxal but interestingly, they are not as interesting as you might think X)
I am not going to make a whole ass post about it yet, I am writing that on the top of my head, but here's the thing. The seven heavenly virtues were NOT part of the original Christian doctrine, teaching, religion, and are still not considered today... "canon" I will dare say (religious pun intended).
There are seven virtues in Christian religion (at least Catholic flavored, since that's from where I get my info :p Don't know what Orthodox have to say to that), but they are NOT the seven heavenly virtues. They are the four cardinal virtues and the three theological ones (main difference: cardinal virtues are supposed to come from the humans themselves, we have them naturally in us ; theological virtues are supposed to come from God and thus only religious work can help us get them "out"). They do form the seven virtues of Christianity. But they were not made to match the seven deadly sins. They existed way before the idea of the "seven deadly sins" popped up (remember, it all started as just a tiny monk in his isolated desert writing down about all the flaws and problems he saw young monks suffer from - "Those darn kids" mentality - which led to a whole philosophical and theological process only later picked up by Church higher up. Eight evil thoughts - seven vices.)
But here's the thing. Medieval + Renaissance times had a big obsession with "evil imagery". It was this specific time where Christianity decided to go "Okay, let's stop preaching about being kind and poor and gentle - let's start telling them if they don't behave they'll be roasted alive while toads eat their toes". It was the boom of the Hell depictions, of the devil and demons imagery, of the depictions of the sins of all sorts, the arrival of Purgatory, and whatnot. Now, the seven deadly sins had a HUGE success... Too huge. The Church realized that people knew by heart the seven deadly sins, but literaly didn't know their virtues or care about them. (It's your typical mentality of "Villains are cool, heroes are boring." Just look at Disney movies.) So, to retaliate that, a sort of unofficial list was created, matching the seven deadly sins in goodness. The "seven heavenly virtues". But it is not part of the Christian teachings *per se*. They are part of Christian imagery now, for sure, but originally it was just a sort of... I will dare say publicity stunt mixed with memorizing technique. People were lost with the whole "cardinal, theological" thing - so the Church decided "Okay well let's take this thing everybody likes and YOU DO THE REVERSE OKAY?". And people dug this a LOT (there's the whole Psychomachia genre about poems and novels depicting embodiments of the vice and virtues fighting each other to death).
As for angels that would correspond to the virtues, OH MY! That's nearly impossible to answers X) Already with demons it is complicated because, since demonology was literaly a mix of occultism with literary fashion and cultural fads, everybody had their own take - though at least with this some systems and classifications became more popular than others and imposed themselves in mass culture (even when they don't make sense by the Church's teachings, like the Lucifer/Satan divide). But with ANGELS? People don't even agree on the number of Archangels or on what exactly an archangel is ; so to find a coherent or imposed system of "seven angels" matching this sort of popular-but-unofficial list of "seven heavenly virtues", good luck! X)
Sorry for not being able to say more for now but I hope at least this brief answer will satisfy you in some ways. Maybe one day I'll make a more precise post about it - or if anything I said is unclear or you want me to explain myself on a specific point, don't hesitate to send an ask! My askbox is always open for that
