I was just watching season 4 episode 5 "shawn gets the yips" and he just called lassie, who bended to pick up the Phone right as a shot fires at where his head was. Like that one phonecall saved his live. Why is noone talking about this!

So, for once, Huiying is mostly out of the season. Red insists on hiding her at his parents' house when Qi Xiaotian comes to from the Underworld (he was three steps away from driving Xiaotian from the hospital). This keeps her out of the way of Li Jing and Nezha.

Xiangliu is extremely smug about Huiying, nearly asking Xiaotian to thank him for having her. After all, Xiaotian would not sacrifice himself to the pillar when he has a daughter at home, a daughter that's started to learn how to walk and talk.

...unfortunately, he underestimates how much a parent is willing to sacrifice for their child.

Xiaotian sacrifices himself to the pillar, knowing that he'll never see Huiying again but she'll be safe...until Nuwa tells him that his family will be reincarnated in the next cycle. Except Huiying is only a product of Xiaotian being awoken early, which means that Huiying will most likely not be there. She's a tad more sympathetic to his plight but...eh.

Xiaotian refuses to allow that.

Red is furious with him afterwards for sacrificing himself and that iciness goes on to next season.

yeah... but your girlfriend was tied up and nearly drowned and your other girlfriend was dangled off a building, both of them knowing you could have very well chosen to save the other.

one girl already broke up with you over this at least juliet is only temporarily out if your life.
