Some protoframe designs I made some time ago and I'm currently working on more, hehe <3 (feat @thatfluffyboi 's boi Sol with Chanho oops) Meet Chanho (He/him), Vale (She/they), Adélart (He/him) and Adèle (She/her). Last two are siblings hehehe! Invented names for all of them as well, Chanho's from Hangoku (South korea), Vale from Vitalia (Italy) and the siblings are from Fraterce (France) but are mixed Koreans

I wonder if he still has the nerve endings to feel anything with this fingers. He uses them constatly for gaming and hacking and make no mention of pain, so I think he either feels nothing or just force.

Those attending TennoVIP at Gamescom 2024 got a special first look at Koumei & the Five Fates: the next update coming to Warframe this fall!

Eagle-eyed Tenno will recognize this as our cleverly named "Unannounced Fall Update" which was first discussed at TennoCon 2024. Unannounced no longer, this update was officially revealed as Koumei & the Five Fates alongside a brand-new Warframe and a new Nightwave Series with Stalker-themed Drifter and Operator customizations.

Jade Shadows fans can look forward to filling their Arsenals with some excellent equipment related to the brooding protector. This Nightwave Series will launch on September 3!

This latest rendition of TennoVIP also included a look at the new Volt Deluxe Skin, which will be sprinting into Koumei & the Five Fates later this year. You can see the new design for yourself below!

While not a part of Koumei & the Five Fates, TennoVIP attendees also rounded out the evening with a look at a different upcoming Warframe: Cyte-09. This tactical talent — whose related Protoframe you may recognize as Quincy from this year's TennoLive demo — will arrive with Warframe: 1999 this winter. However, those at our Gamescom community event got a first look at his design in-game for the first time! Now this latest sneak peek is available to the viewing public at large.

Last but certainly not least was a gorgeous new tease featuring Lettie — the Trinity Protoframe — as depicted in the upcoming Warframe: 1999 animation by The Line. You'll get to know more about The Hex's stern medical expert much as the months roll on, but for now you can enjoy this latest look in our first Production Diary update!

You know, now that you’ve mentioned it on my amir post. Amir’s scars around his eyes on how you said that salt water is more conductive. It also just hit me that when you have a high friendship rank or partnered with him, Amir lets his guard down around you and trusts you a lot (the drifter) and cries, and he cries a lot actually in the conversations you share along with him that are extremely personal or traumatic. 🥺

I’ve spent untold hours analysing the chat flowcharts, visual character design and insights, cutscene expressions, everything.

I am absolutely feral and playing into the sillies but Amir makes me feel so many more things beyond that.

There’s a reason one of the first posts I ever did (and apparently it’s still the most liked post) on this blog was about the side of his that really shows up when he comes into the backroom. The side of his that he slowly unravels as he trusts the Drifter more. There is a reason why the dialogues where he opens up about his problems open up the path to dating him. And why lack of support means he’d break up with you.

I still wish they kept at least some of the Tennocon preview mall quotes because the brain hug quote and Eleanor talking about Amir being one of them live both in my head RENT FREE.

Also while for example Lettie’s retelling is also terrifying, the way Amir describes his experience, him needing two tries to tell the full story (first try he stops before he tells the story of turning Protoframe), the sheer spectrum of trauma and terror in his retelling of the events made it feel REAL. And the emotions I felt were just as real.

So what is armor on the protoframes and what isnt? I thought everything Amir had on him WAS his skin-turned-infested aside from the tactical webbing and stuff, but his chest piece? His hands? His shoes and leg pieces? I thought that was all cemented into him. I know he has zippers on his legs and arms, but are they there functionally or are they just part of his “skin”? Or is the black part the infestation and the rest just happens to be armor they put together that looks very similar to Volt’s infested skin? How did the Hex design specific armor pieces that look exactly like their paired Warframes in the future? I write xreaders and I GOTTA know. So many questions. I know they have functional genitalia, digestive systems, etc etc, so its not all infested, but how does it all come off? Rivets? Buckles? Snap-in pieces?

last devstream de confirmed 4 more protoframes and i instantly thought of your amazing humanframe art I am MANIFESTING (but only like consentually if this sounds cool ofc) a collab it would go SO HARD

I was so excited for this devstream ever since Rebb spoiled more protoframes coming and i was not disapponted a single bit. FOUR new blorbos?? we have the edgy/emo guy protoframe, we have the silly/nerd guy protoframe, we have the charismatic/cool protoframe, now we need a guy who's openly gentle and kind, and guy who's problematic/villain-esque, cover all the archetype bases. perhaps some cryptic/goblin lass :D or a tomboy lass! or a posh or a bimbo or- anyway, i'm sorry to spoil that I have not been asked to design any protoframes :') even though that's the literal dream, so there's a certain level of envy. i think at this point it'd be all up to Liger, which i LOVE their "monster" designs on the warframes/deluxes and the way they translate the warframe bodies into the hex suits is fantastic!!! but i'm simply not a fan of their hair/face choices :') hand on heart, i was extremely worried im not gonna like 1999 at all just because i disliked the designs and their exploration SO MUCH apart from re-designed Lettie (Liger shared concept art that I was working with for the 1999 comic and lettie used to look different, sporty girl rather than the rockabilly vibe) 😭i am so so glad i ended up liking the characters, but i am now as worried as i am excited for the new four just because i don't mesh with liger's human characters much :')

I've been thinking a bit about the new protoframes coming in the next update and about protoframes in general. Just wondering about the direction DE wants to take with them. It's pretty safe to assume that not all of them will have the same design aesthetic as the Hex, not all frames would work well in that style. A lot of the old timers like Rhino, Loki and Frost would work great, but some - mostly the newer frames have more intricate designs. For example my fav, Equinox, or someone like Citrine and Limbo have specific gimmicks in their designs which really make me wonder how DE will handle.

Obviously Equinox has her twin forms plus the merged one, each with a different physique. There are also the cloth pieces to consider that appear and disappear depending on the form. How would these translate into the gemini skin? Would mess with the straps and harnesses if they decided to go the Hex-like route.

Citrine is not as complicated but just as interesting to ponder because her... crystal hollows? Kinda scary to imagine that your flesh not only turned into organic steel but also there would chunks of you that just fell off only to reveal some crystal structures underneath, but at the same time it would look insanely cool. She doesn't have a lot of free space on her so the Hex-like design could perhaps make it look a bit too cluttered?

With Limbo it would be a bit silly instead? Yea let's go with that, silly. Your buds grew some messed up but cool armor looking skin but you got a tuxedo you can't take off. I guess i can kind of picture a gemini skin with some of the Hex-like features, but i don't think they'll take Limbo in that direction. Also the hat... what will they do about the hat?

Ofc, there are so many frames i could speculate about... Voruna, Titatnia... Guess i'll have to wait till march to get some answers :/

i’ve seen like 5 different people now, in response to my infested theory, be like “well duh eleanor can control minds, she’s nyx” and i just gotta say. no, she literally isn’t. do you guys truly think that our girl here, eleanor nightingale, is the same entity as the nyx warframe that was designed by ballas and mass produced to protect/serve the orokin empire?

rebecca has already confirmed that the protoframes are completely separate entities from the warframes they are based on.

albrecht entrati found people infested with the technocyte, found a way to save their life by making them a protoframe in the process, and that is how she (as well as the rest of them) got those powers. that was my theory. he was inspired by different warframes’s designs from the (his) past/(their) future; they are not the same beings.

entrati merely brought the helminth strain of infestation from his time to create partial warframes.

if you wanna discuss theories that’s one thing that i am all for. but if you’re going to just be rude and imply that i’m somehow stupid for even posting what i have, when you don’t even seem to understand what i’m saying, then please, think again before posting. i’m not here for discourse or to start an argument, i’m here for talking about this fun update in a game i like that i’m excited for.

let’s have fun!!! stop trying to pick fights. i’m not here to debate. i’m here to have the party of our lifetime.

[ @heartsnbruises this IS an interesting question, and i hope you don't mind me elaborating way more than is necessary

personally, i think that no, lettie does not favor kneeling on her left knee -- primarily because the knee plate is a bit pointed, and looks like it juts out quite a bit from her shin even when her leg is bent. kneeling on that point seems like it would put a lot of pressure on the underlying bone and not provide a lot of balance.

additionally -- and this is literally just conjecture on my part -- i imagine lettie has crazy shin splint-esque pains in her legs and that that knee in particular is pretty painful, so she tries not to put weight on it. in the backroom she stands with her weight on her right leg; i thought it'd be fun to run with that.

so i can definitely see a different interpretation! but i've already put all my eggs in the "lettie's left knee is the Bad Knee" basket, and by god i'm not taking them out. someone has to suffer knee pains with me and i'm making it her problem.

now... this is going COMPLETELY off topic... but i did wonder for a bit about what the knee plate is even made of, and why lettie has it. i know the simple answer is "it's just a segment of her warframe carapace, whatever that is" but we can get whackier. because it's odd that the progression of her mutation is so asymmetrical, compared to the other hex; and on a meta level, it's odd because base trinity does NOT have pointed knee plates (trinity prime does. did lettie's designer take visual cues from trin prime? maybe!)

personally i think lettie sustained a knee injury at some point and the combination of the serum & her own regenerative powers resulted in sort of a bone spur situation where her body over-zealously started forming More Bone/other tissue to repair the damage done.

so what is the plate made of? if it's an extension of the existing bone, presumably it has a blood supply and nerve endings. is it like a true horn you would see on a goat, with a keratin sheath (or something akin to it) containing a core? can it be used for thermoregulation? is that why lettie doesn't wear any damn pants?? because she's hot all the time??? this is actually fun and i MIGHT run with this LOL

OR is this more of an antler situation? did it grow in with vascular tissue that sloughed off when the bone calcified (metallicized?), like you would see with an antler (sucks to think about)? will the plate fall off eventually? will it keep growing for the rest of her life? does she have to shave it down occasionally? if there's a keratin sheath (or if it's all keratin with no core, like a rhinoceros horn), can it eventually be worn down to resemble base trinity's flatter knee pads? i don't know! when it comes to protoframe specbio i'm flying by the seat of my pants LOL]

Warframe 1999

Very much a Warframe update, but a different style of update. New lore, lots of content, a new Warframe chapter. The gorgeous Arthur is our poster boy.

It's not a single player Warframe spinoff, a "Warframe 2" (I confess I was among those theorizing this). Those nipples stay on.

and now, waking up from his nap… it's Ben Starr! "Arthur is a very mysterious character who I am bound by NDA to say… VERY little about!" He's SO cool. and REALLY sexy. He's relatable. He's gonna be a badass, he's got a samurai sword.

Excalibur is a frame. Arthur is a PROTO-FRAME.

Just as an aside, Ben is adorable and hilarious, very fun to watch.

Q: any other warframes getting reworks? A: Inaros rework coming with Dante unbound. Loki rework not planned.

Q: What inspired proto-Mag's design? A: Liger did Arthur and Aoi. We had a very specific vision for those two protoframes: Arthur being the "man scout," and Aoi we wanted a nice contrast to Arthur.

Q: Two questions very well worded I didn't get them down in time because I was nodding along. About stat sticks / pseudo-exalteds and trading. A: Stat sticks: we've talked about it but no changes planned. Trading: we've talked about maybe adding riven filters but not much more than that.

Q from guy in Dante DMC trenchcoat: Drifters? Maybe new outfits? A: In Unbound we are bringing one more operator outfit to drifter.

Q: I've been playing Warframe for 10 years, and I'm legendary 4. Any additional benefits for high rank players? A: The social benefits of being a high-rank player are unexplored. In terms of more mechanical aspects… we're thinking more social benefits. congrats on being legendary 4!

So it's poetically coming full circle, that 1999 is dark sector inspired. Q: is there a plan for the dark sector remaster? A: 1999 is the dark sector remaster.

Q: Is there going to be fashion protoframes? A: Actually, yes… And that's all I'll say on that.

Q from Leon Kennedy: is squad link coming back? A: RIP scarlet spear. Not coming back in the way you might think, but we're experimenting early days with something you might like. It's in an urn. Geoff: that's pretty dead. Rebb: Someone hasn't played Baldur's gate 3! It's not totally dead, but mostly dead.

Q: Has anyone at DE considered a TTRPG or even a war game? you could blow games workshop completely out of the water. I'd rather give money to you than them any day. A: We're all fans of that kind of content, we'd endorse fan content, but we don't have the time to pursue it. Q: Has anyone considered modular ("kit") frames? A: We have considered it, but it didn't seem shippable. Seemed scope-scary.

Q: Are you, Rebb, personally happy with the way movement works at this very moment? A: Are you asking pre- or post- sticky corners? Q: Post. Also is Soulframe taking from the movement in Warframe? Geoff: Soulfame is very much in the opposite direction of Warframe, movement-wise. Rebb: I always thought it'd be fun to explore wall running in Warframe. But other than that, I love it. I think it's the best movement system in the third person games space. Every other game I play I try and bullet jump and aim glide. Questioner agrees.

Q: What was your favourite part of developing 1999, and Ben, what was your favourite part of voicing Arthur? A: Some stuff we haven't announced yet. As with most characters I play, there's something lovable about him despite his rough exterior… rough but he's nice about it. He's gonna do something to you, but he's gonna kiss you afterward. Rebb: I think it's quite sacred to introduce protoframes like this. We're being quite sacred about it (it's not Mag and Excal, it's Aoi and Arthur). Ben: The ways in which you're exploring that dynamic is very cool, and very 90s.

Q: Rebb, what are the things that plague you? A: My plagues are supported by the development team. I'm not alone; whenever I have an ailment, I have someone that to help support me with it. Geoff: I've genuinely never seen someone care so much. He gets teary. \*audience cheers as REBB DESERVES\* Same asker: when is my girl Titania getting buffed? A: Controversial question, she's pretty strong. I could see Tribute receiving some QOL to be easier to use (some Tribute). But those dex pixia, they do kill.

Q: clan to clan interaction? Haven't had that since solar rails? A: Ok so in the urn we have squad link.. \*laugh\* We are trying to do more clan events. They work for by the book tasks. There's opportunity there we haven't explored. No leaderboards. I'll try to do more.

Q: I'm curious how you develop characters as a Warframe team. I've noticed a lot of references to mythology. A: it's a library of devs that have passions. The team is just really diverse and loves really cool shit. The amount of inspiration we get to name things thematically, we have touched lore I didn't know existed. When it comes to Warframes, we're still looking at old Keith Thompson drawings… he's built different.

Q: I'm sorry to take you back in the morgue. Void keys. Will there be a return to the old void and endless missions? A: We're not in the morgue here, we're in ICU. Visiting hours are open. I loved the old voidkey system. We did a soft tease with Dagath keys, it had wins and losses… There were user experience problems. But it's not totally dead. The omnia fissures are kind of that vibe. You can bring any relic to an omnia fissure and just haul ass.

Q: Can we get a toggle for Protea's visor? A: The rigging artist working on it talked about it. Maybe. You're right, it would be nice.

Q: Fashion frame question. Have you considered a DE color palette, like, Megan's greatest hits? A: That sounds like a great idea :) We're doing it.

Q: Are we ever going to see new necramechs? A: I hate saying probably not. No new ones in 1999 at least. We're touching up the ones we have before we go to the morgue, and grab a skull, to make a a new one. Sorry

Q holding a Clem plushie: when more Clem??? A: We'll see. Clem holds a special place in our heart. He's not in the morgue, I promise.

Q: I've been coerced into asking a question on behalf of someone who's not here. He's made it clear if I don't get a satisfactory answer I won't see my family again. Are there any plans to look at spawn rates for loot and reactants? A: I'm gonna keep talking until you can get your family out safely, I'm filibustering. There's performance issues, we want to get safe on all platforms. The worst offenders we can probably fix. We can increase reactant drop rates. Loot rates is harder to solve.

Q: if you have Drifter selected, can you use drifter melee? A: We thought it was important to keep drifter melee in duviri, but… why not? We could try. Drifters can't mod though. It's not impossible, but it'd take some time.

Q: Warframe being predominantly PVE, has there been talk of collaboration among clans? A: I implied it with the other question, but a social benefit would be great. I'd love to see you make friends with other clans
