Supernatural: yes. Maggie is the one. Maggie is the one who will make Jack see what a monster his father TRULY is. She is such an important character on this show, so important than we will kill her off permanently less than a season later. Her impact is so real.

Don't know how I feel about the way some people point to Jack's powers to refute the existence of abusive parent/child power dynamics in which he is the victim since canonically, Jack having powers that he doesn't understand and doesn't know how to control, combined with his naivete, is like...one of the main things that makes him susceptible to abuse in the first place.

Okay but do you understand how important it is to acknowledge that both Sam and Castiel carry a lot of trauma from Lucifer and despite being against the idea of a nephilim, especially one created by Lucifer for power, they are the primary people who vouch and protect Jack. They believe in him so much and know that someone isn't inherently evil just because of their biological parents. And they try to get Jack to know and feel that, that's their son, they both mourned for Jack as losing a son. And are willing to sacrifice anything for him. Like, it's something Lucifer is bitter about as well, at least towards Sam. The fact that Sam has not only a relationship with Jack, it's the bond he assumed he'd have with Jack just for creating him. And it's so important that this is something that both Sam and Jack saw firsthand when he tried making them kill one another. And Sam didn't back down, he takes it with pride he's Jack's father. There's so much history with Lucifer that Dean holds against Jack, the only one out of the three who wasn't directly tortured by the devil. You can play the angle that it tore him up seeing how it affected Sam or something but there's not a clear history between Dean and Lucifer the same way there is with Sam and Lucifer or Castiel and Lucifer. They refused to treat Jack as if he was simply another Lucifer, because this wasn't. He had the potential to be evil as does anyone, and knew things would have to lead up to that, he wouldn't just turn evil because of his DNA, that's not how that works. Like it's such an important impactful part of their relationship to Jack.

I think people really underestimate Just how upsetting Jack de-ageing would be to Cas – it’s not just that he wouldn’t be actively happy the way people often seem to assume (which he wouldn’t! He loves the Jack that he has – he has zero desire to replace him with a baby version of himself), he would also be extremely distressed. Partially because (like with soulless Jack) he would be left mourning the child he loves while they’re still partially present, which is an awful thing to go through, but also like… The thing with Jack de-ageing is that personality-wise it’s not something he’d want to do, and Cas knows this. It would be a really drastic move for anybody, but (though he really really shouldn’t have to!) Jack places a lot of his very fragile self-worth in being strong and capable and being able to help people – if Cas came back to him suddenly a baby / small child, it would be very obvious to him that something was horribly horribly wrong.

Beyond which, the last significant conversation Cas and Jack had before Cas’s death was immediately after and specifically concerning the fact that Jack had just tried to kill himself. Like, Jack de-ageing post-canon is plausible to me only in the sense that he already ends s15 by effectively trying to kill himself and I see them as pretty much equivalent. A Cas who came back from the empty and was faced with a de-aged Jack would be utterly horrified. S14-15 is already the story of Cas trying desperately to keep his child alive and repeatedly not managing to, and Cas would just interpret Jack turning himself into a child as another case of him devastatingly failing.

For anyone who cares - lies I’m mostly writing this for myself. I finally picked Supernatural back up! Onto 14. I’ve actually enjoyed this season. The Michael storyline was kind of weird. Like they couldn’t take Michael’s Grace or something? The only option was the doom box thing? I don’t know. Honestly at this point the show is mostly held together by Jensen still giving it his all and pulling along the supporting cast (who mostly are still great; looking at you Rowena, Jodie and Donna). They still clearly don’t know what they want to do with Cas whilst also giving him a pretty heavy storyline (with the darkness - I know how it ends so…). Jack is a ray of sunshine that I am loving. But all I can think is how the bad CW writing is sucking the life from this show. Like we know that Deans love language is acts of care (like cooking for his family, sacrificing himself etc.). But they really struggle to get that across when it comes to Jack and to allow the audience to let go of how horrible he can be to Jack (and Cas). It’s frustrating to have to constantly read between the lines for these characters to be decent or consistent at least. Anyway I still have like 5 episodes left so we’ll see how it goes but highlights so far are the ladies, Michael/Dean. The costume department (clearly loving the Michael costumes and the mint condition costuming - bravo). Jack just being adorable. Like, damn, I get it. Must protect him. Low points just how uneven everything still is - it’s been 14 years guys. Get it together. The fact that Jared clearly checked out about 3 seasons ago. Honestly some awful acting. No wonder they stopped trying to give him storylines

Bonus side point that’s been percolating: it’s mentioned that Jack was provided with some knowledge of the world through his mum. Why he chose Cas etc. But what if he also had that sort of connection to Cas? He does connect with Cas at one point. So what if that’s why colours how Jack sees the Winchesters. Why he wants to be like Dean and liked by Dean because he’s running off how important Dean is to Cas. Anyway I should be working

Jack is very pure and sweet and good but also he understands the Winchester edict of “Sam doesn’t know what’s good for him, and sometimes he needs to be hurt to keep him safe” and Lucifer can very easily take advantage of this. and I think he should. and they should torture Sam together.
