genshin characters learning that you can fight (part 2)
| ayato, kazuha
part one
warning: blood, violence, reader is visionless and can be the polar opposite of the character (you share some similarities, of course), genshin charas may be ooc
AYATO
since you were in a relationship with the yashiro commissioner, almost everyone in the vicinity of inazuma knew of you.
people knew you as a timid and polite girl who is always looking down to avoid the scrutinizing gazes of others. whenever you talked to people, you would always avert your gaze away from them to avoid eye contact. that doesn't mean that you do not like people, you are simply scared to most due to past experiences.
thanks to ayato, your lover, your bestfriend and your greatest companion, you have grown to trust others. only in the kamisato estate though. all of the people there were handpicked personally by the head which is why you deemed all trustworthy. especially thoma and ayaka. you consider them family.
you have been in a relationship with ayato for almost three years. it is a different experience for you. you, who did not trust people that much, grew comfortable in his presence and eventually fell in love with his entirety.
however, ayato always feels guilty and sad whenever he finishes his works and eventually arrives in your shared bedroom, only to see you alone. you are a light-sleeper. the littlest and tiniest sounds will wake you up, which is why ayato tries his best to not be late, so that the two of you can sleep together.
unfortunately, because of his duties as the head of the kamisato clan, he can never find a day to rest. he always expected you to grow tired of him after all these years of getting used to always being neglected by him (no, you are not neglected, he's the only one who thinks so), but no, you never grew tired of it—of him. you always told him to always consider and protect his family first, inazuma, then lastly yourself.
he wondered why on teyvat would you see yourself as a last priority and asked exactly that, but you simply answered with a smile and embraced him with so much love that it brought tears to his tired lavender eyes.
which is why he swore upon himself to always love you until the world ends. even though he was busy, he is extremely loyal. and when he had free time, he would always take this free time to spend time with you even if he could just take this time to take care of himself first.
to ayato, you are the broad horizon of the sky. you are the most understanding person he and his family have ever met. you never get mad, you never assume, you never assume, instead—you understand. to others, you may be an ordinary girl that stutters and becomes easily embarrassed in the presence of strangers, but to him, you were someone who was in a distance, so far away yet always made sure to be near and bring the people you love with you.
you are always like that. you listen, you understand and you care. and maybe because you would do the same to everyone else, it makes him fall in love, over and over and over again. his love for you only goes deeper and for eternity.
you actually work as an accountant in the kamisato estate (this is how you and ayato were able to meet), which is why you're currently walking through fort mumei. ayato, thoma and ayaka all had to go together because it seemed like an important mission. but, there was also some important news in inazuma and someone needed to relay it to three of them, so, here you are.
you were quite exhausted to be honest. you have roamed around the area of yashiori island and you still couldn't find them. and the last resort was fort mumei. you sighed, eyes trailing everywhere in worry. where are they? you wondered.
and just as you thought that, their names were called.
but it is called in a way that it caused your heart to drop from your chest.
"thoma! ayaka!"
ayato? you ran towards the direction of his voice. you were desperate. you have never heard him call for people like that. there may be times where he accidentally raised his voice, but you have never heard him so... helpless and anguished.
you climbed up the hill, breath hitching at the sight of ayato bruised all over with ayaka and thoma unconscious behind him. you immediately hid and covered your mouth to settle your panicked breathing. you peeked, counting the horde of fatui attacking your precious lover and family.
tears welled up in the corner of your eyes. why is this happening to them...? you were about to lose all hope. you can't help them. you don't have a vision and there weren't any weapons that you can use to even give them some time to escape.
not until your eyes caught a bow and quiver in sight. thank goodness for your luck that there was also a sword lying next to it, too. your gasps were shaky, but relieved. your hands were shaking, your body was trembling but all of that doesn't matter when your family is in danger.
there really are times in life where you have to do something you do not want to do.
ayato panted and held his sword in front of him. he used all the arts of kamisato, all the sword techniques he knew, all the skills that he incorporated with his vision, but the enemies were never-ending. his vision may give him extraordinary abilities, but all in all, he was human. he gets tired and he doesn't have infinite stamina. his vision was getting hazy and all he could see was the blurred figures of his enemies.
he could have managed if thoma and ayaka were awake, but they were ambushed so unexpectedly that he was the only one who could react at that time.
his figure swayed left and right, yet he steeled himself to stand uprithgt. in spite of the situation that he is in, a smile could not help but appear on his face as he thought of his beloved. (y/n), darling... how are you right now...? your smiling face flashed in his mind.
i wish i could see you right now.
arrows suddenly went flying.
it was like asteroids and meteors falling from the sky.
he used his vision to protect thoma, ayaka and himself, but to his confusion, none of the arrows were aimed towards them. it hit the fatui, who let out agonizing screams and groans of pain. some collapsed, and the ones who were left standing were looking everywhere to see who was responsible for the attack.
his blurred vision immediately cleared up the moment a figure landed in front of him, familiar clothes flowing in the air. he gasped, realizing who the person was.
"(y/n)...?"
you were holding a sword and a bow in each hand. "ayato," you called him, voice as soft as ever.
ayato gritted his teeth and reached out to you. "run! you can't be here, love!"
"ayato." your gentle voice quelled all the panic and frustration that he was feeling. his hand that was about to hold you stopped mid air as you looked back at him and smiled with confidence, so unlike of your usual self that was saw yourself with low self-esteem. "it'll be alright." the moment you broke eye contact with him—your eyes burning with fury, glared at the horde of startled enemies in front of you.
"you band of rogues." ayato gulped at the sound of your voice. the delicate, patient and loving voice that he knew from you was no longer there. it was replaced with an animosity he had never heard of.
it held anger for hurting the people precious to you.
you threw your bow away and held the sword tightly.
"they are my family."
the moment you finished what you wanted to say, ayato watched, eyes wide as saucers and mouth gaping in shock as you cut the fatui with the sword you held. you also seemed proficient in hand-to-hand combat as you could easily take advantage of them using only physical movements and know and hit the fatui's vital points.
you were merciless yet so elegant. you left no time for error. once you defeated an enemy, you defeated another. to you, it seemed so effortless—it seemed so easy for you to fight enemies like them. enemies that were feared by almost everyone, enemies that even elites like him had a hard time dealing with.
yet you were here, defeating and dominating them without a single thought.
ayato stood there, eyes and mouth wide open.
he had only one thought.
i'm going to marry them.
extra:
"ayato! are you alright?! how about thoma and ayaka—?!"
"they're alright. nonetheless, that was extremely dangerous, dear. i know you triumphed over them, but don't go in like that ever again."
"aaah, it's alright, yato! i know i could handle them."
"and how exactly did you know that... hm?"
"geh...! i mean... i... i knew because i was used to fighting them, the fatui at least. i mean... i worked previously as an assassin for the shogun and the kujou clan after all."
"?!"
"i know i quitted, but still... i'm so sorry, ayato... i know you're disappointed in me, so you can brea—"
"—please marry me."
"........................what........................?"
"hm? was i not clear? i want your hand in marriage."
"!!!!!"
KAZUHA
you worked as an informant for the crux. informant... it probably meant that people who were in the job had a mix of personalities such as being secretive, serious, calculative and closed-off. either one of them.
but you're probably the most unserious informant that the crux and kazuha has ever met.
no, not probably. you are the most unserious informant everyone has ever met.
you're a person who was incredibly laidback that the crux wonders how you do your job so... greatly and wonderfully. you're the type to blink when crucial information is given to you, you're the type to give someone a thumbs-up when they give you information (even if you think it is suspicious and false), and you're definitely the type to clap your hands at new information you hear.
to the crux and kazuha, your lover, you are extremely goofy and quite (not only quite actually, you are the airhead) of an airhead. there are a lot of times where you come in a chill conversation where they're talking about their favorite food and suddenly make a L with your fingers under your chin. in addition, your face is the blankest people have ever seen as well. there are also times where you bite on something as if you are eating, but that something is the air. you're biting on nothing.
no one can ever compare to how airheaded and oblivious you are. the entire crux agrees, even ningguang who had the opportunity to meet you one time to get some information from you. it took kazuha a year to show you and make you realize that his romantic feelings towards you were not only platonic. back then when the two of you were still not in a relationship you were in now, he held your hand and intertwined your fingers, yet you swung it around and thought of it as nothing that close friends do. he, again and again, would cup your cheek and tuck your hair behind your ear, yet you would never be flustered and just laugh at him and do the same.
if kazuha is considered to be an easygoing individual, then you are far above him. he is composed, but when he is in front of you, when you do things that make his heart skip a beat, when you touch him—with such ease and innocence... he becomes a putty—a melted, blushing and embarrassed mess. sometimes, it is frustrating that you don't know how much crazy you drive him, but it is definitely one of the traits that you had and drew kazuha to you and he fell in love with.
because of your personality, he has never seen you flustered nor serious. it became a mission to him one time—to see you so shaken and austere (in a good way) and unfortunately, that never happened. even with his heightened and gifted senses, you never changed. the scent, the atmosphere, and the feelings you had... not once did it change.
you may be seen as someone silly, yet you are one of the most genuine people kazuha has ever met. you are straightforward yet still so thoughtful to the people around you. you speak in a way that will never hurt anybody but will still give people courage to go to the right direction. he doesn't know how you do that, but he is glad that you do that. he forever feels happy and lucky that he gets to be in a relationship with you.
what is strange to him though is that he has never seen you do your job. no one has, but everyone seems to trust you so easily and willingly, without you having to do anything special. before kazuha knows it, you just suddenly come in your two's shared room, sit on his lap and hug him with a lazy and slurring, "i'm finished~".
today is a just another plain yet kind day for you. you and kazuha are just strolling in the plains of liyue. it is a daily routine in your relationship to take a walk, no matter how busy one of you may be. it is unknowing when it started and it definitely helps the communication between you two. the two of you are calm people, so you rarely get into fights. in fact, kazuha and you never had a fight, even an argument. it's not because you were unwilling to talk about important matters, it is because you two are so willing to talk about each other about everything that you don't want to hide anything from one another which is probably why nothing ever seems to rise as a misunderstanding.
you were currently staring at kazuha, listening with glistening eyes as he talks about his hometown. you truly love him, especially when he talks about himself. you cannot help but just... look at the beautiful person you were so lucky to be with.
kazuha, noticing your stare, hummed and froze at the familiar eyes you were giving him. "...what's wrong, rosebud?" oh no, he thought. why did he even ask? he stiffened, preparing himself.
you just shook your head and beamed. "nothing. i just love it whenever you talk. you're so dazzling that it just makes me want to stare at you and listen to you all the time," you said without batting an eye.
kazuha, the known ever-composed and calm man, suddenly crouched on the ground and covered his face—his face that was so red thanks to a certain someone.
"kazu?" you blinked and rubbed his back with furrowed eyebrows. "you alright, sweetheart? what happened? are you feeling sick?"
he groaned and peeked from the gaps of his fingers. do you really not have any idea on what were doing to him? not even the slightest bit. unfair... so unfair, he thought, almost pouting.
on the other hand, you could see the redness on his face and could not help but feel more concern for him.
"how do you even say things with a straight face...?" he mumbled.
you heard him and hummed questioningly. "what do you mean 'things'? i mean, it's the truth." a gentle smile crossed your face. "you're the most beautiful person i have ever met, kazu."
he breathed shakily and buried his face deeper on his hands. that only made you feel more worried. "eh? kazu? you good?"
you've been in a relationship with him for almost three years, but you still don't know the things you do to him that makes butterflies soar in his stomach. he knows you're not doing it on purpose to tease him and such. he knows that you are just stating facts for yourself.
he sighed and rose from his previous position. "i'm feeling a little famished. maybe we should get some—" the air on the surroundings suddenly changed. kazuha took his sword and readied it in front of him. he had his free arm right in front of you, protecting you so earnestly. "there are people."
despite how dense you are, you are sensitive to the feelings of people, especially to the one you love. definitely ironic, huh? you peeked from his shoulder, eyes widening at the sight of the fatui slowly appearing from their hiding spots and surrounding you both.
"you have hidden your presence so cleverly meaning that you must know how sensitive i am," kazuha said, tone becoming serious. "were you following us? no... you must have been waiting for us this whole time."
"sharp. definitely sharp. unlike your stupid little lover hiding you," one of the fatui said.
the usual gentle ruby gaze turned into an immediate, blazing glare at the insult towards you. "may i ask you to repeat that once more?" his thoughts are deadly in spite of the formal words that he uttered—so that i can use this sword of mine to erase the entirety of your meaningless presence from this world?
"kazu," you softly called out to him. you patted his shoulder, the smile on your face never disappearing. "let's calm down." at your words, he eased up, yet still gripped his sword tighter than ever. you walked out from his protective stance and waved at the fatuus. "hello there~ what do you need?"
"(y/n)! what are you doing?!"
"information." the fatuus held up one of their guns and pointed it at you. "you are an informant and the higher ups have ordered us to seek you out since you have important information that may even alter the course of ordinary people's daily lives, yet you decide to hide it." the fatui smirked under their mask. "your reputation overestimates you. you are a fool to walk out from a samurai's protection and willingly surrender to yourself to your enemies. so foolish... so, so foolish."
kazuha gritted his teeth. "you dare call them a—!"
"'information that may alter the course of ordinary people's daily lives', huh?" kazuha stiffened at the sudden deepness of your voice. he froze in his position, not knowing what to do after hearing such coldness from your normally delicate voice. "it is only to you and your higher ups' perspective that the information i hold may change people's lives for the worst, though i will have to say with sheer honesty that... you are the ones who want to hurt people and spread lies with this measly information." your eyes glinted dangerously. "...what pathetic people you are."
never in his years of being with you that kazuha has ever heard you speak like that.
"kazu," you called him, voice returning back to the soft one he knew. it is as if the conversation between you and the fatui never happened. you smiled. "i'm sorry to disappoint you, but i will have to do something that you may not like."
"...huh?"
without wasting any time, you grabbed the end of the fatui's rifle and kicked their face. you spun the rifle, finger immediately taking place on the trigger, gaze focused as you aimed at the vital points of the other fatui. you quickly turned around, shooting the fatui ambushing your lover from behind.
kazuha was too shocked to even move. he couldn't comprehend the way you were talking to the fatui earlier and now you were suddenly showing excellent marksmanship that even him and other people could not achieve?
to say that he was surprised is an understatement.
he was stunned beyond belief that a skilled fighter and samurai like him could not move a single inch.
"kazu." your voice lulled him back to reality. you put a hand on your chest and shot a fatui from behind without even looking. you smiled, so so so sweetly at him that it made kazuha feel so weak in the knees.
"leave everything to me."
extra:
"dear, please... you have to stop surprising me every single time."
"huh? what do you mean surprise? ahhh, the me-shooting-fatui-with-a-whatever thing? didn't you and the rest of the crux know that i can use guns and any long-ranged weapons?"
"definitely not, my love! i immediately asked when i arrived and i was only received with disbelief and statements saying that i was lying!"
"ehhh? really? you don't have to exaggerate, sweetheart... i didn't intend to hide anything. it is expected of my job to know how to fight or some sort."
"ha... you're unbelievable."
"...??? what did i even do...???"
note: i finally finished part two! i received a request where the reader gets a vision and i thought that was pretty interesting, so why not do that next?! i'll make a sequel and i'll probably squeeze all four of them into post. it'll be so long, but i'll enjoy it anyways, lol. hope y'all enjoyed this! have a great day! see ya at the sequel!

Kabaneri theories pt 2
Part 1 here; our analysis of ep 1.
Sorry, I know it's been a while but life has been kicking my ass recently. Anyway, here is our analysis of episode 2!
Firstly, we were very interested in the apparent hivemind of the Kabane, as they all seem to be able to communicate in some capacity and follow each other easily. One option is that there is some controlling force, similar to a Queen in an ants nest, but with what happens later in the series I am pretty sure that isn't what's happening. Our main theory so far is that Kabane can release pheromones (different scents) like bees. This would mean that not only would Kabane be able to create trails for others to follow, they could use different pheromones to show meaning, like 'food here'. This could also explain why Kabane will attack Kabaneri instead of humans, as they may release some pheromones that cause them to be targetted.
We also looked at the heart cage, as well as the blue sparks caused by shooting it. In the series, it says the heart cages are some type of stronger iron. This theoretically could be possible, though not quite as it works in the anime. As blood contains small quantities of iron, it technically could be used to create the cage, but there are such small quantities that it would be near impossible. However, many Kabane will be consuming blood from the people they attack, which could help the cage develop. The other thing is that the Kabane parasite may use the host body to produce the iron. As we see in the show, when Kaban are injured they don't really bleed that much. Add that to the colour of the skin, and you have the idea that the parasite gets rid of or shuts down a lot of the blood vessels, which means the host body would be producing iron with nowhere for it to go, so it forms the heart cage.
We couldn't think of how the cage could be stronger than normal iron, as alloys are weaker than pure metals. The only option is that maybe having a slightly more malleable alloy might make the cage bend instead of break, which could make it more protective in some circumstances. The blue sparks that appear when Kabane are killed is possibly a chemical reaction between potassium, water and oxygen. Yes, we know potassium burns purple but it's an option. This means that there could be a thin layer of potassium inside the heart cage, but we don't know where it could come from.
Another thing that is weird about Kabane is that they apparently don't feel pain. This has quite a simple answer; if the Kabane are caused by a brain parasite, the parasite could easily sever the connection between the brain and the nerves around the body.
Now onto the Kabaneri. First, is the paradite hibernating?
As we said in the last post, we think that the Kabane were caused by a parasite, and Kabaneri are made when something goes wrong with the parasites infection. I said last time that the parasite could be hibernating, but now we don't think so. If it was, it would not be able to have such an immediate effect on Mumei when she takes her ribbon off, so the parasite must be awake, even if it's not in the brain. Removing the ribbon could cause some slight change in the blood, causing the parasite to attempt to reach the brain again, having the side effect of the 'power boost' Mumei gets.
This could also explain Mumei's sleeping after fights. As the parasite becomes more active, her immune system would be under a lot more strain to control the parasite, and adding that to the extreme physical exertion, it could definitely drain any stores of energy that she has, especially as she is still very young.
Anyway, that's the new theories that we have come up with. Most of these aren't plausible at all, but are at leadt theoretically possible, and either way it's quite fun. I don't know when I will be able to update this, but I hope it was at leadt fun to read.

Delicious in Dungeon / Dungeon Meshi Episode 1
WOW the pacing on this is great. That was my first major impression of this entire episode.
Overall Score so far: 8/10
Dungeon Meshi hits several sweet spots for things I like in a manga/anime - cooking and well drawn food, and fantasy and dungeons. But I never took the time to try out the manga. Maybe the art didn't stick out for me? I tried reading it before the anime came out, just to get a feel for it, but it couldn't keep my attention.
The anime however.
Episode 1 handled all of what I could get through in the manga, and ITS. SO. CUTE.
Tumblr media
The food is gorgeously drawn, the characters are adorable, the D&D vibes are immaculate, and the monsters and the food they become are fascinating!
I've only given it an 8/10 because it remains to be seen just how many hooks this might snag in my heart if what I've overheard about the manga being 'soul healing' is true.
The first think I can tell is that this is from a slightly older manga, with Marcille being a very classic/traditional tsundere (and/or possibly tsukomi character?). She is the tsundere type that future tsunderes were based off, and so TO ME she's both somewhat annoying and also more bearable than today's tsunderes.
Tumblr media
Sorry Marcille.
I actually didn't like her all that much in the parts I read of the manga, and while her reactions are realistic and serve a purpose to counter balance Laios' nonchalant ability to eat the monsters that try to kill them, her reactions also annoyed me. The 1st anime episode made them much more bearable, and I grew to like her! I hope future episodes do her justice and that she's not delegated solely to being the one to dig in her heels when they eat something new.
Laios is adorable and just really really really wants to share his special interest with his friends, and I love him. He is a cinnamon roll that most be protected but can probably protect himself. I love that he has a cookbook and has just been WAITING to try out some of these recipes.
Tumblr media
Chilchuk is Liam O'Brien from Critical Role and you can't tell me otherwise. Specifically his halfling character, Orym of the Air Ashari, with a bit of Vax'ildan thrown in for good measure. I'm excited to explore his story.
Tumblr media
Senshi is goals. I wanna but a tough old dwarf roaming a dungeon for food.
Tumblr media
I know it will likely get compared with what Capybara and I jokingly call "The Amazon Anime" -- Campfire Cooking in Another World -- and that will always hold a special place in my heart because I stumbled across the light novel when the manga only had about 2 or 3 chapters scanlated online, and never in a million years thought it would get an anime. Where as this is a big name manga that's been running since 2014 and finished last year in September 2023.
Tumblr media
They're both cooking animes that deal with fantasy food, but Campfire Cooking is an isekai and all the animation budget went into making the food look D E L I C I O U S, and Dungeon Meshi is going to be far more well rounded story even while being a gag anime.
It's also got some fun Voice Actors!!
Laios, our hungry knight is voiced by Kumagai, Kentarou, who mostly plays supporting roles in a few popular anime and lots of smaller animes, but has spent most of his career voicing BL Drama CDs >o>
Marcille, our elven mage and tsundere, is voiced by Senbongi, Sayaka - Shuna from TenSura, Mumei from Kabaneri, and Haru from Beastars!
Chilcuk, our cute little halfling rogue, is voiced by Tomari, Asuna who, I IMMEDIATELY HEARD GOBUTA FROM TENSURA. She also play Kyou Souma from Fruits Basket. She has a very cute voice.
Senshi, our fearless dwarf, is voiced by Naka, Hiroshi who is best know as Garp from One Piece, Luffy's Grandpa, as well as Gamabunta, Naruto's giant frog.
Anyways, I'm excited for the next episode! Episode 1 was a good introductory episode, with cooking, hunting, and laying out their goals for the coming journey.
ep2 ep3 ep4 ep5 ep6 <- these will eventually become links, I hope.

The physical record of Inazuman history is easily the worst of the nations we have so far. Almost every island has been beset by major disasters that have drastically changed their landscapes. As a consequence, the actual purposes of almost all of its truly ancient ruins have been lost. Take the massive complex at Araumi. Despite being one of the largest complexes in all of Inazuma, there is no reasonable purpose to it that can be seen today. The Sacred Sakura couldn’t have existed when the complex was built as it only sprouted 500 years ago. Meanwhile the architectural style of these ruins indicates it was once a part of the Unified civilization. Making them at least 5 times older. It also couldn’t have been for the Perpetual Motion Machine as that was likely built by Khaenri’ah. Which of course existed long after the Unified fell. If neither fit the complex, then we have no clues as to what it could possibly have been used for. With the meaning of such sizable ruins being lost, it's unsurprising that the purposes of other ruins would be lost or distorted due to time. The most noticeable of which should be Fort Mumei. Despite showing very little signs of being a militaristic site, it has still gained the moniker of “Fort”. In this analysis we are going to talk about what Fort Mumei might actually be, and what of its features may have led to the creation of this misnomer.
Why Has it Been Named a Fort?
Before we can get into why it isn’t a fort or what it actually is, we first need to address how the concept of it being a fort first could have come about. I believe there lies 2 distinct possibilities as to how. Location/geography and the ruins' current state.
Location/Geography:
The first war between Watatsumi and the Shogunate was fought over Yashiori Island. The details of the conflict are unimportant here but it ultimately culminated into a Shogunate victory after Orobashi and his generals were slain. However tensions remained high after this victory. Thus, for some time immediately afterwards, the Shogunate likely kept a large military presence upon the island. It’s possible that during this time the ruins were used to house military equipment and personnel. Due to its proximity to Watatsumi it would provide an excellent front line position should any disillusioned denizens of Watatsumi decide to try something. Additionally, the islands surrounding the ruins provide a natural protection against naval attacks by forcing ships to enter in smaller predefined locations. Making it a fantastic place to route an opponent that can only invade by sea. Even temporary bases are often named, and with the large number of personnel that would likely have been stationed upon the island the name this temporary moniker of “Fort Mumei” ended up sticking.
The Ruins Current State:
The other possible reason for this misnomer lies in the current state of the ruins themselves. The ruins at Fort Mumei are almost entirely underwater. Whether this is a result of flooding or the structure itself sinking into the sand and silt is unknown. Whatever the reason, with the majority of the structure out of sight, misconceptions are bound to arise. The average person is likely only going to be viewing these ruins from a distance. Such as the view seen below.
Tumblr media
The people who live on Inazuma are very familiar with sea travel as it is the primary mode of transport due to its existence as a nation of islands. Seeing such a structure inside a cove is likely to prompt people into believing that the structure likely served some sort of marine duty. With the stone structures along the red lines maybe serving as anchoring points for docks. The military correlation may have come about both due to its proximity to Watatsumi Island and the presence of several Shogunate shipwrecks surrounding it. The important thing to remember is that the average person isn’t going to be giving much thought to something like this outside of trying to come up with something to call it. As a result the function of the unknown is often made to fit into something that would make sense to them, even if it’s wildly different to the truth. To the average Inazuman, these are simply some waterlogged ruins in a cove.
Why Isn’t it a Fort?
Of course the biggest question of this analysis is why isn’t this a fort, at least not originally. Unlike how its misnomer may have come about, simple observation of the ruins and the surrounding area creates several discrepancies towards the idea that these ruins were used in a militaristic function.
The Water:
If these ruins were originally used as a naval installation, then it makes total sense that it would have sunken at least a little bit over the centuries. But the issue with this complex is that that water was probably never supposed to even be touching it at all. There are several clues hinting towards this having originally been built on dry land. Such as this set of stairs on the northern side that go directly underwater.
Tumblr media
Or the fact the circular center platform sits raised upon an ever larger circular platform.
Tumblr media
Or this fallen wall carved far too ornately to have then been stuck underwater where it wouldn’t be seen.
Tumblr media
Finally, both the north and south sides have walls or lines of decorated pillars that connect to ruins on the surrounding islands. Something that would make no sense to build if the area were originally covered in water.
Tumblr media
north side
Tumblr media
south side With the unlikely exception of some bizarre religious meaning. It makes no sense why a group of people would intentionally build such structures underwater. It would be ridiculous to expend so many resources creating such ornate structures only to hide them away where people can’t see them. And that's not even getting into how they even built them in the first place. Finally some of you might be wondering how this area could have ever not had water in it. For that we have to turn to the islands surrounding it. The best theory I could come up with is that islands surrounding the ruins were once both much larger and higher up. As a result, they created a natural barrier against the water. Which may have been further built up by the people who once lived there. However thousands of years of erosion have since destroyed most of that barrier, causing the entire area to be flooded. Evidence for this can be seen on the two northern islands. Which are actually still attached by a very shallow sandbank.Where are the Defenses?:There’s no such thing as a military installation without some kind of defensive structure. Now Fort Mumei does have one, the issue is that it’s the only one, and even then it's so far gone that it could easily have been for something else. On the northwestern island lies the remains of a stone tower. With only the base remaining, its true purpose can only be ascertained through guesswork. But what I can say is that it probably wasn’t a defensive tower. It is A. The only stone tower in the entire complex, and B. Is located away from most of the ruins, which would make it useless for anything defense related. It wouldn’t even be useful for lookout as you could just build something on Yashiori Island for that because it’s already higher than the area the ruins are in. Other than this incredibly unlikely candidate, no other defensive installations can be found anywhere within the complex.
Tumblr media
Said tower, note how little remains making its function indecipherable So What is it?The Fort Mumei ruins are vast, comparable in size to the largest area of the Windwail Highland ruins (For more on said ruins see my Windwail Highland analysis One Two Three Four). Except unlike at Windwail Highland this is, or at least was, one continuous structure. No matter how prosperous a civilization is, such a large amount of time and resources would never be put towards something that didn’t have importance to the society as a whole. So if Fort Mumei wasn’t a military installation, then what was it? Unfortunately that’s a question we may never know the true answer to. There is no mention of Fort Mumei in contemporary texts and proper exploration of the site is prevented due to the water. That doesn’t mean we can’t make some guesses. In fact I have two of them.Ceremonial Site:The first theory I have regarding the Fort Mumei ruins is that they served a ceremonial and/or religious purpose. This conclusion comes mostly from the layout and location of the main body of ruins. For starters the ruins of Fort Mumei are both simple yet complex at the same time. Consisting of a single central pathway that leads to a large circular space. Such an open space would be a perfect site to perform ceremonies to large groups of people with relative ease. The pathway continues from the platform, heads up some stairs, and stops in front of a raised platform complete with a massive and ornately decorated arch. The arch itself is of important note. Being highly decorated and the only one of its kind within the complex, this archway was likely pretty important. Maybe even the most important part of the structure. This is further reinforced by the fact the central path doesn’t actually go to the platform the arch stands upon.Something to remember is that this complex was probably built about six thousand years ago (being that it’s likely from the unified civilization). Watatsumi Island rose from the ocean only two thousand years ago. Meaning at the time of its construction this was the furthest west you could travel in all of Inazuma. In the likely very culturally diverse place that was ancient Inazuma, it wouldn’t be too odd for there to be some people who saw this as important.
Tumblr media
The pathway does not go up to the platform with the arch, instead stopping just before it. There is no proper staircase leading up to this platform as the stones lying atop the path appear to have fallen there as the ruins deteriorated. Before we go into the other theory, let's take a quick dive into a crack-esq theory that popped into my head. I think it’s possible this archway may have been used in ceremonies as a sort of gateway to another world. Because beyond that archway, the world was simply an open ocean as far as the eye could see. Something that would be quite provocative to the imagination and possibly allow for some explanations to unknown phenomena. But seeing as by simply heading a little ways north you will get to land that goes much further west without any water in the way, this holds very little water to it. But I still wanted to mention it.Governmental Site:The other potential use for this site that comes to mind is as a place of governance. The main claim for this comes from the large circular platform as it could have possibly served as a meeting place. The broken pillars present along the edge of the platform give rise to the possibility that it may have once been roofed. This roof was probably wooden as the floor of the platform is still visible and not a lumpy mess. A governmental complex would also give an explanation for the various offshoots to the other islands. With each island being home to a different aspect of the government. If this was the case, then it would explain why the only tower at the site exists in such a bizarre place. This being that it was where the military command structure was based. This theory does fall through a bit more than the ceremonial theory because of its location at the very edge of Inazuma. Being located there would make it much more vulnerable to an enemy attack and its total lack of defenses would make putting it there very risky. But on the other hand it could have been built during a time of prolonged peace where such things simply needn’t be taken into account. But this is all just speculation of course. Conclusion:Bit of a shorter one this time around. Mainly because there’s a lot less to talk about then my previous subjects but also because Tears of the Kingdom is out and I want to spend my time playing that. I've also been trying to use less pictures and more words in my posts which is why some things that would have had pictured references in the past don't in this post. I once again don’t have options for people so I’d love to see some suggestions for stuff to do in the future. I would also like to encourage others to do more things with ancient civilizations in Genshin Impact, it’s kinda boring having the only things to read about them being just my own work. But that’s all from me, I’m off to do boring things like college prep and fun things like TOTK.46 Originally posted by: u/Monkeydp81 On genshin Lore reddit  re Posting here as i think the best way to in take lore theories is rather then have a million tabs open is to just have them read to you via tts so thats what im doing here

Headcanon: Kabane part 2
Aaaand here we get Unintended Consequences.
Number 1: Naquadah in any form definitely boosts psychokinetic abilities. Which the kabane use not just to pull their group form together, but as individuals to slow and spread out the damage from anything hitting them. Like rocks, bullets, staff weapon blasts.... And, y’know, engage in feats of superhuman strength. Like, say, pulling armored cars apart.
Number 2: Wiping out all but the basic brain in a frog, one thing. Wiping out all but the basic brain in a human? Um. There may be a lot more useful intelligence and knowledge remnants left. Especially if they’re already programmed to mimic their prey species - which in this case is other humans.
On top of that we know from Stargate canon that humans have baseline psychic abilities, hok’taur have A Lot More, and you are now adding what’s left of a potentially psychic human brain to something already psychokinetic. Oops.
(In this setting, yes, ki sense does exist and is a thing some samurai have and... that had its own consequences when it came to dealing with the kabane.)
Number 3: Ma’chello seems to have holes in his understanding of human behavior, and we have no evidence he knew one drop about animal behavior. The fact that not all kabane are alike - that some seem to become altered and near human-intelligent warriors, or potential colony centers - is something he easily could have missed. Heck, in Kabaneri canon, only the Hunters have seen enough kabane without dying to notice these oddities. So one of the experimental subjects being a new colony heart could easily have been missed.
Number 4: Humans are bigger than frogs. I know, that sounds obvious. But when it comes to a mass of monster breaking out of containment, size matters.
Number 5: The second you get anyone else involved in a project, things will go haywire in ways you couldn’t predict. Because people. Ma’chello needed other people to help in his project on Tenka, many of them locals, and those with the power to help him in Keishi had their own political agendas about getting back more power. On top of that they would have been people willing to experiment on other human beings in the first place with something that kills them horribly, and... yeah. Ma’chello’s helpers would not have been good people. And those who like sadism and power tend to cut corners in other ways. A bit suboptimal when your experiment relies on people not breaching containment.
So, to sum up. In my headcanon kabane are a sort of parasitoid critter with two distinct life phases: the infectious spores, carried in blood and saliva and transmitted by bite or fluid contact to an open wound, and the active “adult” that has taken over and modified a human body. Usually, but not always, killing the human mind in the process.
Meaning Kabaneri are, in fact, pretty much kabane that have managed to preserve their human minds. But because they have - because from the very first moment of the kabane’s existence there has been a whole other mind taking care of everything survival-related - then the kabane brain has never had to grow as much as it would have to take over a whole body. And if it didn’t have to, then it wouldn’t. Brains cost energy. Why spend more than you need? Their kabane would be smaller.
We can actually see this, canon, whenever Ikoma or Mumei’s (Hozumi’s) heart glows. It’s definitely smaller.
Which means their kabane are... well, effectively slightly domesticated. Very slightly. Feral cat level at best. Handle with extreme care. But... so long as they’re not hungry, or riled, probably mostly safe.
Unless some jerk injects them with black blood, and then they’re not safe at all. Ow.
Or unless they’re way too close to an active colony pulling on their kabane’s mind to group up and protect the hive. That would also be Bad.
...And this is part of what went really bad on Tenka, in my headcanon, because samurai and ki sense? Yeah, if some poor swordsman wandered onto the wrong mental frequency and suddenly had a hungry hive in his head... not good.
Which led me to another stray thought, based on the canon that kabane seem to drop whatever they’re doing and whatever prey they’re after to go chase Kabaneri. Without the black blood messing with them, Kabaneri apparently feel wrong to kabane. Like ants from one colony - or slime molds - running into unrelated competitors.
The reaction in nature is “kill them, kill them all, kill them now.”
I suspect that given enough time, even the internal kabane could figure out its best chances of survival are sticking with other humans!

so i was listening to the song "anonymous m" by pinocchio-p and i just realized, did you name tokumei that bc "tokumei" means "anonymous?"
That's right! Both Mumei and Tokumei got their names because they both mean anonymous/no name/etc. I just thought that would be fitting for them since Mumei does a lot of underworld business and Tokumei doesn't want anything his brother does to be associated with him and he wants to keep his identity/info a secret from most people.
That's why those were just fake names in JWTN, which Taishiro assumed early on, since the twins wanted aliases to protect themselves.
In TABF, though, Mumei's name is real since he was more confident in escaping the authorities, which don't have as much power in the BNHA world, so he was fine with just using his surname to go by.
Tokumei, however, is always cautious no matter what world/AU he's in, so that name is not his real name.

pls keep talking about ur headcanons i am but i student in your classroom eager to learn....about what u think 2d anime girls do- BUT STILL VERY EAGER
im glad you are an enjoyer of my brainrot LMAO
I guess I’ll throw out some general/misc HoloEN ones because if I got down into ship headcanons I’d be rambling for a while, unless ppl outright ask for them too
When Kiara usually resurrects after a death, she ends up in other dimensions; she only recently learned how to stay in her current one when she revives. This process resulted in her dipping into the worlds of other Holomem and meeting them (reviving in the HoloFantasy universe, reviving in Reine’s peafowl dimension, etc)
Calli has been acquainted with Amelia for years, considering all of Amelia’s childhood accidents; Calli was protecting her that whole time due to being familiar with future!Amelia and her influence
While Mumei is technically the guardian of human civilization, she felt a disturbance when Atlantis fell; she can’t help but look at Gura with pity sometimes. When she remembers at least
Mumei can somewhat hear the faint whispers of human civilization; enjoys its songs of joy, suffers and grieves upon hearing screams of suffering, etc. Oh, and especially its bloodlust.
While the Ancient Ones definitely can do evil stuff at times, on good days, they’re just AO-chan on Ina’s little tablet who help her do art
Gura has gills and scales and fins under her main clothes. I just think that’d be cool honestly
Kronii intentionally stops time whenever people compliment her because she gets a little TOO flustered over praise; only once she’s calmed down does she unfreeze time and then go “Yeah I know I’m perfect”
Sana is actually the more skilled fighter compared to Kronii; they only really remained in a stalemate for so long during their conflict because 1: Kronii kept freezing time, 2: Sana just liked toying with her in combat, 3: neither really wanted to kill each other, they just wanted the other to yield, but alas Kronii is a stubborn bastard lady and Sana is a beloved sweaty gamer and 4: time and space technically exist hand in hand so if one were to truly perish in their conflict then that’d be bad news for everything anyway. Also I mean they’re concepts it’s kinda hard for them to "kill” each other by default
Also not headcanon per se but I believe Kiara, Noel, Botan and Kaela deserve muscles (Kronii too, but that’s already been made semi-canon by her). Buff girls give em the guns they deserve them, fight me
So yeah! That’s just a small handful of ‘em. Have fun!

My angsty hololive AU boys
so one friend ask me what my au is and hope the have tumblr because won’t write it twice
Irys is still a nephilim except she’s like crystal except her inside are like humen except she don’t trully have a heart (it’s a glowing balls in her chest) she have a tail too ^^’ and yeah she’s been around for awhile and refuse to sleep making her not only strongeur but also extremly tired all day (she’s afraid to sleep and fail on her promise to bae to never leave her alone again) she’s for some reason very protective of mumei when they ask about her memory of the gods
there still married
bae is still bea except she have a fear immense of mumei when mumei stare at her dagger lost in thouth, she also panicked once because irys almost fell asleep once and begged irys to not leave her alone again until she’s ready (she have a scar on her neck she often hide with her collar so that irys don’t panick seeing it) is extremly insecrure about her animal feature (and the fact that she’s litteraly chaos) and that when panicked her hands would turn into sharp paws with claws that can litteraly cut threw Tungsten ((1960–2450 MPa) Tungsten is one of the hardest metals you will find in nature) she also try to be carefull around irys since she’s like crystal and don’t want to hurt her wife
she fear so much mumei’s anger or rage that she often hide somewhere (she ran away when mumei say she’s starving)
sana is still herself except she sometime have to help her friend uphold there mental health and sanity to the point it’s freaking terrifying (mostly mumei tho you’ll get traumatized boy) she also have a cool looking scar that always change because “space is infinite and sometimes look different” (she almost hold space in her scarf dude also don’t try to steal it from her you’ll die from either the cold or the fact it drain either energy or your breath or from how heavy it can become it can become 200 tons boys)
she also overprotectiv of her friends and familly and won’t hesitate to murder you
fauna and kronii are both like sana overprotective and won’t hesitate to kill you if needed but they also know more about irys and mumei than the other does (because both spend an insine amought of time) also both have feather in there air because one time mumei was shedding feather and gave them some of her feathers)
for mumei ley’s simply say...even your worst fear or gods are afraid of what she can become or what she’d done (she still have memory problem tho) to explain simple what she did she did a genocide letting so many beg while agonizing to kill them sshe tortured some of them mentally to the point they wouldn’t be able to be healed (all her pain or sadness or bad emotion are sealed inside her dagger that if she stab it into someone even a good they would feel it as if it was there own even AO-chan fear her and want mumei to help them)

Talking to a few of the resistance army people.
So far we have:
A guy who really, really hates the Shogunate. He says that the Vision Hunt Decree was just the last straw and that they’ve been oppressing the people in many other ways, including high taxes.
A guy who really misses his wife and also gives this small preview of Watatsumi and Sangonomiya:
Tumblr media
Another hates fighting but continues to do so, so that his younger sister can stay safe back on Watatsumi. He drops a place name for Watatsumi, Bourou Village:
Tumblr media
A pair of workers who were rescued by the resistance from the rubble at Mikage Furnace. One of them says she doesn’t really have an opinion about which side wins (politically speaking), but she has companions in the resistance, so she has been helping them. The other mentions this interesting point, that workers over at Tatarasuna provided refuge to Vision bearers, which sounds sus since I still haven’t found out what actually happened to the Mikage Furnace:
Tumblr media
A guy who used to work for the Kujou. He mentions “two brothers” in the Kujou clan. I’m not sure what this refers to though.
A swordsmith from the Miyazaki school. He was “under the protection” of the resistance army since the start of the war and decided to help them as a result. He gives a lot of lore: Kannazuka belongs neither to the Narukami worshipers nor the Orobashi worshipers. It’s name means “a hill where no gods reside.” (Notably, his dialogue for some reason renders it as “Orobaxi.”) Orobashi taught the Watatsumi people farming and smelting. Fort Mumei was ruined in the battle between Orobashi and the Electro Archon. Continuing with the theme of the extremely sus connection between Baal (current) and Ogosho (OG archon), Orobashi was killed by Hitotachi:
Tumblr media
This isn’t all of them though.

was it something i said?
nanashi mumei/ceres fauna
fauna would do anything to protect mumei, anything to keep her safe...
Angst, Memory Loss, Short One Shot, an explanation for mumei not remembering how nature got corrupted, Songfic
Was it something I said?
Mumei felt her stomach lurch, air bubbling uncomfortably in her throat. Her heart felt like it was dripping with pain, squeezed and dribbling in her ribcage.
Was it something I did?
Someone was grabbing ahold of her hands, gentle, but insistent, trying to tug her back to herself again. Mumei let the rush of nausea take over, sloshing her down to her knees. A dull hum blocked her ears, bricking herself inside her brain. It was so dark and… fuzzy.
Was it something I said?
Gentle hands followed her, deciding to take hold of her shoulder, gripping more desperate now. They hold her close, and Mumei remembers the smell. The smell of fresh grass, damp moss, and the light, airy scent of tulips. She couldn't quite place it, she just knew that she recognized it. A shiver in her back told her she was missing something- something big.
Dear darling, I'm sorry I never meant to-
The hum began to dull, leaving a shaky hush of words. Mumei felt the strands of hair and petals drape across her face. It sent tingles down to the tip of her nose, making her sniff to push the stray hair away.
-Stay out so late.
Mumei felt a familiar emptiness settle in her mind, it made itself cozy as she lifted her head. She was met with the eyes of a beautiful stranger…? That can't be right…
I got carried away.
Shining yellows, sunny and flickering. They were always flickering, weren't they? All down Mumei's face, before finally meeting her own.
Was it something I said?
"Mumei?" the stranger's hushed voice shook.
'I guess that's my name,'
"Uh… hey! You…" Mumei spoke, trailing off while trying to grasp a name in her mind. It was still content with it's emptiness.
You left me crushed.
"Oh god…" The stranger covered her mouth, trying to mask an uncertain gasp. She looked so… so unmistakable- green hair with flowers sprouting from its ends, branched antlers, tender demeanor, so why couldn't she just remember a name-
Were you losing your head?
Mumei scrunched up her face as she thought, her brain prickling with effort, then pain. Sharp and quick thoughts assaulted her eyes and ears.
Over something that you lost?
Ideas of expansion, of protection of sacred civilization. She needed to keep the elements from consuming this beautiful thing the humans created. Factions split off from this creation, soiling the land around it. The forest, Mumei found, could burn, just about as well as it could consume.
And did you feel it too?
She couldn't help but grunt, the pain fluttering out through her lips. Mumei felt the kind stranger pull her into an embrace. She couldn't help but notice a lack of a beat.
"Don't do this, please," the stranger chanted to herself.
When we both went blind.
Mumei didn't understand, she couldn't. She was tied to the life of the world, while Mumei only had to observe- she didn't know what she was doing when she did it. They were both sent to protect, that's the only similarity they have.
You wouldn't even look me in the, oh darling-
Civilization corrupted nature…
You wouldn't look me in the eyes.
Just like that, it was all over. It had all clicked, and just as soon as it did, it all was erased once more.
Was it something I said?
Fauna had to start over, Mumei hardly recalling she'd ever done this before. Fauna couldn't remind her, not without risking her losing everything again.
Was it something I said?
The secret had to be kept, and Fauna would stop at nothing to help Mumei, even if it meant corralling her animals, even if it meant giving up some of her plants to be domesticated in farms, even if it meant…
Was it something I said?
Making sure no one knew of this again…
Was it something I said?
Stealing, tearing, and burning the pages she could find in Mumei's notebook.
Was it something I said?
Anything…
Was it something I said?
Anything for her Mumei…
Anything to keep her Mumei safe...

While recasting I tries to stick to some of the established rules that might not change. Such as the Shihoein clan being captains of the squad 2 / stealtg corp. And the Fence clan being sworn to the Shihoein clan.
1. Captain of squad 2 - the stealth corp:
Hinata Mumei
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mumei simply means anonymous. She actually doesn't have any last names.
She was formerly a member of the Tsunayashiro clan. Albeit not in the main branch. She takes her death and runs to join a gang if mercenaries because she realized she didn't want to live her life as a well decorated expensive Vase. She goes through great hardship to wipe away the noble teachings and learn life skills necessary to survive.
Her bangs cover her eyes.
She is scared of nothing more thank to be recognized as the Tsunayashiro girl who died and be sent back to that clan.
Calm and collected. Stern and calculating.
Her fighting is like dancing
Loves nothing more than to run. Just run. As freely as she can.
Established gorila warfare in soul society.
Queen of survival skills for emergency situations.
Secretly loves her job. Doesn't show it because it unsettles everyone else.
What is sleep? What is food? How is she even alive?
Blink and you'll miss her.
She has not pockets but has a comical amount of weapons on her.
2. Lieutenant of squad 2:
Momoe Shihoein
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obligatory Shihoein clan member.
She does bave dark skin I just forgot to paint it
Classic Shihoein behavior.
Loves to make cat puns
She thinks she's so cute
Hates that her captain doesn't talk much. Demands verbal answers all the time.
Queen of communication skills.
Playful. Doesn't act serious. Is a lot more skilled thank she seems. She is to be trained to be the future captain.
The scar on her forehead is made by Hinata's thrown shuriken.
Young and innocent still. Has not seen the horrors of the world.
Can not be stealthy for the life of her.
Will not shut up.
Means well, pure hearted but God awful for the squad.
Best girl.
Does her best.
3. Third seat of squad 2/ warden of maggots nest:
Koji Feng
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obligatory Feng clan member.
Soft giant boy.
Bare shoulders - whore
Face covered badass
Flower bull
Two long braids on each side of his head are tied together.
He is so not a killer
Miserable at his job but very efficient.
Squirms so much under his captain. Badass assassin baby everywhere else.
So much younger thank he looks.
Loves cooking
Best support boy
Flower arrangement.
Youngest of 12 siblings. The family softie.
Must be protected
Also, giant man tiddies.
Super shy.
Just here to please the family.
A lot of self worth issues. A lot of internal fears.
My precious assassin child.

and he’d probably TRY to offer it too because he heals faster… rifp ikoma and mumei
He absolutely would. I don’t think he’d even really register a reason to NOT? (I mean, until he sees what his blood does to them) Because with the combination of not being a Squishy Human, the regeneration that he’s capable of, and just his general sturdiness he is Blatantly The Better Option? It makes him capable of giving more blood, more frequently, while also not handicapping his own fighting capabilities.
I mean, and then he sees what his blood DOES to them and he’s... probably pretty horrified. Because that was ABSOLUTELY not what he expected to happen, and oh man, now he’s put both of the Kabenari out of commission so now it’s his duty to protect everyone until they can get back on their feet.
