A very self indulgent Billford playlist!

Self indulgent, because this music does not appeal to the masses at all; these songs are limited to the stuff I listen to. So I’m being VERY transparent about my embarrassing taste in music right now! Plus, NOBODY ASKED FOR THIS!!! But I hope some of these resonate with you. This is a little collection I’ve formed in my phone notes since I got into this ship a couple weeks ago.

SO MUCH of their music is enemies/lovers perfection. I’ve thought about so many *killing you but also making out with you* pairings to this shit, because these songs were like, DESIGNED to be recycled for any and all love hate relationships, and still hit insanely hard EVERY TIME. So now that you have these songs under your belt, you have them FOREVER. You’re welcome. I haven’t even listened to all their music, I’m sure there’s more songs for this category that I simply haven’t discovered.

Propane Nightmares - Pendulum

This one WAS gonna go in the maybe’s, but I convinced myself otherwise after listening to it eighty more times, and now it’s up here on top. And fuck it, this is the *self indulgent* billford playlist, so I do what I want. I go into a fucking trance when I listen to this song, so I can’t really explain 110% why this is a billford song to me, but I’ll try.  Apparently, this song is about the heavens gate cult. So not enemies/lovers angst. But looking at the lyrics, you could interpret it as giving yourself to something greater, and coming to the realization that what you pledged yourself to is actually a very bad thing which will ultimately destroy you. (also, you can’t deny that there was some cult like manipulation happening with Bill and Ford. Sense of purpose and friendship.) Definitely billford-y when you consider Fords commitment to bill. And I’ll admit, when I listen to it, there is some pov switching. Because the “trail of fire”,  “we will be as one”, and “bring it on home” is VERY reminiscent of bill executing weirdmageddon. So overall, my interpretation of this song is Ford feeling torn about bill, feeling regret, feeling scared, and Bill of course, just wanting to bring the dimensions together. “BRING IT ON HOME!!!!”  Or I just like the song.

Painkiller - The Queenstons

…NEEDS NO EXPLANATION DSKFDSKJHF It’s similar to the above, just more… scary imo. Violent. Definitely bill being a little psycho. I really love this song. It’s very recyclable too. You have it for any toxic ship now. 

9V - The Queenstons

One of my favorite Lapfox/Halley Labs songs… I’m gonna give you the lyrics, it’s a bit hard to understand without them. In my eyes, it’s about betraying Ford. Also these vocals (and other music by this artist) works so well for bill because of the synthesized voice. 

LoveBOMB - S3RL

This is a new S3RL song. This song sounds like a tantrum, and I really liked it when I first heard it, but it didn't fit anything I was into at the time. Luckily, bill suffered a horrible breakup, and now this song has it’s meaning.

Was the Baltimore Bridge attacked? 👇

The Baltimore bridge collapse was an “absolutely brilliant strategic attack” on US critical infrastructure - most likely cyber - & our intel agencies know it. In information warfare terms, they just divided the US along the Mason Dixon line exactly like the Civil War.

Second busiest strategic roadway in the nation for hazardous material now down for 4-5 years - which is how long they say it will take to recover. The bridge was built specifically to move hazardous material - fuel, diesel, propane gas, nitrogen, highly flammable materials, chemicals and oversized cargo that cannot fit in the tunnels - that supply chain now crippled.

Make no mistake: this was an extraordinary attack in terms of planning, timing & execution.

The two critical components on that bridge are the two load-bearing pylons on each end, closest to the shore. They are bigger, thicker and deeper than anything else. These are the anchor points and they knew that hitting either one one of them would be a fatal wound to the integrity of the bridge.

Half a mile of bridge went in the river - likely you will have to build a new one. Also caused so much damage to the structural integrity of the bottom concrete part that you cannot see & won’t know until they take the wreckage apart. Structural destruction is likely absolutely.

Attack perfectly targeted.

The footage shows the cargo ship never got in the approach lane in the channel. You have to be in the channel before you get into that turn. Location was precise/deliberate: They chose a bend in the river where you have to slow down and commit yourself - once you are committed in that area there is not enough room to maneuver.

Should have had a harbor pilot to pilot the boat. You are not supposed to traverse any obstacles without the harbor pilot.

They chose a full moon so they would have maximum tidal shift - rise and fall. Brisk flow in that river on a normal day & have had a lot of rain recently so water was already moving along at a good pace.

Hit it with enough kinetic energy to knock the load-bearing pylon out from under the highway - which fatally weakens the span and then 50 percent of the bridge fell into the water.

All these factors when you look at it  - this is how you teach people how to do this type of attack and there are so few people left in the system who know this. We have a Junior varsity team on the field.

Tremendous navigational obstruction. Huge logistical nightmare to clean this up. The number of dead is tragic but not the whole measure of the attack.

That kind of bridge is constantly under repair - always at night because there is so much traffic and they cannot obstruct that during the day. So concern is for repair guys who were on foot (out of their vehicles) working who may now be in the water - 48 degrees at most at this time of year.

When you choke off Baltimore you have cut the main north-south hazardous corridor (I-95) in half. Now everyone has to go around the city - or go somewhere else.

To move some of that cargo through the tunnel you may be able to get a permit but those are slow to get and require an escort system that is expensive and has to be done at night.

For every $100 dollars that goes into the city, $12 comes from shipping. Believe this will cripple the city of Baltimore at a time when they do not have the resources to recover.

Stan receives a postcard from his twin brother - who he’s not seen in a decade - asking for his help. But like with everything else in his life, he runs into some trouble on his way there

6. epilogue // it’s all the same anyways

Ford was sat on the couch warming his hands on the propane heater Stan had dragged through for them - he really needed to get his heating bill sorted. The seat next to him dipped as Stan sank into it, handing him an opened bottle of beer.

“Cheers.”

They chinked the bottoms of the bottles together.

“I was talking to Fids earlier,” Stan started, “Him and Emma-May are working out custody stuff. They reckon Oregon and California are too far to do weekends or anything, but they were thinking maybe Tate cold spend the summer here. ‘Pparently he’s a pretty outdoorsy kid - we could take him on some more child-friendly adventures?”

“I don’t see why not - we managed to find the Jersey Devil without any adult intervention, perhaps a child’s point of view could be beneficial to our research.”

“Sounding awful close to child labour there, Pointdexter.”

Ford waved him off. “Speaking of research, I acquired the books from the library I mentioned yesterday.”

Stan laughed. “Still can’t believe you had to steal library books - or that you have a lifetime ban!”

“There were extenuating circumstances!”

“Sure there were, Sixer. Just accept that you’re just as much a criminal as the rest of us Pineses.”“At least I’m in good company. Anyway, it’s a bit dense to get through but- here,” he handed Stan an open book documenting all the laws and by-laws of Gravity Falls, dating back to it’s founding, pointing out the correct subsection. “There’s some rather odd laws in here and a lot of them never seem to have been over-turned, which is good news for us.”

He watched his twin squint at the page, trying to read the small text on thin paper.

“Here,” he pulled his glasses off his face, proferring them to Stan.

“I don’t need no nerd glasses, Ford.” Stan tried to push him away.

“That book is two inches from your face, just-” he shoved the glasses onto his twin’s face.

“Oh.” Stan blinked a couple times, pulling the book away to a more reasonable distance. His mouth moved slightly as he parsed through the text. “So basically, according to this law from eighteen whatever, twins are just two halves of the same person, and both hafta be accused of committing the same crime before either can be tried for it?”

“I- yes. How did you understand that so quickly? It took me thirty minutes to read that page.”

Stan shrugged. “It’s just English, Sixer.”“That is not English, that is legalese and whoever invented it deserves their own personal nightmare dimension.”

“Eh, lawyers are just another flavour on con-man. Like I said, you just gotta know how they think.”

“Well from my understanding, as long as you are a permanent resident of Gravity Falls, any past records of your crimes should be null and void.” Ford looked down at his beer, playing with it in his hands. “There’s still a lot of research for me to do here to work on my Unified Theory of Weirdness, and was wondering if- I know you said you would stay until the summer, but I was thinking that perhaps, if you weren’t opposed-”

“I’d love to stay.”

Ford looked over to Stan sat next to him. “I know it’s not the Stan O’ War and I can’t promise any treasure-”

“Ford.” Stan smiled at him. “It was never about the boat, or the treasure, or even the adventures really. It was about being here with you.”

The two relaxed back into the couch, sitting in a comfortable quiet.

“I’m glad you wrote me that postcard.”

“And I’m glad you called. Now all I have to worry about is the guy coming to steal my eyes.”

Stanley sprayed his beer over the floor in front of them.

“What?!”

If I made every video for a mix the way I made this one, I'd have a new video every week or so, but I would also have no life.

Over the last few years I've made plenty of mixes that I've just never shown or really published. And of all those mixes, there are a lot of mashups that I think I really knocked out of the park! But thinking about making videos for all of those mixes is super daunting... So, I decided to think about it another way - why don't I make a mix that includes all these top notch mashups, plus some new ones, and put /that/ on the internet for people to enjoy?

This mix project started at the beginning of November and I finished tweaking the audio just after Christmas. The video took only a few days of work, but I'm an idiot for crunching on this the way I did. I was motivated for whatever reason to get it out by New Year's if I could.

Hmm, lots of them. Propane Nightmares by Pendulum reminds me of driving with my car's top down in the middle of the night on the way home from work when I was 17 and much more carefree. The maybe-generic This Year by the Mountain Goats helped me through early transition. The entirety of Boards of Canada's Tomorrow's Harvest shaped who I am as a person

31. Free pass - How did you first discover you're a sadist?

I've always been a bit of a nuisance. I annoy my friends for a few laughs, personal or group or otherwise, in minor ways. And I'm a bit of a control freak in real life, too - mildly pathological need to be in the driver's seat of situations. It wasn't too much mental gymnastics to figure out I was a domme, but the sadism part grew pretty rapidly out from there. Marks are beautiful, moans of pain are music, and masochists are altars to my own will.

See, here's the thing, I never really associate music with any of my theriotypes. Animalistic species specifically. I get into an animalistic mindset by being in nature or acting out instincts, and music (or any other form of art) is going to take me out of that, especially if there's lyrics. There's no bird music to me, no bug music or mustelid music. I just don't associate it, positively or negatively. I guess no, to answer your question. To be in an isopod shift I'd rather be by the ocean or eat foods similar to what we eat in the wild (seaweed salad I guess), since that's what feels the most animalistic to me. Especially for isopod shifts, an animal that does not have a traditional chordate's sense of hearing, I'm not going to vibe with music. I'd share MyNoise generators that have those vibes for me before any songs.

Music-related shifts for me are all about the sapient kintypes, i.e. computer, Novakid, or fictotypes. But I liked this particular ask meme's music question because it differentiated songs, bands, and genres! And I love to talk genre so!

Coincidentally, today (after reblogging that!) I just happened upon a song I didn't know about before, from a band with only 1 album and 10 listeners on Spotify, only available for streaming on a single website in the depths of the obscure music Internet, which catapulted me into a Novakid shift, so here's that, obviously

But I feel like I've listed those songs a million times and never mentioned that genres in general are what "computer kintype music" is for me. My computer kintype is an IBM 7090 so I heavily associate it with 1970s electronic music particularly, so that playlist is a lot of vintage electronica, Space Art, Mort Garson, moog synths, songs with Casio instruments, and recent stuff that takes inspiration from that era like Eyeliner, Jack Stauber, MNQN, and certain synthwave artists. I also associate it a lot with computer animation (pre-Disney-Pixar) so that's a lot of vaporwave and also every soundtrack album for all the Mind's Eye films (those are by James Reynolds, Jan Hammer and Thomas Dolby). I've never been able to find a really good version online of the song from Fabricated Rhythm, which I think is just called Fabricated Rhythm, but I like that too.

Post-punk reminds me of autumn/whatever my weird cryptic kintype is that's associated with the season, but maybe that's just because I'm happiest in fall and I love post-punk. However if anyone can help explain why Figure In the Background by Snake Pool gives me species euphoria lmk
