Hey Tracy! Have you heard about the new Ai called Sora? Apparently it can now create 2D and 3D animations as well as hyper realistic videos. Iâve been getting into animation and trying to improve my art for years since I was 7, but now seeing that anyone can create animation/works in just a mare seconds by typing in a couple words, itâs such a huge slap in the face to people who actually put the time and effort into their works and itâs so discouraging! And it has me worried about whatâs going to happen next for artists and many others, as-well. Thereâs already generated voices, generated works stolen from actual artists, generated music, and now this! Itâs just so scary that itâs coming this far. ďżź
Yeah, I've seen it. And yeah, it feels like the universe has taken on a 'fuck you in particular' attitude toward artists the past few years. A lot of damage has already been done, and there are plenty of reasons for concern, but bear in mind that we don't know how this will play out yet. Be astute, be justifiably angry, but don't let despair take over. --------
One would expect that the promo clips that have been dropping lately represent some of the best of the best-looking stuff they've been able to produce. And it's only good-looking on an extremely superficial level. It's still riddled with problems if you spend even a moment observing. And I rather suspect, prior to a whole lot of frustrated iteration, most prompts are still going to get you camera-sickness inducing, wibbly-wobbly nonsense with a side of body horror.
Will the tech ultimately get 'smarter' than that and address the array of typical AI giveaways? Maybe. Probably, even. Does that mean it'll be viable in quite the way it's being marketed, more or less as a human-replacer? WellâŚ
A lot of this is hype, and hype is meant to drive up the perceived value of the tech. Executives will rush to be early adopters without a lot of due diligence or forethought because grabbing it first like a dazzled chimp and holding up like a prize ape-rock makes them look like bleeding-edge tech geniuses in their particular ecosystem. They do this because, in turn, that perceived value may make their company profile and valuations go up too, which makes shareholders short-term happy (the only kind of happy they know). The problem is how much actual functional value will it have? And how long does it last? Much of it is the same routine we were seeing with blockchain a few years ago: number go up. Number go up always! Unrealistic, unsustainable forever-growth must be guaranteed in this economic clime. If you can lay off all of your people and replace them with AI, number goes up big and never stops, right?
I have some doubts. ----------------------
The chips also haven't landed yet with regards to the legality of all of this. Will these adopters ultimately be able to copyright any of this output trained on datasets comprised of stolen work? Can computer-made art even be copyrighted at all? How much of a human touch will be required to make something copyright-able? I don't know yet. Neither do the hype team or the early adopters.
Does that mean the tech will be used but will have to be retrained on the adopter's proprietary data? Yeah, maybe. That'd be a somewhat better outcome, at least. It still means human artists make specific things for the machine to learn from. (Watch out for businesses that use 'ethical' as a buzzword to gloss over how many people they've let go from their jobs, though.)
Will it become industry standard practice to do things this way? Maybe. Will it still require an artist's sensbilities and oversignt to plan and curate and fix the results so that it doesn't come across like pure AI trash? Yeah, I think that's pretty likely.
If it becomes standard practice, will it become samey, and self-referential and ultimately an emblem of doing things the cookie-cutter way instead of enlisting real, human artists? Quite possibly.
If it becomes standard industry practice, will there still be an audience or a demand or a desire for art made by human artists? Yes, almost certainly. With every leap of technology, that has remained the case. ------------------ TL;DR Version:
I'm not saying with any certainty that this AI blitz is a passing fad. I think we're likely to experience a torrential amount of generative art, video, voice, music, programming, and text in the coming years, in fact, and it will probably irrevocably change the layout of the career terrain. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was being overhyped as a business strategy right now. And I don't think the immensity of its volume will ever overcome its inherent emptiness.
What I am certain of is that it will not eliminate the innate human impulse to create. Nor the desire to experience art made by a fellow soul. Keep doing your thing, Anon. It's precious. It's authentic. It will be all the more special because it will have come from you, a human.

David and Michael in the interview with Ali Plumb for BBC Radio 1, 10th July 2023
I compared it with it's podcast version and there are some bits that are cut out in the video đ but I added them into the transcript ⤠đđ .
AP: If you're thinking I'm the kind of guy that rocks up to a Good Omens interview with...
Michael: With the book.
David: Oh, well done.
Michael: We'd be correct.
AP: Yeah.
[GOS2 Promo]
AP: So after such a successful and well received first series, what gives you guys?
David: Why risk it?
AP: Why risk it.
Michael: What gives you the right?!
AP: What gives you the cojones to do another one?
Michael: I know.
AP: How dare you?
Michael: It's terrible. When I wrote it.... Well, no, I mean, that's the thing, really, I mean, it's Neil and Terry's baby. And we'd always known that they'd gone beyond the world of the first book. In fact, there's stuff that's not in the first book, in the first series. So Gabriel is a character, you know, who's not there. So we'd always known that there was a lot more.
David: The ideas, the threads.
Michael: Exactly. And they even had a name for a sequel. 668: The Neighbour of the Beast. Which is hilarious.
[A cut out part that is not in the video, but you can listen to in the podcast version of it:
AP: Just take, write the joke and then work it out later.
Michael: The best Good Omens joke isn't even in the Good Omens book.
David: Yeah.
Michael: And so we knew there was all that. So I think given that, that gave certainly us the confidence to know that we were in, you know, safe hands.
David: Yeah.
Michael: And I think gave Neil the sense that it was worth exploring, going further, because I think without that, he would never have done it. If he didn't feel that Terry was part of that ride as well, then I don't think he would have gone on it.
]
AP: At the risk of reading from the scripture, this is what's in the hardback copy of Good Omens: 'Why isn't there a sequel? Neil: Well, we know how the sequel goes. We played around with the idea whilst we were on tour. We even discussed a few scenes, but we could never quite work up the enthusiasm. It'd have been fun. We'd split the cash. But we both had other things to do'.
Michael: Yes. It's very much how we felt, isn't it? We'll split the cash.
David: Yeah.
AP: And run.
Michael: You know, and if we got nothing else on.
David: Well, yeah.
Ap: And you kind of enjoy each other's company?
Michael: I mean, enjoy is a strong word.
David: We're very good at faking it.
AP: Actors. I love it.
David: Yeah, exactly, exactly.
Michael: Yeah, exactly.
AP: When, outside of a show's context or the film's context, have you felt physically, visually the silliest? Because I think in this show there have to be moments. Green screen, full orange wig hair, that you go, no one take a photo of me right now.
David: The opening scene of Season Two is set in space and we're dressed as sort of old fashioned-
Michael: That makes it sound like sort of an episode of Blakes 7 or something, it's not Sci-Fi space, is it?
David: There's nothing wrong with that.
Michael: No, there's nothing... I mean I love it.
David: Jesus,
AP: Are you stepping up saying Sci-Fi's rubbish at this-
Michael: No, no, no! Of course not! No. But what I'm saying is-
David: I don't know who this is
Michael: David is making it sound like it's like Aziraphale and Crowley are in a rocket ship.
David: It is set in space!
Michael: Well, yeah.
David: First series set in space! You can't... it's just factual.
Michael: But not like space 1999.
David: Just space.
AP: It's pure, undiluted space.
David: It's set in space. In fact, it is undiluted space. And for that, we were dressed as a traditional angel in a sort of nighties...
Michael: Yes, we weren't in silver spandex.
David: We were in nighties.
Michael: We were.
David: And we were strapped to make this floating in space - and they didn't have this on Blakes 7 - we were strapped onto these gurneys and moved up and down.
[hehe bonus pic :)]
Michael: I had a jetpack.
[again, cut out in the video but present in the podcast version
David: I mean, it looks beautiful. The finished, the finished piece.
Michael: It was very odd, wasn't it? Yes. We were both sort of just like.
David: Yes.
Michael: Hovering around each other.
David: And it was, it was ignoble. Some of the being strapped in and out.
Michael: It was. Yeah.
]
AP: At least it's not Jon Hamming into a room... full Hamm.
[GOS2 Promo]
[again, cut out in the video but present in the podcast version
David: The naked Hamm? The naked Hamm was... yeah. He seemed pretty...
Michael: He seemed very relaxed.
AP: He insisted on spending more scenes in that costume.
]
Michael: That was never in the script.
David: No, he just turned up on set.
Michael: That's how he showed up.
David: I had an idea, guys!
Michael: Yes. No, there's lots to look forward to.
AP bursts out laughing: Sorry.
Michael: And lots to look back on.
AP: This second series, having a little bit more wiggle room in terms of where you might be able to take the characters, I think it's fair enough to say. Do you feel more active input.
[again, cut out in the video but present in the podcast version
AP: Into where they might go? Because to me, they strike as having a very strong Woody and Buzz factor of...
David: Right.
AP: Bear with me here. You're both not very good at your jobs.
David: How dare you?
AP: It's true. One's no angel. One's far from evil.
David: That's true.
AP: And you kind of are fudging it constantly.
]
AP: Do you feel you have more room to kind of fudge here and fudge there and really muck about with the characters now?
Michael: I mean, I every day when we start, I like to first of all say, Neil, I've got no interest in hearing what you're going to say. This is what I think should happen.
David: Yeah.
Michael: I mean, the thing is, when you've got Neil Gaiman writing it-
David: Yeah.
Michael: -you should have just go, off you go, mate.
David: The last thing you want to do is start putting in your ideas. You don't want to limit anything that's going to come out.
Michael: It's like brain. It's like when Ringo says, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
AP: Yesterday, I have notes.
Michael: Listen, listen to what I've come up with.
AP: There's too much guitar in this.
David: Yeah.
AP: More drums.
David: Yeah.
Michael: Yeah. I think one of the things about Neil that is so wonderful is that he is so open and generous with ideas,
David: Yes.
Michael: and he's so not precious about what he's written. He is very respectful of what he and Terry created and is probably a bigger fan than any other fan, but he's not precious about it and he's very open to collaboration. In fact, he's probably the most collaborative
David: Yes.
Michael: I'd ever come across in my life.
David: Yes, absolutely.
Michael: So he loves watching what other people bring to the table, not just actors, but, you know, designers, everyone. And then I think he takes from that and is influenced by that. So it's very collaborative in that sense.
David: Yes. But if we influenced where the characters went in season two, it was sort of circumstantially.
AP: Right.
Michael: Yeah.
David: It was sort of by the act of what happened during season one and getting to know Neil and getting to know each other. But the great joy for us is turning up to these wonderful scripts and going, oh, I get to take this character here now. What a lark.
[again, cut out in the video but present in the podcast version
Michael: I mean, I wrote some very stern emails to him.
David: Yeah.
Michael: Which I was glad to see that he totally ignored.
AP: Screen time for me.
Michael: Yes, exactly.
AP: I like to think the 'I was right, or rather, you were right and I was wrong' dance was organic in the moment, not in the script. And could you give us a quick how might I recreate that beautiful...
David: Absolutely not. No. I worked with the choreographer for some days.
Michael: It's true.
David: Yeah.
Michael: It's true. And am I right in saying that... I wonder if this exists? But when we were filming it, didn't I, on the last take, I made you do it once with you thinking that you were doing it for real, but actually it wasn't for real. It was just so I could do.
David: It was so you could have-
Michael: So I could Strictly Come Dancing [british dance contest]-
David: Exactly that. Does it exist? I think it does exist.
Michael: It must have actually built... I had cards made with scores on them and David, God bless him, came in and did the whole thing again, thinking that he was doing it for the filming. And in fact, it was literally just so at the end I could go, 'SEVEEEEEEN'! [It was filmed, hehe, see here :)]
David: Yeah. But I don't want Amazon to think we're wasting your production...
AP: Money and time. No.
David: And it will show up on a blooper reel somewhere.
Michael: There was no film. There was no film.
AP: It was definitely not a waste of time. No, absolutely not.
]
AP: What would you say the fans have responded most to from the first series when you meet them at comic cons or on social media or what have you? Are there moments from the first series where they love talking about that scene?
Michael: Well, I think people really enjoy the going through history stuff, don't they? I mean, we thoroughly.
David: We certainly do. There's just something about the characters and their relationship, though, that seems to have just caught fire. I mean the amount of...
APÂ :I wonât read some ot the stories Iâve glanced upon.
David: Right.
AP: Yes. Fanfiction is quiteâŚ.
David: Oh, I see. Oh that is not for us to read.
Michael: Oh I read it all.
AP: Oh you should. You write most of it, right?
Michael: I write most of it.
David: But it's lovely to see. And I have seen more than I can count. Aziraphale and Crowleys showing up. People dressed and always in twos, always in pairs.
Michael: Yes.
David: You know, and that's lovely. And that seems to absolutely encapsulate what the whole show is about, I think.
AP: Tattoos, fan art.
David: Definitely, yes. Seen a couple of tattoos.
Michael: Yeah.
AP: Yeah. Do you get fans in the street quoting lines or just pointing and staring? Because you two together can't really walk down the street.
David: Michael doesn't walk anywhere.
Michael: Those days are long gone.
AP: Jackpack.
David: Yeah.
Micheal: Yeah.
AP: Yeah, that's fair.
Michael: Well, I get a lot of âTo the worldâ.
David: Oh, yes. Nice.
Michael: People like to⌠yeah.
David: Yeah.
Michael: And 'You go too fast, Crowley.â
David: Ooh.
Michael: Thereâs a lot of that. That gets jumped around.
AP: What about... and this is a kind of BAFTA winning question, so just send it my way.
David: Wow.
AP: Would you say these characters are in your top three most fun characters you've ever played? Because they strike me as being... I'd probably play these characters forever if I could.
Michael and David: Yeah.
Michael: This is like on what's that show when people have to say whether they want to date each other again? You go first. Top three?
David: I mean...
AP: Number two...one?
David: It'd be a weird scenario to say it wasn't.
AP: Yeah, I agree.
David: In this situation.
AP: Yeah.
David: To start something: well, I mean, it's sort in the little twenties. But... No, we did have an irresponsible amount of fun.
Michael: Yes. Not really like working.
AP: No.
Michael: I mean, I very much hope that we eventually get to, in one way or another, in one form or another,
David: Yeah.
Michael: get to play them just very, very old. And it may well be... I mean, we joke about doing a theatrical tour.
AP: And swapping.
David: I'm not joking. I'm not joking about that.
Michael: No.
David: It's a lovely little retirement plan.
Michael: I know.
AP: I'm dead keen on Good Omens 666. I think...
Michael: Oh!
AP: It's just there.
Michael: Yes.
David: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
AP: Think about it. Post apocalyptic...
Michael: Part, like Good Omens 1, 2, 3, all the way up to 666. I mean, that's a long running series. That's longer than Frasier.
AP: Big words. If a bad joke's worth telling. 666.
Michael: Telling over and over again.
AP: Over and over and over.
David: Yeah.
AP: Guys, I'm going to ask you one last favour as I wrap things up, which is I have at the front of this book, one Mr. Neil Gaiman.
[shows a copy of Good Omens signed by Neil Gaiman].
AP: He signed it and he said as he often does: Ali, have a good doomsday. Would you care to deface?
Michael: I heard the other day that someone went to interview George Harrison and the person who interviewed him said, would you mind signing this record? Whatever it know, the white album, whatever. And he went, do you want them all? And they used to all write each other's name, all sign each other's names.
David: Wow.
Michael: Because they had to do it so much.
David: Do you want to do mine?
Michael: Just get Neil to do that.
AP: Could you please sign as your man? I'll be very lucky.
Michael: On a different page.
AP: You pick your own page, deface as you will.
Michael: Yeah. Look at that. I do a little halo.
David: Oh, that's given me an idea.
Michael: Oh look at that, yeah.
AP: And then while I'm here, I'm going to do the super unprofessional thing of asking for a photograph, if that's allowed.
David: Yeah.
Michael: Oh, look at that.
David: That's perfect.
Michael: That's nice, isn't it?
AP: Beautiful. Would you mind helping me out?
David: Do you see what we've done there, Ali?
AP: Oh, thank you!
Michael: And yours is D for...
AP: I'm going to kneel behind you.
David: Sure.
Michael: I thought I should turn my M into wings.
David: Oooh.
Michael: This is, this is...
AP: Guys, as you may have worked out, big fan.
David: Cheers, Ali.

Join us for the next chapter of NEON LIGHTS premiering Wednesday
(Donât miss updates every Wednesday & Saturday for NEON LIGHTS, an original character fanfic. Chapters & Special Extras found on the masterlist.)
IMANI INVITES YOU TO READ HER DIARY By: Vanessa Lawton JAN. 2026
Itâs been a year since Imani St. Cirie, the sultry and enigmatic singer-songwriter, made headlines for her surprise EP release, Diary. In the following months, she became an awards show darling. Winning Billboard, AMAs, and even a BRIT Award. It all culminated in a Grammy win in Best R&B Song for the top ten Billboard hit, Kitchen. But since then? Nothing. We sit down with the superstar to find out exactly what's on the horizen.
Exuding a quiet confidence, Imani sits opposite me in the PAPER magazine headquarters. It's a simple interview, one that shouldn't take more than an hour or so but she makes herself comfortable. Imani, dressed in a HOESMAD cropped tee, baggy cargo jeans, and black and white pair of Bathing Apes, thereâs a softness to her demeanor that suggests it's been a long year for the superstar. "It's been a year of unexpected successes. I really didn't expect for Diary to be that successful, but I'm grateful. I think it did what it needed to do."
From the heartbreak that inspired her latest EP to the unexpected that has helped her heal, sheâs unflinchingly honest. "Love is tough. It's complicated. I don't think it's meant to be easy, but whatever is real, you'll fight for it. No matter what."
This is a different Imaniâone whoâs no longer defined by her past but empowered by it. And as she prepares to step back into the spotlight, itâs clear that sheâs not just reclaiming her voiceâsheâs rewriting her story.
VL: Diary was a huge success last year. How did it feel to see it resonate so deeply with your fans? Imani: âItâs so crazy because I just released that EP to let all these emotions I felt out. I never thought that so many people would like it. Like damn, yâall really fuck with me.â
VL: Your lyrics often feel deeply personal. Do you find it difficult to share so much of yourself through your music?
Imani: âNo. Music is a release for me. I use my songwriting as a way to get everything out. The hardest part for me is releasing it to the world because like you said it is deeply personal.â
VL: Whatâs been the most rewarding moment in your career over the past year?
Imani: âWhen I won a Grammy for âKitchen,â like wow. Iâm still in shock about that.â
VL: Fans have speculated about the themes of Diary. Was it inspired by personal experiences?
Imani: âYes, but all my art is. Where else am I supposed to draw inspiration from?â
VL: You and James Lucas have a shared history in music. Do you think youâll ever collaborate?
Imani: âI donât knowâŚthatâs a question he should probably answer.âÂ
VL: Whatâs next for you musically? Can fans expect a full album soon?
Imani: âI wouldnât say soon! Iâve been so busy with videos and promo for Diary that I havenât gotten a chance to go to the studio but Iâm always writing and I want to release something next year.âÂ
VL: Youâve been linked to several high-profile individuals this year. How do you handle the constant media scrutiny of your personal life?
Imani: âI try to ignore it because the media tends to think they know everything about Imani but I promise you they donât know even know a quarter of me. So I try not to let it bother me.âÂ
VL: Youâve been very private about your relationships lately. Is that intentional?
Imani: âYes, because itâs no oneâs business but my own. After my relationship with my ex, I think Iâm owed some privacy.â
VL: Whatâs been the biggest lesson youâve learned about yourself in the past year?
Imani: âThat itâs okay to sit in your sorrow sometimes. No matter how much you try, you canât run from it. You canât hide from it. So itâs okay to sit and wallow for a little bit.âÂ
VL: Youâve spoken before about the importance of self-care. What does that look like for you now?
Imani: âRight now? It looks like a day off with sleeping in, a bubble bath with a seaweed face mask, some pasta and a marathon of Sex and the City. I know that ainât yâall ideal self-care but itâs mine.âÂ
VL: What role has your family or close friends played in supporting you this year?Â
Imani: âMy aunt has been the most vital part to Diaryâs rollout. I told her what I wanted to do and what publications I wanted to. She handled it all for me.âÂ
VL: Are there any misconceptions about you that youâd like to clear up?
Imani: âNah, take what you heard about me and double that shit!âÂ
VL: Whatâs one thing fans would be surprised to learn about you?
Imani: âThat Iâm really a happy person. They always coming up to me, asking me if Iâm okay because they heard such-and-such song and are concerned but guys, I promise yâall Iâm fine.âÂ
VL: How do you handle creative blocks or moments of doubt in your career?
Imani: âI try to write through it. Like even if the lyric is trash as fuck, I write it out just so I can get it out of my head.âÂ
VL: If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Imani: âEverything will be okay. I know things are looking bleak right now but you will be fine! Crashing out all the time ainât worth it, girl.âÂ
The late afternoon sun was starting to set but a few rays spilled through the wide windows of Jamesonâs New York brownstone, casting golden streaks across the hardwood floors. He sat at his kitchen table, the picture of comfort. T-shirt, jogging pants, no socks. The room was quiet, except for the occasional hum of the city outside. A glass of water sat untouched on the table beside him. His phone lay in his hand, the screen glowing with the headline of an article he hadnât been prepared to see.
Imani Invites You to Read Her Diary
He stared at the cover for a long moment, his thumb hovering over the link. She looked gorgeous, the picture of perfection. Her eyes carried a calm he hadnât seen in them before. Maybe he was imagining it but she looked...like she was thriving without him. He felt his chest tighten. It had been a full, agonizing year since heâd seen her. Since sheâd walked out of his life. And now, here she was, staring back at him from his screen like a ghost that refused to stay buried.
He finally tapped the link, the words unfolding before him like a slow unraveling of a wound he thought had begun to heal.
"After my relationship with my ex, I think I'm owed some privacy." sheâd said. He read those words over and over, the simplicity of them cutting deeper than he expected but she was right. They were high profile in the best ways but also in some of the worst ways. She deserved to keep her cards close to her chest. It didn't stop the blogs from talking about her...and Amir. And Vivienne. He'd seen photographic proof that she had moved on. It seemed that space had finally evolved to over for her.
His eyes scanned the article, taking in her reflections on the past year. She spoke of growth, of self-care, of understanding herself. There was a brief mention of him but she didn't dwell. Part of him was proud of her.
Jameson leaned back against the chair and waited for deep mournful pain to hit him. It always did when he imagined the rest of his life without her...but remarkably, it didn't come. He felt hurt when she had moved on. He drank and closed himself off, eventually began therapy when his grief had taken a worrying turn, and even moved across the country to get away from his feelings for her. After a year of pouring his emotions into his music and six months into some semblance of a relationship with Camille -- Jameson had finally stopped grieving.
He still loved her, that much was clear. But he had finally accepted that their lives wouldn't merge again. He could read the article about her, feel the pain, and then...simply trust in the knowledge that she was happy.
His doorbell rang and the sound startled him, pulling him from his thoughts. He set the phone down, the screen dimming as he stood. For a brief moment, he considered not answering, but the ringing came again.
He hadn't been expecting anyone. Still, he got up and tried to leave thoughts of Imani in his kitchen -- and was met by the image of a pretty brunette on his front stoop.
Camille Lefevre.
Her long, brown hair was pulled up into a topknot, her usual style when she wasn't strutting down runways or covering magazines. If you passed her on the street, her beauty would be obvious and you'd immediately know she was a supermodel.
They met at an afterparty, amid his emotional spiraling. Imani was on her second new relationship in six months. He watched with envy, a sick gnawing in his gut. He hadnât been able to escape updates. It ate him up to see her move on when he seemed stuck in a rut. His mother had been so concerned that she damn near moved into his home until he moved to New York. To stop her from coming with him, he promised to start therapy. He started going out more -- though he didn't enjoy it.
Camille had seen through his disgruntled demeanor. She made him laugh at a time when people didnât even get to see him smile. She was bold, kind, driven. She wanted him and she was going to have him. Casual sex, late-night conversations, and dinner dates followed over the next few months when either of them had the time. They didnât give it a name but it was something.
Jameson opened the door to find her holding a bag of takeout and wearing that bright, effortless smile heâd grown to appreciate. She was a steady presence in his life, a warm light that had helped guide him through some of his darkest moments. But right now, standing in front of her, he felt the weight of the article still pressing on his chest.
"Hey," she said, stepping inside and leaning up to kiss his cheek. "I figured you probably forgot to eat, so I brought reinforcements."
Jameson forced a smile. "That's cute. She came to feed me."
"Well, someone has to." She tossed over her shoulder before heading into the kitchen. She set the bag on the counter and began unpacking containers, chattering away about the upcoming party for his album, excitement evident in her voice. Jameson tried to focus, nodding and murmuring responses where appropriate, but his mind kept drifting back to Imaniâs words.
Camille turned to him, her brows furrowing slightly. "You okay? You seem...distracted."
Jameson hesitated, the truth caught somewhere between his chest and his throat. His first instinct was to lie to her but he heard his therapist clear in his mind. 'Is this lie protecting you, or is it holding you back?' He sighed and told her the truth. "I read an article today. About Imani."
He looked at her then, really looked at her. She was kind, patient, and always there when he needed her. She deserved his honesty, but he wasnât sure how to give it to her without hurting her.
Camilleâs expression softened, though a flicker of something unreadable passed through her eyes. "Oh."
She knew about him and Imani. Who didn't. When they first began, he tried to disconnect from Camille -- knowing he was still caught up on Imani but she let him know that she understood. She was taking a risk with him. It gave him the courage to take the same risk.
"It...caught me off guard," he continued, setting his chopsticks down. âI didnât expect to see her face, to read about her life like that. I...It stung a little."
Camille nodded slowly, her hand resting on his. "Itâs okay to feel that way, you know. You love her. That doesnât just disappear overnight."
Jameson took a good look at her, lifting his hand from the counter and reaching up to brush a few tendrils of hair from her face. "It stung but it didn't...it didn't hurt me like I thought it would. I want her to be happy. Even if that's not with me. And I want to be happy with you."
Camille was quiet for a moment before she tilted her head, leaning against his hand. "You don't have to say that. It took a lot for you to get here. You've made a lot of progress. Feeling things for her doesn't erase that progress."
He wished she was a little less understanding. He wanted her to yell at him for feeling something for anyone other than her. That felt normal. But her simple acceptance of everything he was made him want to be more for her. Nothing he said or did would be good enough because he knew...she would always deserve more. She was getting half of a man. Why couldn't he just give her everything?
"I'm okay." "You are?" "Mhm. If I'm not, I will be. I'm with you. I'm good."
He watched her melt and felt proud that at least he'd gotten that right for her. Camille leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his temple. "I'm here for you, okay? Whatever you need."
"I know." he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm grateful."
As Camille returned to her food, Jamesonâs gaze drifted to his phone on the counter. He turned it face down, trying to push Imani out of his mind once again. But deep down, he knew it wasnât that simple. She was a part of him, no matter how much time passed or how far apart they were. And that realization was both comforting and excruciating.

hi sorry if this is a silly question! but iâve seen your art around and itâs amazing!! iâve been wanting to get into mcr for a bit because of it and i know nearly nothing about them (somehow) and it seems like they have a lot of, lore for lack of a better word. if you have any suggestions, where should i start? btw i adore ur style! :)
Hey!! this is such a fun question oh my god. And thank you so much, iâm so happy that you like my art!
ok so when you say you know nothing about them Iâm going to assume you mean like⌠absolutely nothing. after listening to the music i think youtube is a pretty good place to begin getting into the My Chemcial Romance Lore. very visual band. definitely watch the music videos on their channel if you havenât alreadyâany behind the scenes/making of videos, live performances, and promo videos on there are really great too. their tour diary/documentary Life on the Murder Scene is CRUCIAL. Some other nice ones to look at afterwards are mcr in the studio 2002, this WSOU interview, this 97x a look back with mcr series, this kevin smith smodcast... also anything from stevenâs untitled rock show or fuse tv for early stuff !!! mcrâs career can be split into 4 extremely distinct eras corresponding with each of their albums, so you can pretty much pick what youâre most into and investigate from there⌠some other fun ways to learn about them are searching up magazine scans/articles (AP, kerrang, and rock sound covered them a lot, plus SPIN and nme a bit), combing through my chemcial romance dot com on the wayback machine (their blog posts are a highlight), checking out fan zines and archives (lots on tumblr and also ig), and reading Books (off the top of my head i can think of Not the Life it Seems by tom bryant and Where are Your Boys Tonight by Chris Payne). Also the Killjoys comic series if you dig danger days đ. ok iâll stop there!!! this is mostly like⌠how to Find the lore, rather than the lore itself haha. i hope you find it helpful! anyone who wants to add on pls doâŚ

Why did the mukbang vid go up on dapg and not AmazingPhil? This is something they didnât mention in the video but I wonder - is dapg the channel for ALL their joint vids now? Itâs such a huge shift that started since they came back and I am curious as to why
basically, yeah.
they kinda mention it here and there, they talk a lot about where dnpg is going content-wise. also, dnpg is basically Phil's channel, it's the channel he is more focused on and the channel that gives him (them) more feedback than his (their) solo channel(s). and there's a lot of content on AP and dnpg that can be switched. and that's the moment where marketing starts playing a huge role when it comes to mukbang.
dnpg has a bigger audience to target. and it's not lost on dnp. this mukbang is essentially a promo for the tour. for a joint tour, so it's logical to put it on a joint channel "that isn't about gaming anymore", since it will also get more views than on AP. even promo of their solo projects is going on dnpg now if the other one is heavily involved (e.g. wad premiere). for the same reason, aka bigger audience, higher chance to sell tickets. and it's not bad! i'm so happy they are finally using dnpg for solo stuff and are treating it as a main platform to reach their audience. imagine if wad was promoted on dnpg from the beginning? we would have had flying cars by now.
#'the channel that gives him (them) more feedback than his (their) solo channel(s)' - i'm so lazy lmao. instead of making 2 sentences i just#do this crime#also. it's my opinion! the feeling i have. based on views. how they acted with wad. and what they have been saying#answered#mukbang

Road To The Kingdom - Before The Dawn YouTube Shorts
The three 'Before The Dawn' short films were created by Motherboard in association with 20th Century Fox, the studio running the Planet of the Apes films. They were aired as promos in the months before Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, meant to bridge the gap between Rise and Dawn. They focus on human survivors trying to make it through each day as society falls apart around them.
Spread Of Simian Flu takes place in Year 1 post-outbreak and features a family where the mother is locked in quarantine while the father and daughter visit her. The mother tries to be cheery for her daughter while the father lies about them having a safe place to live. It is bittersweet to see the family on both sides of the quarantine glass lying to the other to keep their spirits up. They hold onto hope for one another while searching for food and shelter.
Struggling To Survive is five years after the outbreak. The focus of this short is a woman and the boy in her care trying to survive while power begins to fail in the city. She finds luxury items and trades them for food and other necessities, thinking on how those she trades with are clinging to the past rather than planning for the future. This internal monologue is very condescending, a stark contrast to the strained but still present hope of the family in the first short. Perhaps that was the intent, showing the bitterness needed to survive as the years go on.
Story of the Gun covers a full decade through the fall of society. As the title states, a shotgun is the main character of this video as we follow it from human owner to owner through the years. We don't spend enough time with any one person to get attached to any particular character (though I do enjoy the conspiracy rambling guy, he gets a chuckle out of me) but the whirlwind of moving from person to person really conveys the chaotic feeling of the apocalypse. The ending, with the shotgun being abandoned at the feet of unseen apes, hints at the violence to come in Dawn, one that will lead to the film getting nicknamed as simply "The Apes Riding Horses With Guns Movie".
Motherboard also released a 15 minute documentary alongside the fictional shorts called The Real Planet Of The Apes, a true story that I'd never heard before: an island in Liberia where chimpanzees who were once laboratory test apes are the sole inhabitants and many humans fear to visit. Though not having anything to do with the fictional POTA, it is interesting to see apes interacting with humans. They are gentle and playful with humans they trust but can be aggressive to those they don't know, with locals telling tourists they will be killed if they go there. Major content warning for this short; it talks about and shows videos of real world ape testing and injuries, as well as human death/murder, starvation and violence. The good news is that, as of a 2022 article, the apes are still being cared for by the locals.
The video shorts are a fun little dive into the collapse of human society; personally I'll never pass up the opportunity to see that in fiction. They're good quality for being promotional videos on YouTube. The main downside is there is very little to make them stand out as being part of Planet Of The Apes. No apes are seen (which makes sense; they likely didn't have any budget for a CG ape), just alluded to through shadows and sound effects. Because of this, they feel pretty typical of any apocalyptic story without being entirely unique to the POTA franchise. But they're still well done, even eerier now after 2020 Covid lockdowns than when they first released in 2014. Watching all three fictional shorts back-to-back-to-back takes only 30 minutes so, even without any apes, they're a quick but enjoyable viewing experience.Â

Ok so
bden urie drunk history of fob was filmed on srar tour in 2013 and released a year and a half later in 2014 as promo for ab/ap
the gabe/pete cobra drunk history was filmed slightly in part as promo for cobrakkah / unreleased old cobra song in 2021 but the full video was never released
that video has since not been brought up again. gabe has gone on to reunite with midtown and tour again. no mention of cobra anywhere
which begs the question: why film a drunk history of cobra vid if it WASNT for cobrakkah and if cobra wasnt coming back?
BECAUSE. cobra is coming back. for the fob tour. And theyre going to release the drunk history vid as tour/album promo for the fob8 album cycle. and as a way to reintroduce the current/new generation of fans to cobra since theyve been inactive for as long as fob has been a band post-hiatus basically
but for now the case will remainâŚ..âŚ. unsolved

ANIME RECAP: NEWS VERSO L'INFINITO E OLTRE!
A mali estremi, estremi rimedi dunque!

I have a feeling they aren't finished with the lore. They're probably going to fill in the blanks in the months leading up to Coachella to build hype on tiktok, and most of the lore will make sense after that. This also makes me question whether or not they're planning a third video.
That's a good point. They'll probably continue with the promo/lore crumbs through the album release and into Coachella season lol. So I guess they still have time. I don't know about another video though. We technically got three this album (CI, Skinny Ape, Silent Running), and they said the story "concluded." But could they retcon something in the same phase? Of course! Lmao. So I guess I don't know what to believe.

OFFSCREENDEATH's 2024 REWIND
Film.
I think if I absolutely had to, I'd say "I Saw The TV Glow" was the best movie I've seen this year, but not because it was better than anything else I saw on a purely technical level. It just resonated very strongly with me emotionally, which is all I really care about when it comes to film, or art in general. I did want more -something- out of it, maybe because I was anticipating more of an action-genre element to come into play, since it reminded me a bit of Stranger Things from the little bit of promo and previews I saw before watching it.
I thought the horror/thriller aspect would be incorporated just a bit more than it was. In 2025 I would really like to watch more obscure/independent/art films, at least as many as the more big budget box office ones. I fear I won't be satisfied if I don't...because I don't believe what I'm looking for just isn't being made, but that it takes a bit more effort to find it. Lots of Horror this year, I'm honestly kinda burnt out on it. I have a feeling I'll get more than enough horror dealing with the incoming political shit show that's inevitably gonna go down.
Watched in 2024 (incomplete list):
Longlegs - In a Violent Nature - Terrifier 3 - The Substance - The Deliverance - Deadpool & Wolverine - Inside Out 2 - Cuckoo - Trap - Monkey Man - Civil War - Love Lies Bleeding - Alien: Romulus - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - Road House - Bad Boys: Ride or Die - Babes
TV.
This was a mediocre year of TV for me, especially when last year's releases seemed so excellent -- like I'm A Virgo, Survival of the Thickest, Bodies, The Changeling, Invasion, and more I'm probably forgetting.
I mostly ended up watching a lot of Dropout TV's series towards the end because I got tired of trying to wade through all the slop and 500 different reality TV shows to find something interesting. While it didn't come out this year, I very much enjoyed "Kevin Can F**k Himself". I also caught up with the new seasons of shows I was already watching, like "The Bear" and "The Boys", but both are sorta starting to lose their flavor (no pun intended). As far as TV goes, "Arcane," is definitely top my list as the best show out of all that I've seen this year, even though I absolutely HATE how Violet's arc ended, and I'm honestly not too big of a fan of the soundtrack either. Honorable mention goes to "3 Body Problem" for the premise and overall execution, as well as "Mr. And Mrs. Smith".
Anime.
Slow but interesting year for Anime, for me. I feel like (as with every year,) lots of good anime has come out that I either just didn't have time for or slipped under my radar when something else caught my attention. I have mixed feelings about it, but I pretty much enjoyed "Dan Dan Dan," and "Delicious In Dungeon" turned out to be way more interesting than I thought it would be. On the top of my list of anime to watch are "Frieren" and "Kaiju #8". I will probably be adding more. I heard "Shangri-la Fronteirs" is good, and I'll be checking out "Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction" too (what's with all these "D" heavy titles?)
Video Games.
Unfortunately I haven't been gaming recently because I haven't had a chance to get any systems and my computer is struggling as is just opening up new tabs. There's an arcade local to me that I've had a chance to visit a few times this year, but I haven't played anything that really stood out. I have a lottttt of catching up to do as far as gaming goes, and I don't anticipate I'll be able to catch up any time soon. I did play a lot of "Disco Elysium" and "Cult of the Lamb" earlier in the year/last year, which aren't "new" releases, but were definitely still fun. I want to play Baldur's Gate 3 and the Dragon Ball Z Sparking Zero really badly and they'll probably be one of my first purchases, among many others.
Books.
I wasn't gonna include this category because it's so sparse and I typically don't reblog or post book-related content -- I've only finished about 2 books this year because I kept buying more and more and starting them before finishing, a bad(?) habit of mine. I have read quite a few zines to completion, however, given that they require way less time and are usually quite portable. Since reviewing and running this blog isn't my job, and my day job requires a non-insignificant amount of mental focus and physical labor, by the time I get home and have time to myself I'm in the mood for more "lowbrow" entertainment that doesn't make me think too hard...though that feeling waxes and wanes. I've been dragging my feet through a few books in my rotation -- "Black Punk Now!", "Jesus and the Abolitionists", "How To Lose the Hounds", "The High Desert" currently have my attention, but my reading list has far, far outgrown my watchlist at this point, which I didn't even think was possible. It's sad that I only have one brain and pair of eyes, and so little time. I will absolutely read (AND FINISH!!!) more books in 2025...I won't leave the house without one.
#2024 recap#uploads#offscreendeath#film blog#I'll retroactively update this post and add more honorable mentions/jazz it up don't you worry!!!#movies#books#games#offscreenbekindrewind

DRAM u Knez Mihajlovoj, Beograd
Grupa Dram priredila pop up svirku u Knez Mihailovoj
Sada smo i mi to probali.
VIDEO: https://youtu.be/OTESi4QK5Rs?feature=shared
Kome se od vas Äetvorice najviĹĄe dopallo iskustvo "pop up" nastupa?
DRAM: âSvima nam je bilo zanimljivo, naroÄito zbog jednostavnosti- samo doÄeĹĄ, otvoriĹĄ kofer i poÄneĹĄ. Kada imaĹĄ koncerte u koncertnim dvoranama, sve to se odvija jako sporo, istovaranje opreme, tonska proba, presvlaÄenje. A ovde toga nema.
Dobitnicima nagrade ZaduĹžbine Milana MladenoviÄa (2029.) i priznanja âGODUM - Nove muziÄke nade Srbijeâ, biÄe ovo drugi samostalni beogradski koncert, nakon proĹĄlogodiĹĄnjeg veoma uspeĹĄnog, rasprodatog koncerta u Domu omladine Beograda. DRAM Äe izvesti pesme sa njihova dva studijska albuma âNeÄemo promeniti svetâ i âPreviĹĄe svegaâ, a ovoga puta imaÄe i goste.

As much as I love the new dnpg era we're in (and Im not complaining in the slightest) in the back of my brain I am finding it a bit strange that dan and phil are currently creating the exact content that for the last 5 years they (especially dan) have been saying they are tired of making. The whole "heres our sponsor, please hit the bell, like and subscribe!" Content. It feels very nostalgic right now, which I love, but also isnt necessarily sustainable. And the idea that they're only doing it to pay the bills on their house doesnt sit right with me either.
Im wondering if maybe theres a bigger picture. I feel like the gaming videos they are churning out are to sort of ease us in to a new era of dan and phil. If maybe they are playing a bit into the nostalgia of dan and phil, to gain back the audience that they lost after 5 years hiatus, so that then, they can slowly start to transform the content and the brand of dan and phil into something that better fits them as they are now. Because an abrupt change after 5 years of being gone, would honestly kind of mean they would have to almost start from scratch (bar the few thousand people that have been following them throughout), and honestly idk if an abrupt change would work for them either, bc even with dystopia daily, it was a cool idea, and not badly executed (apart from just kind of stopping halfway through) but it was also so different to anything else, that I think people found it really jarring, because it didnt really feel like the dan people were used to. I also dont know how well it really represented dan creatively anyway. I feel like bringing the gaming channel back, and also making it clear that its going to be different, its not specifically limited to games, is allowing them to take us with them on the journey of figuring out their new creative direction, rather than starting a few projects that get announced suddenly and then not going anywhere. It also means that when they are working on things behind the scenes that take months or even years to come into realisation, that can also just be cancelled at anytime, they are not banking on their audience just happily waiting with nothing to show for it, and can atleast still produce content that they enjoy and we enjoy, so that when dan inevitably does more standup or phil announces a project or they announce a new dan and phil project, it didnt come entirely from nothing.
Idk, basically i feel like the gaming channel is only the start of something bigger, and I dont think that bigger thing is them reverting back to 2016 dnp. Im interested to see.
oi, big asks bring so much pain ehfeliwdskd only because my answers usually are also big as fuck.
what i find interesting about this relaunch of dnpgames is that it's treated like the main place for joint content. what Dan said in the baking video can only mean that what was posted on AP channel or Dan's channel before, will now be on dnpgames. this gives them (Dan specifically) a way out of the dan and phil brand. it's like the joint branding exists outside and in parallel to their solo brands but doesn't intervene (it still does with AP but maybe it won't in the future). there's a better, more strict division between dnpgames + what's allowed on it and AP and their social media. it's so interesting to see how far they will go with it. they might bring back small portions of what they did before the hiatus (livestreams, dan vs phil, spooky week, gamingmas, game series and etc) but there will be new stuff as well. i wonder if the promo for all dnp brand related things will go on dnpgames now. before that, it was on Dan's channel (tours, books). i'm manifesting ladydoor tour 2.0 if the gaming channel thrives and there will be an audience to fill out the venues.
don't forget that Dan's decision to resurrect dnpgames allegedly came only in 2023 and because of his semi-flopped tour and difficulties with the dvd. no one wants to throw money into it, unfortunately. something happened in Edinburgh with BBC (wad related or not, hell knows). this dnpgames return is like a filler between solo projects (re: they are not banking on their audience just happily waiting with nothing to show for it). and it will be dropped the moment they are offered something serious. unless that something is gonna be precisely dnp brand related.
i don't think there's gonna be a huge change in the direction of dnpgames. we missed it how it was, Phil missed it because it allowed him to work with Dan and have fun. it can co-exist. i have an unpopular opinion maybe, but today's vibes are so unhinged. it's different from what it was before the hiatus, and i'm not talking about gay stuff. it feels like we're constantly running somewhere with them, and i don't like it. too much, too suddenly. and for someone who likes rewatching videos to find something new or just relax and laugh, it's a very uncomfortable schedule. and even dnp in the videos seem a bit frantic. plus different editing styles are visible, so it's like constantly jumping on a trampoline never knowing how high. i like consistency, so i need time to adjust? it's not a criticism, just an observation.
i think i have a bit different opinion to yours :) if it's the start of something bigger than only in the variety of content, but i don't think dnpgames will live for more than 3 years. 5 max. and this insane schedule will be dropped eventually. because it's unhealthy and EXACTLY why Dan backed out in 2018.
thank you for sharing your thoughts! let's see how it goes.
#sorry#i'm not even commenting on dd#because it goes along with wad and it's a whole separate convo that i've already touched 5 hundred times reuighdfes#answered#dnpgames#un-interactive-introvert
