salutations. would you like to explain the deal wktb the moth and compass guys they look very polite
moth and compass! the project I've been working on with @natdrinkstea this year-and-some!!
I believe I've introduced our dramatis personae — Moth, an Inquisitive Young Protagonist; Goodfellow, a Ghost; Luna, a Lighthouse-Keeper; and Peregrine, an Ordinary Cat — a few times before, but I still don't think we've every really talked about the story!
and that is because it has taken. quite some time to actually figure out what Goeth On in moth and compass proper. it's a mystery-fantasy, that'll probably be best told as a scrapbook or a puzzle game or a thing along those lines*, and a somewhat purposefully-nostalgic ghost story. it's everyday magic and the haunted sea and learning to look beyond what you think is there and bubblegum pop road trips and creepy creatures in the shadows and the kind of navigational equipment that, if you use it just right, might take you places you'd never otherwise be able to see...
#em draws stuff#oc time again hehe#moth and compass#the fool: moth worley#the lieutenant: chadwick goodfellow#the light keeper: luna maitland#the magician: peregrine#late august so it's time to swap moth back to their fall outfit... like a snowshoe hare growing in their winter coat...#there's some quotation about 'unimaginative soldiers' I read once - I think it was about claverhouse...#something along the lines of Stops Thinking Entirely If Given An Order and That is goodfellow down to the bones of him#which is. very amusing given that the essential genre of the thing he is in is a puzzle-book or possible a puzzle video game#does this answer the question. Not Sure. feel free to ask for more specific follow-up - I'm always down to chat but the thing is that m&c#is the most Vague out of all the various projects when it comes to precisely what and how it is!#*also of the strong belief that a moth and compass meow wolf installation would be so so so cool and good...

goddamn my brain is going brrrr now about making bunny tundra* adopts even tho i Can't
but if i did!!
the choices for "genes" would be self, agouti, point, and harlequin, exact colour regions pending bc aside from self i'd ideally want there to be 3 each. and of course the primary/secondary divide would still exist so you could have an adopt with self primary and harlequin secondary for example
terts? who knows. idk how many of them i could make work on something like this
regardless of terts i'd like to give the option to add a broken or "dutch" white marking on top of the whole thing
*based on tundras in that they'd have big fluffy manes so that the tiny wings aren't the only secondary region, but i'm not gonna stop anyone from ordering an adopt for any other breed of dragon
#chatter tag#terts mostly seem a lot less difficult to deal with than primaries and secondaries which is why i would consider them#eye types also! if you want your rabbits eyes to spit lightning who am i to stop you#deep sigh. adds this to my 'someday project' pile#agouti is a bastard word bc its both a mark and a colour group#but like. im simplifying so much here#when you start recolouring things in a simplified style a chinchilla is gonna be indistinguishable from a wideband anyway#same with tan/otter#dutch is in quotation marks bc its technically vienna? i think?? i still dont understand vienna#but im specifically referring to the very defined and iconic dutch rabbit mark here#vienna can do all sorts of funky shapes besides that

I finished reading Take Me For A Ride by Mark E. Laxer recently, and the whole thing is making me think of self-control as a virtue and how Frederick Lenz's idea of "enlightenment" is disturbingly divorced from self-control.
#it was appendix c in particular got me thinking about it#quoth lenz: 'i had no choice in the matter. as i have no choice in anything that happens anymore...'#and in a way the whole book is about laxer taking his self-control back from lenz#anyway it's a fascinating read and it's free on project gutenberg#live from the scriptorium#obligatory new religious movement rabbit hole tag#edit: i feel the need to add that i put quotations around 'enlightenment' not as a means of disrespecting buddhists#but rather because i don't think frederick lenz's idea of enlightenment is very in line with what i understand of buddhism

Is there a magic system in your oc setting?
kind of??? I'm still working out the logistics of that, though there's some kind of groundwork in regards to the literal fear Locke contains and is powered by (odd lookin red kind of anti-gravity substance, can be extracted and compressed. somehow. can you tell all my attention has gone to the characters themselves) and I'm thinking of applying that to all base-core emotions, emotions channeled into some really light magic or something.
Really, this thing is generally grounded besides the runes Locke got carved down their "spine" at some point that allows them to do some funky telekinesis things
#I don't know why I put spine in quotations#they do actually have an entire (albeit metal) skeleton#why? why not#(four friends on their respective teams building Locke were really passionate about this project and crafted a skeleton in their downtime)#(they were also the four who stuck around with Locke once they were powered on and showed them the ropes)#(even while it was warned against forming relations with Locke so their core focus is in protecting the fear they contain. Pi in particular#found that to be astoundingly dumb. Ze was one of the psychologists tasked on the AI in making Locke* as human as possible)#(which of course includes the need for social connection)#(Locke recalls the lot of them as aunt-and-uncle-like figures)#oc lore#my oc stuff#*[they weren't named Locke at the time]#thank you for the question :D

Seriously what so special about Daemon to be this popular? He is even more popular than Jon, Tyrion and Jaime lmaoo
Doctor Who is a cultural phenomenon worldwide. 😄 We're lucky David Tennant is not playing him, since he's the most popular Doctor.
#ask#anon#hotd critical [daemon]#i say 'lucky' with quotation marks bc matt smith is also a v good actor no doubt abt it#but had david tennant played daemon you wouldn't have been able to leave the house#the 10th doctor was a wholeass heartthrob#darkest timeline is david tennant as daemon and billie piper as rhaenyra#TRUST ME#whovians ARE a thing#and ppl who like DW are usually nerds into sci-fi and/or fantasy#so hotd/asoiaf would be a natural transition#it's the kind of fictional universe that attracts all kinds of geeks and allows for fangirling#in the same way that more 'serious' projects like The Crown do not#i have the theory that most people surprised by daemon's popularity are american and/or unfamiliar with DW#but there are deadass legions of former kids/teens/young adults out there for whom the 11th doctor was a formative experience

How Advanced Quotation Software Empowers SMEs in Control Panel Manufacturing
Introduction: In today’s competitive landscape, control panel manufacturers need solutions that streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve accuracy. We’re excited to share our latest feature on the PBSI (Panel Building & System Integration) Network, where our advanced quotation software, Quoteplan by Rutamsoft, is highlighted for its role in transforming manufacturing processes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Importance of Advanced Quotation Systems for SMEs: Traditional quotation methods in control panel manufacturing are often manual, error-prone, and time-consuming. These methods can lead to pricing errors, missed components, and delays, which negatively impact customer satisfaction and the company’s bottom line. The PBSI article emphasizes how an automated, intelligent system like Quoteplan provides the tools necessary for manufacturers to compete more effectively, increase profitability, and streamline workflows.
Key Features and Benefits of Quoteplan: The article provides an in-depth look at how Quoteplan addresses industry challenges:
Enhanced Accuracy & Efficiency: Manual errors are common in traditional quotation processes, often causing costly overruns and delays. Quoteplan automates these tasks, allowing for precise calculations and faster turnaround times, reducing the chance of errors and enabling quick responses to customer inquiries.
Improved Resource and Inventory Management: Inventory control and resource management are essential for maintaining production schedules. Quoteplan enables better tracking of inventory and resources, ensuring all components are accounted for and available as needed, minimizing disruptions.
Seamless Integration with Other Platforms: Quoteplan integrates with popular programs like Zoho, Microsoft, Google, Deltek, Sage, Zapier, Intuit, and QuickBooks. This reduces manual data entry and creates a smoother workflow, helping companies save time while minimizing errors.
User-Friendly Design for Easy Adoption: With a straightforward interface, Quoteplan is easy to learn, even for team members without prior experience in estimation software. This simplicity reduces training costs and enables faster adoption within the organization.
Flexible Pricing Options: The software’s subscription model allows businesses to choose plans that align with their budget, making it accessible to a wide range of SMEs in control panel manufacturing.
Case Study: Revere Control Systems’ Success with Quoteplan The PBSI article features Revere Control Systems, a provider of custom control panels specializing in the water and wastewater industry. Before adopting Quoteplan, Revere faced time-consuming manual quotation processes that led to inefficiencies, errors, and delays. Managing a wide range of materials and custom specifications was challenging, increasing the risk of errors and customer dissatisfaction.
After integrating Quoteplan, Revere experienced a significant transformation:
Centralized Database for Material Selection: A centralized system allowed Revere to select materials more efficiently, reducing errors and simplifying project management.
Improved Workflow and Time Savings: By automating repetitive tasks, Revere was able to reduce non-billable hours for engineering resources, allowing staff to focus on value-added activities.
Enhanced Vendor Management: The software’s purchasing requisition functionality enabled Revere to manage vendors and compare quotes effectively, optimizing procurement and cost control.
Long-Term Benefits and Outlook With Quoteplan, SMEs like Revere Control Systems can not only enhance accuracy and efficiency but also position themselves for long-term growth. The article points out how Rutamsoft’s ongoing support and commitment to innovation ensure that Quoteplan remains scalable, adaptable, and ready to meet the evolving needs of control panel manufacturers.

thinking abt the the group project i had in college where after it was done the girl that plagiarized bc she put no citations yet still wrote nonsensical slides said that she enjoyed working with us and liked a bunch of “thank god the semester is over” messages in our gc.
well peer review was part of the grade and i was honest in mine
a couple weeks later, when we got our grades back, i got notifications of her unliking the messages
#she did tell us she had a busy life so we gave her the easy slides#but still she put stuff in quotations and didn’t even say where the quotes came from#prob the worst group project I had

LADY TOWNLEY: I pity the young lovers we last talked of, though to say the truth their conduct has been so indiscreet they deserve to be unfortunate.
MEDLEY: Y'have had an exact account from the great lady i'th'box down to the little orange wench.
EMILIA: Y'are a living libel, a breathing lampoon. I wonder you are not torn in pieces.
MEDLEY: What think you of setting up an office of intelligence for these matters? The project may get money.
