Things I've learned writing much longer long!fic that I wish I had known when I started:

Outlines are nice, but do not communicate how long something will take to write (i.e. "travel to Waterdeep" -> turned into 8k+ words)

Always note the random bits of dialogue somewhere, do not trust yourself to remember (I began an extra section for dialogue that needed to happen)

Having goals per chapter is nice, but sometimes you have to acknowledge that the story will take you in another direction (why I'm thinking I need to split or redefine these last few chapters)

Since I went pretty deep into "mystery" territory, this is more mystery-specific: if you have a lot of moving parts, you will need to reread your fic on the regular to make sure you didn't forget anything (not saying that your character wouldn't forget it, but, as the writer, I don't want to forget it)

Anyway, this is all helping me for my next fic(s), but figured I'd write it down somewhere in case it helps anyone else?

you cant choose what stays and what fades away i believe this is about tony losing his father to prison, yes, but also gregory over his lack of control during the events of ggy, especially concerning his memory

and id do anything to make you stay i think both of them would want to stay with each other, gregory with trying to keep tony's memories so he doesnt forget him, and tony s he can solve the mystery (and also cos hs gay)

you want a revelation, some kind of resolution how tony always wants answers to things, and he wants to know everything there is about ggy even after its happened and he's met up with gregory

but its a conversation i just cant have tonight is like tony asking him about ggy, but gregory dismissing it or ignoring it because of the shared trauma they have, and he wants to try move past it despite tonys insistence

in your place were a thousand other faces this would go with gregory and his inability to remember the exact faces of tony (and ellis), and all of the counsellors and everyone ggy encountered during the time he used his body

i was disappearing in plain sight this is gregory living at the pizzaplex - he’s missing, but in plain sight, as the pizzaplex is a big and crowded place, so if any of his friends were to go there, theyd have a chance of noticing him

would you leave me if id told you what ive done? it kinda goes for both of them, but mainly gregory - when he'd remember the actions ggy took, he'd obviously feel guilty and would think everyone would leave him because he was dangerous. i think this also applies for tony, but only after he realises how much of a jerk he's been - gregory wouldnt remember everything, so if tony told him, he'd be afraid of his reaction

I honestly can't remember if I said anything here about Couple's Goodluck Charm lqg?

When he's a disciple he gets a crush on, like, two of his shixiongs who are pining over each other and ends up having a fling with both of them before they start dating each other. They end up in a committed relationship and lowkey cite dating lqg as their inciting incident.

Later he ends up dating an established couple known from breaking up and getting back together and after they dated him they end up stabilizing and getting married.

They say lqg was their good luck charm and he gets kind of a reputation.

Now anyone who wants good luck in their relationship try to catch lqg's eye bc him being interested in you is seen as a blessing!

When he starts hanging around yqy everyone thinks the Era of good luck Liu Qingge will end bc obviously yqy is a catch and they'll actually end up together but then yqy brings home sj. Everyone can tell yqy is obsessed with sj, so now everyone thinks lqg's good luck extends to finding your soulmate in general even if you aren't currently in a relationship. AND then sj and lqg become RIVALS and the yqy & sj ships crashes and burns so lqg's reputation evolves once more

So it goes: if lqg is interested in you as a couple then you're guaranteed good fortune in your relationship. If you're single then you will have terrible luck.

People are already intimidated by him bc he's gaining such a bold reputation as Bai zhan's succeeding disciple, and now with the Relationship Lore people never approach him interested in Him

He cements a few more relationships throughout his time as a disciple and Peak Lord (probably a few more disciples, Mqf & WQW, maybe, when they become peak lords) and ruins a few others incidentally so his reputation grows into like a folk tale that everyone passes on to each other

So of course lqg's crush is seen as very Ominous and Foreboding for sqq and when lbh pops up everyone is like. Whoop. Lqg Curse strikes again.

Funnily enough, when bingqiu happens and friendly interaction with demons become more common, when lqg's Lore is shared the demons flip the omens. Lqg fighting lbh for five years read as being interested and now lbh is off living his happiest life. Lqg tried removing sqh's head from his shoulders and now mbj has a devoted life partner. Obviously Liu qingge fighting you/being interested in you in the demon way is a blessing of good fortune

Anyways, when lbh hears that dating lqg as a third means your relationship will last forever, OF COURSE he tries to get that extra bit of assurance :>

(I think... moshang also want a piece of lqg's relationship luck. It becomes bingqiu and moshang competing over Liu Qingge)

AA PEOPLE BEING INTERESTED IN MY OCS

so. they're both major characters in this RPG I would really like to make someday called The Mission Of Imperium.

Basically everyone is aware of the 4th wall, Players are seen as an entity that must be summoned when the world is faced with a dilemma that ordinary heroes cannot solve.

however, Players need a vessel.

in this particular story, Kyer is The Intended Vessel. they were chosen for this role because they tend to be a pushover and thus would be easy for the Player to control.

Alisia has been Kyer's best friend since childhood, and planned to go with them and basically be the Game's deuteragonist while Kyer would be the protagonist. she doesn't trust the Player, nor does she particularly like the idea of Kyer being possessed, but she is willing to let this happen and support their decision to act as a vessel.

however, when the player tries to inhabit Kyer's body, it is revealed that they are actually unable to act as a vessel. having the Player inhabiting them causes a lot of pain and could lead to death (that the Player would not be able to respawn them from) within less than an hour if the Player is not removed from their body.

Because of this, the Player ends up switching vessels last minute, causing Alisia to become the Player's vessel. she hates this, but for the fate of the world and the fact that she seems to be doing just fine as a vessel, she ends up becoming the Game's protagonist.

aside from the main conflict of "go defeat evil and save the world", this story centers a lot around the Player being able to make whatever choices they want regardless of what Alisia and Kyer want. and boy do I have plans regarding that
