If you were to name a common trope from tyzula fics, which would be your favorite, and which would be your least?

You can even answer the same question with Azutara since I can see you like the ship.

Though I'd have to request your answers to be specific compared to broad ideas like "They give azula therapy". I just like knowing how people think about certain things.

for tyzula i’d have to say my favorite trope would probably be childhood best friends to enemies to hesitant friends again to “oh my god when did i fall for this dummy?”. tyzula as a ship (to me) has to include some sort of angst. i’d also like something that gives “good luck, babe!” vibes even though i do tend to stay away from overly angsty things. i really don’t like fics where ty lee and azula are depicted of having a healthy relationship in canon. azula needs to get herself together before the pairing can be healthy.

with azutara i’m very much a rivals to lovers enjoyer. like yes please feed me with all the content of katara and azula prodigies competing to be the best but somehow falling for each other on the way. i really, really hate fics where the main plot point is katara picking between zuko and azula. personally, i think they’re just really awkward (and i don’t like romantic zutara tbh. to each their own, but it’s not my cup of tea).

Lots of Christmas shopping for the kids at Morning Glory. Getting hot drinks and walking around together during a snowfall. He wouldn't expect you to do this with him but he likes to volunteer at events, like soup kitchens for the homeless, during this time of year.

Majima Goro

Him want go see the big fancy holiday lights with you. That's it. He just wanna go see some neat decorations and ooo and aaa. Also just wants to drink hot drinks and eat hot food with you.

Saejima Taiga

Doesn't care for public holiday events so much but he WILL be making a giant cauldron of homemade soup for you both. You don't have to help out but he would love it if you did!

Akiyama Shun

Not much a festive guy, typically spends holidays just sleeping a lot. Would go out for a particularly fancy dinner with you though. Does tag along for Christmas shopping if only to take notes on what you seem to like so he can buy it for you later.

He's pretty new at dating so he doesn't know what couples do for holidays but his personal tradition is making tons of handmade dumplings at Homeland and handing them out to all the families in the international district. He'd love it if you tagged along to help, maybe even tying some cute bows on the baskets before delivering them together.

Big of heart and dumb of ass man Ryuji's favorite holiday thing to do is to make literally everyone in the Omi Alliance decorate the HQ. That includes you. Of course, since you are his literal favorite person, you get first and last say of what goes. It's really fun for the both of you, running around and throwing up decorations, telling grunts to put that there and not over there and what the hell were they thinking putting those lights with that color ribbon.

Nishikiyama Akira

He wants to visit all the cutest cafes and try their seasonal items. Nothing like a cutesy dessert for two... or two desserts. Or three. Also likes to wear matching scarves or matching gloves.

Daigo Dojima

He's also fairly unfamiliar with what couples do during the holidays but he's trying his best. Will take you out for a nice dinner for sure. He tends to prefer attending winter festivals instead of events for more modern holidays so if you're willing to try that, he'd love to go with you! His personal favorite holiday tradition is just enjoying hot tea while watching snow fall.

Mine Yoshitaka

He's pretty inward most of the time so holiday chaos just makes him want to stay home. Usually just decorates inside of his own home, he's not really religious but he likes the appearance of a Christmas tree so he typically goes with that. Would love to shop for some ornaments for you to hang up specifically.

Tatsuo Shinada

Literally all he wants to do is wear a Santa hat. That and probably go bar hopping on Christmas Eve. He's all about just relaxing and having a fun time, so long as he's with you. Would go caroling with you, although be warned he sings a little off key.

He's probably one of the few out of all the boys that genuinely isn't picky about doing much during the holidays. As long as he gets to spend time with his loved ones, he's content. If it snows, he's definitely starting a snowball fight though. Would love to check out a holiday market with you though!

This silly head is making truck loads of homemade steamed buns and drinking a lot of tea and nothing can stop him from accomplishing his tasty holiday mission. He'd love to teach you how to make the buns. Likes watching you proudly place them in the steamer after he's filled them up.

His ass don't know nothin' about holidays! No, seriously, he's so confused. "Why's there a man in a red suit at the mall today?" It's not that he doesn't love you, he loves you so much that sometimes he actually cannot believe it, it'll just hit him sometimes that he found someone as wonderful as you and somehow, someway, you love him and it'll almost take his breath away. We're talking like five years into dating, you'll give him a kiss or touch his face or something tender, and he'll just be like "You really do like me, huh?"

-- But it's really important for him to do the right thing and to not feel like he's being selfish in asking such a big commitment from you. He wants to make absolutely, positively certain that Cove would be ok with it, even though he'd be an adult himself at this point. And if it's single parent MC and you have a minor child/children, then dang, is he going to be cautious.

-- He is a tender little flower.

-- So maybe you'll have to propose to him. And if you did that, it would ruin him in the best way imaginable.

-- Still, it would be a conversation. You're both a little older with established separate lives. But yeah, you're probably going to have to take the reins here too. Maybe you're cuddling one night and the topic comes up.

-- Real quick, Cliff is a big time cuddler. It may be his favorite activity in the world. -- You are engaged! You can get him a ring, he would wear it except when he's doing activities, but he's definitely getting you one. If you don't intervene, it's going to be crazy expensive, so maybe keep an eye on it if that's not your thing.

-- He'll do whatever you want for the wedding. Something big, something small, a trip to the courthouse, a destination wedding. Whatever you want, that's what you'll get, as long as Cove can be there.

-- Cove is his best man. If you only want to have your own best man/person/person of honor/whatever, that will work, but if not he'll get Pam and Noelani and Kyra and Gregorio to stand with him.

-- During the ceremony, Cliff wouldn't be exactly as emotional as Cove was during his, but there are tears for sure. They're more steady tears though, not that emotional mess kind of crying (love you so much Cove feel your feelings), he's just smiling with tears coming down. He's so happy, he's never been happier in his entire life (besides Cove lol).

i literally respond to every single comment ! if i don't know what to say i will think of something ! comments literally keep me alive. like i joke about writing for attention but genuinely the thought of receiving comments and reblog tags is what keeps me going on my wip's. i have the biggest praise kink that has EVER existed and god knows nobody is praising me for anything ever in my real life, so i gotta take what i can get. it's insane that real people read my words and have enough thoughts about them to like... type those thoughts out. so i must thank every individual person with a heart and a virtual kiss on their head.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

even if it ends for suuuure. i had people threatening self-harm in the ao3 bookmarks of that one in a loving way, and that's without even knowing about the rich inner life that i didn't expand on the way i originally planned to. in my brain, oscar has already decided to leave mclaren by the time the events of that fic happen bc their teammateship has gotten so self-destructive, so lando's "you can't stay" and oscar's "i know, but i want to anyway" is so much more knife-to-the-heart than y'all even realize.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

uh. i don't really want to count the kiss prompts because they don't really exist to me as fic, so... anybody, nowhere i guess? the devil in me is not NOT happy. can i cheat and say dad lando even though it doesn't actually exist yet?

Do you write crossovers?

no jesus christ i can barely write characters outside of oscar and lando (and apparently max fewtrell according to like two people). adding in even MORE variables is making me nauseous just thinking about it.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

"hate" is a strong word but there is a reason that my lestappen is on anon now.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i do write it sometimes, but not very successfully (glaring at u lestappen garbage). i have two landoscar wip's that are basically pwp, but i just don't really think i'm good at smut, so idk if they'll ever go anywhere for real. the pacing is simply so impossible to me. like how soon is too soon to have an orgasm. also like 90% of my writing is just knockoff versions of my own emotions from various points, and so as someone who only hooks up with people for reasons not really related to actually getting off, i find it really really hard to write the build-up and come-down from smut WHILE ALSO really struggling with the actual acts. like what are normal people's brains doing before during and after making someone come? bc i guarantee it is not what my brain does. it just doesn't really compute unfortunately.

i don't think my fics have existed long enough to be stolen tbh.

no but i wrote literally millions of words while roleplaying in any number of ships back in the day.

i think probably steve/bucky of the marvel universe? i don't really fw it much at this exact moment because endgame literally ruined my life for a bit, but that's probably the ship i've enjoyed the most over the years.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

honestly all of my wip's outside of dad lando and that nutcracker thing i'm definitely not writing shhh. I will fight shave fic eventually i think. the wip that's absolutely never getting finished the most securely is the fake dating thing based on that kiss prompt i filled in like july. like it's a 50k concept that i have like 5k worth of motivation for.

What are your writing strengths?

um. i think just, like. prose that sounds nice? i think i did a good job putting readers inside of lando's head in anybody, nowhere, so i'd say i'm occasionally good at translating emotion/headspace too. actually i'll go ahead and say that about all of my published landoscar, because i think that's even if it ends' strength too. dad lando is less that way, but it has other things going for it.

What are your writing weaknesses?

i'm really really mean to myself, so it's hard to pick just one. i'm bad at writing characters distinctly i think. like i just make them do things based on what feels good in my brain and just hope that y'all don't think they're OOC, but whenever i stop to think "what would oscar say here?" it's like... blank. bc i don't know. and it's really MUCH worse with everyone outside of landoscar. i also don't think my pacing is very good and i get hung up on details people won't care about and also i have a compulsive need to make EVERYTHING a metaphor. i'm going to stop there bc insecurity isn't very cute but i also over-edit and introduce too many threads and i could literally go on all night

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i don't honestly see the point? because either you provide a translation, which defeats the purpose, or you don't, which makes it a secret for some readers but NOT the ones who speak the language in question. i'm spoiled by native-english-speakers landoscar as my primary ship, but i think if i ever wanted to write a convo between like. charles and pierre, ig, i would just write it in english and be like "they said in french" afterwards of smthn, idk. i think the only time i've written in not-english is that lestappen "after a long wait" kiss prompt and it was like a language device (haha) and not dialogue.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

i've only ever published on ao3 for F1. way way back i used to fill prompts on tumblr for one direction, which was the first fandom content of any kind that i wrote. the first actual fanfic i ever typed into a word document was finnpoe from the star wars sequel trilogy. so depends how you wanna define!

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

i got really really spooked by my lestappen adventure because it actually broke my brain for a bit, so now i'm scared to write anything but landoscar. i think the most likely non-landoscar ship i'd write is maxiel, probably? i saw them across the bar and loved their vibe. daniel feels kind of impossible for me to write though so idk if i ever will.

What's your favorite fic you've written?

anybody, nowhere i think, because i think it's the most complete thing i've done. i also really love how even if it ends turned out too, which is crazy bc i haaaaated it mid-writing process. i think it feels really like... i don't know. gritty? messy in a way that makes it authentic? idk how to describe. i think even if it ends has my favorite characterizations i've written for both lando AND oscar. but anybody, nowhere is my firstborn and i treasure her, so. yeah. tie, maybe.

you want to survive? LETS DO THIS

1: NO MATTER WHAT try and stick it out. Get the grades, get the hours, get the permission to travel to at least ONE competition- especially one that stays in a hotel, since I know some teams will skip out on hotels for events close to them. I don't think ANYONE, in any scenario, should say "this isn't for me" until they go and experience one full event.

2: if you don't use deodorant YOU WILL BE EXECUTED . no matter what your job is, there is going to be at least ONE point throughout the day where you are shoulder-to-shoulder with someone . if theres a time to be self conscious its then . use Convention rules as reference

3:you will be tempted to fucking come out of the closet at least at one point . you do NOT KNOW how much it hurt to skip out on a cool write-your-own-pronouns pin because i refused to use she/her and wasn't comfortable writing any. proceed with caution as you see fit.

4: are you surprised by number four? YOU SHOULDNT BE the women. ohh the women are so pretty. my entire high school (aka: less than a year ago) was me being OUTRAGOUSLY STUPID whenever i saw a fem presenting person . oh my god. oh my god they are all so hot. and then those hot students become hot volunteers and alumni and the gay never leaves. there was a trans woman mentor at one competition she rocked we talked with her for like an hour

5: if your team. goes to far competitions. TAKE A BLANKET AND PILLOW. new kids sometimes do NOT get this memo. do it. get silly with it, to what your team permits. our team, being older than me myself, gave up . . most rules. involving the bus. for better or worse.

6: bring a hoodie. i dont care where you go. bring not just a blanket, but a hoodie. so worse comes to worse you can put it on the floor and sleep. that was a fun 8 hour bus ride.

7: if you have a remotely decent team. you will be killed on site if you cuss at a competition. one kid's "bad" or immature behavior can lead to your entire team being disqualified to any award not related to robot performance.

8: LEARN HOW TO EAT AT LEAST ONE BASIC FOOD. this one might be silly but it could've killed me (dramatic). eat pizza. even if you have to take off the cheese just. figure out a way its worth it. FIND SOMETHING TO EAT FOR BREAKFAST. at least one breakfast food, for if you're at a hotel that serves you. experiment a little. find something that works for you.

9: exercise what free stuff you take with caution . i have probably ten-fifteen pounds of buttons and pins, and i do not. genuinely do not. think thats an exaggeration.

10: headphones . soft, subtle earbuds. battery packs. and a BACKPACK. my senior year, i composed myself of:

fanny pack, attached to it my wallet which had a buckle, so i could easily access my money. a change purse also attachable, so i have somewhere for coins obviously.

reusable, collapsing drinking cup

a folded up draw-string bag, for hoodies, or eccentric amount of free stuff

one to two battery packs with a charger. if you have friends (or want to make some), consider having other types of chargers too!

wall outlet plug, incase i need to charge at a venue

miniature hairbrush

hand sanitizer

gum. a great way to make friends

a folded up sandwich bag with various medicines, and a piece of paper that describe which each medicine is (ibuprofen, anxiety meds, etc).

i genuinely considered wearing two fannypacks at the same time. also, tying your hoodie around your waist for extra storage works too.

AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE HACK:

tampon box . your venue bans outside food or drink? tampon box with pads and tampons on top. contraband inside. almost NEVER looks. better to put it with team stuff like scouting equipment and spirit gear but a worthy inclusion. Same goes for if you have a backpack with pockets!

put food/drinks at the bottom, menstrual products on top. doesn't matter what you present as. lie. say your girlfriend needed it since she doesn't carry a bag with her to competitions. putting SOFT STUFF that mumbles wrappers crinkling also helps, like an extra hoodie. though I personally wouldn't matter to much about that, since competitions are LOUD especially when you're entering the venue when the doors first open.

a lot of the time though, security aren't too bothered. especially if you dont make it obvious.

this is my first robotics season as a college student. i don't like my team enough to go back, but god. god do i fucking love this program.

None. I just made an A03 a few weeks ago and it will take a long time for my brain to figure out how to put my stuff on there LOL. On Tumblr, jeez, let me see. I have 35? So far. I counted my two series as 2.

Oh lordt, let me see. On Tumblr, I have...roughly 168,964 words across all my fics. YIKES. And I can't even write in my books LOL

Probably Through the Fire. It was such a sad ending! It had to be done! Someone said "What kind of sane person would write an ending so sad???" Literally made my day as a writer.

Most of them got happy endings LOL. But the one that ended the sweetest, hm, probably...Sunday?

Nope. I be in my own little corner of the innanet and all my comments and reblogs have been positive! It might change with my Kang fic and I'm okay with that. Block button is my bestie.

YES! A thousand times yes. So far, they've all been one shot smut fics that resolves itself. I have some pt 2's coming, but I'm so behind on Tyrone asks. I'm sorry!!!! I will get to them, promise.

Never did a crossover. My fandoms are all over the place and the only one to use for crossovers is Marvel and I'm not that confident yet. I don't hate on folks who do, but not the type of fics I be reading.

I'm so not a person that ships, it's terrible. Canon relationships bore me to tears or I know that the writers are gonna do some fuck shit to break them up, so why bother? However, I'm obsessed with Attoye and Janine and Gregory from Abbott Elementary.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Believe it or not, I write fics in the moment and release them in the wild before I have a chance to go back and change everything. I only plot my series. And I plan to finish both series! I've been trying to think of what other series I can do.

I think I write dialogue pretty well. I'm able to write things in character and pay attention to their characteristics.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I haven't done it. Only because Google translate only takes you so far and it doesn't take nuance into account. And I appreciate when there's translations after the fic. It's hard to copy on mobile and put it into Translate to figure out what was said.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I just started fic writing this year. LOL. I used to say I missed a crucial part of writing culture as a teen. But it was a Marvel Loki fic.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I can't choose between my babies! But it would probably be my Loki series. One of the chapters I finished, I was like??? Okay, you fuckin' ate that. I felt so proud of myself as a writer, that self-satisfaction is what I'm writing for.

MIKELIJAH CONSOLIDATIONS

Cicada Walters (they/he/she bird/wing)- Consolidation between Mikey Walters and Eli Mayfield. My self insert! And my favorite disaster bisexual. They're one of the founders of H1VE. In a romantic relationship with PR1ZE and Jessica.

C.W. (they/he/she bird/wing)- Cicada iteration from the future. They came back to the present to help out with the H1VE and Elijah conflict. After that, they pop in for individual missions and corrections, but mostly stay in their own time.

Scarab Walters-Baker (they/she yee/haw)- Cicada's older, cooler, and sadder cowboy iteration! They're about 10 years older, give or take. Used to be a flinchite boot but rebelled and helped Cicada escape the compound. Married and in a qpr with B0UNTY and Jessie. Part of H1VE.

Timema Walters (she/he)- Iteration of Cicada still playing WOE.BEGONE. She works at OI and is still doing missions for them. She keeps surveillance over H1VE and protects them in the ways that he can, but doesn't interact with them outside of that.

Viceroy Walters (he/xhey)- Iteration of Cicada, iterated off at the same time Timema was. He works at OI and goes to OVER occasionally. Part of a separate base inside of OI, run by a different OI worker, Facade. (Heshemikey's oc) Xhey're part of the Elijah council.

Rove Walters (he/him)- Iteration of Timema that she created to try and help escape from WOE.BEGONE. Rove ran off and met M3DAL, a PR1ZE iteration, and now they live their stupid little hippie lives on the beach. He's filled with paranoia about WOE.BEGONE finding him and kills any iteration he sees of himself on sight.

Mantis Walters (he/they)- Mikelijah consolidation, not a Cicada iteration. Basically just the came back wrong trope. I love him. He's so angry all the time and at everyone. Most iterations of them are compound torture subjects but there are a couple running around on the outside. One of their iterations is part of H1VE.

Hornet King-Walters (he/they xe/xet)- Consolidation of Cicada and Damian (also a two person consolidation). Has a small council but they don't do much except for steal stuff from OVER. Has a bunch of medical issues because of their consolidation. Coowned by @ltacryptid. Xe's also in a weird polyam relationship with xet's other iterations and Ana and Hyde.

H2 (he/him)- Hornet iteration. Very much the quietest and softest iteration, but still ruthless.

H3 (she/they/he)- Hornet iteration. Literally Will Just Kill You.

H4 (he/it)- Hornet iteration. Quietly angry and sad all the time.

H5 (he/she)- Consolidation between two Hornet iterations. Completely immobile. His body is always falling apart. The only reason he's still alive is because Ty wants to see how long it takes her to die.

Tracker King-Walters (they/them)- Hornet's cowboy iteration. Originally wasn't part of the council but got roped into it. Also will just kill you.

MISCELLANEOUS

Elijah Alexander Mayfield (he/she/they)- Hoo boy. Where do I even start. The council of elijahs are probably the most powerful ocs I have. They have their grubby little fingers in every time travel org out there except Walters Base. They all consider themselves they same person even though the aren't so they all use the same pronouns. They're all bastards. ESPECIALLY Eli.

Oliver Newton (prns vary between iterations)- The Elijah's rival council. Just as powerful, a little less ruthless. They and Elijah used to be friends, before Eli coerced (read: threatened) Cicada into doing a connectivity strike on them.

Aaron Fowler (he/him)- Elijah's boyfriend and ex WOE.BEGONE player. Used to work at OVER, but then he tried to start his own version of Base and got killed for his efforts. Elijah brought him back, but now he lives in hiding.

Anaphora Lawson (she/they)- Tier 1 OVER worker. Knows a bit of what's going on but wants nothing to do with it. Lives with her partners, the hornet council and Hyde, and just tries to keep them safe. Accompanies the Hornets on their OVER missions anyway.

Brair Campbell (she/her)- Consolidation between Anne and an unnamed OI worker. May's (Elijah's OI iteration) pet project. OI made her forget she's a consolidation and she's just living a normal life. Now and again the Elijahs use her for something and then she gets her memory back, but it's rare.

First Fic Published: Future, Present, Past, a post-canon canon- divergence (say that 10x fast) VegasPete fic where they've been raising Venice with no knowledge of his family's past. This fic is my baby, and even though there's things I look back on that I'd change (not nearly enough Pete POV!) anyone who's read or commented on it is truly so dear to me. Venice is something that can be so personal 😌

Last Fic Published: Wedding Night 😳 listennnn I've been in my breeding era and it's not changing anytime soon. Summer break = late night horny writing hours, I don't make the rules.

One-Time Only: High and Low is my one and only BigKinn fic and it'll probably stay that way ��� I love the angst potential, but writing the smut was such a challenge. The whole time, I was like "is this any good??" Luckily it got a lot of wonderful feedback that I'm so grateful for and I really enjoyed writing from Big's perspective!

Favorite VegasPete Fic: Oh my god, this is really hard to choose!! Especially when most of my writing is for them 😅 BUT 3 a.m. is one of my favorite fics that I've written overall, and especially for VegasPete. Writing the nightmare of Vegas dreaming that he kills Pete in the safehouse was so fun and I feel like this fic really solidified my love for angst. Vegas' panic attack and his conversation with Macau are also near and dear to my heart. This is one of the fics that I reread regularly.

Fic I Wish More People Read: Haunted by the Thought of You is a fic that I loved writing and really enjoy, but for whatever reason it just didn't get a lot of traction! I love ghosts and all things spooky, and the concept of Vegas being haunted by Tawan was just so delicious, especially when I dug into Buddhism and ghosts. If you're interested, I highly recommend checking it out 💕

Fic I Agonized Over: Pete Pray Love is my post-canon long fic and I've been struggling to get it finished. I've written, and re-written, and cut chapters, and contemplated giving up; it's been a whole process. I'm determined to stick with it (and am actually working on the final chapter right now) but I'm so grateful to the people who have supported it from the beginning and continue to engage with it!!!

Fully-Formed Fic: The first chapter of Great Expectations came to me in a horny vision; I had no idea it would spawn into a 30k longfic that's changed directions at least twice. Looking back, it could have used a bit of polish (and perhaps some lube), but ultimately it's a horny, angsty good time and I wouldn't have it any other way 😆

Fic I'm Proud Of: Playing for Keeps is so, so dear to me; I was absolutely overwhelmed by the feedback and it reinforced the feeling I had that I'd touched on something really special about love and family while writing it. This fic completely took hold of me - I wrote 10k over the course of 9 days and it occupied all my waking thoughts. The intimacy between Vegas and Pete felt really special; it's some of my favorite smut I've written purely because of how tender it is. There's something about letting someone into your life after years of closing yourself off... *cries* I could literally talk about this fic forever, it's a problem, and this is why it's getting it's own little universe bc their story is demanding to be told!!!

8. Do you prefer writing the beginning, middle, or end of a story?

Middle, usually. Beginnings are fun, I'm reasonably good at beginnings, because by the time I'm starting to write I've done a fair bit of work planning it out and I'm excited to get to it. Endings are fine, I feel like I do a reasonably good job of tying things off neatly. But MIDDLES. Middles are where the meat is, where the sauce is. It's the part where you get to play.

13. What's a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

Planning. I didn't used to do this, but I do now, and it serves me So Goddamn Well. I sit with a fic before I start to write it, and I map out just about everything that has to happen in it, beat for beat, all the way until the end. I'll usually get snippet ideas while that happens, and I'll write those down, too, until I have a document that's several thousand words long and I haven't even technically started drafting it yet. I feel like it's made my writing SO MUCH STRONGER.

14. How do you write emotional scenes? Do you draw from what the characters feel, or personal experience?

I mean. I don't have a lot of personal experience of what it's like to be, say for instance, a gay ww2 soldier. But I try really hard to get myself into the mindset of what this character would be feeling and experiencing, and how they would respond-which is often not at all how I would respond. I tend to write characters who don't say much about how they feel, or even really recognize their own emotions, necessarily, and I'm more likely to tell people in Great Detail what I'm feeling. There's something so challenging and exquisite about writing emotion without using emotional words.

Like, okay. Here's a scene from Serpentine, and Brad and Nate are thinking ya know, might die today.

They didn’t hug. Nate stuck out his hand and Brad gripped it, the clasp firm and long. They didn’t say “Be safe,” or “Semper Fi,” or “Stay frosty,” or any of the other things each of them had said over and over again to other men. They didn’t say anything at all. But they shook hands, and Nate’s fingers were long and oddly graceful beneath the ever-present dirt, his grip strong and steady. Brad thought that he could probably feel Nate’s heartbeat in his palm, and that it, too, would be strong and steady—and he held tight and he looked into those green eyes and he didn’t say anything out loud but he thought Nate probably heard anyway. Eventually they let go. 

Brad is not a guy who is going to allow himself even to think things like "I'm scared" "What if he dies" etc. So it's about a handshake, but it's also about that.

20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words, themes, etc.?

Well, I sure am drawn to writing guys who can't express themselves! And I swear a lot. And it's definitely spelled come, not cum.

27. Most and Least favorite parts of writing?

I looooove writing dialogue. LOVE IT. In some other universe, I'm a screenwriter and I never have to deal with scene-setting. I HATE tracking timelines and consistency, and I know I need to slow down and set the scene better sometimes/

58. What part of the writing process do you enjoy most? brainstorming, outlining, drafting, editing.

Lol it's definitely not editing! I think I probably enjoy brainstorming the most, because that's when I'm on fire with it. Outlining can be exhausting. Probably drafting comes second? I enjoy the process of writing, the hunt for an elegant sentence.
