hi thank you for coming to my ted talk today i will be very normally discussing the final rayllum scene in 709!!!!!!!

to me this scene really just shows them coming to terms with peace and fully letting themselves relax (even if it’s just for seven years) after constantly being on edge for how-many-months now. and we see this in many factors.

rayla is asleep, and she’s not tense (see: 503, 601, 406 where she is in full on fight mode immediately after waking up, and before even being properly awake). shes taken most of her layers off, leaving herself fully unprotected and exposed. her hair down is also something that i see as a sign of calmness in her because having long hair down when you need to fight is distracting

callum takes off his scarf, an item that we’ve only only seen him without in 401,402 and 501. all three episodes take place in katolis (hence theres no danger), which, how im interpreting it, means that even if it’s just a piece of cloth he sees it as an extra layer of ‘protection’. he also has his streak of white hair on full display (it’s hard to cover but if he wanted to he would) without any visible shame.

i think that this scene and the way it’s been set up is a metaphor or it symbolises that they’ve fully let their true selves show, every single part of them, even if it means also showing their non-heroic sides (see: streak -> dark part of callum // layers off -> rayla’s softer part) and that just gets confirmed by rayla’s confession that mentions ‘every part of callum’
