KakaObi Rec List!
Updated 10/26/23
I added a new fics, moved things that have become series to the proper page, removed deleted/privated fics, and noted what fics now require log-in.
           → → →  LINK ← ← ←
And, as a bonus, I looked through my subscriptions and pulled some currently incomplete fics I’m following below the cut. (I generally don’t have in-progress stuff on the list, since I can’t have full warnings on stories still being written. I’ve also had the rare instance of fics I like in the begining that I end up being meh on/actively disliking by the end and don’t actually recommend them for that reason. Don’t think that will be the case with the below fics though!)

SasuSaku: Sacrificed To The Banished Prince Ch. 9
Sakura did her best to appear unbothered while following her temporary handmaid, a scary woman named Konan, downstairs toward the dining hall for breakfast.
Ino had packed her new dresses for this trip, but they weren’t in the room when the pinkette awoke. She asked Konan about it, but all she said was that the king had selected a wardrobe for her to use during the stay. Just like the dress Sakura hadn’t liked while trying on clothes for the royal family’s tailor, the back was low on every single one. She politely requested a shawl or something to cover her bare skin but was refused. Konan at least heeded her request to leave her hair loose down her back so it wouldn’t be noticeable.
‘This maid didn’t say or do anything to hurt me, but I feel really uncomfortable around her for some reason.’
“Ah, you look beautiful, Niece! I knew a lady of the Haruno family would compliment any dress wonderfully,” the king kissed Sakura’s hand before gesturing for her to sit beside Sasuke at the large dining table.
She felt her face warm. Awkwardly, she crossed the room, sparing her fiance a glance when he rose to pull out the chair for her. He still seemed upset, but not as much as he had during the past week.
Breakfast was served, but the pinkette found it hard to eat when it felt like her every move was being scrutinized. Her heartbeat pounded in her ears as she tried to ignore the discomfort and failed.
The king was overly friendly with her from the moment they met. It wasn’t that she was ungrateful to him for being so welcoming; it was just that she wasn’t used to such behavior. She didn’t know how to react and feared she’d accidentally say or do the wrong thing and insult him. The last thing she wanted to do was misrepresent her family and Sasuke.
‘I don’t belong in a place like this. I’m an illegitimate daughter, of all things! Does the king know? Will he cancel the wedding if he finds out?’
Sakura’s spine straightened as she snapped out of her anxious stupor. A warm hand had landed atop hers on her lap. She looked at Sasuke in surprise, and he squeezed, a reassuring glint ever so subtly warming his gaze. If she hadn’t been searching for it, she would’ve missed it and assumed he was only glaring again.
She nervously returned the squeeze, a grateful smile pulling at the corner of her mouth. Sasuke released her hand when the king suddenly spoke, breaking the silence of the room, “You two must be excited about your engagement party this evening.”
Sasuke nodded with a frown, his voice serious and cold, “Thank you for organizing this for us, Uncle. You have our gratitude.”
Even though she was unstudied in most things pertaining to human interaction due to her lack of experience with the outside world, Sakura could tell Sasuke was tense and cautious in regard to the king and maybe the first prince, too. She mentally noted to follow in his footsteps so as to not cause problems.
“Of course, Nephew! I’ve waited years for your letter confirming a match had been made with one of the marriage candidates I selected,” Madara’s dark eyes flickered onto Sakura, his smile widening when her face turned a pretty shade of pink, “I must say your appearances are as different as day and night but somehow still suit one another. Wouldn’t you agree, Itachi?”
The first prince nodded politely, “Yes. They’re a very handsome couple, Uncle. You’ve outdone yourself.”
After breakfast, Sasuke attempted to get Sakura alone so they could speak about the man with yellow eyes, but the king stopped them before they could exit the dining room. “Sasuke, your brother will take you to prepare for this evening. Leave the princess in my hands. I’ll take good care of her in your absence.”
Sakura’s eyes widened when Sasuke took her hands and regarded her with a frown, “My Lord….”
He glanced at his family members before turning so his back faced them. Her warm face became hot when he uncharacteristically leaned in to press a chaste kiss to her cheek, whispering into her ear while there, “Be cautious. I’ll come to you as soon as I can.” When he pulled back and searched her face, she nodded, awestruck. He gave her hands one last squeeze before following his elder brother out of the room, leaving her with the king.
King Madara offered Sakura his arm, “Shall we take a stroll?”
She bowed before accepting it. It was difficult to keep her body from nervously trembling, so he surely noticed, but he said nothing. The pair walked in silence for a while before they exited the building and entered a massive, intricate, and beautiful garden.
Sakura was suddenly struck with a sense of deja vu. She glanced around, trying desperately to figure out why it felt as though this wasn’t her first time seeing it.
“Would you like to sit and rest for a moment?”
Sakura nodded, allowing the king to guide her to a nearby bench, where they sat side-by-side. Her gaze landed on a row of rose bushes across the walkway, where dark blue flowers bloomed. Her brow furrowed as she continued to fail in jogging her memory.
“Is there something on your mind?”
The woman jumped slightly, having forgotten Konoha’s ruler was at her side. She blushed, glancing his way before nodding and averting her eyes back to the roses, “I feel as though I’ve seen beautiful blue roses like these somewhere before, but I’m having trouble recalling where.”
“....”
When the king didn’t respond, Sakura looked at him again, only to have her blood run cold when he was staring intently at her face, “Your Highness?”
Just like that, his serious expression returned to the friendly one from before, and he tilted his head, “You know, I was just thinking it’s rare to meet someone with naturally pink hair. It suits you quite well.”
She blushed, lowering her gaze bashfully, “You’re too kind.”
“Your siblings all have red hair, if I correctly recall?”
“Yes, that is true.” ‘He seems very interested in my physical appearance. I think it’d be rude to ask the reason why.’
“I see,” King Madara searched her face calmly, “And is this your first time visiting the palace? I know Baron Haruno has attended dozens of banquets and balls.”
Sakura’s pulse quickened. She hesitated because if she confirmed that she’d never been here, he might realize there was a reason why and investigate her upbringing. Above all else, she was terrified he’d annul the engagement with Sasuke upon realizing she was an illegitimate child. So, she lied, “I was a very sick child, so I wasn’t able to accompany Father to many parties while growing up.”
He nodded, “Ah, I understand now. I was concerned my mind was failing because I’d surely not forget a beauty such as yours.” He got to his feet and offered his arm again, “Let us continue our stroll. The maids will soon come for you to prepare for the party this evening.”
They began walking again, but Sakura felt less comfortable than before.
“So, what are your thoughts on my nephew?”
“He is a respectable and generous man, Your Highness. He has treated me well.”
“Pardon me if the topic is unwelcome, but can you explain the nature of your relationship? Seeing The Curse roam free last night without trying to harm anyone was quite a shock.”
‘Ah, so he wants details on what’s happened between the three of us,’ Sakura took her time gathering her thoughts, ‘Sasuke told me to be cautious. He wouldn’t have done that if there was nothing to worry about, so I think I shouldn’t tell the king everything.’
“There isn’t much I can say. Any agreements The Curse and Lord Sasuke have are between them. I feel it’s too personal a matter, so I haven’t asked the prince for more information.”
King Madara didn’t let her completely get away with such a vague response, “You must at least be aware of the condition to rid my nephew of that demon.”
“...Yes. I am aware of my fate.”
“And you’re accepting of things as they are?”
Sakura paused, swallowing nervously before nodding, “Lord Sasuke vowed to try finding alternative ways to break the curse, but if that fails, I’ll not resent him.” She tried to answer in a way that she thought would please Konoha’s ruler, “To die so that a member of the royal family can be healed and thrive would be an honor.”
The king chuckled, sighing afterward, “You are a unique young woman, Niece. I’m grateful it’s you who is his fiance. I’ll leave him in your capable hands.”
Soon, Konan and a handful of other maids retrieved Sakura and took her back to the bedroom upstairs to begin the long and tedious preparations needed to get her ready for the engagement party.
By the time they were finished, Sakura hardly recognized herself in the mirror. The dress, which she had no hand in choosing, clung to her humble curves. It was blood red, made of velvet, floor length, and had off-shoulders with a sweetheart neckline. This would be the most form-fitting outfit the pinkette had ever worn, which only proved to make her more nervous.
Her long hair was in romantic curls with some of it pinned back, only to be accented with a thin tiara. No matter how much she protested, Konan and the other ladies insisted she wore it due to her impending title change from lady to princess. Diamond earrings and a necklace were also provided. Sakura’s makeup was flawless and professional.
A knock came at the bedroom door, causing the panicking woman to gasp and turn in time to see Sasuke open it. His dark eyes subtly widened when they met hers, and she suddenly felt insecure and self-conscious. They met one another halfway, where she whispered unsteadily, her overwhelmed state clear as day to her fiance, “I-I don’t know if I can do this.”
Sasuke looked beyond stunning. He wore a black tuxedo with a bowtie that matched her dress. His usually unruly hair was combed back and out of his face.
He offered his arm with an unfamiliar expression on his face, “If you can tame The Curse, you can face the public.”
She fanned herself to prevent the tears from overflowing as they left the room and began heading for the ballroom downstairs, “What if I say the wrong thing? I don’t want to embarrass you or your family, Lord Sasuke.”
The pair stopped near the guards manning the double-door entryway of the ballroom, and the prince faced her fully. Like earlier in the day, he pulled her hands into his and met her gaze straight on. For a moment, it was quiet, and she stared with wide eyes while trembling nervously.
“I’m relying on you to help break my curse, so rely on me when you’re feeling unsure.”
‘My God, he really is a prince,’ Sakura’s mouth opened slightly as she took in the man’s gentle reassurance and handsome appearance. There was something so noble about his demeanor this evening. ‘Could it be the party and the clothing getting to me? I can’t stop staring at his face.’
Sasuke squeezed her hands and spoke again, this time leaning in slightly to pull her attention from her hectic thoughts, “I’ll take the lead tonight. Simply follow my example.”
Slowly, Sakura nodded. Her heartbeat slowed enough that she could take a deep breath. The prince fixed her with one last look over before gesturing to the guards so they’d open the doors.
“Now, introducing Prince Sasuke and his new fiance, Lady Sakura Haruno.”
Applause met their ears as they stepped into the crowded room. It was so bright and lively that it took a moment for Sakura’s eyes and ears to adjust. Without missing a beat, Sasuke guided her hand into the crook of his arm and stepped forward, guiding her along.
‘I have to keep my shoulders back and make sure not to trip,’ Sakura glanced at the tall man supporting her before blushing and lowering her gaze, ‘For him, I have to do everything perfectly.’
The couple was greeted by dozens of strangers in extravagant clothing, each doing little to hide the fact that they wished to be in the good graces of the royal family to benefit their own.
When they made their way to the head of the room where the king and crowned prince were waiting, Madara lifted a hand to silence and still the area. Then, he spoke loudly enough that all could hear, “As the acting ruler of this land, I hereby offer this couple my blessing,” he gestured to them, “Nephew.”
Sakura faced Sasuke because he suddenly turned her way, pulling away from her hold. She brought a shocked hand to her chest when he knelt down to one knee and offered her a beautiful diamond ring with sapphires accenting the massive gemstone. His dark eyes remained locked on hers the entire time, silently encouraging her not to lose confidence, “I’m declaring my intention to make you a part of my family, Lady Sakura. Will you accept this ring, therefore accepting my offer of marriage?”
‘I had no idea this sort of thing would be happening tonight, especially in front of so many people!’
The image before her was like something out of a fairytale book, one she might’ve read to her youngest sibling before bed years ago. With her hand trembling, she allowed Sasuke to slide the ring onto her fourth finger, “I will.”
Applause filled the air once more, and Sakura’s face warmed significantly as the second prince rose to his feet. He seemed mildly amused by her bashful reaction, the corner of his lips tugging as though he wanted to smirk or smile but was holding back. She looked at the gorgeous ring on her finger before placing a palm on her cheek in an attempt to cool it.
Together, the couple approached the king and bowed. Madara grinned widely, gesturing for them to raise, “Let us spend the night making wonderful memories we can reminisce about for years to come!” He lifted his glass of champagne, “A toast! To the happy couple! May their love last a lifetime!”
A butler quickly arrived to give Sakura and Sasuke glasses of their own, and then the room lifted their glasses in unison, cheers filling the air. Sakura timidly sipped the bitter drink, stealing a glance at the king, who winked happily. This was her first time attending a party of any kind. It was also her first time trying alcohol.
‘I don’t care for this taste, but everyone else is drinking it, so I’ll just have to force it down. It’d be rude to complain when they prepared all of this for us.’
“We have to be the first to dance,” Sasuke muttered where only she could hear.
She swallowed hard, “D-Dance? But we’ve never practiced.”
Sasuke took her drink, handed both his and hers to the butler, and guided her to the center of the ballroom floor. The nearby orchestra began playing a slow waltz. Sakura searched Sasuke’s face with wide, terrified eyes but allowed him to manipulate her body to the necessary position. Her palm rested on his shoulder while he held her other hand in his. Then, as naturally as breathing, they were dancing. Their moves flowed like a calm river.
‘He’s completely taking the lead, just like he said,’ Sakura thought, acutely aware of his body pressed against hers so she could feel how he’d like her to move.
One by one, other couples joined them on the dance floor, and it became easier to breathe since everyone wasn’t simply standing around staring at them. Sakura whispered, her gaze wandering away from her fiance’s face because his beauty was overwhelming to behold unyieldingly for long periods of time without losing one’s composure, “You’re quite good at this, Lord Sasuke. You must’ve taken lessons as a child, correct?”
“Yes,” the man said, “Though it’s been years since I’ve had any practice.”
The pair experienced a brief hiccup in their dance when Sakura misstepped, accidentally stepping on his toe. She blushed, lowering her face, “I’m so sorry. I would’ve studied if I’d known we were expected to dance.”
“No one is expecting you to be perfect,” Sasuke said.
A moment of silence passed before Sakura blurted out something that’d been on her mind for days, “May I ask a question?”
“Of course.” Sasuke twirled his fiance before pulling her back into the previous stance, dark eyes studying her every move.
The pinkette felt warm and antsy but managed to get the words out, “Have I done something to upset you? We were getting along well, I feel, until a few days ago.”
The prince’s neutral expression fell into a frown, “What?”
‘I shouldn’t have said anything. I probably just ruined the night for him.’ She shook her head quickly, “It’s nothing. I’m sorry. Please forget I mentioned it.” ‘He hasn’t harmed me before, but I also haven’t spent much time in his presence. Will he punish me for bringing up something uncomfortable?’
“Sakura….”
Their eyes met, only for the song to come to an end and the room to applaud the band. The same butler from before reappeared to hand the couple new glasses. Then, the pair was busy introducing themselves to anyone and everyone who approached, making their way around the room. Sakura stayed by Sasuke’s side, speaking only when spoken to and quietly sipping her drink.
‘If I do well for the rest of the night, maybe he won’t be as angry.’
An hour passed, and then two, and then Sasuke suddenly gasped, snapping the pinkette out of her daze. She looked up to see his jaw flexing, a flash of red crossing his eyes as he lowered them so the group of people surrounding them wouldn’t notice.
‘He’s changing! I have to get him out of here before someone notices!’ Swallowing her fear, Sakura slid her hand from the crook of his elbow to his hand, where she interlaced their fingers, “Lord Sasuke, can we take a short break? I need a breath of fresh air.”
His eyes widened, black again for the moment before he nodded. They bowed to the few paying attention and excused themselves from the large room. Halfway toward the exit, Sasuke stumbled, a hiss passing his lips as his fingers tightened between hers. Sakura slowed, glancing around at the staring lords and ladies.
She whispered, “If you lean on me, they’ll only think its because of the champagne.”
The prince glared straight ahead but smoothly wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
‘He’s so warm,’ she thought, shyly wrapping her own arm around his waist to help support some of his weight while he suffered the pain of Akuma’s taking over.
Once out of the ballroom and down the hallway a bit, the prince gasped in pain, allowing some of it to show since they were alone, “I should’ve paid closer attention to the time.”
He nearly doubled over, but Sakura stumbled to help him remain upright. Her eyes landed on a nearby door, and she guided him toward it in a hurry, glancing behind them to ensure no one was watching, “Let’s go in here until the shift has passed.”
To her disdain, it was only a small broom closet, but it’d have to do. Sakura helped Sasuke lean against the back wall, holding one of his hands to show support while keeping the other on his waist in the event that he began to fall so she could try to help.
He panted, a thin sheen of sweat appearing on his skin in the darkness. When he spoke, his voice was raspy and weak, “How is it that crowds can intimidate you, yet you’re able to help me with something like this as though it’s natural?”
She shook her head, wincing in empathy when a small sound passed his lips, “I couldn’t just stand by and watch you suffer,” she unconsciously lifted her hand from his waist to push his hair from his face as it’d begun to fall from it’s styled position, “Besides, it’s not your fault you were cursed. You shouldn’t have to go through this alone.”
Sasuke absently leaned into her touch, his eyes half-lidded.
Sakura gasped when his free hand gently met her lower back to pull her against him. A bright blush met her face, “...My Lord?”
The man’s mouth opened, but no words came out. Then, it was as though the breath in his body disappeared. What was once black became a glowing red, and the hold he had around her became firmer. Akuma’s familiar tone met her ears; the prince’s once gentle expression morphing into something confident and devilish, “How pathetic. The prince must rely on the help of something like you to maintain appearances. I could laugh.”
Her blush paled, “Akuma. You’re awake.”
His glowing gaze looked over her, his lips turning up into a grin, “You look…”
‘Oh, no. Please don’t talk about my outfit.’
“You look like you want to be devoured, Sacrifice. Is tonight the night you offer me your innocence?”
“It’s too soon for you to kill me. I’m sure Lord Sasuke doesn’t consider me someone he holds dear,” Sakura, as always, didn’t understand most of what the demon said, “When the time comes, I don’t mind if you’re the one to do it. Please be patient.”
Akuma chuckled, “I have many things to teach, and you have many things to learn.”
He studied the nervous woman’s face for a moment before she couldn’t stand it any longer and tried to pull away, “We should return to the party before people notice and begin looking for us.”
“Not so fast, Pet.”
She froze in her struggle against his hold, “Huh?”
The demon lowered his voice, leaning in to brush the tip of his nose against the petrified woman’s, “You’re forgetting to show respect to your master.”
“My apologies, Akuma,” Sakura began pulling again, to no avail, “I’ll bow to you if you release me.”
The hand holding hers disappeared to swiftly run up her back and get tangled in her curly hair.
She gasped when he tugged so she’d lift her chin. His voice was low as he searched her face, “You pressing your forehead to the floor is no longer sufficient.” Sakura opened her mouth to ask what he wanted, but he cut her off. “Watching that coward miss opportunities left and right today has left me aggravated and unsatisfied.”
The hand on the woman’s back lowered to squeeze her bottom, making her squeak in surprise. “And watching you look at him like he’s God’s greatest gift to Earth is just as irritating.”
“Akuma, what are you-” “Kiss me.”
‘What did he just say?’
“K-Kiss you?!”
He glared, the red in his eyes flaring up with his impatience, “Even an uneducated child knows what a kiss is. Do it, or I’ll go into that ballroom and use this body to ruin the prince’s reputation with those filthy humans.”
Sakura didn’t dare call his bluff, remembering how carelessly he’d murdered Butler Yamamoto. Tears welled up as she searched his face, “Just one, right?”
Akuma grinned affirmatively.
Trembling from head to toe, the pinkette nervously cupped his cheek, eyes searching his carefully as she rose to her tiptoes. He watched her every move until she squeezed her eyes closed and kissed his cheek, a humiliated and scared heat flooding her face, chest, and stomach.
When she pulled away moments later, Akuma’s amused expression was gone. Instead, he seemed bewildered.
Before she could say anything, he whispered, his breath tickling her face since they’d yet to part, “This once, I’ll let that suffice as we’re needed elsewhere, but the next time you’re in my arms like this, I won’t allow you to escape so easily.”

The Akatsuki
* Pet-names
Tumblr media
Itachi
Absolutely calls you names like Dearest, Darling, My Love, or Angel— If he falls, he falls hard. He’s definitely the romantic type and has a way of making his partner feel special, and if he’s dating you, well you definitely are— This boy has been through a lot, after all! Anyone he falls for, is probably the first person on his mind other than Sasuke.
Tumblr media
Kisame
He’s a total flirt— He calls you names like Gorgeous, Handsome, Sweet Cheeks, Baby, and Hot Stuff. Kisame monopolizes your attention whenever he can, and is very hands on in a relationship. He has away of making his partners feel safe, and honestly— With good reason. The Akatsuki is a dangerous organisation, but Kisame is also a dangerous individual. Good thing he’s so head over heels for you~!
Tumblr media
Hidan
Hidan is a bit of an asshole, but he’s also incredibly protective— He switches tones a lot. He can go from Hey, Girly/ Hey, Hotness, to Bitch/ Punk Ass in a matter of seconds— He’s incredibly foul mouthed, but damn does that mouth give good kisses— If you like wild swaps from praise to degradation he’s probably right up your alley.
Tumblr media
Kakuzu
Kakuzu absolutely calls you names like Gem, Jewel, and Precious— To him, most things have a price, but you? You’re priceless. He spoils you rotten, too— You must be something really special to win over his hearts.
Tumblr media
Sasori
He absolutely calls you names like Lovely, Doll-face, Prince, Princess, or Majesty— He treats you like royalty. Like— Sasori makes you feel like you’re the most powerful person in the world, and the pull you feel towards him is almost magnetic. Sasori’s love is all consuming and it burns down everything around it, but the two of you.
Tumblr media
Deidara
Deidara calls you names like Lovie, Babe, Cutie, and sweet pea. He showers you in compliments and is absolutely the type to bring home flowers (Better do a quick check to make sure they don’t explode— He can’t help it sometimes..) He’s also really good with his hands, homemade gifts, extra kisses, baking— You name it, those hands can do it all.
Tumblr media
Konan
Konan calls you names like Honey, Sugar, and Pumpkin— She’s the type to be incredibly soft on whoever she falls for, and she treats them almost reverently. Konan’s love is sweet and simple, but she has incredible loyalty within her— She’s the type who will give, give, and give in a relationship.
Tumblr media
Nagato
Nagato would call you things like My Everything, or My One and Only. He treats you as though the world revolves around you, and his love is both a blessing and a curse. You want for nothing when with him, but when given the world, what satisfaction in there in getting those wants?
Tumblr media
Obito
Obito calls you names like Flame, Dove, and Doe. He treats you as though you’ll break if he looks away from you. He’s incredibly protective and coddling, but is also incredibly soft— He treats you like a lifeline, and for all you know, you are…

I wish you would write a fic where the Akatsuki are a host club and [character of your choice] is a passing Haruhi…..
for the "I wish you would write..." ask meme
We have
Pein as a metal-studded prince with an indifferent temper (and a very sad backstory).
Konan is the stiff, correct club secretary who knows everything about everyone.
Kisame is our tall, grim-looking swords guy who is honestly more chill than 70% of the cast.
I know it seems natural that Kisame's smaller "much less intimidating," companion with the sweet tooth should be Itachi, but you should hear me out and let it be Sasori instead. I think the contrast between Kisame and Sasori is actually thematically pretty good. Big guy with massive natural chakra deeply invested in physical arts next to a tiny guy who has interfered with every single "natural" process he can conceptualise to turn his own body into the ship of theseus, you know. Good shit. Moving on.
The twins are not twins and, in fact, aren't even brothers, although a lot of the Host Club's clientele certainly think they are. Itachi and Deidara are both very rich orphans who appear (?) to hate each other (??) and who have also moved in together. (They live with Sasuke! But Madara is Itachi's only remaining adult relative. Oof.) Reasons unclear. Only the maids understand this relationship, and they're not telling. God forbid you pick on Itachi or Deidara where the other one can tell, though: Itachi will rip you a new one about picking on people who are already that pathetic, and Deidara once set a man on fire for provoking Itachi to an asthma attack. If anyone's going to kill Itachi, it's going to be Deidara.
Tobi is the hooded weirdo who shows up in the middle of a scene through a door he just made up and curses people. If you take his mask off and expose his face to the sun he cries. Zetsu follows him holding onto curse accoutrements and mumbling to himself.
Kakuzu is their club manager. Clients typically won't see him unless the plot demands he rise from the ground on a giant steel platform, lifted by a mass of writing tentacles and throbbing chakra monsters. Unlike Host Club's Renge, he does not show up to squeal about his faves and offer a genre-savvy comedy segment. Instead, he appears when he senses someone is making a fiscally unwise choice with club funds. We don't know where he sleeps, or, worse, what he eats.
Hidan is the scion of a late crime lord (lotta orphans in this cast, I see) who died under such grim and mysterious circumstances that a dark cloud hangs over his reputation. He shows up because he's heard Kakuzu is also an eldritch abomination and wants to learn about him. Kakuzu is in the business of managing hosts, though, so if Hidan wants his time he's going to have to work for it. Smile, Hidan.
I'm not sure who the funniest character to bring into this setting would be. Sakura seems like an obvious choice, and who doesn't like insane Sakura centric AUs? But Kakashi could also be fun, I think. He would just not want to be there at all, ever... but if he escapes one of the hosts he's definitely not escaping the rest. (Especially if Kakuzu thinks he owes them money.)

Naruto-Characters as Warhammer 40k-factions
After doing something like this with atla-characters, I thought it was fun to do this with Naruto-characters. Again, this is gonna be very silly. Also all 40k factions, not just astartes-legions
Itachi: Night Lords. Renegade that uses copious amounts of terror tactics and there would be a lot more dead if someone else did the job (which doesn‘t justify what they did). Also fan favorites with black eyes, black hair and pale skin. Tough upon further thinking, Harlequin might also work? Very strong, insanly fast, kind of fragile and the terror tactics are more mind fuckery than skining people. Kisame: Carcharodons. Guys with a sharktheme and a lust for blood and I like them a lot. Samehada is allready nearly a chainsword! Sasori: The Mechanicum greatly appreciates your effort in replacing your flesh with machine-bits. Also human-puppets are pretty close to servitors Hidan: Gruesome murder for the sake of gruesome murder and personal entertainment? Sounds like the Drukhari are gonna love him. He even prolongs his life with the suffering of others! Or Slaanesh. Slaanesh would also work just not aesthetically. Kakuzu: Rogue Trader. Near infinite personal freedom and a ton of money? Yeah, he would be up for that (also they are allowed to keep Drukhari around) Konan: I‘m gonna say Sisters of Battle or Sisters of Silence, I can‘t quite remember if she sees Nagato more as a god or just a powerfull guy.
Tobirama: Inquisition. Just look at the guy who invented necromancy to use undead as a never ending tide of bombs and tell me that he wouldn‘t enjoy a little exterminatus from time to time and having waaay too much power over people. Hashirama: I‘m gonna say Exodite Eldar just for the nature-theme. Maybe also avatar of Isha? They are usually nice and have healing stuff, but you still don‘t wanna piss them of Madara: Chaos champion or demon prince, maybe he get‘s a upgrade at some point. Either Khorne or Chaos undivided, because while he does a lot of war and murders a lot of people, he also does some other stuff.
Tsunade, Shizune and Sakura: Space Marine Apothecary. Tanky battle medic. Gaara: Blood Angels. Starts out bloodcrazy and only wanting to fight but he get‘s better and ends up beeing a pretty nice guy. Also both are from deserts. Sasuke: Raven Guard maybe? He‘s suitably emo looking and Raven Guard and Night Lords really dislike each other. Orochimaru: Magos Biologis or Drukhari Homuculi coven. Doing weird, definetly unethical human experimentation as one does. Kabuto: Necrons or maybe something Nurgely? Just a guy commanding legions of the undead. Thousand Sons might also work, a sorcerer controlling empty hulls of what once were people.
Hyuuga-clan: Navigator House, eyerelated superpowers they are super secretive about, a lot of power but isolated from wider society and definetly too much inbreeding Jinchuuriki: Maybe Titans Princeps? Humans capable of controlling giant Battle-things but if they aren‘t carefull, that things mind can take over.
These are just the ones I came up with, if you have more or disagre with one of my classifications, feel free to add your opinion!

For the prompt!
Kayami and Obito, romantic, playing with hair ;u;
HII!! Thank you for waiting! I'm sorry this is probably not as romantic as you envisioned it, but once I have an idea I just go off running with it!! We can just imagine they keep doing this and then it will be romantic eventually. Hope this is ok, thank you for borrowing me your boy <3
Obito x OC
1776 words
Rain noise bled into the building from the entrance door and Obito sighed with annoyance. He was thoroughly tired of Amegakure and its constant stream of rain. When he was younger and sweating every summer in the burning heat of Konoha he would have never expected to one day be tired of rain, but here he was. It was just too much.
Unfortunately, since he had decided to hide behind the image of Pain he had no choice but to be alright with the base of operations being around here. After all, Nagato and Yahiko were known to be children from Amegakure and if Obito wanted the Akatskui to stay undetected, it was better if they hid among this closed off, shut away, city.
Still, he at least wished the breeze of Kirigakure back. It had also often rained there, because of the tides coming in and out, but at least there had been sun sometimes.
He watched the gathered members from underneath his mask and tried to take assessment of who was around. Hidan and Kakuzu were on a headhunting mission together, probably driving each other crazy and Konan and Nagato had left without a word. Itachi and Kisame were chatting at the back with each other, while black Zetsu and white Zetsu were having a heated argument somewhere else.
Obito had no time to wonder why Sasori and Deidara hadn’t come back from their mission when the door suddenly burst open. “I hate this weather,” Deidara moaned in anger. “It ruins my aesthetic.” For once Deidara and Obito shared an opinion. That didn’t happen too often.
“Senpai,” Obito sang in his Tobi voice, “Welcome back. I see you got into a rain shower and- oh, who is that?”
Behind the big puppet that was Sasori, a young guy walked into the hideout. His hair was long and white-blonde and with his arms crossed in front of his chest and suspicious eyes he looked like he didn’t trust any of them.
“That is Tamano Kayami, we have been looking after him for a while now,” Sasori’s deep voice came from his puppet. “He’s a descented of an important clan, but we’d rather not tell you the details. Where is the boss?”
I’m right here”, Obito thought bitterly and the Madara side of his personality immediately switched to fight mode. But he had been good at channelling Tobi in the last few years and Tobi was, unfortunately, not important, so he needed to accept that he wasn't going to be included in secrets.
“Oh, is the newbie a special prince?” Tobi asked and got up to walk over to Kayami who’s lips curled a little at the sight of him. He was probably already deciding in his mind that Tobi was nothing but a loser he didn’t need to spend time on, just like Deidara and Sasori had before him. There was no better personality to hide behind than a fool.
Kayami pressed his arms together tighter: “It’s a little rude to ask this stuff without introducing yourself, don’t you think so?” He was two heads smaller than Obito, but his stance looked like he was ready to fight. Obito involuntarily grinned under his mask. Feisty.
“I’m Tobi,” Obito sang as a reply and took a bow, making sure he bowed how female actors do just for good, silly measure. “I am the secret ingredient of this place.”
Seemingly amused, Kayami looked over to Deidare who just shrugged: “We let him believe that.”
What kind of special lineage might this guy have, Obito wondered and tried to put out feelings for chakra levels. He was certainly skilled, even with his small build, but Obito could not quite assess what was special about Kayami. Still, if Sasori felt like he was special enough for his skills to be reported directly to Nagato, then he was probably very special.
If he wanted to find out who this guy was and how he could be used in Obito’s plans, then he needed to get the information out of Kayami himself. Sasori wouldn’t give it to him and Nagato already hated him anyway.
Kayami shook himself and drops of water landed on Obito’s arms. The boy had apparently made the march through Amegakure all without a raincoat. Maybe the others had refused to tell him where the hideout was in case he was a traitor after all. Whatever the case, he was now dripping with water, his hair looking wet and tangled.
“Newbie has such beautiful hair.” A genius idea went through Obito’s head. “Tobi once had beautiful long hair, you know, very spiky just like he has now. Do you want Tobi to take care of yours?”
The other boy's lips curled again: “Uhm…” His eyes flickered to Deidara who shrugged as if to say “I mean, he is offering.”
“Fine,” Kayami said and looked directly into the one eyehole of Tobi*s mask, “but if you do something weird I’ll slit your throat. Doesn’t seem like anyone here will miss you.”
Obito had to grin again, he couldn’t help it. “Tobi will be really gentle,” he whined, “Please don’t hurt Tobi.”
He took Kayami’s hand and walked the boy over to a corner with two chairs right next to each other. On the way over Obito quickly took Deidara’s hairbrush without the guy noticing and then gestured for the other man to sit down. Kayami did, though he still looked very sceptical.
Though very wet, Kayami had very nice hair anyway. It felt like silk in Obito’s fingers and once he put the brush to it, the tangles were cleared up so quickly, leaving a shining, long, even mane behind. This was nothing in comparison to the mess Obito had to deal with when his hair had still been long back in Kirigakure.
“You should give that back to Dei once you are done,” Kayami said suddenly, forcing Obito to stop in his tracks.
He put his head to the side playfully: “Give what back?”
“The hairbrush you took,” Kayami answered a breath later.
“Oh you saw that,” Obito replied in his best Obito voice adding a giggle at the end just for good measure. When it came to his real feelings he had to admit that he was, in fact, a little impressed by that. Obito was a good pickpocket and none of the other Akatsuki had ever caught him before. “Newbie has good eyes,” he added. “Is he an Uchiha by chance? No that's impossible they are all de-”
“Yeah, possibly,” Kayami replied to Obito’s genuine surprise. “I mean, not exactly sure, but it is definitely possible that there is part of that family in me.”
Weren’t all the Uchiha dead? Obito frowned beneath his mask. Tamano, he thought, Tamano. It felt like he had heard the name before in relation to the Uchiha, but though it was on the tip of his tongue, he could not really place it. The name tasted like long wooden hallways and narrow streets and hot summer days spent in the Uchiha district’s special school, and yet the memory didn’t want to become clear.
“That means you are very special then,” Tobi sang. It was probably best to try and dig deeper here. “Is that what scorpio and senpai think of you as a little prince?”
Now wonderfully straight and silky smooth again, Obito absentmindedly found himself curling a strand of the other man's hair around his finger and then letting it go again. It also smelled good if he was honest with himself. What was this guy doing with Deidara and Sasori, when he was evidently so good at taking care of himself, both in appearance and defence.
“Tsk”, Kayami made and then stretched a little, but didn’t pull his hair out of Obito’s fingers. “I don’t know what you are playing at, but you can drop the act.” He glanced over the shoulder at Obito. “Honestly this voice must be straining to you.”
“Voice?” Obito put his head to the side again. “This is how Tobi speaks.”
Kayami let out a breathy laugh and his hair fell into his face: “This must be all a big joke to you, huh.” He looked up directly at Obito again. “I can feel that you are incredibly powerful, so I wondered at first why you are hiding behind this silly demeanour, but I get it now, you are probably just trying to hide how strong you actually are.”
“Huh?” Obito made and then realised he had spoken in his real voice by accident. He quickly caught himself again. “Tobi is just Tobi.”
A lot of Akatsuki members knew that Tobi was just a personality Obito was playing, but that was because he had deliberately told them who he was. And even then he had lied to them about who he was so that nobody actually knew who he was. The other members, though great shinobi in their own right, had fallen for his Tobi persona hook line and sinker. And now this guy, who Obito had talked to for maybe an hour in total, and figured out he was acting right away? Impossible.
With another laugh, Kayami got up: “Fine, Tobi is Tobi, I won’t tell the others.” He patted Obito on the shoulder as if he was complimenting a small child on their play pretend.
Obito suppressed an angry growl and reminded himself that he still didn’t know what this guy’s deal was. The name Tamano seemed familiar, but he couldn’t place where. Until then Obito needed to be patient and not reveal his identity. Kayami could suspect him of acting, but there was no way he could get proof of anything. Obito just needed to commit.
“Newbie has beautiful hair, truly” Tobi said and put his hands behind his back like a shy girl, “Can I brush his hair another time again?”
Kayami raised a brow and then touched his neck with his right hand as if there was something itching there. “Sure,” he said slowly. “I don’t see why not.” And then, more to the side than to Obito: “The weather in this dump probably won’t get better.”
Tobi repeated the girly courtesy from earlier. “Tobi is so happy.”
The blonde man gave Obito a long look, as if he was still trying to decide what his deal was, but then he shrugged his shoulders. “Don’t forget to give Dei his brush back.” He turned and walked away.
Obito watched him go and turned the hairbrush in his hand. Whoever this Kayami, one thing was for certain: They had just gotten a very interesting addition to their organisation.

My headcanons for MerRin.
Rin is a Mer-Princess of one of the 7 kingdoms of the Sea. The greatest Kingdom is the Uzushiogakure, ruled by King Minato and Queen Kushina. Rin is very special because of her ability to commune with all sea life and control water, she is beloved by all and revered for her kind and gentle nature as well as her beauty.
Her best friend is Lady Konan, she is also close with Lady Shizune the apprentice of Queen Tsunade. She also has a close bond with the young mermaids; Sakura, Tenten, Ino and Hinata. She is also like a big sister to Prince Naruto.
She also bonded with the mighty water spirit Isobu, which she keeps secret from everyone, due to the merfolk fearing him. Only Konan, Shizune and Naruto know of her friendship with Isobu.
Another close friend and confidant, is Lord Nagato, who often serves as her psychologist (He does NOT get paid unfortunately) and he encourages her to keep her mind open to everything.
The Nara, Akimichi, Yamanaka, Senju, Hyuga and Haruno are all merfolk. Mei Terumi is another queen of the 7 kingdoms and a mentor to Rin. She is served by her two loyal bodyguards, Kisame and Zabuza. Who are considered the greatest warriors in all the seven seas.
Obito is a human. He is a lord and technically a prince. He is the nephew of King Fugaku and Queen Mikoto. He's the older cousin of Prince Sasuke, Prince Itachi and Lord/Prince Shisui.
His best friends are Baron Kakashi, Lord Yahiko, Sir Gai, Lady Anko, Lady Kurenai and Prince Asuma.
Obito is a powerful fire wielder, but a kind and fair man as well as supreme commander of the Army. The Aburame, Inuzuka and Sarutobi are part of the kingdom. And the Land of Suna is a close ally. Lord Danzo Shimura is a powerful man within the kingdom and plots to size power for himself. Hiruzen and Jiraiya are two trusted lords and advisors to Fugaku.
King Fugaku is a fair minded man, but he is a man under a lot of pressure and strain, so he doesn't always make the right decisions.
Now the Merfolk are constantly warned about not to go near the surface due to the danger of land. But Rin is always curious, as is Naruto.
Obito tries to be a fair and just man in everything he does, but suffers from sorrow and depression after the death of his parents at a young age.
That's what I've got. Really want to hear your thoughts on this AU and how do you think Obito and Rin would meet.
There are things I agree with and things I cannot agree with here.
I'm going to offer my most honest thoughts respectfully. Forgive any harshness.
Let's start off with what needs to be scrapped:
-We're gonna scrap off the friendship with Konan because it's too OOC, along with Nagato being her "psychologist" - too OOC as well. People should not forget the characterization and personality of the Ame Orphans at all. They were one way with Jiraiya, but as full-fledged characters they are no where near fluffy and friendly.
-Yes, Yahiko is scrapped off from the friendship with Obito too. Put the Akatsuki on the side, they are their own organization that have diplomatic ties with the kingdom.
*I must strongly emphasize that there is absolutely no need for everything to be a friendship just to have more characters involved.
-Also, Rin being a princess is unnecessary given that Minato and Kushina are the rulers here. She does not need to be completely royal to have value. Also, while she's a lovely and genuine mermaid, her being friendly with nearly every living being is too Mary Sue. You can have her as a subordinate to the royal family instead, and with a pleasant social status amongst the merfolk.
-The whole apprenticeship with Tsunade/parallel of Sakura thing is also unnecessary. Paralleling with Team Minato with Team 7 is already overused and makes the characters lack so much personality. To put it bluntly...parallelism with Team 7 is annoying as hell.
-Mei Terumi's loyal guards can be Ao and Chojuro, given that Ao is her right hand and Chojuro is her close subordinate, lmao. Her being Rin's mentor....no. Minato WAS her teacher.
-You can throw in Kurenai as a mermaid here so she can be close to Rin instead of Shizune. Shizune is off somewhere with Tsunade so...yeah. She can also develop a connection with the human Asuma and have their own little story, lmao.
~~
Here is what is approved:
-Rin's friendship with Isobu even though it's a secret because yes, he is apparently the terror of the ocean, lol. Nobody needs to know other than Kushina and Naruto who is clearly connected to a Nine-tailed fox spirit that roams in the land.
-Rin controlling water, approved. She is a mermaid, so of course she can commune with sea life. She's a healer type, so that's cool.
-Obito's best friend is Kakashi and he's close with Asuma and Gai, yes, approved. As I mentioned, Kurenai can be a mermaid.
-Rin having a close bond with Naruto, totally approved.
-Fugaku and Mikoto being rulers, approved. Obito being a fire wielder as well as a commander and his fair personality, also approved.
-Merfolk being warned and all, approved. Danzo's plot, the clans' status in the kingdom, etc etc...approved.
-Obito's depression, very MUCH approved. Perhaps Rin would not have parents either and would be orphaned too, and that way she and Obito can be connected based on that. :D
~~
How would Obito and Rin meet?
-We can always use the Little Mermaid reference; and have Obito drowning. It can start off with Obito and Kakashi fighting off some threats on the borders of the kingdom, and Obito saves Kakashi by running towards an enemy and tackling him off a cliff, which makes Obito fall into the water. The enemy would be dead. That's where Rin finds him, and drags him to the land.
-Kakashi of course, after finishing off the enemies with his lightning attacks, would immediately alert the kingdom to send out a search party for Obito.
-By the time Rin drags Obito to the shore, Rin would use her healing powers to heal him, and then Obito would wake up and see her hiding behind a rock. He'd be a little disoriented, and then Rin would tell him what happened slowly. Taking a closer look at Rin, he'd ask her if she saved him, to which Rin would nod her head cautiously.
-When he realizes that Rin is still in the water, Obito would question it, and then would hide further behind the rock. Obito calls out to her again, and Rin would say that she is not allowed to be out here and that he cannot tell anyone he saw her.
-Obito promises he will keep it all a secret if she lets him see her, and that's when Rin reveals herself to him as a mermaid. Of course, Obito would be astounded by her beauty, and they would exchange each other's names. Obito swears that this is all a secret. Rin would say that she needs to go before someone finds him, and Obito agrees.
-As he watches her swim off, he'd see her tail flailing in the water before she is entirely out of sight. The image of Rin is fully imprinted in Obito's head, while Rin anxiously returns home - not without thinking about the man she just saved.
~~
Extra thoughts:
*Yes, as usual, Rin would have long hair. I'm sure you can imagine how pretty she is already; maybe with a tiara made out of coral (tie-in to Isobu's coral jutsu in canon). :D Her tail's colors would be a mixture of purple and blue gradient, and there would be some gold on the pelvic area.
If we are still referencing Little Mermaid (although I don't see the necessity to follow it all the way): Orochimaru could be the wizard (with octopus tentacles for his tail much like Ursula LMAO) that would give Rin the potion for her to have legs and all...XD
~~
There you have it! :)

Return to the Tavern - Guard(dog) Duty
Tumblr media
"Ooh another Damona's Boon!" Gwae said with a giggle as her cheeks flushed "You know Kathalia, its called something else in other bars… Do ye want to know what it is…?"
"Everyone knows what a Milkmaid's Teat is Gwae." Kathalia replied "You can see the Forest from the Ash and Hazel. Morgiana here doesn't even drink and she can tell you the dirty name for every drink that Haizea tries to class up."
Morgiana nodded, twirling strands of steam-like foyson rising from her buckwheat tea into little spirals around her fingers like a thread. "She does make it a challenge. Right now, she's given up on trying to rename 'Sex on the Sand', but she's got them stumped with "Tempest in a Teacup'. Personally, I'm more impressed that she manages to get the peaches in the middle of winterrule."
"I've learned not to question how Haizea does anything in the kitchen or behind the bar." Kathalia responded "Its much, much safer that way. This place is nice though."
"You're nice though." Gwae muttered with a drunken smile before remembering herself and fumbling the correction "I mean, it's nice. Its a fine local. Its not the Ash and Hazel, but it'll do. Whazzit called again?"
"The Silver Wheel." Marie chimed in "Apparently the local Druid circle here in Ker-Ahes was dedicated to Aranrhod. Poher and Pontivi were among the last holdouts of the old Druids! Even as late as Prince Conomor's conquest, there was an active Nemeton from the days of Konan Meriadoc. Of course, Budig II set fire to it after he returned to the throne, but…"
Morgiana, sensing that Marie was just getting started, excused herself, heading towards the washroom.

"That wasn't very polite of that mean old witch." Antoinette puffed as she circled the room in an exaggerated patrolman's style once again. "After Lady Enora went out and caught this brigand for her, she won't let us keep her in the castle!"
Seated on a large crate, Azelma watched the little squire continue her tireless pacing with the eye of a patient cat waiting for a kitten to tire itself out, though she knew it was a lost causewith Antoinette's limitless energy.
"Its true, that the Biskontez was not a very pleasant person, but I am sure she had her reasons. House de Chinon has many enemies."
"Nonsense." Antoinette scoffed, twirling in place, her brass buttons shining in the store-rooms lanterns "How could anyone hate Lady Enora. Don't be silly Azelma. Maybe the Biskontez is in league with brigands like this one." She gestured at the cage in the corner.
"Wave that in front of me again and I'll bite it off." Growled the figure inside the cage, the tattoos on her face seeming to glow in the shadows. The squire jumped back, surprised by the suddenness and directness of their heretofore silent guest.
"That will be all of that." Azelma said calmly. When Azelma spoke, it wasn't a threat or a posture, merely a statement of fact, like the colour of the sky at a given moment. The fact that she could outpull the average farmer's horse merely backed her up.
"As for your theory, Annaig, I sincerely doubt that." Azelma replied "The Biskontez did authorize the arrest after all. She's probably not a secret bandit queen."
"Yeah, but some of the cooler brigands probably have nobles backing them." Antoinette, forgetting her patrol, hopped up on the bench opposite the Fomorian. Her face lit up. "Or ARE the brigands. I bet La Louve de Frehel has their own secret lair, beneath a castle or something! With a secret passage beneath a waterfall and a cool horse!"
"I think your imagination may be taking you for a ride."
"How else could they constantly escape Lady Enora? No, they definitely have a secret lair." Antoinette replied, ". . . Or. . . Maybe they are not Bediz. Maybe they're something cool like a dragon in disguise or a mermaid princess or a fierce garwaf! That would be cool for Lady Enora to fight."
"I am not sure Lady Enora would be excited to fight any of those things."
"Pfft. A dragon is nothing compared to Lady Enora." Antoinette turned her attention to the prisoner, taking in her dimly glowing tattoos framed by her sleek black hair. "Do you have a cool moniker? What's all over your face? Have you ever met a dragon?!"
"I've had quite a few monikers" The bandit stood up inside her cage, rotating her neck and shoulders to work out a cramp. "They're the holy symbols of the Veiðimaður." She smiled, sharp teeth glistening as they seemed to grow sharper "And I've never met a dragon… But I have met a garwaf…"
Her fang-filled grin seemed to widen as her face began to stretch out, Her tattoos flaring with blue light to give the black fur spreading over her body a shimmering quality. Feet became paws as the garwaf rose upwards, towering over the wide-eyed squire. Azelma stood quickly, tensing herself to prepare for the inevitable attack. Instead, the jet-black garwaf merely stretched, glaring down at the pair on the other side of the bars.
"And now little girl." the garwaf said in a low, menacing growl, leaning in close to the bars "so have you…"
"Ooh, how dramatic!" A delighted clap and a new voice caused Azelma's head to jerk around, as Antoinette stood transfixed in momentary fear by the werewolf before her.
Atop the cage, there was a ripple in the air and suddenly a slender, pale woman in a short maroon dress and a cape that seemed to shimmer with starlight had appeared. A pair of pointed fox ears sprouted from her head, a bushy tail swishing idly behind her as she smirked at the trio below.
"You'll have to excuse my friend. She comes from an insufferable line of bards and witches with a flair for such thing." The fox-eared woman remarked, as if the lupine beast within the cage was merely an eccentric dinner guest and not an unstopabble killing machine.
Antoinette found her bravado, puffing herself up.
"You'll need to step away from Lady Enora's prisoner."
The poulpiquet tilted her head and within the blink of an eye, had reappeared in front of the squire, who blinked with surprise.
"No, she's my guest," she purred as she leaned in towards Antoinette. "As are you."
"She's a garwaf!" Antoinette protested, as if such reasoning would sway the fox-eared korrigan into compliance. The figure merely responded with a smile.
"Oh? I hadn't noticed. At what's so bad about that? Tell me, girl, what do you know about Garwaf? Tell me three things and you get a prize."
"Back away from the girl." Azelma growled.
The korrigan shot her a venomous glare "We're having a conversation. Wait your turn."
"They… are people who become wolf-monsters." Antoinette said, her confidence returning once again as she was put on the spot. "They transform under the blood moon and they… hunt in packs."
"That's right, they do tend to travel in packs." The Korrigan said with a laugh. "And its possible, that they can be anyone. Our friend in the cage. The big green oaf. Even…" she leaned forward, poking Antoinette in the nose with her black-clawed hand "you."
The squire blinked at the small black pad on the tip of her nose, following the laughing fox-woman's finger as she pulled it away, stretching into a muzzle, brown fur spreading over it. She raised her disbeleiving hands to feel it for herself, thick packs forming on her fingers as she did, the fur spreading along her arms
Azelma rushed forward, but slammed to a sudden stop as if hitting a wall as the sorceress held up a hand.
"Of course…" She said, her mouth set into a wicked grin, "You were with them both all this time. It would make sense that you were also garwaf, don't you agree?"
Azelma's eyes widened as she, still arrested mid-charge, felt fur spread over her body. Antoinette's skin was completely covered in brown fur, a tail poking out behind her uniform as it strained against the changes. The sorceress dropped her hand and with the motion, Azelma dropped to the floor, hands and feet becoming paws as her teeth grew sharper, filling out a lupine muzzle.
------------
Morgiana stood in shock, back to the hallway wall as she saw the two guards transform before her. She tried to control her rapid breathing and focus. She moved slowly, pulling glamour from the air and beginning to wrap it around her. Through the doorway, Acrasia smiled as Azelma and Antoinette writhed on the floor, becoming more wolf-like with every passing moment.
"Of course" she said, turning to where Morgiana hid, "I didn't forget about you, little spy…"

Val's Notes: You may have noticed that these stories are not quite in "order". I wanted to challenge myself with an unorthodox system changing vantage points as the story unfolds, slowly revelaing more in the past and future from a general starting point. This one is probably the earliest, but I hope that one can see the connections where the stories intersect.
I went through a few versions of this picture and am pretty happy with the ultimate results, especially Garwaf Azelma and Morgiana in the foreground. Since Azelma is not "human", I wanted to give her a slightly different design, with the horns and her tusks. I wonder is other non-human characters like Gwae should have slightly different wolf forms in sets like this…

SasuSaku: Sacrificed To The Banished Prince Ch. 21
For the first time, Sakura didn’t shy away when Akuma pulled her into his arms. Instead, she accepted the embrace because it was the first time she was entirely sure his intentions were pure. The reason he held her so close under the covers was because he yearned for comfort. Without speaking, he seemed to have finally realized he was doomed to be returned to Purgatory while she would soon be dead. A strange sense of comradery overshadowed Sakura’s usual bashfulness as she soothingly rubbed his back, under the odd, fleshy wings.
‘Sometime in the near future, both of us will cease to exist in this realm. The three of us will be separated until the end of time.’
Sakura was sad. It was bittersweet to admit she wished the prince had been successful in finding an alternative method of removing Akuma.
She’d experienced terrible things since becoming his fiancee, yes, but she’d also experienced kindness and comfort beyond her wildest dreams. It was as though the woman was a child before meeting Sasuke Uchiha. Now, her eyes were open to reality, no matter how brutal. And she preferred this life to the poor excuse for one she’d led back home with the Harunos, pain, trauma, and all.
Inwardly, the woman was in the process of comprehending her impending doom. Before, she agreed to be a sacrifice because she had no will to live. Now, her reasons had changed. No longer would she die for her family’s sake. Sakura would die as a show of loyalty and devotion to her fiance, to the man for whom she’d developed unwavering affection.
A tiny sound left her chest when Akuma suddenly pulled away. His red eyes weren’t nearly as fiery as usual. He looked over her, hands coming to hold her waist. When he spoke, his voice was almost the same as Sasuke’s since he’d given up trying to appear all-powerful, “That Haruno pig will be dead before us. I swear this to you.”
The Haruno woman shook her head. She didn’t want to think about Hihara now or ever again.
“If possible, I’ll lay him at your feet, my flower.”
Sakura’s face warmed at his new, surprisingly sweet nickname for her, “I don’t want that….”
He sighed, eyes drifting to her midsection, where his thumbs were gently brushing against her ribcage, “You may be able to heal from these scars, but I won’t allow that rodent to escape with his life. You’re much too passive.”
“Akuma,” she breathed, frowning when he met her gaze again, “Let’s spend our remaining days enjoying life rather than focusing on the negative.”
‘He’s spent his entire time on Earth scheming and planning, worrying if he’ll be a prisoner stuck in Sasuke’s body for eternity. Since I’m the one sending him to a place he obviously wishes to avoid, the least I can do is try to make the best of his last days.’
“What frivolities can I possibly enjoy while the moon is high when all the festivities will occur under the sun?”
“We can spend time together,” she murmured, searching his face.
Akuma’s mouth closed, as did his eyes before he took a calming breath and nodded once. His voice was less tense, “If it’ll please you….”
So, the duo stayed up late. They talked about all kinds of things, mostly what-if scenarios pertaining to the alternate reality where they’d both survive this tragic situation.
By the time Sakura fell asleep, she felt as though she’d finally gotten a glimpse of the demon’s true personality, and it wasn’t nearly as murderous and scary as one would expect. Akuma wanted to understand humans. He wanted to experience love and happiness because all he’d known until now was pain and loss. The demon wanted the only thing he couldn’t have, and Sakura’s heart ached for him.
Sakura was awoken by Konan the next morning. She blinked slowly, rubbing her eyes, “...Akuma?”
“You won’t see the prince until you meet at the altar this evening.”
The woman tried not to pout. It’d been reassuring to spend time alone with both Sasuke and Akuma. Now that they weren’t around, she was uneasy.
Ino arrived moments later. She did little to mask her distaste for the blue-haired maid and made an effort to ignore her presence as she assisted Sakura into the bathroom and began preparing a bath, “Today’s the big day! I’ll make sure you look flawless!”
As excited as Sakura was to marry such a kind and selfless man, she couldn’t focus on anything other than the fear that she’d make a mistake at some point during the wedding. Luckily, Ino and Konan filled the silence with light bickering while they bathed, dried, and began preparing her for the big event. The poor Haruno woman was silent all the while. She was in a panic-induced daze, allowing the people coming and going from the room to do as they pleased to her, whether it be applying makeup, styling her hair, delivering the dress, or any of the hundred other things that needed to be done.
Time passed in a whirlwind, and then she found herself in an extravagant waiting room with her father as they awaited the cue to walk down the aisle. Only when the baron spoke did Sakura finally snap out of her half-aware state, “Considering the circumstances, you make for a passable bride.”
“...”
She didn’t know what to say. It was obvious her father felt as uncomfortable as her. It’d been years since they’d been alone together, after all.
“Remember what I told you about performing marital duties. The prince seems taken by you, for whatever reason, so you’ll seduce him during the honeymoon and then you’ll convince him to announce the accusations against your brother were falsely made.”
A soft knock came at the door as the two stared at one another, the elder of the two with a firm glare and the younger with utter disbelief. A butler opened the door with a calm smile, “It is time.”
Kizashi Haruno cleared his throat as though it’d clear the tension between them, faced his daughter, and carefully pulled her veil over her face, “Let us go, child.” Sakura’s hands shook as he pulled one of them into the crook of his elbow and guided her out of the room to stand at the massive, closed double doors of the chapel.
Right then, she should’ve been focused on the wedding, but she wasn’t. No, she was appalled at having to be so close to her own father. The trembling didn’t stop, but she did have to bite back a gasp when she came to a realization, ‘After today, I’ll be Sasuke’s family. I’ll be an Uchiha, not a Haruno.’
Taking a deep breath, the woman closed her eyes tightly and whispered where only the baron could hear, “I’ll be your puppet no longer, Father. I’m free of the Harunos at last.”
Kizashi’s eyes widened angrily, and he opened his mouth to retort, only to clamp it closed when the doors slowly opened to reveal what could only be described as a wedding fit for gods and goddesses.
Elegant piano floated through the air as Sakura made her feet move on auto-pilot. Her eyes were wide, straight ahead, and not seeing much. The veil made everything blurry, not to mention the terrified tears welling in her eyes. Hundreds of people watched from either side of the wide aisle. She could feel their gazes burning into her skin. Her fingers tightened around her flawless bouquet of blue and white roses.
‘Don’t trip. Stand tall. Just keep walking. Please. Please. Please, don’t embarrass the royal family in front of all these people!’ The panicked thoughts in her head were as loud as bombs, only crescendoing with each step. It felt like they’d never reach the podium with how large the room was, how long the aisle was. Her entire body felt cold as ice, which didn’t help with her case of shivers.
Then, like the chaotic calm after a destructive storm, a white-gloved hand appeared before her. Her vision came into focus to see Sasuke’s familiar face, and it took her breath away. Kizashi bowed to the prince, then to the king and first prince who sat nearby before taking his seat in one of the frontward pews.
Sakura couldn’t tear her eyes from her fiance’s as he gently aided her up the steps to the podium, where an extremely old priest stood waiting in magnificent robes of white and silver. When they were stood in their designated place, the ceremony began.
The priest spoke loudly so that the entire chapel could hear, “Lords and Ladies, we’ve gathered here today to witness a royal marriage blessed by God. As the book says, we shall-” “Sakura.” The woman blinked, not realizing she still hadn’t looked away from her handsome fiance’s face. His whisper is what did it.
He squeezed her shaking hands in his much larger ones, speaking quietly without moving his mouth much so those watching wouldn’t suspect anything, “You’re safe.”
She nodded slowly, taking a calming breath and squeezing back, “I-I’m alright, now. I can do this.”
Warmth met her cheeks, breaking through the ice, when he gently rubbed his thumbs over the backs of her hands, the corner of his lips tugging as though he wanted to smirk or smile, but he held it back. As gentlemanly and reserved as he was, it’d become increasingly obvious to Sakura that he was amused by her bashfulness every so often. She blinked in surprise when Sasuke suddenly released her hands to slowly lift the veil, allowing it to fall like soft snow down her back to rest on the train of her wedding gown.
‘I didn’t realize how far we are into the ceremony already!’
Sasuke’s eyes were wide, surprise clear in their dark depths. For a long moment, neither dared to move. ‘He looks perfect, like a prince in a fairytale.’ Had he always been so handsome? Yes, he had, but it was still hard to look away from such beauty.
Murmurs began to fill the air from the wedding guests, making the Uchiha man clear his throat and blink. The priest repeated what she’d obviously missed, “Your vows, Your Highness.”
“Yes, my vows,” the prince confirmed. He cleared his throat again before turning his gaze back onto his bride, the tiniest hint of color meeting his cheeks. There was an unbearable moment of hesitation, obviously him being uncomfortable with such public displays, but he eventually sighed and began speaking, “Lady Sakura, I….”
She could only watch in awe as the man swallowed nervously before pulling her hands into his once more and closing his eyes, “I was a ghost. I’d hide away, content to be unseen and unheard if it were for the benefit of those around me.”
Tears welled once more in Sakura’s eyes as she watched the embarrassment fade from his features. Sasuke met her gaze warmly as though forgetting they weren’t alone, “Then, you arrived. You refused to allow me to remain a spectre. You… This quiet, unfamiliar woman made me into a human.”
If Sakura didn’t know better, she could’ve sworn his eyes were becoming watery, but the man didn’t cry. Instead, he finished his vows with his composure intact, “Of all the professions of affection I could make, I fear I can only manage to say thank you. The rest, I will offer without wordlessly and pray you’ll understand.”
Sasuke searched Sakura’s gaze, his hands squeezing hers as he repeated more quietly, “Thank you.”
The woman delicately wiped at a stray tear before reholding the prince’s hand and taking a deep breath. ‘They told me I’d have to write my own vows, and I did, but they seem far too professional compared to how I feel right now.’
She took the tiniest step closer to him, searching his face earnestly as the words came to her, and she, too, forgot they were being watched by hundreds of people, “You have given me comfort. You’ve given me care and compassion. You breathed a life into me that I didn’t know was possible.”
Sasuke’s hands tightened around hers, and she sniffled, feeling another tear overflow. She didn’t let it stop her and continued, “Never have I met a man with such a kind heart. I am proud of you.” She shook her head, leaning into his touch when he gently reached up to wipe at her tears, “Sasuke, I…I cannot wait to see the amazing things you’ll do in this life. If I am sure of two things, it is that I-I am in awe of you and that the world is a better place with you in it.”
The room became silent before the priest chuckled, “I believe their words are proof enough of their devotion,” he gestured to the couple, “Second Prince Sasuke Uchiha, you may now kiss your bride and welcome her into the royal family as First Princess Sakura Uchiha.”
‘The kiss! I forced myself not to think about it, but there’s no more time!’
Sakura couldn’t panic for more than a moment before warm lips were pressed to hers. Sasuke’s hand cupped her cheek, the other slipping behind her so he could pull her closer and hold her still. Her hands landed against his chest as she stared wide-eyed at his relaxed face. His eyes were closed. In that moment, the woman let herself be selfish. She closed her eyes and melted into her husband’s affection.
The crowd erupted with applause, but the new princess only broke out of her love-struck awe when Sasuke ended the kiss. He pulled away, his thumb brushing the corner of her lips as he searched her face. His voice was low and raspy with effort to remain composed, “We’re married.”
Sakura nodded, breathing heavier than normal with the overwhelming emotions and atmosphere, “I’m…. I’m your wife, Sasuke.”
This time, the prince didn’t hold back his smirk, “You are my wife.”

"six sentence sunday" tag game
I was tagged by @mxxnlightwriting last sunday i think but this is neither six sentences or a sunday so lol
I'm a bit...........frustrated still with Seafoam because I'm still very blocked, so this passage is from an older draft of my next wip Visions from the Pool. I was just reading it over in search for a passage for this post and this one was the one that spoke to me the most
I'll tag: @thewriteflame @daisywords @pinespittinink @isherwoodj @flowerprose and @caitlinbirenbaum (no pressure whatsoever lol)
"I'm at my wit's end, Konan. Can't you see that?"
Konan's eyes stung and he blinked away tears. "Yes, sir."
"The council wants me to take away your right to the throne. Part of me is inclined to agree with them."
Konan bit the inside of his cheek when the first tear fell, and he averted his gaze to the floor. "I am sorry. I know my words don't mean anything to you, but it's true."
"You're right. You apologize over and over for your actions, but you don't change. You need to grow up. Be the man we expected you to be."
Konan inhaled sharply, letting out an unexpected choked laugh. "Maybe if you didn't have such high expectations for me, I wouldn't — "
"High expectations!" His father shouted, his anger bouncing off the walls of the empty room, hitting Konan again and again until the echo died away. The king began again, quieter this time. "You are the crown prince of Arnna. Before you were born there were expectations placed on you. They were placed on me, too. At least I didn't — " His father gestured between the two of them, shaking his head. "I turned out fine. Why couldn't you? What is wrong with you?"
"I...I don't know." Konan wiped at the tears that fell, unable to hold them back any longer. "I'm..."
"Sorry. So you've said." The king stepped away from Konan and turned his back on him. "I would not be doing my feelings justice to say I am disappointed in you, but that's the best I can do. I just pray to the stars that you haven't tainted Deagan as well."
"I can change. Father, I can. Just...tell me what I can do."
His father sighed, hanging his head. "I want to believe you mean that. I want that more than anything." When he turned to face him again, Konan could see wet trails of tears on his father's cheeks.
